tfw. this is what listening to in my dreams on loop and reading lang leav does. ooh! i don’t know if matty remembers but this was meant to be the original reason in the last word.. aha.. ha..

someone once wrote that communication is key to a happy relationship. so you took it as an assurance that you're going to do the right thing. but after almost an hour of going back and forth with your lover, your belief in those words is wavering.

“i just want to spend some time with you, is that too much to ask?” you argue weakly, shaky fingers fiddling with the charm hung on your chain. it was meant to symbolize a promise; supposed to make you feel safe. but now, pinch by pinch, it's suffocating you.

“no it's not, but the thing is we can do that another day.” eric pauses to slide his foot in his sneaker, the one he never bothers to undo the laces beforehand, even though doing so would make his life easier. “right now, i want to go hang out with my friends.”

“okay, fine.”

defeat no longer tastes sour on your tongue, so you easily swallow it and turn around. after taking a few steps towards your bedroom (because he's no longer around enough to keep his claim on the space), you hear him call your name. and though you shouldn't, you shift on your heel to face him.

“come on bumblebee, don't be like this..” the weirdest thing is he actually holds his arms out; as if he believes you'll fall into his embrace.

disbelief tickles you, prompting laughter to slip from your lips. “like what? like an idiot who actually hoped that by telling their boyfriend how they feel, they'll be heard and understood?”

“what are you talking about? i always listen to you.” eric retorts, arms now hanging by his sides, and brows furrowed to meet in the middle.

“yet you don't try to understand how i feel! what hurts even more than that is the fact that i'm the one who always adjusts to make this work. i'm the one who pretends that constantly being blown off by their boyfriend because he has some project or test to review for is okay. i'm the one who does nothing but put a band aid over the repetitive stab to my heart whenever someone has the fucking guts to flirt with you, even though i'm right there.

and now that you finally have a day off, you actually expect me to be okay with the fact that you want to spend it with the people you're with every single day, rather than the person who has sacrificed time, rest, friendships, even my own sanity, to be with you.”

after pouring everything out, you feel like a weight has been lifted off your exhausted body. your worn soul no longer feels like it's cracking under the pressure that comes as an accessory in the dating a ‘golden’ boy pack. you're almost free—you just have one more question.

“you always choose them.” with your last speck of hope, you tug that loose thread that's been dangling at the forefront of your mind for far too long. “what about me, am i not a priority?”

in his hesitation you found your answer.

Noveria. Practically Illium but nestled in what’s now Alliance space. It makes sense that they would find Cerberus here. Noveria doesn’t look any different to Kaidan; mountain peaks in the distance, snow everywhere, winds that threaten to knock him on his ass. Their approach is like Peak-15’s: dodge turret fire and go through the front door. They crouch behind the fighter jet that’s on the landing pad, the turret firing on them. Coats cloaks though, moving right to survey while Riley starts her hack of the turrets. “Seems like they’re willing to let the turrets do the work,” Coats comments through the comm. “Or they don’t want to be in this cold. Fucking hell,” Fredricks grumbles next to him. He even adds in a shiver for emphasis. “Why’d we have to come in the middle of a blizzard?” “Riley?” Kaidan asks instead. It’s like the wind swirls up ghosts of snow. Garrus asked the same thing. “These things are old Alliance. Just another minute.” The turrets stop a minute later. “We wanna draw ‘em out or go in headfirst?” Kaidan asks. Fredricks hefts his rifle and Kaidan knows he’s smiling behind his helmet. “I say we kick down the front door.” “And walk into an ambush?” Riley retorts. “Let’s draw them out.” “The more we kill out here, the less we have to fight inside," Kaidan agrees. “But inside is warm,” Fredricks responds to him. “Do you always complain this much?” Riley asks. “Only when my balls are about to freeze off.”

But there’s one stretching almost from left armpit to hip. It’s wider than the others, definitely longer. She’s got a Grand Canyon from hell carved into her body. The glow of it seems to pulsate with her heartbeat.

Kal places his hand under Nihlus’ chin, his throat, keeping him there as he moves the brush. Kal starts around his eyes, sweeping around them and then up in bold strokes. He’s never done this before— either of them. Kal marking a turian, and Nihlus letting anyone but family or an artist do it. He tightens his hands on Kal’s thighs. It doesn’t seem like Kal hasn’t, not with how sure Kal’s movements are. He’s humming as well, and Nihlus has to tap down his own responsive noise to that. He doesn’t want to distract the man after all. A lone finger under his chin as he drags the brush down it in the three stripes.

