f1wags Yn Gasly, youngest child of the Gasly family has been spotted in a cafe in London with a guy. Since her first reappearance into the F1 world at the Bahrain paddock in 2023, she has been linked with a few drivers such as the likes of Mclaren Formula 1 Driver; Lando Norris and Ferrari hotshot Charles Leclerc. What are your thoughts on who this mystery guy is ?

Who is Yn Gasly?

The 23 year old Gasly girl is the youngest of the 5 siblings. She is currently a student at The University of Buckingham studying Marketing and Media Communications. She transferred from Universita Iulm - Communications, Media and Advertising where she had been studying the past 2 years. Her transfer to England allowed her to accompany her brother at his new Formula 1 team.

The youngest Gasly grew up alongside Charles Leclerc, Esteban Ocon and Anthoine Hubert who was her best friend. Yn has always been an avid fan of racing. She used to kart with Pierre, Charles and Anthoine. Racing was not her passion however, she was always seen in the garages of Pierre, Anthoine and Charles, cheering them on at every race. Following the lost of her bestfriend, she left the racing scene and supported Pierre and Charles from the television screen. She made a return to the paddock this season sporting the Alpine colours of Pierre’s new team.

I like the result of their bond though meaning... AFTER… a ceremony… and. sex. Nene-chan does have dragon features, though only seen by others with some magic (like canon…)… and Amane+Tsukasa can now don human forms. So... I do have nothing against Edd/Eddy, but I will admit I would prefer the Eds to be brothers and platonic life partners. Specially because I feel platonic love is soooooo underrated on fanbases and media (specially between men) and everyone is just there for shipping. As a child I'd saw the Eds as the perfect example of platonic, brotherly love and it was so beautiful for me... so I grew up, entered on tumblr, I saw the show gay hints towards Edd/Eddy... and it's okay, I see where this is coming from, I can like it, but I still value platonic familiar love over romantic love.

Specially because male friends hardly can show affection towards each other without fans twisting this in ''something else'' or putting them together and it's so frustrating to me.

Dude and that’s fine! We can all have our own preferences and opinions on how we interpret the characters. I’m not going to try and sway you one way or another. Im just glad that you see the representation in it that resonates most with you, that’s what matters ❤️

One of my favorite things about the show is exactly the extreme closeness of the Eds. They have very few-to-no boundaries with each other (whether this is entirely healthy or not we can discuss another time). I live for the way they climb all over each other, smash faces, pile onto couches, hold each other trembling in fear, literally use a buddy as a chair, cry into the other friend’s shirt. They aren’t afraid to get real honest and ugly with each other: a testament to their unwavering bond. I’ve always felt the trio were platonic soulmates, a chosen family, however you want to put it.

So why even ship any Ed with another Ed at all? I’m never trying to negate the friendship at the core of the three Eds when I ship eddeddy. In fact I think that having this foundation of long-term friendship makes it that more interesting, and I’m sure for some fans out there, relatable. And you have to understand: I was once a queer teen scrounging for the crumbs of a queer youth romance story where, I don’t know, a character doesn’t DIE randomly or get sent to a conversion camp or whatever. Good times. So I like exploring this sort of subject matter with eddeddy. Just as much as I like exploring their combined and individual friendship(s)!

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

I made Temperance in concert with Val, so you're going to get a double whammy on this one haha. Val came to be because I was talking with friends about evil DnD campaigns and we ended up making a trio of evil characters, who grew into their own setting with a main city where they do their evil. I really like characters who are living weapons of a sort and I love playing with identity, so I quickly settled on the idea of a conman with a thousand faces, who ends up disappearing behind the masks. Who has no name, is nobody noteworthy, someone you would never spare a second glance if you saw them on the street, but who because of that can steal any face and fit in anywhere. That's still a core part of Val and what makes them scary, though actually writing it and exploring it can be a bit of a pain. But! We're here to talk about the queen bitch herself. IIRC, what first gave me the idea of Temperance was a specific suggesting in the Player Handbook entry about the Conman background. Correction: It was the Charlatan background. "I owe everything to my mentor - A horrible person who's probably rotting in jail somewhere". A living weapon style conman who struggles with identity and an awful teacher who made them into what they are and who they equally resent and thank for that?? listen this is catnip to me. how could you expect me to resist. So this is where Temperance came into being. I quickly ditched the idea of the mentor being in jail, because I wanted the option of her being an active threat. Then as time went on and the other two characters in the evil trio got more fleshed out, I wanted someone more... "actively evil" to match those two. Val is a follower, and I needed a leader. Temperance, then, is everything I love to hate. She is all about facades and pretense, about fitting into society and using their prejudices against them to get ahead. She sees pawns, rather than people, and only truly respects two (2) total people. also she's a hot dangerous lady who doesn't usually do her dirty work herself, now that she is rich and established enough she doesn't have to, but she still would poison you and watch with a pleasant smile as you choke on your own vomit so. like. i'm gay i'm not blind. hope you're not regretting your questions yet as i am incapable of being concise and it will probably not get better :D

✂️ SCISSORS - what is the “last straw” for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?

Haha. "How easily do they let go of people" extremely easily. Val was her most succesful project and arguably someone close to her and now that they've ran, she would still kill them without a second's thought for betraying her. If you want to be in Temperance's life on her terms, there are two rules: Adore her, and obey her. She tolerates no less, and she will not hesitate to drop you for a more willing toy if you don't have a secondary use for her. There are some rare exceptions, mainly Chal (one of the two OCs in the original evil campaign trio), but baseline? As much as lovebombing is a major facet of her emotional abuse, Temperance only cares about one person and it is herself. Anyone else is simply a means to an end and will be treated as such.

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

A queen. She is aware that will not happen and has settled for being a shadow queen, pulling her strings behind the scenes and watching everyone who thinks they're in control dance to her tune, but what she wants deep down is for everyone to know. To see her and see power, see influence, see control, see someone who will never ever be disrespected or fucked with.

📎 PAPERCLIP - a random fact.

I get to use a basic fact about her as a random fact cause you don't know her that well yet, score. Temperance is an albino (in her native setting, an albino tiefling), usually with a light pastel pink hair. She is also the reason Val still panics when they see someone with pink hair in a crowd or from a distance.

🚆 TRAIN - what is their answer to the trolley problem?

Pixel you are cruel. First answer and the aftermath: Cry, feel immensely guilty, panic, feel more guilty. She would choose to save more people but it would absolutely gut her and she would feel deeply personally responsible. Depending on the exact situation and the aftermath this is something that could break her as a character, or at least ruin her very very badly and take a long time and the right support to recover from In a philosophical classroom context: She honestly wouldn't be able to answer. Would be deeply uncomfortable with having to consider it too, and she would have to be very hard pressed to stop dodging it and actually pick one.

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

As a child she made a lot of bead bracelets and she would gift them to anyone nice. The town she’s from isn’t that big, so at one point almost everyone walked around with a colourful, Tanwen-made bead bracelet.

☄️ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?

When he’s lucky: Exactly what he wants them to.  That he’s annoying, that he’s an idiot, that he’s a little shit and he knows it. That he’s down to fuck, when they’re hot. 

Keiji tries very hard to give off an air that he’s untouchable, and he does that by leaning hard into being a bit of an asshole. He likes riling people up, likes getting a rise out of them, loves making fun of people who actually have morals and ideals. So he comes off as all those things, and he comes off as a guy who’s fun to get drunk with but not much else.

If you have an experienced eye you might spot how easily he keeps his balance even when wasted, or how alert he is to exits and entrances and anyone close to him, or how his slight build doesn’t quite hide the lean muscle, but to most folks he looks like nothing more than a small guy with a big attitude and a bigger mouth. He’s very happy to keep it that way right up until he kicks out their kneecaps.

❇️ SPARKLE - what is their most prized possession? what do they value?

okay now, see. i hate you. Keiji doesn’t really have material attachments. He likes stuff, he likes nice things, when he has the time and space to stay in one place for longer he immediately fills his whole bed with pillows. But in terms of a prized possession? There’s one thing that I suppose does count, and that’s from his native DnD verse. It’s an amulet with a symbol of Pelor,  the sun god the monastery is devoted to. He claims he still carries it so he can scam believers into giving him free stuff, but a part of him can’t bear to toss it. It holds the weight of a home he loved, once, where he thought he belonged and where he thought he had value, and even though all that is now ruined and broken and he should know better and he should just fucking toss the thing, he can never bring himself to.

