kromer and ncorp: racist, ableist or something else entirely?
tw: you play limbus company, you should know the tw… also it’s in the title really
now I’ve been wondering about some discourse on Twitter (I know, real healthy) but for a while Kromer has been generalized as racist. however, there has been a rise of people clarifying that her behavior is not based off of racism but ableism. but is either side wrong? and would speciesism be a better approach to kromer overall?
chapter 3 is stock example of transhumanism, which doesn’t specifically lend to either opinion. (i.e the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology.)
ableism as defined by Oxford is “discrimination in favor of able-bodied people”. so now the issue is defining what it means to be disabled or able-bodied in the project moon universe. but specifically in ch3, the robotic additions were to seemingly well-off able-bodied individuals as a quality of life addition. now I don’t doubt Kromer would be equally vile to those who added prosthetics because of disability, but the mass that we’ve seen her kill is regardless of if they were disabled prior. I also personally have issue with the association that prosthetics automatically indicates disability. however, thematically to the chapter, ableism could absolutely apply. ncorp inquisitors torture the cyborg civilians by mocking their body functions and declaring the cyborgs could never be as “human”.
then how about racism? well, I’d argue race as it currently is defined is the biological differences within a species. adding robotic parts. the general public seems to believe race can not be modified, and race is something that has many cultural implications and differences. no one quite classifies “cyberhuman” or “robots” as a human race yet…? however, shamefully among history is mass genocide of race because of race, which is reminiscent of ch3—it’s bigotry and genocide of people of a specific group. but if it is based on race? turns out the Kromer commentary (and extending to Ncorp) towards those who use robotic additions is almost a Venn diagram between things said in race and/or disability discrimination within human history.
speciesism applies much better than racism but follows a similar principle. it emphasizes on human superiority over other species such as animals… or in recent topic, ai and robots. it’s bias against robots and ai because it’s not human? yeah, especially if Kromer and her ncorp goons do not believe the cyborgs as humans. however, this specific subset of speciesism doesn’t really hold any importance except for like… ai use for businesses or the weird ai morality question. discussion on this also focuses on an artificial mind and the cyborg individuals in ch3 probably did not become artificial ai (if our good Sinclair’s family is any indicator).
is it possible that Kromer is actually a blindly bigoted person who doesn’t have an ideology that can fit any specific modern concept we have because she’s irrational? well, yeah that’s always been the thing anyway lol. in the end, it’s difficult to define what Kromer is specifically because it’s not as if she’s following the exact logic of being ableist or racist…that’s pretty human in a sad way. they’re not human to her because they’ve modified their bodies in some way… I mean, genuinely, social Darwinism might be the one.
there is always the religious aspect that is clearly there, I mean, there’s a tw on the list called “religious torture and violence” and “enforced ideology and/or actions”. the resemblance of this subset of ncorp being cult-like certainly adds more to it. perhaps I’d save that for a part 2, religious discourse is truly difficult to discuss and knowing Hermann Hesse (and having not read Demian), I would have more insight post-reading Demian on this subject
the ending statement is this; I myself am not disabled and I don’t think I’ve experienced enough racism in my lifetime to say the text in ch3 is reminiscent of my experiences. If you have, I’d love to hear opinions on this. If you haven’t, I’d like to hear from you as well. I also really don’t have time to read Demian right now or do more research, this is just to unload some thoughts on the matter. there might seriously be an exact concept out there that captures Kromer in her entirety already idk

Loving them so much my brain latched onto the i cant stop
Context to them being together because you know how utterly garbage there relationship is in canon, I’m throwing that away, they get character development and time to think about there actions and not pure hatred to each other and Shadow didn’t kill Infinite’s whole family, they’re alive and well
the only think Shadow did wrong was insult him and damage his face but its been like 2 decades he regrets that alot
Something something like 20 years later and the Phantom Ruby is just found by Shadow and Meg, Infinite reappears when they touch it. He’s kept a secret for the time being because saying that the dude that caused mass destruction that was defeated by the power of friendship is back may cause panic. Also Infinite is now called Zero again, he doesn't want to be Infinite anymore
also they are legally married for legal benefits (also love but its funny to say legal benefits)
Tumblr media
Shadow’s “son”
Tumblr media
Meg’s Shadow’s adopted/foster son when he found some random child in like a garbage can when he was 3, he is 15 now. The original plan was to keep him until his parents where found but 12 years later that ain’t happening. His attitude is mimicking Shadow’s but not in a cold distant way more of a joking manner, he can be seen as a dick but those who know him  know he’s a cool dude. Howls only friend and at this point he’s basically her cousin/family at this point, they are really close. He’s basically besties with Rouge and sees her as a girlie more then an aunt along with Ruth, they gossip to each other. He’s real close with his dad when it was just him but recently he’s felt like a roommate living with a family.
-will say lol out loud unironically
-seems like an asshole is pretty chill
-the only not biological weapon in the family
-he doesn't consider Zero a dad or Seven a sister, they’re just Shadow’s partner and kid
-he’s not a registered citizen
-real close with Rouge’s fam
-had a rebellious phase where he wore cloths and just kept the pants cause he liked it
Tumblr media
His biological child
Tumblr media
Seven is my favorite fankid I love her so much. She’s Zero and Shadows biological child like she is there blood, she came from a tube. She’s beloved and is sheltered by both her parents so much. In public she is with Shadow and is said to be another foster, since he already has Meg it’s convincing, and Zero is still considered as Infinite, along with if she’s known to be the daughter of 2 feared individuals he will be so hated and feared for that reason so it’s best not to tell. She is considered an obedient and naïve child, she fallows her parents directions and respects when they say no, she doesn’t question anything, and doesn’t really think about it. The extent of her powers are unknown and those who know about her fear she can cause some real damage, right now the most she can do is phase through things like walls and project holograms, gladly she doesn’t show any signs of these powers being unstable but the knowledge she has more potential is feared, she has been given inhibitor rings to try and limit her abilities but for the most part she doesn’t wear them and only does when she’s around the Master Emerald or a chaos emerald. Her age is unknown but she is considered ageless but is still physically a child, at this point she probably around physically 13 but her actual age is like 4 when she got out of the tube.
Backstory time because she’s special - She was an experiment made by Eggman as one of his last projects to leave a lasting mark of fear, no one knows her purpose or why she was made or even if she’ll turn evil or not. As a joke I’m making the thought process behind it being Orbot and Cubot shipping, suggesting it to Eggman, Eggman saying that’s stupid and turning he idea down, Sage saying they’re a couple/the powers they both possess can create a powerful creature, Eggman thinks that’s a great idea and Sage takes all the credit. When she was discovered by Zero and Shadow, Eggman kinda went “yea take them I’ll be back when they’re older” and never came back, Zero was convinced she was one of his family’s kids that where kidnapped or something and eventually it was pronounced she was his kid and the edge lords where like “ok what now”. So they have a kid now and are in constant fear Eggman will come back and steal her.
-Seven considers Meg a brother but Meg doesn’t consider her his sister
- Her friends are kind of just Ruth and Ringer (Sonic’s kid I’m making his stuff next)
-Sometimes she’s confused if she’s a foster or Shadows real daughter because how much he tell people that
-Technically Silver’s great times whatever the fuck grandma
-the favorite child in all ways

Batsis HC Compilation
1.     Being the Artist/ Sensitive Also Kinda Scary Wayne Daughter HC (lol):
Tumblr media
Warnings: Depression and anxiety mentions
·      You were the first biological child of Bruce Wayne
·      Well as far as you knew lol
·      You were younger than Jason, but a few months older than Tim
·      I suspect that if you were in the family business as long as Dick or so you’d have some issues
·      Those would include but not be limited to depression and possible anxiety
·      There would be happy days but it would still go downhill after a few days
·      On the days where it was worst, everyone would pile in for family movie night
·      Secretive person and would probably be quite and sarcastic
·      Since you were living at the manor your entire life, you would’ve lived to see Jason’s death and it really hurt
·      If you were a musician, I suspect that Alfred or Bruce would have walked in on you at the piano or something playing a terribly sad song about it or just emotions and they’d cry
·      Something like the song “Beautiful Scar” by Alicia Moffet (sad one btw like omg)
·      If you were a writer or an artist, just pieces describing everything symbolically
·      Going back to the musician, there is a music room in the manor in my mind so I suspect that there are times where Bruce or one of your older brothers will carry you into your bedroom if they find you asleep
·      You find it hard being a Wayne and all seeing as it’s like everyone around you is fake
·      That led you to hanging alone a lot which concerned Bruce
·      “Y/N, why don’t you go to the party you were invited to? It’s a beautiful day for one.” He said one day finding you reading in your bedroom.
You looked at him solemnly, “All my friends are fake and want me for money and clout.” “I don’t try to go out with them much if I don’t have to.” *Que protective batdad*
·      The library is your home as well as the gardens
·      Now public and patrol is a whole new story
·      Riddler is your favorite villain because he starts good conversations
·      Sometimes the villains have in fact questioned your health to your older brothers
·      Riddler: So, does it concern you that Y/S/H/N seems to openly hate life or is it just me?
Nightwing: We all hate life, she just does a little bit more
Riddler: ...okkayyyyyyy
·      You sometimes make very violent threats on patrol which lead to some interesting conversations in the vans back to jail
·      The paps are literally scared of you
·      You have given the famous Wayne glare but on level 1000, billions of times
·      Very sarcastic answers to some questions
·      When people on the internet come for anyone you love you shut them down asap
_______________________________________________________________________
2.     Being the Business Woman
Tumblr media
·      You showed interest in the business for a while but never really total want to take over WE
·      No, you wanted to leave that for Tim
·      The boy deserved it anyways
·      Instead you started taking extra courses in business and such in middle school and worked your way up
·      While you didn’t like galas, you did try and make connections
·      You went to either an Ivy Leauge or Oxford or something
·      Then Wharton
·      After that you were on your way
·      If you already had a business it was booming but now it’s “extra booming”? idk but you get the idea
·      HuGE
·      Bruce was very proud and made that clear in interviews
·      Your company works closely with WE
·      Asking B for advice
·      Paparazzi doubling down on coverage for you since now you’re bigger than ever
·      Hosting you own galas
·      You either have a big house and rooms for everyone or a penthouse with the same situation
_______________________________________________________________________
3.     Being Bruce’s Favorite
Tumblr media
·      You have the best relationship with Bruce out of everyone
·      He takes you out on father/ daughter lunch or dinner dates which is pretty fun
·      He would never openly admit that you’re his favorite
·      Taught you to drive
·      If you ever need advice you go straight to him
·      Best birthdays ever
·      You go and visit him at WE and he lets you hang in the office
·      There’s a secret fridge stocked with snacks
·      Dad/ daughter patrol
·      Read you stories as a child
·      Legit might still if you ask
·      You sit in his office to do homework
·      Has come home to you spinning in his office chair
·      Shopping sprees
·      Interviews
·      Very protective on patrol when it comes down to being in a ton of danger
_______________________________________________________________________
4.     Being the Metahuman
Tumblr media
·      I’m thinking that you would have gotten your powers from a mission gone wrong
·      It was probably involving magic or something and you were seriously injured
·      I think that it would be fitting to be able to control darkness and things like shadows
·      Everyone was freaked out including you
·      You begged not to be sent away knowing what he thought of metas
·      He promised that he wouldn’t and just had someone over that would help you
·      Lots of tests at first and you kinda just lived in the Batcave for some time just incase
·      After that you changed your costume a bit to fit to the power theme
·      The villains were straight confused
·      “Bats what happened to your kid? Why is she scarier now?” ...”it’s complicated”
·      You know how in Young Justice, Robin had that creepy laugh?
·      It was like that now but then shadows came out of the wall
·      Everyone is pretty sure you made a few street criminals and Black Mask’s goon pee their pants
·      Best Halloween fun on patrol now
·      You scared Joker once
·      The powers do sometimes take a darker turn and you had to learn to control that since it did come from a maliciously used magic
·      “I can smell the fear off of you, clown.” You smiled and walked around him, shadows in the room, darkening your presence.  “Uhhh Batsy, I don’t like this one anymore.”
·      Hanging out with more Metas
·      You and Duke are like best friends
·      Gotta figure it out with someone am I right?
_______________________________________________________________________
5.     Being the Author
Tumblr media
·      Your father does have presence everywhere, but you don’t like to think that that is the reason for your success
·      I could imagine you being a true crime or just mystery writer
·      Maybe even fantasy/fiction
·      Jason helps you write them if you ever get stuck
·      All of them go to your book signings and sometimes it’s embarrassing but also funny
·      You love that they support you
·      Care packages from Alfred when you’re on book tours
·      There are typically also some more things tucked inside from everyone
·      Staying up with Timbers
·      Your room is probably really aesthetic just sayin
·      Gardens and library is the beesstttttt
·      Sometimes for books, you take your time on patrol and as a superhero even if you still do it as inspiration
·      Everyone is like HoW Do ThEY COmE uP WiTh ThIS
·      Hehe
·      If you’re moved out I can imagine you have a really cool apartment or house
·      Cozy and open
·      *aesthetic*
·      One time, Damian did a book cover for you and so since he actually wouldn’t let you pay him, you took him on tour with you
·      You helped him make that his side hustle lol
·      Alfred has all of your books in the library

June 17: 1x23 The Omega Glory
Watched the very uneven episode “The Omega Glory” today. Upon some reflection.. I think I have seen it? But I think my last rewatch ended abruptly after “By Any Other Name” so it might have been some time ago.