The Kal Project take 2: Kal POV

During Kal’s break, he finds Shepard at the galaxy map. While he wasn’t intentionally seeking her out, it is nice to have run into her. The map is transformed to a hologram of a planet, most likely the one they’re orbiting, and her hands are outstretched, manipulating two circular holograms in front of her. There’s a graph to the side, fluctuating with its spikes. He leans against her desk on the left, crossing his arms as he watches her. She’s utterly focused on her work, with that familiar scowl pinching her brow. His eyes trace the scar on her cheek, and then the line of her jaw to follow down her neck. He can feel himself blush as he follows it all the way down her biceps and forearms to her hands once more. Ancestors, she’s beautiful. “Something interesting, Kal?” Her head is turned toward him now, when he snaps his head up to meet her eyes. He gives a little shake to his head. “Just you.” She scoffs, looking forward again, but she doesn’t quite smother her grin. After a moment of staring at the hologram, she looks to him once more and juts her head. “Well, come on.” He lets out a little “yay,” as he eagerly straightens and ascends the steps to stand next to her.

Joker always thought Ashley was exaggerating about getting trapped in awkward elevator rides but here he is. Joker stands like a normal person in it, in the middle, simply watching the numbers tick down. James on the other hand, leans against the wall with his hands in his pockets. Staring at him. On principle, Joker doesn’t stare at the way his Henley stretches across his chest. It’s like every shirt the man owns is a size too small.

Christmas tradition. Everything the past two weeks have been about Christmas traditions according to Joker. Burnt cookies stinking up the battery from how bad Jack made them. Multicolored lights everywhere Jacob could put them and, in some places, where he shouldn’t. Glitter… everywhere. Mistletoe. The little sprigs of plants seem to be everywhere on the ship, no doubt curtesy of Kasumi. Joker and Miranda got caught under one and after a simple kiss, both looked away with bashful eyes. Zaeed had managed to catch Samara and after him blustering for about a minute she had kissed his cheek. He stood there bright red while she continued with her day. Kasumi has yet to get Jacob under one. Shepard got caught. With Jack. And when the two realized, they stared at each other for a mere second before colliding together in a comically exaggerated kiss. They broke away laughing, Jack’s lipstick smeared over both of their mouths. After that, Garrus decided mistletoe wasn’t fun anymore.

I love reading it, I love writing it, I love talking about it! So, I thought I'd put a few fics here that never leave my brain so they might infect others <3.

my lead to blow by amidsizedfrog A 9x07 coda where we follow Dean's journey as he makes his first friend and joins the wrestling team. This fic is deliciously bittersweet. It rides the line of joy and fear that comes from being young, having a connection with someone, but being unsure if they're a friend... or something more.

well everybody's got a secret, sonny by luminoussbeings Short and sweet, a s1 ficlet in which Dean and Sam have an argument where they each think the other is being homophobic, only to realize they're both queer.

not with a bang but with a yelp by strange_estrangement What if the brothers used Yelp? More of a multi-media project, this is a look at some of the motels throughout the series showcased by the brothers (along with a few guests) leaving yelp reviews. It's imaginative and out-of-the-box, and features some fun tfw teasing!

ad astra per aspera by jeremycarver THEE Stanford Era Dean one-shot. This fic scooped out my insides, painfully and lovingly. It's understated, atmospheric, and just brimming with heart. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to get swallowed up the the vast, aching loneliness of the US Midwest, this is it.

Until the Breaking of the Day by Dira Sudis (dsudis) A destiel fic from the classical era (2009). Intimate, electric, and theological, this fic finds Dean and Cas postulating the age-old question: If you're resurrected from the dead... do you stay circumcised?

John Dies at the End by Kalliel An exploration of an alternate season 2 timeline. This fic is psychological, intense, and heartbreaking. Here's my favorite three lines, which make up the entirety of chapter 6: "Here's a secret: Sam knows Dean's always been a little afraid of him. Sam, after all, had the power to leave him.

Dean's not even a ghost, and his absence still feels vengeful."

