Ok just to get this out of the way first: If DJSS is your caregiver, you are 100% getting a space themed bedroom/playroom, wardrobe, toys, etc. So if you’re a kiddo with a special interest in astronomy, congrats! This may just be your dream come true!

Though even if your special interests don’t fall within that area, he’d still be encouraging regardless. Would engage with you about said interests if they fell outside of his range of knowledge by asking you thoughtful questions that allow you to info dump to your heart's content!

Would even buy you books about your interest! Both adult non-fiction and for smaller kiddos just so he has all things covered depending on what headspace you’re in at any given time. He overall just wants to encourage your pursuit of knowledge!

If you don’t know much about what he specializes in and are interested, he’d absolutely love to teach you about the cosmos and everything it encompasses! Though, he might have a hard time at first altering his lectures so they’re digestible enough for you to understand regardless of headspace. But with time he gets better…!

Would absolutely take you stargazing often. The night sky provides him with so much comfort, and he wants to share that with you (because he cares about you, and also because I personally think it’d be a love language for him in a way). He’d teach you how to use a telescope, measure the sky with your hands, the constellations, all that fun stuff!

Speaking of his love languages, he may even compose his own lullaby for you and you alone to listen to! The ultimate gesture from him imo..

Affectionate in both actions and words! Loves sitting you on his lap and wrapping his big ol’ arms around you. His size provides security and comfort like a weighted blanket in my opinion…! Gives you head pats, back rubs, and bonks his spherical head against your forehead (no lips…) I feel like he’d also love to cradle you in his big arms if that’s something you’re comfortable with!

He uses so many space themed nicknames for you, and tries to remind you often that you’re so very special to him..that you’re practically the center of his universe 💙

He’d read to you before bed, his voice is practically on par with a documentary narrator so it’s probably a 50/50 chance you’d be out like a light in no-time. While he prefers to read to you before bed…there may be the rare occasion he’ll sing to you as well, but he’d also do it if you requested it of him.

When he’s busy with his music and can’t really focus too much on you at that moment, he’d still have you sit in his lap or even let you sit on like a beanbag near his desk so you at least have the comfort of knowing he’s nearby in case you get lonely easily!

The snacks he feeds you range from ✨effort-filled, healthy and nourishing✨ to oh my god there’s how much sugar in one serving?! He’d be a little protective of his Mr. Dodo ice pops but….if you give him The Puppy Eyes™, he may allow you to have one but just this once…! (this will happen more than once and he will relent nearly every single time)

He tries to be a pillar of stability and help ground you when you need it as much as you help pull him back down to earth when he’s feeling overwhelmed or depressed. You make life on this dull planet all the more special for him and any articulate words he could use to express this to you just wouldn’t cut it!

It's November 9th, 🌌 Carl Sagan Day! On this day in 1934, the brilliant Carl Edward Sagan was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. A trip with his parents to the 1939 New York World's Fair sparked Carl's lifelong interest in science. He was fascinated by scientific exhibits that turned a flashlight beam into a crackling sound and the sound of a tuning fork into a wave on an oscilloscope. He was also enthralled by an exhibit featuring the technology that would replace radio – television. The future held wonders!

Carl never lost his childhood passion for science. After he graduated from the University of Chicago with BA, BS, MS, and PhD degrees, he had a distinguished career as a professor at first Harvard and then Cornell. But that was just the foundation of his illustrious career.

He went on to become America's pre-eminent astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, and – the role he is most famous for – science communicator. It seemed at the time that his crowning achievement was the 1980 blockbuster PBS documentary series "Cosmos," which he wrote, produced, narrated, and starred in.

But Carl went on to do so much more. He wrote popular books such as "Pale Blue Dot," "The Demon-Haunted World," and "Contact" (which Hollywood turned into a movie starring Jodie Foster). He helped send the first physical Earth messages into outer space – the Pioneer Plaque and the Voyager Golder Record. He convinced NASA to turn Voyager's camera back toward Earth to take a picture of us from six billion kilometers away before the space probe left the solar system. This resulted in the famous "Pale Blue Dot" image.

I accepted a challenge to describe my story in the worst way possible, and came up with this:

It's about a reluctant disaster space found family running from people out to throw two Terran-human ten-year-olds with powers from an extinct human species at their collective galactic problem.

🌟⭐🌟SYNOPSIS🌟⭐🌟

One thousand children prophesied to save a galaxy embroiled in war are taken from Earth at the turn of the 21st century. The children are scattered throughout Alliance worlds to hide them from the terrifying, unseen antagonistic force that would destroy them, the keth.

This story follows the frightening and fantastical adventures of two of those children - Will and Terra - who are genetically altered to possess a strange power for a plan to end the war.