Oh! And bonus round for GW2, in the main verse where Tahir is the commander and Keiji is his right hand (and eventually husband): When they were newly dating Tahir gave him one of his own leaves, encased in amber. Keiji wears it as an amulet and was wearing it when he was killed by Balthazar. It came with him into the realm of the Lost, and it is what reminded him of his name and his memories. In the physical world it split down the middle when Balthazar stabbed him, but when he comes back the amulet heals over too, and it now glows a faint blue to match his scar.

In general: Keiji doesn’t really value possessions. He tends to live lives where he can pick up and move at any moment. When he gets attached it’s to people

❤️ RED HEART - their love language(s)?

Words of affirmation and physical touch. The former to receive, the first to give. When Keiji falls he falls hard, but it’s hard for him to show it and harder to say it. It's easier to watch what he does. See where he stands in a room, see how he'll keep finding excuses to totally casually touch the person he likes, how he can't sit on a couch next to them without laying his feet in their lap or how he can't make a joke without looking to them first to see if they laughed.

Receiving physical touch is good for him too, but words are what makes him melt. Tell him what he means to you, tell him you care and he matters and he just fucking dies. It feels surreal and impossible and he can't bring himself to really believe it and that's what makes it all the more powerful to hear. Contrary to that, though, is that the immensity of it also makes him really likely to try and squirrel out of it. Deflecting compliments, sassing to distract attention away from the sweet thing they said, anything he can manage.

When it's deep enough in the relationship he can actually be made to sit down and listen and accept it without running, but that takes time. Before that, it takes some mild force or finagling. Am I talking about literally tying him up and distracting him with sex until he's soft and floaty enough to let his guard down and you can swoop in with the praise? Maybe. It's not an underhanded tactic if it works.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food?

The best thing you can do for Val is be there. Be close but don't crowd them, don't touch them unless they ask or initiate it, and always leave them an open room to escape. Talk, give them something to listen to and quietly chime in with when they start to feel better. Physical contact sometimes helps, but they'll ask for it if they want it and then it's usually sitting with their shoulder pressed against yours, or resting their head on you.

The one exception re: touch is their dog, Kaylie, who is very good at grounding them when they dissociate or start to. Do they sometimes also hug Kaylie pretending she's the human and wishing they could just be normal and hug the person they care about without feeling trapped? maybe.

If we're talking self-soothing, or things they do for comfort, there's baking. When they were still with Temperance, on very rare days where they had time off and there were ingredients to spare they would make cookies for the younger girls and those are some of the rare actually treasured memories they have. They still like baking cookies, and it's both a ritual and a comfort thing for them and what they tend to when someone they like is going through a tough time and they're not sure what they can do to help. When in doubt, make friend's favourite cookies and gift those.

A loved one in danger, absolutely. They try not to but they can have a bit of a self-sacrificial streak because, well, they can handle pain better than most people and if someone needs to suffer, it is better it's them than the people they love. Children being in danger or being mistreated too, there's no way they can stand by and watch that happen without trying to interfere.

hmm i would say i am a big fan of pastel colors! they are just so pretty and soothing to look at, and i especially love the color pink and blue! my top anime i would say is attack on titan. i’ve fallen in love with it at the beginning of this year because the storytelling and plot twists just blows me away. it has such a strong story and a great cast of characters. it’s kept me hooked from the beginning and the way isayama writes different relationships in the story just makes my heart cry 😭 ALSO ALL OF THE SOUNDTRACKS ARE SO GOOD

Hello!! 💞 Thank you so much, I'm so happy to know you like my drawings, it means a lot to me!!! 😍💞💞 I won't lie, I was really looking forward receiving a question like this 🤭 It's a very interesting and complex topic, so thank you again for giving me the opportunity to dwell on that.

What I've found in this one year I've been drawing them is that a lot of people like the Ame Oprhans. A lot! 🥰 A lot more than I'd ever have thought looking at fandom activity, and that makes me so happy! But what I can see is that, like many other great characters, a lot of people don't think about them until, well, they do. And I think there are many reasons for it...

The simplest answer, I think, is that there's not a lot of fanwork about the Ame Trio. Fanwork is the core of a fandom. There are stories I've only watched/read because of beautiful fanart. Fanfictions have made me fall in love with characters I never paid much attention to, or even made me like characters I never thought much about. Needless to dwell on the crucial role of art in fandom. It's the greatest thing we have.

Now, why are there not many fanworks about the Ame Orphans? The straightforward answer would be story pacing, I think. As big and important as the Pain Arc is, Naruto moved quickly on from that. The first part of Shippuden focuses on the Akatsuki and its mystery, and it "ends" with Nagato's death. Konan's arc, as much as I love the fact that she has an arc of her own, was a lonely short arc kind of lost between greater arcs, not to mention her existence was completely forgotten by the characters after her death. I don't mean to imply I'd write the story better than Kishimoto, but Nagato's and Konan's flashbacks feel much stronger and more emotional if you read them in sequence... and maybe the story would have hit harder like that. Maybe more of us would remember the Pain Arc if the YahiKona kiss was followed by the sight of Yahiko's terrorized look when he sees Konan being held hostage by his enemy. How would it feel to see Nagato becoming the Akatsuki's leader after he says he believes Yahiko is the one true leader? Isn't Nagato's lack of desire in being leader a crazy contrast to Naruto's Hokage ambition? (Again, I love that Konan has an arc of her own and I'd never change that, but Nagato's story feels much stronger when you know who Yahiko is and Konan isn't a mute character by his side!)

Still. I don't think that's the real reason why. Personally, and this may sound crazy since I love them, I think they're not "attractive" in the sense of what makes most characters classicaly attractive. They are, of course, incredibly interesting and complex in their particular ways, but I feel that as a team they're not as full of "possibilities" as Naruto's Team 7/Obito's Team 7/Hashirama, Madara and the whole Senju-Uchiha ordeal.

Now, this is probably where the answer gets interesting:

First of all, Pain's Arc just hits different - not better or worse than other arcs, but different. It was designed to be different, because Pain's role as a character is to make Naruto grow up. He was never the story's final villain - as Nagato himself jokes, Naruto and him are brothers. Pain comes to him as a teacher, that's why he is so different than all the other villains.

Pain is an antagonist, obviously, but he's not hateful. He's not cruel, not in that entertaining why other villains are. Unlike other charming characters, Konan and Pain are not sarcastic, or spiteful, they don't have an attitude, you don't really laugh at them when they're on screen. We don't laugh once during an entire arc of the plot - and it's Naruto, for god's sake! The Pain Arc is sad. Kishimoto even kills a dog, as if only to make sure we'll get have our hearts crushed. And not only is the Pain Arc sad, it is realistic - maybe too realistic. There's no drama between Nagato, Konan and Yahiko - they don't have daily issues like both Teams 7s had. Their drama is political, and not in the personal way Hashirama and Madara's political issues were. The Ame trio's drama is existencial. Philosophycal. It's a lot to take in. Of course everyone likes different things, but if you look at characters who tend to be popular across different types of media, it's not usually characters like the Ame Trio. Even Kishimoto himself finds the arc painful (no put indended, lol).

Naruto is a story full of paralels, each generation echoes the generation that came before - Naruto, Obito, Jiraiya, Hashirama, Asura. Nagato and Naruto are "brothers", students of the same master, and Kishimoto creates the Ame Trio to show that Nagato was just like Naruto - a protagonist of his own story. But when he does that, he breaks almost all the "generational trends" of the other teams.

These being:

1) Rivarly. The rivarly of Naruto vs Sasuke, Obito vs Kakashi, Hashirama vs Madara are all paralels - but there's no Nagato vs Yahiko. It's actually the complete opposite. Not only do they not compete against each other, they also don't want to be "Leaders" like at least one half of the other rival duos wanted. In fact, Nagato and Yahiko keep "yielding" the Akatsuki's Leader position to each other, thinking the other deserves more. Story-wise, it makes a lot of sense for them not to be rivals, since their main goals were helping each other survive. 2) Love triangle. Naruto loves Sakura who loves Sasuke who's too busy with his own stuff trauma. Obito loves Rin who loves Kakashi who's too busy with his own stuff trauma². Jiraiya loves Tsunade who doesn't care for a pervert loves Dan. Yahiko loves Konan who loves Yahiko who are both loved and supported by Nagato. Not a lot of beef to work with here (a lot of potential for wholesome works, though). 3) Love "loose ends" - a bit of a continuation from Point 2, but the "What if?" of love is probably one of the most compelling things to daydream about. The implication of love is usually just as, if not more, interesting that the confirmation of love itself. Sometimes a mere exchange of glances or choice of words sends us fans absolutely insane. And the thing is, Yahiko and Konan don't have a "loose end" - they're canon. Whether they ever became a couple or just kept on being friends who kissed once is up to us, but they did act on their reciprocated feelings for each other. (Of course by the end of the series other ships became official... but SS/NH were shipped long before that). Shipping a canon couple is working with what you already have... which isn't always as fun as working what you could have. 4) The Angst factor. The Ame Orphans had horrible lives. No question about that. I think few things are as soul-wrecking as the fact that Konan had to live with the reanimated corpse of the friend she loved. But prior to Yahiko's death, everything was pending to be more "good than bad" in my opinion. They were a little family. They loved each other. They did great things with the little that they had. They didn't inflict pain (directly or indirectly) on each other, like a lot of the other trios have issues and unresolved matters and dramas (some of these relationships are entire amazing arcs just by themselves). 5) Lastly, the Sassy Sauce. The Ame trio are much more serious characters. Of course we have Yahiko, basically an "angrier and realer" version of Naruto, we have Konan the Goth Queen and Nagato's acid remarks... but humour isn't the story's forte. It was never supposed to be. Their story is about socio-politics, economy and philosophy. Yahiko and Konan bickering, and the "love letter" little drama in the anime is the closest we have to the humour most other Naruto arcs usually have plenty.

So, I do think they're less "complex" as a team. There's less space for dwelling on their personal dramas as people, on their conflict, because as friends, - not rivals, not secret crushes, but friends - they're very simple. They needed to team up to survive - mutual support is the core of their relationships. The Ame Orphans are literally "Us vs The World" - their issues are not daily occurances, or their feelings towards each other, or their matters unresolved, which makes for a very different story that what the other trios have. Even if Obito's main motivation is the Tsuki no Me, he clearly has issues with Kakashi, Madara has them with Hashirama, Sasuke with Naruto. They're much more personal than the Ame Trio was. Yahiko's death was a turning point of Nagato and Konan, but Yahiko's ideals seemed to matter even more.

And that's not worse, not better, just different.

And if you take the fact they completely stand out from the "trio pattern", the fact that the story moved on quickly from the Pain Arc/Konan's death and, the fact that their story always hits so hard everytime, the lack of "relatable-angst" and add on top of it all the fact that there's not a lot of fanwork, I guess it makes sense that they're overlooked.

Socio-political drama happens to be my favourite type of plot, but I'd be lying if I said that I don't miss villains making sassy remarks or heroes beating the shit out of the bad guys. I guess that's what makes Naruto so great; there's something for every mood. The fact that Pain's Arc is so dark and somber only makes other arcs stand out, which makes the story even richer.

The Ame Trio has a lot of potential in many parameters; world-building wise, their country (Amegakure!!!!), the politics, first generation Akatsuki - not to mention all the AUs where somehow Yahiko survives and this alone completely changes Naruto as we know, since Nagato and Konan would be heroes (like they were in the start!). So much to think about! You don't have a lot of friend's drama or love drama like other stories, but can you image a world where Yahiko is the Amekage and Konan is his advisor, or maybe leader of their Ninja School? A world where a poor abused nation suddenly has Nagato of the Rinnegan, the Reincarnated Sage?

"Everone has bijuu? Cool. We have Sage of the Six Paths 2.0." Lol!

Seriously. Just. Oh. My. God. Imagine how this impacts all the other nations. All the characters we know. Just imagine it.

I have talked a lot but, just to wrap it up... in the same way fanarts and fanfictions have made me fall in love with characters and ships I had never realized were actually amazing and beautiful, I sincerely hope more people will find themselves endeared by the Ame Orphans as well, once they have the opportunity to get to know this side of the story.
