¿What do you think about the kurogiri/shirakumo twist? In my opinion it would have worked out better if we were given the information through out the story, and show how it affected the other characters besides aizawa. One could expand his relationship with shigaraki and show that they care for eachother as if they were father and son.
Or even expand how it affected hizashi and nemuri, and being able to see if they've dealt with the trauma or just tried to fake it till they make it, without being able to heal thanks to prioritizing aizawa's
Also imagine this
Like imagine if the press conference didn't go like in canon, like someone was able to filter the information of aizawa's expulsions, and investigated what happened to his ex students that had them, even those he re-enrolled, and discovered that none of them were able to become profesional heroes thanks to their black marks on their permanent records
Some of them became vigilantes, other had their lives ruined and became villains, but the rest... they couldn't live with the shame... this last group was the mayority. This will give the rightful backlash at UA and aizawa for his terrible teaching and how he shouldn't have been given control over the future of the next generation of heroes thanks to his bias and unwillingness to deal with his trauma
Now, imagine kurogiri seeing this, completely stoic, but accidentally put too much strength on his grip on a glass and can't comprehend the anger he feels, the only thing he knows is that is directed at eraserhead.
Also... FOR FUCKS SAKE HORIKOSHI, YOU COULD HAVE MADE KUROGIRI NOT ONLY A SUPPORT PLAYER AND A GLORIFIED TAXI, YOU COULD HAVE MADE HIM A COMBATANT. I mean, portal creation is one of the most OP powers on the market.
• ¿being pined by bakubitch? Blast the fucker by creating a portal within your body and connecting the other end deep into the ocean. Or better yet, use this by making little portals with this location and cut your opponents into smitherens with high pressured.
• or one could cut its opponents by creating and then interrupting a portal.
• or drop highly heavy object above.
So many uses and horikoshi does nothing with it.
Or... you could have momo accidentally drop her staff near kurogiri, and by muscle memory he begins to get phisical against aizawa.
Shit i had a lot to say about kuro... this is what happens when you have a character that has a kickass power and design, and just turn them into a plot device.
This could have been a better way of telling the story. If we are really talking about REALLY REALLY REALLY screwing with the readers, in a good way, then such elements would've been the prefect recipe for disaster not only for UA high but then entire hero society would crumble away like a house of cards. Your whole theory makes for an excellent plot and it can only thicken from here on out. Aizawa along with the rotten hero wouldve gotten what they truly should have deserved. And Aizawa should also be exposed as an unprofessional teacher

Hey friends. It goes without saying these past weeks have been awful for us. Emotions are still running high and everything feels upside down because we had the audacity to care so deeply about two characters and the path we were told they were on, only to have the rug pulled out from under us. There are plenty of ways for us to keep fighting for Carol and Melissa and Caryl, and I think one important way is to just keep spreading content.
I haven’t been in the mood to blog lately and unless TWD/AMC decides to do the right thing whatever that may look like now, I’m not sure I’ll ever get back to what I had planned—episode reviews, deep dives, rewatching, etc. But I still have plenty of love for the characters that I want to share, so today, I'm going to take the opportunity to say what Carol means to me (I already talked about Daryl somewhat and I'll get to Caryl later). Please feel free to flood my inbox with your own personal experiences too!
When I first started watching the show, I’ll admit my subconscious told me this woman, bless her fragile heart, is going to die real quick and that’s totally fine because what story could I possibly miss out on? Her cards are already on the table. She’s a battered housewife who has to depend on others to keep her safe. I sympathize with her and I hate her abusive husband on her behalf, but ultimately there’s no hero in her to root for.
But then, whether it was always by design or not, Carol proved she’s full of surprises. Holding onto a grenade that saved the “real” heroes from certain death? Nevermind that she’s still showing a lack of confidence because, fuck. This woman has room to grow, and throughout the seasons she did just that in the most organic, beautiful, heartbreaking, and inspiring way I have *ever* seen on television, which is as much as testament to Melissa McBride’s phenomenal acting as it is to strong writing.
The way some underestimate Carol in the context of the story seems to mirror how some underestimate her value as a character in real life. But if I’ve learned anything from Carol, and I’ve learned a whole lot, it’s that being the underdog fosters the motivation to achieve what nobody expects you to. Others don’t determine your limits. You do. That is why she is so often referred to as the most transformed, right?
She didn’t want to be the “burden” everyone expected her to be, so she pushed herself to become braver and bolder than the characters who always wore their heroism on their sleeve (i.e. Rick). She developed the strength, wit, and determination to fight and if not for her, those other heroes would have died ten times over. She’s helped others come into their own, she’s helped them flourish and stay alive. She makes the necessary choices no other character will make, even if it means carrying the unbearable weight of those choices.
Daryl was right when he said if anyone deserves to be happy it’s her. I would add that her character deserves to be respected and honored, and that means from a writing standpoint too. Wherever she goes, wherever she lands, it better make sense for her journey.
I’d watch Carol until the end of time, even in the most mundane activities because I know Melissa is capable of enticing us with so very little effort. She is not expendable. Not to me. Not ever.
And so, let me shamelessly remind you once more to vote for Melissa because she deserves all the awards. Also, in case you missed my emails, her birthday is on Monday, May 23rd and we will be doing a Twitter blitz to wish her well. 9am ET. That’s am, not pm. Don’t miss it!

Imagine Luke and Leia ending up in the clone wars era but all of their force abilities are “what the actual fuck?” levels of bullshit, and neither of them ever realized that the things they could do with the force were considered extremely high level techniques.
that is one of my FAVORITE things to imagine yes. To me this is less about ‘Skywalker bullshit’ (though there is some of that) and more about the training they (didn’t) receive.
The high-Midi-chlorians-actual-descendents-of-the-force thing makes it easier to tap into the force, makes it more possible to do so without accidentally exhausting yourself. But, in universe, under the right circumstances and with the properly channeled belief anyone can do anything. That’s why Palpatine had to make the galaxy want an empire, why his first strategy was misdirection and his top priority was crushing hope. Chirrut was supposedly force-null and he walked through an army. Han navigated that astroid field because he had to. The force is everywhere.
In an amusing but possibly unintended turn of events, 6-12 weeks of training in a swamp with an elderly frog who only talks in riddles without ever being exposed to Jedi culture except as a myth is actually IDEAL if you’re looking to maximize a Jedi’s raw strength. Most Jedi training that we see in the prequels is explicitly designed to put the breaks on a force-users raw power (for honestly very valid reasons). Channeling all violence through a single weapon that will start screaming if you get too violent, training to use it defensively, is definitely the soft-ball alternative to just squashing people like meatballs.
Meditating, wearing beige, the code, shunning attachments, all that stuff is built around making sure force users never run above first or second gear even in stressful situations (again valid, when you run your jedi in the red sometimes they become murder monsters). The downside of this is that when they’re forced to maintain that placid pace for years at a time (i.e: prolonged war), they’re much more likely to burn out.
When Yoda told Luke do or do not, told him a luminous being was he, told him size matters not, the amazing thing isn’t that Luke believed him. That was karking objectively provable. Yoda lifted a spaceship, so now Luke knows he can too if he just thinks he can. So he does. Vader and Palpatine conquered a galaxy. Luke believes he can stop worlds, crush armies, conquer planets and so he can.
The incredible thing about Luke is what he doesn’t do despite being tapped into the Force utterly free of mental restraint. Luke’s op character trait is his compassion, not his strength.
I assume at some point Luke puts Leia through a similar 2 month meditation class where he convinces her that her only limitations are the ones she imposes on herself. She has a complete meltdown when she realizes that she actually could have boiled Tarkin alive with her mind and saved Alderann. This causes a volcano to go off, devastating the ecology of a small moon. On the flight home, both of them slightly charred, she tells Luke that she wanted to focus on politics and didn’t really want to be a Jedi anyway. Luke nods quickly, supporting her decision, and resolves to seek out some Jedi texts about how to teach people they can do anything but also...maybe...not...anything.
And thus the Jedi order is reborn.
- - -
In the time travel version of this, it means that Luke is assuming that all of the Jedi are restraining themselves like he is. And they are, but they also aren’t, because their breaks are subconscious, built in since childhood, and have a lot of failsafes so even if they turn darkside they still restrain themselves pretty good (a la Dooku).
Leia is, again, less interested with the Jedi-specific aspects of the war (especially now that she doesn’t have to feel guilty about being one of the only people who can pick up that mantle) and more interested in the diplomatic side. Again, Palpatine can only succeed if the galaxy at large accepts this, and from where she’s standing they’re fucking moving in that direction. If being a Jedi is tapping into the mystical energy field that binds all living things together to channel it through one specific person in one specific place, then politics is manipulating that same power for a diffuse impact on as many people as possible.
This status-quo lasts until a major clone wars battle where Luke’s like ‘wait- the entire other side is sub-sentient droids? No living beings, and no droids with complex personality matrices? And they’re currently, actively killing living, sentient humans? Well kriff, come on! This is a no-brainer!’
Luke takes a deep breath. The air- it doesn’t disappear or anything- but it- it stops moving. It’s hard to explain...but breathing has an odd...resistance. The hair on the back of every clone’s neck stands up. Several get vaguely sea sick. One pukes a little. Plo Koon stumbles back, head ringing and afraid.
Luke Skywalker stands up and clenches his fists. 10,000 droids crumple like flimsi in the hands of a child. The battlefield is eerily quiet for a moment, then that imperceptible hum (which no one noticed until it stopped) fades and the air returns to its normal density. A few of the shinies start whooping, then the whole battalion is cheering.
Luke massages his temples, smiling wryly at Master Koon. “I guess I can see how that would get exhausting if you were doing it everyday.”
Plo Koon just stares.

