the next, he wants his space. stretches himself out on the other side of the bed. and if you come too close, he lowkey groans about it. but like affectionately

he's like a picky cat hopped up on too much adrenaline

i don't think he'd be too overly affectionate, though. if anyone wrapped him up in a cuddle session for too long, he might get pretty antsy. just in case he's gotta move

don't even get me started on the potential for morning wood

since he grew up without a dad himself. he wouldn't want his children to grow up feelin' the way he did

he'd try to be super present in their lives, and very involved. even if things got a little too overwhelming sometimes

he'd wanna be nothing but supportive and loving of all their hobbies and endeavors

peter knows when to set boundaries, but he'd have a tendency to be a little too lenient

once his kid got a little older, he'd be so tempted to drag them into some harmless trouble. to your dismay

like, they'd start pulling pranks on you together. but the pranks are as simple as pelting you with water balloons when you're least expecting it

or, oh no! he ran them to mcdonald's for somethin' to snack on. without you! and right after you said you were gonna make dinner that night too! they'll ruin their appetites like that!

if his kid is born with mutant genes, he'd be so goddamn proud

and a little worried too. he'd be terrified of how his kid would be treated in school, especially for bein' different

his kid definitely wants to become a great, x-men hero like their papa someday

he introduces his kiddo to his favorite music wayyyy early on. like, your newborn is resting in their crib. and he's playin' pink floyd like it's a lullaby

but if his kid grew up listening to all the genres he doesn't, he'd still be as supportive as he could

i do think he'd get pretty anxious, though. might worry he's not a good enough father. maybe thinks he's not cut out for it. you have to reassure him all the time: he's doing the best he can. better than you could ever hope for

he's busy with hero work and teaching a lot of the time. when he starts to get a lil too absent, he's terrified he's neglecting his kid in some way

but he's got no idea his kiddo thinks the entire world of him. literally the coolest dad ever in the history of the universe. his kid will go to school and be like "yeah well my dad's quicksilver"

he's the kinda dad who's gonna splurge on christmas gifts. so many, you won't be able to see the floor. you're worried he stole them all. but he swears on his life he paid for everything. he's gotta set a good example, after all !!

3. Romantic headcanon for fave ship.

Okay so my fave romantic ship is actually SoMa. You probably were hoping for another pair from me though heheh so I'll do two for this one.

I'm realizing that I'm not good at thinking of romantic headcanons for SoMa, because I see them as kids and not getting too romantic till post-canon... So I guess these are more just...intimacies? I like the idea that Soul helps Maka on and off with her boots. Look at those things... They are HEAVY. And I honestly can't tell without going back to look at screenshots but it looks as if the metal? Is an external thing, kind of like the spikes you put on snow boots to walk through ice? It looks like the metal may be its own thing altogether that she wears just for combat's sake. Which...well man, her legs must be strong. But yeah... I feel like Soul helps her on/off with her boots. Which is quite a personal thing. And then Maka, I feel like she does Soul's laundry and specifically hand-washes his head bands for him. Rich boy don't know how to do laundry when he first comes to the academy, fight me... And rather than make fun of him, Maka just...helps. And with the head bands specifically she takes that extra care because they're important to him, to the look he's after. And she never says a word about it, and he probably only shyly and guiltily tells her thanks every other week or so. They don't talk about it. It's just something she does. And then...I like to think he lets her hear him play. Like if he's sitting in his room, writing a new song on his guitar... She creeps up to the door to listen, peering in the crack... He left it open to let her know she's welcome. And she just sits there silently listening to him compose, knowing that in itself is a gift. And he lets his soul be seen in that way, cuz that's so deeply personal.

As for Spirit and Stein, which is who I assume you were really asking about... Shockingly I prefer them platonically, but on the romantic side... And this is all post-canon thoughts for me, for these two, btw.

I think they're actually absurdly gentle with each other, when it comes to physical things. Too much past baggage for both of them individually and together, so they are extremely cautious together and make no assumptions. And if ever things heat up they take a step back and make sure they're both okay. They take things at their pace, neither rushing ahead of the other. Also, Spirit is the one in charge lol. Also I think they spend a lot of quiet time together. Spirit reading some deep book about the history of witch-kind, Stein next to him on the couch studying weapon soul anatomy on his laptop. Till one of them falls asleep against the other, and then oh well trapped forever now guess it's nap time. Just...quiet intimacies like that. They've been together so long that words aren't that necessary; just being together is enough. They already know what the other is thinking. Apparently I'm not creative with romance lol.

