The way season one had Marina staying home with a “mysterious illness” that wasn’t actually illness, she was just pregnant and the Featheringtons were dealing with how to handle her situation, and how later on Penelope pretended to be sick so her mother would let her stay home from a ball, and how in season two, Lady Danbury warned Kate to be careful or she would catch a chill… I can’t help but feel like someone is going to be very sick in season three. I think it’s going to be Penelope and since the show is taking place in the 1800’s, it’s entirely likely that they’ll have her so sick that Colin and Eloise are afraid she might die because medicine was very different then.
Unlike the way Anthony couldn’t bring himself to visit Kate when she was injured for fear she might die, I think Colin will refuse to leave Penelope’s side.
**Book spoiler**
The show could use a sweeping illness in England to explain Marina’s death and end the season with news from Sir Philip as a lead into Eloise’s love story.

Eloise is definitely not ready for her season.
Apologies anon, for not answering this sooner. But I didn't just want to give a short answer like the one above. And over the weeks I've worked out another reason why Eloise shouldn't be S4.
Show Eloise, doesn't have the capacity to emotionally support Phillip and the manifestations of his trauma.
Basically I've been writing this piece about married Benophie that revolves around how Sophie’s trauma manifests itself within their married life, (in big ways and small) and how Benedict copes with this. E.g. Sophie being triggered by dropping something, or her first Christmas with the Bridgertons. For this I’m drawing on my knowledge both personal and professional and something really struck me.
To support someone with trauma you need empathy, patience, emotional intelligence and humility. You’re never going to get everything right, but having such skills will help. (yes empathy/patience etc. is a skill it is not an inherent trait).
You need patience when the one you love is being overwhelmed by their past or their emotions.
You need empathy to understand the root to some of their actions, how your loved one might not be lashing out at you but at something that links to their trauma.
You need emotional intelligence to work out the best way to emotionally support your loved one.
You need humility to realise that you might get things wrong, or that you might be contributing to the problem and need to shift the way you do things to accommodate.
And so much more, and in so many other ways.
And bless Eloise Bridgerton—she ain’t got many of these…yet.
Eloise is intelligent, yes, she is passionate and loyal and protective of her loved ones…but not when it comes to emotions. We actually see a lack of this when it comes to Eloise who is impatient, can’t empathise with other’s struggles and always likes to have the last word.
Yet Eloise, like Benedict, is going to love and support not only a traumatised man, but also two traumatised children. She ain't ready for that...But she can be.
Giving Eloise two seasons will allow her to soften, not only become a better feminist who respects all women’s dreams, but also to become someone who will be able to support Phillip. She can learn empathy by trying to put herself in Penelope’s shoes in S3. She can learn empathy from Sophie in S4. She can learn patience when she starts publishing her Whistledown column/novel. Purely having two seasons will allow the writers to quietly show Eloise maturing in general, as one does with age.
Ofcourse during her season this maturing comes to the fore when she is faced with Phillip and the twins. Here shall be the biggest learning curve for her, however, allowing S3&4 to build some groundwork for this will help ensure that viewers do not feel as if ShowEloise is being shoved into a role she does not suit.
And meanwhile…
Benedict has shown emotional intelligence and empathy on the show. Benedict is a classic caretaker-with-a-capital-C. He already has the temperament to help Sophie emotionally heal from her trauma during, and after, their season. Yes, he needs to learn to get into conflict and fight for the one he loves, but ultimately, he’s ready.
So yes, Eloise is not ready for her season because she needs to develop her feminism and to understand the full scale of her privilege. But she also needs to grow emotionally to ensure the viewer can believe Eloise is right for Phillip--and we as a viewer need to be patient for that to happen...

