Koby isn’t really going to lose that hero-worship ‘she’s an angel in human form’ mindset until later, so right now it’s mostly Luffy bragging about how strong she is, Koby getting nervous because she’s incredibly weak and oh no what if Luffy is disappointed? and instead of being annoyed that she’s weak, Luffy just… immediately vows to protect her from Everything and Everyone until she’s strong enough to do it herself.

You were too excited to even let him ask you, too excited for your fantasies to become a reality. You have been wondering when he would pop the question. After all, you’ve been together for years. Gone through every hardship you two could face. There was no doubt that you two had an inseparable bond. It was only a matter of time before the wedding bells were ringing. Simon stared up at you wide-eyed, his gloved fingers holding the untied shoelaces he was about to re-tie before your little excited outburst. “Sorry love, m’ just tying my shoe.” He chortled, noticing the horrified expression quickly sprouting on your face. Your red cheeks and parted mouth was adorable to him, he couldn’t help but laugh a little more once he tied his shoe and stood up properly. 

Good thing it was so late at night and no one else was around in the park, otherwise you would’ve gone into a permanent hibernation. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid! God, what was I expecting? He’s not like the guys in the romcoms, he’s Ghost! He’s Simon for Christ’s sake! You were mentally face palming yourself at your eagerness to say yes to a question he never even intended on asking you in the first place. You were so lost in your own internal conflicts, you didn’t even notice Simon had gotten up close and personal, encircling his arms around your waist.

“Don’t beat yourself up. It’ll happen soon. I promise.” He pressed his lips to your forehead, a gentle reminder that he wasn’t judging you at all. You cooled down a bit from his reassurance, the corners of your lips turning upwards into a bright smile. Even if it wasn’t happening right now, you knew it would happen eventually. You two were meant to be after all.

Next time you’ll make sure he actually has a small box in his hand before you start jumping to conclusions though.

I absolutely think he has a saddle that is custom-made for his meat-cheeks, with extra support so they don’t clap in the wind; it’d also be lined with steel under the leather so that his fine ass doesn’t bust straight through. It’d be a near thing, though.

He’s DEFINITELY got custom-made breeches for his juicy rump steak - it costs the King thousands in gold every time he orders a new pair, because they need so much fabric for dat BUTT. Reckon they’re also reinforced so them cheeks can wobble without judgement.

20. A weird headcanon. Maybe not weird, but spooky…Mey Rin loves telling ghost stories with the Bard and Finny on long winter nights, even though she often ends up scaring herself in the process. 😂👻

21. When do you think they were at their happiest? Those times at the manor when there are no attacks or other catastrophes to worry about, and she was free to enjoy picnics, fun outings in the city, and other bonding moments with the rest of the Phantomhive household.

22. When do you think they were at their lowest? Working as the Qing Bang’s assassin. Mey was surviving, but she wasn’t living.

23. Future headcanon. Partially as a consequence of working with her during their undercover mission, Mey Rin eventually becomes good friends with Ran Mao. At one point, the other woman gifts Mey a panda plushie identical to her own, which the maid treasures.

24. What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone? The exact number of people she’s killed over the course of her work. That death count comes with the territory, but Mey Rin doesn’t like to dwell on it.

25. When do you think they acted the most ooc. Her character’s been pretty consistent (at least in the manga), though I wish Yana had let her show her true colors earlier on in the story.

26. When do you think they were being "themselves" the most? After becoming a maid, because she could finally express her identity as Mey Rin, rather than being callously treated as Rin, valued only for her keen eyes and deadly aim rather than her personhood.

27. If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for them to meet? I’d love to see an AU where she could interact with Jeanne from Vanitas no Carte because they have a lot in common—wonderfully endearing ladies who also have an intense side, past trauma, a well-deserved reputation for being frighteningly talented at putting enemies six feet under, in service to a young master who offered them a brighter future, etc. I just think they should eat macarons together and be besties. :’)

28. The most unnecessary thing they ever did? Nothing really comes to mind? 🤔 Anything my girl does is significant to me! 💖

29. How do you think they would be as a parent? (and if they are a parent, how do you think they would be if they weren't?) An amazing mom. Since she’s prone to anxiety, Mey could definitely benefit from a partner to lend a hand (raising kids is stressful work), but her fierce protectiveness and warm, affectionate demeanor would carry the day more often than not. She’d be patient and gentle, and give the best hugs!