5. A crossover related headcanon.

Ho-boy. I don't care for crossovers, lol. But here we go...

Guess I'll pick Kim Possible because it's the thing I have spent the most time in for the last four or five years. (My gosh who let me do that oh it was me oops.)

Mental image of Stein looking at Dr. Drakken, the two sizing each other up, noting each other's similar scars... (my gosh I have a type and that type is mad scientist apparently) and Stein privately thinking to himself... Why is this guy blue? Why's his girlfriend green and have these crazy powers that def aren't soul wavelength? Gotta "befriend" these people and then dissect them.

Meanwhile Dr. Drakken is looking at the screw in Stein's head like, boy you got a screw loose for sure if that's in fact real and how are you still alive? Are you a zombie? Feeling a little scared of him.

Until. Spirit just de-transforms out of Stein's hands and Drakken is like....human weapon??? Okay time to "befriend" these people and figure out how to get my own human weapons.

Basically, mad scientists figuring out how to manipulate the other toward their personal goals.

Jungkook wouldn’t call himself a flat out literature person, but every single Saturday he finds himself right back at the same place. Lingering around, fingers tracing the spines of books that he sees you pick up and shelve after you seemingly get lost in the abyss of sentences.

The sunlight creeps in the floor to ceiling windows, hitting your face just right, causing his heart rate to pick up. To put it simply, your beauty is unlike anything he’d ever seen. The ever growing curiosity of what goes on behind your gold rimmed glasses causing him to return time and time again. You’re sitting pretty on one of the emerald green lounge sets, sipping your coffee while nose deep in a thick book. From the slight peeling of the edges and worn down spine, he can tell it must be a favorite of yours. The soft sigh you expel makes him dreamily gaze, your prettily manicured fingers moving to close the pages for the day. Then your eyes find his, to his panic, as he hastily tries to act like the words on his randomly picked Astrology book are suddenly the most intriguing thing he’d ever laid eyes on.

He hears the rustling of you gathering your belongings, and to his disappointment, you stand to make your exit. Things always end up this way, his courage to approach you always diminishes the second he steps foot into the building. He’s always been shy, never the type to break the ice first, but he’d always found his way around it. That never seems to be the case with you, though. The way your soft wavy brown hair flows, the pinch of your eyebrows when you get so lost in stories, the soft giggles you try to muffle when something makes you unable to suppress it. Everything about you checks his invisible boxes, and yet he still can’t will his stupid feet to move even as you pass him. He looks up right in time to see you softly share a friendly smile at him, his breath hitching in his throat. He musters up a shy close lipped smile, he imagines it may seem like he’s constipated with how he struggles to hold eye contact. But then you’re gone again all too soon.

Sighing as he stands up to put this godforsaken book away, he thinks about how silly he’s actually being. Jungkook has always been somewhat of a romantic, getting lost in daydreams of lifetimes spent on warm touches and a love that could turn others green with envy. Making his way to the hundreds of shelves, he moves to push the book back into place. As he walks back to the seated area, he slowly starts to approach the plush seats you occupied moments before. Fingers rimming the edge of the wooden table, something catches the corner of his eye.

A note?

He hastily picks it up, thinking this just may be his chance to finally open his foolish mouth to speak to you, his breath hitches in his throat as he unfolds the paper.

Groaning, Jungkook flings the offenders arm off of him in a hast.

“Shut up, Tae. It’s not stalking, I’m just really… into books right now…?!” The sentence almost comes out as a question as he continues his attempt to flee, but he’s yet again caught by Taehyung’s endless pestering.

“Pfft, into books my ass! You’ve almost failed every literature course you’ve taken! When are you gonna man up and talk to her? You don’t even know her name yet, dude.” Taehyung moves to rustle Jungkook’s hair, earning yet another annoyed grunt from the younger. Moving to pinch the underside of Taehyung’s arm, you know, the one mom’s do when you’re not listening in the store. Jungkook finally lets out a pleased sigh as his annoyingly handsome friend hisses and scurries away from him. Pulling your note from his pocket, a shit eating grin on his face as he delicately waves it in his friend’s face.