Did you ever watch Buffy? The first episode where Anya was introduced was titled "The Wish" and all I can think about is if Scott McCall had ever run into a pure Sidhe where they offered him a wish. Instead of, "I wish Buffy had never come to Sunnydale." It would be more, "I wish I was never bitten to become a werewolf." But just like all feaye tricks, the outcome is more, his Dad ended up with primary custody rather than his Mom and he was forced to leave BH. And then Stiles ended up more friends with Heather and others. And while Scott's life is worse, when he tracks down the others he finds all of theirs are greatly improved.
I think about it a lot and how Scott never really dealt with the consequences of any of his actions, everyone else did, and how an episode or mini-arc could have fixed a flaw in the show's design. I mean, we were already dealing with a lot of Celtic lore, why not someone from the Sidhe courts?
I have no idea why this took me so long to answer, so apologies for that. <3 I did watch buffy! I've seen all of it, and all of Angel as well. XD
I remember 'The Wish' episode, and whoooo boy it gave me chills. I loved how big the butterfly effect was, how something that seemed so small, something that Genuinely seemed to be the cause of a lot of problems in Sunnydale, ended up being so important to how things had progressed. Because, yeah, you would think Buffy not coming to Sunnydale would be a Good Thing, right? Sunnydale didn't have all of these insane issues before she arrived. It was quiet, and nothing big or scary ever happened. Her arrival matches perfectly with when everything started going absolutely nuts, so whatever selfish ideas Cordelia had, her thought that Buffy not coming to Sunnydale would be a good thing, makes sense. Except that, as she finds out, she's entirely wrong. Buffy's arrival was a lucky coincidence, or fate, whatever your taste leans toward. She showed up right as things started going nuts, and she kept it from going SO MUCH MORE NUTS.
Now, moving on to TW, it is a fascinating mix of being the Exact same situation, and the exact Opposite. I'll add a Read More, cus' holy god is this a lot of Rambling.
Because Scott wishing not to have been bitten...yeah, the bite Did improve things. But it improved things for him. He would absolutely regret making the wish, just like Cordelia did, because he would realize how many good things the bite had brought with it. BUT, conversely, he would have to realize how many good things the bite had brought for him, not for other people, and how their lives either wouldn't have been affect, or might've even Improved without him being bitten. Without the bite, Scott wouldn't have gotten on first line, period. His health issues made very clear in the five minutes he had them that any kind of stamina based sport was just out of the question for him. If he is unable to walk through the woods at a moderate pace without needing to grab his inhaler and stop against a tree, he just plain cannot play lacrosse for two or three hours of running at high speeds and working a bunch of muscles in his upper body. He likely wouldn't have gone out with Allison, because he would have no convenient way to get her attention. Furthermore, he wouldn't have the extra senses that both impressed her on the lacrosse field, and told him about her 'family dinner' the night of Lydia's party. (I've discussed this before, but... While it's true, Allison would have still brought him the dog; that dog would likely have attacked him, and his chances with her would have been shot in the foot when they both got in massive trouble and he likely had to go to the ER for stitches or something. Without Allison or first line, he wouldn't have started hanging out with the 'cool kids,' and quite frankly, wouldn't have had anyone to help him study for the classes he was struggling with. It's true that he also wouldn't have had werewolf things to worry about, or even a girlfriend to distract him from homework, so maybe that wouldn't have been such a huge issue, but still.
If we look at other people's lives and how They would have been affected by Scott not getting the bite...well, let's talk about that.
Stiles didn't get on first line because of Scott, or because of a werewolf bite. Or even because of the werewolf bullshittery occurring in town. He was put on first line because of his abilities, and even after being taken OFF first line for missing the game, he was put Right onto the field in the next game, chosen OVER other players who were perfectly viable options. Which means, he still would've ended up on first line. Allison wasn't interested in dating before she met Scott, and part of her draw to him was based on how 'different' he was. He knew things she didn't know how he could know, he had a weird ability to calm a furious, injured dog, and he had charisma that was ALSO gained from the bite, since being on first line made Scott Much more self-confident. If she didn't end up dating him, it's likely she wouldn't have dated at all. Which would mean no hiding from her parents, no strange conflicts of interest, AND, interestingly enough --depending on her involvement in the murders, etc that would still be occurring in town--no night in the school that would scare her bad enough to ask Kate for extra help and tip her headfirst into hunter training. AND, even if she DID still end up getting those lessons from Kate? There would be no bitterness to fuel her behavior at the end of season 1.
Allison was Traumatized after Kate showed her Derek on the grate. She was horrified, and didn't know what to do about it, and while we can ramble all we want about the morality of her not confronting her family (whom she's just discovered is willing to electrocute people) about it, the fact is that she pushed the thoughts aside to stop freaking out and went to that dance. Where she found out Scott was a werewolf, and was So fucking Betrayed that she was willing to help Kate catch him and Derek. No Scott, no betrayal, no willingness to help Kate recapture the miserable man who'd been chained up in a basement.
If we go back to that specific night, and try to unfold the events from there if Scott hadn't been bitten, things get a little complicated, but I'll take a few artistic liberties. Scott isn't bitten. Presumably, he just happens to get out of the woods in time, or he gets caught with Stiles by the sheriff, or doesn't go to the woods in the first place. These all change the possible outcomes of that night. If he hadn't gone in the first place, and Stiles went alone, would he have been bitten instead? Would Scott have been dragged into all of this anyway, but without the protection and boost of being a werewolf and cured of his asthma? If he weren't the one bitten, and he saw everything Stiles gained from it, would he still have such a hatred for the bite? Or would he want it, like Erica did, to cure him and make him powerful and cool? But, let's assume Stiles doesn't get bitten either. The second half of Laura's body still hasn't been found, and Stiles has no reason to fear running back into the preserve the next day, and no real punishment from his father as far as we can tell. So, does he go back to look again? If he did, he would run into Derek, because Derek would still be there after retrieving Laura's body himself. He would see Derek and still recognize him, and from there, things might spiral, still involving Stiles in the supernatural, and it's likely Stiles would try to involve Scott, and Again we get hit with "Would Scott want the bite, if he hadn't gotten forcibly bitten in the first place?" The answer is probably yes. He wanted to be cool, and popular, and on the lacrosse team. He wanted everything being a werewolf gave him. BUT if we're looking at this wish as similar to "The Wish," then no matter what, Scott won't be bitten. He'll be transported to a new world where it just never happened, and he'll be human, and forced to watch everyone around him be just plain different. Scott not being bitten would isolate him from Stiles, if Stiles got involved in the spn anyway. We SAW how Stiles cut off his other friends once the spn starting getting in the way. He and Harley? We have no clue how close they were. They were close enough for her to tease him about his crush on Lydia, for her to wander up comfortably to the locker and talk to them. And he cut her off as soon as the werewolf stuff hit. What if he cut Scott off? To protect him, if nothing else, like he did his own father. Once he realized the danger involved, I doubt he would be willing to put Scott in harm's way.
So, Scott would not only lose first line, lose his girlfriend, lose his popularity, lose his health and strength and heightened abilities, lose his 'importance' to the goings-on of Beacon Hills, but he would also lose Stiles, who seems to have been his only friend, unless he also had a relationship with Harley.
Okay, I've rambled enough about the what if's, so let's talk about the Reason why this wish would go so badly for Scott, in such a different way than it went for Cordelia. Cordelia, first off, wished that someone Else would not have/do something, rather than wishing for herself not to have done something. She watches how fucked up the world gets, and how much worse her life is without Buffy around to save the day. Scott wished for Himself not to have done something (even something passive, like 'get bitten') and would have to watch how fucked up his world gets, and how far behind he would fall. The other's lives might not necessarily get better, because Peter is still on the loose, and the hunters are still there, etc etc, but they would still Progress, while Scott would stay stagnant.
And WHY is that? Because Scott isn't important to the story. It DOESN'T start with him. That's the Whole Point of his character. He is supposed to be the 'everyman' who gets dragged into crazy shit and becomes integral to things that he wasn't ever meant to be a part of. The guy who wanders into becoming King or 'The Hero' that will save the world, even though he's just a small lad from a tiny town, whose highest prospects were "get on first line."
He was NEVER supposed to be Buffy, or if he was, it was done Very Badly.
But Beacon Hills WASN'T a quiet town before Scott was bitten; however much he might've said 'nothing ever happens in this town.' It was FULL of bullshittery and magic from the very beginning. There was the fire, and Paige, and the blinding of Deucalion, and the death of Alexander Argent, and the Nogitsune in the internment camp nearby. All of these things were around So much longer than Scott's bite, and they'd been affecting the world that whole time too. Because yes, in Buffy, the master was There before she was, but he was literally rendered inert by the situations he was in. And the things he'd done happened Centuries before, not six years. There is a difference. Sunnydale was Not Known for the insane number of weird deaths. Beacon Hills was. And aside from the Nogitsune, every single fucking thing that happened in Beacon Hills, was attuned to the Hale family in one way or another. Deucalion's blinding occurred during a meeting on Hale land, because Talia was known as a wise leader, etc, in the area and other wolves flocked to her. Deucalion biting Argent seems unrelated (if you even believe Deucalion did that, despite being a fucking pacifist before Gerard blinded him), but again, it occurs just a couple hours away from Beacon Hills, which is Hale Territory. The one who plays the Buffy role here? Who shows up at just the right time, and launches themself against an endless wave of evil, with slightly enhanced senses and a thorough need to do good and not back away from things that 'aren't they're problem'? The actual hero who is somehow tied to everything going on in ways even they don't understand? Was Derek. The guy who entirely unwittingly allowed Julia Baccari to survive, because he was trying to be merciful to his first love. Who entirely unwittingly was manipulated into giving up information that let a hunter kill his family. Who followed his sister back to town after six years of just trying to survive in New York, fell into a fucking tragedy, and decided to stop the bad guys anyway, even though he knew he didn't stand a fucking chance.
And as annoyed as some might get. The 'everyman' who stumbles onto the set and accidentally becomes integral to the saving of the world? The one whose ambitions are small and who expectations are smaller? Who is misunderstood, and has abilities that aren't recognized or appreciated, that doesn't really fit in, but tries their best anyway? The literal Angel to Derek's Buffy?
Is fucking Stiles. The son of the sheriff who just could not let it go when he discovered there was something funky going on. Who hung around on the edges, even though he wasn't really wanted, because he needed to help. Who ended up saving Derek's life over and over, and becoming so important as to be Derek's anchor? Who literally WENT DARKSIDE and HAD TO BE NEARLY KILLED, even though Derek didn't to kill him???
I know how it sounds, but JD SAID he took inspiration from Buffy. The issue is that his parallels are between DEREK AND STILES, and BUFFY AND ANGEL. Respectively.
Derek might act like the broody bad boy, but it is STILES' mentality that matches Angel's behavior, and it's Derek who matches Buffy.
I'm so fucking off track. Scott would be miserable if he ever managed to get a wish and used it to keep from having been bitten. And it would be sad. I would feel bad for him, had I watched something like that happen. Seeing him realize that most of the good things he had, he only got because of the bite. That Stiles would still be on first line, that Lydia and Jackson would still be the popular kids. That Allison wouldn't know he existed, or if she did would avoid him entirely. That Jackson would never have been turned into the kanima in the first place. That everyone else would move on and up in life, and he would still be standing at the bottom step. Because it wasn't his actual limitations that were holding him back, it was his refusal to accept them, to work with them, and to just plain stop Envying Everyone Around him, and start living his own fucking life instead of trying to steal other people's.
Scott wishes he were Cordelia, and I promise that would backfire too.

Hell School UA: The kids' costumes, can we talk about the kids' costumes? Like, even IF we ignore Hagakure's whole situation, just about every single one of the girls is wearing something with SO little coverage - look at Momo's! IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK WITH HER QUIRK DAMMIT, LOOK UP WHERE FAT DEPOSITS ON WOMEN ARE! Ururaka even SAYS her costume isn't what she asked for iirc, who MAKES these decisions and why weren't they consulting with the kids AND various other specialists? You want (tbc)
This got... very long so im gonna put it under a cut but yeah great points to follow:
PROTECTION, UTILITY, AND KEEPING _FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLDS FROM BEING SEXUALISED_ LONG BEFORE YOU WANT FUCKING MARKETABILITY! Aoyama gets a support item right from word go so he doesn't shoot his internal organs out through his laser, but Kaminari doesn't get a support item so he idk... doesn't give himself brain damage?! I know I've already said about Momo's costume, but... someone in UA's costume design section for FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLDS signed off on that. Had details of her quirk and everything (tbc)
No ruggedised ereaders built into a gauntlet, fucking TOME OF CHEMISTRY. If she was dropped in the USJ lake that book would've been USELESS. She isn't given like, high-calorie snacks in her utility belt to keep her going, she isn't given any protection WHATSOEVER that she could open parts of to Create, she isn't given open spots where a woman's body stores fat, she instead is given a leotard that barely covers her and places with virtually NO fat left uncovered 'for her quirk'! And like, (tbc)
teenagers have ENOUGH body image issues, and teenagers going into a highly public industry I can only IMAGINE, but seriously, if ANYONE in UA should be advised to be going on a high-calorie diet, it's Momo 'literally uses fat for her quirk, also apparently eats so little she was headhunted for modelling for her internship' Yaoyorozu. And she's just ONE example from UA of how the costumes are neither functional nor protective nor appropriate for fifteen-year-olds in the public eye! (tbc)
Like I said, just about all the girls are wearing something with too little coverage for either combat or cameras - if they want to dress like Midnight later, when they've got more experience with what the hero paparazzi and tabloids will do with that, more power to 'em, but these are FIRST-YEAR-STUDENTS - for that matter, did MIDNIGHT get a real choice in this? Or did she get FORCED into the role of '18+ hero' as a kid who WASN'T EVEN 18 YET and had to live with the costume section's bs (tbc)
ever since? The only one of the 1A girls who's decently covered is Ururaka, and they gave the girl who will be landing from heights all damn day HIGH HEELS! And have we seen those big boots and wrist things have ANY function? Compressed air or other thrusters so she can move while zero-geeing herself, shock absorbers for landing from heights, hell, full of anti-emetics? ANYTHING?! Or did the costume department's thoughts go '0g = vague astronaut theming, girl = pink + high heels, job done!'? tbc
Even when deployed to a frickin' WAR ZONE, virtually none of them get support items to either cover for weaknesses or build on strengths. Nothing to protect them if they take a hit, nothing to let them escape if they're in a situation their quirk isn't useful, nothing to boost their mobility if their quirk doesn't do that, or let them hit harder if their quirk isn't suitable, NOTHING. So you've got over-sexualised minors going into combat situations with inappropriate clothing and NO USEFUL GEAR
It just drives my little anxiety-driven plan-for-everything mind insane. I've had LEVEL ONE ROLEPLAYING CHARACTERS that were better prepared than UA and the HPSC seems to think their heroes and heroes-in-training need to be!
yeah there’s a reason i had Nemuri’s homeroom teacher say unequivocally why her costume was a bad idea in the age swap au. it certainly is protrayed as her own choice but that doesn’t mean anything when a *fifteen year old* is trying to market herself as an *18+ fantasy icon* what the heck...  my thoughts can mostly be summed up in this:
“If you are on a job and get stabbed, you weren't safe. If you put on the domanatrix stunt for a kid- say that one in the alleyway wasn’t going to stab you- they are not capable of giving consent nor should you be asking. And if I let you go into a dangerous field wearing precarious stilettoes and nothing else to keep your from dying of attacks or explosions or bullets or fire or exposure or whatever God-awful tan lines this thing would give you, I wouldn’t be sane!”
but its not just her costume, its... all of them. Momo’s is bad, and she mentioned that the design she submitted showed more skin- i’m confident the one she gave was more like her protoype one, where her sides and back weren’t as constricted with fabric, instead of just relying on that horrid cleavege dip. Ochako literally tells us she didn’t want her costume as tight as is it, but she never gets to go in to fix it! She eventually decides to get grappling hooks *after* izuku inspires her with bw, why didn’t the SF inspire her to get some sort of jet pack??? Why didn’t Kaminari at least have chargers to recover from going braindead faster in his costume?????
thats it the shields are the only ones allowed to design costumes, ever.