Yune Darrak - a lone spaceship pilot who ekes out a living as a salvager, bounty hunter, and treasure hunter, and Selka Kelnaris - a disillusioned, empathic, Ai Hiri bounty hunter - accidentally rescue them from a Regent secret lab while on a bounty hunt. They travel to a remote agrarian planet where Yune will hand the kids over to Selka once he gets her ship back from the planet's leader, so he can get his life back. A simple plan spirals into a deep, confusing mess involving a mysterious blue light known as the Source Field, a political coup, and more questions about the kids and Yune himself as all four are inadvertently caught up in the middle of a battle they never wanted to fight.

Todays I-am-very-high-and-have-recently-rejoined-tumblr-because-I’ve-realized-I-need-more-social-interaction-but-tumblr-is-all-I’ve-got-the-energy-for thought is

the most personal, soul exposing thing I think I could ever do, would be to let some one go through my ao3 bookmarks, even the private ones…. Like the amount of #asexual ♠️ 🐉🌌who kinda likes monsterfucking vibes but is also a depressed millennial who was into Harry Potter and anime and tumblr of yore. Yeesh, how cringe and vulnerable that would be.

Because I like to write when very high and used to write poetry as a moody teen. A good old internet rant into the void. This will get long and old school text formatting like the book House of Leaves is a thing I really love so weird punctuation and spacing ahead.

Also, also recently returned to tumblr… lured like a siren into this hell scape of super niche fandoms…. I blame @strange-aeons for making me nostalgic for this place.

On that note. I am actually editing this but mostly because my brain wanted to add things as I read this over for typos because cringe.

Nostalgia leads to reminiscing. I think it was @blackkatmagic who said in a note, that like some niche pairing of fandom like a ship no one asked for but one person dreamed of and a handful of other people liked, is like being in a little boat with them.

(And I had to go find that post so here it is)

And I really like that idea and I like writing stream of consciousness rants when high and also graphs, like data visualization, because I’m an engineer. So a nerd for Venn diagrams that are cool. Like can I make a web diagram bubble graph combo with bubble size for intensity of interest and lines to show how one community spawned an interest in another community? Maybe throw in a color scale for vibes? Like who are the landmarks I use to remember my internet past. Is this what mark zuckerburg is aiming to make for all of us? This is like just feeling the need to give a good old trying to describe a very specific mood rant that live journal used to be for.….

God I feel like I’m trying to write a phd thesis on my personality as described via citations of tumblr blogs and other early internet social media. Can I put footnotes in a tumblr post? No. Does my probably autistic ass want them so I can make a hyper detailed thing fully describes a hyper focus moment? Yes. Can I make a whole power point of just internet citations? Yes. Do I have the energy? No.

Is this stream of consciousness prose that I am writing while very high and curled in a blanket on my couch while having been overcome by emotion from a fanfic I was reading about a super random cross over of two media from my childhood? Then yes this is me. I am a garbage gremlin of a person who is shockingly successful in life despite my very fun depression and health issues who has way too many parasocial relationships in proportion to real world actual humans I see and interact with on a daily basis.

Is it not the human experience to try and communicate who we are to the world? The innate desire to be seen and known?

Or is that way to high brow for me just wanting to list a bunch of things I like so when I’m having a bad day I can come to this post and just be like…. Oh yeah I did like that one thing.

Like that one video by Drew/Danny/Kurtis that somehow always makes me laugh. Like that friend I had who I could also make laugh by playing the look at this graph vine? 📊. Yes like that. So this my reminder that hey stuff is good and joyful and cringe sometimes, so on the bad days go look at this stuff. I feel @danielhowell has thoughts on this.

That’s it. I should go to sleep. It’s midnight and I have work tomorrow and my cat is glaring at me because we are not snuggling yet.

hey!! thank you, i'm really having fun with it, hehe. and feel free to put your thoughts out there!!! i like when people offer ideas or thoughts on my aus!! that is very true, that probably does happen a lot. it's part of why their rivalry is intense (and then partially because of some history between ushijima and oikawa, i have yet to think that through yet though so... it's undetermined rn). it really brings out oikawa's competitive side.

ok! karasuno! my idea for them is something like... they do odd jobs, kind of? not sure if that's the right way to put it. just doing all kinds of jobs across the galaxy, as long as it's legal and they're getting paid.

(i'm... debating having the first years doing something else though, just because 14 seems like a lot of people for the kind of jobs they're doing. undecided!)

i do in fact kind of have a story idea centering around them as well! it would involve karasuno finding themselves out of their depth when they're sent to find something that space pirates are actively searching for as well. (<- they are not aware of this until. the guy who hired them had no idea either)

We can safely assume that Dorene Whitacare is Celci, or most precisely Celine.

