I'll need babying from the yan, especially when sick or on my period. The headache and cramps ugh 😩 hold me and kiss my forehead please
I think you'ld be the type to get scolded a lot lol. You just go all huffy puffy to the kitchen saying that you can do things yourself just to end up more annoyed after accidentally hurting yourself. Cue the scolding with 'I was right'.

Types of RO Water Purifiers You Need to Know About
Tumblr media
RO water purifiers eliminate dissolved sediments, heavy metals, and pollutants using reverse osmosis technology. Both residential and business settings are suitable for installing RO water purifiers.
A semi-permeable membrane is pushed through water using a reverse osmosis apparatus. Minerals, dissolved sediments, and even microorganisms are all removed from water by the membrane. A carbon filter is also included of certain RO systems.
Before you install a reverse osmosis water purifier, you will need to install a dedicated drain connection. This allows you to use your home's drain water for recycling purposes. You will also need a faucet with an air gap to allow the drain water to pass through.
Typically, RO systems come with three, four, or five stages of filtration. Each stage can be used to remove different contaminants. Some RO systems also include a remineralization stage to help return minerals back into the water.
Reverse osmosis membranes should be replaced every two to four years. The best quality membranes should be replaced at least once every three years.

Reefeon (Water/Rock)
On rare occasion, an Eevee can be affected by more than one environmental factor, and reacts to grow into a new, rare evolution. Reefeon, Water/Rock Eeveelutions, inhabit warm, shallow, tropical waters, predominantly in the pristine southern seas alongside colonies of Corsola. Thriving on a diet enriched with minerals from ocean rocks and sand, Reefeon develop rocky, coral-like growths on their bodies, with the unique coral formations on each individual reflecting their distinct diet and health status. Their coral reefs often become places of refuge for smaller fish Pokémon, who take shelter in the coral and are shielded from larger predators. As long as the individual is in good health, broken coral will be regenerated within days and additional coral can be grown quickly in emergencies, such as during battles. Pieces of broken coral are valuable to collectors and Trainers alike, and can be presented to domesticated Eevee in the hope of inducing evolution into this Water/Rock type. Featuring a lengthy and robust tail, Reefeon wield formidable, long-range attacks against their opponents. They leverage the prehensile appendage to latch onto substantial seaweed and rock formations, anchoring themselves securely during periods of rest.

(sorry this is from a week ago but) Wait, what's going on right now that's complicated with Amazonian farmers' land rights?
Not farmers, indigenous people
See, recently they put a new law through congress that severely reduces indigenous land to the borders established during the late dictatorship, or immediately post-dictatorship, in 1988. An absolute joke of a border that was dreamed up by some military assholes. People in america may recognize this type of society from the times of westward expansion and think this is a thing of the past because for you guys it is. But here it is a reality. Murder is rampant. The reach of the law is incredibly limited. Government is just too weak and landowners basically run things. THAT'S WHY it's so important to donate directly to the native peoples instead of random NGOs because native people are fucking there and the more power they hold in the land the safer the land will be from agroindustrial expansion.
Well the law was vetoed by the the president and the Supremo Tribunal Federal, aka supreme federal court, labeled it as unconstitutional. Which it is, because our 1988 constitution describes native american land rights in some of its first articles. We thought this would be it for the law
But then the senate (that already overrepresents landowners in rural states) just went along and approved it anyway. I had no idea they could approve something unconstitutional. The progressives and particularly the socialists are fighting this in court. But it happens that for now the legal border is the severely reduced version.
Doesn't mean they'll just give up, because as it happens we don't have any stand your ground laws so even if you own a piece of land, you cannot legally speaking just shoot everyone there. Or attack or threaten them in any way. They'll just have long legal battles individually for the rights to occupy land based on use. Also the Xingu national park, the largest preserved land of the Amazon described as 'larger than Belgium', is being encroached by huge farms that are poisoning their water supply. The border is Visible. I'll try to find video of it but essentially you have a forest and a desert separated by a strict line.
Just last week in the south of Bahia (not the Amazon, let me explain more about the Amazon situation in a bit) Hãhãhãe leadership Nega Muniz Pataxó was shot and killed by an armed militia group that invaded and occupied the Caramuru territory.
instagram
The situation in the Amazon, specifically the yanomami territory in Roraima our northernmost state, aka deep forest, is more dire than average given difficulty of access, sheer size, and government abandonment. It's a place that depends on government aid for medicine. It's land that is being systematically invaded by gold miners, pandemic, toxins from nearby farmlands, wood extraction etc. (wood extration is rampant everywhere tho). Early 2023 saw a massive federal government operation by now president Lula to empty the mines and try to look for where funding comes from. Yanomami land is still being invaded to this day, the struggle is ongoing.
The yanomamis need support right now more than any other. Last year saw a massive heat wave that (well, one, caused a girl named Ana Clara Machado to die during the Taylor Swift concert. This is unrelated but I feel like not enough foreign media covered this, Taylor even lied about it as well.) dried up a lot of rivers, killed a LOT of fresh water animals including an unprecedented amount of pink dolphins. Access that was already hard became damn near impossible without boats. I cannot overstate how many pink dolphins were found dead.
Another technique that landowners use to clear space for farms is to just set things on fire and then occupy the empty land, which they legally can do to land that was naturally burned in a forest fire. It happened that Pantanal, another national park of swampland, was massively devastated by fires last year too
this article is from 2020, the year that the worst fire happened, but in 2023 there was another one. It's been happening yearly now due to a) deliberate action and b) climate change aggravation.
And this is not nearly all. Just off the top of my head. If you speak portuguese I recommend following the APIB or the COIAB on instagram to keep up with the news. The FUNAI is the government branch of indigenous organization, but it's not generally that well liked. Still.

