SEVEN BY JUNGKOOK PT1

Disclaimer: this review is from a shipper's perspective and it's objective is to rebut a few misconceptions about 7.

When I first heard the song was gonna be titled seven, I rolled my eyes- like how many times are these boys going to pander to Army with the whole 0T7 agenda right? Here they with yet another song about how much they love eachother like come on! I love BTS, I do but- I mean yall had the tattoos and the cute meet ups, and heart wrenching sappy goodbyes- isn't that enough why yall gotta make yet another song about your bond and friendship WHYYYYYY yall don't have nothing else to talk about? I thought season two was yall on tour grown grown shit- how is this growth if you singing bout the same thing over and over- right? BOY WAS I WRONG ABOUT THAT!

It's a good thing I didn't come out here to rant about that cos that would have been the biggest embarrassment of my life and I would be eating my words right about now while penning several apology letters to Jungkook- anonymously.

Seven thus, to me, is surprisingly good. Not at all what I had thought the song would be about so when I tell yall I was screaming up and down in my living room surprised and amazed clapping and cheering on as if this was the best thing I ever heard- yall wouldn't even understand.

It is why the first thing I love about the song is the title and how creative it is in as much as it doubles as a play on the word and teases out his connection to Bangtan- say whatever you want but I think that was hella genius and creative and reflects Jungkook's personality for someone who has always been creative in this way from his use of color contrasts in his GCFs to tell a story right down to choosing ABCD as his IG handle.

The MV had Jungkook written all over it- playful, goofy fun yet delightfully hot- it's the memes for me.

It was nice to see him be himself in a music video- nothing felt forced and contrived to me nor seemed out of character and that's what gave the song the flair I think it has. Jungkook pulled this off smoothly.

His acting was spot on- I loved the female character in there (in spite of yall saying they didn't gat chemistry) that's just because she's my type so thank you for that Jungkook. Mean cold emotionally unavailable, physically intimidating- yea no, I'm in love with her not gonna lie🤧

And I don't know what it is but she reminds me of Park Jimin too. And I sorta kinda like Jimin soo🥴

Is it the cheek bone?

Or the neck and shoulders

Either way, she invokes the same feelings I get when I look at Park Jimin- strong alpha female😌 may be it's because they both give off masc/fem androgyny energy and I like that shit- eat it up nom

She played her role very well and helped sell the story.

Those saying they lacked chemistry yall never seen BTS around girls huh cos it doesn't get better than this😩😩😩😩😩

Don't know if yall were expecting them to be flirting and shit- at least this female lead played center I'm still trying to find the female lead in JMs MV😭🤣🤣

I'm actually surprised how good Jungkook's acting turned out in this MV. Whatever they were doing in the restaurant- I'm sold.

And I know alot of people aren't too enthused by the plot of the MV- a young man hopelessly in love with their partner to the point of clinginess and obsession- look, may be if I were looking at this concept from an outside in perspective I would find issues there with that narrative too but as some one who has been following these men almost through out their music career and have had the privilege of consuming content beyond the music they do- I kinda find it hilarious 😂

Hilarious because it's everything fans, and BTS accuse Kook of- it's giving me war flashbacks to the perila leaf conversation they had, to all the times he and Jimin have been caught sneaking into each other's hotel rooms because CLINGY, to Jimin complaining he comes into his room at 1am just to sit on the bed and do nothing, to all the theories about Kook being the clingy one in Jikook- hate to say I told ya😆

It's almost as if he's saying we'll folks yall are not wrong I kinda is clingy and I'm not ashamed🤣🤣🤣🤣

He's a hopeless romantic and he hasn't made that a secret at all. To me, what this is is he's owning the narrative- that is if this was a conscious decision and artistic choice by him.

I had to look up the director of the MV and this is the first time in my life I've genuinely cared about the director behind any project for that matter cos how much of a coincidence is this to cast characters who complement each other so well and craft a narrative which is not a narrative at all!

Their website says they blend "youth and pop culture with high concept storytelling." Well they pulled that off. The plot is simple and easy to follow and reflects pop culture. I wouldn't say this is exactly ground breaking though, because it's been done over and over again- but I think Jungkook rejuvenated the concept by adding his own take and personality to it. It was done well and I must give him high praise for this.

If you are a fan of pop culture and pop music this is consumable as fuck. The song is really catchy. And that's just the thing, there is a market for this genre of music whether you like it or not and he doesn't have to cater to everyone's taste all at once. However to me, this is a step in the right direction for his career especially if he is to position himself as a global artist.

People may know BTS but not everyone knows Jeon Jungkook and this right here is him carving a niche out for himself. He is not trying to ride on the success of BTS. He is not trying to be the solo version of BTS. He is trying to be JEON JUNGKOOK.

His music is gonna play in every teens living room, every adults bedroom, in the club on the streets- he's reaching places even BTS struggled to reach and that's the power of his brand.

He's making waves and he's only just begun. And it's about damn time too!

I don't have much to say about Latto other than give that bae some grammy just for the titties😩 the explicit version of the song makes so much sense why she was so freakylicious up on a BTS song😭😭😭😭

First I was like gurl what? Slurp what??? Then I heard the fucking you right version- I said carry on. My mistake chilee. Jungkook ma n*ga you wild.

It's refreshing to see him step into his power and own his image and his brand and control the narratives- if not capitalize on them.

Overall I think this was a great pop song and Jungkook carried it so well. He's gonna go places. It's high from here and nothing less.

While on the subject, let me address some of the remarks people have been making about the song. To anyone complaining this is yet another pop song- with all due respect, he is not Beethoven he is not an Opera singer he is a freakn pop artist 😩

If yall are tired of pop music just say so and go but don't come for a pop artist doing what a pop artist is supposed to do- and don't let a lie slip out of your mouth it's a great pop song that bops. Seven freakn days a week.

No other kpop artist have come this close to breaking into a western market much less come this close to dominating it. And to some of us, this has always been the dream. I have spent so many sleepless nights meditating and praying for BTS particularly Jikook to gain a strong foothold in the western music market, beyond Korea and Asia and when finally they are making attempts and moves towards that goal yall want to tear him down- fuck yall opps HE IS FREE BITCH.

At this point I really don't care whether people like the song or not because we have moved past that stage where their in their progress in their career was contingent on people liking their shit. How are you gonna like a song if you've never even heard it? Now more than ever, what's important is reaching as many listeners as possible and to that end I think they are all on a right truck.

Jungkook is out to make a name for himself and solidify himself as one of the top pop artist in the world and I don't think his language or country should hold him back- asking him to stick to Korean songs is holding him back from his full potential. Faulting him for for branching out and reaching for the stars is equally holding him back and putting him in a box- well burn that box would you.

I really hope seven is the first of many English pop songs he will make because we want to see more of him, all of him and especially what he can contribute to the genre he dabbles in. His best is yet to come.

And for those complaining seven is nothing new- understand IT IS NEW FOR JUNGKOOK. It is new for many of us who are seeing him do this for the FIRST TIME AS A SOLO ARTIST.

His English keeps improving with each new song, his delivery gets better and better- yall just leave him alone please and thank you.

My final thoughts, as the main vocalist of BTS HE SURELY LIVED UP TO HIS REPUTATION WITH SEVEN. HIS PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING, COSTUME LOOKED GREAT, SET WAS FANTASTIC AND HIS VOCALS WAS FLAWLESS.

If this is the start we are off to a good start.

The MV to me gave him opportunity to showcase more of his goofy personality, to show people he really doesn't take himself too seriously and has a great sense of humor.

As a performer he nailed his role. Definitely understood the assignment. And it's a good thing they casted a strong female lead cos them damsels in distress be getting on my nerves.

Do we need more of this? Yes AND YESS AND HELL YES!!!!

Between Jimin's Angel and this, you guys have no idea how excited I am for their journey. I want to see more collabs, I want to see them take more risks and build their individual brands.

Jungkook should definitely consider acting. A cameo in a popular American series wouldn't hurt his career.

In fact, the entire maknae line should.

Gravity Falls Headcanon: Sign of Affection

Has anyone seen the 2014 film 'This Is Where I Leave You'?

A fantastic film with an unexpected twist in my opinion. However, I'm not here to say my thoughts on a cute comedy-drama film.

I'm here because of one aspect of the film's story that I find endearing for some odd reason. And it involves the father of the four siblings in the movie.

Some minor spoilers for the movie, I guess.

According to one of the brothers, their father's intimate fatherly gesture towards his children was never a kiss to the forehead. Rather it's him pressing his forehead against theirs.

I remember thinking how sweet this is, especially when we get another scene of this of their father comforting his son after he got hurt riding his bike. I guess what makes this more special is that it provides eye contact or something like that.

Now...what does this have to do with a Gravity Falls Headcanon? Do I think Filbrick Pines did this to his sons? ...Ha! Hell no!

Rather, I think it's Shermie. And, yes, I'm on the side of Shermie being older than the Stans and that the baby in the flashback was his son. Made better sense age wise.

Anyways, due to their father being...less than stellar as a paternal figure, I can imagine that Shermie took on the helm of a positive paternal figure towards them, despite whatever age difference there is (I'm guessing at least five years older).

Shermie's intimate gesture towards his family is that forehead to forehead gesture. He did this towards his brothers, he did this towards his son, and he did this towards his grandchildren.

And the others do pick up this habit. Shermie's son would do this to his twin children, Dipper and Mabel, and they would do the same to each other. Stan and Ford would start doing this to each other, especially after Shermie moved out. The Grunkles would then use that gesture towards their niblings.

And, yes, Stan has done it towards Soos too.

