So yeah, this is just my super sketchy, low effort style, but I had to get this out of my head. I just love the idea that Vlad and Harriet start dating and she has NO IDEA that Vlad and Danny are half ghosts. She's also completely bewildered by their interactions because even on his best behavior Vlad still clearly has some kind of rivalry with this 14 yo. But Harriet thinks Danny is adorable and Danny thinks it's HILARIOUS that Vlad's girlfriend thinks he's adorable, so he keeps inviting himself over. And Danny thinks Harriet is cool but he's baffled and a little nauseated by the fact that she likes Vlad so sometimes crashing date night backfires on him.

HIIII JULIUS CESAR FROM CLONE HIGH!!! ( For me you are him, don't try to convince me otherwise ) /j /pos
Here are two questions to make you think ( I know, thinking sucks/hj ):
Can you list your most favorite/likeable Clone High ships? (if you can, from the most favorite to the least favorite)
Andddd!
You can list your most hated/hateable Clone High ships? (from most hated to least hated )
And if you could give a brief explanation or/and a rating from 1 to 10
Questions asked for...plot reasons/j
I hope I'm not bothering you!
Have a great week 😇
Hello!! THANK YOUU for asking! and yes, i am Julius Caesar (real) and I am thinking thinking so hard rn!!! This is pretty lengthy post!
I don't really have any ships I dislike, so

Additionally, and unrelated to my ranking, heres some ratings and reviews haha
Julius + Jesús 9/10
I LOVE THESE TWO like they make me laugh sm I like to think they're childhood bestfriends, and y'know. Sometimes you just gotta kiss the homies 😎
Julius + Vincent 8/10
These two are nice too, it's mainly a comfort ship cause of me self projecting lol 😭
Jesús + Vincent 8/10
Almost the same exact opinion I have with the last one!
Frida + Cleo 9/10
OH MY GOD THAT ONE S3 EP LEFT ME HEART BROKEN, but! I am very very much glad they're on atleast good terms
Joan + Harriet 8/10
They're cute honestly, I liked the cheerleading episode a lot. and despite conflicts they have they seem to find a way to relate to eachother
Joan + Abe 8/10
OKAYY OKAY I KNOWW... this ship gets a lot of hate, and for an understandable reason , honestly. I don't blame anyone for not liking it but I personally don't mind it that much, they have their cute moments over all I do agree the writing could be better
Joan + Confucius 7/10
I was honestly hesitant with them at first when I saw the s3 trailer, but they grew on me!! They were cute. I personally think the dynamic worked pretty well too
Abe + JFK 7/10
They're alright, scenes with them are funny and I love that they ended up as buddies
Confucius + Harriet 6/10
Though there are some issues with their relationship, I found them pretty cute in s2 but I lost interest quick
Abe + Frida 10/10
CUTEST!! THEY'RE LIKE SIBLINGS TO ME!!!
Joan + JFK 6/10
I get how people can say there's not really much chemisty with them, they can be cute but I feel like I like them better off as pals now after what happened in s2
Catherine + Julius 7/10
They're like more seen together in s1?? Regardless if they were ever a couple or not, I like to think they separated on good terms/are friends!
Joan + Cleo 6/10
They're alright, I like the ship art, and I liked them getting along from time to time
Confucius + JFK 7/10
I'm kinda sad they didn't get much screentime together in s3 unlike in s2, but they're nice they were funny
anyways this all doesn't matter, the best clone high ship has been and will always be julius x a new haircut/j
for other ships, that I didn't explain or mention, they're also cool as long as its not weird LMFAO ship whoever you want and ty again!! 😁👍

GIVE ALL YOUR THOUGHTS ON SEASON 3 HAND EM OVER
THIS IS NOT ALL MY THOUGHTS CUZ ALL MY THOUGHTS ARE HOURS WORTH OF THOUGHTS. PROBABLY. here's some scattered initial thoughts . out of order
- vlad vlad vlad i adore vlad i wish he talked more. he doesn't even name drop the first time we meet the bleacher creatures! I think. I don't even remember when he name drops
- I don't think I'm overestimating it when I say I am the confucius guy. and the confucius guy has been fed very well this season. im SO grateful. I'm obsessed with him. He's cute. He's sometimes a little unexpected. He has about 5/6 minutes worth of angst. He's relatable. He is everything to me
- The Mary twist was hilarious, at first I had mixed feelings about the character being shoved in, but it built up to awesomeness
- It's been rough for Harriet... It's been real rough for her character. Which SUCKS cuz I wanna like her! I don't dislike her but Girl Why
- The writing has def improved since the last season! Hooray! Gives me 1% hope
- The JFK&Abe&Confucius trio is adorable and one of my fav things about this season. "We tried! Yeah yeah We tried!" "C'mon... C'mon...? C'mon... C'mon!"
- Joanfucius cute !! 7.5/10. Better than their s2 relationships (Joanfk/tubfucius)
- Jfabers are winning. And losing also
- Shower scene didn't happen
- I loved JFK's personality arc, his devils & angels, and him being more bisexual than ever. The explanation for the writers to "fix his personality" was genius
- I felt the increased amount of swearing made it so jokes or emotional moments involving swearing didn't hit as hard as they could have. And some sex scenes were dragged on for too long which wasn't useful narrative/comedy wise .. just uncomfortable
- I accept buff confucius into my life
- The new characters from ep 9... erm. I didn't like them much. I don't like the "here's character's love interest that is basically this character but opposite gender!" trope. The part with Mrs. C's cockney accent made me like her more though
- JFK'S DAD CAMEO !! HOORAY !! i wonder where the other dad is though ...
- I appreciated the references to previous seasons !!
