@voadamyt I have this Pokémon comic!

It’s called “Trans Sawk” and is a Disney’s “Mulan” Inspired coloring book styled comic series I made almost a year ago.

The Reigon this is based in is called “Promesse”

And every Pokémon born here acts a lot more human than they should, all thanks to a legendary Pokémon accidentally useing it’s power to do that. 300 years later sense then is where this takes place.

Our main character is Addison (shiny Sawk)

Her dad finds out she is trans and being the worst dad ever, sends her away to join an year long “All Boys training camp” where she’ll meet new friends, learn important life lessons, learn to be strong in every way, and finally realize that who she wants to be and who she is should never be take away from her.

This series has a bunch of lore and story but almost none of it will be explored too far. That’s for the next comic to do.

Also anything colored in is import!

The comic is to have around 4 chapters. Each chapter will introduce new characters and new problems.

(The art does get much better throughout the parts so if it looks bad, just give it some time)

I’m posting all the parts I have out right now on Wattpad because Webtoon won’t work for it.

okay but like all this 'we should be nicer to staff' shit.

Staff? The same staff that has let Nazis and terfs and racists and pedophiles run rampant all over the site for years? The same staff that ignored predstrogen's reports of harassment for months? And who has similarly ignored other people who were the targets of harassment? That staff?

Like yeah photoshat's actions here speak the loudest and we at least got some kind of statement from the staff but let's not pretend they aren't complicit in all of this shit. Give me a break.

Thoughts on my favorite fighting types throh and sawk?

Okay, so here's the thing: Would I consider these good designs, objectively speaking? No, for reasons I'll get into momentarily. But do I like them personally regardless? Yes. Is that entirely because they look like Muppets? Yes, 100%. I want to get a pair and name them Bert and Ernie.

In terms of good things, I like their grumpy faces and their weird eyebrows. Between the two, I think I prefer Throh a little, just because the stockier body shape feels better than Sawk's to me.

But aside from that, these guys are... I can't say they're terrible or anything, but they feel a bit dull and under-realized.

I think the biggest problem here, at least for me, is that they're literally wearing judogis (the white uniform) and belts. Going over my general lists of qualities for object-wielding Pokemon:

Is it explained where the object came from? The 'dex mentions them weaving their own belts out of vines, but that doesn't do much to explain the judogis. Also, I would've liked to see them with green vine belts out in the wild before being captured and gaining the fabric ones they seem to have on normally, in order to visually display this somehow.

Does the object serve a purpose? It's mentioned that they get pumped and become stronger when tightening their belts. A little abstract, but I'll take it.

Does the object enhance the design? Not really.

And it's that last one that really throws Throhs me. Basically, it feels like literally having them wear martial arts uniforms is much too literal. There are ways to get the theming across without just slapping clothes on them and calling it a day.

Speaking strictly from a design perspective, those uniforms also make them look more generic and humanoid than they would if they didn't have them. They are, after all, mostly just standard judogis, just with some black on the knees.

And in terms of the rest of the design, there's a few odd things going on. I'm not really sure if I get why they're covered in those lines; it's especially weird when they're only on the head and arms. I've heard some argue it's to make them look like training dummies, but I don't remember training dummies having seams placed randomly all over them.

Another odd quirk of these guys is the eyebrows. They're actually based off of oni, but because Tornadus and Thundurus were originally red and blue, the oni horns were removed in favor of the eyebrows to avoid the two looking too similar. Which, to me, is just plain strange. Gen 1 had like 1/3 of all Pokemon with some kind of horn; I feel like no one is going to mix up the humanoid martial arts creatures with the weird cloud genies just because of some horns. The eyebrows aren't inherently bad (and I like how they happen to match the English name letters), but it's just odd from a concepting standpoint.

So how could these guys be improved or made more unique? Just to spitball some ideas:

Emphasize the idea of woven uniforms from vines by adding grass typing? Maybe the vines could be prehensile for good measure.

They already look a little like training dummies and something about them reminds me of plastic toys (this might just because they look a little like rock'em sock'em robots tbh). Maybe you could give them a more heavily jointed look and have them be able to detach their limbs for attacks (like some kind of insects can do) or something along those lines? I'd certainly remember them better if they could attached their own arms to hit people with them

For some bizarre reason both of these two are male, but oni can freely change their gender. Because the designs are very similar, I almost wonder if you could've gotten away with making this one Pokemon with gendered forms that can switch between the two as its ability. Certainly would make them more unique, given how I don't believe we have any Pokemon that trans their gender intentionally yet. For this option you could also make them more oni-like, such as restoring the horns, adding some fangs, maybe making the belt into more of a loincloth, ect.