I see a looot of people in plant groups asking why their carnivorous plant is dying and it almost always turns out that they thought "distilled water only" was like just a strong recommendation, something they could just play loose with. Other times they just didn't understand what that meant and assumed filtered water would be just as good, or also assumed perhaps understandably that water from any healthy, natural pond should work, but it will not. If you transplant a Venus fly trap or a sundew to just the wrong type of wetland one mile down the road, you've already killed it! Giving them tap water just once can doom them irreversibly! Distilled seriously means distilled which is a "special kind" of water, or rather it's just water that condensed from vapor by a process that excludes most minerals and nutrients! If you don't own a reverse osmosis filter (a very specific and expensive thing for plant growers, not a brita filter!!!) You can use fresh rain water in most environments, as long as it didn't hit the ground first, which could have already changed its composition. Otherwise you should be able to just buy distilled water in any store:
Tumblr media
It's the same quality of water that collects in peat bogs, which is what triggered the evolution of carnivorous plants in the first place; low nutrient, highly acidic water, purer than what you'd find in just a lake or a river.

It's big, it's strong, its scaly, it's this week's Wet Beast Wednesday topic! An arapaima, also known as a pirarucu or paiche, is any of four species of fish in the genus Arapaima in the order of bony-tongued fish. There is som ongoing debate about the classification of the species, so to keep thing simple, I'm going to use the most common species names of Arapaima gigas (the type species and most well known, and the one with the most confusion about its classification), Arapaima agassizii, Arapaima leptosoma, and Arapaima mapae. Because A. gigas is the most well-studied of the species, unless I say otherwise you can assume everything I say in this post applies to it.
Tumblr media
(image: an arapaima)
Arapaimas are bony fish that retain several primitive traits, causing them to sometimes be identified as "living fossils". They are most notable for their size, with A. gigas being a contender for the largest freshwater fish in the world. The maximum recorded size for one was 3.7 meters (10 ft) and 200 kg (400 lbs), but most get to around 2 meters (6.6 ft) long and 200 kg (440 lbs). That average length is decreasing as overfishing of the largest individuals is resulting in a selective pressure for smaller sizes. In addition to their size, they are extremely strong and can move fast if needed. Arapaima are fully capable of leaping out of the water if disturbed or they feel their current pond in unsuitable. Because of their strength, specimens in captivity must be handled with care as they can easy break bones if they slap someone. They live in rivers and lakes in South America, where they are often the top predators.
Tumblr media
(image: several anglers with an arapaima)
Arapaimas are obligate air-breathers and will drown if they can't get to the surface to breathe. This is accomplished with a specialized swim bladder. The swim bladder is filled with highly vascularized tissue, letting it act like a lung. This pseudo-lung opens into the mouth using a modified gill arch known as the labyrinth organ. Arapaima gills are too small to sustain them, but they can supplement their oxygen intake with the gills. Juveniles are born exclusively using their gills and transition into air-breathers shortly after hatching. Arapaimas can survive up to a full day out of the water. They typically surface to gulp in air every 15-20 minutes. Breathing makes a loud gulping sound that anglers use to target them.