Laying down with a book in my hands Y/N reaches for her record player to stop the music playing

“dammit,I really love Bowie”

She mutters to herself as she walks to the door watching the street lights through the window

she takes a glimpse of the peephole and a boy with a bowl cut hair and huge jacket is all she see’s

“hmm…weird”

slowly opening the door

she is now face to face to some thick eyebrows and the bluest eyes she has ever seen in her life

“hello there…do you need something?” she asks with a worried look while leaning against the wall

“ello.. I dunno if your remember me but we met in my gig here in San Francisco a couple o’ weeks ago,we even talked for a bit…” the unique looking boy answers and takes a deep breath

“oh yea,I remember you,you’re Liam right?the lead singer of that band” excitement fills the girls voice as flashbacks from weeks ago came back immediately

“That’s me,you got it” he says with the same tone as her with a grin on his lips

“well,what can I do for yo-“quickly interrupting herself she proceeds asking “aren’t you supposed to be in Los Angeles at this very moment?”

“Yea…”he scratches the back of his head answering right after “I was supposed to be there,a few things happened…can I come in?my legs are killing me”

“come in come in,make yourself at home” she opens the door while moving her hand in welcoming movement,finally letting the strange good looking boy come in” soo,why do I own your incredible appearance at my house?/the boy scans her figure and takes his shoes as he walks into the living room

“me and r’kid had a huge fight over a silly situation and I really needed to get out of that environment”they walk slowly in direction of the stuffy blueish sofa with liam following right behind her,he couldn’t help but notice the girls bum and her shiny hai-“Liam stop it!If she catches you she’s gonna think you’re a weirdo” a voice in his head says

“it’s good to escape sometimes but I can feel from your energy that it’s not something temporary,I get the feeling that you’re gonna leave the band?are you going to?what about live forever?oh no I can’t let that happen you guys are so goo-“

“no no no,my brother is an asshole but I don’t hate him that much to end something that is really important to me”he interrupts the girl that had a freaked out expression seconds ago

“oh,that’s good..but why did you come here?”she moves herself a little closer to the boy on the sofa,almost touching his leg and analyzes his beautiful face features

“cause you’re the only person I could come to that no one would know where I went”

Y/N thought it was cute,a bit creepy,but overall cute that the boy had remembered due to the fact that both of them were pretty intoxicated when they met for the first time and she wouldn’t except him to think of her in that situation

“that’s okay,would you like some water,tea,coffee…?”

“I would love some tea,do you have some milk?”

“why milk?”

“to mix with the tea darling” she couldn’t lie and say that chills didn’t go trough her spine when he said the last word

“tea with milk?are you crazy?you British people are weird man!” she exclaims

“NO WE’RE NOT!you guys are” and they kept discussing their different cultural traditions along with some other topics

the night had quickly become day and they hadn’t stopped talking for a second

the sun was rising in the horizon and the girl noticed as the natural light started to creep through her window

“c’mon,we have to see the sun rise”

Liam silently agrees,the boy has never met a girl as unique as Y/N and was absolutely loving the previous night that they shared with laughs and a bunch of talking

they walk to the girls porch,sitting next to each other, the only sound they hear is birds chipping and people walking quietly to their offices

the girl felt so blessed she had a job she loved and didn’t demand 100% of her time

she works in a small record store just down the street owned by her amazing dad,probably that’s why she has many vinyl records on her bedroom

of course Liam noticed them and the night before that was one of the main topics they talked about

while watching the sun the girl rests her head in Liam’s shoulder taking some time to really study his beautiful face

his eyes,his eyelashes,his thick eyebrows,his nose,his lips and his cheekbones

he was truly beautiful,one of the prettiest boys she had ever seen and she couldn’t pull her eye away of him

liam feel her eyes burning on his skin and he also faces the girl

“what?do I have something on me face?”

he asks,scared that after eating the pot noodles yesterday,some of the soup was still around his lips

“there’s nothing on your face,it’s that”…she takes a pause “you are really beautiful”

the boy was awe

of course he knew he wasn’t a bad looking guy but receiving a compliment from a girl like Y/N who is super close to his face and staring him intensity is new to him

“thank you,you are not so bad yourself” her cheeks are now burning red as she unties her ponytail so hair falls in front of her face and hides her redness

the sun light makes liam eyes brighter and again the girl is hypnotized by them

their faces are getting closer

and their breathing is also getting shakier

finally their lips are touching

the softness of y/n’s lips and a light taste of peppermint mix perfectly with the roughness of his and the taste of cigarettes

they are both moving in sync in every way possible

it feels like even their soul is connected through their lips

liam’s hand squeezes her hips and the other is caressing her hair

after seconds that truly felt like minutes they pull away with y/n giving small pecks on his lips

“that was…wow” both of them are speechless and a comfortable silence stables and (this time) Liam is the one the lean into the girl’s shoulder

the comfortable silence is interrupted by the sound of lighting and the weather quickly changes

!!TOH FINALE SPOILERS!!

A small one, but still go and watch it it's soo good

Honestly, I think the finale was great. Amazing animation, voice acting was fantastic, ending was sooo cute, Kings dad is the best "boi", all characters have those gorgeous expression. Even fact it was a little bit to rushed, because tfu-tfu- Disney's politics and I won't forgive them this mistake, doesn't bothered me at all and whole story was entertaining, engrossing and smooth. My only two issues were lack of personal/deeper backstory of Philip and Collector's arch ending.

While in the first one there is nothing to do about it, just not enough time for the flashbacks. Even with King's dad possibility of using cubes to show it, just animators and Dana couldn't put it in 55 minutes of very condensed episod with a lot of archs to finish.

The Collector's arch could work out well, if it was a possibility of adding one maybe two sentences. Whole issue in their arch is that they go back to the stars(supposing to the Archivists) and them being "alone" again(my opinion). What they was learning during this episode was how to be kind and forgive others. And I didn't noticed anybody in entire show who could be reason for Collector's not-forgiving trait/did something to Collector and they feel angry with so badly they can't forgive them besides their siblings, who betrayed Collector in the past. So probably this part of their lesson was inclined to their relationship with own kind. We saw Collector being scared, mad and sad with the Archivists actions and lies, but only this. It doesn't give any information about their relationship, only about one very specific situation. If in Collector's short retrospection about their past was sentence like: "I loved my siblings, they always played with me games I chose and cared about me, but they lied to me and used me(rest of their story) " whole ending would make sense. They learnt with Luz, King and Eda about forgiving others, even when they did something horrible. It would make Collector rethinks their relationship with the Archivists and chooses to try work things out with them - going back to the stars. And when Collector would be with their family, they could learn them about mortality(maybe all collectors don't understand idea of dying and that's why they just do collecting in such a nasty way and uses force when sb doesn't obey them - how could they know they can't regain someone's personality(a lofe of the brain) after the death, if they didn't experience it or can recreate, but only in own specie) and kindness. It all would make sense and erase both loneliness issue and going back to the stars issue. Honestly I wanted sth like this as the Collector's arch end, but yeah just one more sentence and it would be perfect for me.

This comment is not meant to blame Dana, animators, storyboarders or anybody from The Owl House crew that they did something wrong. As I said before not their fault, that Disney "stabbed them in the backs" and forces them to condense such a great and complex story in such a small amount of time. I just feel a little bit dissatisfied with this two arch and this is my idea to make them satisfying, if I had anything to say. But I don't.

I'm glad with what I've got and really appreciate impact of the owl house on media and me💛

Can we just appreciate that Nari’s second Lavender Clouds' first comment was soo long and unhinged that they had to put it in two comments?

Mild disclaimer Nari references chapter 11 which is no longer chapter 11 since the rewrite. Ignore the numbers here.

Kisame [...] did such a number on me I couldn't possibly predict he would become the family's official favorite uncle, and yet (and yet I got another ship, even though I already have so many. Hinata's harem keeps getting bigger)

You and me both. T-T KisaHina might be one of my favorites that came out of Lavender Clouds and they were very much not romantic here. I just love their soft dynamic so damn much.

I absolutelly love how Hinata can be such a mom to these grown ass terrorists.

She really is. I think the best thing is it’s not even out of character for her. She is trying to do her job which is caring for them and there is no other way for her to do it. She isn’t going to threaten them, she is going to scold them.

Also: Itachi respecting her, Hinata feeling proud of herself because of him, Kisame letting her do her thing. The three of them were my favorites from the start, right up until the end. [...] The three of them were just so comfortable to have around, and it felt like such a huge thing when they weren't there all the time anymore.

I need to write so much more of this dynamic of the three of them because I love it so much. Kisame being a protective big brother to Hinata, except when she is mothering him when he is hurt or she is feeding him. Itachi and Hinata being soft and understanding of each other. Itachi and Kisame leveling on being concerned about Hinata. GAH! I need to write more of the three of them.

I think you are really talented writing comfort stuff, because when you make your characters care for each other you make us readers care for them in return, and the hardest thing in writing a good story (to me, at least) is to make characters human enough and to give - or reproduce - their personalities well enough, and you can do that so nicely, even when they get a little out of character you can still pull that off because you give them humanity and reason to do so.

Not the best compliment being dropped in the middle of a paragraph like it’s going to make my entire heart melt less. I am going to go die happy now, thank you. T-T

“You’re a regular housewife.” SO? SHE'S KEEPING YOU ALIVE, DIPSHIT. [...] It's really cute how Kisame went from "I don't trust you, I will end you" to "You're useful" to "I would die for you" so quickly, the three stages of adopting a missing-nin.

Well after making me cry we are back to the chaos. I love Kisame’s teasing.

Kisame is the dad who says ‘we are not keeping the dog’ and ends up the one bonded with it.

Hidan mocking Hinata when he first showed up is just so funny to me, not only because he will have his ass handed to him, but because he also becomes an uncle. Fuck you, Hidan.

Hidan and Hinata’s relationship is wonderful because I think Hidan brings pain-in-the-ass big brother energy and Hinata gets to actually have some fun with him when he’s around, and she’s not sewing his limbs back on.