Anyway, it was... something. Decent, I might even say good, until the last 10-15 minutes and then it just went off a cliff? That’s how I’d summarize it.
Sulu, my beloved. I’ve missed you.
Kirk knows where all the ships are. I mean, obviously, but I love to hear it.
Phasers on heavy stun huh?
It’s so weird to be on a different ship. That looks like the same ship. It’s so empty and haunted looking.
With creepy crystal remains of bodies everywhere.
“These white crystals... are the crew.”
Something was thirsty!! Perhaps... a water vampire? Perhaps... a former McCoy girlfriend?
(Honestly having watched the whole ep...they could have expanded this intro longer. It was creepy and mysterious. Then cut the last act.)
Oh no, they’ve been infected and now must quarantine. Sort of. I guess.
...Oh no, is this Vietnam? Again?
“Our old enemy, Vietnam.”
My mother suggested the disease might be communism and I don’t think that metaphor tracks through the whole episode but you know what.. anything’s possible.
I don’t like this whole “you can’t leave the planet or you’ll get sick and die” thing. Too familiar.
"I may never be able to leave this planet but I have a worse problem: a colleague may be breaking a rule."
Says the man who has frequently violated a directive that has never been referred to as Prime before.
Kirk is getting very mumbly. That’s his serious voice.... bu it’s also his Denny Crane voice lol.
Like bio warfare in the 90s? TOS really thought the 90s was going to be the dark ages, didn’t it?
Only 90s kids remember...
Spock bursting in with a wounded man, just bringing the drama, as he does.
He’s not even listening to McCoy. Rude.
Spock absolutely 100% would have killed Captain Tracey on instinct as soon as Kirk is threatened.
Sulu’s in command? I love Captain Sulu but where is Scotty?
Kirk is so good. Clever, strong, smart. Knows all the regulations.
Tracey’s so dumb. “They’ve eradicated disease and live for hundreds of years!” Man, have you considered that they are...aliens? And their life spans are simply.... naturally longer than human life spans? And even if you could isolate the serum, it might not work on humans?
And his master plan is to isolate their immunity and bottle it for profit. It’s our old enemy... capitalism and the exploitation of intellectual property.
A fight scene!
“The pointy-eared one stays.”
Another fight scene!
Spock is watching all of this, and you know what, I feel like he’s not upset about it. It’s just like Pre-Reform Vulcan. Perhaps some... Amok Time flashbacks? “Damn, I wish that was me.”
Peanut gallery Spock.
“I wish you could teach me that.” / “I have tried.” Omg where is my scene of Spock trying to teach Kirk the nerve pinch?
And then that look Kirk gives him.
I don’t get the point of this scene but it amuses me that as soon as McCoy sees the pretty girl, he feels better.
A post-apocalyptic alien world... a very interesting concept. Like you could do a lot with that idea imo.
“That’s our worship word [freedom too.” Umm.... questionable.
Damn bitch, that was cold. Just knocking him out like that.
Damn yankee.
...Yankee and Communist dammit.
McCoy’s not even surprised to see Kirk and Spock out of jail.
Nature created a natural counterbalance to the biological disease. Where is OUR natural counterbalance, I ask?
McCoy sounds extra Southern rn. It’s all the stress.
I really don’t think Shatner gets enough credit for his subtlety. His face when McCoy explains the whole situation...
Oh he's mad now. "You've hurt Spock for nothing! Oh yeah and also killed thousands but MOSTLY THE SPOCK THING!”
Whereas Tracey really doesn’t seem to care about anything but war for its own sake. He knows now that his master plan for immortality was nothing the whole time...but he still needs to call those Yangs.
In other words, another once-reputable figure of authority now gone mad.
Kirk’s voice is so casual when he’s talking to Uhura and Sulu, you feel like he’s gotta have something up his sleeve. He can never hide when he’s really upset about something.
...Apparently what he had up his sleeve was his crew knowing regulations and then another full body tackle. Fight scene 3!
"My need for attention is vital.” Same, Spock.
This is a very attenuated and unbelievable connection Kirk is making but he’s Kirk so I’ll assume it makes sense that he’s putting it all together so fast.
Alternate Universe: Vietnam canon-divergence lol.
For anyone keeping track, this is right about the point where the episode goes off the rails.
YOU’RE A ROMANTIC, JIM. Well he’s right about that at least and he should say it.
Oh no, an American flag.
Cloud William, chief and the son of chiefs. That’s continuity of government for you.
(Also pretty hilarious that this society is supposedly So American with our exact flag and Constitution and everything... but they’re not a democracy.)
I really don’t want to believe that “under God” is still in the pledge 200 years from now.
"You're confusing the stars with heaven." Kirk thinks he's being called an angel.
The absolute mishmash of meaningless, referent-free words here. America. Native Americans. Communists. The flag, the Constitution. God. Angels. Devils. What???
Like how can they both be flag worshippers AND...believers in God? Who is their God? Alien George Washington?
So rude to call Spock Kirk’s “servant.” That’s his space husband!
Is that a literal picture of Spock as a demon in their.. Bible?
I can’t even follow this anymore.
“You command him.” I mean...yes, that’s how the military works.
“He has no heart.” Wow, rude.
“His heart is different!” I stan one (1) Southern Doctor.
I feel like Spock is just... not having this at all. His face loos like he’s thinking what I’m thinking.
Oh no is that the CONSTITUTION??!
“Kill his servant” wow Tracey is obsessed with Spock, isn’t he? I guess everyone in the Fleet knows about them and their special relationship.
Spock is even amused by the knife at his throat. His eyes say "I am distressed--but fascinated!"
A FOURTH fight scene? And here I thought Kirk was going to recite the Constitution.
“I’m open to suggestions.” He’s just as worried about Kirk as McCoy is, bu the doesn’t show it.
...Yep, he’s being telepathic again. Not really in line with his usual telepathy but okay. Alien magic is flexible.
Okay I have a JD and I can confidently say there is nothing about good defeating evil in the Constitution.
And now this alien guy is immediately ready to make himself a “slave.” That seems problematic. What happened to the holy word “Freedom”?
Wow, Kirk's in a bad mood. "You can't pronounce your own holy words worth shit."
“This is only for the eyes of a Chief,” he says and Kirk just pushes him away.
Spock literally turns Tracey around for Kirk’s big final speech like “Listen up, bitch, my boyfriend’s talking.”
Is this the 4th of July episode?? Feels like there should be canons and fireworks going off behind him rn.
Idk, the words of the Constitution can't be so unique and unprecedented if a WHOLE OTHER ALIEN CIVILIZATION just came up with them, too, on their own, like monkeys typing Hamlet. (Given the timelines here... they probably did it first too lol.)
"Liberty and freedom need to be more than just words." Like what does that even mean in this context? Sounds nice but it’s very hard to put into the context of all the rest of this.
“And uh be nice to the Kohms,” after most of them (?) were probably just killed.
I really was into this until the last 10-15 minutes and I think there were under-explored concepts that could have taken the fever dream of whatever that bizarre-o fever dream at the end was. The abandoned ship. The leftovers of bio warfare. The whole weird and under-explained concept of immunity. The tragedy that so much was destroyed,, including but not limited to the whole Exeter crew, for no reason. What happened to Tracey to so destroy him--was it just greed? What about the “Prime” Directive? Is it important or not. They just leave at the end after (as Spock pointed out) doing quite a bit of their own meddling, even though meddling is allegedly the worst. Also, we know almost nothing about the Kohms at all. The “American” society clearly wasn’t democratic. Were the Kohms literally Communist?
I’m willing to accept a certain degree of alternate Earth scenarios--like Miri (though imo that was not a necessary component of that story) or Bread and Circuses, but this was too much. TOO unbelievable. And frankly unnecessary. You could do an allegory for alternate-Vietnam, and it would be just as clear but even more effective. There wouldn’t be any distraction in the form of “what the fuck is that flag doing here?”
There is a potentially incendiary concept here, which is the same one I thought of reading about actual COG plans--certain aspects of the Yanks’ culture survives, but with absolutely no meaning attached. They have a Constitution but they mispronounce all the words. They have this tattered flag but it has no other meaning. They’ve turned the symbols of the government into a religion, but they don’t practice any of the civil aspects of it--they have chiefs, not democratically appointed leaders, for example. Like, COG asks “what IS the country, and how do you make sure the country endures no matter what?” This was an opportunity to show the worst of that: the country continues to exist as symbology only--incredibly strong symbology, but only that--and all of the actual values that were supposed to be stored with that symbology have disappeared. Similarly, their hatred of their enemies endures. It’s lauded in the ep as their attempt to get “their land” back but what if it’s just war for its own sake, as Tracey seems to be engaging in? To tell that story, especially in the 60s, against the backdrop of Vietnam, and with the references to bio warfare and nuclear warfare, could be powerful. And I know TOS can work in metaphor and comparison. It doesn’t need to bring out a literal fucking flag.
Honestly, it was like they had one good, classic, sci fi story but it didn't fill 52 minutes so they tacked on the American Pride 4th of July Propaganda Extravaganza at the end.
It really felt like the lesson was “America good” lol.
I liked the concept of the post apocalyptic society in the aftermath of bio warfare as a cautionary tale for 1960s America, and I'd be up for crazed snake oil salesman Starfleet Captain (or...whatever his rank was) if it were a bit better explained. But the rest of it....
It also... could have been kinda incendiary with the idea that the Constitution and flag are religious symbols... I mean some people do treat them that way and I've always found that, first, blasphemous, and second, bizarre in such a hyper-Christian country. But I feel like instead of digging ito that, they just tempered it with "But also they're Christian, as you can tell by their drawing of devil!Spock, for some reason."
Idk, this story could have been complete with out the whole weird “Vietnam AU” back story or alternately it could have been a biting commentary about what defines America, and about whether or not our symbols might be more enduring--or even more important to people today??--than the laudable but more complex and difficult ideals that underpin the country’s founding. Are the words of the Constitution just gobbledy gook? They are if you don’t live by them, and America has always struggled to do that. It definitely would struggle even more in the aftermath of an apocalypse.
...I’m more annoyed now, thinking about the possible sci fi story that could have been...
Anyway next is an ep I’m fairly sure I haven’t  seen, so that should be fun.

Hi! So, I’ve just recently gotten into K-Dramas, and... I have a small issue, and that is though I LOVE them in the beginning, by the end they always disappoint me? Like, they start lighthearted and fun, and then by the end suddenly everyone’s in mortal peril, and I don’t care? Or they start all fantasy, and then it’s all about the romance in the end? So... Could you possibly recommend me ones that are good, or tone consistent, throughout? Please?
Hi! Thanks for dropping by for recs. These are some of my favorite asks. I just love going back through my watch list and finding dramas that fit a given criteria. It gets more fun the more dramas I've seen.
The thing about Kdramas that makes them a uniquely sticky beast is that many of them are live-shot week to week, at least for part of their run, and often the scripts are not fully written before filming begins. Popular Kdramas will also occasionally receive extensions which can cause further pacing and plot issues and (sometimes) cause a story to sputter out entirely. With the increasing prevalence of entirely preproduced dramas there's been an increase in overall drama quality and consistency in past years. That being said, Kdramas are still a decidedly mixed bag in terms of overall production quality. So it pays to either drop things with extreme prejudice if you stop enjoying them and watch widely, or to have a good drama filter friend (like me!) to give you vetted recs. As a genre a lot of the more "classic" feeling dramas have a tendency to start really light hearted and then swing super dramatic in the latter half. That's something I occasionally like, but lucky for you not all dramas are like that!
Your ask doesn't really tell me what genre of Kdrama most appeals to you, so I went through my list and tried to find you wide a variety of dramas that I think of as being well-paced and tonally consistent throughout. I've also tried to limit myself to dramas that I rated highly on MDL, although my primary criteria was "good and tonally consistent" so this list of dramas is kinda all over the map. But then, so are my tastes. Also, I kinda got the impression from your ask that you're not a fan of the uber-melodramatic side of kdramas and you want something a little more restrained and less soapy, so I tried to steer away from those more makjang dramas but did not entirely succeed, lol. I gave a couple sentences of description so you can more readily narrow down what you're interested in, and if you would like a more thorough review of the dramas some of these have full reviews on my blog which I went ahead linked where they exist.