30. The funniest scene they had? Her stunned reaction to Finny’s spine-breaking tackle! 😂

Maybe hc's or anything on musa and Aisha's friendship? I'm sad that later seasons drop that from what I've seen, they were such good besties :'( Also really weird how they're pushing tecna as musa's bff now and on the site they paired Aisha with flora?? Although there's some interesting dynamics there too, what with the cloud tower exchange and Aisha breaking into RF for flora. OH I have so many thoughts about that. Winx Club is like,, super weird in that obviously all the characters are besties but they still need A Best Friend? So Bloom's paired with Stella, Flora's alone, and Musa's paired with Tecna. Then Aisha comes in so naturally, they have to pair her with Flora since she's the only one alone. But then they like,, didn't stick with that? Instead of focusing on Aisha's relationship with Flora, they focused on Musa? And Musa's scenes didn't focus a lot on Tecna in s2? So now you have Musa and Aisha being besties? But that leaves Tecna and Flora who are even less besties at the time? It's such a weird situation.

Aisha also bonded a lot with Bloom at that time but since Bloom already had Stella, them being Thee Best Friends obviously wasn't possible. But that didn't happen with Musa because Musa and Tecna's relationship wasn't as built up as Solarflare's. So now Aisha is in limbo where she's besties with Musa and Flora and occasionally gets shipped with Tecna. In my humble and very correct opinion, Aisha just has all the besties because everyone loves her the end.

Headcanon Time Babey!!

obviously, aisha and musa bonded quite a bit over music (literally canon)! i like to think that kept going even after they became besties :) so they listen to music together, stay awake for comebacks together, go to concerts and clubs, and just share their common interests within the music and dancing realm

speaking of dancing, they still go out dancing! sometimes it's them alone and sometimes the others will join, but at least once a week they go out dancing together. during those really high stress missions when they're too tired and don't have the time to dance, it actually impacts their mental health a lot.

aisha got musa hooked on androsian style salads! they always taste so fresh and the flavors are so bright that they just make moods better. they're also packed with a lot of nutrition no matter what you put in them so they're a good before and after dance treat.

musa does not care for regular exercise at all and it's a pain to get her to even walk into a gym. now she's stuck in a group full of exercise and yoga buffs and aisha laughs at her pain constantly

musa wrote a song about aisha. no i will not elaborate

actually yes i will. so basically, it was all about their friendship and how she grew up feeling so alone, doubting that she would ever have a friendship like that. musa always looked at the relationships people around her had and eventually, she convinced herself that she would never experience something so good and wholesome. of course, musa feels the same way about all of the winx, but her relationship with aisha sparked something so special in her. musa never actually told aisha which song was about her, but she figured it out (and yes she cries listening to it).

musa was actually the first winx girl that aisha formally introduced to her parents! they already knew she was hanging out with them and it was pretty early in their friendship when aisha was called to andros and they "encouraged her to bring her new friends". they weren't being mean or snobby or anything... they just wanted to meet the group that directly got involved in a war and stopped said war! aisha was able to bring musa along (musa being very confused that she wasn't bringing fellow princess stella) and

they absolutely loved her!! musa was respectful and knew enough about how to act around royals that she didn't embarrass herself or say anything that would be considered rude. and honestly? how could they hate her when they saw firsthand how much aisha loved her? they hadn't seen aisha laugh so freely in years! they love that aisha was able to form such special bonds with the winx :')

dee and ro met each other in 6th grade with theater club

they became friends due to their inner drama geek

so those 4 formed a group

pat, ro, and dee actually bonded rather well, but since lo was never good at social interaction, he felt awkward