"There are times when I still wonder about you
You are someone I have loved but never known
And you'll never see the reasons I had
For keeping my claws away when they were close enough to hurt you
I am selfish, I am broken, I am cruel
I am all the things they might have said to you"

Fanfic Request--again
So, this one's Philoise. Did I spell that ship right?
Anyway, this is an idea by Gina Scarcella Narayan (a fellow Bridgerton fan) and me. Her idea, originally, and I just inserted my own and then she inserted hers and this idea for what's going to happen to show!Eloise's season came about.
Gina: The show follows roughly the same plot but with changes, especially to make each season different from the previous. I think what may happen is if Eloise is still angry at Penelope and they don't reconcile this season that she starts writing to Marina instead as she may want to confide with someone who was also "ruined" by Penelope and gets her contact details from Colin (he wouldn't know what she is writing about). They go back and forth with letters etc and as Penelope and Colin get together and announce this to the family/Eloise, she becomes angry with them (especially if Colin knows she's Whistledown), and runs away to see Marina.
(Okay, maybe not run away. She asked to visit an aunt near Marina and Phillip's home or if she's allowed, visit Marina's home and stayed there, if it's appropriate)
Me: Marina is still alive when Eloise gets to their house, they interacted, she told Marina about Penelope's betrayal (or don't tell her if it's OOC of Eloise), and Marina received the news with nonchalance. Phillip is happy that his wife have someone else to talk to, everything is alright and then, bam, Marina jumped to the Lake (as sometimes, people who unalive themselves look normal, happy, but would unalive themselves the next day, for example, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park). Phillip saw and saved her. Eloise and Phillip nursed her while she was sick with pneumonia. They are both devastated when Marina died. Phillip shut himself with his plants. Feeling guilty for opening Marina's wounds and reminding her of the past, Eloise takes it upon herself to take care of her friend's kids because their step-dad wasn't there for them. She stayed for the kids, it's not like Phillip is around anyway. She gave Phillip the what for after a while tho.
When the ABC bros learned that Marina died--preferably after a month or so, through Pen. The Crane's solicitor could have contacted Portia--who told Penelope in passing after a while, being considerate of her daughter, who is still in her honeymoon, for once--since Phillip is uselessly ambling about, forgetting his duties, wallowing in sorrow--they confronted Eloise and Phillip. That's where the brothers beat up Phillip. Eloise told them nothing happened, with the maids and footmen and other servants in the house swearing up and down that what they were saying is true.
Gina: The brothers just shrug it all under the rug because no one else knows, and Phillip is "forbidden" to see her, and so they write letters (it could start if he's struggling with the kids now that she's gone and asks her opinions?). Then they would realise that they love each other and start trying to get together. Ohh, it might even work out that they meet up at the masked ball where Sophie & Benedict meet? Depends when they want to throw that in to get his story going too.
Me: If there's someone who could convince ABC that she was not compromised, it's Eloise. Anthony would be harder to convince tho as he wants his sister to marry. But! If B and C are on Eloise's side, your idea could happen.
___
So, that's the gist of it. Throw some Theo angst there if you want. Please tag me if you're gonna write it, pretty please? Gina and I would be waiting and would be so, so grateful.

To Sir Phillip With Love. Julia Quinn
It is actually the 2nd time I read it. But I desperately needed a book that I new I would like. You know this feeling when you read a book and something is off: it is not like it is terrible, but it is just … okay. So, it was a first time ever for me rereading. And thaaaank god for that decisions.
My head was consumed with the story (even though I knew the outcome, I still forgot like 80% of everything). And I want to give the proper honours to the author! Julia Quinn is the master of building up tension, storylines. And I just love the character progression with my whole heart. I always thought of this book as a story of contracts (female/masculine perspective, introverted/extroverted sides of Eloise and Philip, growing/exploding, low-emotions/boiling with feelings).
The book:
Honourable mentions, to inner monologues of characters. It allows to connect to the characters on a new level (like you’re under their skin, if it makes sense).
The book:
so thank you JQ for an opportunity to write a longer review (finally), as your books were my gateway books to the genre.
(This book is not even my favourite of JQ, if I get to reread my favourites, the reviews will be in order, dah ). Cannot wait to see depiction of this book, and what they will change and leave to show people.
