My Hero Academia x A Certain Magical Index crossover, Rated G, 2.6k, chapter 1 of ??

Summary: Bakugou Katsuki is expecting a very unpleasant call home the morning after he and Deku are caught kicking the crap out of each other. He's expecting to sit there arguing until he and his mother both lose their voices and his father is forced to step in before things get out of hand. What Katsuki is not expecting is a phone call at the crack of dawn from his tearful, frantic parents demanding to know why they've received a call from a hospital three cities away informing them that their son has been shot. Accelerator isn't expecting much the morning after he first chose to save someone's life rather than take it. Well, that's a lie; he's expecting not to see the morning, seeing as he was shot and left for dead like some common no name thug. He's not expecting the girl he saved to be helping him back to his feet, and he's definitely not expecting the haggard man claiming something impossible. (in which a boy striving to be the #1 Hero and a monster known as the strongest esper in the world discover a previously unknown blood connection)

Summary: Ghost are not real. At least, they're not supposed to be but there he was floating over there with no absolute care in the world. Kuroko sighs, if only her Imagine Breaker can destroy him.

(An au where instead of Kamijou Touma its Kuroko Shirai that has the IB)

As stated its a story about a Shirai Kuroko and instead of being as the perverted (concerningly sooo) teleporter and a law abidding judgement enforcer! She's now living the life of Kamijou Touma and being the sole user of, you guess it, Imagine Breaker! Now she finds herself with a gluttonous nun and an annoying Ghost by her side, what ever will happen to her so called normal life now?!

Its a fun little au created by yours truly ( Me) in effort to sate my desire to see a Kuroko centric story and yes it very self indulgent and yes it can be seen as a fix it fic! but in only one side! the other I don't really know, already removing Touma in the world is what's making the dynamics fucky.

Side characters thare rarely used? Well now you're gonna see it used.

Girls only being there as a love interest?! *Incorrect buzzer noises* They're now there with their own goals and character arcs!

Kuroko still being a loser? Wellll..

A friendship between Kamijou and Kuroko!? YEP THERE ARE ALL THERE!!

It Wasn’t Easy

Summary: It wasn't easy to just sit back and watch. It wasn't easy to watch her walk away. It wasn't easy to see her go off on her own, putting herself in danger. She isn't going to let her get away with it. Kuroko just wants her to understand...

"You don't seem to understand..."She begins. She's sitting up against the dorm room door, knees to her chest, arms and chin resting on them. She hopes this position will keep the other girl from running. "Do you consider me to be your friend?"

"Of course I do-" Misaka answers from her position near the window. She had been looking out, trying to keep from drowning in the heavy silence that had encompassed the room, she now looks at her younger friend, concerned.

"A close friend? The kind of friend that feels like family?" Kuroko's expression and tone haven't changed. Both are still flat and emotionless. She's hurt.

"Kuroko... of course I do!" The older girl looks down, tears begin gathering. She doesn't like this.

"Then why do you keep doing this? Going off on your own?" Kuroko's eyes have finally moved from their blank downward stare, bringing an intense, fiery gaze to meet her friend's.

"I don't want you guys to get hurt because of me. Because of the messes I make..."

"And if we did the same? Wouldn't you have wanted to help any of us?"

"Kuroko, it's different."

"Because you're a Level 5?"

"..."

"Even Level 5's aren't invincible Misaka." This is the first time Kuroko has called her by her name since they became roommates. Misaka is beginning to understand the depth of her hurt. 'But it doesn't matter, in fact it just strengthens my resolve. She'd do anything for me, die for me even. So that means that I have to keep her out of it.'

"..." Kuroko frowns.

"Tell me, what happens when you get in over your head and none of us even knew that there was something to help with in the first place? What happens when you charge in, not telling any of us, and get hurt. What happens if you get killed. Then the rest of us will be guilty of not helping you. The despair... What happens when you don't make it home the next morning. And I didn't know where you had gone, what you were doing, not a clue what was going on. What happens when we get word that you've gone off and gotten yourself killed when we could've helped?" Kuroko is crying now, almost yelling. Misaka is close to sobbing, pulling herself into a similar position as the younger girl and trying to stem her tears in the crook of her elbow.

"You're not alone, Misaka! So don't act like it." Kuroko shouted, she's suddenly standing, right in front of Misaka. "Or one day you'll find yourself looking around and realising that the people you were trying to protect? Aren't around you to be protected anymore. One day you'll find that you've pushed them too far. One day, you really will be alone. And then what's the point in fighting anyway?