Tumblr media
(image: an arapaima at the surface)
Because of their ability to breathe air, arapaimas are top predators in low-oxygen environments. Non-air breathing fish are forced to slow down in water with low levels of dissolved oxygen as they can't get enough oxygen through their gills. Since Arapaimas breathe air, they can easily chase down lethargic smaller fish. They are especially potent predators during the low season, when water levels lower. A combination of rotting vegetation reducing oxygen levels and ponds getting cut off from rivers and losing a supply of oxygen lets the arapaima reign supreme. Arapaimas are primarily predators that feed on smaller fish, though they will hunt other types of animals and eat fruits and seeds. Even land animals aren't safe as arapaimas have been known to launch themselves out of the water to catch animals near the shore. A combination of sharp teeth and their bony tongues are used to debilitate prey.
Tumblr media
(image: an arapaima with its mouth open)
Not content with powerleveling their attack stat, arapaimas also have excellent defense. Their scales have been compared to bullet proof vests. Each has a hard, mineralized outer layer over multiple layers of collagen fibers. These layers are all oriented at an angle to each other to provide extra strength. This orientation of layers is called a Bouligand-type arrangement and is similar to how plywood is assembled. The harder outer layers and flexible inner layers work together to allow for both strength and flexibility. These scales help provide protection form large predators such as caiman and small threats like biting piranha. They also like provide protection from other arapaima, as the fish are aggressive and will fight each other.
Tumblr media
(image: a diagram showing the composition of arapaima scales. source)
You probably wouldn't expect a swimming tank of an animal to be a good parent, but you'd be wrong. Arapaimas work together in mated pairs to build nests for their eggs, then cooperate to guard the nest. Once the eggs hatch, the male will practice mouth brooding, keeping his young safe in his mouth. The female will also help by patrolling the area around the male to ward off predators. They secrete pheromones from their heads to ensure the young don't swim too far away. Eggs are laid either in in the low season or as water levels are starting to rise, ensuring that the young become independent during the high season.
Tumblr media
(Image: baby arapaimas)
Arapaima are classified as "data deficient" by the IUCN. This means there isn't enough data to properly assess their conservation needs. They are known to be threatened by overfishing. Arapaima make up a large part of the diet of many South American populations. Habitat loss and pollution are also believed to threaten them. They have been introduced to many areas out of their native range and are an invasive species in placed like Florida, Malaysia, and India.

Pyritized OMANYTE//OMASTAR & Pyritized KABUTO//KABUTOPS
A Pyritized fossil is one where during the formation of said fossil it becomes iron pyrite, a mineral know as "fool's gold" due to its golden shine. This process is common in fossils from the Paleozoic era like Ammonites and Trilobites
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This versions of OMANYTE and KABUTO are revived from such pyritized fossils, this not only changes their color, giving them both a golden shell, but also changes their type, now being Water/Steel type