It IS very fun. In lieu of writing a coherent post I just spent quite a bit of time scrolling through 3 years of discord messages for good tidbits:

Gill spent part of my day wondering “you know you’d expect Lovelace to have some Loud And Pointed Opinions about Minkowski being offered the post of Communications Director but maybe instead she’d be the first to figure out there’s no better way to dismantle the company than from the inside out” Kat If you want a job done wrong you gotta do it yourself Gill Minkowski: They… want me to be the next director… and I think I’m going to take the job. Lovelace: …actually. That sounds like an amazing idea. Minkowski: Minkowski: who are you and what have you done with Captain Lovelace Kat Careful Renee. That joke has a bit of an edge to it Gill Nobody’s getting out of post-flight quarantine without an identity crisis of some kind it seems Kate I bet Lovelace would jump at the chance to have a woman on the inside… who has a lot of practice ruining Goddard's plans. Gill Lovelace, probably: You’re gonna need your own version of Cutter’s hypercompetent Right Hand Minion, and it seems to me that the person who kept him distracted while you put a harpoon through his torso would be the ideal candidate. Lovelace: Also, it’d be fun to deface Kepler’s old office.

Kat was thinking about Minkowski marriage drama in the context of her voluntarily signing on to be comms director under the same contract as the last one fully aware this means everyone will try to kill her just in case she can keep everyone else safe and then having to explain that to her husband tfw your wife never prioritizes you bc she's too busy prioritizing a) dying in space b) dying on land now Gill Dominik Koudelka, maybe: it just feels like I have to get myself kidnapped by shadowy corporate goons if I want to spend time with you!

Kate Communications Director Minkowski 1) definitely publishes her own adapted fifth edition of the Survival Manual that’s not a joke and full of useful things and 2) mostly inspired by things Eiffel did that his justification was “well no one ever TOLD me this would happen in space!” Gill “Leprechauns are not real. Ghosts, however, are.” “In the unlikely but theoretically possible event that leprechauns are discovered at some point in the near future, disregard previous. It’s important to keep an open mind.” Kate Adaptability! Flexibility! Priorities! Acknowledgement that space is full of unpredictable and incomprehensible bullshit! Kat thought: re Goddard possibly having prison labor going on, maybe when they got Eiffel out of jail they just transferred his sentence to them, and Comms Director Minkowski finds out she technically owns two of her crewmates now and isn't super happy about it Eiffel: so for the next 23 years my ass is yours I guess Minkowski: I don't want it Minkowski, sifting through paperwork: why… why do I own prison laborers now? Can I pardon them? What is this news anchor voice: Goddard Futuristics stocks dipped today as new director Renee Minkowski gave the entirety of their asteroid mining staff early release, quoted as saying "Go home. The fuck." Gill Comms Director Minkowski like ok first off we’re actually giving our workers benefits Kat we'll reroute some of the money headed toward all the R&D for evil shit Gill we’re also defunding our paramilitary branches. Why do we even have those?? Kat Jacobi, raising hand: To do stuff like break into Elon Musk's Mars colony and take him out with extreme prejudice Lovelace: ok that one sounds justified actually Gill Lovelace: Can I go fuck up Elon Musk’s stupid libertarian summer camp? Minkowski: Later, I need you here right now. Lovelace: Aw, ok. ): Kate Okay project Fuck Up Elon Musk can stay

Kat underappreciated aspect of the comms director Minkowski concept: DC girl Minkowski finds out she now owns like 75% of the politicians on Capitol Hill. Is not sure how to stop owning them It's like feeding wild animals, they keep coming back for your money even when you try to cut off the lobbying Gill Minkowski: next time a senator shows up at my house I’m siccing Lovelace on them Kat Minkowski: Cutter had an entire budget line for funding ballot initiatives and…. wow, that's a lot. Hey Doug, what are your thoughts on felons being able to vote? Eiffel: Felons can't vote? Minkowski: …. yes?? Eiffel: Oh. Huh. I don't ever vote so I didn't notice. And I see from your expression that you don't approve of this.

Gill You are an astronautical engineer at Goddard Futuristics’ special projects division. You were handpicked by the special projects manager herself to work on this new prototype. The craft you and your colleagues poured untold hours of work into is commandeered by Warren Kepler, Legendary Local Douchebag, and two of his minions (an entire ship! For three people!!) to go off and babysit one of your boss’s boss’s ultra-secret pet projects, which you quietly believe is actually an elaborate fraud scheme of some kind. You rage at this. Then, you mourn. Perhaps you drink heavily. Either way, you move on, setting aside your quiet hope that the Urania one day re-enters terrestrial skies, but gradually making peace with the idea you may never see this particular fruit of your labor again. And then a year and a half later you get it back and the interior is just plastered in printer paper that looks like a brigade of toddlers just went nuts on it with their crayons. And also your boss is dead and the apparent leader of said toddlers is the new communications director. Kat Hey at least the astronautical engineering division can feel vindicated that that shuttle a few years back didn't malfunction Gill Engineer: So that shuttle didn’t malfunction and Cutter was actively orchestrating a fake explosion and cover-up. Then he sent Warren “Oh just let me fire off this prototype in a civilian area” Kepler and his goon squad up in our prototype to go fuck around with you guys some more. Minkowski: Yup. Engineer: And you killed him. Minkowski: …yes. Engineer: …did you kill him painfully? Tell me it was painfully. (Minkowski is mildly worried about how she acquires some of her new supporters) Kat Lots of long simmering resentment Kate I imagine she gets a lot of goodwill points for taking out Cutter and Kepler… imagine