- The ending left me in shambles & some actual grief. I loved the last episode, the way it parallels the first season finale, and the emotional drama, but I feel like they can't afford a cliffhanger. I would have liked some closure, as I have barely any faith in the animation+streaming industry and am 99% sure we're heading for cancellation. Boo-womp
- On the topic of ending, I headcanon that if the series does get cancelled, the clones actually get hit by the missile and DIE. I AM MAKING IT WORSE FOR MYSELF
- I LOVE EATING MAGNETS
- I really liked the Christian rock song and the inclusion of Unrehearsed by Abandoned Pools! I wish there were more new songs X( but it ok
- Scud and Mr. B were awesome as usual
- Abe cute
- I'm glad we got more Kahlopatra (Or... "cleda" as the show calls it. I GUESS. I GUESS)
- Frida's dad... emm.. ermm.. ermmm.. 😳😳😳 he so
- The professor from Ep 1 is freaking awesome & has the same voice as mr. peanut butter i think which makes him awesomer
- Hmmm... Magnets
- I was very pleased to see more Front facing scared confucius
- I was also pleased to see him about to jump off a building. you know how it is with the fav characters ^_^
- Not a whole lot of JFKonfucius moments but some screenshot worthy stuff . I went insane when JFK grabbed Confucius by the collar though 😭 why does he do that. why are they like that. i love my boys
- the last shot grabs my heart with a fist and squeezes it It hurts It Hurts it Hurts
ok well if i keep on listing stuff i'll just be talking about everything confucius did so thats enough for now LOL !!! THANKS FOR ASKING . HEART 💚🧬

Phic Phight - Two Of A Kind Who Love In Kind
For: @ectoamerican-blog @ectopal
It’s hard to get a halfas heart, so maybe the type that would would also raise the type that would
Harriet hums to herself, busying herself with setting up the dining room table. Occasionally eyeing her son nervously fiddling with the table cloth, or his band t-shirt, or smoothing his eyebrows out. Shaking her head fondly, “relax, Kwan. Somehow I doubt either of our guests will care about your eyebrows”.
Kwan smooths them over again anyway, “you have no idea how much he notices. Eagle eyes I swear”.
“Sounds like you like said eyes”.
That gets her son blushing furiously, which she can’t help but smile at. And sure, she was also nitpicking the table settings, but when you’re dating one of the wealthiest men alive it takes a lot to impress. Not that he seemed to really care; he could be hard to read like that.
Thankfully she’s satisfied by the time the doorbell goes off, her patting off her pants before heading to it; he sweet son poking his head around the wall and watching all awkwardly.
The man on the other side is looking over the siding of her home when she opens it, looking to her then and smiling, “why hello, my dear”, and kisses her hand like the gentleman he was. Even if it felt a little possessive sometimes; not that she particularly minded that. Possessive was far better than inattentive.
Her son chokes a little, “mom, your boyfriend's the mayor???”. She looks over her shoulder and smiles at him a little, “yes, now get over here and say hello”. Vlad looking down at the approaching teen like he was assessing the child’s worth of life; making her roll her eyes fondly. Gesturing him in and moving to begin setting the hot food plates out. Vlad absently patting Kwan on the head before taking off his shoes with elegant ease.
Kwan shakes himself out, vaguely worrying about his own boyfriends reaction to apparently having to have diner with the fucking mayor. Regardless though, “it’s, uh, nice to meet you”.
“Hmmm, yes, boy. I imagine it is”.
Making Kwan blink, wow, talk about an ego. Harriet shaking her head, waving the man off, “oh you kidder”. Vlad chuckles and Kwan has a feeling the man wasn’t actually kidding; leaving him feeling just slightly protective of his mom.
Kwan following the man around, judging him, which the mayor studiously ignores. But this results in him not actually noticing his own boyfriend's arrival… and subsequent sneaking inside the house to stand directly behind him.
“Heeeeey, Kwan-bomb”.
“AAAAHHHH!”, Kwan jumps nearly a foot off the floor and the teen behind him cackles.
Harriet and Vlad exchange quirked eyebrows, before rounding the corner into a scrawny-looking black-haired teen with his arms darn near strangling Kwan around the neck and dangling over the larger teen's back; blinding grin on while Kwan struggles to grab the other from over his shoulder.
“Danny!”, Kwan continues trying to get the smaller teen off his back, he is firmly getting nowhere.
Vlad stares for a while, hands behind his back causally, before sighing and walking over, plucking Danny by the shirt collar off of Kwan, “Daniel, really? Must you behave like this? Also, why are you here?”.
Danny blinks in surprise, grinning more but in a very shit-eating way, “oh hey Vladdie! Fancy seeing you here!”, putting his hands to his face in very mocked shock, “oh my god!”, waving a hand in a very fruity way, “are you dating some that isn’t my mom! How scandalous!”, and swats Vlad on the chest. Vlad drops him unceremoniously on the ground; Danny landing in a manner clearly showing that he expected said drop.
Kwan sputters before stepping closer, “wait what? Dee, do you actually know the mayor already?”, and stares at the smaller teen in confusion. While Harriet raises an eyebrow at Vlad, “his mom?”. Vlad actually has the sense to look apologetically bashful, “she was an interest of mine in college and beyond that if I’m honest”.
Danny rounds on Vlad, “honesty? From you? I guess it’s my birthday!”. Vlad glares at him while Danny turns his smile on Kwan, “Kwan, Vlad here is my uncle”.
The room goes silent.
Vlad sighs after a beat, clearing up a particular confusion, “we are not actually related, Daniel”.
“Are you saying I’m not your godson and nephew?”.
Vlad immediately stating that: “oh no I certainly am”, and smirks at the small teen. Danny chuckling meanly, “that’s what I thought”.
Harriet glances between the two, absently noticing that Danny’s eyes are incredibly blue, before shaking her head, “I don’t know if this makes things easier or not”. Kwan shrugs very awkwardly, he’d had no idea his boyfriend not only knew the town mayor but was also his family.
Danny rounds on her, waving her off limply, “well there will be no awkward first meeting! Beyond…”, and holds out his hand, grinning stupidly, “hello Mrs My Boyfriends Mother, I’m Danny Fenton!”. She laughs and shakes his hand, eyeing her son with a ‘you found an interesting one’ look. Kwan facepalms.
Vlad shakes his head subtly, smiling slightly, addressing Harriet, “now I would say that so long as this one isn’t trying to do undue harm to Daniel, but I doubt a son of yours would be a concern in that manner”. Danny makes gagging motions, that aren’t subtle, before Vlad turns on him, “for once I’m likely to applaud your tastes”.