Age of Youth: A well written slice-of-life ensemble drama about a group of 5 college age women who end up boarding together. There are a couple moments of high drama/trauma toward the end of the show that might be a turn off. But other than the finale the tone is consistent. 9/10
Arang and the Magistrate: A dark fantasy fusion sageuk with a romance. I included this drama because it does a good job of developing the creepy worldbuilding and fantasy throughout. Though at points it can be a bit slow and the special effects are hella cheesy. 8/10
Argon: A tight, journalism driven suspense drama. Not always my genre but I found it very engaging, and at eight episodes it does not overstay its welcome. 8/10
Be Melodramatic: Another female-centric slice-of-life ensemble drama, though with an emphasis on fourth wall breaking comedy and clever dialogue. Very funny and heartfelt.  8.5/10
Cheese in the Trap: Maybe a controversial inclusion, but I very much enjoyed this drama. A slice-of-life college romance with psychological thriller elements. Some critics felt that the drama focused too heavily on the second male lead in the later half of the story, but YMMV. 8.5/10
Coffee Prince: Classic cross-dressing romance and still probably the best of its kind. A wonderfully nuanced and progressive handling of the subject matter, even after 13 years. Deals with serious subjects but doesn't go too melo with it. 8.5/10
Children of Nobody: My best of 2019, a dark psychological thriller about a child psychiatrist and a police detective who have to confront gray morality while attempting to track down a serial killer who only targets unrepentant child abusers. 9.5/10
Ex-Girlfriend Club: On the lighter side, a friends-to-lovers type romantic comedy about the writer of an autobiographical webtoon who has to figure out a way to get along with a group of his ex-girlfriends to make a movie based on his work. Only 12 episodes. 8.5/10
Go Back Couple: Also only 12 episodes (these shorter dramas tend to be better paced I find) a time-slip drama about a divorced couple who get the chance to relive their twenties and end up realizing they still have feelings for each other. This drama is both very funny and it had me bawling on multiple occasions. 9.5/10
Healer: A favorite of a lot of drama fans, this is an action-focused romance about an awkward soft boy with a secret identity as a highly skilled errand boy to criminals and an intrepid tabloid reporter who is his biggest fan. This drama is pretty tropey, but it's fun and the romance is great. 8.5/10
Hello Monster (aka I Remember You): A police procedural with a background love line about a criminal profiler looking for his lost brother and a detective looking for her father's murderer. One of my personal favorites. 10/10
Hit the Top (aka The Best Hit): A time-slip fish-out-of-water comedy about a 90s pop star who winds up in modern day Seoul and ends up befriending his biological son and meets old friends who his disappearance left in the lurch. 9/10
Incomplete Life (aka Misaeng): A realistic office drama that gave me real world work anxiety, focusing on a failed Go player who winds up an intern at a highly competitive shipping company and has to find a way to earn his keep even without the background and college education of his coworkers. Unbelievably well done ensemble drama. 9/10
Just Between Lovers: A romantic melodrama about two people whose lives were irrevocably changed by a tragic mall collapse that nearly killed them as children, meeting again as adults and finding comfort and healing in each other. A rough sit at times, but a wonderful love story with incredible acting. 9/10
Just Dance: High school, slice-of-life, drama about a dance club in a technical high school and a group of working class kids who reluctantly become involved in this club and befriend each other. Only 8 episodes (or 16 thirty minute episodes, depending on how you recon it.) 8.5/10
Life on Mars: Remake of the British show of the same name, this is a surreal time-slip police drama, about a forensics expert who gets shot in the head and wakes up in 1988. Or does he? He could also be dying on an operating table. It's hard to tell. Dark, suspenseful and trippy. 9/10
Matrimonial Chaos: An off-beat comedy about two dysfunctional couples who become inescapably mixed up in each others lives. One that's having a hard time getting divorced and another that's having a hard time getting married, and all the messy weird emotions that go along with that. This is another one of those, makes you laugh/makes you cry throughout dramas I have an affinity for. 9/10
Moment of Eighteen: A heartfelt high school drama about a straightforward but awkward loner who is forced to transfer to a new school, immediately earns the ire of a powerful student and experiences first love. Not my usual thing, but very well written with complex and likeable characters. 8/10
Mother: A cold and socially isolated woman becomes a temporary teacher and upon discovering one of her students is being severely abused and neglected, decides to pose as the child's mother and go on the run with her. Like Children of Nobody, this can be a bit of a rough watch because of the subject matter but it is very well done. 9.5/10
My Mister: A healing, human drama about a structural engineer in his 40s and a debt-ridden young woman in her 20s who end up crossing paths and saving each other from a miserable existence. My current all time favorite drama. Cannot say enough good things about it. Practically perfect in every way. 10/10
One Spring Night: A very restrained and naturalistic slow-burn romance about a woman who is about to get married and suddenly begins to question her relationship and a single father who had given up on love who find themselves irresistibly drawn to one another. 9/10
Prison Playbook: An ensemble slice-of-life drama centered on prisoners and correctional officers in their day to day lives. I find the actual het romances in this drama totally useless, but it's a large and talented cast playing a variety of lovable characters. 8/10
Psychopath Diary: Recent fave. A screwball black comedy about a mild mannered pushover who loses his memory and finds a diary that convinces him he's a psychopathic murderer, which gives him a huge boost of confidence from his new found identity, much to the chagrin of those around him and the actual owner of the diary himself. 8.5/10
Queen In Hyun's Man: A drama about a Joseon scholar who time travels to modern day Seoul and meets an actress who just landed a part playing the queen he served in the past. This one might be on the border line of too dramatic or tonally inconsistent, but it's got one of the most pitch perfect finales in Kdramas and the 45 min episodes keep it a snappy watch that doesn't drag or meander too much. 8/10
Reply 1988: A late 80s nostalgia drama about a group of families who all live off the same alley. Lovely family drama, comedy with a variety of romances. Long ass episodes especially later in the run, but I have rewatched the whole thing and I loved every minute of this show. 9.5/10
Save Me: A dark drama about a young woman who finds herself forced into a dangerous cult by her family, and is desperate to escape, and a group of 4 local young men who try to help her. One of the more unique and well done OCN thrillers. 9/10
School 2013: High school ensemble drama that launched a whole bunch of careers. In general I avoid school dramas (I know there have been three on this list so far, but those are like the only three, lol) but this show got me so invested in all these students and teachers. Also the two male leads are so shippable. 9.5/10
Secret Love Affair: A romantic melodrama about a piano prodigy from an underprivileged background who catches the eye of a married older woman and the two fall into a passionate affair. This drama involves cheating (obviously) but it's beautifully filmed and written and the music is to die for. 9.5/10
Signal: This is a supernatural crime thriller and a perennial favorite in the Kdrama community. An imbittered criminal profiler finds an antique police radio which allows him to speak with a police detective 15 years in the past, and uses this to crack cold cases and try to prevent brutal crimes from ever happening. 9/10
Six Flying Dragons: This one is a bit different from the others on the list, first of all because it's a more traditional historical drama, and secondly because it 50 episodes long. But it is so, so very good. And if you're looking for overall consistency in terms of storytelling and tone this drama has it in spades. 9/10
SKY Castle: A unique melodrama about a group of affluent competitive mothers who will go to any lengths to get they're children into the best medical schools, and a mysterious school coordinator with shady motives who gets brought in as a ringer to give them an edge. This show is kind of hard to sell but very entertaining and watchable. 7.5/10
Stranger (aka Secret Forest): The story of a stalwart prosecutor who, due to a childhood trauma is unable to feel the full spectrum of emotions, works with a bighearted police detective to root out corruption around a series of murders. This one’s rather cerebral and requires your full attention but the leads are amazing and there's a second season coming out this year I'm very much looking forward to! 9/10
The Nokdu Flower: Another sageuk drama about the latter years of the Joseon Dynasty surrounding three people who fall on different sides during the Donghak Peasant rebellion. Incredibly well written and involving historical drama. If you're not sure you're ready to commit to something like Six Flying Dragons, I think this would be another good entry point into the genre. The acting is amazing. 9/10
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes: A romantic melodrama and psychological thriller about a dangerous enigmatic young man on the cusp of becoming either a human being or a monster. He becomes involved in a fraught relationship with the sister of a police detective at the same time her protective older brother begins to focus on him as the prime suspect for a murder. High key moody and tragic if you're into that kind of thing (I am). 9/10
Touch Your Heart: On the complete other end of the drama spectrum, this show is pure unadulterated fluff, which managed to keep me giggling and swooning throughout the run, even though it's typically not my thing. An actress joins a law office as research for a role and falls for the ace attorney she's assisting. 8.5/10
WATCHER: Another OCN thriller about three different people with shady motivations who are connected to the same murder case and become involve in a corruption task force looking into dirty cops. One of those "trust nobody, everyone's a suspect" dramas with lovely complex characters and a fully engaging plot. 8.5/10
Sorry that got so out of hand! This is what happens when you don't give me a little more direction I guess. These are all dramas I quite enjoyed and I believe you will find something in there that will suit your fancy. This is a pretty accurate cross section of my tastes.
Happy watching!

Sticky Notes (1/4)
Tumblr media
~Bruce Wayne/Reader~
Summary: Soulmate AU where you’re given 100 sticky notes that will appear somewhere in your soulmate’s line of sight after you write on them. To keep everyone from immediately finding out who their soulmate is, you can’t write your name until the very last note.
Part One (You’re Here) / Part Two / Part Three / Part Four
By the way, I picked this picture because it’s pretty much the vision I had in my head for one of the scenes near the end of this part. I actually had to go through Son of Batman to find this particular scene and take a screenshot lol.
***
Some people get lucky and meet their soulmates before they receive their sticky notes. Others don’t care and throw theirs away. Then there are the people that use them up and have either met or gotten one step closer to meeting their soulmate. You, however, were in none of those categories.
For years, you’ve looked forward to your eighteenth birthday just because that’s when you would receive your sticky notes. A couple of months before that day, though, you made a mistake. A mistake that ended with you coming home from a doctor’s appointment that forever changed your life.
You had grabbed the mail on the way inside and found the small package addressed to you. Sighing, you opened it and found a stack of a hundred (f/c) sticky notes. Tossing the packaging into the trash, you went straight into your bedroom and opened one of your dresser drawers. Digging to the very back, you put the notes inside and covered them with the clothes you had in that drawer. Those sticky notes were the last thing you wanted to think about. After seeing them, there was only one thought running through your mind. What man would want to be soulmates with someone that was pregnant with another man’s child?
***
Nearly ten years later, you’d long since moved out of your parent’s house and rented an apartment for you and your daughter. The last time you’d ever thought about those stupid notes was when you put them away in the apartment after the move. Not once have you had a sticky note appear from your soulmate anyway.
It was a Saturday afternoon. Currently, you were doing laundry as (D/N) colored in the living room. She ran into the laundry room, prepared to show you her latest creation. At first glance, you saw ‘I love you, Mommy’ in her handwriting with a little heart at the end of it and smiled. All you needed was another second to process what you saw to know that she had found your sticky notes.
You followed after her back into the living room and kneeled beside her. “(D/N), you can’t write or draw on these. These are Mommy’s special sticky notes.” She knew what that meant. Some of her friends at school had talked about their parents using them and, once you told her that the one she had just written on was yours, big crocodile tears welled up in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Mommy! I didn’t mean to!”
Engulfing her in a hug, you tried to calm her down. “It’s okay, sweetie. You didn’t know. I’ll go grab you some regular paper that you can use, alright?”
“Okay…” She was sniffling, but there wasn’t any evidence that she would be shedding any more tears. In a last attempt to make her realize that everything really was fine, you kissed the top of her head.
***
Later that night after (D/N) had gone to bed, you were putting dishes away and something caught you by surprise. When you had opened a drawer to put away a spatula, there was a black sticky note with writing in what appeared to be silver permanent marker.
‘I never imagined that would be the first thing I read from my soulmate.’ Your eyes widened. For what seemed like ages, you stared down at the little piece of paper. This was your first contact with your soulmate. What do you do? Should you just ignore it like it never happened? Or write back? What would you even write? You decided to leave it be for the time being and go to bed.
A few days later, you still hadn’t replied nor received any more notes from your soulmate. Until now, that is. Another of the black sticky notes laid on your desk when you returned from your lunch break at work. ‘Are you ever going to respond? Before I got that first note, I thought I just didn’t have a soulmate.’
This time, the note caught your attention and you narrowed your eyes at the written words. You knew just the response and once you got home from work, you grabbed your sticky note stack and a pen.
‘That’s a two-way street, you know. You could’ve written before now too.’
For some unknown reason, you couldn’t fall asleep tonight to save your life. All you did was toss and turn. With a huff, you sat up in your bed and turned on the lamp that sat on your nightstand. A note was stuck to the lamp.
‘So, you are alive…’
A second later, you were grabbing your sticky notes and writing back. If you weren’t going to get any sleep, you might as well keep yourself occupied.
‘Look, the only reason I never wrote was that I didn’t think anyone would want to be my soulmate when I’ve got a kid that’s not theirs.’
This time, the response was a lot quicker. Apparently, your soulmate wasn’t sleeping either.
‘I’ve got three adopted sons and one biological son.’ Your eyes widened in surprise.
‘I… take it back then. Assuming that you do want to be my soulmate.’
‘It’s not like I had any say in who my soulmate is.’
‘Ok, wise guy. I told you why I didn’t write, now it’s your turn.’
There was a lag in getting the next note. You waited for about ten minutes before the next one showed up.