Do you know that feeling when amazing fictional locations are destroyed? That feeling of hopelessness, even though the places do not exist, but the memories in there are just as strong as if they're real? I feel that a lot, because I think the memories are what build a home. Hinata's little cottage was a home, as well as a bribe, and everyone had a good time in there. It's so bittersweet. I think her house was a character just as any other, because it had a personality and served a purpose just like any other. Seeing it again and knowing they will need to move on eventually hits really hard.

Ugh T-T Destroying the cottage gave me retiring the Going Merry flashbacks.

Anyway, Akatsuki could totally be a real state agency, it seems.

Head cannon request: Do you think the Akatsuki owned it before asking Hinata to join or bought it to bribe Hinata after the found out she was available? O.O?

I love it when Hinata is missing having people around and thinks "hey maybe I shouldn't be emotionally dependent on criminals" and then she gets emotionally dependent on them anyway.

‘Maybe I shouldn’t become emotionally dependent on the men who keep coming back with their organs falling out and limbs missing possibly due to people I knew and loved there is no way that can end well.’

Oh yeah, I meant to ask you something when I first read. The books Pein gave her for her research were previously owned by Tobi? He talks about his later on, about the research being compromised. I thought the icky feeling she had was because the books were owned by Orochimaru, since he is a fucked up psychopath who was part of Akatsuki before.

So all the research is collected by Tobi. Some of what he tells Hinata is lies that’s why that might not be clear, but he does say to Hinata (in their final conversation) that he collected all her research. Most of the research pre-dates Orochimaru, but some of it may have come from him without him signing his name.

Thank you for introducing the art of killing people by Hinata's pretty hands too, it gave me life and joy and happiness and I twirled my hair and giggled a lot :D

I never did come up with a name for the technique because I refuse to call it ‘violent fist’ like my husband suggested. -.-

I think Sasori was just so fucking confused. I also think it's funny how what made it for him, regarding Hinata, was pretty much what did it for Gaara in [Lavender Sand]: being treated gently not because she was wary of them, but because she saw them as deserving of it as any other person. She saw both of them as people and treated them as such, and it really did a number on them. Funny, considering how Gaara and Sasori behave about each other in here.

Hinata basically wins over everyone like this, just seeing people for who they are and treating them like they are people. Gaara and Sasori both suffer from the emotional damage of falling in love with the woman they can’t be with who treated them like human beings for the first time. T-T

You said it was rough to not make Sasohina and, well... yeah. It was hard on me too because how dare you make Sasori such a complex and interest character, the travesty. The travesty in giving him something he could only long for and never truly have because he isn't like the other men around. He kind of had her, and he decided to stay even though it hurt emotionally, because in the end having something bittersweet was better than having nothing at all after all the love and care. It really hurt because you made them care for each other so much, in Hinata learning about him and how to help him (as she did to everyone) and him taking care of her in his own way. I never expected Sasori in here. I never expected him to be a possibility.

I have admitted this a few times. If I were to write Lavender Clouds today, it would have been SasoHina because they just had so much chemistry, and it would have been perfect to have her go with one half of the love triangle between her, Gaara, and Sasori.

I need to write another fic with them because I just love their dynamic so much, one of them always teaching the other something. (Maybe another GaaHinaSaso because I love to make myself feel pain.)

Sasori trying to be an authority and getting beaten down by Hinata’s reasoning. Sasori gives up so early to not express his affection because he knows he’s no longer human and believes he can’t offer her a normal relationship, but the biggest tragedy is that if Hinata had known this probably would have ended SasoHina because Hinata would not care about him not being human or his true age.

"Deidara acted like a civilian teenager, flirting, rebelling, and throwing tantrums, especially when she told him how long she would keep him. No one in the Akatsuki had any patience at all. He was also rather sweet, passionate, and funny." And it fucks me from behind. This Barbie son of a whore was so suicidal and loathed himself so much it became narcissism. It seems like with Deidara, in canon, he never felt like he was enough to a point where he just wanted to be remembered when he died. You gave him a reason to stay, you got him coming back too. Being alive might not have worked in the long run, but at least to me, it felt like you respected him and did him some justice. I'm thankful to you for being good to him. I cried a lot about him.

God damn it Nari ‘This Barbie son of a whore’ had me rolling.

Deidara and Hinata probably had the least interaction (until he came back, if you know, you know) but they were cute, and he was excited to come home and have someone like his work and appreciate his birds. He was remembered, he can be sure of that.

To be honest I cried very often. I cried every 3 chapters, I think.

I am not sure if I just personally hit you in the emotions, or if you just cry a lot and after knowing you for a while I am still not sure XD

This is about all of the "what could have been". I'm totally unhealthy about how much out of time Hinata was in here. Out of time with her loved ones, never reaching when she could, never having enough time with them. She lost Naruto before even having him, she lost the possibility of Gaara, she lost Itachi when he was within reach, she lost Sasori to things that weren't their fault and happened before her time. It kills me, it fucking obliterates me, that her time was made of missing chunks of things that never came to be, of flowers that never grew, of impossible possibilities. I thought she didn't have as much chemistry with Sasuke as she had with her other possibilities, but what made it truly work for them imo was that Sasuke was just there at the right time. He stayed. Even when they thought they'd lost each other they didn't because they were in the right time, for once, and they didn't want to let it go.

I think this is the true secret to the final ship of this story. Hinata knew that her and Gaara would never last. Itachi never gave her a chance to think of him that way because he knew he would break her heart. Sasori kept quiet because he knew he wasn’t human. Hinata had given up on love and would have really taken anything and Sasuke was consistent and was waiting for her when she got back.

A lot of IRL relationships are like this. Think of all the people you may have missed just because of the timing or the missing the person you are with now because you didn’t take the chance or didn’t show up to that event.

Diving into the second message, buckle up.

I went back to ffnet yesterday after leaving the second comment because I wanted to give Lavender Umbrella a chance and it made me realize stuff and I'm totally going insane.

You created your own little world inside your stories, you have the characters humanity and you gave them things to enjoy and care about, and you worked those things in your other works. Gaara and his thing about hugging Hinata and hiding in her tummy in Lavender Sand, Kisame enjoying the cooking and being taken care of in Lavender Umbrella, Itachi in Testing Success being a stable source of comfort and tranquility even in his worst moments, Sasuke being weirdly good with kids and having a good head on his shoulders when it comes to help Hinata because he cares about her and doesn't expect shit in return in What He Left Behind. It is too soon to analyze Death Wishes and I haven't read Wheels and Lavender Memories yet, but you are solid with your description of their core traits and it is so nice.

Let me die happy right here with the best compliments ever.

A personal love I have with writing fan fiction is I can pluck a character or character dynamics out of one story and plop it into another situation, and it makes a whole new story.

Kisame and Hinata’s absolute tooth-rotting fluff of their need to take care of each other.

Gaara not understanding but desperately wanting to take Hinata’s comfort and affection.

Itachi constantly being bitch with a plan that causes problems for everyone and him not backing down on it.

Sasuke calm when Hinata is panicking or spiraling and Hinata’s calm when Sasuke is being erratic or angry.

(And now since it came out but they weren’t at the time of this comment) Hidan being loosely respectful of Hinata’s authority because he either feels like he needs her (medic) or because he doesn’t want to lose the one person who treats him nicely (which is most of the reason most of my pairings happen).

Btw, stop killing Itachi.

Hey… I technically, I have only killed him once if you count Death Wishes as him not being dead. There are several stories set after his death (because of where the story falls in cannon) but I don’t think that counts. I think I plenty of room to kill more. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think he was already dead in the moment he resigned to it, to be honest. And I think Hinata knew that too.

Is accepting that you are going to die part of death itself - and other spooky thoughts I probably shouldn’t be asking myself.

There were several moments I think he wanted to kiss her [...] I think it was the moment it hit Itachi how much he trusted her.

This is interesting to me, I would love know when these moments are. Lets talk I want all the head cannons.

He was also with a foot in the grave and still went for the base with Hidan for her, I will KILL ALL OF THE WINDOWS IN THE WORLD-

C-drama recommendation (part 2)

Helloo! I’m back with another post about how Chinese drama stole my heart. I randomly watched my favorite c-drama of all time: falling into your smile for the nth time. followed by reading fanfics in Ao3 because I just couldn’t get enough of it. I just feel I want more, more fluff and love.

soo I looked for another title I can binge watch (whilst I’m depressed because of my thesis lmao, procrastinating FTW)

1. Go Go Squid! (2019)

the story is about a girl, Tong nian, (genius, written in the official synopsis, but not really portrayed well in the drama) who fell in love with cool, hot-looking, older guy, Han, who happened to be famous. (It’s so lame how the girl just blindly followed the guy and not do her research first. I almost died from second embarrassment in the earlier episodes.) they started fake dating, and date for real.

what I love

the guy is hot, the K&K members also hot. (WUBAI my love)

the topic CTF looks fun and anti-mainstream

how tsundere Han is

the friendship portrayed nicely

how the drama literally focuses on the hugs, pats, (kisses in the latter episode), first kiss done abruptly which is so cute and real

10-year difference - kinda hot

the other characters are impactful

the misunderstandings in the earlier episodes are so funny

THE KISSES ARE SUPER HOT (cdrama classics)

What I hate

CTF looks fun, it’s shame that the competition just so fast, suddenly winning.

the flashbacks are so damn long

How Han is just so childish and mad all of the time

I just hope the awkward Han shown longer than the loving Han, because I felt it would portray Han’s character more (I know love can change people, but I hope for some dramatic and gradual changes)

I would rate 7,5/10.

I’d recommend but I don’t think I will watch it again when I’m bored

2. Go Go Squid 2: Dt. Appledog’s time (2021)

it’s like a spinoff of the first season, maybe you can say it’s in different universe. The story tells about the man, Wubai, who fell in love with Aiqing and joined robotics because of her (as she’s like goddess in robotics). she eventually fell in love when she met him for a competition. but suddenly Wubai gone missing.

this story is like Fluff, mutual pining, slow burn in one.