SO i just finished wonder egg priority and i think that with confidence i can say it has been one of my favorite animes like... ever ?? and not even from hyperfixation or obsession over it just... its so fucking real yet so simple in a way that i havent rlly seen shown in any other shows you feel ??
but first i wanna talk about how sexy the art and animation is real quick... HOMIE ITS SO GOOD LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT JUST... serotonin... the characters are all so unique and iconic and fun but not over the top in their designs yknow ??? they seem like regular every day girls but they stand out and theyre all sO CUTE !!!! also i love how the style is like this soft bubbly slice of life lookin stuff with bright happy colors and the most beautiful scenes you could find but they also have the SICKEST fight scenes complete with whimsical animal helpers and terrifying villains and crazy weapons unique to each character. and the animation. god DAMN shawty i am obsessed with everything in this show. i might make a post solely about the art later lol bc i wanna get into the other stuff.
so the themes in the show right ?? it starts just as this cute lil magical girl kinda deal but within the first episode we see that like.. oh damn... thats kinda heavy... tbh i was a little shocked and thought about stopping bc yknow bad mental health BUT i was so intrigued that i had to keep going and i am SO GLAD that i did. because this show just so beautifully discusses all these heavy topics in such an eloquent and artistically expressive way. and also like, , the juxtaposition of the charming childlike vibe with bright colors and 14 yr old girl protagonists against the dark themes of suicide and so much else,, i think is just perfect. bc a lot of heavy animes are more of the seinen genre and have some middle aged dude as a protag or make the entire color palette dim or offer little relief to the pain of these heavy themes right ?? but NO not wonder egg bitches B) because these problems arent just things that ppl face later in life or just problems that need to be talked about among adults or the edgy seinen watching squad,, these are REAL problems that face people of every age, gender etc and i think its awesome that wonder egg addresses that. some may cringe at the thought of their high schooler watching animes that discuss sexual harassment, suicide, abuse, self harm, eating disorders etc,, but in reality it is the most comforting thing i have ever come across and is basically jsut free anime therapy. because not only does wonder egg present these themes to the viewers as something real that happens to all kinds of people (making said people feel heard in a way that maybe they hadnt before), but it also makes sure to vanquish all of these forms of trauma. and the way the trauma is vanquished isnt always beautiful and it isnt always just magically gone with a poof. the struggles of overcoming or living with that sort of thing are shown in such a real and relatable way that addresses every hardship trauma survivors have to go through. and i just. god i cry bro.
oh m y GOD and the lgbtq+ rep in this show ?? like shawty... as soon as i saw episode one i was picking up on some gay/lesbian themes but then again im sapphic and project that a lot so i tend to see that sort of stuff like... everywhere... but NE WAYS... episode ten made me FUKCING CRY BRO LIke i cant believe there was a whole trans character with a whole trans pride hoodie like LKGHKDGH my heart is just so.. so fucking full thinking about him. bc like yeah i know there are trans characters in anime but i feel like theyre always very ambiguous about actually being trans or not or erased or portrayed as a harmful stereotype or theyre constantly misgendered and still refered to as their assigned gender at birth and i hate it. HOWEVEr... Kaoru.. *chefs kiss* it was so amazing to see a character straight up say “yeah im trans” in such a casual yet powerful way bc i personally have never seen that before. and i love love loved how he went into his backstory and talked to momoe about gender bc i think thats what she rlly needed and that it helped her find herself and it makes me so happy oh my god,, and the way they talked about it never seemed forced or like it was the focal point of his existence yknow ?? like yeah he existed to help momoe overcome some of her trauma but he also just existed to be HIM yknow ?? also... personally, i headcanon momoe as a trans girl even though i dont remember it being explicitly stated plus the school scenes of her and stuff would seem like they suggest otherwise ??but,,, SHAWTY THE AMOUNT OF SUBTEXT and her complicated relationship w gender is... something i feel like a cis girl would not go through so harshly yknow ?? with all of the questioning and feeling detached from femininity or feeling like ppl dont see her as an actual girl and only like her as a guy or for her masculine traits,,, but dont take my word on this bc i myself am a cis girl but that was just my take on it as someone in the lgbtq+ community trying to educate myself on the transgender community :) either way,, wonder eggs portrayal of momoe and kaoru and the way that momoe becomes so passionate about expressing herself the way she wants to as a girl is just... good lord im gonna cry its so perfect,,,.so ... i just love this show way too much. i also am honestly super lost about the relationship btwn acca and ura-acca ?? bc i was gonna mention ura-acca as a canonically gay guy bc when i was watching i interpreted ep 11 as him being in love with acca and being jealous of Azusa (bc i mean,, they lived together (i swear to god there was only one bed in that apartment) and had a daughter together and def loved each other and also when Frill said they were husbands and then when ura-acca said he wasnt attracted to azusa but he was def jealous of their relationship ??) but then i saw somewhere that theyre brothers ?? which would make sense ig since they look kinda similar and accas daughter called ura-acca “uncle”.. but at the same time its ANIME SO THEY ALL LOOK SIMILAR and referring to gay couples as siblings is an EXTREMELY common euphemism soooo... IM JUST LOST HERE... but yeah i tried doing research and found different things so i cant say anything for sure >:( however,,, if they are canonically a lil fruity for each other... when frill refered to acca as ura-accas husband i imploded dude you never hear that sort of wording in anime.. but if theyre related i am so sorry.
god this is so much longer than i planned it to be oops but i also love the theme about like.. relying on friends to help carry your weight but at the same time not becoming completely dependent on those friends and using their support to learn how to love yourself and rely on yourself yknow ?? bc that is exactly what healthy friendships look like. bc i think ai sort of had a codependency thing goin on with koito maybe ?? but now she has a whole squad of funky friends that are so so different but all struggle with different kinds of trauma and although they fight over it, they always get through it with each other together. and they push each other no matter what to be the best versions of themselves and they teach other that getting hurt is okay because theyre always gonna be there to pick up the pieces no matter what happens. they can give each other space when they need and adapt to meet each others needs but theyre always able to balance it out with their own needs and thats such a beautiful thing in friendships especially at their age like damn i wish i had that maturity when i was 14 but no all i had was depression. another thing is that through these friendships you get to see all the different sides of each girl; you get to see them being strong or a shining light to their friends when theyre hurting but you also get to see them being hurt and weak and allowing themselves to be on the receiving end of the comfort. their friendships allows them to have weaknesses but it also allows them to highlight their strengths and thrive off of each others. I LOVE FRIENDSHIP DUDE
next i wanna briefly mention some of the themes connected to suicide that ive noticed. a big one is the survivors guilt that ai feels once koito is dead. several times she screams that she wishes she couldve gone with koito and she dreams of a “perfect world” where they committed a double suicide. one of the main reasons for her troubles is that she blames herself for koitos death and feels like it should be her thats dead... but at the same time she feels like too much of a coward to do anything now that koito is gone. she just has all these complex and contradicting feelings that wear away at her in ways that ppl that havent gone through the suicide of a loved one could never imagine. a lot of the times when things like this are portrayed in media i feel like its more in a way thats meant to guilt trip those that have taken their own lives and paint suicide as this selfish sin thats unforgivable but... not only does wonder egg reject that idea and instead portray it as a heartbreaking tragedy with,,, so so many terrible reasons, but it focuses on the feelings of ai separate from koito without blaming her in any way. not once did i feel like the show antagonized koito or that ai blamed koito for doing any of this, but they simply mourned her loss and touched on ais reaction towards the event but separate from koito herself if that makes sense. and i think that discussing survivors guilt without painting koito as the bad guy is something so beautifully done in wonder egg that can really resonate with those that have lost a loved one to suicide and have struggled with these same things.
okay i think this is the last thing ill mention,,, but HOMIE THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE BIT AT THE END. I AM. OBSESSED. i am such a whore for anything about the multiverse okay n e ways...,, not only did this make a super epic trippy ending of season one and add a little bit more magical girl whimsy to the show,, but it had such a powerful message. from the perspective of og ai,, finding out that you killed yourself in another world is... i mean its definitely not a surprise but at the same time it rlly makes you think how close og ai herself couldve been to that point and what decisions led her out of that dark place in her life. if i were in her shoes i would be terrified and id cry bc the thought of going back to such a dark place and actually going through with something like that is my worst fear and probably something that ai fears too. but at the same time,,, think from the perspective of ai two !!! like yeah its true that theres this awful terrible version of ai that dies but theres also a whole version of ai that is a superhero magical girl fighting off monsters to save countless ppls lives !! and she has a badass lizard and a gang of awesome friends !!! at first i was worried that ai two would be jealous of og ai and compare herself to her and feel inferior but like.. THEYRE LITERALLY THE SAME PERSON AND CAPABLE OF THE SAME THINGS !!! and ai two realized that !! just within the span of one episode, she went from the version of ai who took her life,, to the version of ai jumping in front of a friend to take a bullet for them and save their life. and that just inspired THE SHIT OUT OF ME. i think that ai was sent another version of herself to sort of beat her own worst enemy yknow ?? those doubts and fears that shes no good or that shes that same bystander from episode one and that she hasnt changed at all. but getting to interact with her parallel self and see her grow was just what she needed to realize that while yeah sometimes the worst thing can happen and things can be terrible but on the other hand sometimes the most wonderful thing imaginable can happen because she has the power to do either.
so im gonna go ahead and stop rambling bc i got all my thoughts out that i wanted to for this post :D but yeah lol i might make another if i feel like it sometime. long story short: this show is perfect and it is going on my favorite of all times.

Here’s the final part of the “Raph is a system” theory compilation post! It’s the last of what I can scrape up from canon; while I still have ideas on how it might loop back into character interactions and plot and so on, they’re much more speculative in nature. (Part 1 is here) (Part 2 is here) (You’re reading Part 3)
---
Tumblr media
"Red” is the alter with the least screen time, so it took a while for me to connect the dots on when and why he formed.
His shadowed face, the dramatic background music when he speaks, and his seriousness are reminiscent of the “brooding on rooftops in the rain while gloomily staring off into the distance” thing that Raphs throughout the franchise will do sometimes. That’s easy to poke fun at on a superficial level because most of us look back on our edgy phases with self-deprecation, but it’s a lot less funny in the context of the life he lives. Being a normal human teenager in normal human society is a fucking nightmare; being a mutant teenager who has no idea what to expect in terms of development or lifespan, only five people he can safely interact with ever, and a very limited future hiding from everyone else for as long as he lives has got to be just awful.
RR’s few lines in “Pizza Puffs” tell us a lot. “It’s the only way they’ll learn” and “this is for their own good” suggest that he formed when the turtles started exploring more of the sewers and going aboveground, and Being The Leader became more of a responsibility. A thousand new ways for them to get in trouble meant a thousand new ways Raph would have to bail them out, and that got old fast- especially since they didn’t have April’s knowledge to help them in the beginning. I doubt they met her the very first time they left the sewers. The wiki says April knew the boys for five years as of “Mystic Mayhem”, so they would have been nearly eight at the time, perhaps the mental equivalent of a ten- or eleven-year-old human.
A while back I sifted through all the eps with Raph in them in the vague hopes that “Pizza Puffs” wasn’t the only episode featuring RR... and lo and behold, I found something! The shadowed face and dramatic background music are also present in “Minotaur Maze”!
“I can’t do it. I got no mystic mojo. I’m useless.”
“Hey, that’s not true, brother. You just gotta believe in yourself, and know this: If I die in this maze, I will haunt you for the rest of your life.”
Tumblr media
(I know that’s only two data points, but y’all canonically cannot scoff at me.) RR shows up when HR is no longer able to tolerate the bullshit at hand. “I’m not going to baby you Leo, get your shit together before your ego kills us all” was a reasonable response to nearly being shish-kebab’d.
“Pizza Puffs”, on the other hand... LDM pulled through in the end, but that RR got HR to stay behind added an unnecessary level of risk. Getting his brothers to learn a lesson should have waited until after the giant mutant cannibal had been dealt with and they were no longer poisoned.
This hands-off “figure it out on your own” approach probably came from Splinter. I swear to Pizza Supreme In The Sky I’m not trying to shit-talk him, but his lack of involvement with his sons was a major flaw. Before all that character development he was terrible at things like “emotional support” and “life lessons”, leaving Raph without the blueprints to deal with a lot of problems. HR would respond by rushing in and figuring things out as he went, but sometimes RR would have to say “No, we’re maxed out and can’t deal with this, we’ve gotta step back”. As we’ve seen in other iterations, when Raph is maxed out and doesn’t step back...
Tumblr media
...he goes too far. Plenty of folks have commented on how rarely the Rise turtles smack each other around compared to other versions; it’s telling that RR spoke up just a moment after HR smacked Mikey in “Pizza Puffs”.
Raph is much bigger and stronger than his brothers this time around, meaning such an outburst would have a much higher risk of Genuine Grievous Injury. And while his size and strength also mean a measure of gentleness has been baked into him since day one, there would still be times HR would feel himself boiling over and RR would head off somewhere quiet for fear of the above situation; which was potentially alluded to in “Hot Soup: The Game”.
“You went out on your own when you were his age.”
Tumblr media
The context of “Man vs. Sewer” suggests Raph isn’t going to go off on his own without very good reason- such as cooling down before he does something he regrets. That this detail shows up in Casey’s debut episode suggests it is how they will properly meet and bond, since befriending Casey and doing vigilante shit with him is what usually gives Raph a way to blow off steam while having someone nearby to keep him in check. But that probably won’t happen until partway through season 3, since I doubt we can cram the rest of Casey’s redemption arc into the movie alongside the invasion and time travel trauma shenanigans and leader drama. So in the meantime RR will continue to brood on rooftops in bad weather and listen to Ephemerality songs and monologue to himself because he knows nobody’s going to hear him over the incessant background noise that makes up the cities above and below.
I was a bit stumped about how that meeting would take place- the events of the finale (and possibly also the movie) would no doubt have both the human and yokai populations on high alert, making it dangerous for RR to slip away for some peace and quiet. But the events of the finale also gave us some insight on Raph’s powers; he has a way to leave without actually leaving!
Hardlight Clone Jutsu, baby!
Tumblr media
So whenever HR finds himself in a particularly sour mood, a wisp of power winds its way up through the open-air portion of the lair and forms into a clone aboveground. HR doesn’t have to leave for a while to cool down before coming back and dealing with the situation calmly, because RR is already on a rooftop somewhere dissipating those bad feelings by listening to the rain and/or yeeting trash cans.
But mutants can’t freely walk the streets of New York, and the Hidden City Police probably still have it out for Raph. And someone, hero or villain, will eventually realize that Raph has a gloomy stray clone running around and ask questions that can’t be answered without cracking open the can of worms that is This Whole Situation. RR needs to get creative. That we’ve seen clones have both full color and the basic red/white palette suggests their color could be altered in other ways; and that the holo-form grew extra arms in the lair fight vs. the Shredder suggests their shape could also be changed further.
So what will he choose to look like, if not his body?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously he’ll use a red and black color palette because it slaps, leaning more towards black since I compared him to Batman back in Part 1. A low-detail design makes it hard to identify him, giving onlookers the impression that they just couldn't see him well in the dark. Mentally filing down his spikes and decreasing the curve of his shell are easy enough, but it takes him a while to figure out five fingers instead of three, and there’s not much he can do about his voice other than lowering the pitch so he just opts to not talk much within earshot of others. A cape further disguises his silhouette and again, it slaps. The impression of a mask means he doesn’t need a face and it lets peoples’ assumptions work for him. Humans are more likely to think he’s human than a Very Human-Shaped Mutant, and yokai come in so many shapes as is that he could be anything from a witch to a dehydrated googlyschmootz.
Tumblr media
(You know how it is with franchises. Old patterns repeating in new ways.)
New York City never sleeps, and I doubt the Hidden City does either. He’ll run into Casey eventually, but in the interim he stumbles across and intervenes in some attempted purse-snatchings and kidnappings and the like. Most of the would-be victims use his arrival as their chance to escape, but one of them is too frozen with fear to move until their attackers are chased off into the dark. He escorts them home, and it’s only once they’re at their doorstep that they work up the courage to ask him who he is.
It’s... a difficult question, in more ways than one. “Raph” is out of the question. “Red” isn’t quite right, and neither is “Angel”- they’re a tad too identifying still, and the R.A.P.H. thing was HR’s idea anyway. So he shrugs, and melts away into the shadows.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m Nobody.”