“That’s not the compliment you think it is, frootloop”.
“Little badger”, Vlad’s tone has a level of warning to it.
Kwan quirks an eyebrow at Danny, “wait, does he mean Valerie? Or Paulina?”. Kwan’s still not sure about Danny’s thing with Paulina, both of them claim she was overshadowed but… Yeah it was weird.
Vlad huffs, “oh I definitely mean Valerie, she’s quite the gifted child but she most certainly holds grudges”. Danny snorts at that. Kwan just looks confused so Danny clears that up, “my dog’s kinda the entire reason her dad got fired and she lost everything”.
Kwan cringing, “okay yeah, I don’t need any more than that to know she must have beat you good. Geez”. Danny just chuckles, “eh you know I like things rough”. Making both Kwan and Harriet choke; Vlad just sighs, used to Danny’s shit. Regardless Harriet gestures to the table, getting everyone to sit down now that introductions have technically been made.
Harriet and Vlad on one side and Kwan with Danny on the other. Danny, spotting the mash potatoes, “Hell yeah garlic mash potatoes!”, and nabs it up. Harriet smiles at that while everyone takes their food in a far more reserved and polite manner.
Harriet eyeing Vlad, “so I’m guessing rude teenagers don’t exactly annoy you”, eyeing her son a little, “no offence, Kwan”. Kwan chuckling awkwardly, “yeah I’m not the best at social queues”.
Vlad chuckles faintly, “Daniel is the rudest person I know, so no, I am unbothered”. Danny winks at the man mockingly and absolutely stuffs a spoonful of peas in his mouth.
-
Danny clears his throat, swallowing food, eyeing Harriet, “so, what made you decide to go romance the guy who basically got you fired?”.
“It seems you still have zero tack, boy”.
Kwan blinks before going wide-eyed, rounding on Vlad, “oh so that was you who held that reunion?”. Vlad simply nods, “yes, though I had ulterior motives beyond a simple reunion”. Danny snorting through a mouthful, “ulterior motives my ass, old man”. Making Harriet quirk a judgmental eyebrow at the teen and making Kwan shake his head with a laugh, giving his mom a sheepish look, “he might have a bit of a foul mouth”.
Her, “uh huh”, is very judgmental, then looking to Danny and answering his question, “he might have been the one holding the event but it wasn’t really his fault-”. Danny’s snort interrupts her, him eyeing Vlad, “is that so”, he sounds flat out mean.
Kwan groans a little, “oh my Zone Danny, you are such a gremlin”.
“Your gremlin”.
Kwans blush could be seen a mile away.
Vlad sighs, “while I might have planned out and instigated most of what happened that night, Harriet’s job was simply… collateral”, and actually giving her an apologetic smile. She waves him off, “oh it’s fine, my current job is better anyway”.
Kwan looking to Danny, recovering from his embarrassment, nodding, “it’s true. Pays better too”. Harriet tilting her head and muttering, “though I’m not sure how you would have caused the ghost problems”, and taking a sip of her drink.
Danny stares at her before barking out a laugh and shaking his head, “um, he went to college with my parents. He was right in the weeds with them with all the ghost stuff”.
“Yes, until that oaf hospitalised me for seven years”.
“And how many times has he apologised for that and tried to make amends?”.
“He didn’t even visit me once, Daniel”.
“And now how many times have I told you that while that’s totally messed up you need to move on? I mean really”, gesturing at Harriet, who looks a little concerned, “this is a good step though. I approve”.
“I doubt I need your approval”.
Danny smirks meanly, “you sure about that one”. Vlad looks a little offended. Danny looking to Harriet, “does he not talk your ear off about ghosts?”.
She hums, tapping her chin, “well, yes. But he is the mayor of a ghost-infested and focused town”.
Danny points loosely, “point”.
Harriet smiles before asking, finishing off her bit of turkey, “what made you intrested in my son though?”.
Danny chuckles and Kwan shakes his head with a laugh. Danny swallowing a bit of food before explaining, “well you see I broke my arm-”. Her eyebrows raise at that. “-face-planted into the pole of a stop sign-”. She has to purse her lips to keep from laughing then. “-kinda stumbled into oncoming traffic and got run over-”. She blinks a few times, Vlad pulling a face next to her. “-slipped and fell down an uncovered manhole while trying to get up-”. That she can’t help laughing at. “-and all he did when I crawled out, tried to sit down on a bench and instead missed and wound up in the trash can, was chuckle and asked if I needed my arm splinted”.
“Daniel, you should be a leash child”.
Danny puts a hand to his chest in dramatic mock offence, “that is the single meanest thing you’ve ever said to me! The audacity!”. Vlad just rolls his eyes at the boy.
Kwan shakes his head, “honestly? What else was I supposed to do. I saw pretty much the entire thing”, blushing a little, “and sure, maybe the fact that he didn’t seem remotely bothered by all that was kinda cute”, shrugging.
“Awww, I’m cute”.
Kwan’s blush only grows, coughing, “and him backflipping Dash kinda sealed it”, giving his mom an awkward ‘can we please move on’ look. She smiles at him a bit meanly making him groan to himself.
Harriet looks Danny up and down, the boy was very much a twig, “you’re stronger than you look”. Her not thinking much of both Danny and Vlad smirking secretively at that.
Kwan eyeing his mom, “so what about you and… uh, Vlad”.
She laughs a little, “we ran into each other at a coffee shop of all things. Cliche, I know”. Everyone snorts or laughs at that.
Vlad chuckling, “yes, I did not think anyone else in this town even knew what breve coffee was”. At Danny raising his eyebrows and seemingly going to speak, “you don’t count, dear boy”.
“Boo, you whore”.
Kwan starts laughing.
And with that, the diner comes to a close. Harriet shooing the boys off to play games before moving to clean up the dishes. A little surprised Vlad artfully rolls up his cuffs and offers to dry. He was a fairly selfish and self-centred man, but not necessarily to a fault.
“Well, seems that went well, my dear”.
She blushes a little and nods, “yeah. You and Danny knowing each other certainly made things different”.
