A Little Nudge
Kuroo needs a little nudge to confess, too bad jealousy was a shove.
warnings: SPOILERS, cursing, mention of a minor injury, hella tension
word count: 2508
You were the beloved manager for Nekoma High School’s boys volleyball club. You were a third year at this point, having become the manager for the club when you were a first year, so this was your last year with the boys. Over the years, you quickly grew to love all of them like a family, you constantly looking out for them and their well-being and them “protecting” you from “creeps”.
The first years looked up to you as if you were some kind of angel. They warmed up to you quickly and admired you deeply. To put it simply, they were your little band of simps. Inuoka and Lev would always approach you and try to talk to you, boasting about how strong they are and how easily they could help you carry everything. Meanwhile, Shibayama was the one actually helping you carry things.
The second years cared for you quite differently. Yamamoto was the self declared president of the “y/n protection squad”. He didn’t talk to you very much but he wouldn’t let anyone else suspicious talk to you either. Fukunaga was always making you laugh with his silly jokes. He would approach you with the most monotonous face and crack a pun that barely made sense.
The third years were sweeties to you. Yaku was always helping you keep everyone in line. You would rarely raise your voice, no matter how boisterous the boys got, so Yaku would do it for you. The team likes to joke that he’s your megaphone. Kai is the support you need to keep coming back every day. Some days as manager are especially stressful or just draining but Kai is always there to help if possible or simply encourage you.
Kenma and Kuroo...they’re your childhood best friends. You had met Kenma first, despite the boy being younger than you, and you had quickly become friends...somewhat. And when Kuroo came along, the three of you were inseparable. You always claimed that they were like siblings to you, but as the years dragged on, Kuroo quickly grew to be more. Things definitely started changing in high school.
First and second year were no biggie. You and Kuroo stuck together like glue during your first year and when Kenma got into high school, the three of you were back together again. But sometime between the second half of your second year and the beginning of your third year, things changed. Kuroo began icing you out for no apparent reason. Kenma ended up drifting towards Kuroo, something he apologized for, but he still made an effort to stay friends with you.
The second and third years on the team all noticed this development as soon as your third year started. You and Kuroo were barely speaking. You only spoke when it was about the team. You had tried to talk to him a few times, only for him to shut you down with bland, one word answers. As the season went on and nationals drew closer, tensions grew and you and Kuroo were avoiding each other like the plague.
On the bus ride to nationals, you had chosen to sit in the middle of the bus, next to Kai, shocking everyone as you would always sit behind Kuroo and Kenma up front. From what you knew, the beginning of the bus ride was fine. You showed Kai the notes you had taken on opposing teams before the both of you fell asleep for a short amount of time. Little did you know, the small action was causing quite a stir.
“y/n-san is sleeping on Kai’s shoulder!” Lev whisper-yelled obliviously. Everyone on the bus turned to look at Kuroo, who had his jaw clenched tightly.
“Good observation, Lev.” Kuroo said from between clenched teeth.
“Don’t you like y/n-san?” Lev prodded the irked boy.
“Lev, shut up!” Yaku snapped, slapping Lev in the back of the head.
“y/n can sleep on whoever they want, they aren’t my problem.” Kuroo retorted, pulling out his phone and pretending to text someone. Kenma eyed him warily before deciding to let it drop. As the bus rolled over a large bump, you and Kai were jolted awake.
“Oh, sorry Kai! I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you like that!” you exclaimed, scooting away from the boy quickly.
“No, no it’s okay, I’m sure it was just an accident.” Kai reassured you, rubbing his neck in embarrassment nonetheless.
“Yeah, an accident.” Kuroo scoffed under his breath. Unfortunately for him, the bus was completely silent as they watched your interaction with Kai, so everyone heard his snarky remark.
“What was that, Kuroo-san?” you asked him in a sickly sweet tone, emphasizing the formality of the name you called him as you used to call him Tetsu.
“Nothing, why don’t you just go back to sleep. I’m sure you’re tired since you’ve been so busy lately, Manager-chan.” he jeered back at you.
“Well, someone has to make sure that the team is ready and in tip-top shape, Captain.” you snapped back.
“Now, now, let’s just calm down guys.” Kai said, breaking the intense stare down you and Kuroo were having while the rest of the team watched on. You slumped in your seat and crossed your arms childishly, frowning as you heard indistinct mumbling from Kuroo. The bus ride was dead silent for the rest of the ride to the stadium. As you all got down and began to make your way to the court your game would be on, you began to pat your pockets.
“Oh no, I forgot my notebook on the bus, I’ll be right back, you guys keep going!” you exclaimed.
“Do you want me to hold the bag of water bottles?” Kai asked, reaching out for the bad hanging on your shoulder and bumping into your hip slightly.
“It’s okay, but thank you Kai! I’ll be back in no time.” you assured before taking off in a slight jog to get back to the bus. You quickly located your notebook when you got back to the bus before beginning to walk back to the stadium.
“Oof.” someone grunted, the water bottle bag swinging outwards when you turned a corner swiftly, hitting someone in the stomach.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry about that, are you okay?” you exclaimed, waving your hands around in a panic as you observed the person for injuries. He was a fairly tall boy with dark hair parted to the left and a thin face.
“I’m fine, don’t worry about it.” he said, chuckling good naturedly. “Can I walk you to your destination? Only to make sure you don’t clobber any other unsuspecting victims.”
“Oh, that’s alright, I was just getting back to my team.” you replied, not wanting to trouble him.
“Oh, I see you’re Nekoma’s manager. I’m very good friends with Kuroo, the captain. I’d love to accompany you back if you’ll let me.” he said as he saw the team name on the back of your jacket, a charming smile on his face.
“I mean, if you know Kuroo I’m sure he’d be happy to see you.” you said thoughtfully as you nodded.
“I’m Daishou, by the way. What was your name?” he asked you.
“I’m y/n, sorry, I totally forgot to introduce myself.” you replied as you both began to head back to the main courts.
“Can I carry your bag for you?” Daishou offered, holding out a hand.
“Oh no, it’s not that heavy.” you assured him.
“Are you sure? I’ll be sure not to hit you with it.” he joked. You laughed before allowing him to take the bag from your shoulder and carry it for you.
“So, how do you know Kuroo?” you asked him, not noticing the wicked smirk on his face.
“We met through volleyball. It’s always nice to see him at matches like this.” he replied easily. “And you? I assume you’re friends since you must work together often.”
“Oh...yeah, I guess so.” you frowned, remembering that you both indeed used to be friends and worked well together.
“Did I say something wrong?”
“No, it wasn’t anything you said. Kuroo and I are just having a bit of an ongoing argument I guess.” you replied, trying to keep your tone casual. Daishou was about to respond but you found yourselves at the doors to the courts. As you entered, the Nekoma team immediately surrounded you, Kuroo reaching you first.
“Daishou, what are you doing here?” he asked, the smile on his face contrasting the dark look in his eyes.
“Just dropped by to say hello.” Daishou replied easily as he handed the bag of water bottles to you. “It was very nice to meet you, y/n.”
“You too! Good luck on your matches!” you called as he excused himself and walked away.
“What did he want.” Kuroo asked you.
“What do you mean? He just helped me carry the water bottles and walked me back here.” you replied, frowning at the taller boy.
“You’ve never had problems carrying the bag before.” he accused.
“Well, he offered to carry it for me. What’s your problem? Just because you’re rude to me now, it doesn’t mean other people have to be as well.”
“Excuse me?” Kuroo asked incredulously.
“Okay, that’s enough. We need to start warming up.” Kai intervened once again, stepping between the two of you. Kuroo gave you one final harsh look before walking away.
The game against Fukurodani was a blur to you. The team felt off, the argument between you and Kuroo putting a strain on the team's communication. Everyone was stoic and silent as the game ended in Fukurodani’s favor. You all quickly made your way off of the court and prepared for the next match, the last shot at nationals.