so one time in the middle of 6th grade, he just felt like it was all too much and he was just on the outskirts, he sat at a lunch table alone, where the three couldnt see him

re and v just notice this kid eatin lunch alone

like the gremlins they are, plop down and start making conversation

mostly remus, but virgil popped in sometimes

lo was startled, as one would be, but eventually warmed up to them, finding them actually pretty funny, and chaotic just like him

so he came out of his shell even more

eventually the other three find him, questioning as to why he didnt sit with them (more so concerned, not like jealous, because lo usually sits with them and they didnt want him to feel bad)

and lo just kinda mumbles he’ll tell them later

the three notice vee and re and are like ‘huh’

but then lunch bell rings and they gotta go to their respective classes

later lo explains his reasons, they explain that it wasnt the case and they were sorry for making him feel like that, while lo assures him that part of it was his own self’s fault, cause sometimes he overanalyzes stuff

but yeah v and re start slowly integrating themself into their group

and by the end of 6th grade

they were all a group

even though he get’s low-key annoyed when anyone else calls you their best friend because OBVIOUSLY he is your best friend

you’re his best friend in the world, and even though Saburo might never say it out loud, his school years might have been much more difficult, maybe even impossible, without you by his side

Gentle Anon here! I was making more of Babey II in the Game of Thrones world and I just had a funny thought like what if the whole Targaryen Family during ASOIAF (Rhaenyra, Babey, Daemon, Viserys I, Alicent, Etc) are shown the future and Babey II is there, showing how much of a warrior she is, the opposite of their Babey. They’d also see her three children and how they restarted the Targaryen line.

I also think that since it turns out that in Old Valyaria, that they gained their dragon bonding abilities through sacrifice, what if Babey II and Daenerys decide to do that for the Targaryen line (but maybe not innocent people but what if they were like people who done serious crimes like murderers or though who try to do treason)

This is cool! Prophetic dreams are common in the Targ family, I believe, so I could actually maybe see Babey or Helaena having one of those and seeing Babey II perhaps? That'd be real interesting.

I don't actually know much about the Old Valyrian methods of hatching dragons, though the idea of sacrifice being a part of that is interesting. I've sorta had this vague idea that the high mortality rate of Targ women in childbirth (and the babies also) might be related to this; like, is this the 'sacrifice' being made for the sake of possessing the ability to bond with dragons? Is this how dragons are hatched with such regularity by the Targaryens? I reckon this could have some mileage, lol. Not sure if the death has to be personally meaningful to the "sacrificer", so to speak, or if any old dudebro would do. And is there a time-frame on that sacrifice? Like, in theory, could Dany attempt to invoke the Masters she has killed in Slavers' Bay as sacrifices, or does there have to be specific intent involved? Hm, questionsss. I do like the idea of the pair restarting the Targaryen dragon line through this kind of questionable means - like, these people are probs gonna be executed anyway, might as well serve a purpose.

- let’s be real. taichi’s main reason behind wanting to form a band is because he saw a dude at school serenading a girl with a guitar. taichi is a simple man. a simp, if you will

- matsukawa is *ecstatic* at the idea. he’s all over this taichi, helping him pick out potential instruments, talking to him about rythmn and beat, and maybe even helping him songwrite

- taichi ropes in sakuya, masumi, muku, misumi, kazunari, azami, homare, and guy for the band

- muku and sakuya joined because they’re too nice to say no to taichi and matsukawa, especially with how excited they look!!!

- homare wants to wax lyrical about whatever the fuck, misumi just wants to play the triangle, and guy got dragged in via citron

- however, tensions rise as not all bandmates can agree on what music to preform

- masumi wants a more classic rock n’ roll sort of deal, particularly love ballads about the director exclusively

- citron wants to play traditional Japanese music!!! he wants to use his taiko drum :)

- homare requires only *classical, romantic* music for his poetry. Homare finds art in everything, but he only wants orchestral babey!!!!

