>.> Can you say more words about GO2
Oh, I can, but they're not very nice words.
While I had my issues with the first season, the second season is just so... bafflingly bad? Like, so strangely bad. Plotwise it feels like something written by a beginner. Like for some reason they've given a huge budget to some mediocre fanfic. There are just so many instances where they obviously had to get from point A to point B and just made up a quick shortcut without thinking too much about the implications or it, you know, making sense. Some of it is because of the honestly strange decision to let other writers take care of the flashbacks, with the worst contender the WWII flashback (zombies exist now? with no repercussions? so much gratuitous gore? Also the whole sequence with the gun would be so dramatic if, you know, demons actually died instead of being discorporated being nothing but a minor administrative setback). But it's also there in the main plot. Fire extinguishers work against demons for some reason? Aziraphale goes all the way to Scotland and back to learn basically nothing? The whole contrived romantic subplot with Nina and Maggie? The fucking Gabriel/Beelzebub thing? It's all either so heavy handed or just plain lazy. And I'm all for suspension of disbelief but if it's just one thing after another...
To me it feels like the basic plot of the whole second season could've over and done with in half an episode, and they just put in filler after filler to fluff it out into a full season where, in fact, barely anything happens.
And it's so odd! I know John Finnemore's work, he's good at intricate little plot connections! And Neil Gaiman can hardly be called an inexperienced writer either! It just feels like they were too lazy to actually bother writing a plot that works.
Meanwhile characterisation-wise, they've gone further on the path they'd already started in season one and wandered even farther away from what made the book characterisation interesting. In the book, Crowley is the nice one, who's generally polite and friendly and very fond of humans, while Aziraphale is, honestly, a bit of a dick and a recluse who prefers not interacting with humans and is 100% down to kill a child if it means he can keep his comfy lifestyle going. Aziraphale accidentally kills a dove and doesn't care about it. Crowley is the one that revives it. It's that kind of contradiction that makes it so fun, and to see that reversed into Aziraphale being a bleeding heart saving-the-poor-humans and Crowley acting all tough and sarcastic really erases a lot of what makes the pairing so charming.
But the thing that bothers me the most is how much they included the Big Conflict between Heaven and Hell. In the books, both Crowley and Aziraphale are low in the hierarchy. You only catch a glimpse of the big players and only at the end. Plus, they're lazy. It's a plot point that they both have human agents to take care of the work for them and that they don't get involved. They're not remotely interested by the overarching conflict or wanting either side to win. The whole point of the Agreement is that they take over a bit of each other's work for ease and convenience. And they're not particularly involved in humanity's welbeing either, and they definitely don't go around saving individual humans. They're disturbed by it, sure, but they don't think about interfering in any way. They only start taking an active role when their comfy lifestyle is threatened. And that's what I like about the whole thing. It's small, in a way. It's contained.
Meanwhile the TV series went full out with Hell and Heaven fighting against each other and Crowley and Aziraphale suddenly becoming major agents in that conflict, catching the interest of demons and angels all the way up. It feels very at odds with the central theme and message of the book.
I did enjoy watching it. About 50% for the little things that did work, and about 50% to point and laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.
And to spot the Pratchett references, of course. Those were nice.

guys i really hate to say it but Abe's kind of been the highlight of the last two episodes for me & feels most in character to his S1 counterpart when compared to the other main characters 😭
ALSO him & Joan had more genuine chemistry in the one hospital scene than JFK & Joan have had all season & as a member of the JoanFK nation i am frustrated

Don't get me wrong, I love me some "plain text" gay content as much as the next guy, but there's nothing like that deep, deep subtext pining that allows you to explore the 'what ifs' on your own.
Of course Destiel immediately comes to mind because the fucking longing was RIGHT there
But also Hannibal, gay as shit. Longing so deep that it felt palpable. House. Wilson and Dr. House were just insanely, toxically attached at the hip and just w a n t e d. Psych. Gay gay gay.

Shipping culture has rotted some of your brains. The people in the Good Omens tag vehemently saying that the leak utterly spoiled season 2- do you all think this show is a romcom. Is this show only about romance. Do you think media only exists as a vehicle for your ships. Do you think maybe this show could be about anything else at all. Like an actual story perhaps.

I hate to be that bitch, but there was no form of gratification in that Titans finale.
We know they’re endgame, we’ve seen M’ari, but they’re acting so shy shy about getting into a relationship. These people shagged. TWICE! Yet they wanna act like we forgot that. They’ve been mum and dad from day one and collecting to their litter along the way.
They’ve been skirting around the inevitable for so long that this doesn’t even feel natural. And I know it was rushed due to the fact that they show was cancelled.
The burn was so slow that it stopped and was only picked up to finish the plot point. It didn’t even seem to pick up after they both met their child.
And I know that the only reason I feel this way because of the best episode that they’ve ever dropped “Dick & Karol & Ted & Kory”. That episode was crack. co. caine. Everything about that episode was suburb and nothing else has even attempted to come close.
I have so much more to say but it’s so hard to put into words the somewhat anger I feel right now

can you share your first kiss vision
GLADLY!!! also this is more just a fun concept to think about than a genuine prediction. this got kinda fanficy ngl.
so i envision it mid s5 pretty well into whatever danger will is in and mike and el are completely broken up. in this scenario its more of a thing like max where hes still himself just in danger of being tranced or something like that rather than s2 when he was possessed. (tho i dont think his danger will be the same as max’s. i think he has a deeper connection to vecna that will lead to a completely different kinda danger than what max was in.) anyways, the gang is all together and will is always being monitored whenever hes not in immediate danger just in case, similar to max. like 24/7 even when they sleep.
usually jonathan has this role but something else requires his attention so mike volunteers to keep an eye on will one night. they share a bed bc this is my vision and i make the rules and of course im only giving them one bed. as theyre getting ready to sleep mike seems visibly anxious and will asks whats wrong and mike just tells him that hes scared for him. i imagine this is the night before some big plan to defeat everything and mikes scared it wont work.
ive had this vision in my head for a while of them both in a quiet bedroom at night sitting on a bed and mikes talking about how ever since he went missing hes had such a fear of losing will for good and mikes silently crying. mike tells him “i saw your body. did anybody ever tell you that? when they lifted the fake body out of the water at the query, i was there. we were all there.” will didnt know this. mike tells him that the party rarely talks about all the upside down stuff when theres no danger present but they all have ptsd and nightmares. he tells him that their nightmares are about demogorgans and demodogs or the mindflayer or being shot at but mikes… mikes nightmares are just reliving the moment they lifted wills body out of the water.
mike tells him how the day he thought he was dead was the worst day of his life and how when he got him back he never wanted to let him go but then when the mindflayer got him he was so terrified of losing him again and he just has this terribly feeling that this time hes gonna be taken from him for good.
theyre both crying and will hugs mike super tight. a REAL HUG WITH EMOTION AND TEARS!!!! mike tells him “i cant lose you” and will says “im not going anywhere”.
eventually mike pulls away from the hug a bit but is still holding him. he rests his forehead on wills and stays there. will brings his hands up to his face and wipes his tears with his thumbs and leaves his hands there. mikes looking at his lips and its obvious that hes thinking about kissing him but hes not doing it because hes scared of risking their friendship and losing will in a different way.
then i love the idea of will knowing that mike wants to kiss him and he just nods and whispers “do it” and then mike kisses him.
mike pulls away but still leaves his face really close to his and hes kinda mentally freaking out and we can tell but will just smiles so big cuz hes so fricken happy and that instantly calms mike down and he kisses him again.
isnt my imagination great. someone send this to the duffers.
if someone wants to write this into an actual fic go nuts but plz tag me in it and credit me in the notes on ao3.

This might just be my aversion to this in media, but I absolutely hate that the bees jumped straight into "I love you"
Writers have been using it as a crutch probably since written language was invented. Two characters get jammed together by the plot for a decent length of time so Of CoUrSe they're in love!!
Instead of showing us these characters are in love, or in the process of falling, they tell us. Which is bad, lazy writing
You can compare it to any number of well-written romances, but my go-to is Rick and Evie from The Mummy 1999 because (outside of the forced kiss) it is a perfect depiction of strangers to lovers
Physical attraction is reinforced through the acting and camera framing (most notably after Rick cleans up and when Evie gets new clothes), but the dynamic shift is where the real meat is
Originally a business transaction of "I saved your life so lead me to this impossible place" and thoughtless words getting on each other's nerves, these two casually save each other's lives, look after the other's well-being, teach each other their fields of expertise (adeptly using that knowledge in the sequel to show that time has passed), give gifts with adorable awkwardness, and argue like an old married couple
There are so many instances where you see them growing closer and closer together that you wouldn't be able to fit them all in a single gifset. And not a single I love you
But the bees? Sure, there's flirts and trauma bonding, but there's no real substance to any of it. There is not a single real conversation between them. They can't even list real qualities they like about the other when held at metaphorical gunpoint!
Which is why the "I love you" is so annoying. These two are still testing the waters about the other's feelings, there is no fucking way they should be jumping straight into established domesticity
I'm glad that it was made canon, but it is entirely unearned in terms of dynamic development

Persona romance routes are all pretty bad but damn they really hit rock bottom with p3p femc route like the misogyny is very blatant and it’s almost hilarious like look at the Shinjiro romance. When you do his social link he’s like very clearly respectful of Kotone as a leader and explicitly says stuff like "oh yeah you’re clearly the best fighter we have, I don’t really know much about fighting like you do, I hope I’m not dragging you down, you’re doing a good job as leader just remember to take care of yourself, everyone looks up to you I know you can rely on them" etc. like he has faith in her leading abilities. But then when you romance him he’s like got dialogue like "bwah bluh i gotta look after you because you’re a GIRL and you need to stick by me, a big strong MAN so you don’t get hurt" and "don’t wear that revealing outfit in front of other guys 👺" and it’s like. Does he respect her or not and also like it doesn’t make sense for him to look down on her for being a girl cuz he literally has never not been led by a girl leader during his time in sees and Mitsuru in particular really has her shit together when it comes to being responsible and a good fighter and she’s always known the most about Tartarus
It’s also like. Idk maybe its just me I’m not a girl so FUCK IF I KNOW but to me the appeal of romancing Shinji is the fact that he’s sweet and sensitive and gentle and has respect for you despite the fact that he acts all scary. That’s like, what made me like this character in the first place. But the writers seem to think what women want is for a BIG STRONG MAN to protect them because they are just DELICATE WOMEN who are inferior in every way it’s like. Shut upppp thanks

Can’t stop thinking about how at the beginning of ep12, Suyeon was able to clearly articulate why the company policy was sexist based on patriarchal social context, but we still had to watch the Hanbada team defend the company and its policy (which we find out later that Hanbada had a hand in creating!!) for an entire episode and win the case. It’s so frustrating to watch because that’s exactly what the writers were setting us up for with that opening scene