Vlad simply nods and hums contemplatively to himself. Him knowing the child of his interest is both a lucky coincidence and also a slight bump in the road as it were. He knows Daniel is protective of him as he is of Daniel. If Harriet or Kwan messed up or became an issue that could spell problems for everyone. But further, Vlad’s well aware that his and Daniel’s relationship was antagonistic enough that their interactions will eventually come off as fairly strange or even hostile. Their sort of rivals sort of mentor and apprentice situation was nothing short of unusual. And both him and Daniel have a bad habit for attracting trouble; combined with the fact that Daniel was, quite honestly, a horrible gossip.
Things were bound to get rocky sooner rather than later, and glancing at Harriet, who’s finishing up the dishes while whistling, he thinks he’d rather not see this ruined. In short, honesty might also be needed sooner rather than later. But he’ll have to talk with that child first, since his own honesty likely meant Daniel’s as well.
-
Danny, meanwhile, was having similar thoughts. Knowing that neither he nor Vlad had the kind of luck to keep things hidden without said hiding causing problems. Also also, he wasn’t about to fuck up Vlad’s personal happiness. Pester him? Yes. Mock him relentlessly? Definitely. Maybe shit kick him? Probably. But screw with the old dude's love life? Hell naw.  Besides, Kwan was a really cool and caring guy actually; best friend to Dash or not. At least that fact was getting him treated better by Dash though, and wearing Kwan’s football bro jacket was absolutely a hilarious way to get a rise out of Dash; not that Danny didn’t wear it purely because he also just so happened to want to. Kwan was good and kind, and probably the only relationship he’s ever been in that wasn’t self-destructive or doomed to implode.
Regardless though, he should probably actually pay attention to the game.
-
Vlad finishes up with the drying and moves to be standing next to Harriet, watching the two boys play their video game and him speaking low, “while I know I haven’t spoken at length about my… relation with Daniel’s parents. Maddie… and Jack; I am working on leaving that in the past. So to speak. I can assure you there is nothing between me and Maddie anymore”.
Harriet purses her lips, “and I believe that but I feel like there’s some kind of reason there that you’re not telling me”; she has, after all, learned to read the man relatively well.
Vlad sushi’s and shakes his head slowly, “those two are not good parents. I’d be hard-pressed to even call them good people”.
“What? But they help protect the town? And while Jack is a truly massive fool, Maddie’s a sweet woman”; she did consider the woman something of a friend after all.
Vlad eyes her a bit, “not everything they do is so public, and I’m very aware of what, exactly, often goes on in that lab of theirs. Partly because Jack seems to still think I’m his ‘best pal’ and partly because I know them as I do. They don’t believe ghosts have feelings or the ability to feel pain, that leads to their treatment of ghosts being… less than humane”.
Harriet blinks at him harshly, whispering, “torture, you mean torture”.
“Yes, that I do. And frankly, I don’t know why they had kids. Their work has always come first before everything. Unfortunately, that includes not only their friend's health and safety, but also their children's. Daniel’s small stature, to put it bluntly, is a result of malnourishment”, scoffing, “I don’t know why that boy has any fondness for them”.
She shakes her head, “well I guess I’m rather glad you care for him then”. Making the man huff, “I would have made him my son of he would have had it”, shaking his head, “but alas, as I’ve said, he likes them too much. And-”, holding up a finger and looking directly at her, “-ultimately, if Daniel doesn’t want me to do something. Genuinely doesn't. Then it is unlikely I’ll do it”.
“Why?”.
“… because he’s a better person than me”.
-
Meanwhile, Danny had nudged Kwan, still moving the controller around wildly like doing so would help, “just so you know, Vlad’s kinda fucking crazy. So maybe keep an eye out for, oh I don’t know, vaguely creepy holographic ai’s of your mom cropping up”.
Kwan blinking, “dude, the entire town knows the mayors got some screws loose. I think you have to be a little crazy to be this town's mayor, and you’re crazy too”, and smirks.
“Crazy in love”.
Kwan groans, “oh god”.
Danny smirks, “yes I am a very good god”, when his character successfully manages to kill Kwan’s, “a god of death that is”; and gives Kwan a ‘ha ha I win’ peck on the cheek. Chuckling, “jokes aside, Vlad’s a guy that needs some wiggle room. Old dude's been through some shit”.
“Knowing your dad, I don’t doubt that. Every time I’ve met him I’ve gotten covered in goop or attacked by deli meats”.
Danny laughs very loudly at that. “Yeah well, they’re… them. And while I love ‘em, neither me nor Vlad have really forgiven them”, and shrugs.
Kwan blinks, side-eyeing Danny, “so what I’m getting here, is watch out for him but if he gets hurt that’s gonna be a problem”.
“I’m protective what can I say”.
Kwan just shakes his head with a small smile at that.
---
Harriet waves from the doorway with her son, the two boyfriends heading out and very clearly harassing each other about finding romantic interests. Harriet speaking at her son after a while, dropping her hand, “so, did yours give you a ‘hurt him and we’re through’ talk?”.
“Yeah, pretty much”.
Harriet shakes her had, laughing a little, “well I guess I’m glad they like each other. Vlad’s not the most fond of most people so I was worried about that”, smiling at her son, “but apparently you found the one teen he’s actually genuinely fond of”.
Kwan grins right back, “and I was worried Danny would be too much of a pest, but apparently you found the one adult who can actually put up with him”.
“Is he really that bad?”.
“I’ve heard teachers send thank you prayers when he doesn’t show up for class and the Jone’s coffee shop has warning posters up about him”.
“Vlad’s secretary always gives me pitying looks when I go to see him. And I’m pretty sure one of the construction workers for his home here tried to slip me a ‘get help’ abuse hotline card”.
They both look back out at the street, with neither guy being visible anymore. Apparently, they both really knew how to pick ‘em.
---
Danny floating, cross-armed, above his boyfriend's house. Watching it while muttering at the also floating and watching Vlad, “so you gonna fuck this up by being creepy and all villainie?”.
He huffs, “are you going to by sacrificing your relationship for his safety?”.
Both of them glance at each other and smile, shaking their heads.