- BATTLE OF THE BANDS BABEYYYYYYYYYYYYY

- it’s a competition for the ages: the main mankai band split into factions, battling for the genre choice

- the teams are as follows: azami, taichi, and masumi for rock n roll/hip hop combo, homare and misumi for classical, citron and guy for traditional, and sakuya, muku, and kazu doing a pop/party music vibe

- matsukawa, Izumi, and Akito Taninaga, the summer troupe ensemble guy who the manager recruited at a music store act as judges

- should they be using this time to prepare for upcoming rehearsals and shows? Yes, but Izumi handwaves it away as group bonding time and potential acting experience if they ever put on a musical

- during this whole shebang itaru gets constant war flashbacks to middle school where his parents forced him to play clarinet in the school band. he’s never getting back all those hours he spent cleaning his fucking reeds. needless to say he spends the afternoon curled up with rhythm games

- tsumugi also played in his middleschool’s orchestra, but has much fonder memories of his time spent. like that one time tasuku came to visit him during rehearsal and somehow got his head stuck in a tuba

- this exact memory is why tasuku also won’t be showing up to the grand battle. tsumugi would not stop fucking bullying him about it

- the stage is set. the rest of mankai sans itaru and tasuku sit in the audience. the performers take center stage.

- misumi and homare’s is well. a misumi and homare performance. homare recites his poetry while misumi dings his triangle every so often. he gets too excited though, and starts dinging the thing at maximum velocity, so izumi calls the performers off before they could permanently damage mankai company’s collective eardrums

- citron and guy’s performance is surprisingly... really good??? like they got traditional costumes and everything... call citron whatever you want but goddamn when he goes all out for something he goes all out

- sakuya, muku, and kazu’s act is!! really nice!!!! whenever muku or sakuya got strange fright from singing, kazu would hype them back up again from behind his booth

- muku: “s-senri no michi mo saisho no ippo k-kara...”

- kazu, adding an obnoxious beat drop: “YEAAAAAAAAAA MUKKUNNNNNNNN!!!!”

- they’re a little off key at times, but they tried really hard, and that’s all that matters!!!!

- and then. it’s taichi, masumi, and azami. they all try to look appropriately badass, taichi slicking his hair back and azami in his best pair of doc martins, but the mood is kinda ruined when masumi has to ask kazunari if he could borrow his equipment

- “what. do you people think i own that shit?”

- “WHAT WERE YOU USING DURING REHEARSAL????”

- “he was also using my equipment then!”

- anyways. masumi gets his shit together, taichi slings the guitar he loaned from matsukawa on his back, and azami turns his mic on. and together they preform only the most hardcore song:

- the g-anthem of y-city

- (it’s was azami’s choice. that boy is a mtc stan first human second.)

- can azami rap? of course not. can taichi play acoustic guitar to a rap song? obviously no. can masumi look away from Izumi and focus on his sheet music? what do you think they are, professionals?

- azami calls himself azami-sama and banri doubles on the floor crying laughing

- overall, team badass rock is all over the place. it’s one adorably awful garage band.

- in a surprise turn of events, citron and guy are claimed the winners, since their act was technically the best. even still? no one really wants to do a traditional japanese band, and most of the volunteers learn that maybe they better off sticking to acting, so the mankai band ends before it could even start

- taichi, of course, is completely dejected, his serenading dreams crushed.

- matsukawa, tho, isn’t about to let him give up so easily, so instead of forming a whole mankai band, he just decides to teach taichi privately about serenading hot babes via guitar

- taichi has a lot to learn, but he’s picking it up fast, according to matsukawa!!! there’s plenty of lady friends in his future... maybe.

Episode 12 - The Little Mermaid

Let’s Talk About JSHK Anime #3

Warning: Manga spoilers for The Little Mermaid arc, The Clock Keeper arc, and chapter 64!!! (just a bit, skip point no. 5, 6, and 10 if you don’t want to get spoiled) Also … this ended up way longer than I intended.

Well that was one heck of a feels trip. It’s probably my new favorite episode, just because everyone is here being wholesome lmao.

This is mostly hananene meta I ain’t even gonna lie.