“Daishou!” Kuroo’s jaw clenched as he saw you wave at the Nohebi boy who he was approaching to begin the game.
“You guys are going down hard.” Daishou smirked as he reached out to shake Kuroo’s hand.
“Oh, like how Mika let you down hard?” Kuroo sneered as he grasped Daishou’s hand.
“I don’t mind being single. y/n is pretty cute, and from what I’ve seen, they’re single.” Daishou fired back, grin widening at Kuroo’s angry expression.
“Leave y/n alone.” Kuroo spat angrily. The two separated and walked back to their respective sides as the game began.
The game was unlike anything you had ever seen. Kuroo was like a different person. He was on his top game, you doubted anyone else would have noticed the extra tension in his muscles and the clenching of his jaw, but it was undeniable that his presence on the court was unrivaled. So focused on how the game was going, you barely noticed when Kuroo called for a timeout.
“y/n, can you take care of Kuroo?” you were snapped out of your thoughts by Nekomata as he gestured to Kuroo, who stood before you. You nodded stiffly before beginning to walk out to the main hallway where the first aid kit was left.
“...are you okay?” you asked him as he followed behind you.
“Yeah.” he replied shortly.
“You seem off.”
“I’m playing fine.”
“Not like that...you don’t seem like your usual self.” you said, patting the space next to you as you sat on a bench with the first aid kit in hand.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” he replied as he sat down next to you.
“Icing me out as usual.” you laughed sadly as you grabbed his hand to begin disinfecting his finger.
“I’m not icing you out.” he hissed, hand tightening around your wrist instinctively as the alcohol hit the injured finger.
“Sorry, sorry.” you said, uncurling his fingers from your wrist as you proceeded more gently. “But if this isn’t icing me out, what is it.”
“I’m not icing you out.” he repeated instead of answering the question.
“Can’t you just tell me what I did wrong?” you finally snapped, looking him in the eye for a few moments before averting your gaze and going back to bandaging his finger.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, okay y/n?”
“Then what happened, why are you acting like this?” you asked as you finished bandaging his finger, curling his fingers into his palms and resting your hand on top of his unconsciously.
“I like you, y/n. That’s what happened. I’ve liked you for a long time and you clearly don’t like me. Why should I make it harder for myself to move on?” he answered agitated as he stood up and turned to go back to the courts.
“Because that’s selfish and you’re an asshole! Didn’t you ever stop to consider that I might like you too? Or were you just gonna keep being a coward and just ice me out?” you snapped as you zipped up the first aid kit, quickly standing up and grabbing his elbow to stop him.
“This isn’t funny, y/n. Let’s just go back.” he replied as he yanked his arm out of your grasp.
“I’m not joking! This is the first time you’ve let me talk to you normally in how long and you won’t even believe what I’m trying to tell you!”
“Okay, so you aren’t joking? What does that mean, you like me too?” he scoffed as he towered over you.
“Yes, you dipshit! I like you.” you exclaimed. “Ugh, whatever, it doesn’t matter. The most important thing is we need to get you back in the game.”
“Hey. We’re talking about this after the game. If we go to nationals, you owe me a date.”
“Awfully confident for someone who called a timeout for a little finger boo boo.” you teased. A smirk broke out on Kuroo’s face, quickly spreading to yours as well at the feeling of familiarity of it all.
“I’ll make you eat your words.” he grinned, walking back into the main gym with you in tow. The game was nerve wracking, but the looks on the faces of your teammates was one of the best things you’d ever seen. You quickly hugged Yaku, who was on the bench next to you, before you felt Kuroo and Kai joining in on the hug.
“We made it.” you grinned into the hug, happy tears brimming in your eyes. As you guys packed up your things to leave the court, Kuroo approached you.
“So, we won.” he grinned at you.
“Uh huh.”
“So, about that date.” he continued, gauging your face for your reaction.
“Hmm...I guess you do owe me a date to make up for all of your shitty behavior.” you joked, though you could feel warmth creeping up your neck in embarrassment.
“Yeah, I guess I do. First free day after nationals?” he asked, rubbing his neck as he suddenly grew nervous.
“That sounds nice.” you replied, reaching out to grasp his hand reassuringly.
“Do you maybe need a bus buddy?”
“Depends. Can I sleep on your shoulder?”

hi! can i request a headcanon for kuroo w/ a petite & flat chested s/o? thank you!
Kuroo with a petite and flat chested s/o
Tumblr media
he thinks you look so good!
Kuroo has no real preference when it comes to body types, each of them has its own charms
on a petite person he loves the way it makes you look small and delicate
especially when you wear his clothes
he loves seeing how his sweaters or shirts swallow you up
it makes him want to hug or cuddle you
Kuroo loves getting you new clothes that he thinks you‘d like and that would look good on you
he also feels weirdly posessive over you even though he knows you can handle yourself
he just looks at you and his brain goes “must protect“
he does love to lift you up too and he also loves to get you to sit on his lap
but he does not think that you are helpless or just a small, cute doll
Kuroo likes to tease you and fret oer you but he takes you very seriously and if anyone dares to make you uncomfortable because of the way that you look they better be ready to catch these hands 😼
Kuroo is a big dork but it still makes him feel good when he feels like he can make you feel good when he feels like he can make you feel safe and protected
he wants you to know that you can let your guard down around him
a little nsfw:
Kuroo does not mind you being flat chested at all
he thinks it fits you and the rest of your body really well
and he loves seeing you in lengerie and the way it hugs your body
seeing the person he loves so much dress up forhim makes you so happy! (and horny lol)
he loves touching you and feeling your warm skin beneath his fingers
Kuroo is abusolutely not the kind of person to be turned off by his partner being skinny and not having a ot of fat and he does not understand people who are
I mean? look at you? hello??
Kuroo just wants to kiss and ravish and cuddle you
Kuroo just thinks you‘re amazing!
sometimes it also gives him a little ego boost to see you being small beneath him/his hands
he lowkey has an obsession with your chest
especially because of the reactions he can get out of you and the way that his hands can roam your chest easily and smoothly

We Make a Good Team (Kuroo Tetsurou)
Ok so this is the second type part to this request. So yeah, hope you enjoy loves!
Word Count- 891
20. “We make a good team, don’t we?”
“Are you off to do homework?” Your mom asked as you helped her put away dishes that was used during dinner. You nod your head, “yes ma’am I am. I have an essay to finish so I’m going to finish it to have a free weekend.” It was Friday, normally you’d hang out with a friend or with Kuroo, you boyfriend for a year, but you had extra work to do since you missed a day. Your mom nodded her head as she walked to you and placed a small peck on your forehead. “Alright, don’t stay up to late you hear?” She said sternly while you nod your head. You walk out the kitchen and up to your room.
You let out a sigh as you shut the door behind you. 8:30 is what the clock showed as you made your way to your desk. You went to your school bag and pulled out your paperwork and moved to sit at your desk. Opening up your laptop, you pulled up the information you needed for your essay then making a new tab to type it out.
You were typing and searching for a good hour when your phone dinged, showing that you got a text from Kuroo. You rubbed your eyes while moving to open the message.
Oh Captain! <3:
Hey kitten, say you think you can hang out tonight? Bokuto is in town for the weekend and wanted to see if you wanted to hang with us tonight
You smiled, thinking that it would be fun if you didn’t have to worry about your work.
You:
I’d love to but I have to do that essay I missed the other day :( sorry babe but tell Bokuto I said hi!
Oh Captain! <3:
Oh come on plzzzzzz!! You can work on it tomorrow or something, I miss you :(
You chuckled lightly as you pressed his contact and the facetime button. It rang for a few seconds until Kuroo’s face appeared on your screen. “Kitten,” he stated in a serious voice before Bokuto made a quick comment. “Dude your simp side is showing,” which made you and Kuroo laugh out. He glanced to the side saying something to him when he turned back to you. “C’mon like, I’ll pick you up and we can go eat wherever you want but you have all weekend to finish that,” he stated while making a small pouting face.
You send him a sweet smile when you heard Bokuto yell then the camera shook showing movement until Bokuto’s face appeared on the phone. “Y/n, you need to hang out with us. I haven’t seen you in forever and Kuroo is going to be sad if you don’t,” Bokuto said with Tetsurou complaining in the background. You send him a small smile, “how about tomorrow? We can have all day to hang out.” He also gave a pout as Kuroo came up and took his phone back.
“Ok well we’re gonna head out then. But the offer is still on the table, just give me a call,” he said seriously while you let out a small giggle while nodding your head. “I will. You two be safe, love you,” you said while sending a small kiss through the phone. “Love you too kitten,” and mimicked your kiss then hung up.
You sighed sadly as you set your phone down and getting back to your work. A good hour had passed when you heard a clank like sound from your window. You shrugged it off when all of the sudden it happened again. You furrowed your eyes when you phone went off then Tetsurou’s name coming up.
Oh Captain! <3
Open your window!!
You bit your lip to contain your smile as you got up then opened your window. There stood Kuroo and Bokuto standing in your yard with goofy smiles on their faces. Bokuto waved excitedly as Kuroo nudged Bokuto. They nodded their heads then walked closer to your window. You weren’t on a second floor but your window sat higher than a normal would. Bokuto got on his knees and Kuroo got on his shoulders as they laughed quietly to try and not draw attention. Your eyes widened as you covered your mouth to hold in your giggles.
Bokuto walked, now holding Kuroo, closer to you as Kuroo popped up flashing his goofy yet charming grin. Holding up your favorite drink, “for you my good lady.” You giggled as you took the drink then leaned in to give him a big kiss on the lips. You felt him smile in the kiss, but it was cut short from Bokuto whining. “Dude, you guys down kissing. You’re getting have bro,” he complained as you heard Kuroo sigh.
He sent you a small wink, “tomorrow you’re going to hang with us. Got it?” You nodded your head, placing a sweet kiss on his forehead. “You got it captain,” you smugly replied as he gave you on last smirk while he was lowered. When he hit the ground, you heard him tell Bokuto “we make a good team, don’t we?” You look down to see them high fiving before they waved one last time to get in Testurou’s car.  You sat down with a goofy smile on your face. Yeah that’s quite a boyfriend you got.

“call me now. it’s urgent.” with kuroiwayui
this is in the same au as this KuroIwaYui I wrote awhile back
follows immediately after this KuroIwaYui piece
yet another from the five word prompt list
Yui paced the small hallway between her bedroom and kitchen.  She had left Hajime and Tetsurou’s place in a blind panic, barely remembered her trip back to her own apartment, left a hurried message on Asahi’s phone, and was now pacing her hallway waiting for her best friend to call her back.  Thankfully she didn’t have to wait long.
“Asahi,” she said breathlessly, picking up after the first notes of his ringtone began to play.
“Yui what’s wrong?  You just left me a message that said ‘Call me now it’s urgent’ and nothing else.  Are you okay?  What happened?”
“I told Tetsurou and Hajime that I love them,” she said in a rush, unable to contain it even a moment longer.
Asahi’s response was silence.  Silence so long that she double checked that their call was still connected.
Then Asahi laughed softly.  “Okay so what’s the issue?  You do love them, right?”
“Of course I do,” she hissed.  “I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t.”
“And?”  When she didn’t respond he continued, voice gentling.  “Yui I’m not sure what the problem is.”
“Tetsurou is sick and I picked up his meds for him and dropped them off at his apartment and Hajime was all curled up on the couch with him and they were both just so, ugh,” she let out a whine that made Asahi laugh again, “and adorable and just yeah and Tetsurou said something about how me even stopping by for just a few minutes meant the world to them because they know how busy I am and I just blurted it out.  Then I panicked and ran away and am now hiding in my own apartment because I know Tetsurou is too sick to come after me and Hajime won’t confront me about it alone.”
“Oh Yui,” Asahi said softly.  “You’re a disaster.”
“I know,” she whined into the phone as she sank to the floor and sprawled out.  “What do I do?”
Asahi laughed again - she was so glad to be a source of amusement for him and she’d be sure to remember this the next time he called with relationship issues - and she could picture him shaking his head and smiling at her.
“What you do is send them a good night message, go to bed because you have another double tomorrow, and then in a few days when Kuroo is feeling better the three of you can go out to eat and then go back home and talk about it all.”  She nodded along even though she knew he couldn’t see her but frowned at his last words.  “And before you ask, home is not the apartment you are in now and we both know it.  Your heart and your home is twenty minutes away from where you are with two muscly jocks.”
Yui let out a deep sigh.  “You’re right,” she said softly.  “I hate that you’re right so much sometimes.”
“Get some sleep Yui.”
“Good night Asahi.”
She got up, got ready for bed, and shot off a pair of texts before she crawled into bed and fell asleep.
When she woke up she had two new messages, both ending with the same seven words: we love you too, come home soon.

last love
pairing: Kuroo Tetsurou x reader
summary: Nothing was the same anymore, that much was clear. But it is really? Is it really too late for it all?
author’s notes: This is the final part to the first love trilogy. Please go read the first one, then its sequel - skinny love, before this, otherwise you’ll be confused.
also available on ao3.
disclaimer: i own NOTHING but the plot.
He wakes up with a start – sweating all over, heart pounding against his chest, sleep slowly washes over before realizing where he was and the humid heat that was summer gracing his room. He let out a relieved sigh, falling back into his sheets.
“Tetsuroo, wake up already!” came his mother’s voice, which resounded through the house.
The teen waited until his heart calmed to finally get out of bed, still drenched in sweat. A mirror stood across him, revealing his image – still the same gangly guy with serious bed hair, but his eyes still looked tired, even though his bags had lessened.
Grabbing a towel, he takes a quick shower.
He pretends to not have seen the look on his mother’s face when he wolfs on his breakfast, giving her a quick sloppy kiss on the cheek, before grabbing his bag and leaves.
His phone rings – a text message, he flips his phone and sees a text from his sister, quickly typing a reply before going to the music app. Plugging on his earphones, he begins to walk down a familiar path.
Leaning his head back, clear blue skies greet him. It was too much of a good day today.
Closing his eyes, he soaked up on the light, warming his face. When he opened them, the train station was in clear sight, his steps quickened.
Four stops and twelve blocks later, and he was walking down a place he’s grown familiar with the past few months. The grass was still greener, the flowers were much brighter, and the trees were tall as ever – maybe because it was summer. But the paint job was still terrible, even though they had maintenance work on them.
Upon entering the hospital, he nods at the nurses and staff – all of which, were used to his presence for the past months, adjusting the weight of his right arm, carrying his bag.
Kuroo Tetsturou fell into a routine – he woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, made small talk with his parents or sister, and went to the hospital. It’s been that way for months.
He stood in front of the door, about to knock when he heard her – a soft strumming and singing.
“I love this place, but it’s haunted without you…”
He felt the familiar skip of his heart at the sound of her voice. Carefully pushing it open, he finds (Name), playing her ukulele, pen, and notebook on her lap.
“My tired heart is beating so slow,” A thoughtful look crosses her face as she sings as if testing the lyrics. She quickly sketches down on her notebook – chords, and lyrics, falling into her element. Picking her ukulele, she strummed slowly, trying the new lyrics – “Our hearts sing less than we wanted, we wanted, our hearts sing ‘cause we do not know, we do not know” –  a small smile gracing her lips when they came out.
Without even knowing, his body moved on its own accord, stepping inside and towards her.
The song had a light melody to it, repetitive on the notes, yet strangely melancholic and full of longing. Yet somehow, unfinished. She stopped for a moment, stumped, before going over it again. Despite her minor slip up, she smiled through it and went over the song again – she was a perfectionist like that.
The sound of the door clicking broke the moment, (Name) looking up to find Kuroo standing in front of him, surprise written all over her face.
“H-Hey, (Name).” Kuroo says, lifting a hand in greeting.
She gives him a nod, awkwardly glances at him, then back to her notes.
“How’s your song going?”
She fiddles with the page, chewing on her bottom lip. “It’s coming.”
“I see.” He nods, shifting his weight from foot to foot. “By the way, I got something for you.” Putting his bag on the foot of her bed, he unzips it and takes out a pink package. “Sis bought some stuff for you, says you’ll be needing it once you get into college.”
Slowly, a smile forms on her face as she reached for it, Kuroo careful as to not let their fingers touch. “That’s nice of her.”
Sitting himself on the couch, he looked at the clutter of papers on the table – university brochures. “Have you decided on where to go? Or are you still bent on getting to where uncle is teaching?” he asked teasingly, especially on the last question, an attempt to lighten the mood.
Her lip curled by a fraction, hugging her instrument close. “…well, it is my dream school and all.”
Kuroo nods at that. “Well, knowing you, you’ll make it – with or without the influence of your dad.” She smiled at that, playing with the ends of her short hair. His eyes followed her fingers tangle in those (hair color) locks, remembering how strange it was to see her usual locks chopped off, of combing them when she was still unconscious.
A tense silence fills in – both teens staring at anything but each other, unsure of what to say next.
“How about you?”
Kuroo made a questioning hum.
“Keiji told me you’re yet to enroll into college,” there was her ever-present concerned tone, (eye color) eyes soft, yet, basing on her tone, there was no mistaking how carefully she had asked.
Peering up to her through his fringe, Kuroo contemplated on his next words. “I haven’t decided on a course yet.” He lied, shrugging offhandedly. “No worries, though, I’ve been working part-time.” That was half a lie, he had just started working at a small grocery store. A small distraction outside the four corners of his own home and the hospital.
Her brows furrowed slightly with worry before it eased away when a knock came from the door. Her doctor – a small middle-aged man named Dr. Ishioka peeked in, beaming at the sight of her.
“Good morning, (Last name)-chan.” Noticing she was not alone, he gave Kuroo a short nod. “And to you, too, Kuroo-kun.”
Kuroo returned the gesture, having been a familiar face in the hospital for the past few months.
“How are we today?”
“Good,” she smiled, still hugging her ukulele, forgetting her stationary in front of her. When her doctor noticed, he merely gave it a glance. Having finally noticed at what he was looking at, she started looking sheepish. “A-Ah, I was just writing my song!”
The doctor smiled kindly. “And how is it?”
“I-It’s coming,” she replied, using the same answer she gave Kuroo earlier. “I get stuck on words, and things are a little fuzzy to figure out.”
The man nods, hands buried deep in his pocket. “That’s good, getting some brainwork done. However, don’t stress yourself, okay? You’ve been asleep for six months, and it’ll still take some time for your body to get used to moving.”
“She won’t,” Kuroo says aloud, (Name) and Dr. Ishioka turns to him. “I’ll make sure of it.”
(Name) nods dutifully, finally putting down her instrument.
In his professional eyes, there clearly was an underlying tension between the two. Instead of pushing into it, he knew where his limits were.
“Well, that’s good to hear then. You’re in good hands, (Last name)-chan.”
The girl looks up to the doctor, who gives her a kind smile before leaving her a few instructions, which Kuroo was quick to take note of, before leaving.
Just as the door closed behind him, he heaved a sigh, wishing the best for the two.
Tumblr media
“(Last name)-saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!” a loud, jolly voice erupted in the room, making a dash for the girl. Barely a step in, Yaku kicked him in the back, grabbing the tall teen by the collar and pulling him back. “Geh- “
“Lev, control yourself! This is a hospital, not a playground! Geez, it’s like taking care of a giant baby.” Meeting her gaze, he lifted a hand. “Yo, (Last name), you look well.”
She laughed, eyes soft at the sight of the Nekoma team filling her room. Kenma, sitting beside her, had his eyes stuck to his console per usual.
“(Last name),” Noboyuki nods, holding out a fruit basket. “we brought you fruits.”
Her smile grew, touched by the gesture. “Thank you, Kai!”
Kenma puts away his console and takes the fruit basket from the taller lad, putting it on a nearby table. He plucks an orange and disappears into the washroom, momentarily leaving (Name) with the Nekoma team.
“(Last Name)-san, your hair!” Inuoka pointed out. “It’s grown so much!”
She laughed at his comment, touching her hair consciously. “Yes, it has. My head feels lighter, actually.”
“Then, you’re keeping it short?”
She hums, tapping her finger to her chin in thought. “Who knows?”
“It looks good, actually,” Yaku commented. “Then again, it’s your hair, so it’s your choice.”
After the short pleasantries, the boys headed towards the couch and sat down, Fukunaga flipping through the channels. Kenma emerges from the washroom, sitting in his spot next to her.
“Ah, it’s your mom’s turn to watch you, right?” Noboyuki asked, sitting on the couch.
She hummed, nodding, Kenma placing the oranges on a table in front of her as he plumped and propped some pillows behind her, making sure that she was comfortable. When he was done, he sat down and began to unpeel his orange, (Name) mimicking him.
“Although" she broke into a sigh, breaking off pieces of the orange "I just wish I could get out of here, it’s so stuffy in here. Not to mention, it gets kind of scary at night.” She shuddered, blaming it on the time when the boys from Fukurodani visited and Bokuto, who had been channel surfing, stopped upon a horror film – particularly on a very scary scene. Lest to say, she didn’t sleep well that night and Bokuto was nearly banned from visiting her again.
“That’s understandable, hospitals tend to be scary,” Noboyuki says kindly.
“You can say that again!” roared Yamamoto.
“Yamamoto, shut up.” Yaku reprimands the loud-mouthed boy.
“Lev, how’s your read block training going?” as soon as the question was asked, the Russian tensed, beginning to sweat profusely.
“A-Ah, it’s going great!”
“He still sucks at it,” Kenma says, munching on a slice of orange with his eyes glued to his game console. “And no amount of practice seems to work, it’s like he’s meant for failure.”
“You can say that again,” says Yamamoto, arms folded against his chest. “he’s a hopeless cause.”
“H-Hey, I’ve been practicing!”
“Bless Nekomata-sensei for ever thinking you had a chance.”
“Yaku-san, not you, too!”
“Time to scoot, little newt!”
“Goddamn it, Fukunaga!”
(Name) couldn’t help but laugh, missing her rowdy boys.
A month of being holed in here was enough to drive anyone insane – everything was too gray, too cold and too dull. It meant so much to her whenever someone came to visit, bringing color to her room and warmth to her heart. Even as they all ganged up on Lev, she knew they really cared. And as far as Kenma’s told him – being vice-captain and all, Lev’s actually not bad. Though, he is quite clumsy with executing his offense and defense. She missed this, she really did.
But the thing was, it just wasn’t the same anymore.
Tumblr media
It was hard to be around him anymore, that was a fact.
When she woke up, it looked like she had emerged from a different world. Kuroo quickly called the doctors, happy tears slipping down his face. Too happy to know that she finally woke up – after six months! – he almost forgot to ring her parents of her recovery.
A few hours later, when she slowly came to, he walked back in the room. Happy tears filled the room, the happy parents engulfing their finally awakened sleeping beauty.
But at the sight of him, she suddenly shook and cried – Kuroo quickly ran out of the room before anyone told him to, for her sake. All his worst fears came to life.