‘I always thought my soulmate would be better off without me and my baggage. So, when I thought that the universe just didn’t have a soulmate for me, I didn’t think about it anymore.’
A confused look formed on your face. ‘You’re calling your sons baggage?’
‘No. This began before them.’
‘So… what then? A bad relationship or something?’
‘Or something. It’s complicated.’ You raised an eyebrow at the response but didn’t press the issue further. That kind of answer typically means that it’s a touchy topic someone doesn’t want to talk about.
Glancing at the digital clock that sat next to the lamp, you couldn’t believe that it was one in the morning. Even though you still didn’t feel like you could fall asleep, you would just have to force yourself to lay in bed with your eyes closed until you drift off.
Before you did that though, you sent one last note. ‘I have to be at work early, so I’m going to bed. Goodnight.’ You added a smiley face at the end of your note and immediately regretted it, but it was too late now.
‘Goodnight,’ came the immediate reply and you finally turned the lamp off.
***
Two weeks have gone by since that night you couldn’t sleep. You’ve exchanged many more notes with your soulmate – fifty-two to be exact – and you haven’t had a sleepless night since. For some reason, you decided to keep track of how many notes you’d used.
Maybe it’s because you could finally tell him your name when you got to the last one. So many people have tried to write their names, but they end up wasting a sticky note. Any time you write your name before the hundredth note, it doesn’t appear when it reaches your soulmate. Even something that would give the slightest clue as to who you were wouldn’t appear. In the end, you’re better off not even trying and being patient.
Most of the replies you get come during the day and, once the evening rolls around, they’re pretty limited. This makes you think that he has more free time in the middle of the day. Perhaps he works at night? Even if your guess is right or wrong, it doesn’t stop you from writing on your sticky notes at any time.
Sitting at your designated work desk, you had just gotten back from your lunch break and resumed working. As you typed along on your keyboard, one of your fingers felt paper where your number pad was supposed to be. Pausing, you looked down to find a sticky note and a smile formed on your face.
‘I hope your day is going better than mine. I’m stuck in meetings all day.’
You plucked the note from its spot and admired it. Your soulmate had elegant handwriting. Reading the words on the small piece of paper again, you got lost in a daze. At least until you could hear your boss’ voice get closer to your desk. Quickly, you tucked the note underneath your keyboard and resumed your work. It’s like you were back in school – passing notes during class.
Before you knew it, your boss stood a couple of feet away from you. Stealing a quick glance, it looked like he was giving a tour to a few men, one of whom you recognized as the billionaire Bruce Wayne. Said billionaire looked in your direction and you immediately averted your eyes back to your computer screen.
In your haste to continue working and returning your gaze to the document you were currently filling out, your keyboard shifted just enough to expose a small amount of the silver writing on the black sticky note. You noticed rather quickly and fixed the keyboard to cover it. Your boss didn’t seem to notice, so you believed yourself to be in the clear. It didn’t even cross your mind that anyone else might have noticed.

(Still nameless project) Character and Species master post
Soo how some might have noticed I am working on an original Idea for a comic and this will be my Character master post which I will add to whenever I got a new addition for the cast.
The premise of the story basically some aliens going on an adventure to find earth and join a supposed interplanetary peaceful conglomeration because they caught a transmission of an old cheesy and corny scifi series (ala star trek or well early Perry Rhodan when you actually know that novel series you get a free smooch from me)
The Lophorel and the Narlaha
Those are the first Species to be introduced and well the ones where the original three crew members will start off .
For demonstration purposes I include a pic of the parents of the first three bc I still need to make a general species guide for them lol
Tumblr media
(From left to right: Shejeren, Noroph'a, Uruphija'l, Charalah I will give some short specific info about them later lol)
Both species share one planet which is the second in their solar system and has three moons orbiting around it.
The Lophorel are native to surface of the planet and usually have a skin color ranging from very light blues to dark purples. They have gem like growths on their heads which is surrounded by a skin covered bone structure which either is build like an ark or a row of lill spikes. They have pointy ears and their bigger eyes have octagonal pupils which form a cross when constricted. Usually their Iris has the same color as their gem and their Sclera is black, in rare cases there can be mutations of color tho. With their eyes they can perceive a wide array of colors and even some elektro magnetic phenomena in their environment but they are pretty much blind in low light situations. They usually wear longer hair (short hair is seen as obscene in their culture) in different braided styles. While white hair is the most common hair color in their species there are also variants of reddish browns that can occur. They aren't very strong however but do to their legs agile and good at jumping. Height wise they can get from 1,60 m (5' 2'')up to 1,90 m (6' 2'') They are generally hermaphrodites and don't have naval  due to laying eggs. They use the terms Eren (Seedgiver) and Ophat (shellcarrier) to adresse their parents and it occurs that siblings from the same parent pair use diffrent terms for addressing the same parent. They also number their children with the last sibille of their name so for example having 'rel' at the end of a name means that it is the first hatched child YEP I gonne write a language guid later someday lol . While being omnivore they have developed a distaste to eating meat and as a culture live mostly vegetarian.
The Narlaha are used to live mostly under the surface of the planet and are often called Nipht by the Lophorel which is similar to calling someone and earthworm. In turn the Narlaha call the Lophorel Kar'alarf which literally means stone-head. They are significantly smaller than their surface dwelling neighbors and only get around 1,50 m (4' 9''). They have four arms and are significantly physically stronger. Due to their carnivore nature and history of hunting they have sharp claws and teeth and usually a very dark grey skin completion mixed with red markings which makes them blend in with their stone surroundings. Their four eyes are one tones and most of the time their eye colors range from white grayish to red. They may only see the world in reddish and green tones but they have excellent vision in dark areas. The bone structure on their head helps them sensing vibrations from their surroundings. They are more like us humans when it comes to their genders and sexualities soo no big explanation here. But they don't really have their own names instead a family name is given from the chosen parent to the child with either a 'lah'(born female), 'ren'(born male), 'len' (born intersex) at the end depending on the biological sex they are born with. Also they tend to have brown to black hair only sometimes they mutate blond hair. Also there are albinos I'm the Species
In the history of their species they obviously didn't get along very well most of the time so after a view wars the Lophorel sadly established a trend of enslaving the Narlaha bc the Lophorel (having the advantage of not limited airspace) were technology more advanced than the Narlaha, who due to limited space couldn't build respected deferenses against the most of the time vibration based attacks of the Lophorel. While the violent ages of this planet are now gone both their cultures got so accustomed to the practice of slavery that there are barely any objectors on both sides of the coin. Still during the events of the story there some thing about to be changed lol.
And now off to a few words to the named characters above. They are as stated the Parents to the first three crew members of the story. Noroph'a is a rich space miner that makes his living with deploying mining ships to other planets of their solar system. They married the way less fortunate Uruphija'l due to practicality and the wish to produce taller offspring (They are a little insecure about their height). Both of them are rather strict and caught up in outdated social rules. After they conceived their first egg they bought Shejeren and Charalah bc they also were expecting a child and Noroph'a wanted their offspring to grow up with an always present play buddy bc he also grew up with a Narlaha play mate. After Charalah gave birth to a little baby daughter (Shejelah) She and her husband were kept as bodyguards for the two Lophorels while a third Narlaha took care of Shejelah and the now also hatched Ala'phrel.(Charalah and Shejeren already had a older child Chararen who at this point already worked in a diffrent household [Narlaha children get independent pretty quickly]). In general where the two Narlahas pretty happy to have landed in Noroph'a's household because their new daughter now had the privilege to get the basics of a good high tier education together with Noroph'a's offsprings which would mean that she could later find a home as a home preschool teacher which is considered a honorable position for a  Narlaha. Noroph'a  and Uruphija’l had one more child (Nirlaph) and even tho Shejeren and Charalah tried to also conceive again Shejelah stayed the only young Narlaha in the household.
On to the important peeps
Tumblr media
(From left to right Nirlaph, Ala’phrel, Shejelah)
Growing up together the three established a strong bond and even tho it was planed to send Shejelah away as she got old enough to be sold off again Ala’phrel and Nirlaph both protested against their parents wishes and kept Shejelah around. This is partially because when they were younger and first got to have tech based toys the three of them build a simple signal receiver which accidentally lead them to catch an old transmission of a show called "Captain Jacks search through the stars" which depicted a utopian society without racism and slavery. They didn't understand a word of what was said in the show but the depiction of different races (even tho they were suspiciously similar in general looks) working together seemingly without race hierarchy fascinated the three kids to such an extend that they from there on strived to one-day be able to meet Captain Jack and his Crew and join their ranks. They over time established a translation of the alien language and made it their own. Learned all principles which Captain Jack resided as foundation of the peaceful planets conglomeration and started studying all skills need to actually fly a space ship.
Even tho the three kids treated each other as equals the older they got the more Shejelah had to oblige to the house rules, meaning she had to adapt to the servant clothing, had to learn formal speaking rules and wasn't allowed to speak without spoken to in general. While she did conform to those rules to some degree the suppressed aggression against them lead to her having a very strange relationship with human swear words. She really likes to sprinkling them in when she has the opportunity to speak freely. In general she seem to be a rather reserved individual (despite the swearword occasionally slipping out) but that's just as long as she doesn't trusts you. At times she seems to be just a tad sassy which is a way for her to handel her insecurities about her social status and her struggle to actually  come forward with requests  regarding herself, bringing her ideas forward or just simply saying ‘no’ to a request. It is very important to her to be able to choose her own clothing and she often will change her outfits as she sees fit just because being forced to wear a unified and dull outfit for most of her life evoked a desire of outward expression of herself in her. So even tho she dawns a version of the uniform they have seen the crew members of captain Jack wear she  will take her own spin on them and  proudly wears her own creations. She wears an open nose ring to honer her upbringing as slave and symbolize her now found freedom. Shejelah is often called just Jelah by her two friend after  seeing the crew members of Jack using Nicknames for each other, while this is a shorter version of her name it also means ‘brain’ in an ancient language of the  Lophorel. And indeed a brain she is, not just having the strength of her species  Shejelah is quite smart and has a high interests in quantum physics and chemistry. She will often work together with Nirlaph, who has a interests into engineering to invent and upgrade all sorts of gadgets and knickknacks.   Speaking of Nirlaph (Nick: Nor translatable with ‘fluffy chicken’) they are non a less brilliant but suffer a severe case of being skittish and uncertain. As the younger sibling they often had to live to the standards the older one leid down first  and while they are in many aspects superior to their sibling the stress of being held up to already high standards got to them at a young age. So while they are capable of being  brilliant and an absolute genius their anxiety and stage fright often hold them back. So more often then not they tend to overthink decisions and either screw something up in the execution do to the anxiety or just not doing it at all even tho deep down they know they should have. They still don’t hold a grudge against their older sibling to the contrary they heavily rely on the fare more outgoing and intuitive  Ala’phrel to pull them for Support and to just pull them against  through it. But other than  Ala’phrel and Shejelah they prefer to keep to them selves  often working in the dead of the night and in secret  on their projects  to avoid the awkwardness that brings working under the public eye. But also he refuses to give their  and Shejelah’s brilliant invention to a society that wouldn’t even acknowledge Shejelah’s part in them  which they think is way greater than their part in them. So even if both of their work could have revolutionized the space travel of their society they keep their inventions a secret which will later be to their advantage. But well without  Ala’phrel the trio wouldn’t get to the point where they will find them selves.  Ala’phrel is bold, charismatic and understands how to get their way. They are the driving force behind the whole story dragging the other two further  into the right direction. While lacking the brilliant and deep understanding of the scientific backgrounds  their bordering on delusional positive attitude and admiration of the concepts  they have seen in the show keeps them all moving forward. Ala’phrel isn’t shy of justifying controversial actions ( like stealing a ship from their parents) with the greater  intention behind them which sometimes leads to further trouble they need to deal with together with their friends which more often than not build the perfect contra weight to  Ala’phrel ‘s at times insane schemes. They definitely are a bit too much obsessed with captain Jack and his crew and them being real so you could say they are a super fan. But in the end they have good intentions even tho they lack the experience they always try to do the best for their friend and for themselves.

I meant Hogwarts Houses, lol
I thought that’s what you meant, but just wanted to double check haha.
Here are my sortings for the TVD characters (since there are so many characters I’ve only included the main characters and long-term supporting characters):
Elena: Hufflepuff
Elena is caring, compassionate and loyal. She takes on a care-giver role in her personal life with her family and friends but also in her professional life as a doctor. Elena values fairness above all and that’s ultimately what guides her morals and values.
Stefan: Hufflepuff
Stefan, just like Elena, believes in fairness and doing the right thing. He has a warm heart and is able to relate and connect to others deeply. He’s naturally a calm soul who is able to conduct himself with openness and kindness.
Damon: Slytherin
Damon is cunning and manipulative. He’s committed to his goals and desires, and will stop at nothing to reach them. There’s no limits to what Damon will do because he’s always able to justify his actions as the means to an end. More than that, Damon actively enjoys being cunning and scheming because he likes the power that goes with it. And at the core of Damon, that’s what he craves most: power.