Kat comms director Minkowski having to do tax fraud to protect her team somehow Gill Jacobi, having just another day in the office, doing taxes: god this is so dull, I hate tax season. I wonder if Minkowski’s gone and holed up in the accounting department, she probably lives for this kind of thing. /smash cut to Minkowski threatening an IRS agent at harpoon-point Kat Minkowski making Hera her own LLC so she has rights now: This is legal according to Citizens United as long as no one looks at it too closely (my dad became an LLC today so he can contract with his work after he retires. I joked he will be the last person able to vote in the household once they take everyone else's rights away but corporations are people) Gill “Minkowski Commits Tax Fraud” would be an amazing chapter title for a fic at some point though Kat Minkowski early in the mission diligently doing her taxes in space because she's a good American citizen Minkowski like 5 years later: fuck capitalism Gill That one meme image but it’s, Minkowski: You mean the game was rigged all along? Minkowski @ herself: always has been. Kate This is my strongest Minkowski belief Gill Minkowski: wow, capitalism sucks, and growing up in a Soviet satellite state was also awful. Lovelace, beholding her funko pop: I mean, I don’t think my eyes are that terrifying even when I’m possessed by unknown cosmic entities, but other than that, it’s a perfect likeness. Lovelace: Look, she even has her arms folded because she’s mad at the other little plastic crewmates for being idiots. I love her.

Not sure how soon thanks to life shenanigans lol I did make some sketches in the meantime that hints at some things for this au.

Context for those that don't know: This is an au where Talbott is much more friendly and social on the outside, but is very deep in the anger stage of grief on the inside. None of his friends are aware as he doesn't want to worry them. His rage and grief are his and his alone. That is, until Reina finds out thanks to her ability to see and feel one's true emotions.

TFW you meet your crush only to find out he has some serious EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE

The manifestation behind Talbott is his Effigy, which in this setting is the projection of his Soul. Keeping all his rage and grief within caused his Effigy to take on that unsettling form.

Effigies of those who have been wronged are known to glare at anyone responsible, giving them the unsettling sensation that they're being watched. It's a little hard to tell but Talbott's isn't glaring at Reina, but rather starting off elsewhere. I've been playing with the idea that in addition to sensing one's emotions, Reina can also see them.

Poor Reina ends up being way too scared to go near Talbott for a while, and feels bad because she knows it's not his fault. He's a genuinely good kid that's angry and hurt. He just ends up thinking she's way more shy than she lets on.

How Sonic 3 Can Fix Shadow the Hedgehog | The Nerd Stash

They brought him back for Heroes and Battle, which released almost simultaneously.

Not sure if I'd call the United Federations the US government, but that's neither here nor there.

Well, at least they've got the basic details right. tfw the bar is so low you're like "kudos" when they relay game information accurately

I feel like I'm missing something because I'm not sure what "Chaos Energy" engine is referring to. The Biolizard got hooked to some kind of life support machine, yes, but does it actually have a name?

Also, if Battle is to be believed, Gerald was researching the Emeralds sometime before Project Shadow, or perhaps in its early stages. The Emerald research was kind of an overarching thread tying all of his research together. It's the only commonality linking Shadow, Black Doom, Emerl, the Biolizard, and the Eclipse Cannon.

Gerald says the colony was shut down under the premise that there had been an accident, implicating an element of subterfuge to the GUN raid.

A line from Doom's Eye in ShTH furthermore suggests foul play with the presence of a traitor aboard the ARK. However, the author of this article tends to discount ShTH on the basis that its Shadow portrayal is bad, so. :L

Cart before horse. The above passage implies Gerald somehow built the Eclipse Cannon before being imprisoned, when in actuality Shadow tells Eggman the opposite. The Cannon was secretly constructed aboard the ARK as one of multiple "weapons of mass destruction" being developed there.