dad ghost and ucle soap doing something for me so what if their adopted (read :kidnapped) kid secretly a mermaid?
— Yandere Dad! Ghost and Uncle! Soap with a mermaid kiddo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: yandere behavior, fantasy AU, and all Platonic!
A/N: This was fun to write! Enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s hard to keep this secret, no? Being a whole different species and forced to hide your ‘real-self’ is a pain, and once these two find out, they’re flabbergasted; looking at each other with wide eyes. And once, in their lives, they have no idea what to do. A good ‘welp…’ coming out of Johnny as Dad! Ghost stands there, unsure what to do or how to properly respond to the situation.
Despite their surprised state, they quickly adapt — equally getting fascinated, and wondering how the hell you’ve hidden this for so long, without anybody knowing.
Within a span of a couple of days, they educate themselves on you and your sea life. Buying books, reading internet articles, and sharing their own questions with you. They even go in depth about what your diet is, how your body works, if there’s any more mermaids like you, or if you eat fish. Of course, Uncle! Soap asks if you’re a siren, there are a lot of common traits in both of them, and honestly asks if you can sing.
Despite your obvious need for water for survival, they both understand the phrase, “clean water”, and they both work on getting an enormous pool built just for you. Even if the cabin of a house is built deep in the mountains, you have a large pathway to a lake that they own; a sum of water that’s clean, and deep enough to discover minerals and kelp.
They enjoy watching you swim, smiling at your happy state, and whilst Dad! Ghost won’t join you in the water, rather watching from afar as he reads on files or such. But as for, Uncle! Soap, he will literally cannonball himself into the water.
Opposed to your lovely uncle, he’s quite touchy and loves to touch your tail. Of course, he won’t touch it if he sees you annoyed, or if you say no. But, when he gets the chance, he likes to admire the different shapes, scales, colors, and weight of your fins.
As for Dad! Ghost, he’s oddly attentive to you. Whilst you know your body better than anybody else, he still tries to care for you. He goes out of his way to buy you special cream to keep your tail moisturized, ensure you’re hydrated enough, and keeping your gills healthy; looking for any tears or wounds of any kind.
Uncle! Soap can be a menace with his teasing, and when you’re being snarky or breaking a few rules, he’ll joke that he’ll make sushi outta your tail. Of course, Ghost hits him in the back of the head. But he wouldn’t do that… would he?
They both work together — very hardly — to ensure the government doesn’t find out about you. They know what it’s capable of, people kidnapping you and poking you with needles to find out more information; keeping you captive like a pet. And they’ve both promised, as your guardians, that nothing like that will ever happen whilst they’re breathing.
And because of that, they will execute any type of threats possible. If they see your friends getting suspicious, one day they randomly ‘disappear’. Any type of adults asking specific questions, or why you like the water so much, are found dead on the news.
They both understand how much water means to you, which at times, Uncle! Soap sometimes suggests moving, and building a house near the salty sea; a place where you’re visibly comfortable and feel like you belong. He might even recommend taking a few trips back to Scotland a few times a year, letting you swim in the large lakes.

TYPES OF WETLANDS:
Did you know there are different kinds of wetlands? In addition to the tidal salt marshes you might think of, there are also swamps, bogs, fens, and freshwater marshes! Types of wetlands: Marshes Marshes are defined as wetlands frequently or continually inundated with water, characterized by emergent soft-stemmed vegetation adapted to saturated soil conditions. There are tidal salt marshes or freshwater marshes. Swamps A swamp is any wetland dominated by woody plants. Bogs Bogs are characterized by spongy peat deposits, acidic waters and a floor covered by a thick carpet of sphagnum moss. Fens Fens are peat-forming wetlands that receive nutrients from sources other than precipitation: usually from upslope sources through drainage from surrounding mineral soils and from groundwater movement. Fens differ from bogs because they are less acidic and have higher nutrient levels.

