October 2000 and May 2001. The Dark Horse STAR WARS TALES anthology had a very high dross-to-gems ratio, but it did feature one of a handful of SW stories drawn by Argentinian artist Carlos Meglia, best known as the co-creator of CYBERSIX with Carlos Trillo. Originally published in STAR WARS TALES #5, "Lando's Commandos: On Eagle's Wings," written by Ian Edginton, seems to have been intended to kick off a new series focused on Lando Calrissian and a group of misfit pilots doing special missions in the wake of RETURN OF THE JEDI, although it didn't catch on like the Mike Stackpole Rogue Squadron series did. Meglia also drew STAR WARS UNDERWORLD: THE YAVIN VASSILIKA, a five-issue miniseries with Lando, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and various other nefarious characters engaged in a treasure hunt for a mysterious artifact the Hutts are after (whose actual purpose is finally revealed at the end). It's fluff, but it has a sense of humor (dishearteningly rare in the Dark Horse SW comics), and Meglia's fluid, cartoony artwork is a joy.

Like, do I have to limit myself to cop shows on network television stations if I want to be able to see what’s going on?
Is that it? Is it a money thing? Are they expecting the people watching the cop shows to be the ones with cheap TVs and the ones watching the streaming shows to be able to afford swank OLED displays, so there’s no point in making their content accessible to older equipment?

nearly 6 years since i made this post and these connections still live in my brain with no rent in sight:
plagueis, with his breath mask (from nemoidian concept art), skeletal appearance (from muun concept art) and staff make him look like the grim reaper of star wars
the grim reaper is a personification of death that originates from the time of plague in the 14th century.
the grim reaper “reaps” souls for the underworld.
before selling the company, george lucas was working on a live action star wars tv show called underworld, which centred around criminal families on the lower levels of coruscant.
one of the storylines in underworld somehow involved palpatine’s history with a “hardcore gangster” woman, presumably from one of those crime families. this is also where the name “sheev” originated from
an unmade arc for the clone wars introduced a sith temple on the “base level” of coruscant.
in james luceno’s tarkin, palpatine dwells in an ancient sith shrine on coruscant, several levels below the jedi temple/imperial palace. plus we find out about sheev. james luceno was given these details from underworld to use in his novel.
in summary: i think the title of underworld wasn’t just referring to crime on coruscant, it was referring to the presence of the dark side there as well. in palpatine’s backstory, was plagueis the “grim reaper” who took his apprentice to the underworld? did palpatine “die” and the undead darth sidious rise from the lower levels? who tf is heartless gangster woman?

Summary:
Most people living in the upper levels of Coruscant didn't give much thought to what happened to their trash. But when trillions of people are living on top of one another it builds up fast. The privileged probably assumed it was burnt or buried or shipped off to some other planet. The truth was, when trash has nowhere left to go, it doesn't disappear. It simply stops being trash and becomes something else. Part of the landscape, a feature, a landmark. Eventually, even the ground underfoot.
The detritus of a thousand generations, discarded and crushed and compressed until eventually it was indistinguishable from the intentional structures around it. Coruscanti schist, the bedrock of the planet. The present and the future built on the bones and middens of the past.
So when Fox said Coruscant was a city built on its own filth, he meant it literally.
When a handful of clones unexpectedly attack their Jedi, Commander Fox is tasked with clearing their names before "justice" is served. He and his reluctant partner, the peculiar Jedi Quinlan Vos, pursue their investigation deep into Coruscant’s underworld.

I’m so excited to begin posting this fic as part of Team 35 of the 2023 Clone Bang! It is the longest thing I’ve ever written (by a LOT) and I learned a lot in the process. I really enjoyed participating in my very first fandom event (thanks, @clonebang!) and look forward to many more.
I’ll be posting chapters every other day through Feb 3, 2023 so stay tuned. Future chapters will feature contributions by my amazing artists, @sankt-jesper and @flowerparrish!

Hey, new excerpt from The Living Force just dropped!
Lolol, not Qui-Gon referring to Obi-Wan as "his colleague"
“The alternative is . . . unpleasant,” Qui-Gon said. He looked to Obi-Wan. “My colleague can attest to that.”
Ghor followed Qui-Gon’s eyes. “You’re his colleague?”
Obi-Wan bowed.
“Another Jedi Knight?” Lobber asked.
“Sort of.” Obi-Wan flicked at his Padawan braid. “It’s complicated.”