Caroline: Slytherin
I almost went for Gryffindor for Caroline because she’s honest to a fault, out-spoken, brave and pretty fearless. She reminds me a lot of Cordelia in that way. However, I see her primary drive as being her ambition. She wants to excel in every way; she’s a perfectionist and wants to be the best at everything she turns her hand to. She has a tendency to have a very one-track mind and when she sets her mind to something she won’t stop to get there. Dare I say it, she can even come across as spoiled sometimes because of the fact that she always wants to get her way. Sometimes her desire to be on top and get everything she wants can also cause her to be insensitive or oblivious to the feelings of others around her. The way Caroline was without her humanity in season 6 really shows her innate Slytherin-ness. Elena without her humanity is a completely different person because the core of Elena’s character is her compassion. Caroline wasn’t that different without her humanity because she was ultimately driven by her ambition and that wasn’t necessarily tied to her humanity.
Bonnie: Ravenclaw
Bonnie is introspective, intelligent and intellectual. She’s more prone to isolation than Elena and Caroline, because she needs time by herself to contemplate and reflect. She’s booksmart and devotes hours to honing her magic. Despite being devoted to doing the right thing, she’s no push over. She’s smart enough to know when she’s being taken advantage of and she wields her intellect and power to set boundaries. No matter what she comes up against she’s able to figure out a solution. Bonnie is the only one with the wit to get the gang out of any trouble they land themselves in and that’s why she’s the one they always turn to when they’re in danger.
Jeremy: Gryffindor
Jeremy doesn’t really scream out as fitting into any of the houses, but I’ve gone with Gryffindor because of his bravery. As the seasons progress and Jeremy got older and became a Hunter, he became a fighter. He wasn’t afraid to walk into any situation to protect those he loved and he was very much a soldier. He believed in fighting for justice and despite being a human in a supernatural world (until season 4), he was never really scared to stand up and fight.
Katherine: Slytherin
No surprises here. Katherine is cunning and a master manipulator. Her motivator is survival and she’ll do anything to stay alive - Better you die than I. She uses people for her own benefit before discarding them and knows exactly how to use everything and everyone around her as tools to achieve her goals. Katherine is the master; the one that controls all of the pieces on the board in order to win.
Matt: Hufflepuff
I don’t think there’s really an explanation necessary here. Matt is the definition of Hufflepuff: nice, friendly, loyal to a fault and good. He even ticks the cliche perceptions of Puffs of being boring, average and “normal”.
Tyler: Hufflepuff
Tyler’s not that easy to place either and I think most people would be surprised by my choice here, but despite his bad temper, I do think that overall Tyler is very loyal. Although it was part of his biological make-up, he remained loyal to Klaus despite hating him. He severs that bond with Klaus because he loves Caroline so much and wants to remain loyal to her always. He is willing to do whatever it took to protect his pack and the fact that Tyler is a pack animal by nature, means that he has a willingness to connect with and be considerate of others.
Alaric: Ravenclaw
Ric is an academic, someone that is well-read and that finds solutions to problems by learning. Admittedly, he changes a lot as the seasons progress and I stopped watching TVD after season 6 and haven’t watched Legacies, so I’m not overly confident in this choice.
Klaus: Slytherin
Klaus prizes power above all. Everything he does is for his own selfish needs and wants in his ever ending quest for power. He’s a natural leader who seeks to rally those around him and place himself on top wherever he goes. Klaus is dominant by nature and he always wants to take charge. He believes he’s superior, not just in his strength but also his knowledge and cunning. He’s ruthless and will do anything it takes to accomplish his goals. However, he does have the emotionality of a Gryffindor. He’s deeply emotional, he reacts without thinking and despite how hard he fights to think with his head, his heart can take over, especially when he’s in the moment. Example, Klaus is the sort of person that would rip out Marcel’s heart because he pissed him off or betrayed him, but then he’d deeply regret it afterwards and mourn Marcel because he loves him. So despite the fact that Klaus seems like the embodiment of Slytherin, he actually has quite a few Gryffindor characteristics.
Elijah: Hufflepuff
Elijah is loyal, just and strives to act on his morals and better judgement. He doesn’t expect anything to be handed to him on a plate, he’s willing to work for it and devote himself to a cause. He’s very much the heart and soul of his family. He’s the one who keeps Klaus centered and grounded, because he’s the one that is most in touch with his humanity.
Rebekah: Hufflepuff
Rebekah doesn’t really fit into any of the houses, and I don’t think many people would agree with how I’ve sorted her. The reason I’ve chosen Hufflepuff is because Rebekah does terrible things but she never really does it for the same reasons that Klaus or any of her other siblings. She doesn’t do it because she enjoys it or because she’s on a quest for power, she does it because it’s expected of her and it’s a habit after a thousand years as a vampire. Rebekah doesn’t care about power, she constantly condemns Klaus for the way in which he prioritises power above her and the rest of his family. Rebekah’s main goal is always the same - to be ordinary - the complete opposite of Klaus’ main goal. Rebekah wants normality, love, family; a wholesome life. She’s not cunning or manipulative like Klaus. In fact, she’s very vulnerable because she’s so guided by her heart. She’s also loyal to a fault. Despite all that Klaus puts her through she stays by his side. She’s drawn to Matt because she sees in him everything that she wants to be - human, good, loyal, kind - and the fact that she values that above all is the reason I placed her in Hufflepuff despite the fact that her impulsivity could easily land her in Gryffindor.
Kol: Slytherin
Kol is very much like Klaus. He’s cunning, manipulative and guided by a desire for power. I found that his characterisation became very muddled when he went over to TO, so I’m not that confident in this, but the Kol I remember and liked most, was definitley Slytherin.

What’s the earliest you’ve ever had to wake up for work? N/A Do you use reusable shopping bags to reduce waste? No, but I wish... I don't do the shopping in my house, so it's not really my decision. How many times have you moved? Three times *really*, but you could kinda say four when Jason, me, and our two friends/another couple moved into an apartment together; my name was in no way involved as being an official resident, but it eventually came to a point where I was there every day and night for quite a while. You can only shop at one store for the rest of your life where would it be? If you're talking about in order to buy everything, from food to clothes, I'd have to say Walmart. Do you text type or do you type out all your words? Mostly the latter, but I'll use "lol," "otw," stuff like that sometimes. Have you ever given money to a homeless person? No. I'mma be real honest, I don't think I ever would. I just DO NOT trust people. It's fact that the money is usually used for alcohol and drugs, and I've seen news of more than enough posing assholes. Who are you living with? My mom and pets. What are your opinions on colored contacts? Cool as fuck, wish I could wear them. Are you comfortable with your body? Fuck no. What is one thing in your life that is no longer there, that you miss? What kind of four wheeler do you have? I don't have and never have had one. Do you live where there are a lot of cows? Sure, I guess. What is your favorite animal with spots? Probably snow leopards. Give me your opinion on sports. I don't have a problem with them (save for like, boxing and ones that can seriously harm people), but I'm not into them. Why do you play the sports you do? N/A Do you actually care about your school work and what grades you make? Yes I care. Do you have a typical family, or a weird one? Honestly a pretty broken one. Do you have a favorite letter? Probably "z," particularly in cursive. From the room you're in can you hear a door shut when someone arrives there? Sometimes. What states have you been to in the past year? Just NC and Illinois. Well, I obviously flew over other states, but I've only stayed in those two. Have you ever sleepwalked? I have not. Do you want children? Why/why not? "Hell no. I don’t like kids and I don’t want the rest of my life to be centred around one." <<< That's a great description for myself as well. I know I would be a fucking awful mother, too. Not as in I'd be mean to my child, absolutely not, it's just I barely manage to take care of myself a lot of the time. I'm not emotionally fit for that job and the stress it entails, at all. And yeah, being willing to make someone else my world is something I'm never doing again. I want my attention to stay on myself, my spouse, and pets. Do you have any credit card debt? Hi, I'm 23 and don't own and never have owned a credit card. Who do you go to for relationship advice? Honestly, I don't. I look within myself for those answers, really. I think I'm pretty intelligent and aware of how to maintain a healthy relationship. There's been times I've talked to my mother about things, but yeah, she's not the greatest to talk about all that with. What was your favorite way to spend a summer day as a kid? Swimming. Have you ever been scammed? Not successfully. I think. Did you ever take a personal finance class in school? None were offered at my high school. I don't know if they are now at my college, though, but I don't think so. They need to be, and mandatory. I don't have the slightest goddamn clue how to handle money. How’s your mental health? Are you feeling well? I'm going through a rough patch right now. School is stressing me. Not having a job and struggling with money to the extreme is about to make my hair fall out. Do you struggle with acne? Not anymore. Did you have a Xanga page back in the pre-Myspace days? I've never had a Xanga. Around what year did you start using the internet, anyways? I was like, 9-10? Maybe even earlier with Webkinz and Neopets, idr. I know I started RP in 2005, and that's when I was very actively online. Do you have any uncommon interests or hobbies? A few. Forum RP is definitely the "weirdest," hence why I hide it publicly. Then there's photographing roadkill. The LOOKS Mom tells me I get when I'm on the ground next to a dead animal, lol. I've had questions, stares, and cars turn around aplenty to make sure I'm okay. I'm really self-conscious about doing it, but I really love doing it for the purpose of forcing eyes onto just how brutal roadkill can be because of us, and the validating comments I've gotten about it online pushes me to keep going with it. Well, that and of course just sincerely enjoying it. That being said, I like gore - in moderation, and some kinds are just off-limits without me getting grossed out. "Vulture culture" (the use of naturally deceased animals in some form of artwork) is also something I am very very interested in. Wet specimens of anything are cool as all fuck. There's a load of unconventional things I enjoy. What temperature do you keep your thermostat set at in the winter? Uhhhh idk, 70-something. Have you ever fostered an animal? No, but I am 110% fostering opossums once I get my own place and am authorized and properly equipped to do so. What is something you thought you’d never like, but you enjoy now? Hm. OH, ketchup. I hated that shit as a kid. Did your parents ever not let you watch any television shows as a child? Yeah, but none in exact come to mind. Basically like, MTV and stuff like that was a big no. How old were you when you had your first kiss? Who was this kiss with? I just turned 16. It was with Jason, my first "real" boyfriend. Have you ever betrayed one of your parents in any way at all? Doing what? I don't think so. What are your favorite stores to go to when you visit the mall? Hot Topic and Spencer's is like all I care about that we have available near here. Has anyone ever told you they don't like the way you run your life? Ohhhhhhhhhh, I wasn't the only one who experienced that with her. At all. Does it bother you when you comment someone’s pictures and they don't even comment you saying ‘thank you’ or comment one of your pictures? I find it rude if they in no way acknowledge a compliment, yes, but you don't have to say thanks. Just like, like/hearting the comment (I'm using Facebook as my platform here) says enough to me that you're appreciative. Now for the second half of the question, that's stupid. I don't care if someone doesn't comment on a picture. Or anything. When was the last time you had a shot? Are you behind on those right now? I had a few numbing shots into my gums when I had a cavity filled early this month/late last month since my tongue ring finally caused one. I'm not behind on any required ones. Have you ever had a really rare disease, virus, or illness? Really rare, I don't think so? When was the last time you just, genuinely went somewhere with friends? Been a looooooong time, idk. Probably not since I was still friends with Colleen. Would you consider yourself a hygiene freak, or do you not care much? Neither of those fit me. Though I'm more likely to neglect myself out of the two. It depends on how I'm doing. That hasn't entirely healed since recovery. Are you old enough to live by yourself or are you just mature enough? I'm definitely old enough, just not independent or healthy enough, or financially capable. What is one thing you stopped doing just because everyone else stopped? I've never moved with fads. Have you ever been considered the freak of your class at any time in life? "Freak" seems a bit strong of a word, but "the weird kid," probably. Have you ever been to a Sea World before? Which one in which state? As a kid, yes, in Florida. I wouldn't now as an adult; I do not even remotely support their captivity of whales. I don't know all the facts behind their business so can't speak for all the animals, and I am not against all animal captivity so long it is providing and with good purpose (conservation, education, etc.), but nothing will make me pay to support the incredibly incompetent housing and mistreatment of whales. Do you believe in any kind of magic? Is it the stereotypical kind? *shrugs* I mean I dunno, define "magic," I guess. I personally believe some form of greater intelligence created the universe, and I suppose that's "magic." The person I copied this from brought up a great point, too: Science itself can seem pretty magical, so where do you even draw the line? Ex., the evolution of caterpillar to butterfly. That shit's fuckin' wild. A living thing melts to mush and is reformed in an entirely and completely new body. With wings, dude. There are truly a lot of natural things that occur in our world that make that line we've created blurry. Are you currently working on any kind of project at this moment in time? An argumentative essay on climate change in College Writing, if you call that a "project." I haven't started writing truly in-depth yet and may switch my focus to arranged marriages (seems random, yeah, but they're from a set list of options relevant to the book we read), only because I get fucking heated talking about climate change, and our professor made a point of not "preaching," and I also have to be capable of writing a paragraph of concession, that being an acknowledgment of the opposing point and considering its views, but. I don't think I could give climate change deniers' mindset even a sliver of genuine thought. As absolutely awful and appalling as they are, at least I can see a reason (a terrible one, but you get me) like hastening procreation in arranged marriages. Okay wow rambling ANYWAY yeah, in the starting stages of writing an essay. Which do you do more: read books, spent time online, or watch television? I'm like... always online, so yeah. What do you do the most when you’re online? Listen to/watch YouTube. Which foot is bigger, your left or your right? I don't know, I've never noticed. Do you think you’re too old to go trick-or-treating? Personally I believe anyone should be able to, but by society's standards, I am. Do you have a bobblehead? No. Have you ever had a themed b-day party? As a kid, yeah. Were you afraid of heights as a child? Nope. Do you think it’s stupid when you’re dying to have someone pray that you don’t feel afraid? (I would want them to pray that I live, personally) No? I don't believe that there's power in prayer period, but it's kind, realistic, and encouraging to hope they stay unafraid. Death is natural and happens to every single living thing, so truly, we shouldn't fear death all too much. What’s the strangest thing you’ve wrapped a present in? Uh nothing? Do you enjoy and appreciate life? Or is this something you need to learn? I appreciate it very much, but I do need to learn to enjoy it more. Have you ever made a pom-pom out of yarn? No. Have you ever had a lead role in a play? N- oh wait, in Sunday school as a young child, I was Mary in one. I don't remember HOW large the role was, but I would assume it was relatively big. Do you know how to use iMovie? I've never really tried it. I could probably figure it out pretty quickly, though. Would you raise your kids differently than your parents raised you? In some ways. For one, I would fucking not spank them. What was the best part about college? I most enjoy the flexibility of my schedule. It's not a 7-hour or whatever day every weekday. If you were homeschooled, did you come up with a school mascot? If so, what? N/A How many times a day do you check your cell to see if you have a text? Whenever it vibrates. Ever wonder if the person you hate will become the person you marry? *Hated but lmao that might just happen. If you could live in three places, a year each, where would they be? Germany, California, and maybe Canada. Your choice of transportation for anything: camel, jet pack or carriage? Carriage, probably. Think of a movie and now give me that movie title: The last person said Titanic so now I'm thinking romances, so The Notebook. Quote a line from that movie: "Tell me I'm a bird." "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." I wanted that as a tattoo with my spouse one day once upon a time. Aw! A line from your wedding vows is now: I want to recite the Corpse Bride vows with my partner. I don't feel like looking them up rn. Name a song: "God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Marilyn Manson, 'cuz that's what I'm listening to. What’s a line from that song? "Sure as God made black and white, what's done in the dark will be brought to the light." Name your two favorite characters from a TV show or movie: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Lust and Envy, probably. When was the last time you fell asleep in a car? I dunno. How often do you think about death? Not too often? Do you believe what comes around goes around? Not always, but cause and effect makes it so sometimes. What about everything happens for a reason? NOPE. Can you sing? Not well. What kinds of little advertisements are on this page right now? None rn. Has something really heavy ever fallen on you? I don't believe so. Do you have any freckles on your feet? No. If you wear makeup, what colors do you usually wear? Black, when I do. I barely ever wear makeup, though. If you have more than one pet, do they ever get jealous of each other? BENTLEY DOES, particularly with guests (once he trusts them, anyway). If Teddy is getting attention, odds are he's gonna come on over and stick his nose in it. Do you have any brightly colored pants? No. Is there a room in your house that you don’t like going in? The laundry room. It's either hot or cold as fuck, depending on the season. Can you solve a Rubik’s Cube? No. I'm not good at planning future steps. Do you remember the last question you were asked? What did you answer? Well, besides the last survey question, I really don't. Besides salt and butter, do you put anything on your popcorn? No.