BnHA Chapter 276: Our Turn to Save You
Previously on BnHA: In a refreshing change of pace from the usual “the adults refuse to tell the kids anything” shtick, Deku and Kacchan flew around trying to get Tomura’s attention while refusing to explain jack shit to Endeavor! Deku eventually thought to ask Kacchan why he was getting in on this, and Kacchan launched into a two-page Denial Speech which seemed expressly designed to prime him for losing his quirk any fucking second now! Tomura then showed up and the two of them were all “KJSDLFK” but thankfully Gran dove in to rescue them from dying INSTANTANEOUS HORRIBLE DEATHS, and reminded them that there are practically SIX WHOLE GROWN-UPS left who can definitely still fight Tomura and won’t die at all!! And one of those grown-ups is Aizawa! Who’s getting ready to fight Tomura now! Listen Horikoshi you fucker, when I asked for more Aizawa angst and badassery this ISN’T WHAT I –
Today on BnHA: Tomura is all “THIS QUIRK WON’T STOP ME BECAUSE I CAN’T READ” and sort of shrugs it off and continues to kick ass even though his Decay and AFO powers aren’t working. The pros all try to stop him with Endeavor taking the lead, and because THEY ALL SUCK, APPARENTLY, nothing they do is effective in any way whatsoever! Meanwhile Gran dumps Deku and Kacchan off and is all “YOU’LL BE FINE HERE” which is the most ridiculous thing anyone in this manga has ever said, and then pretty much as soon as he says it at least nine more High Ends (excuse me, NEARLY High Ends) just POP UP OUT OF NOWHERE and are all “RARR” and the heroes are all “oh shit” and Tomura is all “lol yeah I actually had more High Ends this whole time” and Ujiko is all “it’s true!” and, fuck. The chapter ends with Tomura charging in to kill Aizawa only to be intercepted by MY TWO PRECIOUS BABIES, MY DARLING LITTLE HERO HATCHLINGS, and...!! I blame Gran for this.
gotta say, my sense of time is distorted enough as it is these days without chapter leaks coming out A WHOLE ENTIRE DAY EARLY out of nowhere. not that I’m complaining, because I want to see Aizawa kick some ass & immediately lose his fucking quirk as much as anyone, but it is disorienting
anyway time to dive into this chapter which I predict will be titled “everything instantly goes horribly wrong.” I’ve had a lot of time these past two weeks to think about what is going to happen next, and I’m pretty sure I nailed it you guys
so we’re opening with a familiar sight
Tumblr media
I like that Horikoshi thinks that helicopters go “chop chop.” well, close enough
anyway, so yet again we have a scene in BnHA of a town in the process of being destroyed by villains while a helicopter whirs (WHIRS, Horikoshi) and chuffs (SOMETIMES THEY CHUFF TOO) anxiously nearby. I wonder if this helicopter is going to fucking disintegrate. that’d be something new
ARE YOU GOING TO DIE, MISTER LIVE REPORTER SIR. OH MAN. OH GOD I’M ANXIOUS
Tumblr media
dozens, you guys! there are dozens of them left! not to worry then. the good guys definitely still got this
oh hey it’s that news anchor with the cutely fucked-up backstory of chopping off his own horn so as to more handsomely report the news
Tumblr media
oh god don’t tell me this whole thing is going to be broadcast live. that’s all we fucking need right now. I wonder what’s going to throw society into chaos more, the reveal of just how powerful Tomura is now, or the exposure of what the government-mandated child soldiers get to do during their super-educational practical on-the-job training! no coffee-fetching for these kiddos! we’ve got ‘em rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands good and dirty!
oh hey and it looks like this means that All Might will get to watch protege #2 lose his quirk live on TV -- HEY WHAT ARE YOU SERIOUS
Tumblr media
BAD BABYSITTER!! MY GOD MAN, I KNOW YOU’RE THE INDULGENT GRANDFATHER TYPE, BUT MAYBE CONSIDER CHANGING THE CHANNEL TO DOC MCSTUFFINS FOR THE TIME BEING??!
also I know this is just a perspective thing probably but lmao his hand on her shoulder is fucking huge. All Might you been working out again
but seriously this is not good for either of them to witness. they don’t need more trauma in their lives! All Might doesn’t need yet another thing to blame himself over! and he has conflicted feelings about Tomura still on top of that which I’m sure isn’t going to make this any easier. ANGST ALL AROUND. EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK, EVERYWHERE YOU GOOOO
MOTHERFUCKER I --
Tumblr media
is Mitsuki looking at fucking baby pictures of Kacchan. reliving the memories of the good old days, thinking about how far her baby boy has come and how proud she is. that’s just great you guys. that’s just fucking great. these aren’t even red flags at this point these are red fucking tapestries
(ETA: and this basically goes without saying, but I’m sure the fact that not one but THREE Todorokis are represented in this little montage means that Endeavor and Shouto are also going to be just fine.)
:)
Tumblr media
HE’S SO HAPPY just fucking try and tell me he doesn’t have a mental fucking link to Tomura and Deku you guys. this bitch knows exactly what is going down right now and he is LIVING FOR IT. that does it. someone please save my spot in the chapter for me I am going to go take a quick walk to calm down
and of COURSE that’s a fucking lie though, god -- [frantically clicks to next page]
LOL HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS
Tumblr media
FUCKING MANUAL IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY LMAO. YOU CAN ALL FUCKING RELAX NOW. and fuck me, I’m so fucking happy RockLockRock is still alive as well but WHY ARE YOU STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO AIZAWA IN WHAT I LIKE TO CALL THE “CAUTION: YOU WILL GET SHOT” ZONE. swear to god Horikoshi THAT MAN HAS A FAMILY don’t you even think about -- !!
sigh, anyway so then the rest of the page is panels of Gran & The Boys, Endeavor, and Tomura, along with the text “WHICH SIDE IS THE VICTOR”, which is not helping matters any! also the title of the chapter is “Cheating” which I assume is a reference to both the erasure of Tomura’s quirk, and the soon-to-happen permanent removal of Aizawa’s. I’m just an optimist like that
oh hey and Tomura’s sending out some quick orders to his squad as well
Tumblr media
and to think this homicidal maniac is in my top ten favorite characters. sob. I do love you kiddo so please don’t take it personally that I have to unequivocally root against you here. maybe if you listened to me once in a while and would even just consider my radical alternate plan of not killing anyone in sight
anyway lol but here everyone including myself thought he was going straight for the bullets and instead he was pulling out his phone. shows what we know. [braces myself for the follow-up panel of him putting the phone away again and THEN reaching for the bullets!!]
meanwhile we’re being introduced to some new sidekick of Endeavor’s who’s probably going to set the record for shortest time in between being introduced and dying horribly. sorry Kido. I’m just jaded
Tumblr media
don’t mind me I’m just putting up emotional walls in between myself and any new lovable characters as a means of self-preservation. mmhmm. he can manipulate the trajectory of things. that’s nice. he seems nice. wouldn’t that be a nice quirk for Tomura to steal and then trajector a bullet straight towards Aizawa ffffff
(ETA: watch this space, everyone. Endeavor’s Sidekick Kido. gonna fuck everything up for everyone, mark my words.)
so I can’t help but notice that now that Tomura can’t use his quirk anymore and is helpless, they have all decided to just sit around doing nothing again?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like. far be it from me to openly wonder why they are not immediately knocking him out or setting him on fire again or whatnot. I am just a lowly civilian. it’s not my job to question these things
(ETA: I must learn to be patient.)
also lmao at Manual saying Aizawa’s ankle is “twisted”, similar to how Deku is constantly “twisting” all of his arms and legs all the time. or did he mean “twisted” in the sense that his leg was pretty much literally wrung out like a fucking towel
anyway so Manual is waterbending liquid into Aizawa’s eyes like that’s supposed to help him NOT close them
Tumblr media
has Horikoshi ever had water splashed into his fucking eyes. he and I have had very different experiences as to the effects of this apparently
there we go!!
Tumblr media
at least someone out here is fucking trying. for a second there I was honestly worried we were going to see a repeat of “oh well he seems dead enough, let’s just leave, see you at the victory party this weekend, X-Less”
LMAO WHAT KIND OF NONSENSE
Tumblr media
[GRABS THESE PANELS AND WAVES THEM IN FRONT OF THE UNCONSCIOUS HAWKS] DID YOU HEAR THAT. DO YOU SEE THAT, BOYO. FACTS. BEING WEAK TO FIRE IS, IN FACT, 100 PERCENT A CHOICE. IF YOU HAD JUST DONE MORE PUSH-UPS AND TRAINED HARDER YOU WOULDN’T BE IN THIS SITUATION RIGHT NOW. SMDH. YOU FUCKING WIMP. YOU RECREANT. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED
hooooh man. hokay. whew. has anyone seen my suspension of disbelief. I’m so used to having it on me at all times when I read this manga that I must have let my guard down and now it seems I’ve spaced it out. well we’ll just keep a lookout for it
so now we’re cutting to Ujiko who is gleefully bragging that Tomura’s strength is on par with All Might Prime’s, which is just great. and now he’s also starting this sentence and then just... not... finishing it
Tumblr media
that’s fine. you just trail off, then. hang those implications. whatever dude
meanwhile RLR and Manny are helping Aizawa limp away while he awkwardly has to twist his neck around to be able to still keep Tomura in his line of sight. I feel like there was probably a better way for them to do this but whatever
anyway thanks for confirming that Ujiko did make Tomura into a Noumu in addition to giving him AFO, though, Horikoshi! that’s very nice of you to unsink one of my theories like that. appreciate it
Tumblr media
and hold up, so it occurs to me that “Being Fireproof” could still be a quirk, but just a mutant-type quirk rather than an activation type, meaning that Erasure would have no effect on it! aha! oh, there’s my suspension of disbelief lol it was in my pocket the whole time!!
anyway so Endeavor and Tomura are tussling but I really wish they’d be more careful because if Tomura is still capable of super strength and super speed then he could propel himself out of Aizawa’s line of sight really easily and I feel like this isn’t really helping
Tumblr media
is it just me or do they look like they’re TRYING to jump in between Aizawa and Tomura, like?!?! GUYS
LMAO now Gran is just
Tumblr media
SHUP. toss. dusts off hands. well that takes care of that
and apparently he’s under the genuine impression that a mere “now stay put you dumdums” is going to have any effect on these two whatsoever. lol okay. we’ll see
anyways YESSSSS, KACCHAN MEET GRAN, GRAN, KACCHAN
Tumblr media
meanwhile Kacchan falls silent as he mentally tries to work out who tf “Toshinori” is lmao. I’M SO CHUFFED ABOUT THIS. YES THAT’S ANOTHER USE OF THE WORD “CHUFFED.” VERY VERSATILE AND REMINISCENT OF HELICOPTER BLADES WHIRLING
and now here’s a convenient map showing how far away Deku and Kacchan are from safety!
Tumblr media
thanks for that. that’s so reassuring to have this nifty little visual
OH MY GOD GRAN
Tumblr media
DO YOU WANT TO FUCKING DIE?? DOES EVERYONE IN THIS FUCKING ARC HAVE A DEATH WISH. MY GOD
“BUT FAR BE IT FROM ME TO LEAVE WITHOUT ANY OMINOUS FORESHADOWING!!” NO INDEED WE CAN’T HAVE THAT!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rather than focus anymore on how goddamn foreboding that is, I would instead like to take this moment to call attention to the fact that Gran apparently knows Bakugou’s name but not Present Mic’s. that’s amazing
sob
Tumblr media
what good indeed. imagine if they couldn’t even do that. I imagine that would have some far-reaching consequences which might even be interesting to explore as part of a story
:O
Tumblr media
I made the same face as them just now fyi
fucking Schrodinger’s High Ends. they only exist when the plot says it’s convenient for them to exist. maybe they’re like fairies and if you say you don’t believe in them they drop dead. where the fuck did these things actually come from?!
WAY TO DROP THE BOYS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF NOUMU FUCKING CENTRAL MY GOOD MAN. MAYBE WE SHOULD SCROLL BACK UP AND UPDATE THAT MAP. GOOD JOB LMAO
WHAT THE FUCK
Tumblr media
welp. they deleted Tomura’s quirk and then sent the strongest guy they had after him, annnnnnnd he went and beat him anyway in like two fucking seconds. so that’s. ... wowee. ...so do we have a plan b, or...
like, holy shit though?? and can you imagine the kind of psychological impact this is having on everyone watching this live on TV right now?? this is literally the anti-Kamino. holy fucking shit. also did Tomura lose an arm or am I just not understanding this image right?? NOT THAT IT SEEMS TO BE BOTHERING HIM IN THE SLIGHTEST??
(ETA: somehow I missed the fact that he is even calling attention to it lol. “I’ll raise [the other hand] when it’s back.” fucking look at Mr. Transcendent here who’s so powerful that when you tear his arms off all it does is make him more sassy. is he secretly related to Mirko.)
idk guys I really think my original chapter title was better
Tumblr media
at least Endeavor isn’t fucking dead just yet. four more pages and you might actually make it out of this chapter alive my good man
blah blah blah flashback to Ujiko explaining that the Noumu could be activated by an electric current flowing through them, and that they’re programmed to move only on Tomura’s orders. you know. just more good news
oh hey but at least these ones are mindless so I guess it’s okay for the kids to kick their asses without feeling too conflicted. it’s just too bad “their strength is higher quality than the others” but you win some, you lose some
OH GOOD, THEY’RE GOING STRAIGHT FOR AIZAWA
Tumblr media
I’M SURE THAT MIDORIYA “MY BODY MOVED BEFORE I COULD THINK” IZUKU AND BAKUGOU “I’M THE ONE WHO’LL GET PAYBACK FOR THAT DAY” KATSUKI WILL TAKE THEIR GRANDPA’S SAGE ADVICE AND GO AND HIDE WHILE THEIR TEACHER IS IN DANGER. IT’S NOT LIKE THEY’VE LITERALLY GONE TO SCHOOL FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR EXPLICITLY MAJORING IN NOT DOING THAT. YES THIS IS FINE THIS IS FUCKING FINE AND GREAT

Tumblr media
[sitting curled up into a little ball with my knees drawn up to my chest, drawing little finger circles on the floor] I see. so he’s not even concerned about himself at all. it’s his two tiny little hero eggs, his problem children, and the fact that if he dies here there won’t be anything preventing Tomura from finding and killing them. ahh. okay. it’s okay. that’s fine
and goddammit what is he pulling out from his belt. everyone is on the same page here, right? Aizawa’s Not Allowed To Die. that was the deal. WHAT HAS THIS ALL BEEN FOR OTHERWISE
(ETA: yeah but he seriously did just pull a knife out of fucking nowhere though like the kid in that fucking vine lmao. APPARENTLY HE’S HAD IT THIS ENTIRE TIME?? “what if I just stabbed him” lulz. based on the way things were trending, I’m willing to bet it would have literally bounced off of Tomura’s chest at this point, but I’ll give him credit for making the effort.)
NOPE NOPE NOPE NO
Tumblr media
(ETA: Shinsou being in the bottom corner... ;_; )
is anyone listening to me!??! I’m over here screaming myself fucking hoarse??! AIZAWA ISN’T FUCKING ALLOWED TO DIE??!! HELLO!?!?!
lol well at least RLR didn’t get steamrolled over
Tumblr media
well everyone. we’ve reached page 18. one more to go. what are the odds we end with the boys arriving in the ta-da nick of time to defend their teacher. just who is watching over whom
THERE IT IS!!!
Tumblr media
OH NO OH GOD AM I CRYING??! YOU HAD TO GO AND PUT THOSE FLASHBACK PANELS IN?? HIM SAVING DEKU AND CO. AT USJ, PLUS THAT ONE TIME HE DEFENDED BAKUGOU DURING HIS MOST VULNERABLE MOMENT IN FRONT OF A NATIONAL AUDIENCE??? “IT’S OUR TURN TO SAVE YOU”???
and they look so determined and desperate?? and the “Aizawa-sensei!” echoing in both their minds?? and meanwhile Aizawa looks fucking horrified though, because of all the... [gestures] you know? the Terrible Danger?? sob??
anyway. I really let this manga do this to me every damn week. let it just have its fucking way with me. at least Horikoshi didn’t end up breaking the law after all. I don’t know if I could continue to support a mangaka who is willing to commit an actual war crime. no touching Aizawa. OKAY?? OKAY