The doctors had assured him that it was just the effects of being unconscious for so long – it was difficult to adjust to her surroundings and the people she cared about. Her mind might still be subjected to her previous mindset, long before she went into a coma. So, when she woke up, there was a lot to take in for her. But with the help of doctors, her family, and friends, she was able to come through.
In a span of two weeks, (Name) was showing progress with her recovery. She was still subjected to strains when she overworked herself, especially when it came to brain exercise. But overall, she was doing well, her energy revitalized with the support of her family and friends. And ever since she woke up, there’s not a day when a friend – from Nekoma or Fukurodani – would drop by and visit.
In fact, the only time she ever seemed comfortable was when he wasn’t in the scene. She was much more comfortable with being in the presence of others than with his. And that hurt.
Things just weren’t the same anymore.
She knew that.
He knew that.
And it was all because of that one mistake of his. Just the thought of it made his gut churn, his hands balled into fists, his anger to rise, geared towards him.
There was no questioning of her newfound fear of him, after all, it was also his fault. Kuroo accepted his fate wholeheartedly, even though it killed him.
He could hear his thoughts twisting: of the reason that he stayed, was to ease himself of the guilt, to make him feel better about himself.
So, he came up with a decision, once she’s done with her rehab, when she finally gets discharged, he’ll leave her alone. As much as it pained him, he knew it was for the best.
After all, who was he in her life anymore?
Tumblr media
“To light the night, to help us grow…” she mumbled, jolting down her notebook. “It is not said I always know…” Her nose scrunches, having hit a block. Frustrated, she throws her hand in the air, looking around her quiet room. Everything looked too dull, too gray. Instinctively, her hands reached to her right, where her ukulele usually lay, only to find it sitting on the chair across her – her father, had visited earlier and played her a song in an attempt to cheer her up.
(Name) sat up, turns to her side to lower the rail before sliding her feet off the bed. The cold tingle on her toes was a sensation she never knew she’d want to feel again, having been bedridden for months. Taking deep breaths, she lifted her feet off, remembering to bear the weight – feeling like a toddler walking for the first time.
Just as she reached her ukulele, a harsh voice called out. “Didn’t the doctor say you aren’t supposed to strain yourself?”
She looked up, meeting Kuroo’s furious gaze, seeing her out of bed.
Technically, according to the doctor, she could walk quite well now and advised her to do some exercise when she can. Kuroo couldn’t help but overreact.
“B-But…” without a word, he gently helped her back to her bed. She didn’t argue, her mission to grab her ukulele forgotten.
He sighed, pulling up a chair. “You do want to get out, right?” She nods, slowly, withdrawing her fingers away.
“D-Dr. Ishioka says I’m good to walk now.”
“Is that so?” she nods, like a petulant child. Kuroo sighs, eyes apologetic. “I’m sorry for overreacting.”
“It’s okay.” Relaxing, she offered him a gentle smile, which lasted for a minute before realizing the bags under his eyes, how bloodshot his eyes were. “You seem tired.”
“Hm,” he yawned, massaging his throbbing temples. “shitty customer, don’t worry about it.”
“You should sleep.” she offered.
“I’ll be fine,” he calls off, turning his back to look for something to do, anything to avoid her eyes.
“Kuroo Tetsuroo,” she called, using her tone – one he and Kenma were fairly familiar with, even the team. It pleased her to see him tense, slowly facing her. A triumphant smile was ready to break into her face, but concern about his welfare won over.
His shoulders slumped, surrendering. That made her smile, a tiny bit triumphant, before patting on her side. Instead, Kuroo resigned to sitting on a chair next to her bedside, leaning forward to rest his head on his folded arms.
“Are you sure you don’t want to lie down?” she offered, clearly displeased.
“I’m fine like this,” he tells her softly. I got used to it.
She looked like she wanted to argue but quickly closed her mouth shut. She moved closer so that he was laying on her lap. “Tetsuroo?”
“Hmm?”
“I-I wanna go to the gardens tomorrow, to stretch my legs.”
“All day?”
She nodded shyly, determined.
“Okay then, walking all day it is. By the way, how’s the song coming?”
Her shoulders fell, dejected. “It’s coming…I’m just stuck…”
Kuroo laughed, muffled by the sheets. And then he broke into a yawn, his head heavy, throbbing, eyelids drooping close but he fought to stay awake. Thin fingers soothingly ran through his hair, like they usually did, easing the tension from his head and replacing it with the sense of calmness.
“Hey, (Name)?” She leaned close, face illuminated by the moonlight. How he wanted to touch her face. “Sing me a song?
Smoothing her fingers through his hair, a soft smile crept its way to his lips, especially when she began to sing. His heart tugged, slowly beating faster – he always loved hearing her sing with or without an instrument. In one exhale, his subconscious slipping, the last thing he heard was her sweet voice and the beating of his heart.
Tumblr media
“Hey, (Name).”
“Hm?”
“Why have you been avoiding Kuroo?”
She froze, slowly turning her head to blond-dyed teen beside her, hands folded against his chest and console free. He watched her from the corner of his eye, golden eyes inquisitive, waiting.
“Of course, you knew.” She smiled, leaning into his shoulder. “It’s not that I’m avoiding him…it’s just,” she lifted her hands, making gestures before letting them fall. “I-I don’t know how to talk to him...I’m not sure I want to. Just…being around him makes me feel like a black hole if that even makes sense.” The blank TV screen in front of her bed reflected the two, lying side by side on her bed, but she could also see the view outside her window – a dark blanket of night, the moon obscured by clouds.
“Hey, Kenma?” There was a question she was dying to ask, gnawing her the moment she woke up. She wasn’t even sure if she was ready for the answer, regardless of what it was. “My mind’s a bit fuzzy, and I was unconscious and all, but I do remember voices in the dark.” Swallowing thickly, she says. “A-And I swore I heard Tetsuroo.”
Kenma’s eyes noticeable widened, his shoulders heavy from bearing weights of two sides. In his head, he was debating whether he should tell her or not – he was obligated to, after all.
“Yeah, that was him.” He exhaled, recalling the past six months. “Kuroo didn’t leave your side since he found out you were admitted.”
She let out a weak gasp, the dam breaking. Alarmed, the blonde turned to his friend. “Why are you crying? Are you happy? Sad?”
“Both.” She sobbed, crying against his shoulder. But also, she felt incredibly guilty.
Kenma sighed, really, these two were a handful. When they talked, they both had to be careful of the other, as if they threaded on thin ice. He’s had enough of bearing their secrets, especially when it concerned the other – it made him the third wheel.
But as frustrating as they were, they were still his friends and he cared about them.
Tumblr media
A few months into (Name) under coma, Kuroo Tetsuroo received word that he had been qualified for the colleges he applied for, one, in particular, was in the United Kingdom. Driven by guilt, he had to turn down their offers of scholarships for her, too broken to even take a step forward.
A day after she woke up, he called the admissions, asking if he was still qualified. To his luck, he still was.
Although the semester wouldn’t be until next month, Kuroo’s things were all packed. He didn’t bother saying a word to anyone, it was for the best.
It was a dick move, but then again, he was a dick.
This was the biggest leap of faith in his life, the opportunity of a lifetime, he had to take it. Yet, as much as his heart yearned for it, it felt like he was taking the easy way out.
He’ll miss Tokyo, his home, his family, his friends.
But what he’ll miss the most was her.
It’ll be alright, he thought to himself. After all, she’ll be off to college, her dream school, where she can start anew.
And as much as he hated the thought of it, he knew that she’ll meet someone else, someone who’ll treasure her in ways he failed to.
Tumblr media
It felt surreal to be outside again, to have the sun and the wind kiss her skin. Hands instinctively flew to her hair as the wind picked up, remembering that it was still growing and it was cropped short.