Before we begin, shout out to Black Canyon, our newest anime cutie pie. Just look at him, folks. Just chilling with his sunflower seed.

He has no idea the kind of life his owner leads.

I said before that the best part of episode 12 is how it made Daydream worse, so now I’m gonna ramble about it.

“Maybe different species can’t understand each other after all.”

“Maybe it would be better if I were an apparition too.”

This is my favorite part of the episode. And no, not in the sense that I want Nene to die just so that she and Hanako can be together. But because of how Lerche actually explored deeper what was said only once in the manga.

Well, both in the manga and anime Nene ended up accepting the mermaid’s blood because of her desire to be popular, but the anime decided to revisit what she said earlier in the episode.

Not only did that make her decision kinda less selfish, it’s also just … sad. Thinking that your friend, someone you really cared about, doesn’t trust you enough to tell you things about themselves, to the point where you’re willing to go to such lengths as turning into an apparition just to understand them.

And if you think about it, isn’t this part of her true wish? To have her feelings be reciprocated? Man I just realized that as I wrote this and I am mindblown.

She thought she finally got her wish with Hanako. I mean, he said it himself in the first ep (”You wanted someone, anyone, to return your feelings, right? And as far as you’re concerned, sharing a bond with someone is the same thing, right?”). So it must’ve hit her really hard when she thought he didn’t trust her. Especially with all the wrong ideas the fishes were feeding her mind.

Then we got this little flashback. At first I was like, “Girl, you really be thinking that he doesn’t care about you while recalling the moment he apologized to you and hugged you? Are you insane?”

But after some thinking of my own, it occurred to me. Maybe she was too used to having her feelings not reciprocated, she couldn’t believe it when someone finally did. Not to mention Hanako did kinda trick her with his fake confession a while back (heh, he’s not the only one with trust issues, eh?). And that just made the entire thing even sadder.

So when Nene said, “But I thought, if I were an apparition like you, I could get closer to you. Then, maybe I’d be able to understand you, Hanako-kun. Although I know I probably don’t mean anything to you.”

That was a harsh wake up call for Hanako.

(Btw even more full circle, Hanako brought up Nene’s wish to become human again in the first episode. Nice.)

So. We got one daikon girl who’s afraid of not having her feelings reciprocated, and one ghost boy who’s afraid that daikon girl wouldn’t be his friend anymore if she knew about his past.

While in actuality, said daikon girl already decided she wanted to and would be his friend no matter what, and ghost boy had grown to care about her more than he thought he would.

He heard what she said to Tsuchigomori. He knew all about regret, too.  I mean, honestly, I think if she had said no, he’d let her walk away right then and there, no questions asked. But she didn’t.

Nene’s wish finally came true here. And the best part? It wasn’t the work of magic or curses. Just Hanako finally shoving his fear aside, offering himself as he was, and letting her decide.

And she still chose to be with him.

Heh. Lemme just. Sob for a bit.

Is my hananene trash brain reading too much into this? Idk. Maybe.

So props to the production team for managing to add even more weight to this arc. Which, they had to, since it’s the season finale and all. But I love what they did!

Onto my commentaries!

1. The KouNene

Good shit. She was worried about him but he didn’t want her to worry so he just smiled it off? These two are precious. Thought they were gonna interact. Sadly not. Buuuut! (see point 12)

2. Hanako’s classroom visit

He. Is. So. Adorable. Someone please take his babey license away he’s too dangerous.

Hanako’s classroom visit is like my absolute favorite clingy Hanako moment, so I’m really happy I get to see it this season. Ugh. My kokoro. Hugging her from behind, that semi confession vibe … Smooth mf.

The Mokke brushing Nene’s hair!!! The radish hairdo tho lmao.

On a sidenote, as a history nerd I appreciate that they’re actually putting lessons in the background. And the teacher talked about Apollo 11 again??? While my boy was in the room? That ish both hurt and pleased me.

3. The Clock Keeper rumor drop

Heeeeeehhhhh? What’s thiiiiiissss?