Well, here it is - a lengthy explanation of each card in my mdzs major arcana deck and what I meant to convey/what i would have changed in retrospect/what alternatives i considered! It’s a bit messy and my typing style is lazy but hopefully it will be an interesting read to some of you :)
And so you don’t say I didn’t warn you - jiang cheng’s section (11 justice) is absurdly long lmao
0 the fool  I elaborated on this in the post itself but yeah basically jin ling is kind of representative of all the damage and trauma caused by the past, and there’s a kind of danger there of him falling victim to the same vices as the older characters and repeating the same mistakes and perpetuating the cycle of war and misery (the cycle that we already see with how the jin sect became the new wen sect, and later with how jgy became the new wwx) and he has a lot of room to grow! He grows so much over the course of the novel, comes to realise the complexities of the past and gets a harsh life lesson in how nothing is as black and white as it seems. But ill save talking about his progress for the end, for now whats important is that he has room to grow and also a dog. I don’t really have a justification for the sun, i mostly just thought it looked sick? It made its way to the next card as well, where it makes a bit more sense, but then i realised it was a dumb motif to include 1 the magician I still very much like wwx for the role, and that illustration would have probably had him raising a corpse on his left and pointing threateningly to the sun on his right. I considered including the table as well, with some mdzs relevant items replacing the card suits. Anyway, like i said wwx got a few cards to himself already so i went with the alternative wq design, since i think she fits the card as well. Both she and wwx are highly skilled people, extremely driven once they set their mind to something. The card to me symbolises the creative mind as well as a general drive for action, which fits them both - wwx was famously a prolific inventor, and wq came up with a previously unheard of surgery, after all. This card strays pretty far from the rider-waite deck design, largely because i was still figuring out how i wanted to approach this series, but you can still see the influence. 2 the high priestess I was actually going to skip this card at first because I couldn’t think of a fitting character, but once i considered a qings character post death, it all fit pretty well. She was already a highly intuitive person in life, and in sharing her memories with wwx she is, in a way, relaying a kind of secret knowledge. Anyway she’s one of my fav characters so im glad i got a chance to include her. The coffins could be interpreted to be xxc and sl or xxc and xy 3 the empress Theres other mother figures in mdzs who got to be mothers for a longer time, but jyl definitely embodies the positive aspects of this card the best. She’s nurturing, kind, emotionally supportive, she already mothered wwx and jc quite a bit when she was young. Plus i liked that the rw card had both water and flowers, making an easy lotus connection. In retrospect the stars look kind of out of place and i should have replaced them with something more relevant... Also, i should have had her hold a lotus seed pod instead of a flower, haha 4 the emperor Like i said I considered jc for the role but hoching bullied me into admitting that nmj was better… they’re both more of an inverted emperor than an upright one but then again theres hardly any character in mdzs who would fit upright emperor so. Jgs was also considered but he’s even uglier than nmj so i couldn’t bear to draw him 5 the hierophant It was pointed out to me that lqr would have fit this card better and the truth if that statement haunts me to this day. Unfortunately I have no space in my brain for lqr so lxc got the role instead. My main reason was his role during the wen destruction of gusu lan, when he ran away with the contents of the library - this is why there’s bookshelves behind him. The keys, take, from the rider-waite deck, are meant to represent the gusu pendants that allow you to enter 6 the lovers Im sure many people would have chosen wangxian here but I uhh don’t really care abt wangxian personally? And also their love story is so convoluted that jyl and jzx seem idyllic by comparison lol. Also i didnt really have an idea for who to put in the angel’s place for wangxian… mme jin certainly did not get these two together in the end but undeniably she and mme yu did initially give them a chance to fall for each other so. Thats something i guess. Anyway the trees became their sects’ flowers and the mountain became the burial grounds - an omen of their tragic fate, basically 7 the chariot There might have been other characters who fit this card better but i couldn’t really think of another card for lwj and i thought it would be weird to not include him… anyway i don’t really care for current timeline lwj BUT i do like that he was clearly influenced by wwx to walk his own path in life based on his moral convictions rather than follow his sect’s rules blindly. The chariot is to me a card of self control, self determination and focused action, so it seemed fitting. The composition felt kind of empty without the actual chariot so i padded it out with the guqin, the cloud recess in the bg (it doesn’t look great but i tried to replicate the drama design….) and the bunnies which conveniently fit the colour scheme of the sphinxes in the rider-waite design 8 strength Like i said before, my interpretation of this card is more… morally ambiguous than the quote unquote official meaning, so i thought about manipulative or duplicitous characters more than kind characters whose strength is expressed through gentleness (though i did consider jyl briefly for the latter interpretation). As such, i considered both jgy and nhs, but ended up going with jgy largely because i couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put the nie sect’s beast as the lion. 9 the hermit My thoughts immediately went to bssr lol. It may be an overly literal interpretation but whatever, i like it just fine. And i like that i managed to echo the rider-waite silhouette in the mountain and the tree (and even in bssr herself) 10 wheel of fortune God i love the parallels between these 2… this card to me is about how you cant trust your current situation, good or bad, to last forever, and these 2 embody that perfectly imo. Wwx went from son of a well off servant and a powerful cultivator, to street rat orphan, to adopted son of sect leader jiang, to double orphan, to MIA, to terrifying but admired warrior, to terrifying and despised traitor, to dead, to, at the very end, suddenly respected and trusted again. The dishonesty and cheapness of whatever the public’s current opinion of him is is portrayed beautifully as far as im concerned. And jgy of course claws his way up to power only to instantaneously become public enemy number one, to the point that he’s probably blamed for stuff there’s no reason to believe he had a hand in. Wei wuxian’s silent astonishment at how quickly the cultivation world turns against jgy and towards him again is a delicious moment of thematic resonance.  11 justice I settled on this card for jc after he got booted from the emperor seat but i do think it fits, in a somewhat convoluted way. I turned both the sword and the scales into visual representations of the golden core transfer (can you tell im obsessed with it). According to biddy tarot, the justice card is partly about searching for the truth, and the scene where jc finds out about the transfer is of course a big deal. I was also very influenced by the reversed meaning again - which is about being reluctant or unwilling to face or accept the consequences of your actions. I feel on an intuitive level that this fits jc but I’m not sure how well i can explain it - it’s something about how he’s a little too comfortable scapegoating wwx for things that were also, if much less so, influenced by his actions, and also something about the way he keeps wwx at an arm’s length emotionally but still leans on him and accepts his support when he really needs it, and somewhat hypocritically expects wwx to put the needs of him and the jiang sect before the needs of others. And also something about the core exchange is the consequence and proof of wwx’s deep - terrifyingly deep, even - love and care for him, which is something jc doesn’t seem to let himself acknowledge. Maybe even something about how you could argue that the way all of the jiangs acted around wwx - jfm’s favouritism that left him with the feeling of a debt he needs to repay, mme yus insistence that he be a servant more than a brother to jc, prepared to give his life for jc, and jc’s own unwillingness - or inability, he was a child after all - to clearly acknowledge wwx as an equal to himself, enabling wwx’s self sacrificial and protective tendencies - that all of this was what caused wwx’s complete and unquestioning willingness to do whatever it took to protect jc, and therefore paved the way to the golden core transfer. And i don’t mean this to be scapegoating jc - especially considering how young he was when this all went down, it wouldn’t be fair to expect this level of emotional perceptiveness, awareness and maturity of him - but i think adult jc has to grapple with the fact that the chain of cause and effect was not as simple as wwx fucking everyone’s lives up to be a martyr, and that both jc and his parents had a role in that story as well. I don’t even necessarily think this is something that jc only realised in the current timeline - i think it’s something he felt on some level this whole time, and it probably led to a lot of feelings of guilt - but the suibian reveal definitely puts it in sharp focus, and i think he’s now better equipped to handle this introspection than he was as a recently orphaned, traumatised teenager, lol. ANYWAY the window with the fabric is both a nod to the rider-waite design and a reference to the destruction of lanling - i actually did some basic ass research for this, and it seems that in ancient china fabric would indeed be hanged in a window if the normally used paper was damaged. The design of the window, as well as the very idea to use it to imply the reconstruction of lanling, was taken from this great piece of jc angst by my pal moroll1! Oh yeah also the covered window kind of works as a denial of forgiveness for jc because it’s like a halo but covered up... Also I completely forgot to put a blindfold over his eyes which would be perfectttt because blind justice and the core exchange......... ok moving on 12 the hanged man I always have issues with this card because i cant find a satisfactory summary of what it’s really about. Best i can tell it symbolises a need to hit pause, surrender or let go of something… ive also seen it tied to sacrifice? So mo xuanyu doesn’t fit perfectly, but sacrifice is definitely there in a surface level reading kind of way, and the idea that you have to surrender or let go in order to achieve your goal does fit the whole deal of getting revenge but giving up your life in exchange and not being there to see it 13 death This is probably one of my favourite cards, definitely not because I have huge issues with change or anything…. I see this card as signalling the necessity of change or putting an end to something / leaving something in the past in order to start anew? At first i considered putting past wwx, mxy and current wwx here as a kind of transformation and one cycle flowing into the next... But firstly, I’d already used mxy in the very previous card, so putting him in again would feel like overkill, and secondly, the longer I thought about it the less convinced I was that this would even fit with the card’s meaning? Because coming back from the dead doesn’t like... trigger an internal transformation within wwx or anything? Anyway, fun fact: the design I ended up going with was actually originally intended for judgement! I thought I was being very clever with the whole “figure plays an instrument and the dead rise” parallel, but apparently I’d just completely forgotten that the judgement card had a completely different composition... Truly I was boo boo the fool... But yeah anyway at the end of the day I figured the design would kind of work for death as well, with Wen Ning and the theme of transformation, (since in his case coming back as a fierce corpse does actually mark a certain transformation in behaviour) and Wei Wuxian’s protection of the Wen people essentially signifying an attempt to break the cycle of oppression if that makes any sense? Like, wwx is trying to revolutionise the way the world works a bit, if you catch my drift 14 temperance  The centrist card! Again this is probably going off track from the “official” interpretation, but to me this card has a certain “don’t commit fully; do everything in moderation; don’t take either side” flavour to it that i personally find infuriating irl and that i very much assign to lxc. It’s entirely possible that I’m misinterpreting his character because i didn’t really pay him (and the 3zun in general) much mind while reading, but hell, I’m allowed to pick favourites and choose who i want to interpret deeply vs shallowly. Again, i wish id chosen lqr for hierophant because its so annoying for a character i don’t care about to get two cards…. But oh well 15 the devil My alternative idea for this was jgy as the devil and lxc plus nmj as the figures, but since all three had been featured already (multiple times, even!) i figured I’d go with xy instead, especially since he’s among my faves lol. I think the devil signifies something along the lines of unhealthy attachment, obsession or addiction, which isn’t 100% accurate in the case of xxc and a-qing, but if i stretch it a bit to cover toxic relationships in general, and especially manipulation or negative influence, i don’t think it’s half bad. My main struggle here was to choose who amongst the xxc/sl/aq trio to choose for the human figures. 16 the tower Arguably jin zixuans death and the following massacre of nightless city were the final and most direct reason for the siege of burial mounds, and the tiger seal is good shorthand for wwx’s loss of control over his powers, which led to the deaths of jzx and jyl. When reimagining major arcana i like to feature some kind of building in this card (spoilers for a possible future project but in my rose of versailles major arcana set the tower is bastille) and even if it’s not a tower, the image of wwx looming over the gathered crowd from atop a rooftop is so good i couldn’t resist 17 the star Struggled with this one - considered both jin ling and lsz for it, as symbolising a hope for the future, but that was kind of covered by the world so it wouldn’t make sense to include here as well... As usual when I struggle with interpreting a card (as opposed to understanding it but struggling with matching a character to it, like with death or moon) I went to biddy tarot and read all the details about its meaning. What i got was that this card signifies an incoming period of introspection and inner peace following a time of turmoil, as well as a general moving on into a new, better phase of one’s life or finding new meaning and purpose. The figure also suggests someone vulnerable, but possessing a keen sense of intuition as well as a good degree of practicality and common sense. Given all those, I settled for mianmian because IM LOVE HER..... I also kind of see her as a prelude to the “just one person is enough” theme present in tgcf!! And i think her decision to abandon her sect because she saw the toxicity and corruption in it is a very inspiring action - even if it didn’t make a large visible impact, i think the appearance of her and her idyllic family at the very end of the novel - paralleling and mirroring wangxian - implies that at the end of the day, it was a meaningful one 18 the moon Another card i ALWAYS fuxking struggle with - this time less because i can’t grasp its meaning and more because I can never find a character that fits it well. I usually get fixated on the “dreams and subconscious” part, but if i lean more on the “disguise, deceit, anxiety and fear” part, i eventually figured the whole yi city arc wouldn’t be a bad fit. I say the entire arc because it really does encompass all those themes if you include both the past and the present - xue yang’s disguise, his tricks with the villagers, a-qing’s lies and even xxc’s reluctance to talk about his past as well as xue yang pretending to be xxc all fit the disguise and deceit angle, and the general mystery and creepiness of the current timeline yi city work well with the anxiety and fear - the mist, the slow uncovering of the past, even a-qing being revealed to be an ally after scaring the shit out of the protags. I definitely struggled with including all the elements and characters, and even moreso with making them vaguely fit the rider-waite composition, but i think it ended up okay ish. OH and i completely forgot to draw mist swirling around them :( 19 the sun I was considering mianmian’s family for this one, but since I used her for star, I ended up with wwx and his parents instead. Once again I’m reinterpreting the card a bit - normally I think it symbolises incoming times of pure happiness and abundance, as well as a connection with the inner child, but I gave it more of a nostalgic or sentimental twist - wwx looking back at the brief glimpse of his happy childhood. 20 judgement another card that i struggle to interpret a bit... Here i actually used the tgcf tarot zine as a reference! In it judgement is summarised as “rebirth, following duty, absolution” SO i figured that nhs, mxy and wwx all together would fit pretty neatly... wwx achieving (public) absolution through clearing his own name after being reborn, and nhs sort of calling on wwx to expose jgy’s crimes... It’s a bit messy but not bad I think! 21 the world This ties very closely to my read on mdzs as a story - which is that it’s, at the end of the day, largely about cycles, and about how hard it is to break them, but how we gotta keep trying and have hope anyway. Or maybe more precisely, that the people directly involved with and influenced by the trauma of the past might not be able to get over said trauma and that the hope for healing from it will be shouldered by the new generation. Or something like that… Basically what i mean is that jc and wwx and lwj and lxc and nhs and jgy and all these people who were in the thick of the sunshot campaign and the siege are so profoundly affected by it that it genuinely feels by the end of the story like there is little hope for them to ever truly overcome that trauma and build a better future without repeating the same old mistakes - but there is a glimmer of hope in the new generation, specifically in jl and lsz. And it’s a bit paradoxical, because they have also been directly impacted by the past tragedies - lsz having his entire clan wiped out after wwx failed to protect them, jl losing both his parents to wwx’s mistakes - but despite that loss, and despite coming from arguably the two opposing sides of the past conflicts, they are both, in the end, capable of moving past that tragedy, of recognising the complicated nature of those conflicts (jl’s moment of clarity at the end is both heartbreaking and hopeful) and forging friendships between clans in the process. I honestly think that the extra where jl is struggling to assert his authority as sect leader, to treat his subjects well and to cooperate with other sects in a truly amicable way is the single hopeful ending note for the larger themes of the novel - it allows us to imagine that maybe these kids can learn from the mistakes of their elders rather than getting sucked in by resentment at those mistakes, and actually build a brighter future for the cultivation world. And sidenote, this is also why i have a soft spot for jin ling and lan sizhui as a ship... speaking of which their poses were directly referenced from the lovers card ehehe
Looking back, I’d like to add some symbol of jin ling’s trauma so that it mirrors baby wen yuan in the tree stump... maybe his father’s sword?