What I love

the main characters Wu bai and Ai qing are so damn beautiful

robotics looks fun, they showed the robotic combat very nicely

THE FLUFF oh my god. my heart was beating so fast, I screamed silently everytime they interact. SO FLUFFY I WANNA DIE

mutual pining and slowburn, it’s just like I want to push both of them together.

I love how he respect and care about her, his dedication to love and pursue her, portrayed beautifully in the drama.

just LOVE how he announce his love, especially the one when he changed the name of the competition for her, and how he showed everyone who were against of their relationship that he fell deeply in love with her and inspired him for 10 years by telling people what DT stands for

THEIR LOVING GAZES for each other like the world in only theirs

The pre-ending scenes in most of the episode, are so beautiful. they show how the progress of their love

It’s funnier than the first season.

how mature the couple is. no major misunderstanding.

IT REALLY SHOWS HOW PURE THEIR LOVE

THE KISSES OMG

it didn’t focus on the friendship, just their love, second couple’s love, with a some of robotics

What I hate

some of the other characters are not impactful. the face, and the acting are just meh

the head count for the K&K team is annoying (because they want to include Han, but he rarely showed up in the drama)

the settings look like studio

I would rate 9/10 because of the beautiful love story. nice plot. although cliche love story (but I just love it). (I’m just hopeless romantic)

This drama made me questioned myself, “where can I find someone like Wu bai?” he’s so pretty and unreal, and how he loves her so deeply made me drool in envy.

definitely recommend, and definitely watch it again whenever I want to watch some lovey dovey, fluffy, romance

That’s all for now. I must stop watching because I have to study lmao. C-dramas are so underrated while they have interesting plots and hot kisses. But I also hate how they have like 30++ episodes. it’s tiring and addicting to watch at the same time.

Ok, so I just reat all of this series and I am absolutely in love with it, just phenomenal, outstanding, love the cute expressions of Yuuta cause they remind me of Gege's and everything! The thing with Gojo is that he was in a really weird mental state at the time, so I genuinely think it wouldn’t be too much of a reach to say someone falling from the sky would stun him enough that he wouldn’t react that much when Toji goes “I don’t work for free” and leaves

There’s also the fact that Amanai’s body was still inside the cult building, and Toji wasn’t blocking the way anymore. So Gojo would have to make a choice there, to insist on fighting ? Or to hurry to get Amanai back ?

That might also slow his reaction time, and by the time he’s decided what to do, Toji might have already cleared the scene

Basically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I understand your doubts, but it is a weird situation, so weird reactions aren’t that out of the question

And yeah, the flashback/nightmare was ! So much fun to draw ! I’m really enjoying the variety of scenes this series allows me to do, the cute faces and the backgrounds (even if I curse their existence every time) and the downright body-horror-style gore of jjk’s curse techniques, and everything in-between. It’s really nice to get to like, flex almost all of my drawing muscles in one single project (❁´◡`❁)

And you’re right, I don’t mean for Yuuta’s past to be entirely clear, not now... and maybe not ever

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re wondering about the details of what exactly happened, but to me this story is more about the impact of these events than on their exact circumstances. I doubt Yuuta would even be able to recall all of it himself, not precisely

Because that’s how traumatic events work, you know ? If the trauma comes from a single event, like a car accident, you might remember almost everything clearly, but when it takes place over weeks, or months, or years... You end up mixing things up, forgetting details, forgetting the order of events, forgetting something even happened until you come into a very specific situation and you go “oh”

Not that Yuuta spent literal years in this specific traumatic situation, but it definitely wasn’t a single event. The fact that he is now 18 (as mentioned by Shi-woo) is a hint to that fact, since Gojo was sealed on October 31st, 2018, and Yuuta’s birthday is in March. That’s a few months, and a lot of time for things to happen, even if what exactly took place, in what order, and how, isn’t completely clear

Anyway, sorry for rambling ! Thank you so much for your kind words, and I hope you’ll like what I have in store for the future !

SPOILERS Version 2.7 Archon? Event? Quest

Warning: Much cursing, long mindless rant, and SPOILERS just scroll past nothing to see here

First, I am so fucking upset that I had to play this quest on mobile. Especially with the fact that it has so much Xiao/Yaksha lore in it. Disappointing really.

But anyway, tbh I wasn't all that interested in the first few parts of the quest. Then we get to the second half of the quest and I am living for it. And maybe it's because of Xiao.

I did enjoy the domains. The puzzles are pretty good. And the challenges I would have loved more if I was not using mobile.

The last two cutscenes were so fucking amazing. It just sucked that I have to watch them in mobile! Dammit! I was losing it when it showed Xiao talking to Zhongli on the balcony of Wangshu Inn then man's suddenly attempts to sacrifice himself but Zhongli pulls through and saves him. The relief I felt when I saw him being saved. Holy fucking shit! Then the Boyang-Bosacius cutscene being so damn bittersweet! I loved that so much! Seeing him like forgetting and shit was so sad then he gets this flashes of memories of the Yakshas and Rex Lapis just hanging out and his name being called. Fucks sake! Felt so bittersweet! I loved that so much!

About the characters. For me, the new ones were okay I guess. Well, Yelan is one epic badass. She's such a girl boss and so hot as well but Xiao for me took most of the spotlight especially at the end of the quest. Yelan is cool and all but the maybe fact that the archon quest wasn't entirely or even mostly about her didn't give me a chance to like enjoy her character much. I have yet to do her own quest soo.. I'll see later.

Shinobu is eh. She is the first one I think that I can say is very mid to me. She's a good character but I can't get behind her design, personality or role at all. Her involvement in the story was sort of weak to me because I kept forgetting about her and the urge to skip her dialogue didn't help.

I just got so lowkey annoyed at Itto for the good chunk of it. I didn't like the early conflict between Itto and Yelan basically and even the Itto and Paimon/Shinobu banter. They just made Itto look so petty imo. He was just picking unnecessary fights and not even because he was being competitive. I love the guy but this was quest was not doing him good. There was Ushi involvement though and that was pretty cute!

Yanfei had good involvement. Being the one to put pieces together being her lawyer self. I'm surprisingly pleased that she was here in the first place. I thought she would just be there but she did a lit more than I expected and I enjoyed that.

I fucking love Xiao so much. Man, he gets so much development and fucking hell his cutscene moments were all so good! Getting to see him on the Bosacius flashbacks were does wonders for my soul. He's such a good fucking character!

I really enjoy the anemo characters so much and the fact that we have gotten content for them is amazing. Anemo characters have got the best stories imo. I hope to get more. Maybe like circle back to Jean or Venti or perhaps get a new female anemo 5 star.

I am so glad to have been set on pulling for Xiao! And he came home!! LET'S GO!!!! Sorry Yelan. I just got a good hydro so I had to pass. Then I'm saving up for a Kazuha C1/C2 or maybe Heizou.

Overall, It's a good quest! Tho the start was weak the second half pulls through and the cutscenes fucking carries it a good amount. The cutscenes HOLY SHIT! I loved those. So. MUCH. Genshin really been improving. Can't wait to see more.

Week in Review

10/22/2023 – 10/28/2023

Sunday

Once again, it’s Manga Sunday: I think I’m going to check out of MamaYuyu at this stage – what drew me into the first chapter was the interesting emotional connection between Corleo and Mamama, but now it seems like the story is moving into a regular shounen battle manga structure with Mamama nowhere to be seen… And I really couldn’t care less about the power system of this world either… And Corleo’s internal motivations are so vague and generically “I wanna be a hero”, which was succinct and fine enough for the first chapter but now I don’t feel it propelling the story in any way other than giving him a reason to fight, which is like every other generic reactive shounen protagonist… I’ll probably check back in when the series ends, but as of now my general opinion is that it should’ve been an oneshot.

Y’know what. I’m genuinely invested in the Handsome Must Die final fight. It’s just high campy fun, with Ban’s tragic backstory and Inukai’s enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-ally turn. I’m sure the final chapter next week will be pretty explosive…also wow Ban-kun…your skills…

Undead Unluck: UWOOAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ANDYYYYYYYYYYYYY also I love seeing Fuuko’s strategic mind at work, trying desperately to think of a solution with all of her members’ powers at her disposal…and once again I think about how amazing Undead Unluck would be as a video game.

It definitely feels like Ichinose is finally reaching its emotional core and wrapping all the twists up in preparation for the ending… I find the light bit of intergenerational trauma theming interesting, I can appreciate that it was a more nuanced relationship than the typical “my dad was mean to me” situation. But even then, it feels slightly surface-level, since Taizan 5 always likes to move things along briskly. I feel a little robbed of a real conversation between the parents, but I do like that Sachie is stepping up. But even then (again), I would’ve liked a bit more insight and depth to this final (?) confrontation beyond flashbacks to show Kakeru’s motivations and then Sachie being like “hey stop that, we actually are proud of you” and Kakeru relenting. Will we get a satisfying conversation between Sota and Kakeru next week? I can only hope.

Oshi no Ko: Gotta say, Kana is super cute in that costume with the panda bow. I’m enjoying the detail of Ruby having stars in both of her eyes when she embodies Ai, though I’m not sure how professional the director’s shooting strategy is lol.

Man, Dandadan always has the most fantastic spreads. I’m looking forward to seeing what supernatural power-up Rin will get, probably something like an idol? Or specifically, an idol duo sort of situation, to fulfil her promise to Mai? That’d be cute.

Marriagetoxin: I think Ureshino and Himin-chu should just date instead. Internally I’m bracing myself for another like five chapters of action that I won’t care about that’ll end with Himin-chu feeling fond of Gero for realises before we move on to the next girl. Also what in the hell is this marriage ceremony. This mangaka can definitely make some stupid over the top creepy gimmick villains, but it’s hard to take it seriously when they’re also trying to write genuine romances between well-rounded characters. Ugh…you know what…maybe I should just drop this series now and check back in at the end to see if Gero and Kinosaki get together…yeah I’m gonna do that.