“Her names not the only thing I know now.” Shock immediately passes through Tae’s face, instantly trying to snatch the paper away from Jungkook’s grip of steel. “Uh uh. This is too precious for your dirty hands to touch, back off!” Breaking into an impromptu wrestling match, they struggle against one another all the while bickering back and forth. Just as Jungkook’s about to get a solid slap in, they’re both being yanked away by the collars of their shirts.

“Can you guys just let things be peaceful in this house for like, once?” Seokjin squeals, as the two move to shield their ears from the onslaught of scolding.

“Dude, Kookie finally grew a pair! Now let me go so I can confirm with my own eyes that she’s not a figment of this fool’s imagination!” Taehyung struggles, making Seokjin’s grip on Jungkook loosen. He takes the opportunity while he can and makes a break for it, loud shouts falling behind him as he finally makes it into his mini heaven on earth, locking the door behind him.

Settling down on his gaming chair, he takes out your note to inspect once again. Taking a deep breath, he mentally hypes himself up.

Speaking of food, according to Adonis-kun, this place has excellent pancakes.

Kaoru: Isn’t the focus on meat dishes?

Rei: Mhm. Every hour a limited number of pancakes are served, look to how the chefs ring the bell to signal that they’re ready.

Kaoru: Hmm? I’m looking forward to it.

(Why did Rei-kun mention pancakes?)

(Was it because I talked about prosciutto? But even then, it feels a bit forced to suddenly change topics to pancakes)

(Didn’t he say, “According to Adonis-kun?” How did pancakes even come into the conversation to begin with?)

(I think I figured out what all this discomfort is about…)

(I think they’ve noticed something off… Yeah, I think that’s it… During karaoke, it was Koga-kun…)

IRONHAWK/ Do the big grand gesture

“Okay -” you say,  sitting back and running your hands over the top of your head.  “We can do it your way.  One big grand gesture.  But I don’t think doing a Dobler will work for Tony.  His window is super high up and he wouldn’t hear the boombox.”

Clint laughs.  “Maybe if it was a really big boombox?”  He sits and thinks for a moment.  “Leave it to me, I think I have something.”

It’s several weeks before Clint can set things into motion.  He wants there to be a crowd around when you both make the move.  He wants Tony to feel so awkward that his fight instinct will come out.

You need a party and while convincing Tony to have a party doesn’t normally take a lot, it’d be suspicious coming from Clint.  He manages to convince Natasha to convince Rhodey to convince Tony that it’s time for a big, blowout, Stark-style party.  Coming from Rhodey, Tony agrees to a party quickly.  It’s funny that he’s not suspicious given how often Rhodey tries to talk Tony out of throwing parties.

You show up in an iridescent party dress on the arm of Clint.  The two of you are making the most of your time together as a couple.  You still want Tony to be back together with you both, but you’re starting to realize, either way, you and Clint will be okay as a couple.

Everyone knows about you and Clint dating, so no one spares a second glance when the two of you get up to sing karaoke about two hours in.  Clint has picked the time because it’s far enough in for everyone to be drunk enough not to question why the Karaoke machine is out.

“Hey everyone!” Clint says into the microphone. “You have to listen to us.  We’re doing a duet.”

There’s a mixture of groaning and clapping and you started to scan through the songs. “Before we do though, I just have something I need to say.  We - well - for a while we’ve been messing around.  We had a thing with each other but also with someone else.  We said it would be casual but then we fell in love.  Unfortunately, the other party didn’t want to deal with those feelings.  So we’re here now to say; Tony Stark we are in love with you, and the only reason you're scared of things not working out in the future is because you’re in love with us too.  We think you’re worth the risk, take the jump, man.”

As Clint speaks the bass of the song comes in.  Thump, crash, thump, crash.  Tony looks mortified as everyone else looks around in a state of shock.  The only people who seem to know exactly what’s been going on are Hill, Rhodey, and Natasha.  Each wearing different smirks.

“Have you got color in your cheeks?” you sing.  “Do you ever get that fear that you can’t shift the type that sticks around like summat in your teeth?”

“Are there some aces up your sleeve?  Have you no idea that you’re in deep?  I’ve dreamt about you nearly every night this week,” Clint sings, taking over from you.  You’re surprised by how well he can sing.

“How many secrets can you keep?” you both sing together.

“'cause there’s this tune I found, that makes me think of you somehow and I play it on repeat.  Until I fall asleep, spilling drinks on my settee,” Clint continues.