i have decided i am now going to blow up your inbox bc i csn i’m sorry codi focnnf
b u t!! anyway i’m going to rambling abt my new dad for all au [whixh was the au i sent you that ask abt]
alrighty so all might is now midoriya’s dad. that’s a thing. i like to think that inko and toshinori were high school sweethearts who broke up after graduation but met again when all might was called to recuse some hostages and inko was one of them!! anywho all might recuses her, they go on a coffee date, realize they’re still in love and start again
they get married and have izuku, who keeps inko’s maiden name [midoriya is now inko’s maiden name bc i do what i want]. he’s the cutest baby who has inko’s green hair, but has one blue and one green eye! [these are /important/] inko and all might talk abt maybe giving izuku all for one when he’s older, but they decide against it bc they don’t know if he’ll have a quirk or not
spoiler!! bitch baby has a quirk!! he gets a quirk that’s so much different than inko’s quirk and !!! ahhh!!! the basic explanation is that all might’s all of one genes mixed and then “corrupt” inko’s like 3 generation quirk-having genes or smth and izu has a very, very complex quirk now. it’s called astron, and astron allows him to fucking astral project into the center of the university and shit chxnc
astron works two different ways: using his blue eye he can project other people into his own personal astral plane and do whatever he wants. while the person’s physical body is still where it was, their mind is in the astral plane. if he uses his green eye, he can project himself to his astral plane and fuck around without consequences!!
[there’s an untold third ability of astron using both of his eyes, but izuku tried doing that when he first got his quirk and immediately fell into a coma for like a month? it was bad and his mind couldn’t handle the stress and dipped lol]
ANYWAY, izuku grows up with a bomb ass quirk and still has his kacchan with him thru his childhood so things are a lot different than canon? the wonder duo are little shitheads together and i love them, they wreck havoc and i love them
i have more ideas for this story but this is all i have for now, codi this is so long i’m sorry i’m blowing up ur inbox 🥺😭
Tumblr media
me opening my askbox and seeing the length of this au: holy shit
me reading the actual whole au: HOLY SHIT
AJ I LOVE THIS HIGHKEY!!! I LOVE THE IDEA OF OP DEKU W A FUCKED UP QUIRK JUST TERRIFYING EVERYONE HE COMES ACROSS!!!! heterochromia is SO so good as a character design element and i LOVE THE WAY THIS IS IMPLEMENTED YELLS. I WANNA DRAW THIS SO BAD!!! THIS LOOKS SO COOL
(serious writing/plot below - blood and vomit mention)
oh god and now im imagining deku like. being this extremely feral and annoying lil shit whos extremely powerful and now bakugous got someone on his level so hes a lot more humble as hes growing up but also him and deku are the?? BESTEST OF FRIENDS. and i imagine when bakugou is being a little shit deku just. astral projects him out of his body for a while and apologizes to whoever kacchan yelled at LMFAO---bakugou comes back to his body and is all like “....fucks sake stop doing that”
AND THEN omfgkjfds imagine morally grey deku who does whatever he can to win?? he knew he wouldnt get into UAs hero course fair and square (all might offered him a recommendation but he declined because he wanted to get there on his own with kacchan) because robots didnt have souls he could astral project so he practices his quirks limits like YEARS prior and he tells bakugou about it but never rlly shows him but on the day of the entrance exam?
he shows up. everything goes as normal and he finishes the written exams and then moves on to the practical exam (still seperated from kacchan like in canon) and like. Every one goes dashing forward and deku doesnt really try to beat anyone. He waits until theyre all in the center engaging with robots when he walks to the center of the room.
and he sees the zero pointer in the distance.
“THE ZERO-POINTER’S HERE!” He yells and points at the gigantic mech heading their way. All at once everyone’s heads whip up to catch sight of the robot, enraptured by its sheer size and power.
As they all look to one direction, Deku makes eye contact with them and smiles.
All at once, every single participant in the area goes limp. Astron throws their souls into the astral plane with little fanfare and everyone watches in awe and annoyance as their bodies uselessly crumple to the ground from the outside. The green-haired boy is suddenly given free reigns of the arena and they seethe as one by one he deactivates or disables robots that were once under their purview.
(What some of the smarter ones notice however, is the way he seems to be leaving some stray 3 pointers untouched... almost as if he was doing the calculations in his head as he goes... on how to ensure the number one spot while others can still score points...?)
One by one however, they start struggling and reaching to reconnect with their bodies. Their gleaming bright souls bob up and down with frenzied energy and Deku feels it. He feels it like itches on his skin and goosebumps that turn into hills that dance up and down his back. He feels it like he feels his limit reaching.
Its still around 10 minutes though before he actually loses control and everyone comes back to their bodies. His quirk times out and almost like its angry, the astral plane takes his body in exchange for the dozens he kept in there. He gets sucked through and passes out while everyone else runs and destroys the remaining bots. It doesn’t matter though, because he knows he’s racked up enough points to stay on top. He lets himself rest and observes the blue-haired tall guy with engines who contemplates carrying Deku’s body to safety.
Until, he sees her.
Just under some rubble and very close to getting crushed by the Zero-Pointer’s foot, Deku spots a brown-haired young girl that he recalls has some kind of floating quirk. He sees as everyone runs past her, prioritizing their own safety instead of hers.
He makes a decision.
Quickly--recklessly, a familiar gruff voice says in his ear--he forces himself back into his body and looks around. He runs to the girl and attempts to dig her out from the rubble before she gets crushed. The robot comes ever closer.
Using the little strength and flexibility he’s learnt from years of sparring with Kacchan, Deku abandons her in favor of climbing up the broken concrete and metal to meet the robot’s visor. He knows he won’t save her by digging her out of there, but by god is he gonna let her get injured without a fight. These robots weren’t designed to kill, but they were designed to destroy.
Focus. Focus and listen to what’s around you, Izu-kun.
The world around him reduces to tunnel-vision and suddenly Deku is face to face with the Zero-Pointer. It stops, as if calculating how to discard of Deku without hurting him severely with its own strength.
Everything has life in it. You only need to focus and look for it.
Izuku Midoriya looks at the robot.
In a whirlwind of blue and green, he reaches inside of himself and searches for life. Cold steel and hard-wired code meet his gaze and he plunges even deeper.
Focus.
Then all at once, everything in his visions snaps into sudden clarity, like he’s never seen before. He feels everything. Sees Everything. Smells, tastes, hears--and he hears how the metal beneath him bends and groans. He feels how it winces and shudders. He sees it as it opens its maw and its visor bends in a facsimile of eyes, pleading him as if asking how?
The robot beneath him comes to life and stumbles back.
Quickly, he scrambles to the nearest ledge which happens to be a broken support beam. Distantly, he thinks he feels his arm being sliced open on the edge of it and the warmth of blood streaming down his side as he nearly falls.
“HEY! YOU WITH THE ENGINES!” He hoarsely screams to the still remaining, slack-jawed contestants. “I CAN’T KEEP THE ZERO POINTER DOWN FOR LONG! GO HELP THE GIRL AND TAKE HER TO SAFETY NOW!”
With a sudden burst of energy, the fellow participants start taking others out from the rubble while the blue-haired boy helps the brunette he was protecting earlier. As he watches them clear the rubble to drag her out, he feels a pang.
Who am I? a lost voice calls out. It’s raspy and almost-robotic sounding and only he can hear it. Where am I? What am I?
And Deku’s vision flickers.
In and out, he sees flashes through eyes that aren’t his. He hears voices that are simultaneously faraway and way too close for comfort. The world tugs at the sides of his perspective and a strain is pulling at the back of his head tearing his brain to shreds. He doesn’t know what he’s focusing or straining on, except that its working and keeping the zero-pointer down.
He grits his teeth. “Hurry the hell up! i can’t do this any longer--”
Bursts of pain appear behind his mismatched eyes and he wants to scream so bad and if he were looking any clearer he’d see the way that the zero-pointer thrashes on the ground in time with the pounding on his skull. Bile crawls up the back of his throat and Deku screams.
“SHE’S CLEAR! YOU CAN LET GO NOW, MIDORIYA-SAN.”
Izuku lets go and his vision goes black.

"We're wide awake now, our eyes are wide open" Definition of hero
1a : a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability b : an illustrious warrior c : a person admired for achievements and noble qualities d : one who shows great courage source: Meriam Webster online dictionary
The dictionary definition of a hero paints quite a fantastic picture of an ideal good character, something my players and I have put aside for the PCs, who all have flaws, goals and needs. It makes me really proud everytime someone does something incredible and in-character when we play. But I digress, it's time to introduce the main characters of our journey. In order of appearence and color coded for your benefit: 🟡 Alyssa (the paladin) 🌞 🟠 Joshiro (the monk) ⚓ 🔵 Korinn (the warlock) 🌊 🎀 Nonemi (the artificer) 🔫 🟢 Ozthen (the rogue) 🍀 🟣 Vesper (the bard) 💄 ⚫ Cassius (the warlock) 📚 🔴 Phybble (the (villain) wizard) 🍵 (Not shown) Dakreg (the fighter) 💪 I'll go into detail about their backstories and my thoughts about them in individual posts. For now, I'd like to make a synopsis of the story and a little bit of the process of how I came up with it.
"Have you heard about the Warlock King?" "Shh! Don't call him that, least you'll anger him!" "Alright, how about Shadow King?" -Whispers amoung a Waterdeep tavern crowd It all started in our starting campaing, where our local tabaxi warlock Korinn chose Larloch, the Shadow King to be her patron. This is nothing new of course, he is a popular choice for he is know as an incredibly powerful archmage in the DnD lore, his existence stretching back for centuries, having been a powerful mage in the ancient Netheril empire. Always the naive woman, Korinn made a deal with the lich, and in exchange, she would bring him magical items and offer him interesting subjects for his research. But in her chaotic nature, Korinn chose to defy his orders at the end of Lost Mines of Phandelver, this being the starting point of our next plot, and the birth of our new BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy). Now, for anyone who has read a bit about Larloch, you'll know he's not really "evil" by canon lore, he's a lawful (but still kinda evil, he kills anyone not of interest to him without a second thought, come on) crature, one who wants to be left alone to read and experiment by his lonesome like the nerd he is, he simps for the goddess of magic Mystra (he calls her The Lady, tips fedora) and makes the ocassional ground breaking new magical item / spell of the moment. That said, the wiki gave me a juicy hook to use him as a villain:
"But he was also insane, his mind affected by his extreme age. Sometimes he could be calm and even whimsical. Other times he was crazed, snarling and launching spells at random" -Forgotten Realms Wiki
"Well now, ain't that interesting" thought the me of the past. You're telling me this stupidly powerful being, who is presumed to have planned to every single variant that could occur, Dr Strange style, is a unstable old man? Sweet. So the magical equivalent of an atomic bomb's trigger was being held by this dude, let's just make the small sliver of sanity he has left realize he is loosing himself, that time is running out and he has to secure his legacy, to go out with a boom. But Larloch is not that selfish, he knows whatever plan he comes up with will affect Faerûn as a whole, so why not try to change the continet for good? Start a new era, an age of magic. Sweet lady Mystra, as much as she likes him, would not approve of him messing with her precious Weave of course, so his first step, deal with the meddling (but oh so beautiful) goddess of magic. He would not kill her, as he is no fool, gods can not be slayed (or can they...? Let's put a pin in that as well); so he'll just trap her, sealing her powers and keeping her safe in the safest place he knows, his phylactery. One deceitful invitation later, and with the help of his ol' "pals" Szass Tam, Zulkir of Necromancy and leader of the Thay nation; and the ancient black dragon (I know, he's cannonicaly green, but as I said, this is semi-homebrewed to fit the needs of my table) Vorgansharax, better know as the The Maimed Virulence, Mystra finds herself trapped and helpless at the hand of one of the few mortals she admired. Ain't life funny.
"Wait, so you're telling me a goddess, and not just any goddess, the misstress of fucking magic got trapped and no one noticed?!" Well, not quite dear reader, the other gods of the pantheon of course noticed, particulary god of justice Torm and his fiance (again, homebrewed) goddess of beauty Sune. The latter being the first to realized the absence of her dear friend, who went and told her man something smelled fishy (or dead, considering Larloch's an undead?). Both set out to investigate, and considering not many beings in the realm could be a danger to a god, the trail let to our lich friend quite fast. Torm, being a bit of a hot-head jumped at the chance to teach justice to this creature, while Tyr, the old god of justice begged him to reconsider, to think things through before taking actions. "A mortal capable of making Mystra dissapear is not to be taken lightly my friend" he said to deaf ears.
And so, with Sune helping him, Torm met with quite the surprise. Larloch had prepared for the interferance of other gods, so he ran a little experiment, he knew gods couldn't be killed, but why was that? The church would tell you it's because the gods live on all of us, as long as we believe in them, so even if they were to be struck down, the faith of the believers would bring them back. "The hypothesis is set, it is time to test it". And test it he did. With the raw power of two ancient liches and a black dragon, they were struck down in all of their inmortal arrogance. Larloch tracked the massive magical energies to two mortals in the Material Plane. "Interesting". The gods, after the mess that the Spellplague caused in the mortal's plane, had decided to not pick "champions" to control again it seemed, but still designed "vessels" of high faith and compatibility with their characteristics to recuperate their strenght at a faster rate if something were to happen to them. "So it is true, gods cannot die as long as their faith exist in mortals... Well now, what would happen if we removed this faith? Time for a new experiment. How intriguing". And so, the Shadow King set out to do the impossible, again. I'll tell more about the backstory and start tyring to tie in the PCs in the next posts. it is quite a lot of information, so putting everything together is a bit overwhelming, but so fun. Makes me realize how much work I've put into this. I'm proud of myself, take that depression! Stay tunned, and beware of the shadows 💀 Credit of the Faerûn map goes to Johnovick on Reddit.