I’m starting to come around a bit on shady eyepatch investor guy (Magilumiere). I always love a suit jacket over the shoulders look… AND YES HE SERVED AS A CONDUIT FOR EVERYONE’S FORMAL WEAR LOOKS AHHHHH OH MY GOD NIKO???? I SCREAMED OUT LOUD WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE A LITTLE ARISTOCRATIC BOY AHHH Thank you Eyepatch Man. I accept you wholeheartedly now. I don’t care enough to learn your name though lol

The Akane-banashi chapter was fun, I always relish being able to see my favourite character, Karashi.

AGHHHH the little orange on Tayutan’s chibi in Cipher Academy is sooooooo cute and YESS THERE IT IS THE RETURN OF HARSHLY SHADED TRAUMA CREATOR TAYUTAN WOOO I fear that she’ll lose this battle though…we’ve had it too good for too long… Awww DDR and taiko games, that’s so cute… AND BYU’S ONE POINT LESSON BEING UPSIDE DOWN SDKLFSDF I really really really love how Cipher Academy plays with its pages and isn’t afraid to get silly with it. I know there was that kerfuffle about how “untranslatable” Cipher Academy is and how that’s apparently a bad thing, but I actually really enjoy seeing the original Japanese wordplay in these sorts of Code Battles, and I don’t think having to leave it in is a failure on the translator’s part. I don’t need or even necessarily want translated media to be scrubbed completely bare of its original context, after all. Kubinashi is definitely nasty for starting off with that word, though. Interesting, so that’s Tayutan’s weakness… I’m getting more scared for her. I love the chain link imagery, it’s so fitting for shiritori. AGHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ANOTHER WIN FOR TAYUTAN WOOOOOOOOOOOO and in such a dramatic fashion… I’m starting to think Tayutan will just never ever lose, which is completely fine by me because I love her. There’s something so cool about a character who has to restrain herself in order to not hurt others…uwagh. Tayutan the character of all time.

Because my library deadline was rapidly descending and I couldn’t renew it, I finally continued reading Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters on my quest to find a contemporary adult fiction novel I enjoy (the quest being named, succinctly, Am I The Idiot Or Does Adult Fiction Just Suck). And because this is the first time this has been brought up in a Week in Review, I’ll go a bit into my weird book tastes:

For some reason I hate reading 99.9% of adult fiction, and most of the ones I do like are classics I had to read for my English degree. I probably have less than twenty adult fiction books in my entire book collection (totalling 148 books, not including digital), and the thing is that I really enjoy the idea of buying books and I would like to do it without having to shamefully walk into the kid’s or manga section. (And also I’d like to read a good book that still allows sex and swearing lol). But I don’t know man, I look up popular books and books that seem up my alley and every time I read them I just get so bored by the story progression or lack thereof or the writing style or the dialogue that I can’t relate to at all. I try following BookTubers and reading their recommendations, but it drives me a little bonkers crazy because most of them share the exact same milquetoast opinions and they’re all mood readers who love thought provoking books about exploring the human condition and they all love the same Booker Prize or Women’s Prize or whatever other prize winning book du jour, and absolutely none of them share my tastes, which makes me feel a little bit like an alien freak with no one to talk to or get recommendations from…

I’m being a bit dramatic. It hasn’t all been terrible – some contemporary adult fiction I’ve enjoyed are Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (which I own) and Dark Matter by Michelle Paver (which I greatly enjoyed, but the ending made me so sad that I know I’ll never want to reread it, and therefore I won��t buy it). And I’ve generally enjoyed the non-fiction books I’ve read, so I could always buy one of those if I really love it. But nevertheless, I embark on my lonely quest every time I try an adult fiction novel…

Detransition, Baby is fine. I dropped it lol. The messy dynamics between the main trio is an intriguing premise, but I don’t like all the off-topic tangents that are just saying things at me and the dialogue feels so stiff and unnatural. And to be fair, I’ve been around normies sometimes and they actually do talk like that, it just freaks me out because it sounds fake and so unlike how I talk with my friends, and I can’t get invested in characters who seem fake to me. So this one is going to be a pass, just like all the other novels I’ve tried whose premises were “explore the human condition with these messy characters who say a lot of things but nothing really happens.” I should really learn my lesson by now.

Monday

Finally back on the House marathon train. This episode had a fun set-up, being the one where a guy takes people hostage in order to get a diagnosis. I always like the episodes where the challenge isn’t necessarily the diagnosis itself but the situation around the patient. There are some fun parallels between House’s obsession with the patient’s obsession and how it endangers others, and also a solid kick to Thirteen’s apathy towards her own life. Solid episode all around.

Watched episodes 2 and 3 of Kusuriya, and I’m starting to lose the faith a little bit. And by that I mean I think that maybe Kusuriya’s structure just doesn’t lend itself well to anime…at least, for the first few mysteries that have very little action. But in general Maomao tends to solve mysteries with just a little bit of looking around and thinking, and the mysteries themselves don’t require too much set-up either, so in anime form it feels like 20 minutes of stasis. There’s a lot of exposition that needs to be done too, and I think they should’ve used that Narrator they established in episode 1 instead of having the characters awkwardly talk at each other about things they already know. Of course, I’m still going to watch it, but if I were to separate out the scores for the manga and anime, the manga would be a 10/10 while the anime is about a 7/10 so far. I’m hoping things will pick up when we get to the Garden Party, but for now I’ll just enjoy seeing Maomao and Jinshi in full color and with voices and accept that it’ll be a somewhat clunky adaptation. But it’s fun getting to see Maomao be a little kitty cat poison freak.

Kakegurui is another series where I don’t really get what’s going on anymore but I stay to see what happens anyway (plus the art is gorgeous). Yumeko as a protagonist feels a little one-note, and it’s funny that it even carries into her backstory, so we basically didn’t get any new insight to her character in chapter 105 other than external information about her family. In terms of characters I’m actually invested in, I hope we can get back to Mary soon, since she actually has to struggle and claw her way to what she wants.

Koko wa Ima Kara Rinri desu 38: This is a manga I picked up on recommendation from a classmate, and it’s been decently enjoyable so I’ve stuck with it. I do enjoy the “teacher helps a class of students” structure (Assassin Classroom being a favourite), and I appreciate that this manga hasn’t shied away from real things that teens deal with like sex and gender. This chapter was wholly uneventful, though.

I don’t know if I would call Scary Campus College University “good”, per se…but it’s definitely entertaining. This beauty contest is really…well, it’s absurdist fun. I liked that bit when the other beauty contest winners were given some pathos beyond being over-confident, and I like that Chigarashi eked out a victory by herself…even if it was because of a stupid ridiculous rap LMAO. Feels very Sakura vs Saki rap battle in Zombieland Saga. With Fujimiya being the crux/final boss and all of the exorcists in play in this Cultural Festival arc, it feels like the manga might be wrapping up as a whole soon.

Sousou no Frieren 115: Frieren is a bit of a weird series for me. It’s so universally praised and emotionally affecting for a lot of people, but I don’t feel all that strongly about it. To be honest, most of my investment is from seeing the shy blossoming romance between Stark and Fern, and I shamefully admit that I kind of don’t feel anything about Frieren’s wistfulness for her past with Himmel. I care even less so about the action scenes, so this current arc is doing absolutely nothing for me. I’m going to force myself to watch the anime since everyone’s raving about it, but I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it. And it’s like, I’m down for some quiet fantasy stories, but this one just doesn’t grab me.

I’m really happy to get another chapter of Yuria-sensei no Akai Ito. This manga has just been so refreshingly messy and human, and I love the complex web of atypical relationships that this manga has woven. In the first place, it’s so rare to get a protagonist like Yuria, and her age and practical personality shines through amongst all the chaos she has to deal with. This Christmas chapter was super cute, and a glimpse into the non-nuclear queer-adjacent living situation that these people could have together…not to mention how all the characters feel so layered and real. This was the kind of ambiguous messiness I wanted from Detransition, Baby, to be honest. And I just found out this got a live action show, which is so fitting for this manga, so I’m looking forward to watching that and I hope they do the story justice. (Although I’m a bit tentative… Because the thing about Japanese live action adaptations (that I’ve seen, anyway) is that they tend to be a little too…clean and perfectly choreographed to a science. To the point where there’s this veneer of fakeness to it. And I want MESS. And hnrghn I’m looking at the preview images and already I feel like the actress for Yuria is too young and neat and why is her hair so perfectly shiny and straight, I was imagining like Evelyn Wang from EEAAO’s levels of frizz…I’m going to be disappointed, aren’t I).

Two new chapters of the Kusuriya manga, what a treat. We get a nice denouement for the hunting arc and some more progression between Maomao and Jinshi, with rumblings of perhaps some political conflict ahead. Possibly three high ranking consorts being pregnant at the same time is such a juicy plot thread…I really look forward to seeing how Maomao protects Gyokuyou and how the babies will change the political landscape.

I had meant to leave Kusuriya for last in my manga binge, but I missed that Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru had a new chapter. Absolutely nothing happened though, which is a little baffling but whatever.

Yeah okay I had to quell my curiosity so I watched the first episode of the Yuria-sensei live action and yeah. It’s just as I thought. Everything’s just too neat, too polished, too rehearsed for any real emotion to come through… The camerawork is uninspired, the lighting is so whatever, the acting is a tad overacted… It’s crazy to me that even the hospital and the movers and Yuria’s home are just. Pristine. There’s just zero verisimilitude to be seen, which stings more when the manga is so uniquely real. Goro’s mom’s actor is spot on, though. I don’t know, maybe an anime would do it justice…but I don’t even know if anime production companies would go for a story like this, and also I feel like the scratchiness of the manga’s art doesn’t lend itself well to animation. But that sort of roughness does lend itself well to live action, which is why I wish the live action was good and had good actors who could actually emotionally fill out the roles…it’d be such a rich piece… basically I want this to be shot and directed by anyone who actually has a creative vision and isn’t beholden to just making a beautiful pristine product.