“Harrie’s a journalist, I’m opposed to being caught enough to not risk such a thing”.
“And Kwan’s tough, he can handle himself just fine”.
Danny holds up a fist for a fist bump, Vlad eyeing it before rolling his eyes and giving the child his wanted fist bump.
“So still on for afternoon sparing?”.
“Always, Daniel. You need as much help as you can get”.
“Hey! You’re the one getting help from me on dealing with overpowered opponents”.
“Your form leaves much to be desired, my boy”.
Annnnnnnd queue the usually more than just weekly fight between Danny Phantom and Vlad Plasmius; which would inevitably wind up on the news as it always did. Two people vaguely watching, not realising they were watching their particular interests duking it out.
End.
Prompts: Harriet Chin has been dating Vlad for a while now. Meanwhile, her son Kwan has been with his boyfriend Danny for a few weeks. It's time to introduce their respective boyfriends to each other, and what better way than a family dinner to meet them both at the same time? and Vlad mentors Danny (PR072)

An Effort (Unfinished)
I wanted to write about Sue’s grandmother making an effort to try and bond with Lucifer but I don’t know where to go from here. I still want to share what I got though
Pairings: Sue X Lucifer Word Count: 802 Chapters: N/A Genres: General Warnings: Mentions of religion and abuse.
The radio was playing a marathon of songs from way back in the day, some of the music from America and the rest calypso. It was a nice background noise for chopping and dicing ingredients for a good pelau. While the house was never truly chaotic, its peace reached its zenith when Harriet was the only one there.
She checked her phone for the time then set it back down on the table. In a few hours, she’d have to get ready to go to the chapel and perform her usual duties. Harriet never passed up on church. However, for the first time in ever, she had been reluctant to go.
Despite her best efforts, word somehow got about. It seemed like pretty much everyone knew how her third grandchild married a demon. It was shameful how a woman so devoted to the Father would just let her granddaughter marry Lucifer with little to no protest. But as much as she wished Sue had married someone else, Harriet couldn’t bring herself to intervene.
The last time she played a role in her daughter’s relationship, she ended up getting her into an abusive marriage. While her own marriage lasted until her husband’s death, it was loveless. A woman like her shouldn’t arrange marriages, she thought.
In her deep thoughts, she didn’t hear the sound of a car sliding to a halt by the front gate. It wasn’t until she heard the sound of a neighbour screaming at them that she knew they had arrived.
“Is God cul-de-sac yuh threading on!” A lady roared. “Get de hell out!”
Then there was dead silence. Harriet imagined Lucifer throwing a glare at that neighbour, whoever she was. He had a threatening presence, very befitting of a demon, and he wasn’t afraid to use it.
She stopped what she was doing to answer the door before they could even think of touching that doorbell. The first person she noticed was Sue. Her apparel was relatively simple; a white shirt, black leggings and sneakers with a baseball cap to block out the sun. She was holding Vlad on her hip.
The little boy obviously had a long day. He participated in Kiddies’ Carnival for the first time, Red Cross Children’s Carnival to be precise. It was perfect for him, a boy usually brimming with energy. Must’ve had a ball. Now he was trying to fight sleep while still mostly dressed in his costume. He gave a tired smile as he reached out for Harriet.
“Granny!” He said wearily.
Harriet took the boy in her arms and kissed him on the nose. The rest of his face was almost completely covered in glitter makeup.
“Have you been a good boy today?” Harriet asked.
Vladimir drawled “Yes…”
“You didn’t bite anyone or anything today, did you?”
“Noooo…”
Harriet gave Sue a kiss on the cheek before handing her back the boy. Then she turned her attention to Lucifer. He was overdressed as usual– shirt, waistcoat, pants with a gold chain belt, leather shoes and a coat he couldn’t be bothered to wear properly–and while he was trying to look approachable, Harriet was still somewhat frightened.
“Good afternoon,” Harriet greeted, putting out her hand for him to shake. “How are you?”
"I'm doing alright, thank you," Lucifer answered.
They shook hands awkwardly. Harriet thought about giving him a hug but she wasn't sure if he'd allow her. She invited them in.
"Man, this house changed a lot over the years," Sue observed, "But the kitchen is still the same."
“It is, isn’t it?” Harriet switched on the electric kettle on her way to the cabinets. She took out a box of Red Rose Tea, a jar of soy milk powder and a jar of sugar for Sue and Lucifer. Vlad was too tired to be interested in anything. Sue put him to rest on the couch in the living room.
While Lucifer sat with them at the table, it was clear he wasn’t expecting to be spoken to. Harriet wondered if he wouldn’t mind her starting a conversation with him. She felt a little guilty about not interacting with him before beyond greetings. After all, despite everything, he was family now. She wanted to be a better in-law than most she knew.
“How has Trinidad been for you?”
Lucifer’s eyes widened a bit in surprise. He didn’t answer right away. Harriet wondered if any other family members avoided talking to him.
“I tolerate it, I suppose,” Lucifer said plainly. “Things could be a lot better, and certain places a lot cleaner but the nicer parts are truly something to behold.”
“I see,” Harriet nodded, wondering what to say next.
“We went to the Bamboo Cathedral just the other day,” Sue beamed.
“I had to stop this lady from venturing too far.”

Harriet gifts Vlad with a "#1 Best Dad" mug one say and Vlad reacts appropriately
Nice! I think we all know where this is going.
"Here," Harriet said, and Vlad thanked her, unwrapped the small mug. A plain white mug.
"Thank you?"
"Heat it up, fire boy."
Vlad narrowed his eyes. "Is this revenge for the Thanksgiving prank? I said I was sorry," he said, slowly heating the mug with ectoplasm.
She laughed, which didn't reassure him. "You'll see. Look!"
Heated, the mug showed a blue-ish background, with #1 Best Dad on it in black lettering. He looked at the mug, then at Harriet. The mug, Harriet. Mug. Harriet. "Are you - this isn't a joke, right?"
In response, she slid a plastic baggie with two white and one pink stick- pregnancy tests, all different brands. "Turns out I don't have the stomach flu after all."
She laughed when he tossed the bag, picked her up, and spun her around. "Hey- watch the mug, that's the only Father's Day gift you're getting this year!"
