Plant of the Day
Tuesday 27 June 2023
The horticultural enterprise Transition Turriefield has been experimenting with growing edibles in Shetland’s wild and windy climate since 2008. They have lots of experience about creating growing conditions that allow the sustainable, organic production of vegetables and fruit in challenging conditions. In the tunnels the Cucurbita pepo (courgette) cultivars were cropping well. Thanks to Penny and Alan for a fascinating visit.

Fresh food for all!
Nobody should ever be starting their day on an empty stomach.
Nobody should ever be going to bed hungry.
 Nobody.
If this might be you – or you know someone in your community who isn’t getting access to fresh food – please come and register for a free box of fresh and tasty fruit and veg goodies right here on our website. We can deliver a box straight to your door – fresh, tasty, free.
At Share Fresh, we wanted to take our online fruit and veg subscription box business and use it to do something good in the community. So, every time a customer comes to our site to buy a box of tasty fruit and veg, we take 20% of the purchase price and put it towards boxing up free fruit and veg deliveries to those in our community who are not in the position to pay for them. Some of us have been there ourselves, and none of us know if we might ever be in that position in the future. We all have a duty to help people when and where we can. This is our way.
Though we know that fruit and veg should be an absolute essential in everyone’s daily diet to help them eat well and feel great, we know that it’s not always cheap, not always easy to access, and not exactly a priority on the top of people’s lists as we try to manage our tightening budgets. This is why we want to play our part.

Reposted from @jay_halford In these times we are really grateful to have someone as humble as Jamie Dornan order from local businesses such as ourselves helping to support the local economy! ⠀ ⠀ Jamie Dornan, AKA Christian Grey, one of our many happy customers who subscribe to us for a fruit and veg box, and he has Fifty Shades of Green delivered fresh to his doorstep every Monday. ⠀ ⠀ So by my calculations, I think that if you order from us, you’re basically a film star too… 🎥📸⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #plantbased #selfcare #naturalfood #filmstar #realfood #conciousfood #goodfood #chefsofig #plantbased #plant #lockdown #supportlocal #freshfood #vegbox #covid19 #selfisolation #supportsmallbusiness #fiftyshadesofgrey #fiftyshadesofgreen #delivery #jamiedornan #mealprep #supportnhs #stayhome #cotswolds #supportlocal #localbusiness #buylocal #supportsmallbusiness #behindthescenes https://www.instagram.com/p/B_QLp6cB6-o/?igshid=1cfbeszfx537d

I have created a new logo, following a brief for organic market garden and veg box scheme. Using some of the plant they harvest and sell in there veg boxes.  I have tried my best to simplify the veg design with out taking away too much detail so they are still recognizable, whilst at the same time not looking too similar to the previous logo.

So here comes the detailed review of Barbeque in a Box(Veg) @barbequenation now talking about the starters we had *BBQ pineapple *BBQ paneer *Cutlets *BBQ mushroom *Crispy corn *Along with this we had two different dips that was Mayonnaise and Green Chutney. Starters was ok if you go there and have it obviously your experience would be different but these things were jst fine. . Now if we talk about the main course we had *Shahi paneer *Mix veg *Dal makhani *Veg biryani *Mix fruit raita Among all these things I found Biryani taste good and others were just usual taste I would say below fine. . Coming to the Desert usually they give three types of desert but in my box there was only two dessert *Mini Gulaab Jamuns *Moong Dal ka Halwa Dessert was good. . Price-₹₹649 . *According to the Price quantity was more than enough you can easily serve two or three people per box depending on your appetite but the taste was not quite satisfactory at all. *Packaging of whole box and every item was excellent. . . Quantity-4.8/5😌 Taste-3.1/5😐 Worth for money-3.9/5😌 Packing-5/5😁 . . If you want you can try for once at this price u are getting nice quantity of food but quality is compromising. . . . . . #barbequenation😋#barbequenation#barbequetime#barbequeboxreview#foodbloggerindia🇮🇳#veganfood#veganbreakfast#veganismo#vegbox#barbequenation❤#allahabadi#allahabad#allahabadblogger#cravinghunts#crave#foodphotographer#foodismypassion#foodislove❤️#cravings#craziness#picoftheweek#picofthedays (at Barbeque Nation) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE1qQVVFBCa/?igshid=1hxbhd6pumtxc

Vegetable Pakoras
Ingredients:
100g gram flour, sieved
1 medium onion
3 medium potatoes
1 tsp of salt
2 tsp of garam masala
1 tsp of turmeric
2 chillies, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger, grated
Handful of chopped spinach
1 tsp of cumin seeds
½ tsp of red chilli powder
Water
Oil for deep frying
Method:
Heat up the oil in a wok to a medium heat.
Slice the onion very thinly
Peel and grate (or very finely chop) the potatoes into the same bowl.
Sprinkle all the dry spices and freshly chopped spinach, chillies and ginger into the bowl and then sieve in the gram flour - mix together using your hands.
Add a small amount of water a little at a time to create a thick batter that coats all the vegetables.
Test your oil is hot enough by dropping a little batter into the oil. If it browns and rises immediately then it is ready. Very carefully drop in spoonfuls of the mixture into the oil and fry until golden brown.
Using a slotted spoon move the pakora around, be careful not to overcrowd the wok.
Once golden brown and crisp remove from the oil and set on some kitchen paper.
Serve with a sweet chilli dipping sauce or low fat yogurt with a handful of chopped coriander