"I told you that I would never abandon you, that's true. And I won't. But there's not much I can do if you abandon me first. It's not about one protecting the other, it's all about protecting each other. Give and take, and if you only give and won't let us give in return then there is nothing-" Kuroko is cut off by a sob. Neither is truly sure which one of them it was, but just as suddenly as Kuroko was standing in front of her, Misaka was up and pulling Kuroko into a violent, crushing, desperate hug.

"I'm sorry." She manages through a sob. "Please don't leave me." Kuroko heaved a heavy sigh as she returns the hug, resigned that she never really would leave this girl, the one that she loves with all her heart. Maybe she's a bit disappointed in herself for it, and she's definitely still angry at Misaka, but her heart makes her weak for this girl. Kuroko spends so much time being strong, so much time not caring for herself in favour of caring for others. Maybe she's a bit of a hypocrite for telling Misaka all of these things, but... 'Goddamnit Sissy... if you died I would die with you. You can't just...'

"I won't leave if you won't."

Misaka sobs into the younger girls shoulder. All of the horrors she'd seen throughout, all of the sickening, gnawing guilt, and the nauseating sense of responsibility, it all starts to catch up to her. 'Kuroko... do I really deserve such devotion from you?' It's not the first time Misaka had wondered that. She's always shrugged it off though, Kuroko certainly isn't perfect so she hadn't ever felt the need to put much thought into it. 'But I've put her in so much pain, I can feel it in her arms, hear it in her voice, taste it in her tears...'

"I won't! I won't, I won't, I won't, I won't, please." Kuroko shushes her and hugs her tighter.

"You know I won't." Kuroko sighs again. Her love for the girl would never allow her to leave. Despite what she had said, Kuroko knew that, even if her sissy ever did truly abandon her, she herself would never stop trying, never stop loving, never leave. But maybe this would be a wake up call. Maybe this would be enough. Kuroko had to believe that it would be. She had to believe. Or she would fall apart. And she couldn't afford that now.

It has to be enough.

The Thing with Shipping

Every fan goes through this phase in their lives when they see a romance bloom right before their eyes. Be it a live show, an animated series or a scenario found in a book, the Fandom loves to see their favorite characters being together and its a little thing called, Shipping.

[No, we’re NOT talking about actual ships]

In case if you are still confused, the word Shipping/Ship is a slang for - playing matchmaker between two characters based on the media we consume.

No matter if its a Heterosexual ship or a Queer ship. The very act of paring up characters in fiction or live action (though that can be quite questionable) is part of the extension of the medium and is mostly harmless.

- I’d Ship Them! -

Since discovering the culture through DeviantArt. There are a several types of ships in existence. Granted, this isn’t an official list but in general. There are a total of four different types of ships. While the names may vary, they are as follows.

The first is the Canon ship. These ships are either hinted or confirmed after in the show itself as a conclusion. Found in most stories, a lot of canon ships will go as far as to show the characters getting married on screen and have children to declare its official status. As seen in #Hiccstrid.

Some canon ships can also be background characters that has openly admit that they are in fact, lovers. A fine example would be #Harumichi (Sailor Moon).

Next is the Non-Canon ship, a type that is just as popular as the latter. While only hinted or played for fan service in the show, these non-canon ships creates small developments for side characters or one off characters to find romance.

As an excuse to mention Toaru once again, my favorite non-canon ship as of now is #Frenten (Saten X Frenda). On the other side, there is Avatar’s #Zutara (Zuko X Katara).

Depending on who you ask, the next type is called a Cracked ship or Crossover ship. As the name implies, these ships are as Gigguk puts it, a “Cultural Cross Pollination” between characters from different shows. Such popular ships are the likes of [Jack Frost X Elsa], [Wilbur Robinson and Violet Parr] and my personal favorite, [Jim Hawkins and Ariel] These ships are known as the ultimate power couple and is often matched up thanks to the various traits they share.

Last but not least, Self-insert ships. Ah yes, a reader’s wet dream for being with a character they love so very much that they want to be with them. These self-insert fanfictions exist within the mind of the reader where they get to interact with a beloved character from friendship to a relationship.

- Shipping is Hard -

In most mediums, romance is a sub-plot rather than the main plot. There are exceptions to specifically Romance stories where the ship is up front and center of attention, found mostly in school settings or work life. Several shows would also extend on this idea with an already established couple to deal with the growing pains of dating while maintaining their social circles.