Vlad cackled and planted kisses up and down her neck until she caught his face between her hands. "Happy Father's Day."
"Thank you for making me one."

For the ask game: Vlad x Harriet?
How fun! Dialogue heavy. Hmm... Oh, how about this?
"You're never living this down," Harriet teased.
"Oh, come on, be nice. It's my birthday."
"And the birthday boy-"
"Don't say it," he groaned.
"The supernatural birthday boy got so scared in Jurassic Park-"
"Why are you so mean to me?" Vlad whined half-heartedly. He let himself fall into the couch, then dramatically sunk halfway through.
"That he dropped the popcorn and climbed into the lap of a 5' 4" Asian woman." Harriet finished smugly.
"I'm never this mean to you."
"Along Came a Spider. Silence of the Lambs. How many times have you made me watch Jaws again?" Harriet hummed thoughtfully while he tried to deny. "Oh, right, 14! And every time, you swear you just like the movie," he started snickering and she booped him on the nose, "only to watch my reactions instead."
"To be fair, you're prettier than the movies."
"To be fair, you're a cheesehead." He gasped, faux affronted, and she laughed. "You're pretty cute too, though."
"Pretty cute?" Vlad demanded, hauling himself out of the couch. "Pretty cute? Oh, I think I'm more than that."
Harriet laughed as she was cornered, and reached up to tug the frankly stupid mustache he was trying to grow. "Real cute if you shaved that off."
He pouted at her, and she moved her arms to wrap around his neck. He came over pretty easily, and immediately buried his head in her hair. 'Weirdo', she thought fondly. "Did you have a good birthday, though?"
"Mm. I did, thank you."
"Good." She managed to yawn in her boyfriend's face, but she was long past the point of caring. "Please tell me you're tired."
"I could use a nap," he agreed- Vlad for 'I'm so exhausted I might actually die.' "C'mere."
She squeaked when he picked her up, and smacked his shoulder. "Warn a girl, next time!"
"Mm-hmm."
"You're so lucky I love you," she grumbled when she was dropped by about half an inch to the bed- though she was nearly certain he saw right through it when he snuggled around her.
"I am," he said quietly, "and I love you too."

Harriet chuckled when she dug through the books the next day after a long, exhausting day at work. All occult stuff- Vlad would probably like them. Still, her grandmother would ask to make sure she'd read them, so she cracked them open.
The signs of a ghost, however, were- well.
She was quickly less amused. "Ghosts become fixated on a person, place or action, and must destroy or claim it," sounded like something out of a bad horror movie.
Flickering lights. (Except her bedroom, every area in the apartment had lights that flickered. According to the book, that meant this was the only room a ghost hadn't touched.)
Smells. Awful, brimstone and sulfur, or rot. Sentient ghosts would often seek to cover the scent. (Why did Vlad keep so many plants- all herbs or flowering plants with strong scents?)
Cold spots- they were everywhere but her room.
A hunger. Constant, gnawing hunger that could be appeased by food being sacrificed. (Vlad was always hungry, unless it was a homecooked meal. Always.)
She shook her head, disgusted with herself. Vlad was not a ghost, that made no sense and wasn't physically possible. He was alive. The lights flickered? Their apartment was old. Vlad liked plants an abnormal amount? At least it was something harmless and not drugs.
Cold spots- again, this was a turn of the century building. So Vlad was always hungry- maybe the radiation poisoning had affected his ability to feel full or something.
Besides, none of the descriptions of minor spirits or malevolent ghosts fit him.
That was when she found the chapter on guardian ancestor spirits.
"Despite the name, not all guardian spirits are ancestors, though that is most common. Sometimes, they can be strangers. Their lotalty and love can be earned while dying or shortly after death by the cleaning of gravestones and other rites after death," the book said, "though ghosts without gravestones can still happen, particularly in cases of burning, murder, or strong emotions tied to their death."
Burning. (He was burned and boiled alive, cooked by radiation.)
She read on, after listening carefully to determine her roommate was still watching TV. Or, at least, the TV was still on.
Cooking and sacrificing food to the deceased, speaking to them as if alive, caring for them, cleaning the gravestones. She'd done all that- except for the gravestone thing.
"Harriet, you're being ridiculous," she muttered to herself.
It turned out the incense her grandmother had given her was the best for casting out malevolent ghosts. They were repelled by their reflection in copper mirrors. Writing their names on yellow and paper and burning would set the spirits free.
Red beans would satisfy them. They feared peaches. Well. Peach wood, but she supposed peach wood staves were hard to smuggle.
She thought about it and snorted. "Couldn't hurt anything," she said to herself.
She finished changing into her pajamas and took the incense and burner to the living room, where she could hear the TV still going. True to form, Vlad was laid out on the sofa, half asleep to the sounds of a laugh track.
"Hey. Mind if I light this?"
"Mm-mm," he grunted, and she did.
No immediate reaction. She sat down, moving his feet so they were in her lap and leaning back.
After an hour, the only changes were the air smelling of peaches and sage, Vlad snoring heavily, and her legs falling asleep.
She chuckled at herself. "Told you it was ridiculous," she muttered to herself. "You're not a malevolent ghost, are you?" Harriet quietly asked. Vlad started to drool a little.
She squirmed out from under his legs, closed the window, then crushed the ember on the incense. She shook Vlad's shoulder gently and he groaned. "'M 'sleep."
"Your back will thank me later if you sleep in a real bed. Trust me."
He whined and threw an arm over his eyes. "Nnn. Sleep here. Go 'way."
She fought the urge to coo. He could be so adorable sometimes. Instead, she tugged lightly on his hair. "I won't leave you alone until you go to sleep."
He pouted up at her, bleary eyes half-closed. "Y'r mean."
"No, I'm not," she laughed. "Go to bed, or I don't want to hear about your backache tomorrow."
Vlad groaned and rolled to his feet. She waited until he managed to get his door open to return to her room. She was hit with the smell of flowers, as usual- but underneath that, the faint scent of petrichor.