Masklophobia: Chapter 5
This chapter is brought to you by The Banana Splits: Sloppy Nights, by Fazie Funbear. (Game can be downloaded for free on Gamejolt)
And Miss Yum-Yum's Canned Human Luncheon Meat. (Processed with the paradise's most elegant seasonings, with no fillers or cereal binders)
Everything that happened on that date, October 17, 1992, was all caught on security footage. Anyone to watch them would probably not retain their sanity. Late at 5:48 AM, the evidently missing Karl Rodriguez snuck into the studio, wearing his King Karl costume. While inside, he commenced with some really unusual mischief. Breaking all the phones he could find in the building, and tampering with the locks on every door, even the windows. After that, he invited all of his "friends" inside. The actors of Karl's Paradise, wearing their costumes.
The actors spoke to Karl, in a language that didn't sound human, or English for that matter. Snarling, gargling, moaning, and growling, that was the talk of zombies. They also sounded like they were woefully ravenous. The Critters went up to Karl, as though they're expecting him to give them something. Possibly food. Karl, getting into his TV show character, calmed them down.
"Now now, my subjects! I can see plain as day that you are all utterly famished! Don't worry, you'll get what you wanted for days. Just have to wait a little teensy bit longer! Remember: Good things come to those who wait!"
He then told the Critters to get into their positions. "Like we rehearsed," Karl mentioned. The day arrived, and Karl was waiting patiently in the office of Andy Matthews, the network executive. Everyone entered the building without any awareness of the doors. Employees, actors, all thinking they were gonna safely go home when the day is done. The only one of the Critters that was out in the open was Barkstone, which everyone called while looking with judgement, "Stevie."
Everyone just passed by while being weirded out. All Barkstone did was casually wave. The only person he gained attention from was the studio producer, who was holding his cellular phone. The man had gotten concerned over "Stevie," wearing his hot sweaty costume, in a studio he no longer works in. When the producer began to ask questions, Barkstone only gestured the producer to follow him.
Dressing room cam: An actress comes in, about to get ready for her next shoot, when suddenly she noticed Saxxo was in her company, playing his saxophone. Funny, whenever Saxxo played his sax on camera, the music would come out of a stereo, played by someone else doing the sax. He really sounded like he was playing the sax. How could he play that thing in that costume, she thought. The actress was quite amused by the act. She already had a boyfriend, but "Drew" really impressed her.
She asked how he did it, but Saxxo spoke not. Instead, he signaled her to sing with him, playing a familiar tune he hoped she understood. Despite the actress thinking she doesn't sing well, she did it anyways for fun. Together, the two made quite a musical duet. She was having such a great time with "Drew" that she completely forgot about the role she was supposed to get dressed for. R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Find out what it means to me! R-E-S-P-E-C-T! take care, TCB! The manager was outside of the room, listening to the whole performance.
Then, just when her mouth was wide opened, trying to hit the high notes, Saxxo dropped his sax, grabbed the actress, and jammed a lollipop prop down her throat. He did it at quick ease so her screams couldn't be heard. There was choking, saliva trickling, blood dripping, and eventually after 30 seconds, complete silence.
The manager knocked on the door, asking the actress if she were alright. Worried, he barged in. Nobody was in the room, but the actress's disturbing choked corpse. The manager dropped down to his knees, and held the body to his so he could examine her pulse. He tried to pull out the lollipop prop. Saxxo came out of hiding. When the manager saw Saxxo's feet, he looked up at the towering mascot before him. Then, the tiger bashed his saxophone against the man's face, hard enough to instanly kill him.
Costume room cam: A page enters the room, to check on the costumes. One in particular caught his eye, and that was the Slouch suit, hanging on the wall. Strange, he said to himself, that wasn't in here before. And it wasn't supposed to be there either. Before Karl left, he took all of his costumes with him, and he was sure he brought along Slouch too. He doesn't know where Karl is, but he might as well take that suit down anyways. When he got closer, he noticed a few things off about the costume.
For one thing, the costume smelled bad. Another thing, he could've sworn he heard faint breathing, outside of the suit, not inside. Lastly, the costume looked as though someone was already wearing it, based on its bulkiness. Curious, the page slowly reached for the mask, to see if anything was inside the costume. Slouch wrapped his arms around the page, in a very tight grasp. It brought the page into a struggle, but he couldn't squirm from the orangutan's strength. He began crying for help, but Slouch shut him up by biting off the top of his head.
Ventilation room cam: Barkstone was boring the producer to death with magic tricks he didn't know how to do. With Barkstone's show being a waste of time, the producer decided to save the questions for later, and get back on schedule. However, Barkstone grabbed the man's cellular phone, placed it in a tiny sack, then tapped on it a few times with his wand. As expected, the phone was in pieces, beyond repair.
"Okay, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS, STEVIE?! Why are you still wearing that stupid costume, why are you doing this nonsense shit, and why are you wasting my goddamn tim-"
But Barkstone had one more trick in mind. The blue dog backed the producer into a box, then locked him in. That made the man angrier, cursing to the top of his lungs. He wasn't angry for long once he saw Barkstone take out a saw. A real saw, and not a plastic one. First the dog pulled a handkerchief from out of his glove, and stuffed it into the man's mouth so his screams become inaudible. He was finally gonna perform a trick he never got a chance to do.
Then, he started sawing through the box, just how an unprofessional magician would do it. The producer's screams were loud, but good thing that hanky deafened them a bit. On the floor spilled sawdust and blood. Eventually, when his saw cut its way through the box, and the screaming stopped. Barkstone then divided the box in half. The entrails, with more pools of blood, poured out. The proud dog took a bow to his imaginary audience.
Lounge cam: Two male crew members were both having coffee, while bonding over small chat. As one of them turned around, Mama LongLegs decended upside down from the ceiling. With stealth, she put her first set of hands on crew member #1's mouth to silence him, and used her second set to give his neck a quick snap. When crew member #2 turned back around, wondering why his pal didn't answer his question, what he found was an unpleasant surprise. His pal lying dead on the floor, with a snapped neck.
Before he could run, Mama LongLegs reappeared, still upside down. One of her six hands grabbed hold of the man's head, to have him facing her. The pink spider delivered a "Shhhhhhh...", then took out a pair of tongs. What did she do with the tongs? Ripped his throat right out of his neck. With another victim down, LongLegs took that throat and ate it whole. After that, she made her exit by crawling into the vent.
Hallway 3 cam: Another male crew member was walking down the hall, talking on his beeper. Fins was hiding in the corner, with a pail of water. When the crew member came by, Fins splashed him with the liquid, then stepped on his beeper. That made the crew member furious, but that was Fins' general idea, as she put her fins over her large mouth and laughed. She also spat on him, hoping to make him mad enough to have him follow her to her trap. For a test, she ran into the men's room. The plan had worked as the man went after "Rebecca" there.
We see from the footage that he entered the men's room with her. Although they were now out of the camera's view, we can only figure out what's happening by the sounds. First we heard angry words from the crew member, then confused words, then splashing noises, then drowning gargle noises. A female crew member heard the commotion, then knocked, asking "What the hell is going on in there?" Fins pulled her inside. Instead of the same noises, we heard violent tears, screams of pain, and before you knew it, blood leaked from under the restroom's gap.
Designer room cam: The art designer rushed into the office, and slammed the door shut. She couldn't lock it, since her lock was still broken, so all she could do was hide. But where? We can clearly tell she's been in a chase, with how heavy she was breathing. When she heard the knob turn, her panicked instincts made her press against the corner wall, where she'd be hidden behind the door once her chaser enters. The chaser invites themself in. It appears that the art designer was set in a wild goose chase.
Van Goose looked left, and she looked right. She saw the woman run into this room, so she's got to be somewhere. She decided to search all around. The art designer remained hidden behind the door, trying to mute her breathing. Van Goose suddenly hesitated, like she were thinking for a moment. And so, the goose walked backwards to where she came in, and took the door as she began to close it very slowly. The art designer poked her head forward, as she felt like it was now safe to come out.
SLAM! These Paradise Critters were more clever than you think. Van Goose just crushed the art designer between the wall, and the door. Her body was now a big splattered mess. She saw the art designer run into this room, so she had to be somewhere. Van Goose made the best of it by taking some blood off with a paintbrush, and painted herself a "cute" little picture on the wall.
Kitchen cam: It seems Yum-Yum was getting ahead of her friends. She had one crew member burning in the oven, another one stuck into a pot of boiling water, and right now she was filleting an actor on the counter. The director walks in and witnessed the horrifying scene. Yum-Yum put down her cleaver and grabbed the woman. The bear looked around the kitchen to find anything useful. She already has something cooking in the oven. There's no room in the boiling pot. Maybe... Nah, the blender and food processor were too small.
Until she spotted the microwave. Microwaves are pretty convenient for cooking instant meals. She opened the door, and forced the director's head inside. Next, she turned on the settings. The director struggled, but failed to make the slightest budge from Yum-Yum's grip. All she could do was scream as the radiation started to effect her head, and then eventually get nuked.
Main stage floor cam: Junior was doing nothing more but riding on the presentation cart, like an average child. Crew members were attempting to stop him, and at the same time avoid him constantly, but Junior refused to listen. Soon, one of them tripped, which gave Junior the opportunity to run straight through his body, three times or four. The woolly mammoth eventually knocked down some crew members on his own, and did the same to them too. The rest then decided to just run away instead of trying to stop Junior, and the mammoth wheeled after them.
The crew members who'd been run over by the cart weren't entirely dead, but rather severely injured. ...really, really badly. Just then, they got finished off as some stage lights fell on their faces. It wasn't from Junior, but a friend who was trying to help out. Slouch the orangutan was up on the power grids, hanging bodies by their intestines.
Control room cam: Finally, we are brought to LabRat. He had one crew member tied to a chair, and another one strapped to a serving cart. To the victim on the chair, he ripped out some wires from the machinery, and electrocuted the man to a crisp. LabRat got electrocuted himself in the process, but it didn't effect him whatsoever. Besides, this is what mad scientists are supposed to do.
To the victim on the serving cart, LabRat started to slip on some gloves, then took out a scalpel. What the giant rat intends to do is dissect the crew member alive. He sliced open the guy's stomach in a single cut. LabRat placed both of his hands inside, feeling at the squishy organs. He pulled out the kidney, the stomach, the spleen, the liver, the pancreas, the large intestines, the small intestines, and last but not least, the beating heart. Just as the crew member was now dead, LabRat licked his gloves clean of the blood.
More and more people became aware of the massacre, and there was nothing they could do about it. They couldn't leave on account of all the doors being locked on the outside. They couldn't contact help on account of all of the phones being destroyed, and the Critters snatched every electronic they had on them. They couldn't kill them on account that they would just heal, either from a mere slash or a stab. Nobody's screams could carry out of Tam, due to the studio's thick walls.
Main entrance cam: Andy arrived into the studio, but as he saw all those fractured, mangled, and slaughtered corpses, he turned back to the door for his quick exit. But the door was locked from the outside, to prevent his escape. He banged his fist against the door, and tried to call for help. Saxxo grabbed the executive by the shoulders, and held onto him. He was just the man they've been waiting for, and they can't do anything until they hear the command from King Karl. The music played to signal him.
🎵Heyyyyyyyyy!
Wouldn't you like to go far away?
To a wonderful place, you say?
Where all your friends are here everyday!
Karl's Paradise is where to stay!🎵
Not very long, all the Critters gathered up to meet Saxxo at the main entrance, and King Karl came out to introduce himself to his old "pal" Andy.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE, KARL?!! WHAT IS THIS?!! HAVE YOU GONE CRAZY?!!"
"Uh uh uh, Andy! The rules of the Paradise states that you must be on your best behavior! That includes watching your profanity!"
"WHY ARE YOU ACTING THIS WAY?! DON'T TELL ME THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH YOUR DAMN SHOW BEING CANCELLED!!"
"Ah, you're a fast learner! You see, as king of the Paradise, it is my duty to make sure all of my subjects are happy, including myself! And when you take away the thing that means so much to me, that makes me unhappy. So, if you're not gonna cooperate in the Paradise, I kindly ask you to leave. Or better yet... ...split!"
Saxxo released Andy's shoulders and grabbed for his arm. Barkstone grabbed the other arm. Van Goose and Fins took his legs. The four Critters started to tug in opposite directions. Andy let out some blood curdling screams. Karl was singing a musical number from his show, "Why Win When You Can Have Fun," as the others danced in place. They made it look like it were a happy time, when it really wasn't. The four Critters kept tugging with all their might, until Andy's limbs ultimately popped off.
Karl stopped singing and announced to his Critters that they shall have a feast to celebrate. Andy's limbless corpse was left to lie there on the floor. He was still alive, but he would eventually die soon from blood drainage. Feeling helpless, all the man could do was weep in pain.
Karl's Paradise was made possible by the unfortunate fools who failed to escape their fate here at the now confined Tam Studios, and viewers like you. Thank you.

