Stop feeding the algorithm

If you hesitate over a POST for just a spilt second longer, the algorithm picks up on that. Then they send you another post just like it.

Let's say a video about jealousy, if you do the same thing again --- hesitate just for a second, even if you eventually click thumbs down, it knows/thinks that's what you secretly want.

The algorithm has one job in mind keeping you engaged not making you a better person.

Can we talk about the YT algorithm?

Okay, so we all know how harmful and addictive the TikTok algorithm can be. It's the og. But can we talk about the YouTube shorts algorithm for a bit? Like, at least the TikTok feed learns your taste and preferences and shows you more of those kinds of videos. But with my experience over the past few months of scrolling through YT Shorts, I see SO MUCH far-right conspiracy and anti-LGBT content coming through every time I decide to mindlessly scroll through the shorts feed. Being someone who only follows left-leaning content creators on YouTube and is a part LGBT community, the only content I like and engage with are things that align with my beliefs, but I'm still getting an influx of this content. Then I started disliking and clicking "don't show content from this creator" and that hasn't helped in any form.

I KNOW there are left-leaning communities on YouTube. But why am I not seeing any of them in the feed? Is anyone else seeing this pattern or am I cursed?

spending time with tumblr's "for you" page sure makes me appreciate tiktok's fyp algorithm all the more. i never get content that's talking trash about the thing i like/am interested in on tiktok. it happens all the time on tumblr. nothing like the "if you like x ship and you're on my page go kill yourself" for the ship you like, getting served up right in front of your face.

(though it is giving me the opportunity to report them to tumblr for community guideline/tos violation)

also, tumblr, if i have something in my filtered tags/words list, maybe don't put it on the fyp for you? just a thought. it's still filtered, but being that the content there is algorithmically selected, it seems.... reasonable to me that you'd exclude those.

i literally don’t understand tiktok’s algorithm. i run an edit account on there and while my first 2 posts (which was a byler and el edit) that i made ranged 600-700 views, my posts after that dropped from a max of 300 views to a minimum of 20. i don’t understand if i’m doing something wrong or what 💀 it’s not that i care a whole lot about views/likes but it can be a bit unmotivating, especially since i’m proud of a lot of the edits i make and put a lot of time into them. some of my friends suggest deleting and reposting the vid so that’s what i’m about to do now. hopefully it changes something.