As producers, the writers have full creative control to write the characters the way they wanted. In some cases, there is also the potential where executives could interfere with the process to make or break a ship. (mostly to break) However, I have more interest over the communal aspect of shipping culture.

Within the shipping community, some fans get a little...too aggressive with their vocal opinion. For a start, there is this strange obsession with shooting down other fans with “trash” taste in ships. A good example of this is <RWBY> though granted, other fanbases also share the same problem. (Sorry <RWBY> fans, May you Rest in Peace Monty Oum)

Its fanbase is perhaps the most overzealous when it comes to a ship they agree or disagree with. This idea of being protective or aggressive over a fictional couple is found in a lot of forums and unfortunately, they can leave a bad impression to onlooking viewers.

To be fair, I am a bit of a romantic junkie. Any ship is completely fine by me so long as its a healthy, supportive and wholesome relationship. (My favorite is #nutsanddolts if you are curious) However, it has also come to my attention that the issue of “ship baiting” is littered throughout various fanbases.

This issue of “shipping for shipping sake” is quite a problem for representation and it can ruin a ship’s popularity. For a start, I strongly believe that a character has to be a character first before addressing their preferences and love interest. While the issue is found in a lot of early queer characters, I for one think that heterosexual characters are just as guilty with this problem.

Just to point it out, while I like #renora, I can’t help but feel that it was one sided and seemed to be in a stalemate since Volume 6. It was hard for me to root for them and see them be an official couple because it just felt unearned. Similarly, I love the hell out of the ship; #bumbleby it too suffered from a rather lackluster development and was again, placed in a stalemate after the backlash. I have no clue what happened in Volume 8, But I am eagerly waiting for its completion to binge.

Most of <RWBY>’s non-canon or canon ships have fleshed out characteristics and meaningful ship growth that I really like. Also, the fanarts/fan comics are great. But to create toxic behaviors such as gatekeeping and maliciously fighting with other fans over which ship is better or worst is silly. Adding on, threatening the writers or actors over the execution of the ship will add more harm than good. We are free to share how we feel about the relationship in forums but to overstep criticizing to hurting someone over such a subject is dangerously unhealthy.

Shipping is (again) meant to be fun but this “you’re either with us or against us” mentality keeps others away for joining the topic and it truly blows.

- #Me X Favorite Character -

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I ship my Hogwarts Mystery MC; Sadie mac Lir with the ever so lovely; Penny Haywood. However, there has been a recent incident that caused quite an uproar within this small community and that involves this picture.

Self insert fan fiction is as old as any traditional media can go. The first of them all ironically is <The Divine Comedy> by Dante Alighieri where he gets to watch his enemies burn and suffer in hell while also being able to go on a road trip with his favorite Senpai (senior) Virgil. (I’m paraphrasing here)

With fictional characters, there’s this idea where one can SIMP for them like as if they are real people which is a good start to understanding self-insert fanfics. For context, the word Simp/Simping means - the willingness to do anything/ everything to win over or please their idols or subject of affection.

However, a Resident Waifulogist once wisely said;

No matter if you want to hear it or not, these characters are NOT real. Because they can’t be real. Self-insert fanfiction works because its between the writer and the character. While it may sound very creepy to outsiders, it is purely just for fun wishful thinking. Regardless if its a lovely Waifu, (Insert my love for Misaka Mikoto here) or a hunky Husbando or a...Pony.

Your love for the character you like can only go as far.

You can praise the actor who portrayed the character, do fan art/fan fiction of them, buy merch related to them, declare them as your favorite in forums but you will never be able to HAVE them.

But back to Penny, what do I think? Well, if anyone knows the lore of the game, Penny was Talbott’s first friend. Given that Penny got him out of his shell. It would be very sensible to put them together in a Non-Romantic way. In fact, I like it! Just because they are dancing, doesn’t mean they are together. They are two magical folks who are good friends that can hug and dance together, there’s nothing wrong with that.

The problem with Self-inserts is that, while some are just writing or drawing for good fun and practice on skill. The obsessive types will go as far as to pay for an actual version of the character, or even fight with people that disagree with their taste making a bad name for the fanbase.

To justify by jabbing myself, while I have openly declared that I love Misaka Mikoto. A real life Tsundere will be a terrible idea. The fact that she is a walking taser gun with ten times the volts, a violent tendency and has the ability to kill with an actual railgun on her FINGERTIPS. Sounds incredibly dangerous.

- Everything Wrong with Shipping -

So, where do we go from here? While I know that this post is one big hunk of mess for anyone who had better things to do rather than argue about what shipping is then devolve into topics about Simping. I want to make it abundantly clear.

I have no issues with anyone who ships couples and Simps for a fictional character. I, for one am one of you.

What I have a big problem with is this toxic behavior of arguing and fighting over someone that doesn’t exist and taking things way too far. The culture of liking a fictional character or fictional ship is meant to be fun and meant to be enjoyable among the community. We can have disagreements and differences. That is completely fine, there is no need to get violent. That is also what makes it fun! Regardless of where and which fanbase one comes from, these toxic behaviors are found anywhere and it has to stop.

This post probably won’t reach far because I would offend a lot of people but I can put this to rest knowing that I’ve journaled down my thoughts on the matter and sleep in peace.

i just read fanfiction where jaune get transferred to another world at the end of salem. the jaune is older and stronger. and the interaction to other mc is like good older brother and teacher. and this make me think few worlds, for example “my hero academia” what if jaune train deku not all might.

for this happen, i think only the quirksless can unlock aura and semblance. someone that have quirks can’t have aura. while aura isn’t as strong as one for all. but is more stable. also izuku can train harder thank to healing factor and jaune semblance. this make me wonder. what semblance will izuku get.

the next world is “demon slayer” for this. all other characters doesn’t have aura. and jaune i don’t know should he learn breathing techniques or not. i don’t want make jaunet too overpower.

maybe “the shield of the rising hero” or “toaru majutsu no index” or “blue exorcist”. i want the crossover where the mc goes around the world or isn’t too overpower. for jaune, while he is strong but not to overpower at that world standards. also why i like jaune get transfer to another world and not anyone else like ruby. because his semblance is op so he can keep up and his have the largest aura reserve in remmant. and his weapons is just a sword and shield. so he doesn’t need ammo for his weapon. also he can recreated few other semblance. like ruby super speed. just boost his speed. or yang super strength. boost his strength. at least he can competent with the enemy on that world.

i just thought of this idea just now. and i like this idea. maybe later i think the full summary and the lore. but now. to busy.

also for pairing. either a older woman or girl that doesn’t have pairing. i don’t like harem from other world. on his own world, maybe. not from his world, big no. (that including izuku midoriya. that doesn’t mean i hate him,no. but i just get annoyed that everyone make all girl just fall in love with him just see his universe or he see them. so he have giant harem. i see so much of this that it make me hate harem from other world or harem in general. why can’t just make normal reactions where the people that watch just amaze or motivated to become strong!!!. izuku midoriya isn’t from your own universe dammit. also i just like izuku have 1 or 2 partner(i also hate harem where the girl fall in love for no reason)) i like slow relationships, where we can see the hardships between the two. slowly they trust each other, they have been friends for while and slowly fall in love, and they accept each other flaw.

E - If you wrote a sequel to The Final Glow of Afterglow, what would it be about?Spoiler alert: I am not planning to write a sequel to it at all. In the off chance that I do… I would probably focus the oneshot on events and the characters right after the events of The Final Glow of Afterglow. As in… how the characters try to cope after what happened in that story (described in such a way that it doesn’t spoil the contents of the oneshot… too much).

F - Care to share a favorite hurt/comfort fic?Hm… Red Ribbon is categorized as “Angst”, so… while not categorized as “Hurt/Comfort”, I would probably have to say that that would be Modern Fairytale by Athyra over on FFN (Watanabe You x Sakurauchi Riko from Love Live! Sunshine!!)

H - How would you describe your style?Nowadays, I try to guide my readers by showing them and hinting at what is going on rather than giving it to the readers on a silver platter like what I did when I first started out. I make my readers think about what really happened, as I try to make sure that nothing is what it seems to be.

I - Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?Not really.

U - A pairing you might like to write for, but haven’t tried yet.All of the pairs for the BanG Dream! franchise that includes two girls from different bands. Of these, the ones that stand out the most are arguably either Ako or Rinko with Moca, Tomoe and Sayo, or even Saaya and Misaki.

From Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, that would most definitely be Saten Ruiko and (I know you haven’t seen her yet) Frenda Seivelun.

16. What plot twist shocked you the most so far?

That Shinichi actually managed to confess in London tbh. /shot

But really, that probably is what has actually surprised me most to this point. Other moments have been exciting, yes, but not in a way I’d describe as a plot twist. Closest would be Kid’s involvement in the Mystery Train, but since Gosho has backpedaled hard on that and made clear that Kid won’t be in involved with the DC plot that much again, any potential there was killed for me. A surprise that goes absolutely nowhere and was basically ‘Kid was a good tool to use at that point but it didn’t mean anything’.