Obviously those aren't the only directions you could go with these guys, but it just feels like they needed something else.

So overall, these two are a bit bland and under thought out in my opinion. But the designs we got at least are very Muppet-like and that saves them for me, at least on a purely personal level.

honestly sylveon in general- male or female, is a trans/lgbt pokemon. just depends on if it’s shiny or not. shiny? trans boy. normal? trans girl.

honestly this sounds like a fun set of pokemon. might trade out one of the..... three fighting types tho fsdjkdfkjs. female machamp is definitely staying.

In honor of pride month, are there any pokemon who are more prone to chosing same sex mates? Or do you know of any gym leaders/professors/champions/pc managers who are lgbt?

Regarding the latter, I must say quite a few of the figures you’ve mentioned are either closeted or straight, so I’m either not at liberty to out them or can’t include them here for obvious reasons.

At the very least, though, my colleagues on the storage system’s staff and I are quite happily open. Among the core developers (that is, the administrators of Kanto/Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and Alola), Lanette is the only one who’s both straight and cisgendered. Her sister and Molayne are aroace, Bebe is bisexual, Celio is gay, Cassius is pansexual and polyamorous at that, and I am an unfortunate cross between panromantic and asexual. Amanita is excluded here because she hasn’t really explored her sexuality or gender yet. Neither our circle nor her sister are putting any pressure on her to do so, though, but we’ll fully support her when she’s ready. In addition, Molayne is genderfluid (their pronouns are he/him and they/them, incidentally), but we also have a number of trans and nonbinary administrators among the non-core developers. Ingrid of London, for example, who seems to be a fan favorite, is trans.

Among the gym leaders and Elite Four, as I’ve said, a number of them are either straight or closeted. When it comes to outed members, there is quite an extensive list. For the sake of ease, allow me to only give a few examples. For one, Valerie of Kalos is trans and also aroace, but Jasmine and Will, likewise trans, identify as bisexual and straight, respectively. Burgh, meanwhile, identifies as genderfluid (pronouns are also he/him and they/them). Erika and Sabrina both identify as wlw, although Sabrina is asexual as well. On the other hand, Morty is openly gay, as are Brawly, Wallace, and Grant.

As for Elite Four and Champions, I admit I can’t say for the vast majority of them (they keep their identities rather secret due to our unfortunately backwards media, as you may be aware). However, Steven Stone is openly asexual which ... is perhaps because of some rather fascinating rumors about him. Quite honestly, he’s a man after my own heart—far more interested in science than more human pursuits. Of course, his main interests lie in geology rather than in pokémonology, but I don’t judge him for it. I just lament that it’s simply never meant to be.

As for pokémon, few of them share our concepts of gender and sexuality, so mated pairs of all possible orientations are not at all unusual in the pokémon world. Wild jynx populations, for example, are known to form same-sex couples and use nearby pokémon (sometimes found well outside the jynx’s home cave systems) to fertilize their smoochum eggs. Even when healthy populations of compatible male pokémon are presented to jynx, they often prefer the company of their own species or female representatives of the male’s. The tyrogue family, sawk, throh, and the bounsweet line seem to be the same way, and froslass, upon evolution, also gravitate towards other froslass and female glalie, even if they displayed a preference towards either gender as snorunt. (Researchers aren’t entirely sure why froslass do that, unfortunately.)

In short, I suppose one can say that should you be LGBT, readers, rest assured you are far, far from alone.

Guess who messed up and has to make a new tumblr account. Me. So from now on (until I regain access to my old account) This will be my main account. Let me introduce myself.

I’m Candy: the Cartoonish Witch! I go by Candy or CandyWitch on the internet and on Discord.

I am a digital artist that mostly draws Pokémon art but every now and then I draw things from anime to random cartoon doodles. I also like making stories!

I am the Creator/Artist of the Webtoons “Trans Sawk”, “Mission: Mizuden”, “Cotton Filled Souls” and “C.M.E (Cancellation, Manifestation, Extermination)”.