BnHA Chapter 157: Giant Zelda Boss
Previously on BnHA: The badass lady squad kicked some villain ass (even if it did take them a while). Toga showed up disguised as Deku and directed the heroes to where Nighteye and co. were fighting Overhaul underground. They crashed onto the scene as Toga, Twice, and Compress watched from the street above. Twice and Toga told Compress to go kidnap Eri, and he was all “:/ but it’s dangerous” but in the end they bullied him into going down there. Overhaul tried to escape with Eri and Deku leaped after them. We learned that Eri was the granddaughter of the Precepts’ boss, and her mom abandoned her, so the boss put her in Overhaul’s care. Apparently she had an unknown quirk that had somehow killed her biological father. Overhaul experimented and found out her quirk had something to do with “rewinding.” Then the rest of it we already knew -- Overhaul continued to hurt her and she had to suffer through it and eventually she was conditioned to blame herself and to believe that she was “cursed.” But now with everyone trying to rescue her, her quirk is apparently “awakening” with her desire to somehow save them all. omg.
Today on BnHA: Deku grabs Eri and says he’s not gonna let go! Overhaul, who has reverted back to his normal form, is all GIVE HER BACK, and creates some stabby rock tentacle claws to try and get at them. Deku instinctively uses 100% OFA to escape to the surface, and then panics afterwards, thinking that he’s broken his legs. But surprisingly, they’re fine. Meanwhile, Overhaul fuses himself with another unconscious minion and heads after them. Nighteye tells Ryuukyuu and the others that he saw the future and that Overhaul is going to pursue Eri and kill Deku, and that even if they go after him they won’t win. Back on the street level, Deku realizes that all of his injuries have been healed, but then he promptly crumples over in pain. Overhaul, having transformed into some sort of multi-limbed giant rock dragon man, explains that Eri’s quirk gives her the ability to “rewind” humans, and that she can’t control it. But Deku decides this is the perfect opportunity to activate OFA Full Cowl at 100% and just have Eri heal him as he goes. He’s gonna BREAK BONES LIKE NO ONE HAS EVER BROKEN BONES BEFORE.
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’ve read up through chapter 187 now, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
oh! I like this!!
Tumblr media
“the determination to be saved” YESSSS ERI YESSSSS
also, going back to the previous panel for a second, what is going on??
Tumblr media
what happened to Overhaul and Nemo? they unfused?? did she rewind time and undo all his bullshit?
anyway Deku has her now and he says this time he’s not letting go of her! YAY
AHHHHH
Tumblr media
FUCK. SOMEONE SWAT IT WITH A NEWSPAPER
also Horikoshi’s love of drawing hands has officially gone too far. that is SO FUCKING DISTURBING. and also AWESOME, GODDAMMIT
like, look at how his fingers are separating the panels in the bottom right corner. fuck this artistic bullshit
also why is Deku worried about his ability to move? it’s not like Overhaul is any better off. he’s disintegrating the platform he was standing on so he can literally fall at them. you’re both falling. just dodge him. it’s not like he’s any more mobile than you are, and he doesn’t have 20% OFA or 8% or whatever the fuck you’re using right now
anyway he’s hugging Eri determinedly and glaring at Overhaul and again thinking that he won’t let her go no matter what
oh cool are we flashing back to one of the best lines in this arc? I’m down with that
Tumblr media
nice to see Deku getting back to his roots
nice to see Horikoshi getting back to his roots, actually. pacing has picked up again, art style is back in full swing, and Deku is thinking determined thoughts about heroically saving others? this is the manga I fell in love with
Tumblr media
...maybe I spoke too soon
Tumblr media
wait, what? did he just make a giant claw cliff only to grab himself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay but what the fuck is happening, though?
wha
Tumblr media
that’s what I... you know what, never mind
OH MY GOD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DID YOU BREAK YOUR FUCKING LEGS DEKU YOU FUCK
Tumblr media
ARE THEY!?
I can’t tell?? they don’t look anything like they did the last time he used 100%, but the one time it happened with his legs, it looked pretty different from when he breaks his arms. with his arms his sleeves usually rip right off and he’s all noodley and floppy. but with his legs, his pants always seem to stay intact to preserve his modesty. which is very thoughtful of you, OFA
anyway, down in the basement, Ryuukyuu and the others are saying they felt some sort of shockwave, so it’s indeed seeming like he broke his vow to never use OFA at full strength until he mastered it
I forgive him though. do you guys. I fully forgive him. as long as it actually worked oh please god let it have worked
hmm?
Tumblr media
SHE WHAT. WHAT’S HER QUIRK GODDAMMIT
he’s screaming at Eri (even though she’s not there) that he needs her “in order to realize Pops’s ambition”
well too bad
Ryuukyuu looks very concerned, and I didn’t understand why, but then I remembered that even though Deku and Eri got to safety, the rest of them are all still stuck down there with him lol
it honestly didn’t even occur to me to be concerned. I don’t know why. I just assume they can handle themselves
NIGHTEYE WHY ARE YOU TALKING
Tumblr media
I mean, we already knew that though
omg
Tumblr media
...well shit
but I mean. did he really see that? because if so, that’s officially the first vision he’s had that we 100% know is not going to come true. so I guess they’re not infallible after all
and of course Ochako is FREAKING OUT now
Tumblr media
oh no but she’s falling down now for some reason
(ETA: I guess she’s still fatigued from all the vitality-absorbing attacks earlier)
Nighteye says that he saw it
Ryuukyuu’s turning in disbelief asking him if he thinks they’d just go along with what he’s saying after hearing that
but he says that in their current condition they can’t win
Tumblr media
EXACTLY
Nighteye is all “...”
and he’s giving Tsuyu directions to where Mirio is
and he’s asking Ochako and Ryuukyuu to help him to the surface omg
ARE YOU GOING TO SACRIFICE YOURSELF
meanwhile back on the surface, Deku is landing!
and HIS LEGS AREN’T BROKEN OMG
Tumblr media
IT’S ERI’S QUIRK
he’s asking her about it!
Tumblr media
oh shit and now something’s happening
Tumblr media
“RRIP” is not a good fx for one’s body to be making, generally speaking. though jury is still out on “ZZGGGG”
oh shit
Tumblr media
look Overhaul, I’m going to allow you to make one last stand for just long enough that you can explain how this quirk works. and then you can fucking die
he says she doesn’t know how to stop it
siiiiiiiiiigh
Tumblr media
you really went and made yourself into a giant Zelda boss. and made yourself into its fucking tongue
anyway he’s continuing to explain, and it seems it is indeed a time-rewinding quirk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
actually that quirk sounds amazing. once she’s able to control it she’s going to be a BEAST. offensively and defensively this is a winner. I can’t believe she had to put up with so many assholes telling her she’s cursed. cursed with being fucking awesome, maybe
(ETA: question, the way Overhaul phrases this makes it sound like she can rewind literally anything. do we know if there is a limit? is it limited to just living things, or organic materials? or is it literally anything, because if yes, holy shit though?)
Overhaul’s telling Deku to return Eri to him. hahahahaha. full of jokes now, are ya
“there’s no way to stop her other than her disassembly” um, nah. pretty sure she’s capable of stopping herself if they can get her to calm down. which could probably easily be accomplished if you would just kindly step off and go fuck yourself
anyway, Deku’s strapping Eri to his back. oh damn
he gets it now. the instant his leg broke, she reverted it before he could even feel the pain
he says it’s a kind, gentle quirk
oh my god Deku yes. say it louder for her to hear!
oh
Tumblr media
oh baby girl it’s okay
oh fucking shit, of course Deku immediately thinks of how to appropriate this quirk for his own reckless needs
Tumblr media
DEKU YOU SELF-DESTRUCTIVE LITTLE LUNATIC
(ETA: “CONSTANTLY ACCUMULATING INJURIES AT AN EVEN GREATER SPEED...!” jesus christ he is so fucking excited to have found this new and revolutionary way to wreck his body more efficiently than ever!!)
Tumblr media
HIS HAIR SPIKED UP LIKE ALL MIGHT’S OMG!!??
DID THE SHAPE OF HIS FUCKING FACE CHANGE?? IT LOOKS MORE ANGULAR AND LIKE HIS BABY FAT IS SOMEHOW GONE ALL OF A SUDDEN?
I WISH I COULD SEE HIS MUSCLES, ARE THEY ALL BIG
(ETA: normal! so we’re still not sure how All Might does it, but that’s okay)
THIS KID IS ACTUALLY INSANE. “WILL YOU LEND ME YOUR POWER” FUCKING MAYBE ASK THAT BEFORE YOU GO AND DO THIS
NIGHTEYE REALLY PREDICTED HIM DYING EVEN AT ALL MIGHT LEVELS OF STRENGTH? JUST HOW BADLY IS HE SOMEHOW GOING TO MANAGE TO FUCK THIS UP
OH MY GOD LET’S KEEP READING AND FIND OUT
BONUS:
okay first off we have an “afterword” by Horikoshi announcing that this arc will finally come to an end in the next volume, and thanking everyone who’s sent him fan letters, and apologizing that he doesn’t have time to respond to them
he also talks about how tired he is and how energy drinks aren’t as effective anymore
I’m pretty worried about him burning out now tbh. Jump always works their best mangaka to the bone, and it’s a problem
other than that, there’s just the back of the volume 17 cover, which has Eri clutching her beloved Lemilliocape and more or less looking like she’s come straight out of some sort of apocalyptic AU
Tumblr media
how did her clothes and bandages get so raggedy omg. Overhaul is just the worst caretaker in the history of time

Bi Visibility Day Book Recs
@fucktheg0ds has inspired me to make a book rec post for Bi Visibility Day. So here are my top book recs with bi protagonists.