What’s more surreal was the audition she got for her dream school, which was in a week’s time, having considered her situation. Nekoma was going to have a practice match soon with Karasuno, a mini-reunion was planned by the two schools. She was finally going to meet Kenma’s special someone he met at a Game Expo. It was almost too much for her heart to take.
But something was missing in all this fanfare – Kuroo.
For days, she hasn’t heard a word from him, hasn’t seen from him since. If she traced it back, it started just a day before she was released. She missed him. She really did. Her heart ached just to see a familiar hide of messy black hair, his gangly form, his easy smile.
And then she received a call from Bokuto, frantically telling her that Kuroo was at the hospital.
Apparently, he was out drinking with a few friends and suddenly got into a fight. Although he started it, he didn’t fight back, allowing the guy to beat him to a pulp. Had Bokuto not been there and Kuroo’d be critical.
Without a word, she ran out of her house, thoughts flying to Kuroo.
Upon arrival, her heart broke at the sight of him, hating that his arm was bandaged, the bruises and stitches on his face. She had the exact look of heartbreak when he saw her, all the guilt washed over her as she rushed to his side.
“What happened to you, Tetsurou?” he smelled of blood, dirt, sweat, and alcohol, but she didn’t care. “I know you’re one to pick fights, but I never thought you’d go this far.”
He turned away, avoiding her in eyes. That hurt. Kenma’s words surfaced, making her heart twinge.
“What’s she doing here?” he asked Bokuto angrily, completely ignoring her presence. She flinched at his tone, mind flashing to a certain memory.
“She was the best person to call,” Akaashi answered calmly, appearing next to the grey-haired teen. “Kuroo-san, go home. And more importantly, you and (Last name)-san need to talk.”
“Eh? But Akaashi, don’t you think Kuroo’s out of it?”
“I’m very much sober, thank you very much.” Kuroo threw a glare at the raven-haired setter, ignoring Bokuto’s concern, or (Name)’s.
After being given painkillers, Kuroo was good to go. And before anyone could stop him, he walked out of the hospital.
(Name) looked at the two teens worriedly before chasing after him, calling after his retreating form. But he didn’t look back, not even once. She didn’t stop chasing after him either.
Finally, he stopped by the riverside next to the bridge – the same one she found he and Kenma some years ago. Although puzzled, she followed him down the steps. Knowing that she was behind him, that she wouldn’t leave him alone, Kuroo sighed – ignoring the pain from his chest. He sat down, she took it as an invitation, sitting a step above him.
The silence between them was thick with a heavy weight of guilt wrought by the past few months, hearts burdened heavily. It was almost unbearable to even breathe, running away was the perfect option, yet the two stayed, another option weighing heavier.
They remain like that for at least an hour, the night growing older with every second. Two teenagers too afraid to tell the other what they wanted to say, fear holding them back.
Finally, for what seemed like forever, Kuroo exhaled through his nose, a heavy sigh. That was never a good sign. “I’m going to Cambridge.”
Her head whipped to him, he worried she’d get a whiplash. But she didn’t, her world just stopped. “W-What…?”
Sighing again, he pressed his forehead to his palms, unable to meet her eyes. It wasn’t what he wanted to say, but this was for the best.
“The next semester won’t start until next month, but in a few days or weeks, I was called to take a test and offered a scholarship. So, I leave sometime this month.”
She could feel her heart twisting with every word he said, and she hated it – hated the way he talked to her, hated how he seemed to avoid her. Then again, she pretty much did the same thing when she woke up. She missed him, she really did.
Brought by the pent-up emotions she’s been feeling, she called out, in a shaky tone. “Hey, Tetsu, won’t you listen to my song?”
Song? He peeked up at her. So, she finally got to finish her song.
Swallowing hard, she reached for her ukulele – the sight of the band-aid sent a sharp pain in his heart, a painful reminder – fingers positioned over the strings, shaking just by a fraction. Before he could stop her, she glanced up at him and began singing.
  I love this place
But haunted without you
My tired heart is beating so slow
Our hearts sing less than we wanted
We wanted
Our hearts sing cause
We do not know
We do not know
Her singing was as gentle as her music, enough to bring tears to his eyes.
He was reminded of the many times she’d sing to him, in times when he was at his lowest. To cheer him up, all it took was a few comforting words, a gentle smile, a warm hug, or her offering a song. It was cheesy, but he loved it, especially because when she sang to him, it would be only him and just him alone, making it very personal for him. He was selfish like that, especially with her.
  To light the night
To help us grow
To help us grow
It is not said I always know
Of course, you don’t, he thought laughingly.
He could feel the longing in her voice, the loneliness – it made her seem like she was a princess locked up in a tower. Its lyrics tugged at him, knowing the feeling so well.
When their eyes met, he saw the young woman he fell in love with when they were 8, the young woman who held his heart now.
  You can catch me
Don't you run
Don't you run
If you live another day in this happy little house
The fire’s here to stay
The emotion in her eyes made his throat dry, tugging his heart – did she just?
  To light the night
To help us grow
To help us grow
It is not said I always know
His heart was hammering wildly against his chest, a rush of emotions burning inside, igniting his veins. The words were at the tip of his tongue, heart ready to burst out of his chest to tell her.
But not just yet, he didn’t want to jinx it, couldn’t bring himself to, he wanted to hear more.
  Please don't make a fuss
It won't go away
The wonder of it all the wonder that I made
I am here to stay
I am here to stay
Stay
Overwhelmed by her emotions, by the pent-up emotions she’s withheld for so long, tears began streaming down her face uncontrollably. Alarmed, Kuroo quickly took her ukulele aside and enveloped her in his arms.
At his touch, everything she’s been holding in surfaced - missing him, loving him. “I’m sorry!” she cried, returning the hug, tightening her hold on him. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
“No, don’t say you’re sorry.” He pulls back to plant a kiss to her forehead, thumbs brushing her tears away. “Don’t you ever feel sorry, (Name).” He whispered against her skin.
Kenma’s neutral look of displeasure came to mind. He felt like an idiot. How could he be so stupid to have dismissed her feelings over his?
(Name) couldn't stop crying, her heart was so full of emotions that it seemed like it would burst anytime. She felt loved, so loved in Kuroo's arms - from the boy she's loved for so long. And somehow, his embrace made everything better, everything was forgiven, forgotten – yet, it made things worse at the same time.
“Tetsurou, please don’t go…” glossy (eye color) eyes begging, his heart aching. She couldn't take not having him by her side, couldn't take the thought of losing him. “Don’t go, please.” Gentle hands reached up to cup his face, tears continuing to stream down. “Stay, please.”
Oh, those (eye color) eyes, she had no idea of its effect on him.
“Stay?”
Placing his larger hands in hers, he leaned his forehead with hers, their noses bumping.
“Always.”

hey so like.. ion know if you write snz fics but. if you do could you do like- kenma and kuroo and sick kenma?? ty🥺i love snz fics so👉👈
I’ve never written snz before, but I hope this is okay!
The moment Kenma's crusty eyes creaked open, removing the only barrier from his irisis and the brutal glow of the morning sun, he knew today was going to be far from a good day. A distinct heaviness weighed down on each of his slender limbs, causing the bed to feel far more comfortable than it actually was. He felt like he was a character in the video game he had just pulled 3 consecutive all nighters playing, weakened by the antagonists ability to control gravity.
Congestion affected his nose, branching up to a gnawing pressure behind his forehead and a tickle around his eyes. Kenma sniffed in, rubbing at his numb nose with the rough sleeve of his favorite red sweatshirt. The pitiful attempt to clear his sinuses didn't work, it only succeeded in dirtying his sleeve and kindle the itch pressing down inside.