“Do I wanna know…” you sing.

“If these feelin’ flows both ways?” Clint continues.

“Sad to see you go.”

“Was sorta hoping that you’d stay.”

“Baby, we both know.”

“That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can’t say tomorrow day.”

Tony is staring at you both dumbfounded and you can’t read his expression at all.  You can’t stop now.  You’re going to get through this song and if Tony still doesn’t want any part of the relationship, well that would be on him.

“Crawling back to you,” you both sing.  “Ever thought of calling when you’ve had a few?  ‘Cause I always do. Maybe I’m too busy being yours to fall for somebody new, now I’ve thought it through.”

As you get through more verses of the Arctic Monkeys’ hit, Tony’s expression changes.  Rhodey comes and whispers something in his ear and Tony sighs and nods.  You and Clint won’t take your eyes off him.  This song is for him.  You want him back.

The last chords play out and while there’s confused clapping and everyone looks from Tony to the two of you and back again, Tony gets up and gestures to the stairs.

You and Clint follow after him, all eyes on you both, and end up on the catwalk just the three of you, looking down at the party below.  Even though no one can hear you, they can see you perfectly well.

“You guys just really went out there and blew up my shit, huh?” Tony says. He’s being sarcastic, but you can’t tell if it's sarcasm that says he doesn’t care, or that says he does.

“We love you, Tony,” you say.  “We want everyone to know.”

“And we know you love us, or you wouldn’t be ‘thinking about it.’  You’d have broken up with us,” Clint says.  “Take the leap.  If you don’t, you’ve ruined it, and that’s what you’re scared of doing… right?”

Tony sighs.  “God, you’re annoying.”

“You love it,” Clint says, putting his hand on Tony’s arm.  You reach out and take his hand but neither you nor Clint speak anymore as Tony seems lost in thought.

“Okay,” he says.

“Okay?” Clint asks.

“Okay… you're right.  I do.  Both of you.  And I want it.  If you’ll have me,” Tony explains.

You both grin and wrap your arms around him, pulling him into a tight three-way hug.  Tony buries his head in your neck and sighs happily.  Down below, everyone starts to applaud.  You hum and relax in their embrace.  You’re going to get to have it all.

He Didn’t Have To Be Song-Fic (Leo Dooley and Donald Davenport)

When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new it always winds up feelin' more like a job interview

It used to be just my mom and me. Just the two of us living in that small apartment. We never had much, but as long as we had each other it was okay. Mom always tried to make sure I was happy and well-taken care of. It was never easy for a single mom. I always knew she did her best.

My mom used go on all types dates. She get dates online or from me from work. It never usually ended well.

My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run

The problem with dates and my mom is me. Mom always said it wasn’t my fault that men in her life ran away. I know it is, but what can I do. This is way these things go.

There wasn’t much either one of us could do. Men were turned off by single-mom… by me. I guess the real problem was the men and not me. It never helped when I could see how upset being rejected made my mom.

I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old. He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go 

I remember when Donald Davenport came to see me. My mom had been dating him for awhile and finally brought him over to meet me. I had heard about the famous Donald Davenport and inventions, but he will be famous to me as the one man who didn’t run. He even brought me along on a date with them that night.

Over the next few months, I kept seeing Mr. Davenport. He made it clear he was sticking around my mom and me. I didn’t scare him away.

A few months later I remember lyin' there in bed I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes

I remember the wedding. It was a small affair and mom wanted it that way. Mom wanted it to bed just our closest friends and family. Big D went along with it. I remember he said “I just want you. It doesn’t matter how big or small the wedding is.”

And then all of a sudden, oh, it seemed so strange to me. How we went from somethin's missin' to a family

I remember moving into the house… moving into my home. It followed by the best day of my life. The day I met Adam, Bree, and Chase. The day I met my brothers and sister. It was always great with it being just my mom and me, but there always something messing. I never knew exactly what it was. It wasn’t until that day when I met Adam, Bree, and Chase that I knew.

My family is weird and strange, but I wouldn’t trade that family for anything. Bionics and heroics is a huge part of our lives. That’s okay. That’s what makes my family, well, my family. I wouldn’t want them change.

Lookin' back all I can say about all the things he did for me is I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be

Big D became the only dad I ever knew and the best I could have asked for. I always be grateful for having him in my life. He can be vain and self-centered at times, but deep down he cares and loves us. He was dad that he never had to be.