(a late theory because i was 2 busy to post this sooner, i hope you enjoy and maybe even see my reasoning, let's go!)

⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD! READ AT OWN DISCRETION! Reader beware! Go watch In Space With Markiplier right now if u haven't already!!! It's really good ⚠️

I could only notice this when in the Let Go ending of ISWM 2 (the one that loops us back to the beginning of part 1) Dorene sits with us for a moment and she talks to us.

I never noticed this in ISWM 1, because of lighting or just because of not looking too closely but two striking characteristics of Celci's face: she's wearing blue eyeliner and her eyebrows are blue. Also her colour scheme is white and cyan, which we see throughout the whole show is basically the colour of anything that has to do with the Warp Crystal and The Void.

Enter Let Go, one of the two choices we're left with at the end of ISWM 2.

Ms. Whitacare offers us a mug and when we sit with her, we can finally closely see her face.

In the brief moment she remisces of Damien, almost calling him her brother, stumbling with her words then correcting her phrasing "Well, it's like my--", her face scrunches in grief and a sad smile, almost dismissing the thought as if silly, and continues ".. like an old friend used to say: Life is ours to choose."

And it's not just me throwing dices and hoping we get a good number, it's perfectly hidden in plain sight that there's a connection between Celci and Dorene.

Little notes in Noir Mark's locker, especially this one that reads "Dorine? Celci? Connection?" ↓

We see her name listed on the Colonists logs that reads "Dorene L. Whitacare" ↓

The captions when Mark refers to her as Miss Whitacre, immediately after she corrects him saying that she's not married anymore the first time we choose Wake Up Crew after we Put Out The Fire. ↓

Again the captions the third time we choose Wake Up Crew after we Put Out The Fire. This time Mark refers to her as Mrs. and she promptly and quite sharply corrects him saying "I told you I'm not married anymore". ↓

Now I think everyone has noticed the continuous back and forth on how to spell her names.

We see her first name spelled as Dorine and Dorene, her last name spelled Whitacre and Whitacare.

It's like she's not quite grounded like everyone else in the story, she shouldn't even be interacting directly with us since she's listed as a Colonist, meaning she should be in cryo-sleep with all the 100 thousand others in their own section of the ship.

But she's out and about, and while she mentions being asleep in a cryo-pod you should remember that everyone on the ship has been at one point.

This is surface level info, we know she's not a simple colonist, it's like she has written herself into the adventure, giving herself a role and nudging us toward the best choices to keep everyone alive.

When we deviate from the story, defying the Narrator's attempts to move us forwards to Part 2, we die and wake up again in the Void, she gives us a choice (which seems we can again defy, but can we really? No) and sends us on our way.

Only a few people are able to really have control over the Upside Down, first of all (Actor)Mark, then Wilford in is own unruly way, Dark and... Celine.

Backtracking to talking about how Ms. Whitacare's names are spelled, the only times we see her name go from Dorene to Dorine is in Mark's locker notes and when he calls her by her last name.

It's like Mark drew a big arrow pointing to Damien and Celine, an arrow starting from this kind old lady who loves to offer cookies. I mean, c'mon, even her name is a mix the siblings' names.

Also just because I can and i think it's funny, I'm gonna talk about Celci's name.

Her full name is Celcionna F. Kelvina. A temperature pun. There's really nothing to say except that i find it amusing and that's it's not really relevant to the lore, it's just a nod to the fact that she's head of Cryogenics. And uh, she gets nicknames, mainly from Mark: CC, Celci and well also Asshat, they both go back and forth with this. So lovely <3 lmao

Probable Conclusion:

She's Celine. Or what remains of her. How she got a body I don't know, maybe she got her own body back from the void, after all it was the only one left vacant after the mishaps of WKM.

Or:

We have many little details that make up an argument that in my opinion is quite strong. The only way you could convince me otherwise is that this isn't Celine, but Dark doing his own thing. Sending us though the loop again when we fail to stop Mark, nudging us towards the right directions, punishing us when we refuse to comply. Probably to get the Warp Crystal, which he does in the Good Ending.

Because the most prominent lighting in the show is cyan that could be a direct tie to Damien, though maybe that would be too obvious. But!! When Wil opens a warmhole for us, it's pink. So i mean, I guess it's possible, or just a coincidence.

I don't know, the pieces don't seem to add up quite as neatly as my first theory. I might as well assume that Somehow the twins were split again, but since we don't see that, and that the Dorene equals Dark theory is a bit too meta, I'll wait for what Mark has to say in his Explanation stream on Sunday.