Tuesday

Watched two more generally uneventful House episodes with my friend. The House/Cuddy plotline is soooo boring and juvenile to both of us, but we liked the Foreman/Thirteen plotline.

I finally continued reading Sammy Keyes and the Hollywood Mummy, and god it’s just so good. The change of scenery from the previous books is a welcome change, and the book kicks off right in the midst of the action as Sammy and Marissa travel to Hollywood to see Sammy’s mother. Seeing Sammy and Lana finally interact is so rewarding, and their relationship is so nuanced and layered – Sammy’s constantly wrestling with her own anger and sadness and empathy towards this mother that she doesn’t even recognize anymore. And reading this as an adult, I can also see Lana’s sadness in her single minded ambition in this horrible industry. I love that the Sammy Keyes books aren’t afraid to delve into complicated subject matter, despite being kid’s books. And wow, our first murder case of the series, and it’s looking like Lana is involved somehow…all of the set-up is just pitch perfect.

Wow Marissa’s getting some real standout moments in this one, which works because Sammy is so frazzled about her mother being involved in the case. But Marissa’s emotional maturity is great to see. The tension is just racketed up tenfold throughout this whole book in comparison to the ones before, since Sammy has a big personal stake in the mystery and she’s a fish out of water and it’s a murder. Wendelin van Draanen is definitely good at creating a cascade of chaos.

Wednesday

Finished Sammy Keyes and the Hollywood Mummy and wowwww. So many good misdirects but also clues being dropped all along the way…and a very dramatic intense ending that Sammy takes charge of…and also themes about the pain of seeing your mother as her own person and letting go…genuine emotional moments between Sammy and Lana…everything just works so well. This is definitely my favourite book of the series so far. And oh no now I’m a third of the way through…it’s so hard to stop myself from ploughing through the whole series.

Thursday

Couldn’t help myself and started the next Sammy Keyes book, Sammy Keyes and the Search for Snake Eyes, but I’ll probably stop here for a bit because it’s not as electric as Hollywood Mummy was. Having a baby dumped on her is chaotic in a stressful way, and it just feels like everything is going wrong for Sammy. I like that at least Officer Borsch has grown enough to see Sammy as more than a juvenile delinquent though, and can get her the help she needs.

New Skip to Loafer chapter! Makoto saying she has a crush on a senpai makes me a little sad, since I’m a Makoto/Yuzuki shipper… also we got a glimpse of Sousuke’s somewhat complicated home life huh… Overall just a solid chapter.

Friday

I couldn’t wait until Anime Saturday so I watched episode 4 of Undead Unluck and I cried. Everything is just so perfect, I love the quick cuts both for comedy and for drama, Yuuki Aoi killed it as Gina, the comedy was great, the action was great, the lighting and color grading was amazing, I even love the sound editing and sound design, I love the video-gamey sound effects and also the general sound editing of the fight and the sci-fi elements and the UNCHANGE cut-in, fuck that was insanely stylish, and I love Gina and Andy’s kiss in her final moments… This is what makes Undead Unluck so refreshing, and what hooked me onto the series in the first place. Introducing a girl who’s a romantic rival for the main girl is so common in shounen manga, but they would never let her actually get close to the main guy, let alone share an actual intimate moment or a kiss, since they’re so set on preserving the ‘purity’ of the main couple’s relationship. But to get this moment of real connection and tragedy in Undead Unluck was so amazing, and I was shocked that Gina actually died when they’d endeared her to us so much. Undead Unluck truly doesn’t pull its punches, and I just love it so so so much. I think what was always holding the manga back a little was its art, which is lovable but still a bit rough around the edges, so seeing it translated so beautifully and even elevated so highly in the anime with just perfect production on every aspect of animation makes me so happy. If they can keep this up, it’ll be an easy 10/10 for me, and another entry into the Starlight Time Machine Awards.

One more Houseki no Kuni chapter before we head into hiatus again. The quiet but stirring emotions that Ichikawa conveys in their artwork is so moving, even if I don’t remember all the granular plot details that got us to this point. Once Houseki no Kuni ends, I’ll have to go through and reread the whole thing.

Two more chapters of Gakuen Babysitters, which are just like cotton candy in that they are sweet but ultimately lacking in substance. Seeing Kotaro interact with a bird was cute, but the rest was just whatever.

A pretty action packed chapter of To You The Immortal. I don’t really know how I feel about this future arc, but I suppose we have to follow Immo to the very ends of time so the adventure still has a ways to go. This is another manga where I binge-read the whole thing and fell in love with it, but now that I’m reading it only when it updates, it’s hard for me to remember everything that happened. (And I hear the anime was…clunky). So I’ll have to reread this when it ends.

Kemono Jihen chapter 64: A pretty fun fight! I’m not really one for fighting tournaments though, so this arc hasn’t really grabbed me. But hey… Inugami/Mihai ship fodder… I’ll take it.

Saturday

Spent the day making soup with my friend and then rewatching Over the Garden Wall for peak autumnal vibes. I love the different vignettes we see every episode, the music is just absolute perfection, and I love the unique voice acting. OTGW just really knew what it wanted to do and didn’t overstay its welcome. Also Greg is soooooo cute.

The new Kusuriya episode had a welcome style change from the previous three episodes, with a looser style of animation that added a lot of character to the more mundane scenes like eating or feeding. There were some clunky bits, like when Maomao waved goodbye at Xiaolan, but overall I really enjoyed the experimentation here. The slap and the overall confrontation between Maomao and Lihua’s lady in waiting was fantastic, and I also liked the subtlety of Lihua’s embarrassment when Maomao tells her about the secret technique. Some other little moments I liked were the brothel ladies playing with Maomao’s hair, and Lihua petting her head when she was asleep. Also the return of the narrator! I thought the pacing throughout was just perfect. Judging by the preview, the next episode will seemingly be a return to form, but at least the Lihua arc was a knockout.

A pretty chill slice of life SpyFam episode today. The segment about macarons with the Damian/Anya moment was cute, but I physically could not make myself care about the Franky and cat segment. Even reading that chapter in the manga for the first time was such a slog because of how much of a foregone conclusion it was, and I didn’t find the comedy good enough to justify it. I hope maybe someday we’ll get a Franky arc with real stakes, because his position as an informant can actually be pretty perilous and ripe for drama, but I digress. But! Next week we start the cruise ship arc! Which is my favourite arc! So I’m looking forward to that!

Ongoing Series - Thai

Lovely Writer Ep 5 - a little slow this week, but at least Gene finally flirted back, and very cute flirting it was, too. Also we got Aey’s motivation, background, and love interest. Thank goodness for that.

Brothers Ep 8 - still pants, what can I say? Clearly I am a BL masochist. Very embarrassing for everyone concerned.

1000 Stars Ep 9 - the conflict over Tian’s father was REALLY well done. The plot of this drama is excellent, the leads are great together, and yes I totally cried. What, you didn’t?

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Word of Honor (China) Ep 16-18 - big battle fighty fighty stabby stabby. Ep 17 switches to “this drama isn’t big enough for two chaotic-neutral godlings!” So what do they do? Drink together and bicker... A LOT. Then in Ep 18 we all get the dubious joy of really freaky puppets. (I HATE puppets.) Also how is China letting this be so SO VERY VERY GAY? Also, I wanna walk through the forest wearing a smanshy purple robe and waving a big fuck-off white fan around simply because I’m a pretentious fuss monger. And frankly, I feel like this is an achievable life goal for me.

We Best Love 2 (Taiwan) Ep 4 - not gonna lie, this is looking to be one of my top 3 BLs of 2021. It’s SO GOOD. Big bonus to this ep for treating stalker behavior like the mental illness it is and not as some dumb representation of enduring love.

The Most Peaceful Place is My Place (Vietnam) Ep 1 - finally dropped (find it under NƠI BÌNH YÊN NHẤT LÀ VỀ BÊN EM on O2′s channel). It’s got actors already comfortable with BL and looks pretty good so far. An angry tsundere uke reunited with his ex, a stoic chef, giving us lots of snap, crackle, and pop out the gate.

Dear Uranus (Taiwan GL) Ep 2 - I want to love it, but it is just moving too fast. There’s not enough character dev and then they’re throwing flashbacks in? It feels like a treatment rather than a show, and a rushed treatment at that. Bummer.

HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 2 (AKA Ep 3-4) - let the cheesy popcorn continue! Idiot remains an idiot; ingenue remains an ice queen; nice gay guy remains nice and gay; obsessive stalker brother is getting ever more whackadoddle. Of course these last two have the best chemistry. (It’s caregiver codependency and the salvation trope. We got us a Leo/Fiat situation going on.) Plus lots of classic BL tropes because OF COURSE there are lots of tropes.

Occasionally, I am tempted to argue that shows like H4 or Cherry Magic or Ossan’s Love aren’t technically BL because of the office setting and age of the protags - but then they all behave like high school students anyway, so *shrug*

Stand Alones

Cute little Taiwanese micro BL Friend or Lover dropped, about bisexual realization within a friendship group. Normally these are too short for me, but this one did pretty good with its 15 minutes of charm, plus it’s abad boy + shy softy pairing.

Breaking News - Thai BL

Fish Upon the Sky released its actual trailer. The upside-down kiss is gone, which makes everyone sad, and it seems far less rivals to lovers than the first iteration, which makes ME sad. But it still looks good and a more classic BL than GMMTV has given us in a while. New trailer focused more on the makeover trope and they’ve upped Mix’s role (the object of everyone’s affection) now that he’s proved himself. (Or they are using him more to carry the trailer since he has a fan base form 1k*). Starts April 9 on GMMTV in 1K*’s time slot, probably with a 10 ep run.