I suppose I have never called Big D “dad” or anything, but that he what is to me. He is my dad in all but blood. He loves and takes care of me like one.

Author’s Notes: this fic is based off the Brad Paisley Song “He Didn’t Have To Be”(I didn’t write any of song lyrics. I am nowhere his level of song writing) I was listening to the song the other day and I thought of this fic. I know this isn’t my best work, but it’s hard to add information to a Brad Paisley song. He is such a good songwriter that it is very hard to write another on top of the already great storytelling in his song. I tried though. I had a lot of fun doing this fic. I love Brad’s music and work a lot that is fun to share some of music in this way.

I know a few small details are different, but I left lyrics as they were. You really can’t improve Brad Paisley songs. They have such clear storytelling and really good lyrics. Plus, I only did the first two verse and chorus. The full song is four minutes long, if that tells you anything.

I know song-fics are not for everyone and that’s okay. I just had an idea and then wrote it. Anyways, enjoy!

This song is beautifully produced, the melody of “everything will be alright” sounding just slightly off kilter and perfectly fits the teetering vibes of the song. I love the carnival vibe- lyrics flow so effortlessly. The RUNS BRO. Really perfect window into a probably fucked up breakdown. Hope things got better CJ <3 “I don’t blame anybody but me/ You’re too kind, I am a disease!” oof.

A big brown dog named bagel- Nep

“I kind of wanted to bite-” I love the incorporation of bossa grooves into this indie rock, gay as hell love song. “I feel like we’re gonna marry way too quickly” This feeling. Really cute. Vocals are so sweet- you just kind of want to scoop the vocalist up and hug her.

The best of the worst or the worst of the best? The beat switch up had me actually grooving- good shit. "Go to the zoo and see some fish."

Spirit Week- happy trendy

So cozy, comfy, fuzzy. Whenever I hear fuzzy vocals it feels like my ears are being hugged idk why. Sad but in a kind of melancholy optimist way? If that makes sense. Chords got a little tired by the end but I forgive all sins for fuzzzzzzzz

Glow- Alice Phoebe lou 

Aussie vocals perhaps? "When you were dreaming, I looked in. I saw everything." What a sweet, dizzy tune. Sounds like getting drunk in a carpeted room that looks like it’s from the 70s. “I’m a lover, just never knew how” Relatable. Vocalist has this really nice vibrato that reminds me of judy garland or ella fitzgerald, such a nice warm tone. Lots of hug songs in here. I’m a lover of this one. C:

Wasteland- wooded fang

Surf rock type of vibe? Feels like something I’d listen to as the sun sets on a long car trip- about to have a delirious few hours outside of time. I cannot fathom my man’s lyrics but he’s got such a relaxed delivery it’s real fun. Good vibe. "dododododododododo"

Feelin down- primrose

Drum good. Fr the production/recording on these drums is so nice. I feel like im sitting in the drummers lap but in a comfy way- like the rest of the song is absolutely great also but man.. I appreciate the work that went into getting these drums so nice. Also love the moments where the band stops. Love a stop. Satisfying. Ngl the vocals are nice but I wish he’d put a lil more OOmf in it y’know? Just like SEND IT.

 I Fade Away- Tulips Ballad, M.E, CAT DAD

The high vocals really made this for me, just came in and I was like aaah yeah. Then together?? Lovely. Such nice harmonies. Only wish there was a little less repetition but Idk that might just be me listening too hard rn lmao. I like the more subtle production bits but like, the main guitar loop doesn’t have much movement and it left me a lil like… what if you did more? Bass good. I like the piano but what if.. different chord?

I… might be getting fatigued from listening to all this stuff but these chords at the end feel like the same as the last song bro I’m a lil disappointed. It’s just so quick and so… clean? In a bad way? Lmao I think it feels overproduced to me. So many production decisions that don’t feel like they serve the song and only a couple that really feel earned. (cheated and gave it a second listen because I felt kind of bad about having mostly negative comments. Both the vocalists are great and the quality of production is real nice, I just think the producer needed to pull back a bit and let the vocalists do their thing, y'know?)

