there's something so... off. about the battles in journeys that i can't quite put my finger on. it's not all of them obviously but something just doesn't feel right about them?

#the first battle centric episode in jn (episode 7 with the flute tournament) starts off just. so strange #ive gone off abt how acting like ash caught mimey and its part of his roster is stupid and a bad idea and ofc this episode rubs that in #bc ha ha we gotta cash in on those le epic detective pikachu references that totally dont feel dated today #plus its just such a cop out for ash's fairy type #but its like. just such a weird choice overall... even if mimey is ash's pokemon its not a battler #and what always stuck out to me was like.... why choose mimey and not yknow. his 20+ roster at oak's lab?#this is THE throwback series so dont cry that kids might not know who corphish is or whatever #well. i guess getting a few viral tweets on twitter abt how the pokemon anime EPICALLY referenced the detective pikachu memes #was worth more than actually showcasing ash's pokemon or making sense. its such a weird note to start on for the first battle episode??#but aside from that. idk something feels missing. i used to say it might be the animations #and ''theyre trying to stick too close to the games animations like for swords dance when they could get creative''#but thats not an issue unique to this series at all. kalos was also pretty faithful to the games and thats got some of the best battles #echoed voice #jn lb

I've been watching this develop for the past several days, and apart from being terrified most people will not take this seriously (I've seen a handful of people already shout conspiracy on social media and it's alarming to see, as always). What I wanted to point out is that pandemics are going to continue to be our 'normal.' I watched a great video on YouTube a while ago (I believe it was by Vice?) that touched base on how this is going to become our new reality because of multiple factors (such as our proximity to animals, and environments/etc). It was when Covid hit and they did a piece debunking some of the misinformation floating on the internet. If I can find it I will post it here because it was informative and relevant to pretty much any world crisis we will see around any virus that spreads among a human population.

This post isn't trying to fear monger anyone, I just hope more people are aware of what is happening because this is important to talk about. There are already cases (of cows getting this bird flu) in the US, and I won't be surprised if there will be instances in more countries around the world. As usual, keep washing your hands/keeping good hygiene practices, masking up (and if you aren't I hope you consider it), and taking precautions if you do happen to visit/work or go near a pig or poultry farm too:

I'll keep track of this here of course, but please stay informed folks. And also FU to any governments who will try to minimize this or try to diminish the severity until it's too late and community spread happens like Covid because their actions are influenced by capitalistic interests.

I think we need to talk about gynecological exams more like dental work than just getting a vaccine, you know what I mean? Like, validate people’s fears and concerns so people will be more open to care. Getting an IUD isn’t just ‘a little pinch’, getting a pap smear does feel violating and deeply uncomfortable. It’s okay to be afraid, it’s okay to need someone in the room with you or to need to pre-game with anxiety meds. You’re not weak if you feel that receiving gynecological care is more emotionally and physically taxing on you than other people.

You need to get that root canal to prevent an abscess in your jaw that could turn to full body sepsis. You need to get that pap smear to detect cervical cancers and viral infections that could lead to serious illness or death.