why i’m obsessed with daishou suguru: no, it’s not just his biceps
I’m sure that it’s no secret.  We are all well aware that I am completely and utterly head over heels for this man *looks around at my nohebi inspired theme*.  But, I’m sure some, most, if not all, look at Daishou Suguru and his character and say, “Maddi, why?” This is an excellent question and I’m here to give you my maybe excellent answer.  So, to everyone who has ever wondered why I love him as much as I do, here we go:
I have a long track record of falling in love with characters who tend to interest me with motives and their actions, blame the literature fanatic in me.  Of course, there are some that don’t delve as deep, but for the most part, that’s the common denominator of most of the characters that I love; they intrigue me.
Draco Malfoy? Interesting.  I could write an entire novel on why he deserves a lot better and why he isn’t just a complete asshole + a brat.  don’t get me wrong.  he’s both of those things, especially as a child, but i would stand to say that we’re pointing fingers at the wrong person when it comes to draco
Oikawa Tooru?  Amazing.  Brilliant character.  Love him with my whole entire being because he’s just such a beautiful constructed antagonist.  The kind of antagonist that you genuinely struggle to hate and I love that about him.  He’s so goddamned interesting and I adore him
Makoto Tachibana is arrafjfsjioaijosfiojsf so incredible. i love his backstory and his connection to haru how essential he truly is to the story mwah chef’s fucking kiss + back that rivals bokuto’s
but are we here to talk about any of those? n o.
We are here to discuss Daishou Suguru and why he is my everything: from a stance other than the fact that I think he’s pretty.
To put it simply- he’s interesting.  I love the entire Nohebi team because of that reason.  They’re interesting.  Think about Johzenji.  A big reason why they stuck with us, especially Terushima, was because they were something new, something completely different than what we had been used to seeing up until that point.  We had fun watching their game.
But, Nohebi is interesting for a completely different reason.  They are designed to be hated.  Most people who watch Haikyuu!! do develop an attachment to the main teams, so when you meet Nohebi, you immediately want to dislike them due to the fact that there is some attachment to Nekoma.  We see Nohebi through their eyes.  Even the lighting that is used throughout that match screams “BAD GUYS”.  We’ve got the classic Disney villain green thing going on, you know?  And really, up until the end of the Land vs. Air OVAs, there isn’t much that redeems them as a team.  But, at the very end, there’s a really short moment where we get to see them for who they really are, just a group of high school boys.
Tumblr media
This is the first moment where you get to see them as someone other than Nekoma’s rival and that’s where they finally get their chance to touch your heart.
Daishou Suguru is built to be the ultimate antagonist for Kuroo Tetsurou, a character that holds a place in everyone’s heart.  I genuinely cannot think of a single other antagonist that he reminds me of other than Deloris Umbridge.  Not in his actions and I don’t think he wears pink suits (although who knows 👀), but in the fact that he walked on screen and you immediately want to hate him.  It’s even in his character design!  He l i t e r a l l y looks like a snake (the teams being personifications of their mascots is a whole other topic that we could discuss some time).  His eyes are designed with the intent to make you distrust him and it works, doesn’t it?
I can fully admit that he is one of the most morally questionable characters in Haikyuu, which tends to be the main reason that people dislike him.  He is a dirty filthy cheater, that is no lie, but I can’t help but admire him.  Daishou is so incredibly intelligent.  He knows where to poke to make the opposing team to make them lose their cool.  He plays an incredible mental game and that’s so?? interesting?? He is fully aware that he is not the strongest player.  He is lacking in stats and stature.  At only 5′10, he’s not much compared to most of the other players we’ve met through the series.  He only has a power level of 2 and a speed of 3.  He knows that he can’t compete on a physical level with other players, so he plays mentally.  His game sense and technique are both 4/5, and we can even see that when he’s up in the stands at the national games.  He’s constantly talking game sense and he can see what the opposing team is doing and understand why they’re doing it.  You can see that that is what he really loves about volleyball.  He loves the mental and calculating portion of the game and I just think that’s so cool?? Daishou has learned to adapt and use his strengths to be an incredible captain to his team.  Yes, the way he uses those strengths isn’t the best by any means, but I genuinely don’t think any character could pull off what he does.  He thinks so quickly on his feet, but not in the same way that someone like Kageyama does.  He’s predatory and he can see the weakest links in the opposing teams chain and will directly target them.  That goody-two-shoes act? Absolutely infuriating, but smart.  It’s essential for him to be able to pull off what he does on the court and he knows that.
Daishou Suguru is intelligent, calculating, and different.   He is a beautiful antagonist who does exactly what he’s designed to do in such a short amount of time, something that isn’t really seen from any other character that we meet.  When you initially meet him, he genuinely seems to have zero redeeming qualities, but as we see him more and more throughout season four, we start to see him as someone who loves the game and who has just as much passion about volleyball as every other character we’ve met.  We see him humanized through Mika and how he interacts with her, when we see him get all blushy and apologetic about rambling (another topic that I talk about here).
I love him because he’s different, because he is so incredibly built from a literary stance just like every other character that Furudate has given us.  Daishou Suguru is genuinely unlike any other character.
and he has great biceps.

Fun Fact About Me:
I used to be In Love
with Yuki Soma of
Fruits Basket
(And why I still kinda am)
Warnings: Spoilers
When I was 12 a family friend's daughter (whom I idolized for being edgy and cool) showed me my first anime.
2001's Fruit Basket
I can hear the soundtrack now. Mediocre singing to a hopeful tune as English voice actors read their lines into cheap recording equipment. The awkward pacing, character designs, dialogue, plot, should have made for a boring and uneventful show. But there was something, or rather, someone, that caught my eye.
Yuki Soma is a quiet and kind high school student who is well-liked by his peers and is known for his princely charm and handsome appearance. And while I'm sure 12yr old me was attracted to that handsome face:
Tumblr media
(Jesus-fucking-christ why is his head so ROUND)
I was attracted to his kind and gentle personality more. I don't know about you guys but when I was a kid, a kind a gentle boy was rare. And if they let their true nature be known, they were relentlessly bullied. So it was refreshing to a 12yr old girl to see a boy like Yuki to be admired and adored by his peers.
Fast forward 10 years later. Yes, a whole ass decade later and I finally sit down to watch the Fruits Basket Reboot. Initially I was skeptical. Fruits Basket held a speci place in my heart as the first anime I was ever a fan of, the first TV show that encouraged and actively taught me emotional development. And at first I thought the style was a little too modern even, too sleak. But I watched it, and a decade later I found myself reliving an aspect of my childhood in a bizarre new way.
The first thing I noticed, was that I was still absolutely head over heals for the Rat Prince. He was still kind and gentle, but this Yuki was different. He had an underlying depth to him that the old Yuki lacked. His character flaws were evident and real. He was edgy, and even rude at times. He projected a kind persona on the outside, but deep down he was an upset and angry person. Something I really relate to.
Tumblr media
(That and also his new character design. How they kept the WONKY hair.)
Yuki gets so much character development and growth in this show that fed my soul to watch. I always had a soft spot for him, but I never realized how similar my traumas and struggles were to Yuki. For one, I grew up in a very isolated situation where I was emotionally and verbally abused. I was an only-child in a rural location who struggled a with anxiety and depression from an early age. Yuki was raised in an isolated and abusive situation. We watch him struggle with PTSD, and his struggle to make meaningful connections with others as a result. And watching Yuki slowly overcome that at his own pace, made me sob.
It made me realize that I still hadn't come to terms with my PTSD when it came to my situation. That I hadn't let myself work through it and heal. And watching him, the character I adore do that, gave me the strength to work on myself. Watching Yuki not completely solve all his problems by just letting himself be vulnerable again and form connections, but by watching him take the little steps as he learned to care for himself again. To allow himself to love others but also himself again. Was so fucking powerful to me.
Yuki's relationship with Tohru Honda in the 2001 was similar to a Twilight novel. Yuki played a more Edward Cullem-esque role where Kyo played the Jacob, both vaguely pinning for Torhu's almost platonic affections. And the 2001 adaptation was really banking on people being team Yuki or team Kyo and that love triangle. Now while the 2019 version plays around with this idea and teases at it, by season 2 Yuki openly rejects any romantic relationship with Tohru. Admitting that he had thought about it and even initially mistook his feelings for her as romantic. Slowly coming to the realization that he just has mommy issues and she was a motherly figure in his life when he needed one. I love this.
I love that Yuki grows out of his crush for Tohru and fully admits a romantic relationship would never work between them because it just wouldn't be honest. He's just not into her like that, BUT, he genuinely cares for her and cherishes the relationship they do have. Going on to play an almost protective roll for her as her and Kyo's relationship changes. He's often reminding Kyo that he better shape up if he ever wants to be the right partner for Tohru. Because Yuki still wants the best for Tohru and I think that's so precious.
I wish I saw more relationships like this in media. Two straights of the opposite sex having a non-sexual and/or romantic but still genuine and fulfilling relationship. WHAT A FUCKING CONCEPT.
In conclusion: because I'm on drugs and tired, I'm still in love with Yuki Soma. But not in a 12yr old "omg he's so cute." Kind of way. In a, "this is my comfort character I often go back to, to remind me to continue to work and grow on myself." Kind of way lol
So on my bad days I like to remember:
Yuki would want me to grow and heal and love myself. He would be proud of how far Ive come and how far I'll go. And maybe in another 10yrs I'll be 32 and I'll be able to look back on Fruits Basket and be thankful I had it in my life when I did.

How I Would Rewrite DR If I Was In Charge: Trigger Happy Havoc
I’m pretty sure we all know that K/daka is a fucking piece of shit asshole and that he shouldn’t be allowed to have DR, so I, a plus sized pansexual questioning teenage girl of color (something K/daka hates), will rewrite Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc to spite him and save our souls.
The Setting
Let’s start by changing the setting from a high school to a private university because Mukuro was a child soldier??? And that’s gross and insensitive to those who have/had relatives who are child soldiers. So yeah, Hope’s Peak is the top private college in Japan and possibly the world or a faculty and they take students from age 19-20. But if I do want to keep the whole high school aesthetic of it, then I’ll probably change Mukuro’s talent to something like Ultimate Hunter or something.
Supernatural Elements Added To The Lore
When I first got into DR, I thought there were gonna be some supernatural elements to it. There was not, and I am here to fix that. Gods, demons, and magic do exist in my rewritten DR world and Monokuma is one example of it. Monokuma is a demon and servant to the God of Despair Izuru Kamukura while Monomi/Usami is a servant to the Goddess of Hope. There’s also a legend around the two.
It would’ve been really cool if Hagakure could talk to spirits and actually predict certain events, and if Sayaka was actually a psychic so I would incorporate that if I were in charge of remaking Trigger Happy Havoc.
Diversity
When it comes to diversity, DR is not the best with it. So I decided to change that. There are a few characters that are mixed but are still Japanese by blood. The mixed characters are Byakuya (French-Japanese), Mondo (South African-Japanese), Sakura (Samoan-Japanese/African-American), Aoi (Black-Polynesian/Japanese), Toko (Chinese-Japanese), Leon (Scottish-Irish/Japanese) and Junko & Mukuro (African-American/Japanese). I also want diversity when it comes to sexualities and genders and you can look at them here for reference. I don’t just want diversity when it comes to racial backgrounds, sexualities, or genders, I also want diversity among body types. I think Aoi, Toko, Chihiro, and Celestia should be chubby. I think Makoto, Kiyotaka, and Leon should be too and not leave Hifumi in solidarity.
The Designs
The designs of the characters get on my nerves. Like, why are they so BAD?! You got me out here doing redesigns for free and a professional artist can even design the characters to be decent? That’s how you know you’re not good at your job.
If you want to see my redesigns and some of my remastered redesigns (which I will have to remaster AGAIN), here and here and here. Go have fun looking at those. I want the characters to look like their talents or certain aspects of their character. For example, I want Celestia to look like both royalty and a gambler.
Another thing: Why are the characters wearing the same thing every day? Please get them a wardrobe and new clothes.
Character Development
So many characters with wasted potential for character development. I want to give characters better development than in the games. Kyoko becomes more and more emotional over the course of the game, Toko comes out of her shell, Mondo becomes less and less aggressive, Chihiro learns that strength doesn’t affect femininity, etc. I want good and meaningful character moments, I want good development.
Interesting Plot Twists
I did like a few of the plot twists in THH but I think it could’ve been better. Like, one plot twist could be that Celestia is Kiyotaka’s long lost twin sister and he begs Monokuma not to kill her bc he needs to bring her back to her family along with finding the rest of his siblings. I want good shit like that.
Junko Being More Active
I would make Junko a hiding in plain sight kind of character. Like she’s the mastermind but does a good job at playing a character that no one suspects it. I also want Junko to be a master manipulator, causing distrust among the group every little chance she can.
As For The Deaths & Who Survives
Here’s how I would make the death order go:
Chapter 1: Junko fakes its death at the hands of Makoto Naegi and he’s executed, giving the characters some early development. While I did like the Leon and Sayaka thing, I feel as though Junko and Makoto could definitely work for a great chapter 1 death and trial.
Chapter 2: Motivated by the threat of a scandal leaking to the public, Byakuya kills Leon in order to keep his family secret safe. He enlists the help of Toko to help him frame it like it was Sayaka who murdered him. In the end, it fails and Byakuya is executed while Toko is not.
Chapter 3: Hifumi kills Hagakure and Celestia kills Hifumi. During the class trial, the Celestia is Kiyotaka’s twin sister plot twist comes in and it shocks everyone. Celestia is executed despite Kiyotaka and Kyoko’s pleas for Monokuma to not kill her. The death of her lover leads to Kyoko breaking and becoming depressed.
Chapter 4: Both Mukuro and Mondo are revealed to be the traitors and Mondo kills Mukuro in a fake out to make Junko believe she won. Just as Mondo is about to be executed, both Alter Ego and Mukuro come in and saves him, pissing off both Monokuma and Junko. That gives them the hint at who the mastermind is.
Chapter 5: A memorial is held for the deceased characters and everyone starts trying to piece together the past so they can find out what led up the killing game and they eventually find some old tapes and photos of their school life before the Tragedy and the killing game. Mukuro disappears during this chapter for “unknown” reasons and doesn’t come back until chapter 6. During that chapter, Kyoko talks to the Goddess of Hope and learns that Junko is actually her former classmate Ryoko Otonashi and that the God of Despair is using her as a vessel.
Chapter 6: The confrontation between the survivors and the mastermind. Monokuma possesses Junko and Kyoko channels the powers of the Goddess of Hope and purges the evil spirits from Junko and Junko becomes Ryoko Otonashi again. With Ryoko saved, both it and Mukuro plan on serving time for their part in the destruction of the world and Kyoko promises to get them a pardon. Kiyotaka asks the Goddess if there’s anyway she can revive the others. She hits him with sad news that that is beyond her power but to rest assured that their fallen classmates will be watched over by her and her servants.
With despair defeated, the others pack their clothes and food and begin the long journey to rebuilding.
The initial survivors are Kyoko, Sayaka, Mukuro, Chihiro, Mondo, Kiyotaka, Toko, Sakura, and Aoi.
Shoutout to @kyoanime3 for the death ideas. I love you/p
