Reasons the Fantastic Four age better than some heroes (based on my old memories of their original first 70 or so issues):

• Lack of social commentary: By which I mean lack of commentary on race relations. I've found (based on their summaries) that most sixties and seventies stories trying to tackle race relations don't deal with it perfectly. There's a good chance the story will boil down to violence being bad no matter what, which is an admirable moral that also neglects the hideous history of america. The fantastic four didn't deal with racial stuff often, so they dodged a bullet here (sounds like Captain America and Iron Man and stuff dealt with it more, which is bad for them).

• Not much Anti-Comminism: Beyond the Red Ghost, I don't think the FF had any communist foes. Which is something stunning, since most of these 60s Superheroes always seemed to be fighting the Reds.

There's more than just these two things, but I think here's a good place to end it for now. I think I've made my point about the american political scene helping to negatively impact some of these old stories.

Astral redesign no-one asked for, along with a slight AU/alt.story.

Unlike the original, we get a full backstory for Astral. He was taken by Eliphas as a young child away from his mother due to his unnatural talent and his strange ability to draw and create cards, something Eliphas recognized as the miracle of Zexal. His name had been Elpis or Apis (no one knows which) but Eliphas, who never remember which, just referred to him as Astral, to de...astralize (?)him. He's 14 physcially, but has been so for many many years, without remembering why (it was due to the Don K duel), and is known as Astral World's Star Child.

Personality-wise, he's pretty much the same. Sarcastic but also very soft, and shows more of a tendancy to worry about Yuma than in the show. He also has a very mothering attitude towards Yuma, to the point that Kaito or Shark have to literally go 'Dude, shut up! You're not his mom!' He also seems to be anxious alot, but when things come down to it, he is very mature and incredibly strong, such as during the Astral World Arc.

The Astral World Arc is something that i've changed in this au. Instead of it been several episodes on a duel, it's longer, with more events happening (no i dont know what the barians and the others were doing in this time i my brain juice ran out by that time). I haven't worked out all the details. The main outline is that Yuma ends up there, is rescued by Ena, and then is aided by a bunch of misfit teens, who are all Astral's friends from the past, along with a bunch of children who really really wanna help their 'Onii-sama' (turns out, Astral decided to take responsibilty for the orphans in the area and became their big brother, helping Ena to look after them all) but are unfortunantly a bit young. The group is led by Aphrodite, an intense, firey girl who is known for her ability to get in and out of places (she's even been to Barian world and back-and no one knew) and they go to bust Astral out of the crystal, and from there they take the injured Astral, who, instead of hiding, decides enough is enough, and decides to fight Eliphas, once they're ready, and everyone's safe. This gives Astral the chance to be the leader instead of backseating Yuma (who is, by the way, in full AWE of how grown up Astral is)

There are other stuff I've changed but my brain isn't working right now (did i create this all just because i wanted more astral world? maybe)

Also, his father is never mentioned by name, but there's a heavy implication that he is related to Don Thousand, who was the one who created Zexal (more on that later) as well as Aphrodite, whose full name is Aphrodite of the line Alkanah (shoutout to @thesilverlock for mentioning that name to me, i hope you don't mind me using it here :) )

As for design, like i wrote on the art, it's inspired by the zexal forms, as I wanted a link to zexal for Astral other than the hair colour and eye, plus i just thought it would be cool lol. his first design is based on zexal i and ii, and the third is zexal iii, because those are the zexal forms that occured at the time he was wearing them (speaking for zexal ii, the aftermath for sargasso is slightly different too, but i'm gonna talk about that later)

I decided to use Zexal ii for his down/natural hair as i know many people are like 'where there hell did that come from' and so i decided his natural hair would be basically that style to explain it, but as his og hairstyle is what he's known as, i didnt wanna change it, so it's just what his hair looks like when it's down (which is a lot of the time. duels dont like his hair. his bangs do it alot)