He twitched his nose in an effort to suffocate the itch, his whole lower face moving in unison with his nose as he finally pulled himself to a sitting position off his bed. The itch only grew, encouraged by the movement.
Kenma took a sharp breath in, his face scrunching and eyes squinting as his shuddered breath continued. Once his lungs were filled with the crips air, his chest squeezed, forcing all the air- and quite a bit of other substance- to exit through his nose and mouth. He didn't bother putting his arm up to cover his mouth, he was alone anyways. The thought of his solitude reminded him of his obligation to attend morning practice.
It was a bad idea, he decided, the snot dripping freely from his nose heavily influencing his desicion.
Besides, he wasn't like his other teammates who blatently disregarded their physical health and waltzed into practice with one foot in the grave.
So, with a yawn, he rubbed his eyes with his clammy hands then patted the blanket in search of where his phone had ended up last night. Once he found it tucked between the wall, he pulled it out and shot Tetsurou, his walking partner who he didn't want waiting, a simple message.
Sick. Go on without me.
Short, sweet and to the point.
Satisfied with his doing, Kenma tossed his phone aside and ducked his head under the covers. Heat rolled up and down his body in waves, the lack of oxygen tainting the air with a distinct thickness. In other words, it was far too uncomfortable to properly sleep in. Which left Kenma to twist and toss his body in search of an aerodynamic position to provide the ideal healing temperature. Once satisfied, or as satisfied as he could get in the stuffy room, he allowed his heavy eyes to drift.
Sleep slowly began over taking the ill boy, it's soft arms encompassing him as cold discomfort fought to maintain his conciousness.
"The door's unlocked, I'm coming in!" A voice yelled from down the hall.
Kenma's eyes shot open, anger weighing his brows down over his eyes. With a groan he pulled himself to a sitting position.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He croaked, vocal cords weak.
"Your message scared me, plus todays gonna be boring," Tetsurou explained simply, stepping into Kenma's room, "whew! It's hot as hell in here!"
Walking across the room as if it were his own, Tetsurou lifted the heavy window open. Dust, which had been resting on the sill, exploded out, covering the room like a fog.
"Whens the last time you opened this?" Tetsurou questioned between coughs.
Kenma made a noise which sounded suspiciously like a hiss before coughing on the dust. Breathing only sucked the particles up his nose, fueling the omnipresent tickle. Rubbing at his nose, Kenma tried to itch- which only resulted in dirty hands and an even stronger discomfort.
Breathing in sharply, Kenma sneezed, not bothering to cover his mouth. As he was refilling his lungs, another sneeze took over his body, the suddeness of it and lack of air pushing him to a sit on the edge of his bed. Another sneeze attacked him before he had a chance to breath in.
Pain stabbed at his chest as his lungs were treated like a broken whoopee cushion.
"Woah woah woah, what was that?" Tetsurou gaped, sitting next to Kenma, "just breathe."
Kenma scowled, "I'm trying!"
Mercifully, that was the end of the fit. Air filled Kenma's lungs safely once more, though his nose did still feel quite uncomfortable. He sniffed a couple of times before Tetsurou took the queue to grab some tissues.
"Thanks," he mumbled, grabbing a handful of tissues and working on clearing his sinuses.
"Want some tea? I brought the bags that my mom makes me when I'm sick," Tetsurou offered.
Kenma thought over the offer for a second before deciding he craved the familiar comfort of a cup of tea. Nodding to Tetsurou, his face still covered with tissues, he expressed his want for tea.
"Don't burn the house down," he teased.
"That was one time!"
"Let's keep it that way."
Despite himself, Kenma found himself smiling at their exchange. Though one half of him hated Tetsurou for coming here a bothering him on his day off, the other half was flooded with fond appreciation for his actions. Happiness fluttered in his chest as a comfortable contentness overtook his body.
Tossing the tissues aside, he pulled himself up to change his shirt. Snot covered the sleeves and it screamed health hazard.
Stretching his arms for the first time that day and wincing when pain briefly stabbed at his eyes, Kenma walked over to his closet. He yawned while pulling his shirt off, the soft fabric around the neck tickling his face.
Before his yawn even came to a conclusion, a sneeze forced it's way out. Quickly pulling off the rest of his shirt, Kenma sneezed into the balled up fabric. His shoulders rose and fell as each sneeze came and went, his body becoming unable to breathe out without it morphing into a sneeze.
Black spots began fuzzing his vision as his legs trembled. Still, the sneezes persisted. His knees gave out, and once on the floor his torso gave up on holding itself up. Curling in on himself, he continued to muffle the sneezes into his shirt.
"Hey hey, are you okay?" Tetsturou voice was loud with concern.
Kenma shook his head, his body shaking.
"Oh, pickles!" Tetsurou muttered his version of a swear words.
"Pickles?" Kenma forced out, "did you just say fucking pickles?"
Surprise and confused annoyance distracted him.
"Holy shit, it worked."
"What worked?"
"I read online that saying that word makes you stop sneezing."
Kenma blinked.
"Just go make the tea."

us, forever
prolouge | part one
series masterlist
kuroo x reader
angst, fluff
this is an au!
——————————
heading out of the tent, you follow kuroo tiredly. did he have to wake you up?
captain locked eyes with you once you finished your breakfast at the fire.
“kuroo. (l/n).”
you both straightened your backs a bit more
“yes sir.”
captain walked to both you, slowly.
“what took you so damn long? never mind. i don’t want to hear it. both of you are on morning patrol.”
you both nodded your head, grabbing your weapons, and heading out of camp.
“good job baby. got us yelled at again.” kuroo laughed at you once you two where alone.
you punched his shoulder lightly and laughed.
“again? last time it was you, tetsu.” you barked back.
everything was fine on patrol, so he decided you two could sit for a bit.
“tetsu. that could get us yelled at again.”
kuroo kissed your forehead and laughed lightly.
“come on, baby, we never get alone time anymore.”
you rolled your eyes and sat down by the nearest tree.
“alright. you’re taking the blame if we get caught.”
he plopped down and put his arms around your shoulders. you rested back against him and but your head on his shoulder. the trust you had in kuroo let you close your eyes.
kuroo noticed this, and watched you sleeping for a bit. he let his mind wander to last night.
you rested your head in his lap as he played with your hair.
you let a question slip, one that has been bugging you for a while.
“testurou?”
he hummed back in response, and looked you in your eyes.
“do you think, in another life without all of,” you gestured to the maps on the floor for the next attack and the spears layed out and ready “this, and the monsters,”
he nodded, “go on.”
“do you think we’d still be together?”
his fingers stopped threading through your hair.
“of course, baby. even if i have to travel the world to find you, i want to be with you.” he murmured.
you felt warm, salty puddles start to to gather at the corners of your eyes.
“right. because it’s us, forever- right?” you whispered, and sat up to face him.
“yeah. us, forever.” he whispered back.
the alarm that sounded through camp pulled him out of his daydream.
“fuck, baby, we need to go.” kuroo said, standing up and pulling out his bow.
he was a little too late.
the shadowy, tall creature came around the corner and locked eyes with kuroo.
“run, go get help. Y/N RUN-“ kuroo yelled over the alarm.
the creature took a swing and kuroo and you yelled back,
“TETSUROU, DONT GET KILLED WHILE IM GONE, DUMBASS!”
he sent you a smirk and a wink, though it was stupid, because you two are in danger, help ease your stress.
you ran through the trail back, jumping over roots.
“KUROO IS OUT FIGHTING ONE UP NORTH! SEND HELP!” you yelled at camp, seeing everyone gear up due to the alarm.
the patrol team captain sent you back with ran back with you, and once you reached kuroo, he was pretty bloody, but still breathing.
the only problem being that they had multiplied, and now there were five.