Drabble idea for the ask thing: Steve works at a tattoo shop and Eddie works at a flower shop, they both get odd looks when they tell people about their job. Bonus: Eddie gets a tattoo of a flower from Steve and that's how they meet.
This is like if you took call me sunshine, send me to space and made it cuter with a flower shop and made Steve the tattoo artist instead. I'm just gonna write the bonus scene because that's a lot to keep 500 words or less and we all know how I go on 😂 Don't @ me over the super sappy ending, someone with spoons please write another 50k of this.
🌷🌼🌻🌷🌼🌻🌷🌼🌻
"You want a wildflower bouquet in the space of your full sleeve?" Steve stared at the fully tattooed man over his glasses, brows raised in disbelief. "I'm not one to judge tattoo choices but you seem to know what you're doing and I'm a bit confused as to how that fits with...anything else on your arm."
Steve had definitely done some wild tattoos. He was actively part of so many bad decisions made by people who would live to regret getting their girlfriend's name on their neck or the face of their best friend on their thigh.
But this one was different in that this guy had clearly meticulously planned out every tattoo on his body, and that was a lot of tattoos, and now he wanted to add...wildflowers. In between skulls and guitars and some metal band logo. Right.
"Yeah and if it's a problem, I can go somewhere else, man. I just heard a lot of good things about you and my flower shop is two doors down, so-"
"Wait. You're Eddie? You're the guy who owns the flower shop." Steve perked up, face relaxing more into a smile.
"The one and only. You been by?" Eddie didn't remember actually seeing Steve before.
He'd been shocked to walk in and see a barely tattooed Steve sitting behind the counter. Assuming he was the secretary, he'd said he was here for an appointment with the guy in charge, and Steve smiled and explained who he was.
"I haven't. But someone brought me a bouquet you made when I first opened and it was beautiful. Managed to keep it alive and thriving for almost two weeks, which is a record for me, and then someone said it was because of the way you take care of them before they're sold and the minerals you use in the water and I'm turning into Robin. Jesus."
Eddie was endeared.
Steve was looking down at his tablet in front of him, a barely visible sketch on it.
"Is that what you've come up with?" Eddie asked as he leaned over the counter to get a closer look.
They could talk about his love of the bouquet Eddie made later.
"Yeah, but. Now that I'm looking at you...I'm not sure it's right," Steve sighed, closing the app and looking back up at Eddie. "I can redesign at no charge and set up another consultation."
"Can I see?"
"Sure."
Steve pulled his tablet out and opened the picture back up.
It was beautiful, actually resembled a bouquet Eddie had done not long ago for his friend Jonathan.
"It's perfect. Can it be done in one long sitting or do we need to break it up?" Eddie smiled at Steve, pulling up the calendar on his phone to make an appointment.
"Uh. Well." Steve cleared his throat. "I guess you could probably handle the pain so all in one is fine with me? It's probably gonna be six hours with breaks every hour. Are you sure this is what you want?"
Eddie looked at the tablet again, tilting his head as he thought back to when he'd made this bouquet.
"Do you know Jonathan Byers?" Eddie asked, not looking away from the picture.
His eyes focused on the coneflower that he'd only been able to use in one bouquet before his part time employee found out they were allergic.
"Yeah...why?"
"He got you that bouquet, right?"
Steve nodded.
Eddie didn't really believe in fate or destiny or whatever type of miracle people tended to wish for. He also didn't believe in soulmates or the perfect partner.
But wildflowers grow anywhere, and sometimes love can too.

How To Choose The Best RO Water Purifier For Your Home
Tumblr media
Several types of RO water purifiers are available. These include Aqua RO, Royalstar, Whirlpool, Panasonic, Best Water Technology, Culligan International, and Unilever Pure It.
Reverse Osmosis is an effective method of treating total dissolved solids (TDS) and dissolved metals. It also successfully treats many taste-producing chemicals.
The purification process of RO water purifier is done by using semi-permeable membrane. The membrane only allows water molecules to pass through under pressure. The membrane filters out most of the impurities in water. However, dissolved salts and other chemical components are left behind. The membrane should have a sediment pre-filter to remove the sediments.
A RO water purifier has a storage tank which stores filtered water under pressure. This water is then used when the faucet is turned on. If the faucet is closed, rejected water is discharged to the drain line. Depending on the type of purifier, some additional filters may be installed.
Some RO water purifiers have extra filters to remove chlorine, bad odours, and other chemicals. These filters can be replaced every six months.
Other RO water purifiers use a combination of Ultra Filtration and UV technology. This combination is most suitable for municipal water. The UV filter removes the impurities that are passing through the RO membrane. The activated carbon pre-filter provides an additional treatment for VOCs. The remineralization filter adds safe minerals to the water. This increases the pH and makes the water fresher.
The Kent Pearl is a RO+UV+UF purifier. It has a water level indicator and a smart alarm system. It is suitable for municipal and groundwater.