Short Version: Rulebreaker by Cathy Pegau, On the Rocks by Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings, Big Man by Matthew J. Metzger, Off Limits by Vanessa North, The Song of Sir Chaucey by Katy Williams, and The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine.
Long version beneath the cut.
Rulebreaker by Cathy Pegau
This was the first f/f romance I ever loved. It’s a sci-fi spy romp, with a thief seducing an important woman in a futuristic corporation in order to get at her secrets. (Actually, I might be talking about it more for Dark Femslash Week because the dynamic is certainly interesting...) I loved it for the secrets and the angst and maybe a little bit the sexiness...it’s a Harlequin book so you know what you’re in for.
The POV character is bi. In fact, I think she tends to be more interested in guys than girls, but she’s still into her target...a little more than she should be lols. I like FMCs who like guys a bit more than girls, actually, because that’s pretty much where I fall on the Kinsey scale. So, relatable.
On the Rocks by Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings
(Secret secret: Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings are two pennames for the same author. And she’s amazing.)
If Rulebreaker was the first f/f romance I ever loved, On the Rocks is perhaps my favorite f/f romance to this day. It’s also fuckign long, clocking in at 528 pages, which I suspect is one reason I like it actually...the longer I spend with characters the more time I have to bond. Anyways it’s a contemporary novel about a billionaire businesswoman and her gold-digger girlfriend. It starts with the two in an established relationship and goes on to show the bumps along the way as their relationship goes from “rich woman and sugar baby” to something more serious. It also shows the businesswoman coming out of the closet and into a political spotlight because of her social status. Also there’s a lot of sex.
Why do I love this book so much? I don’t know. Maybe because the businesswoman MC is such a badass jerk, frustrated at dealing with her girlfriend’s feelings, angry at having to deal with the press and with the complications of coming out of the closet, and often casually insensitive or rude when it suits her. She’s a total alpha female, and I love those, especially when they’re the main character and given POV time instead of being relegated to love interest. But I’ve read other Billings books since this one with less alpha in them, and I’ve loved those too, so it might also just be Billings’ writing style.
Both MCs in this book are bi, and our businesswoman MC is in her first f/f relationship, which causes her a good deal of angst.
Big Man by Matthew J. Metzger
This one is, surprisingly, YA. It’s also m/m. I have less of a rant prepared since I read it fairly recently and have simpler feelings, but basically it’s a book about a cis boy who starts learning Muay Thai to fight off bullies and falls for a trans boy he meets at the gym. This also brings him to the realization that he’s bi. I know, it sounds problematic, but it’s handled really well, and the author is trans himself so just trust him.
I thought the relationship blooming between the two MCs was very sweet. It involves sexual exploration but in a way appropriate for a YA book, and I like the way Metzger describes attraction, and the complexity of attraction when you’re not yet sure whether you’re straight or gay or bi or what. Oh, and for extra bi points, the MC’s mom is also bi.
Off Limits by Vanessa North
This book actually came out today (September 24) but I was lucky enough to get an ARC and read it ahead of time. It’s a fairly simple romance. One MC works at a fancy club as the concierge but also has a secret night job in a raunchy band, and the other MC is a member of the club who sees her performing and falls in...lust? and then they almost hook up, but the concierge MC is like “oh wait you’re a client of the place I work at, that would probably be bad. we can’t hook up and also please never tell anyone I sing in a raunchy band k thanks bye.” BUT THEYRE STILL INTO EACH OTHER. How long can the concierge/singer’s double life go on?
I don’t remember whether it’s directly stated that the MCs are bi, but they’re both women, and we know the concierge has hooked up with men in the past and that the rich client MC is briefly unsure of the concierge’s gender and still is completely dtf. So I think they’re both bi. I’m gonna go with it.
The Song of Sir Chaucey by Katy Williams
This book!! It’s a novella and so underhyped! Like, not surprising bc it’s a small press piece about a genderfluid individual and it’s novella length but! My most underhyped fave! So basically our MC, Chaucey, is a knight who would be generally called biologically female, but his mom wants him to be a son for inheritance reasons and so raises him as a man. Chaucey isn’t sure whether he identifies as a man or a woman or both or neither and explores this for much of the book, which is a mix of romance and adventure.
Oh and Chaucey is bi. He has two love interests in the book, one male and one female.
The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine
And this, my final book, is the opposite of underhyped. But it’s not overhyped bc can you hype queer books enough I think not. It’s a fantasy YA novel about a girl who all her life has been told she’s destined to wield powerful magic and be the queen of her country, but turns out to be unable to wield said magic and is forced to flee for her life! And in the wildnerness, she discovers her abilities lie in a somewhat different area. Also she joins a rebellion, as you do.
Our MC is bi. She starts off the book crushing on a girl who spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler eventually dies. By the end of the book she’s kind of together with a guy? That might change tho, this is the first book of a series and I still haven’t read the sequel, which I hear has a different MC but is also queer.
This book is pretty well known and pretty just...around...so I bet you could get it at the library.
THOSE ARE MY BI BOOK RECS. GO FORTH AND READ.

ok, who bet it’d take me this long to make a BNHA AU for Superverse lol
in this universe, our already established heroes were all there right; the Power Pals were a thing, and they saved the world from the super villain group The Body of Evil, but both sides had casualties. Crimson Chin was sort of a rookie/apprentice to Super Sam there, and was one of the survivors, and became poster child for heroism because he was young and survived, and blahblahblah. Catman was there too, but he got hurt and sorta retired. but after that, there weren’t *really* any super or villain teams
fast forward to the present, and there are rumors that the Body of Evil are trying to reform, and looking for young recruits as a great evil is resurfacing. so the Chin goes to the school to try to help Catman protect the students from corruption and whatevers; they also suspect that a member of the staff might be an evil plant, but they can’t figure out who (spoilers there is one; Mrs. Sunshine is actually the villainous Doombringer and she is, in fact, pulling a Medusa on them)
but enough about plot, lets talk about the kids! lol
Timmy Turner
Quirk: Luck/Probability Manipulation
Tim’s quirk went unrecognized for a very long time, since it’s very passive in teh way that everything just naturally seems to go his way...even when it seems competely improbable. he’s never wrong when it come sto situations, and he comes out of tough scrapes with ery few, if any, injuries or inconvienaes himself. it was after the loss of his Dad that his ability was really figured out; their home was collateral damage during a super fight, and while his Dad died and his Mom was left in a coma, Tim escaped completely unharmed from the wreckage
Nicole Amsel (Gertrude Summers)
Quirk: Weapon Manifestation-Fire Arms
Cole here entered the school with her own agenda; she knows there’s a traitor in the school, and is trying to find them to get information out of them about where her family was kidnapped to. of course, she doesn’t bother telling anyone what’s going on, so she’s suspected as being a traitor...that and the fact that the new villain that pops up who can manifest blades *coughBabyShreddercough* seems to recognize her and calls her out doesn’t help her case at all.
her quirk works in the way that she can basically pull firearms out of her body at will...of course she has to be in good health to do that, and needs  to know the make of the weapon she wants. she typically sticks to hand guns, but can create larger caliber weapons. this also explains her long coat, cause she just constantly is reaching in and pulling things out lol
Sanjay Dev
Quirk: Sound Projection
Sanjay’s mother is either quirkless or has a very passive quirk, but in the field of quirk studies i guess, so he had no problem getting supplemental training growing up. he also knows how to use tech to his advantage too, seeing as his powers basically let him scream with a sonic projection, but due to his flight glider pack, he’s able to manipulate his powers enough to give himself limited flight.
he also got into the school on recommendation, and was not present for the main big test day, so no one knew who he was the first day of school
Francis James
Quirk: Bovine Physiology
he’s actually older than the rest of his classmates, because he was a homeless street punk, getting in trouble with the law. Catman crossed paths with him and took pitty on him, offering him the chance to attend the school instead of going to jail. Francis took the offer, figuring he’d just ditch it...but turns out going to school counts as his parole pretty much.
he’s another obvious plant for the “who’s the traitor???” plot, but he does not have a connection to the BoE going in...but he is one that they approach later on to join them
Chester McBadbat
Quirk: Matter/Energy Conversion
Chester’s dad (or grandfather, not sure yet) once tried to be a Pro Hero and...yeah...he was branded as “the worst hero of all time”
Chester’s ability allows him to consume any type of matter and his body will convert it into energy, which he burns through to achieve super sonic speeds and the like. this means he’s nearly constantly eating, and if he’s not eating he’s dead asleep because his metabolism is super high.
Molly Wright
Quirk: Power Mimic
the oils in Molly’s hands act as some sort of conductor that will first temporarily paralyze anyone she touches, and secondly give her the instinctual knowledge of their fighting moves and a copy of their quirk powers. this is only on her hands though, so she constantly wears gloves (and if they don’t breathe right will just intensify the potency of the oils in her skin)
she comes to school with the attitude of “i’m here to learn not to make friends or a comic book deal”
Missy Lebowitz
Quirk: Impenetrable Skin
Missy is Luke Cage ok, unbreakable skin, and has built up her own athleticism over the years to be more muscularly toned. she is quite literally the tank, and she’s not ashamed of it
Trixie Tang
Quirk: Glamazon Might (known) and Energy Blasts (unknown)
the Glamazons are actually a group of heroic women, mostly related to one another, and all share a similar power set. the current leader is Harmonia, but she’s getting old and is going to step down and is looking for a successor. Joan Jett was a Glamazon, but she was one of the PP that was lost in the big battle. Shannon is a retired Glamazon, but she does teach at the school, whole Marigold is the most active and publicly noted Glamazon currently.
Trixie here is the youngest Glamazon, and could have just attend school without going through the entrance exams because she had full recommendations, but she still took the exams to prove she was worthy of attending.
she is the biological child of Joan and Sam (Glamazons are known for quirk marriages), but her secondary quirk, which was inherited from her father, hasn’t really become prevalent yet since all the Glamazons basically share a similar enough power set of super strength, speed, and durability
Veronica Star
Quirk: Avian Physiology
Veronica was born with bird wings and feathers, but as she got older she molted and became more human-like in appearance, but her avian features are still very prevalent. she has hollow bones like a bird, and a matching circulatory system to match. she can fly, and doesn’t eat meat.
she really wants to be a Glamazon, so she follows Trixie like a groupie at first
Chloe Carmichael
Quirk: Persuasion (Mind Control)
Chloe’s powers were always thought to be very passive; she was always good at talking to people, and getting them to talk about their problems and work through issues, so she originally applied to be in the support class, figuring her skills woudl be better suited for like social work or something
but Doombringer recognized that her powers weren’t just persuasion, but showed signs of actual mind control, if she was trained properly, so she switched Chloe’s application from the Support pile to the Hero pile
since the Support class was filled up, Chloe settled on doing at least a semester of the Hero course, because it wouldn’t hurt after all if she wound up going into hero-Public relations instead
and as i said, Catman sorta seems to be in charge of the school, while Shannon (Wandergal) is also a teacher, when CC joins the staff. and Doombringer works there too, but as Mrs. Sunshine, because she’s working for the bad guys. Vicky shows up to annoy people at some point, to throw suspicion onto Tootie (because they are still sisters), and Kevin might join up later down the road too as a defector from the evil team
so BNHA AU for Superverse. whooot!

I've figured out an odd thing about my Inner EEK voice
The one that goes, "No don't waste that!"
The one that says, "Why are you wasting your money on that?"
The one that says "Ahh don't do that!"
The one that basically is a worrier and constantly saying Eek about anything it considers wasteful or useless or not worth spending time or - far more often, - money on.
It has an inner label of "Mom".
Like, I don't actually hear a voice. It's just the unspoken, unheard, unvoiced words in my head. There's no face or form attached, just the impression of movement and gesture and expression - taller than me, female, a watchful worrier. A hand and arm thrown at as if they're the driver in a car that made a sudden stop and going to catch a young teen in the passenger seat so they don't hit the dash.
Very strongly tied to the idea of Mom.
I used to think this inner critic, this inner paranoid voice, was my Mom. Not like literally, but like... You hear someone say something enough and much later you can still kinda hear the saying it again. Kinda like how I can still hear the old tired dad jokes in my dad's voice, his smart-ass answers to "I'm hungry/I'm bored" or "What time is it" etc.
But even though Mom - the person I've thought of as Mom since I was about 7 or so, even though she's technically my stepmom - is a pretty cautious and paranoid person, she's never really said most of the things the Eek voice does.
Throwing her arm out to catch you when driving, that's all her though, lol.
But. The rest of it. It's just not really her. She was never really that strongly opinionated about most of the things the Eek voice is.
It's still very strongly tied to the concept of "Mom" though... And today, while "talking" with it and with depression and all the other little brain-echoes, really listening close to what they have to say and why they say it, I realized.
That's my mother's voice.
Not my momma momma, not the one who basically raised me since I was 6, aside from a one year interval I spent with the real foundation of the voice: my mother.