Big Jack Stauber energy.. Perhaps… too much Jack Stauber energy? I can’t tell if this was a deliberate attempt to emulate the style as an experiment or not. The drowned chords, the vocals that jump down suddenly, all the little cartoon samples. OK I had a look and he’s def got a voice and a sound this song just happens to REALLY sound like it’s going for a Jack Stauber vibe, most of his other stuff is similarly drowned and sample heavy but like… distinct enough that I wouldn’t think to associate the two- it’s literally just this song so he is forgiven in my eyes. Peace and love on planet earth. Honestly I’d forgive him emulating Jack really hard too I mean fuck it man do what satisfies ya. (gave this a second listen and idk why I thought it was so close actually this is good and fine.)

Holy fuck I hate this man. I haven’t listened to the song yet I’m just like- before I make any comment you have to know I’m severely biased against him lmao He sucks he makes me incredibly uncomfortable to watch. ANYWAY presses play hm. Ok. wow. BAD. First song of his I’ve ever listened to and holy fuck. Worse than I thought. Nothing to like about this. It's so low effort. I’m just trying desperately to tune this trash out while I wait for the next song. Holy fuck. OH THANK GOD

Kill your radio- Heartsrevolution

Cute! Feels like something that would play in a scene while a stereotypical girly character beats the shit out of someone. Is that insane? Idk man. maybe I’m just thinking about violence because of dad. It’s fuzzy. The guitars and vocals got that sweet high fuzz on them. This toes the line for me of being like slightly over produced also but I think it’s just my taste. 

Becky- Be Your Own Pet

I’ve heard this one too! It’s just such an edgy teenage hatred song. Just real petty and fun to yell along to. Love the story and the little moments where the band all yells BECKY AAAAA. Good shit. 

Dark matter- Little Big League 

Oh such a sweet sleepy vocal with nostalgic guitars. Love the way the main vocal kind of leans around the notes, feels so effortless. The slight edge in the tone is used so sparingly but so well, such a cool voice. Oh man!! Sorry band you’re great too I just love these vocals!!! I want more growls but I’m feral for growls- the way that tone is used so sparingly to great effect is lovely. 

Better Go- Mel blum 

Familiar with this one too. Just a really catchy, chill tune. Love the stops and little rhythm guitar moments. “Guess I ain’t using my body anyway.” Yeah. Solid tune fr. Love the floaty vibe of the vocals.

Random Firl -Late Of The Pier

Glanced at the band bio and apparently the band formed when they were 16/17 which is cute. They haven’t released anything in a long while but I wanna believe they’re all still friends. Feels like a song I’d have played on repeat in 2015 when I was in a Smallpools phase. The vocal harmonies are very sweet, such a nice wall of sound. Left me wanting more!! AA

You Make me smile- Mamalarky

This squishy bass is fun. Another soft, floaty voice- I guess Spotify is recommending all of these because I listened to so much Stella Donnelly last year. Really like the structure of this song, the way that the synths swell and fall again to make room for the guitar and piano… Just really cool vibes. Love that blending of synth and ‘real’ instrument. Yeah. Just kind of vibing here. Adding this one to my likes for sure. I feel like what sets this apart from some of the others is that the instrumentation is interesting and thick without drowning or outshining the vocals which is hard as heck to do right!!

IDC- carpetgarden 

First few lines are like. Damn. Yeah. Lyrics are heavy but in a fuck this kind of way. Their vocals are so sweet and yet kind of bored sounding? Genuinely really like the vibes. There’s a great energy to the guitars that makes you wanna dance around, real sad but happy at the same time. Kind of song I’d listen to while on the way somewhere to get myself in a good mood lmao. “Worms in my brain and my eyes are full of daisies, My body’s melting and it feels a-fuckin’-mazing” 

Wicca Kids- Pacific Purgatory

This song is underwater! Pull it out!! AAA! Fr tho it’s so muffled it feels like I’m listening through a wall. Kind of a vibe? I do kind of want it a little less muddy tho. I really like the vocals- feels like they’re hiding I wanna drag them out to the front of the mix. This is prob intentional. It is nice, I’m just making grabby hands at all the high frequencies rn. Baby come back. 

Vampire- Lupin

The shades in that title and song name. Chefs kiss. These vocals are great, confident and straight shooting. They cut through really well. Oh no wonder I like this, he’s the vocalist from hippo campus. Solid song. Not super my current taste but it’s definitely hitting every ball it’s trying to hit… if you get me. Knows what it’s about. 