So in terms of ‘I never expected that’ for something that went somewhere, it does have to be the confession and the fact Gosho let it actually be a thing. Because with him, I genuinely didn’t know if it might be brushed off as if nothing happened or some excuse made to keep the status quo.

19. If you could revive any one of the deceased characters, who would it be?

Nightmare. For DC… probably Matsuda. The main issue with reviving dead characters is that most dead characters left an impact that would be lessened if they were alive, and if he were brought back, it’d mess with Satou’s story. So… if I could, then it’d be him, though I more likely wouldn’t.

Seriously though, for MK, Nightmare, he could have been near death and in a coma and it’d have the same impact since his death apparently means nothing, and if it doesn’t mean anything, why let him die and leave it on a sad as heck note? Instead, the one person whose death is a major part of the story is the one that’s going to be erased. When almost every other death in MK has been unnecessary since there are no consequences, the one that meant something–

25. Have you ever sympathised with a murderer’s motive? If so, which one?

I sympathize with a lot. Would I kill people if I were in the same situation? I have no idea. I don’t know what it feels like to be heavily manipulated or at the end of my rope, but I feel like I have more sympathy for some of the murderers than most people. As much as I agree with the whole ‘cool motive, still murder’ concept, I feel like the way people use it is extremely problematic. No one is ever in the other person’t shoes, and can never entirely be. Even if you live in similar situations, different people will think differently, experience things differently, and no, not everyone can see that there was something obvious to do and move on.

Most of the time with sympathetic cases, the crime comes with desperation. Those people are then called idiots and things are wrapped up and the story moves on, and it always rubs me the wrong way how it’s handled. Yes, they need to be brought to justice, but they were in a situation that likely couldn’t be handled by anyone or told to anyone and have everything work out nicely. Going to the police doesn’t always help if there’s nothing they could feasibly do. Don’t just say ‘they did bad’. Don’t just make it like they’re the only one possibly at fault. I just want more sympathy cases written where the sentiment is ‘I’m sorry this happened to you, but you still need to face the consequences of your own actions’ and not ‘you were an idiot for resorting to murder’.

Going down the list, the first one I’d say would be entirely sympathetic, though, would be the guy who killed someone for being cruel and inhumane in hunting a bear. Not in the same way as usual sympathetic suspects, more in the fact that he was far more morally right than the victim, and did accept the punishment quietly after his reasoning was known.

One that’s closer to what I sympathize with is more like the case where the woman killed a guy and then committed suicide after. The reason for the murder was simply that the man practically had complete control of the person she cared about, and she wanted to put an end to it. She knew the consequences, she didn’t try to hide anything, and instead of becoming an ‘idiot for killing someone over such a stupid reason’, she became a tragic story. Because it does feel like if you live, people will dismiss your reasons. The victim hadn’t been doing anything illegal, he’d just been abusing power and ruining someone’s life. The guy whose life was affected wasn’t even the one who committed the crime, someone else saw the injustice and felt a need to end it. That is what I sympathize with. It’s more compelling than anything related to revenge for me.

27. Besides Detective Conan, what’s another detective story/series you’d recommend?

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. ;p It’s one more for the characters than the detective mysteries, though. Some of them you can figure out, others not so much, but it’s fun and the development of the characters is great. I still with it had gotten as much attention as the author’s other work about a class of assassins and their tentacle teacher.

For something (slightly) more traditional… I did like Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning.

28. What other anime/series would make for your dream crossover with the DC universe?

MK, if Gosho would ever fully make it a crossover series instead of just crossover cameo. Fanfiction has to take care of everything.

I don’t know, I’m still partial to seeing an Ace Attorney crossover. I would say Professor Layton, but it’d feel strange to have Layton in an entirely modern setting, when his games are more set in a more whimsical time-period.

31. If you could change one thing about the series, what would it be?

MK and DC would be unquestionably the same universe. Not interacting too much with each other, doing their own thing, but far more small nods to the other happening at the same time and not just a loud ‘hey, I exist’ from time to time out of nowhere. Maybe similar to Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun in casual interactions, plot interactions optional. ( Even if MK and DC aren’t side series to either one of each other, despite what some might think about MK. Since. MK came first, regardless of whether Gosho’s other series became more popular. )
