AN INSPIRED DECLARATION, BARDIC COLLEGE OF FOCHLUCAN.
I honestly thought my time as an artist had come to an end and all hope for further inspiration was gone. I come from months of fruitless research and abandoned music sheets, any spark of creativity flickering and dying by the time my fingers touched the strings. I was lost and couldn't find my way back home when suddenly, destiny came knocking at my door. Quite literally, I may add. I went to stay at my aunt's cottage outside of the city to see if some peace and quite would do my muse any good and I had the fortuitous chance of offering shelter to a group of weary travelers. They surely were a lively bunch and while I had fun entertaining guests after such a long time spent alone, Tymora's gentle hand came to save me under the guise of a young couple of most curious nature. A tiefling and a devil, by all means a nightmarish union if you were to give the rumors any credits and yet. They spent the night sitting quietly next to each other, letting the others take turns in keeping the conversation alive. I didn't mean to pry but I was mesmerized by the softness of their touches, the tenderness of their gaze. At some point during the night, the young man drifted off to sleep leaning against the girl's shoulder, she raised a hand to caress his scarred face with such unmistakable devotion it almost moved me to tears. It reminded me why I started composing in the first place: to wonder about the nature of simple things like love and companionship. If I ever see them again, I hope they'll know this song is for them.

semi-related, but - I would really like to see more (esp public-facing) urban disaster & evacuation planning that didn't begin with "step one: load all your essential supplies into the car that you definitely own"

Having some thoughts about season 5 jmart...the idea that their relationship and them coming together and the happiness they gained from that companionship wasn't something they earned from enduring the horrors for so long...I like to think there was no divine intervention, no we came together for a reason, no idea of deserving each other...they just found each other and it was nice...a small good thing that mattered...

I’m gonna start meepin’ here because I can! Sometimes I’ll pour life experiences into characters in case others will see and not feel so alone— I think what makes being in a bad situation feel worse was feeling totally alone in it. I’ve been writing story arcs that involve friendship and found family that help you find yourself again after escaping dangerous/abusive situations, helping you gain perspective (as in, no what you went through was not normal, yes you deserved better), and helping you heal and grow even if it’s just by giving you the space to.
Honest to goodness? The healing process is difficult, but I’m starting to feel like I can stand still and breathe again. I feel like I have woken up after numbing myself for so long. My heart is full, and it will not stop trusting, won’t stop loving. Things that had hurt me before have fallen away because there’s a path forward! It was always there, even if I couldn’t see it.

3 years after quitting my last teaching job i would say i harbor less bitterness about the kind of racist conversation i had with my boss right before i left than about the time the math specialist tried to convince me fluency in addition and subtraction facts had no bearing on a child’s readiness to learn and successfully execute multiplication