2gether the movie is apparently coming April 22 to Thai theaters. F4 Thailand must be having issues or GMMTV just wants to milk the BrightWin cash cow. It’s rumored to be a combination of 2gehter + Still 2gether with some extra scenes and ending. Also, one assumes a lot will be cut out, if it’s movie length.

Call It What You Want released its updated trailer. If anything, it looks more scary than before. What are we in for? April 9th.

Nitiman got a release date, May 7 on One31.

I Told Sunset About You 2 got an updated release date of May 27 on LineTV.

Second Chance the series is coming to LineTV on March 29. I don’t know much about this one. Tons of familiar faces (mostly TharnType side dishes) and some nice looking new talent but a dearth of eng subs. I think it may take on Brothers’ time slot. Line did eng subs for Brothers so maybe they will do 2nd Chance too?

Close Friend the series is coming April 22. This is a combination of 6 couples with 6 story arcs as music videos (maybe)? It’s an epic fan service with familiar faces like OhmFluke (UWMA), MaxNat (LBC also in Y-Destiny), YoonLay (YYY also in Y-Destiny), KimCop (GenY), and JaFirst (TT2).

Y-Destiny starts March 30, and has starting dropping couple’s trailers. I’m still suspicious given the director but it seems like there is plot (or plots) and a theme. Looks to be a series of 7 single ep vignettes (amended, see comments, might be 2 eps each for 14 eps total), different couple each time, some with supernatural elements, all with decent chemistry and acting chops.

Gossip - BL Outside of Thailand

Scholar Ryu’s Wedding Ceremony AKA Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding (Korean historical BL) got a legit teaser (eng sub here). @curriculumvtae reports that it’s releasing April 15th on WeTV (Philippines & Thailand) and Idol Romance (South Korea), while Will of Thai Bl says it’ll be on Viki too. It’s a short run of 8 ep built on a fake relationship trope (arranged marriage variant):

Ryu Ho Seon’s (Kang In Soo from You Wish) arranged marriage turns out to be with his expected bride’s brother, Choi Ki Wan (Lee Se Jin from Mr Heart). Ryu tries to undo the marriage, but his ill mother opposes this saying the scandal would be too much. Meanwhile, Kim Tae Hyeong (Jang Eui Soo from Where Your Eyes Linger), a senior at Ryu’s school, comes to congratulate him and falls in love with Choi. Then one day, the original bride disappears.

Okay it seems a bit twisty turny for ONLY 8 EPS, but oh my goodness how excited are we? Our first intentional historical BL out of Korea!

We already knew Hong Kong was doing a remake of Japan’s Ossan’s Love under the same name (not my favorite Japanese BL but so very popular) but it’s now reported to be coming to Viu in June. Who knows how the CFA will take it. Depends on whether Hong Kong bows before the NO GAY KISSES regs or if they are going to use this as a political nose thumb... things could get cray with this puppy (the original has several kisses and s shower scene). Are we back in Addicted territory only with added comedy and civil unrest?

Speaking of Japan, Absolute BL (AKA Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko) dropped sooner than anyone thought, March 27. But being Japanese who knows how/when/if we get subs. Protag finds himself trapped in a world of BL, but being straight he fights against any hot guy that draws near, but the whole world (literally) is conspiring against him. It’s a parody adapted from a yoai.

What with Absolute BL from Japan plus Lovely Writer and Call it What You Want from Thailand, is 2021 the year of BL being ultra self referential? Sure feels like it.

In Case You Missed It

Faded a gay micro film from Taiwan from 2017 deals with parental acceptance and serves up a ton of BL tropes (piggyback, forehead kiss, etc). I’m pretty sure this was a propaganda piece for legalization of gay marriage, and it’s an interesting nugget of BL history as a result. Yes, it ends happy. It’s cute.

Pairing: George Weasley x reader

Summary: Y/N is used to being a background character someone you glaze over but never really notice. But more recently she longed for someone to see her, well she longed for a certain redhead to see her.

A/N: Wrote this for @theweasleysredhair writing challenge based off the prompt “You remembered?” very proud of this fic so i hope you love it as much as i do. All feedback is welcomed :))))

Y/N is very content with being a background character, she’s quite used to it actually. Growing up with 3 older and much louder brothers she was pretty happy with sticking to the sidelines, letting them be noisy and crazy while she kept to herself. Y/N grew up with mostly boys around her, her mother passed away when she was young. Y/N would always beg her brothers and her dad for stories of her mother, wanting to feel closer to her. Y/N’s dad would fondly retell memories of his beautiful wife, reminiscing on how witty and charismatic she was. He’d mention all the small, quirky things she would do which made him fall hard and fast for her. Y/N longed for that kind of love, she longed for someone to take notice of her in the way her dad did for her mum. Ever since Y/N was a little girl she yearned to be heard and seen but that proved difficult when you’re as shy and quiet as her.

Judging by most of the people in Y/N’s life she seemed to attract the boisterous types, guessing her quiet nature balanced them out. She loved her friends with her entire heart, even if their personalities were the opposite of hers, Y/N wouldn’t change their qualities if she could.

One of her friends, although still lively and vibrant as the others, also had a calm and tranquil side to him. George Weasley. Y/N had only known George for a few years having met at Lee Jordan’s 18th birthday 3 years ago. Somehow that night she had ended up climbing a tree with the tall redhead whom she had only met 30 minutes prior.

“How the hell did you get up to that branch?” Y/N mumbled, trying to figure out how to reach the higher branch where George Weasley was currently sitting, his long legs swinging back and forth as he chuckled at the girl below him.

“I used that branch sticking out there and then swung my leg up to get here.” George points to the branch to the girls left.

Y/N grunts as she attempts what George said but huffs and pouts her lip feeling defeated, “you forget that I have little legs, unlike you Mr. giraffe.”

George rolls his eyes and stretches his hand out, “try again, I’ll help pull you up.”

Somehow, George manages to pull Y/N up and they sit comfortably next to one another up high in the tree. “There you go little bunny, don’t go falling off now.”

Y/N rolls her eyes at the nickname wishing she had brought her cider up with her feeling very self-conscious and unsure of what to do her shaking hands.

The pair fall into a comfortable silence, watching the party goers below them gathered around a very intoxicated birthday boy chanting as he chugs another beer, “we love to drink with Lee cause Lee is our mate and when we drink with Lee he gets it down in 8…7…”

Their voices drown out as George gently nudges Y/N’s shoulder pulling her attention back to him, “soo, Y/N I hear you’re not much of the talker?”

Y/N blushes hard grateful for the lack of light outside. “No I guess not. Not many are interested in what I have to say.”

George smiles, his eyes not leaving the girl beside him, “well I am. Tell me something.”

Y/N chews on her bottom lip nervously and looks back at the drunk crowd, “like what?”

George shrugs, he didn’t really mind what the conversation was about, he just wanted to hear the pretty girl speak. “I dunno, anything. Tell me about something that makes you happy.”

Y/N racks her brain for something to talk about, her palms getting sweaty from the long silence. Finally, she settles on something that always fills her with joy, her mother.

“Um okay so,” she starts staring at the leaves swaying in the tree, pushing down the anxiety. “Before my mother died she always had this film camera with her, my dad used to joke around saying that she loved this camera more than him,” Y/N chuckles quietly before continuing “She would take photos of the most random things, we have this big box back home filled with all the photos she ever took with that camera.” Y/N pauses, fumbling with her fingers. “I wish we still had the camera. You see after my mum passed, dad had to look after us 4 kids and with only one income coming in, it was pretty tough. For my 12th birthday I reeeaaally wanted a new bike, I’d complained for years that I couldn’t have my brothers old one because it was a gross boy’s bike. So, my dad sold my mums camera to get me a pink one. Kind of wish he didn’t because I would have loved to still have mum’s camera with us.”

Y/N finished and chewed her lip realising speaking about her dead mother probably wasn’t a great conversation piece, but any story of her mother always made her feel warm inside.

George hadn’t taken his eyes off her throughout the whole story, his heart fluttering when her eyes had lit up as she spoke about her mother.

“I’m sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear, it was the first thing that popped into my head.” Y/N mumbled.

George simply shook his head and replied, “you don’t ever have to apologise to me for saying what’s on your mind Y/N. I’ll listen to whatever you have to say.”

For the first time in a while, Y/N felt seen.

Y/N’s phone dings and she pulls it from her pocket to read the message.

-Hey bunny :) so 4 tonight, we’re aiming to get to urs at like 7. does that work for u?

It was from George. Even if she didn’t have his number saved, she’d be able to tell it was from the redhead simply from his choice of nickname. Y/N hated when he called her bunny but George insisted on using the nickname ever since Lee’s 18th mainly because he thought it was cute not that he would tell her that.

Y/N’s heart thumped harder in her chest purely from the fact that George had texted her. Her crush on George had amplified over the years of knowing the boy, feeling both thankful and uneasy at the fact that he had so effortlessly slotted into their tight friendship group mainly because he was always around making Y/N a stuttering mess.

Y/N’s fingers fumble as she types out a response, it was her birthday today and all her friends we’re persistent in throwing her a party. They had agreed to a small gathering at Y/N’s place, Y/N didn’t want them to make such a fuss over it.

-Hey Georgie, 7 is perfect! Cant wait.

-See u then bunny, hope ur ready to get ur drink on ;)

-IDK, after the other weekend I dont think im ready to face alcohol again

-nope! no excuses from u, u only turn 21 once

Y/N chuckles at George’s message and goes back to tidying her house, ready for tonight.

As soon as it hits 7pm her friends are barging through her front door lugging drinks.

Each of them greet Y/N giving her a hug and wishing her happy birthday.

“We’ll do presents later, first let’s get some drinks into us!” Angelina cheers as she starts to mix some deadly concoction. Alicia connects her phone to the speaker, the living room filling with music.

Y/N jumps as a voice pipes up from behind her, “happy birthday little bunny.”

