📡 _a/n. been listening to ‘there is a light that never goes out’ on repeat lately, so i did what i had to and themed a post around it !! riddle jamil and vil came to mind first to this song so i chose them <3

r. rosehearts

— more lenient on you, and doesn’t riddle doesn’t even realize it until he overhears ace whisper complaining about it— and whispering terribly, might he add. but that no longer matters, because right now the heat is rising to his face as he realizes that unfortunately enough, ace is absolutely correct. but even despite having this sudden acknowledgment, he just can’t bring himself to be stricter with you as he is with the others. he always ends up making an exception, just for you.

— as you spend more time together, he ends up subtly mimicking the way you express yourself, as well. not exactly so, but every now and then he comes to the realization that he is. let’s say if you tap your feet when you’re excited, you might hear the light clacking of riddle’s heels when everything goes well and accordingly to the queen of heart’s rules, for once. it’s very little, but it means a lot to him. after all, isn’t it a common saying that lovers mirror each other?

j. viper

— of course, jamil always ends up packing an extra box lunch for you, even though he doesn’t particularly mean to. he just happened to be thinking about your well-being, if you’d eaten yet that day, and with his overthinking; well, there sat a lovely little mini meal right there for you. and it wasn’t like he could waste it or anything— so, he ended up giving it to you. under the pretext of predating, he’d probably try to come up with some sort of excuse. sometimes it’s believable, and sometimes it’s quite obvious that he just wanted to give you a little something.

— though whether you’re dating or not, every now and then jamil’s mind will randomly wander to the idea of phsyical intimacy with you, and he always ends up flustered when he catches himself. he daydreams about things like kissing your cheek and vice versa, hand holding, leaning on each other’s shoulders, and he even daydreams about giving you a kiss on the lips if he’s feeling ‘scandalous’. and when you do interact and you act out those little fantasies of his, he can only hide his face with his hood and be flustered even more.

v. schoenheit

— it’s nothing much really— at least for him—, but vil tends to accidentally prepare a matching outfit for you when he’s getting ready for the day, or going to an outing. half of the time you’re not even going to said place with him, it’s just a little thing he does when he’s not being rushed on time. most of the time he doesn’t even realize it until he’s finished changing and he notices a similarly styled outfit on his best, the slight differences being more tailored to fit you. and yes, he has clothes that fit your style in his closet. who would he be if he didn’t have any sort of clothing his lover enjoyed wearing?

— speaking of the outings he goes on, if there are shops and souvenir shops ( let’s face it, why wouldn’t there be if it’s somewhere he’s going? ), then there’s a good chance he’s going to end up buying something he knows you’ll like. though he doesn’t even notice that he grabbed onto it until he gets to actually paying for the items—he looks at the items only to think, ‘what’s that doing there?’ only to remember that his last thought was ‘ah, they’d probably like that.’ and of course, he buys it anyway.

Idk how unpopular this opinion might be, but am I the only one who thinks both Leona and Jamil's plans on their respective books were stupid and pointless??

Like Leona refuses Malleus' retirement from Magical Shift, but then tries to incapacitate him and his team? So why didn't he just let him retire in the first place?? What was the point in refusing then?

And then Jamil tries to get Kalim expelled? Honestly, did he really think that Kalim's parents wouldn't force him to leave as well so he could keep up his work as his servant? What makes him think they'll allow him to stay if Kalim gets sent back? In general I disagree with Jamil's angle for his plan, but this part in particular just doesn't make sense to me

In conclusion, I'm not outright saying this is bad writing (it could be, idk), but my in-universe explanation is that, since overblots happen due to a poor mental health state, this translated for Leona and Jamil, characters who are depicted as smart and with great critical-thinking abilities, into poor decision-making and an incapacity to look at the bigger picture. These two characters who have unhealthy coping mechanisms to avoid their problems and emotions suddenly get too emotional and are unable to think straight

— a warm, delicious looking meal is what jamil prepares for you in ramshackle’s kitchen as light snow coats the dorm’s courtyard outside. humming a light tune as he serves you, you sighed playfully, hitting his shoulder ( with little force ) to tell him that you very well could’ve done it yourself. he digresses though, you deciding to needlessly make it up by promising to do the same for him next time you spend time together like this. though he tries to refuse at first, he smiles, albeit accompanied by a sigh of unsureness when he realizes you’re a bit too stubborn to let it go. he’s thankful, though, that you take the time he spent for you so seriously in that way.

— the things jamil prepares for you on snowy days like this always fill you with a sense of warmth. whether it be because of those meals he prepares, the way he politely covers you with a blanket when you’re sitting together on the couch, or even just the genuine and handsome smile he gives you as he watches you enjoy his food with a sparkle in your eyes. he’s positively in love with you, so prepare for more gifts like this, especially on winter days like these ones. your eyes met with all sorts of appetizing hot lunches he made just to care for you, the one he so proudly calls his love.

— prepare a heavy jacket and snow boots for today, as epel excitedly takes you by the hand and out to ramshackle’s courtyard. carelessly, but equally lovingly so twirling you around as you venture through the snow. roughhousing just a bit, ready to do whatever snowy activities you’re willing to participate in. whether you’re into making a snowman or snow angels, maybe a snowball fight if you’re up for it. or, an activity he specializes in, find a particularly piled up high area of snow, pack it together to form a makeshift mini hill. being more of a gentle hill it’ll be more of a calming pleasant ride, but still fun enough for the both of you.

— then after some considerable amount of time having fun outside, he takes kindly to the way you serve up some hot cocoa for the both of you when you finally come back to ramshackle’s warm interior again. the warmth you bring into his life so naturally, it makes him feel giddy inside, doing things like this with you. so to compliment your hot cocoa, be ready for his delicious apple pie, it won’t disappoint. epel truly hopes to spend more days like these with you, so maybe take him up on his offer once or twice when he chooses to invite you out sometime to participate in activities like this again.