"You're being ridiculous, Harriet," she reminded herself yet again. And then she went to bed. She did not notice that, in the copper mirror hanging around her neck, Vlad was not reflected. Something else was reflected instead.
-
Within a week, Harriet had mentally dismissed her Grandmother's presents as nothing more than superstition. As always with food she made, Vlad ate both the red beans and peaches like they were going out of style.
Writing his name on yellow paper and burning it did nothing but smoke up the kitchen. (And make him crow, unbearably smug, that he wasn't the only one who burned food anymore.)
She'd lit the incense a few more times- it smelled nice- and the only change was Vlad picking up a few more boxes on the way to work one day. And it wasn't like he was avoiding the smell- one of the packs he bought was identical to hers.
The only thing still causing a little... She wouldn't call it suspicion. Suspicion implied guilt for a crime. But maybe curiosity? The only thing leaving her curious was the mirror.
She'd left it on the coffee table the day after she lit the incense. When she came home from work, it had been turned over, shiny side down.
Then, the kitchen counter because it made some pretty reflections with the neon lights from the building across the street. Again, when she looked next- this time on the way to work- it was face down.
And now, a few days later, it was missing. Harriet rapped her knuckles against the cheap countertop and finally decided keeping the peace was worth more than an old copper mirror. Besides, it probably just slid under the couch or something.
She noticed the reddish gleam- under the couch, as she thought, and huffed at herself. Why would Vlad bother messing with a piece of copper?
When she pulled it out, however, she swallowed.
There were 5 distinct divots around the edges, where it seemed the copper had been melted. Soot blackened the shinier part and, on the back, she could see the reverse of a hand-print as if it had been melted in someone's hand.
She put it in her pocket, debating whether to bring it up or not. What she was thinking was physically impossible. She wasn't living with a ghost; he had a pulse, he was a bit weird but ultimately harmless to her, he-
He, Maddie, and Jack had been trying to open doors to other dimensions.
And how many times had he died?
"It's finally over!" He'd told her at her graduation. But when she asked if he meant the radiation poisoning, he'd evaded the question. Instead, he'd just said 'something like that'.
But that was-
Her investigation- snooping, and a gross invasion of privacy that she was nearly certain Vlad would never do to her, if she was being honest- would need to wait until after work.
"No." She said to herself, and pocketed the mirror. "I'll just have to- to do an investigation. Think of it like that," she said to herself. "I'm not- invading privacy, or breaking in, I'm just investigating."

Chapter under the cut! (Also, I shamelessly paraphrazed the wine convo from Schitt's Creek, you can see it here)
"Mother, Grandmother, so good to see you!" Harriet greeted, and the three women exchanged hugs.
Kim cleared her throat and leaned in for a loose, quick embrace, while her little sister, Amy, did the same. Michael patted her on the shoulder.
She shook her father's hand, polite and cool. Then, she shook the hand of the young man standing beside him, and introduced Vlad.
They had catered to her grandmother's house. With a staff and everything for only 13 people. She had not been prepared for this. If Kim had mentioned the boy her dad invited over was the son of a vehicle manufacturing tycoon, maybe she would've- and would've been able to warn Vlad of the very fancy manners required, and how to use all the little forks and spoons.
After all, her family was new money. His was old money. Old, old money. As in, if the fall of the Russian royal family hadn't happened, he would have a title.
To her surprise, it didn't seem to throw him at all. And then she remembered- Masters. From the Romanov-Masters, according to some of the things he'd mentioned offhand in their talks while he was in the hospital. Vlad might enjoy normal things like football, hockey, greasy takeout, and cheap booze, but he was probably more used to this sort of thing than she was.
"So Harriet, James here is a doctor! What does your... Brad, was it? Do for a living?"
Vlad smiled. "I go by Vlad. Technically, Vladimir Romanov-Masters."
She noticed he didn't mention he'd recently started a bartending job. That didn't matter to her dad- judging by the way his face paled, he realized that he was talking to a person whose last name was on multiple libraries, museums, and public buildings.
"I've got two PhDs and a Master's degree, though I'm taking a gap year. Tell me, James, where do you practice?"
James cleared his throat. "The Romanov-Masters Oncology Center."
Vlad smiled. "Wonderful building. I've always been fond of the skylights my grandfather ordered built into the main center. Have you seen it, Harriet?"
"I can't say I have, no."
"It's a twin to the Romanov-Masters Museum of Science and Technology. He had both buildings built at the same time as a gift for his second wife."
"That was Katlya, right? Or your Babushka?"
"Babushka was Valeska- wife number four. The buildings were built for Katlya, though." He replied cheerfully. "Babushka was the one I'm named after."
"How do you get babushka out of Valeska?" Kim asked.
"Babushka just means Grandmother," Harriet answered. "It would be like if we called Grandmother Lao Lao."
She smiled. "Oh, I could've sworn I told Kim I was dating a doctor." His glare swung over to her sister.
Her father cleared his throat and glared at her. "Harriet, I didn't think you mentioned we would have such a distinguished guest."
Kim laughed nervously. "Well, you know how Harriet is. I thought she was joking."
Vlad tilted his head to one side. "Really? Why would she? She's certainly lovely enough to catch anyone's attention, wouldn't you say?"
Kim laughed awkwardly, and Harriet decided she'd leave him alone about the plant theft for at least 2 weeks. "Of course she is."
Once her mother started talking about something- anything else, really- Vlad leaned over. "You didn't mention the full last name, did you?" He sounded delighted.
"Nope," she replied, carefully hiding her grin.
"Tricky. I approve."
"You're going to make me laugh, stop." She whispered back.
"Harriet, you mentioned something about football games to your sister. Have you gained an interest in sports?"
Vlad raised an eyebrow, knowing full well she knew nothing about football and didn't care to learn.
"That was supposed to be a surprise," she said, and feigned a sigh. "Oh, well. I got us Packers tickets for your birthday."
Vlad beamed. "Thank you! The Packers and the Maple Leafs are my favorite teams, really."
"The Maple Leafs aren't a real football team," her father said with a frown. "There isn't a need to lie and make up names to cover my daughter's interest in something unladylike."
Vlad got that odd stony-faced look he did when he was considering something awful, and she discreetly bumped him with her knee. The last time, he made a jerk on the bus cry. "The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the foremost and well-renowned hockey teams worldwide. You are correct- they aren't a football team. However, they are a team."
Her father flushed and her mother winced. Her Grandmother looked delighted, and Amy tried to disappear behind Michael and his wife.
"I see." Her father said coldly. "My apologies."
Vlad made a...less grumpy face. "Of course. And I don't mind any unladylike interests. Harriet is certainly worthy of love and attention even if she weren't a-"
3 weeks. She'd leave him alone about plant theft for 3 weeks. And look at tickets to a Maple Leafs game.
"She is my daughter, and as such my feelings on the matter of her behavior are the ones that matter. You are hardly married to her."
"I wasn't aware this was 1789- I thought it was 1989, my apologies."
Her father stood, slammed his hands on the table, and a candle unexpectedly flared, lighting his sleeve on fire. Harriet calmly took a sip of her wine as the rest of the table began to panic. God, she wished she had pictures.
-
Dinner went well, or terribly, or terribly well depending on who you asked.
Harriet leaned towards terribly well. Her father, no doubt, leaned towards terribly.
"Harriet, I am so sorry, I shouldn't have gotten into that argument with your father."
She beamed at him. "It's fine. I'm pretty sure the rest of the family likes you."
"Even after your father ruined your sister's dress because he was set on fire?" He asked dryly.
She grinned and leaned on his arm, not caring about the soot clinging to his sweater in the least. "Oh my dad and Kim hate you, maybe even Amy. But I had a great time."
He snorted. "Well, I can never look your parents in the face again, so I suppose it's good you don't bring them over."
She laughed. "Well, my grandmother adores you, so there's that."
"I have no idea why," he chuckled. "What did she give you?"
Her grandmother had pulled her aside shortly after the fire, and given her a seemingly random assortment of items. Several books, a few packs of incense and a holder, a small copper mirror, and a small stack of recipe cards involving red beans or peaches.
"Completely random stuff," she answered, "and a few new recipes."
He made a noise much like a happy dog, and Harriet found herself snickering. "Too bad you can't cook," she teased.
"I can make pancakes!"
"And?"
"...and I am otherwise not allowed to touch anything in the kitchen except the fridge, microwave, and kettle."
"Thank you," she said, and he snorted.
Suddenly, she stopped. "This isn't the way to the bus stop." In fact, it was the opposite direction- faster to the apartment, but it crossed a damn cemetery.
"The busses stop at 9," he said with a frown, and looked at his watch. "It's already 9:30."
She checked her own, using the light-up display. "9:40, actually. Damn it. I hate the cabs this time of night, they're so creepy."
"It's only 2 blocks if we cut across Forscythe."
He grinned, and for a moment she swore there was a bluish tint to his skin. She saw the blue neon sign over his shoulder and dismissed it. "Harriet, I promise I won't let any ghosts hurt you."
She looked at him incredulously. "Vlad. It's Friday the 13th, and you want to cross a cemetery at night."
Again, there was that odd seriousness. If it had been anyone else, there would probably be a mocking tone, but Vlad was deadpan- as if it was a serious concern and he could realistically stop it.
"It's not the ghosts- I'm not even sure they exist- it's the fact it's pitch black out here, and we don't exactly live in the best part of the city."
He frowned. "Fair enough. I suppose we could see if the cashier will let one of us use the phone to call a cab?"
She thought about it and sighed. "Is it bad that the cemetery sounds safer than a cab at night?"
"It is," he agreed. "Is it one specific driver, or just a weird feeling, do you think?" Vlad asked, leading them forward again. "I've never had that, but I don't usually take cabs anywhere."
"No offense Vlad, but you're a 6-foot-tall white man, and I'm a 5'4" Chinese-American woman. Our experiences are not the same."
"I'm sorry," he apologized immediately, and she shook her head.
"No, it's not your fault, it's just- people see you, and they see someone who probably isn't worth the fight they'd have to put up. People see women, especially women of color, and see a target."
She couldn't see his face now, with the streetlights becoming a rarity as they neared Forscythe Cemetery. "I can get that, sort of- but I can hide it, if you get what I mean."
"I don't," she said, "sorry. Care to explain?"
"I, ah-" he cleared his throat. "Well. Have you heard the wine metaphor?"
"I haven't."
They passed the cemetery gates, and in the faint light, she could only see vague parts of the path. Vlad, however, seemed to have no trouble, and she held tightly to his arm. "I am a red wine drinker. Based on what you've mentioned about former boyfriends, you are too."
That was definitely a non-sequitur. Before she could ask for clarification, he continued, "but I'm also a white wine drinker. And merlot, and cabernet, and- well. There are laws against anyone who likes to drink more than just red wine."
She opened her mouth when it hit her. Red wine. A woman who has boyfriends- but not girlfriends. Anti-sodomy laws. "Oh."
"When I'm drinking red wine, there's no problems. When I start drinking anything else, well. I have to be careful." He took a deep breath and sighed. "But as I said- I can hide it. Luckily, I don't only drink white wine, many have it considerably harder."
"I see. That's- I can't say I didn't expect it, but- thanks. For telling me."
He squeezed her arm lightly with his free hand. "Least I could do after ruining dinner."
Harriet laughed, and felt relief as they left the darkened cemetery in favor of the street lights. "Hey, it's not like you set my dad on fire. People can't really do that. Besides, he wasn't hurt except his pride, and he needed to get knocked down a peg."
He chuckled. "That would be impossible for a human," he agreed.
They were mostly quiet until they reached the apartment. She'd had a long day at work, following a long week stressing about the dinner, and it was freezing. She shamelessly absorbed some of Vlad's body heat- how he was warm in the chill air, she had no idea.
"Thanks for doing this," she said as she pulled off her heels and he untied his only pair of nice shoes.
He smiled. "Anytime."

Note
Vlad finally proposes to Harriet, Grandmother Chin approves and as far as they are concerned that's the only approval they need.
👀 Grandmother performs the ceremony! In exchange, of course, for at least one grandchild having her name.
Michael's will do. She's still on board with the kidnapping.