She turns facing George as he places a brightly coloured wrapped box on the counter with the other presents. He opens his arms, engulfing her into a giant hug. Y/N wraps her arms around his waist, giving him a tight squeeze, “thanks” she mumbles into his chest before pulling away looking up at his warm eyes. They stare at each other for a second before the moment is broken when Fred places something on Y/N’s head.

“A birthday tiara for the birthday girl” Fred states loudly, Y/N glances at the mirror hanging from the wall on her left sees a plastic silver and pink tiara perched upon her head.

“Oh god,” Y/N mumbles adjusting it slightly.

Lee shouts over the music, drawing everyone’s attention over to him. “Okay everyone, the ever lovely Angie has made us each a questionable looking but delicious drink to start the night. So get your butts over here and let’s get this party started!”

A few hours and many, many drinks later, everyone is huddled in the living room, sitting on the couches watching Y/N open her presents. So far, she had gotten some perfume from Angelina, chocolates and a gorgeous photo frame from Alicia and Fred and Lee had gifted Y/N with a bottle of wine and voucher from the little boutique at the corner of her street. Y/N’s cheeks were hurting from smiling so much and her heart swelled at the sweet gifts her friends had gotten her.

“Okay, only one left,” Alicia says, clapping her hands excitedly.

“Probably the best one,” Fred whispers to Lee.

“Of course it’s going to be the best one you idiot,” Angelina says as a matter of fact, overhearing the two boys.

George, who is sitting to Y/N’s right, hands over the brightly colour box, trying to hide his excitement and nerves. “Here you go Y/N, happy birthday.”

The box feels heavy in Y/N’s grasp as she places it in her lap tearing off the wrapping paper. Y/N glances around, noticing everyone’s eager eyes on her. She sees Angelina nudge Alicia’s side smiling at each other knowingly. Y/N furrow her brows, slightly confused then draws her attention back to the box. She ripped off the paper carefully and uncover a brown box, no hints as to what is inside.

“Oh my god, hurry up and open it the suspense is killing me!” Fred says impatiently, George whacks him across the head telling him to shut up.

Y/N take off the lid and immediately her mouth gapes open finally seeing what’s inside. She shakily lifts the film camera out of the box and hold it so gently as if it’s made of diamonds and gold.

Small tears prick in Y/N’s eyes, shocked and surprised at George’s gift, it looks exactly like the one her mother had.

She manages to squeak out a small, “you remembered?” referring to the first conversation they had 3 years prior.

George has a small smile etched onto his lips. “Of course I did, I remember everything you tell me. I take a lot of pride in knowing everything about you actually.” He says, puffing his chest out proudly.

“Yeah like what?” Y/N cradles the camera in her arms.

“Well,” George starts. “I know that you hate the smell tequila because it reminds you of your 18th when you spent most of the night by the toilet. I know that you can’t sleep if the room is dead quiet. I know that you love buying plants but can never seem to keep them alive. I know you never wear matching socks because you think it’s a fun way to spice up an outfit.” He finishes smugly.

Alicia and Angelina let out a small aww in the background reminding Y/N of the 4 other sets of eyes watching her and George right now.

“Well there’s one thing you don’t know about me.”

“Yeah? What’s that then?” George counters.

Y/N doesn’t know where she musters up the courage from to speak the next words, maybe from the alcohol buzzing through her body or finally being sick of keeping this to herself for the past 3 years. Whatever it may be, she’s rather proud of herself, ignoring the way her stomach churns.

“That I have a huge crush on you.”

She expected George to laugh in her face before rejecting her gently. What Y/N definitely didn’t expect was him to cradle her face in his large hands, pressing a sweet but passionate kiss to her pink lips. She squeaks in surprise before melting into the kiss, gripping onto his shirt tightly, scared he would slip away.

Much to Y/N’s dismay George pulls away from the kiss tucking a strand of her hair back behind her ear, “no I knew that too.”

“Wha-how?” Y/N stutters.

The attention is pulled to Alicia as she begins to speak, “it wasn’t much of a secret babe. Everybody knew you were crushing on George. Can’t believe it took either one of you so long to do something about it.”

“Little Georgie here spent months trying to find that camera for you as a way to confess his undying love for you.” Fred reaches over and ruffles his twin’s hair who shoves him off.

“Yep, we were all so bloody excited for you to open his presents so you two can stop pining over each other.” Lee adds downing the rest of his drink then standing up. “Right, now the two love birds have finally confessed their feelings. Who’s up for a round of beer pong? Reigning champion here has yet to be defeated.”

“You’re on Jordan, that ego of yours has gotten large enough.” Fred challenges, everyone moving over to the table to set up for beer pong. Leaving Y/N and George alone on the couch.

George wraps his lanky arm around Y/N’s shoulder pulling her into his side, “I hope you’re enjoying your birthday bunny.”

Y/N grins widely, playing with her new camera before lifting it up and aiming it at George. “best birthday ever Georgie, thank you.” She squeezes the button down, snapping a picture of George who is staring at her like she’s the only person in the world.

Y/N is very content with being a background character, she’s quite used to it actually. But for once she doesn’t mind being the centre of someone’s undivided attention.

(Also is it just me or does this chapter kind of alude that part of Magnus feeling trapped is the mansion and Albany? Like the whole space and atmosphere? I had an inkling since the Eliaas snipped since he was like "this is my husband's house" like he doesn't feel like the manion is his house but I kept quiet about it but it just seems as if the whole place is part of the reason he feels trapped. And also it seems like the attention from Alec being such a prominent figure is also a part of it)

what's something you're really looking forwards to in the superhero fic?

oooooh good question tyvm!!!! i will avoid talking about the actual plot of the story in my answer in order to not spoil any major stuff, but i can talk about random little fluffy things.

[ask me questions abt the backstories/lore for my if you’re going my way, i’ll go with you fic]

cut with a variety of answers below:

there are a few random subplots that i am excited for, some bigger and some smaller. the most immediate one is a cute lil subplot about virgil Realizing how very very touchstarved roman is (bc roman has conditioned himself Not To Talk About His Wants Ever so virgil has to figure things out) and like. working on fixing that, and teaching roman that It’s Okay To Ask For Hugs, and roman just slowly turning into the clingiest cuddliest kid Ever which virgil is Very okay with and just. roman will be so much happier at the end of this subplot it’s going to be great.

i am also so excited for the scene where roman first calls virgil his dad <333 it’s going to be SOOOO cute. virgil is 100% going to break down crying.

and ofc i am excited for patton and roman to finally meet and instantly become best friends. it will be Adorable.

i also am really hyped to include more of dukeceit just. being so so soft and in love with each other. and kind-of-joking-kind-of-not about getting married like they did in the first scene that they were both in, that’s going to be a recurring thing and it’s going to be so cute. and more scenes of them just being domestic at home with patton. they adore each other sm and i love them.

and on a different note from all that fluff, i have a TON of angsty flashbacks planned for both remus and janus bc. their backstories are both full of trauma lmao. especially remus’s. and i am so excited to retroactively hurt them and make the readers yell at me about it lol. and then also one of those scenes will actually be more h/c, bc it’s about janus and remus after they start dating, and something happens that triggers remus (like. actually. not the internet-diluted version of the word), and after doing some immediate help-remus-recover stuff, they talk about it and about how to avoid that happening again and both share some stuff with each other and it’s such a big expression of trust for both of them and they get much closer bc of it and i love them <3

and also!! also there will be one flashback that’s much less angsty and much more cute, about the first halloween after remus and janus started dating, and remus had like a very elaborate vampire costume with fake blood and so on, and patton was actually scared by it but tried really hard not to let it show, but remus noticed and immediately just sat down on the floor and beckoned patton over and like very gently talked with him about it and was like “see it’s just me” and took off some of the accessories and let patton examine the costume to reassure himself that it was all pretend, until remus was sure patton was okay again <3 it’s going to be SOO soft and adorable.

AND i am VERY VERY excited for when i start introducing logan’s alter ego life, because unlike virgil, logan still actively maintains his alter ego. he’s openly trans, and is a phd student (who is very vague about what he is studying bc he keeps finishing his degrees very fast and then starting another one) (the running joke is that his friends all tease him for never graduating and think he’s just really slowly working towards one degree still). and another running joke is that his friends have all Obviously caught on that his absurdly buff boyfriend, who always shows up with a supersuit very obviously showing beneath the sweater he threw on over it or whatever, is the Nightmare, and they tease logan about it while he tries very poorly to act natural and deny knowing what they’re talking about—except actually that’s all on purpose and logan is very pleased about this situation, bc it helps to distance him further from anyone ever suspecting that he’s dr logic, bc everyone knows dr logic and the nightmare are nemeses and obviously hate each other and would never date lol. when it comes to the alter ego subplot as a whole, we will for sure get some babysitting-patton scenes, some hanging-out-with-janus-and-patton (and maybe remus depending on at what point in the fic it takes place) scenes, some taking-care-of-roman-when-virgil-has-a-lot-of-work-stuff-going-on scenes, and just some comedic shenannigans about how his friends have no idea that he’s dr logic and think that’s just an absurd idea. it’s going to be so fun.

im also toying with the idea of having a chapter that would be unrelated to the plot of the story and exist just to have some fun while writing/reading it, where some random super (probably villain but it could be a hero) deciding to kidnap “the Nightmare’s boyfriend, yknow, that wimpy nerdy guy who can’t even graduate on time” to try and get some leverage to defeat virgil. and logan, when the villain/hero/whoever shows up to capture his alter ego, just. being like. “well. i could get out of this situation laughably easily. but i would compromise my identity in doing so, bc it would reveal i am dr logic. hm. time to play the damsel in distress i guess. Oh No Youve Captured Me This Is So Scary” and has just So much fun messing with whoever “captured” him for an hour or two until virgil shows up and “rescues” him. and that will be just very silly and fun and end with an intensely tooth-rottingly-fluffy analogical scene.