4. This freaking thing

*flips table* Darn production team been knew I’m hananene trash how dare they do this to me.

And lookie here there’s Kodama chilling.

5. Fishies! (!!!manga spoiler for The Little Mermaid arc!!!)

Pufferfish didn’t die. Well, good for him. Also I can’t believe they just call the other fish ‘yeah yeah’ lmao what the freak. Has it always been like that in the manga?

6. AOI AND AKANE (!!!spoilers for chapter 64!!!)

I swear I did not intend this numbering coincidence.

*claps* Boi. Nene asking Aoi about cutting ties with someone she’s interested in? And then Akane just swooped in and say he’d rather cut his head off than cut ties with Aoi? What about getting impaled, huh, boy? Would that do?

The not-so-subtle call out to these two pairs’ parallel? BOI.

7. Nene and Yako

These two just chilling together having girl talk, and Yako let Nene pet her? That’s some adorable shit right there. Admit it Yako you like her.

Yako also be really hitting home with what she said. It was extra heavy coming from her, considering what happened to her and Misaki. Boiiiiii.

8. Tsuchigomori

Oh my God, his laughter. Just … oh my God.

Tsuchigomori in dad mode is always one of the highlights of the episode/chapter.

By the way, in this scene according to the sub, Nene asked Tsuchigomori who Tsukasa is. But she knew who he is already. Is it possible that the sub misinterpreted it? ‘Cause I think what she actually meant was, “What happened to him and Tsukasa-kun in the past?”

If someone who speaks Japanese could share their wisdom, please do!

9. The 5 pm bell and twilight

Look how pretty they are!!!

Lo and behold, another important hananene interaction while the 5 pm bell plays in the background. Also, twilight? Y’all giving me Kimi no Na wa flashbacks.

“Twilight, when it’s neither day or night. When the world blurs and one might encounter something not human.”

Huh … kinda fits the ‘boundary’ concept but it still hurt.

Anyway they still had Hanako tell her what she already knew. And I did say in my ‘Walking Blind’ post that it’d be redundant. But since the episode kinda emphasized Nene’s desire to understand Hanako, having him actually tell her himself, even though she already knew it, was a big deal. It’s not about what she knows, it’s about him opening up to her. So I’m super cool with it.

10. The Broadcasting Club (!!!spoilers for The Clock Keeper arc!!!)

I love how Natsuhiko and Sakura are actually decent people. When he told Mitsuba that he was free to choose to stay with them or not? That’s solid, man. Though, of course, Tsukasa might not be as kind.

Speaking of, I know it couldn’t be anything else, but I’m still not sure if Tsukasa’s drawing was confirmation for season 2. Don’t wanna get my hopes up. Imma just enjoy what I currently have.

Kinda curious, though. Because Clock Keeper wasn’t Tsukasa’s doing. Maybe he was the one who released Mirai? But tbh I’d prefer if it wasn’t so. Because having more cases of supernaturals going loco without it being one of Tsukasa’s games is interesting, and kinda underlines the need of The Seven Wonders to keep supernaturals in check.

12. The Adventures of Minamoto and the Summer Vegetables

You go, Kou! I’m rooting for you oh my God you’re so precious.

And look at that ikemen smile! Him supporting Kou is just top notch sweet y’all I can’t-

Ngl this was the biggest surprise of the episode. Teru finding out that summer vegetables = Nene? Broooooo. Interesting. I don’t think this little addition warrants any changes to their future interaction, so it should be safe. Clever replacement, too, those veggies.

It’s so sweet that Nene delivered those veggies to Kou! Just imagine the Minamoto family having veggies for dinner. Awww.

(Also, Nene wrote her name in hiragana instead of kanji. Is that a reference to how bad Kou is with kanji? Lol, so sweet)

13. The Coda!!!

Look at him. Just look at him. Look how lovesick he is y’all I can’t-

THEY’RE SO ADORABLE.

All in all, I love this episode. Sorry for how long this post is. I’m just dealing with so many feels right now. Gaaahhhhh.