"Darkness and anger are not all the things that make Shadow the character he is." - Coulda fooled me, the way fandom's been treating him lately.

Aaaaand here comes the Sega-bashing.

Also, with no disrespect intended, I somewhat press X to doubt that Pat Casey fully understands Shadow's character in SA2 if he's saying Shadow "will not be moved by words of friendship or compassion," considering it's famously Amy's words which remind him of his real promise to Maria (and I know people still cry bullshit at that, but nevertheless, it is the critical factor in his heel-face turn), and Rouge's words which nudged him along that path to a lesser extent.

I... am not entirely sure I would frame Shadow's actions in SA2 as "selfish" so much as deeply misguided.

Eggman's actions are selfish, yes, in that he's using Shadow and the Cannon to "dominate the world and build a legacy of [his] own," but I'm not sure how trying to fulfill what you believe to be your dead friend's wish is inherently selfish?

Also, mandatory nitpick but the Eclipse Cannon was neutralized when Knuckles called on the Master Emerald to stop the Chaos Emeralds. Shadow "sacrificed" himself to stop the Finalhazard, which Chaos Controlled out to the Cannon's barrel and fused with it with the intent to crash the colony into Earth.

(rolls eyes) You haven't explained how Shadow's previous traits were retconned or forgotten. You just recapped the end of SA2 and said Sega's pushing for muh Vegetable Shadow.

Yeah, your bias is showing. Because you think Shadow's quintessential character is confined to SA2 and other games don't count. You haven't said a lick about Heroes or Battle, let alone ShTH, '06, Rivals, or Forces.

Never mind how nonsensical it is to pine for Shadow to return to his SA2 characterization considering that Shadow is all about moving on, not being fixed in the past. And his SA2 self, as you've clearly outlined, was essentially brainwashed. He was never supposed to be that kind of person to begin with.

This is Sonic demanding Eggman go back to being brain-damaged Mr. Tinker levels of "but why aren't you the way I want you to be, though :c"

You'd rather he go back to the way he was when he was at his most vulnerable, and it's all just smoke and mirrors, dude.

No wonder people have been indulging this weird desire to inflict all manner of trauma on Shadow via his backstory lately; it's the only way they can get their hyper-idealized version of SA2!Shadow back.

God forbid he actually does stuff to move his own life forward like a character with agency, instead of being stuck in a phase of his life where terrible things are being done to him, like a passive trauma receptacle.

"Make Shadow great again," that's a new one. Fuck off with your Japanese shit about moving on with your life, SoJ, here in 'murica we repeat our characters' backstories until they become meaningless

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t even know if I’m going to have something for Bleach Week at this point lmao

The only two things I’ve been writing are the only things I’ve been able to write for months and I don’t feel like doing anything else because most of my energy is in Absorbing shows and books and trying to work a wacom whilst also trying to regain my shred of ability to draw people from highschool (which is lmao at least I’m having fun).

One of the things I’ve been writing is not for this fandom.

The other IS for this fandom and is very OC heavy so far and is me finally taking some idea I’ve ruminated on for ....fuck, years at this point, and made into one project. One of the only canon characters in this so far is Hisana but she was always going to be apart of it.

Its called the five dogs for now but basically the synopsis is ‘tfw your life long ambition to fuck over the five clans takes so long and goes so wrong that by the time you get anywhere there’s only four left’.

Its got the Rukongai. The Seireitei’s version of the Yoshiwara. A lot of struggling women who are mostly failing at everything they try to do but I love them so much, I fucking LOVE THEM. Hisana is one of them but she like...fails on her own terms and with some grace.

Somehow the ‘main’ protrag does manage to infuse a lot of hope into her scenes but she’s also such a fucking mess like she will cry at anything. She just feels so much. Too much. If someone pet her hair and told her it was going to be okay she would abandon her beliefs for them.

Of course it would not be me if I didn’t have at least one character who is just extremely angry and violent and has a trash relationship with Tokinada. She is very fun to write but also frustrating because figuring out how to get what I want from her scenes is HARD because she’s DIFFICULT.

I feel like an insane person writing it but..........there is so much joy to be contained in six women absolutely fucking up their lives (and also reclaiming their lives in very few cases. Congrats on being one of the few, the proud, the not alive to spiral, Hisana!)

Anyway.....that’s why I may just be reblogging in support this time. Because the OCs have me by the throat.