My biological mother. Mama Lisa. She was broker than anything I ever experienced with Mom and Dad.
She worried, a lot, I know.
I don't clearly remember her saying any of the things the Eek voice does. I was in kindergarten, and though I have several fairly clear memories of that time, I don't clearly remember things said. But I remember things done, including other instances where she displayed some pretty evident concern, despite trying really hard not to make me worry.
And, well... It's hard to explain it, but... The Eek voice just fits her better.
I'm being careful, of course, in dealing with it, not to let it turn into a tulpa. It's not really self-aware, though it is capable of rudimentary conservation on limited topics. It's mostly just echoes, repeated by an anxious brain that doesn't really have anything concrete to latch that anxiety on to.
But God Almighty, it's her.
And her, I can convince that I'm OK. I'm in a better place than we were, I can afford to eat some of the food that's in the cabinet even if I'm not super hungry. Even if some of it might go to waste. We have the money, we can buy more food, it's ok.
But what if the money runs out?
That's ok, we'll just earn some more. That's how money works, you know.
Don't need to be a smartass with me.
I'm not, Mama Eek. I'm just teasing. But yeah. It's gonna be ok. We've got more than enough, and a good job.
If you're sure... And then oh gods, I see her blonde hair and small form shaking her head the way she used to, the way that's oh so dim but oh so precious in my memory. Faded and fading away, the image settling back down now that my brain is satisfied - still somewhat suspicious, but mostly satisfied - that we really aren't in any danger.
I'm sure. Now go rest. I'm fine. Thanks for your concern.
Love you.

took my measurements last night and they’re pretty lousy. i really need to reduce my waist size and get rid of all the belly fat.
forgot to bring my earphones to work, thought it would help with reducing my mobile data usage bcos i’ve exceeded my limit. i feel naked without my earphones. the last time i forgot to take them with me to work was last year, i think. they make me feel safe, like i could block out the world if i wanted to
im typing this on the notes app of my phone and while on the way to work
ytd night chose sleep over continuing the rest of midsommar and i don’t regret it; everybody should choose sleep over a horror movie after a tiring work day
dreams last night: of being loved by someone who feels familiar, flawed, and strangle even...familial (not in an incestuous way. i ship incest sometimes, but man, not in my own family lol ew)
//
i want to shop lol
i hate shopping bt i want so spend a lot of money tmr
tmr i want to: run in morn, learn jap, do up cards and presents for friends (L and YL), eat, shop, eat, walk, prac uke (if there’s time), avatard and walkies w C
i rly want to shop for pretty things like blouses and long skirts and dresses and tarte cosmetics
even if i don’t deserve pretty things, i can now afford them with my own income Woooo000
wishlist:
- tarte flirt palette and surf’s up lipstick (it’s my go-to palette lol, i find one make-up thing that works and stick with it forever)
- eyeliner (charcoal brown)
- rollerball chloé edp
- midi skirt
- black blouse
- dresses
- everything from editor’s market lol (BUT IM TOO FAT FOR ALL THEIR CLOTHES)
//
i put some green tea cream on my face earlier
i haven’t developed a very severe case of wrinkles yet though i can see my nasalobial folds — they arent deep, but they’re there
physically speaking, getting older isn’t much fun. i’m finding it harder to lose weight, my hair is thinning, my pores seem to be getting bigger, i can no longer get away without warming up before a workout
but i like it. when i don’t speak, i tend to get mistaken by other adults as someowho’s 19-21. i’m super flattered when someone thinks i’m 27, but my colleague says most ppl enjoy being mistaken ss someone older when they’re young and vice versa
hmm im not sure abt that. 25 isn’t young anymorr
i also have a feeling that while looking young is nice, id want to look like i’m permanently 30 (in a classy angelina jolie in mr and mrs smith way) and sound like i’m 125 on the inside
im much less...psycho and emotional these days
and im actually — dare i say it — having fun???
as a teen, i couldn’t understand ‘fun’ lol
the concept completely eluded me
sure, im uglier now and older
but yo im truly having more fun than i’ve ever had lol
nobody believes me because my natural speaking voice is flatter than kaguya’s chest
//
i read the horoscope these days for shits and giggles
mostly it’s just a tongue-in-cheek exercise to re-direct unpleassng thoughts; i want less self-condemnation, and more blaming a natal chart that’s beyond my control (which you owe to when your parents decided to woohoo without protection and a couple of other biological stuff)
the aries profile sounds like a fucking maniac with anger management issues
but in my case, that might actually be true
whenever something goes wrong, i’ll blame it on my aries
the sex stuff on horoscopes is particularly hilarious
apparently allure magazine thinks aries are into ‘quickies in unusual places’
These pants-dropping, skirt-hiking fire signs are no stranger to quickies in unusual places, so don’t be surprised if your Aries lover wants to experiment with sex outside of the bedroom. Aries rules the head, so ask your Aries partner if they’d be into some extra hair-tousling, scalp-rubbing, or ponytail-pulling — chances are the answer will be an enthusiastic yes.
so according to the stars, i’m the lame public sex guy who films my escapades in some unsanitary subway station restroom, using a steve jobs potato camera so it’s not clear whether i’m actually fucking someone or just pretending to
great
These hot-blooded warriors should experiment with moves from behind: This sexy animalistic posture is perfect for impromptu trysts and sudden eruptions of desire.
lmao
oh wait someone beats the aries at being the public sex guy
and that’s the...SAGITTARIUS
While these fire signs enjoy the raw physicality of lovemaking, their absolute favorite form of passion is exploration (with a hint of danger). Sag’s erogenous zone is the hips, so saddle up for an enjoyably rough ride with these equestrian fire signs. For an extra kick, move the intimacy outdoors: Public sex is a huge turn on for these wild horses, especially when there’s the added thrill of being caught.
it’s my mom’s sign, shd i tell her? lol
//
i want to try to be a morning runner
will plan a proper to-do list for my off day tmr

My unlikely pro-life, pro-science, pro-God views, Part 4
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
So back to where I left off in part 3.
Why Michelle? I hear also, often people saying:
“I just had my 3 kids in 3 years and I was done. It’s just easier to get it over with”
I agree that sounds very attractive, but it doesn’t fit my world view. More in Part 4. There will probably be a part 5 as well.
What is my worldview on this issue?
I believe fertility is a gift from God and is purposeful. I didn’t always think this way. There is a type A, controlling part of me that would love to know what my future holds, and that I could have more say on the issues of my body and my future.
A lot of people tend to questions or comments like this:
“So, when are you going back to work?”
“Oh the little years are really hard, but... they’ll be off to school and then you can have your life back again.”
How does a family decide that they are “done” having children??
I remember feeling paralyzed for a season of life, wondering what my future holds and asking God how much control am I allowed to have regarding these decisions of my reproduction. I was in need of encouragement during the “little years” have having 2 kids under 4 and wondering where this all was coming to, and what to do with all the comments people make, and what people assume a woman is supposed to do with their reproductive years.
I visited a mother’s retreat in May 2018, with plenty of “large family” mothers. It was a wonderful testimony to me, and the sanity (or insanity depending on your outlook) I needed to see. Women using their reproductive years for what God intended... making babies and raising them for the Lord! I met a 42 year old who was expecting her 13th child and basically has had a child every 2 years. I met a woman who brought her last child with her, a 10 year old that she gave birth to in her late 40′s. From where I am, some people might regard that as wasting your career opportunity or wasting your life. But I would like to turn it around, to what I consider as a God’s point of view of using your life the way God intended it (especially as a married fertile person) and giving your life up (in a worldly sense) that you might gain what is truly sense (in a godly sense).
So yeah, I do hope to be a “pregnant grandma”. It’s a crazy dream in some ways. I hope my daughter marry young (as the Lord wills) and that I get to be a grandmother maybe in my 40s and... be pregnant with my own little one. Not because I want to be a pregnant grandma per se. I just want to be faithful to use the fertility that God has given me. If that doesn’t happen, then that’s okay.
I can hear questions and concerns like:
“Oh won’t you be really tired?”
“Isn’t that risky for you, and the baby?”
My response is that when you are young, having a baby is going to be tiring. And with anything in life there is a level of risk. We do what we can to stay healthy and fit and if God grants us children, who am I to reject this gift?
To the parent who says they had 3 kids in 3 years and they are done... I wouldn’t be able to do that unless it was clear to me that it was truly life threatening for me to have more children (then again, I am on the fence on that issue, actually). I am fearful of saying no to God when it is so, so clear to me that God gets to make the call on my fertile years and if he gives me fertility and I am married, it would be just selfish and disobedient for me to be dodging children, and even dodging my husband.
For those who are told they have life threatening issues I can’t really say too much other than I don’t know your health history and I am not a doctor. However I have heard of stories of women who continued to have successful pregnancies even though their doctors told them not to have more. Sorry my view of doctors at this point is pretty low. I think God knows what he’s doing. Call me crazy, but I want to seek His wisdom and not my own. And truthfully I haven’t been in the shoes where I have been told this kind of news but I have had health care professionals cast burdens on me because of things that happened in my past that were simply not true of the present (E.g. my traumatic birth experience of bleeding too much and PTSD). I believe with each pregnancy things can be made new and God determines life... and death as well. I met a mom of 7 (now 8 coming soon) that compared her life to a missionary. She says missionaries are willing to die for their faith, she thought why wouldn’t she be willing to die for her faith by obeying God in this area? (I know this stuff is really sensitive... who would want to lose their spouse over child birth? But it happens whether you know you are at risk or not... does that mean we just compromise our faith to avoid death? Is it really to each their own??) It’s really is odd to me how we can sometimes compromise to avoid death and call it stewardship, yet we are willing to honor certain measures to risk our lives for the sake of proclaiming the Gospel. What if living out our faith doesn’t mean just dying for preaching the good news but trying to be faithful in all things and proclaim that Jesus is Lord over every area of your life no matter what the cost is? What does good stewardship mean, if it requires me to compromise my God-given convictions? Are there just some convictions we ought to die for, and some that are not worthy of dying for since we have “wisdom” we can use to “steward” that God has given us?
“Oh I’m too old to have children” I hear women in their mid 30s or in their 40′s say... well perhaps you are older but their are plenty of women who didn’t have children in their 20s who try so hard to make all the eggs count before their fertility dwindles and these women are in their 30s, and 40s. So for me, as a person who started having kids in my 20s, who am to say to God, “I’m done” when God isn’t done?
FYI, there are also health BENEFITS to being pregnant and breastfeeding. Did you know that the fewer periods you have in your life, the less likely you will get things like ovarian cancer, and breastfeeding is also good for not just baby but for the child. Talk about pro-life for mother and baby! And not only that, God created our bodies and I totally see this as a God thing.
“Oh I’m not ready for kids yet, we have to save up to buy X, Y, Z. It would be irresponsible to have kids if we can’t provide for X, Y, Z”.
This is where I wonder where the couple’s priorities lie. Man- are you willing to work and provide for your family? Woman- are you willing to be open to the wonderful task of child bearing? Husband and wife- have you considered God’s first instruction to humankind was to be fruitful and multiply? I don’t think this “optional”. Neither do I think this is mandatory for those who aren’t able to conceive. Neither do I think this mandate is limited to physical offspring as I know Jesus enlightens us with the great commission and that God desires “godly offspring”. However I don’t want these other issues to distract me from what I’m actually talking about. The biologically NORMAL outcome of CHILDREN from a godly MARRIAGE is a GOOD thing and a GOD thing. Why, Christian would you not WANT such a GOOD thing from GOD? Sorry but (wait, I’m not really sorry, sorry), I am very passionate about these questions and desiring earnestly to find satisfying answers on this. I never thought myself to be passionate about much growing up so this is very surprising to me...
It’s just clear to me about God’s design (what should be normal), and I’m sensitive to the issue that if there is lack of Biblical teaching in a certain area of life the world is happy to swoop in and teach us it’s ways if we aren’t cautiously comparing our thoughts to the word of God. God’s word never changes! Our circumstances might change but God’s word doesn’t. I can’t be the judge of all circumstances and I know there’s always more to the story than I have been given so I will try to keep asking questions, give people the benefit of the doubt and seek to understand. *exhale*
Further questions to consider... this is becoming an exhausting topic as it isn’t simple. But at the same time it is though... isn’t it?
- What if you feel called by God to do a certain ministry that requires you to have fewer children?  - If you do choose to reduce the amount of potential children in your family, how do you go about doing that in a way that honours the Lord and does not compromise God’s other commands and intentions for your life? - Does “pro- life” mean having tons of kids?  - Is it ever irresponsible to have “too many” children? - How do you desire something while trusting in the sovereignty of God?  - Is our perception of choice, and control a reality or merely something we perceive as reality when it really isn’t the case?
More of my thought’s wrestlings, I can’t really say how many parts there will be anymore lol. Thank you for reading and for those who inspire me to write. I earnestly desire that we have a common faith in the Lord Jesus and live like Jesus is Lord. I understand this issue isn’t a primary issue but it is dear to my heart and I don’t want to compromise and I want to build up those who are desiring to work out their salvation, as I am trying to as well. Love and blessings.