“shit.” you said under your breath, and threw yourself into the fight.
the fight was a blur.
you could see how hard kuroo was fighting made you forget about your own injuries.
kuroo had slipped and fell while trying to fend them off, and you got distracted.
that was your mistake, you should have know kuroo can handle himself.
everything went black for a bit.
when you regained consciousness, you were with kuroo.
you made a sound, because you weren’t sure if you can form words.
“hey. hey baby. i’m right here. they’re all dead. it’s okay. i’m here. it’s fine. you’re fine, baby. it’s okay.”
you smiled. you felt very relaxed.
“testurou. i cant feel my leg.”
he smiled back at you.
“it’s okay baby. i’m here. don’t worry about your leg. the medics will be here any second. i’m right here.”
you felt very sleepy.
“i love you tetsurou.”
you could see now that he was crying.
“i love you too. you’re going to be alright, i’m right here with you. it’s okay. just hold on. for me.”
he intertwined your fingers and kissed you.
your eyes felt very droopy again.
“you’re really handsome, tetsturou.”
he laughed quietly.
“thank you baby. how do you feel?”
“tired.”
“okay. you can rest when the medics are done with you after they get here, okay? just stay with me.”
“i love you testurou. i love you.”
is this what dying was like? you weren’t panicking, or screaming. it was like snuggling with your tetsurou after a long day. it was warm. he was here.
you felt your eyes close, and kuroo try and talk to you.
“no, no no no, baby. baby please stay here. i need you, stay. please baby no no. i’m right here please baby,”
everything slowly faded away.

Slasher Films (fic)
Tumblr media
Tetsurou doesn’t care for the screaming or the ominous music playing behind him.
He couldn't care less what tacky, low-budget slasher film Kei picked this time around. His love for Kei’s chin nestled in the crook of his neck and the wandering, floaty kisses he nuzzles into Tetsurou’s cheek keep him uncaring and all but facing away from the screen.
KRTSKI/ T/ 930w
Fluff + kisses and cuddles
Read on AO3
Someone is screaming murder while dying a bloody, violent death.
Tetsurou doesn’t flinch, doesn’t even turn his head away from his phone to look at the movie playing on screen.
Kei comes back from the kitchen and sits, open and uncovered until Tetsurou crawls into his lap. Tetsurou couldn't care less about the plot line, or the movie, or the empty bowl of popcorn right next to him on the couch, so he works in contorting his body to fit Kei’s laid back posture, wiggling to get closer. It’s a challenge to get close, both of them being more limb than anything else but they make it work. Kei’s arms worm around his middle, fingers running up and down the span of Tetsurou’s back.
Kei snorts, the way he does when someone gets killed in an impossible terrible manner and the hard exhale tickles Tetsurou’s nape, making him shudder, and in turn, making Kei hold him tighter. Tetsurou is all for people getting shanked badly on film.
“If he hadn’t started running like a chicken with its head cut off, maybe he would have lived halfway through the movie.”
“Uh-huh.”
Kei keeps going. “If you saw a gigantic bird-like creature with four eyes in the middle of the night, what would you do?”
“Usually I just go back to bed next to you.”
“Feeling funny, aren’t you.”
Tetsurou blows a raspberry into Kei’s neck. “Compared to you? Always.”
Kei one-ups him by burying his face in Tetsurou’s neck and blowing one directly into his weak spot. It triggers Tetsurou’s fight or flight instinct because he’s severely ticklish and Kei knows this, the ass, so he squirms and tries to pull away while Kei laughs and holds him down so he doesn’t slip away from his lap and “crack his pretty little head open on the floor. ”
Tetsurou settles in again, his chin fitting into the crevice of Kei’s neck. Kei has gotten taller, his body filling out and getting sturdier.
“Why are people so dumb? If they simply had a functioning brain cell, they would not be getting murdered by a glorified chicken.”
Tetsurou chances a look at the screen, turning his head just in time to see someone lose their wrist and jettison a disturbingly large amount of blood. “That’s not how bodies work.”
Kei gives him a look. They’ve had this conversation a thousand times, it’s why Tetsurou considers this Kei-Cuddle-Time instead of watching the film. Kei braves it, one more time. “It’s not supposed to be real, it’s supposed to have shock value.”
“Well, I am shocked. Shocked at how bad it is.”
Kei chides him, resigned. “Tetsurou.”
Tetsurou is gearing up to protest, and he’s stopped. Kei acts put out but there’s a smile to his lips when he gives Kuroo another kiss, a soft lingering one by his temple and Tetsturou exhales all the fine points he was about to make about the importance of correct portrayals of physics in film and television.
Kei’s fingers start the slow treck up and down his spine, all the way to the undercut he got as a dare a year ago and kept maintaining out of spite. He sighs into Kei, boneless and enamored.
Tetsurou falls asleep by no fault of his own. He closes his eyes himself, but Kei plays with his hair and gently caresses his neck with a slow cadence--It feels like it’s fair to say that he is in no way responsible for a nap nuzzled in his boyfriend’s lap.
Kei’s careful shifting wakes him. “Shh. Go back to sleep.”
“What. Who died.”
“You did.”
“When?”
“About thirty minutes ago, when the movie ended.”
Tetsurou groans.
Kei laughs.  “Let’s go to bed.”
Tetsurou shakes his head lightly and starts the process of untangling his limbs.“Give me a sec.”
“I got you.” Kei scoops him tighter and gets up with Tetsurou in his arms before he says anything. Tetsurou scrambles to hold on to him, legs crossing behind his back.
Kei hoists him once, to get a good grip and starts the walk to their shared bedroom.“When did you get so heavy?”
Tetsurou mumbles into Kei’s sweater. “Don’t call me fat.”
Kei huffs, straining with effort. Somehow manages to slap Tetesurou’s ass in retaliation. “I did not say that. Besides, you’re not fatter, just heavier. Training with Bokuto is paying off.”
“It better. I’m always sore now.” Tetsurou hums. “I’m surprised you can lift me with your twig arms.”
That earns him a hard pinch to his bottom and a violent toss straight into their messy bed.
Tetsurou bounces, one, twice and melts into the mattress. He is not moving a single finger, just closing his eyes and going back to sleep.
A light goes off to his right and Kei rummages through their closet.  He crawls into bed with fresh pajamas on and after lowering all the blinds. Kei burrows next to him. His glasses are poking Tetsurou’s side but he’s too endeared to ask his boyfriend to please stop jabbing his ribs with his new, delicate eyewear. Tetsurou sighs, “I love you.”
Kei grunts in response.
Tetsurou pokes hard at what he can reach. “Bitch, say it back.”
Kei grunts harder.

Kuroo Tetsturou: Study Date
(2/22/17 first post!! Im so heavily Kuroo biased)
Kuroo tetsurou x reader (the slightest nsfw)
“So if the limit of the series approaches zero, then the series MIGHT converge, ok?” You glance up from your Calc homework to your mischievously grinning boyfriend leaning on his hand and staring at you. “Tetsu are you even listening? The final is TOMORROW!” “But you’re too cute y/n-chan. You’re distracting me.” You roll your eyes at him and quickly look away before he notices your reddening face. Too late. “Come on, lets take a break” he whispers in your ear and licks the shell of your ear, causing you to both shiver and heat up at the same time. “Aw look at you. I love it when you’re flustered y/n-chan” he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you into his lap. “T-tetsu… w-we have to finish studying,” you stutter, but you let his hands slide up your shirt nonetheless. “We’ve been staring at math for so long now. Come sleep with me…” “Im not going to have sex with you right now, idiot…” “Sex? I was asking you to take a cat nap with me, kitten…. but since sex is on your mind….” he smirks and nips at your neck “S-shut up…” “Im just teasing you, y/n. Please at least nap with me.” He stares at you with pleading golden eyes. “….fine,” you give in, “but we need to continue later ok?” “Sex?” “STUDYING!!!”