You’re Terrific - LoudFoxCult 

I love the way the two vocals play off each other. This came out in 2018, real cute highschool indie rock vibe and yet- like way better than you’d expect from a highschool indie band so like.. Yeah. Terrific, even.

Scott Pilgrim- Plumtree

Omg I love Plumtree. Punk girls from the 90s kickin ass. I love this band. This is a great song, I like In The Sink better tho. The main lick is super catchy though I can see why this is their most listened to.  “I’ve liked you for a thousand years” Repeated over and over and over because yeah dude I’ve liked you FOREVER. 

WasteUrTime- Kevin Walkman

Bassline hits. Licking my fingers baby this shit tastes GOOOOOD am I going insane? Idk man this song just has a really satisfying groove going, vocalist has a great laidback tone. Feels perfect for the vibe of the lyrics. Horny songs gotta have a goood bass line and y’know. This one did it.

Breakup song if ever I heard one, “I like you more, when you are not around.” Angry and mean in a satisfying way, feels like a diary entry I wrote about an ex. Just like- raw and unfair amounts of bitterness, you know? Kind of shit you’d never actually say. Well idk maybe you would. I’m only mean in my diary tho. Mostly. I love how raw and unornamented the vocals are- it’s a mark of the genre for sure but it just makes the lyrics hit even harder.

Feels like I’ve heard this one a thousand times and yet it’s not in my likes. The vocals are swimmin' in reverb and they’re just- asufghdsuigifih I Love The Dreamy-ness. The “I went to graduation" line coming back with altered timing/tone always hits so good idk it’s such a simple thing but with the force of the band crescendo behind it- it’s like. Fuck yeah, you did!

SO laid back, these lyrics flow so naturally- the vocals sound half asleep in the best way. Solid band. Nothing really stands out to me more than the silly sleepy vocals which are a very good vibe, kind of wish the guitars were played a little less straight to emphasise the drag of the vocals. I was the first triplet, so I picked a totally non-canonically birthday for them that they must now all obey (woops), but I did specifically pick a Leo/Cancer cusp because I felt like those were two very strong personalities that you could either lean into one or the other or both!           i’m noticing how many songs in bakugo’s playlist are total hype songs but also this song is definitely a part of him in a way that tackles his desire to be the number one hero in the nation , or even the world. he’s not trying to live forever , i don’t think he would even consider living to old age , i think he’d rather go out like a hero , die as a king.

          the first line couldn’t be closer to the truth : bakugo’s the way he is because he doesn’t listen to his feelings , he doesn’t talk about his feelings , he’d prefer to keep them locked down deep until they either burst to the surface themselves or he’s forced into talking about them. even during his journey of atonement , it’s still extremely hard for him to discuss what he feels inside & the only people he’s ever talked to about his feelings are all might & midoriya ( though the talk with midoriya was only after beating each other up ). 

          “always been the same and i’ll never change” is another very true line. bakugo will mature as he gets older , so he’ll change in the way everybody changes when they grow from being a teenager , but a lot of who bakugo is & what he wants out of life won’t change. he also won’t change for the people who hate him , but for the people who believe in him as a person who can do better. “catch me with the flames , i’mma decimate and if i rest today , i’ll just accept my fate” hits a little too close to home because that’s basically what happened in canon manga a few chapters ago with shigaraki. bakugo has already proven that he’s going to go for the win , no matter what it takes & if he ends up sacrificing his life for it , then so be it. 

          one of my FAVORITE songs ever that i love associating with bakugo because i absolutely think about this being a tribute to the villains from him. a slap in the face , a kick in the dick like “guess what assholes? you kidnapped me , you may have fucked with my mental health , but when i come back i’m gonna be even stronger , i’m not gonna let this tear me down!” type of deal.

          in the same breath though , i doubt bakugo would want to be compared to a survivor , because that would imply that the kidnapping & near death experiences he endured have affected him in some way & while it absolutely , definitely has , he wouldn’t want people to know that. he hates being pitied & he hates people worrying about him , for more reasons than one , so while he is a survivor , & he’ll never stop working towards his dreams no matter what the world throws at him , he wouldn’t want to necessarily be associated with the word. 

          this song is definitely more of a rallying song , something like when the going gets tough , when your opposition tries to get into your head , into your heart , & make you doubt yourself and your abilities , you don’t listen to them & rise back up to the top where you belong! i definitely hear this song as another battle cry towards the villains , not just from bakugo , but from the entire student body at u.a.
