Ever since I wrote this fic, I'm OBSESSED with the idea that the Kryze-Kenobi family has a Vulptex
Like:
Look at this thing. It's beautiful. I know it was originally in the sequels on Crait, but STILL.
I still think that Satine had a soft spot for Tookas because of Korkie, who has several rescues, but THIS thing -
It looks like a Pokemon and I adore it. I need multiple chapters of their little daughters (and Korkie, even though he lives on freaking Mandalore) ganging up on their parents to adopt a pet.
Obi-Wan would gladly adopt an animal, they need a home, the kids could begin to learn responsibility, I would love a creature to take with me on missions -
It's Satine that's resistant. She always had animals growing up. Her father bred various types of canines as hunting guides. She loved animals - but she knows how hard it is to lose a beloved pet, how much of the responsibility falls on the adults, the damage a young animal can do to a home -
She finally, finally caves after months of begging and they all troop off to space-ASPCA because a Galaxy as big as theirs HAS to have the same equivalent, right???
And it's loud, with animals of all ages and sizes and pedigrees. Tookas with one ear, Nubian guard cats with sad eyes, hounds that don't quite have a breed, even those horribly dwarfed Banthas from bad breeding...
The staff is elated that THE Duchess Satine and General Kenobi are there with their kids (including Korkie, who shows up at the randomest times). They show them all the best, from the purebreds to the show dogs to young animals that can only just leave their mothers.
Satine kind of hangs back, watching her family pet and interact with all the animals, knowing it was gonna be a hard choice with many tears. This is something she didn't want to happen, part of the reason she was so against having a pet in the first place. They could have gone to a breeder, adopted the best of the best... But that wasn't in any of their hearts.
She notices the attendant skim over a large cage with a soft "we can leave him be, he's not terribly social" and hangs back at the cage.
At the back of the kennel is a shimmery, fox-like creature. It's fur looks like crystals, though dull and neglected. This one is silver and blue, and watches her with sad eyes from it's cot.
It looks like it's given up.
Satine kneels at the kennel, stretching out her arm and resting curled fingers against the cage. She remembers that some animals that had been abused preferred a relaxed hand to an open palm.
The creature lifts his head a bit, like it's shocked at being seen. He stares at her for awhile, like he's testing her, waiting for her to walk away... And when she doesn't, it's tail hesitantly wags but doesn't move from it's spot.
When Obi-Wan and his kids circle back, they find Satine in the kennel thanks to an attendant, this middle-aged Vulptex in her lap. There had been debates on what Tooka to adopt, or a bonded pair of retired hunting hounds that they all liked -
But according to the shelter staff, Moochi - the Vulptex - had been in their care for nearly a year. He'd been the guard dog for a family with numerous kids, but when the family had moved from Coruscant he'd been left behind. The former owners at least had the courtesy to tie him to the shelter door with his belongings and a note.
Most people didn't even do that.
His kids are immediately enamoured by the Vulptex, all kneeling and petting the nervous but happy creature. Satine's eyes are shining when she looks at him, and he knows that they aren't leaving the shelter without this critter.
So they're given Moochi's belongings, filling out paperwork, giving the adoption fee (and far more than the shelter could ever fathom), all while Satine and their youngest Lillian are distracted, petting the now-leashed Moochi, who's tail keeps thumping and chiming sounds echoing from his fur.

The second instalment of the third Star Wars trilogy devided fans with some thinking it was the best of the new trilogy and others completely hating it. It was the only outing written and directed by Rian Johnson. It continued the Saga of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2 (Jimmy Vee), Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Yoda (Frank Oz), Snoke (Andy Serkis), Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o), Lt Connix (Billie Lourd), Admiral Ackbar (Tim Rose and Tom Kane), and BB8. The movie introduced to the franchise Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern), DJ (Benicio Del Toro), Commander D'Acy (Amanda Lawrence), porgs, fathiers, vulptex, and thala-sirens. While most of the action took place aboard First Order and Rebel Alliance ships, there were also events that took place at Canto Bite (on Cantonica), Crait, Ahch-To, and D'Qar. In this episode Kylo Ren murdered Emperor Snoke and took charge of the First Order. Luke Skywalker revealed why he went into self induced exile and reluctantly agreed to train Rey. Finn and Rose went on an unauthorized mission to try to save the Rebel fleet. Meanwhile, Poe butted heads with both Princess Leia and Vice Admiral Holdo. The movie ended with Luke Skywalker sacraficing himself to save Leia and what was left of the Rebellion. ("The Last Jedi" Star Wars Film Event)

Okay, I did a thing.
So, in the history of AU, there is a group of combat scouts (first unofficial, then became part of the Guard), inspired by Fox. They call themselves the Red Foxes. Yes, yes, very original, but come on, Fox, Guard, red. But APPARENTLY there are no foxes in Star Wars. There's Vulptex, but they're white, crystalline, and from sequels, so... I made my own foxes. A mixture of foxes and maned wolves to be precise. They are large (wolf-sized yes), pack apex predators in their world. Formation of groups is not peculiar to either foxes or maned wolves, but Star Wars should make something cool possible.
The symbol of the Red Foxes, from which I drew this species under the cut:
