Little Tips about Eclipse Seasons
(May be obvious to many, but as a Scorpio lagna, it took me time to make peace with my weird needs and experiences, so everything is a discover til today)
If you're in doubt about it, don't do it
If it demands a lot - even if it looks simple and everyone is doing it - don't do it. Let it be. You need to save your energy.
Wait a little to start projects
Maybe it's nice to start some energy treatment (I'm back to mine, hopefully before Oct. 25th).
Stick only to your routine obligations.
Dedicate free time to recharge as much as you can - and in ways as silly/simple as can be.
Journaling, Pranayama, prayer, abdominal breathing, mantra chanting/listeing, Abhyanga/massage with oils according to your Ayurveda constitution, etc.
When in doubt, choose the activity that brings you more SILENCE
Relaxing and recharging, clearing your thoughts and vision is more urgent than having fun and socializing. Just for a while, ok?
Again, my experience:
Water placements (specially Scorpio), 8th house and 12th house placements:
If neglected, come back to spiritual practices you used to do.
It's never too late God is always eager to help.
Also, unless you have a very strong Pitta in your constitution, go slow with physical exercise. Priotize calming your mind.
Save energy by not overextending your body
nor your attention to intrusive thoughts and fantasies.
Tumblr media
See how it looks like a very famous and feared insect?
"Scorpio is the structure of the nadis and the pran movement in them." - Tejaswini Arvind Patil here, and that's why it was so helpful to learn how to deal with my nervous system/energy (highly associated to Jyeshta, my ascendant nakshatra).
This next one is maybe the most important, and applies to everyone of any placements (not only in ecipse seasons, but mainly during them):
Limit your exposure to the collective mind
News, social media, gossip pretending to be important commentary, etc.
What looks so rational and urgent is a net of emotions unchecked, eager for hosts and sources of energy.
Exercise your faith when you need to look at social events and news
Remember God never fails and exerts control over the most difficult things in life.
Remember God always means well and works by yourside.
Evil is as strong as our minds (our free will) allows it to be.
Avoid enemeshing yourself with the collective...
...by identifying yourself with social events = emotionally reacting to them.
This is your ego masking as organic emotion.
It starts with classifying the event: 'good', 'bad', 'unaceptable', 'disgusting', 'life-changing', 'life-saving'.
The ego demands a position - what it's incredibly arrogant. Who are you to know? Who are any of us to know for sure?
Even specialists admit to know little and refrain from manifesting emotions around historical or social events.
Labels and emotions are not solutions, but displays of virtue that your ego demands from you (and creates them itself) in order to convince you that it IS you and it IS good...
...so you keep being a slave of coping mechanisms and racing thoughts disguised as reason and morality.
Be humble:
Silence you mind when approaching reality
Save energy:
Your attention and emotions are preserved by humbling yourself to reality and refraining from labeling it.
Use this energy to exert your free will:
Use your imagination to conceive concrete things that bring you pleasure/joy
Use your conscious mind to execute these plans relentlessly in the present time.
These are what the mind is for. It should serve your birth right to cocreate reality with God.
Not to deny it or override it, not to defend yourself from it.
And finally:
If no one is doing it, or you feel like no one is doing it,
Remember I'm rooting for you.
Whoever you are - and whomever I am,
I deeply believe you can make all your dreams come true
and overcome anything in your way,
no matter how big it looks (today)
May God bless you all.

Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts no more fears Tomorrow is my turn When my luck is returning All these years I've been learning to save fingers from burning Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts no more fears Tomorrow is my turn to receive without giving Make life worth living Now it's my life I'm living My only concern for tomorrow is my turn

Uttara Bhadrapada & Revati: Psychic Insight, Time Travel & Dreams
In my last post about Punarvasu & Swati, I had briefly gone into their association with time travel but in my research since I have found that Pisces rashi (0-3 degress Purvabhadrapada, Uttarabhadrapada & Revati) is also connected to time travel, as well as with psychic powers and using these abilities to solve crimes, prevent disasters or save others. This is an important distinction because not everybody uses their paranormal/supernatural powers to do good necessarily.
The word spirituality has been so over used in the last decade or so that it has now kind of lost all meaning as most people don't understand it in its true sense of transcending the material but instead as a way to play around with crystals or tarot or astrology, engaging with these tools in the most shallow way possible and using it as a balm to remain in the loop of earthly attachment.
Some people are born with an inherent understanding of what it means to be connected to the spirit. Due to the way religion & belief are often structured, not all of these people will identify their own beliefs as spiritual ones but you've got to admit that some people are just naturally intuitive and capable of understanding things in a way that goes beyond education or any taught knowledge. What is intuition though? Is it just a profound inner knowing? Usually, it is a combination of several things, including observational skills, the ability to be perceptive and understand what lies beyond the surface, deduction etc. Intuition isn't always knowledge from the beyond but it can also refer to the ability to read a room or a person and be emotionally intelligent enough to behave accordingly.
I am by no means suggesting that all Pisces natives are this way. They are not. But I have noticed several Pisces natives possessing a heightened sense of perception & intuition. This is just water sign culture tbh and as you'll see in the post, also extends to other rashis/nakshatras.
Tumblr media
Derren Brown, the British magician & mentalist is a UBP Moon. He's a skeptic himself and has repeatedly said he does not possess any psychic powers but he's never really gone into his methods either. You could say that he has astute observational skills that makes his performances truly one of a kind but its pretty incredible to train yourself to do what he does; you can only build on the natural acumen you possess.
youtube
Tumblr media
The Sixth Sense is a pretty iconic film in the "child has visions" genre and it stars Haley Joel Osment, Revati sun & mercury as well as Bruce Willis who is UBP Sun
Bruce also starred in a movie (also directed by M Night Shyamalan) called Unbreakable where his character has psychometric powers.
Tumblr media
Psych is detective comedy drama series (very underrated imo) that features a guy who possesses eidetic memory and great observation skills and uses it to convince the police department he is a psychic.
James Roday Rodriguez who plays this character has Revati sun & mercury, Venus in Pisces (2 degree Purvabhadrapada )
Tumblr media
Patricia Arquette stars as a psychic medium in the show Medium (honestly the police department x psychic consultant is one of my fav tropes of 2000s television). She has a Revati stellium (sun, saturn & rahu) and UBP mercury and venus.
Tumblr media
Salma Hayek, UBP Moon, plays a psychic medium in House of Gucci (based on a true story)
Tumblr media
Devon Sawa who played the main character on Final Destination (he has premonitions and tries to help others avoid death) has Ketu in UBP
Tumblr media
Joan of Arc, UBP Moon went to King Charles at the age of 17 as she was guided by visions from the archangel Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine to help him save France from English domination. Convinced of her devotion and purity, Charles sent Joan, to the siege of Orléans as part of a relief army. After several military defeats in which Joan played a role, she was put on trial by Bishop Pierre Cauchon on accusations of heresy, which included blaspheming by wearing men's clothes, acting upon demonic visions, and refusing to submit her words and deeds to the judgment of the church. She was declared guilty and burned at the stake on 30 May 1431, aged about nineteen.
Tumblr media
Baffled is a movie about a race car driver who has psychic visions. He is played by Leonard Nimoy who has UBP Sun, Mercury in Revati (amatyakaraka) & Rahu and Swati Rising (Swati is a nakshatra that is associated with ESP but more on that later).
Tumblr media
The Dead Zone is about a man who wakes up from a 5yr coma and learns he has psychic abilities. Christopher Walken who plays this man has Revati sun & UBP mercury (being in a coma/waking up from sleep is also a very Pisces theme a la Sleeping Beauty)
Tumblr media
In Doctor Sleep, a sequel to The Shining, Ewan McGregor plays Danny Torrance (who has psychic abilities). He has UBP Sun
Tumblr media
Harry's ability to see things is kinda overlooked (in Goblet of Fire for instance when he makes those predictions in Trelawney's class). We know that he sees a lot of stuff due to his connection with the Dark Lord but still. Harry's intuition has saved his ass on more than one occasion. Daniel Radcliffe has UBP Moon.
Tumblr media
The Initiation of Sarah is a movie about a nice girl who is bullied by her sorority sisters and then unleashes her psychic powers to get even. Kay Lenz who plays her has Mars in Revati atmakaraka, UBP mercury (swati moon & rising)
Tumblr media
Nostradamus who had prophetic visions of the future (many of which have come true) had Rahu & Rising in UBP
This brings me to Pisces' connection to time travel because if you think about it having premonitions and making prophecies is tied to an ability to see into the future; you are mentally time travelling.
I have noticed that in several instances Pisces natives are cast in time-travel movies.
Tumblr media
Nathan Fillion who was in Firefly & Serenity (time travel series & movie) had UBP sun, Revati moon atmakaraka
Tumblr media
Bliss (2021) a movie about alternate realities accessed through drug induced hallucinations??? (i dont know for sure the plot is kinda dense) stars Salma Hayek, UBP Moon and Owen Wilson, Swati Moon with Saturn in Revati atmakaraka
Tumblr media
Predestination is a time travel movie starring Sarah Snook who has Revati moon & jupiter
Tumblr media
Joseph Gordon Levitt, UBP rising stars in the time-travel movie Looper as a hitman from the future who has to kill himself.
Tumblr media
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a movie about a girl who can travel through time, its directed by Mamoru Hosoda who has UBP Moon and Saturn
Tumblr media
La Jetee is an experimental French short film about a man who travels through time to understand the past/present/future of WW3. Its directed by Chris Marker who has Ketu in Revati
Pisces is kind of obviously connected to the story of Sleeping Beauty (I'll explore this more in a separate post) but I think Pisces and dreaming (not sleeping but dreaming) are also connected.
Tumblr media
Joseph Gordon Levitt, UBP Rising stars in Inception a movie about dream thieves essentially
Tumblr media
Werner Krauss, Ketu in Revati starred in The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari (1920) as a hypnotist who uses a somnambulist to commit murders.
Tumblr media
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep etc was made my Michel Gondry who has Venus in Revati amatyakaraka (he is also Punarvasu Rising but I'll discuss more in my post about Surrealism)
Tumblr media
Dreams (1990) is a movie by Akira Kurosawa and is based on 8 dreams he had. He is UBP Sun & Punarvasu Rising
Tumblr media
Dreams That Money Can Buy is a surrealist film about a guy who sells his dreams to others. Its directed by Hans Richter who has Revati Sun
Tumblr media
All of Miyazaki's movies have a dream-like quality and one is literally a dream (won't spoil by saying which one hehe). He is UBP Moon.
I have noticed many Shatabhisha natives be drawn to similar themes and tropes in their work.
Tumblr media
Dreamscape is a movie about a psychic who works for the President of America. Its directed by Joseph Ruben who is Shatabhisha Sun & Jupiter (he also has Venus in UBP) and stars Dennis Quaid (Punarvasu Moon) as the psychic.
Tumblr media
Firestarter is a movie about a child with psychic powers and stars Drew Barrymore who is Shatabhisha Sun & Punarvasu Moon
Tumblr media
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Shatabhisha Moon starred in The Ghost Whisperer as a person who can communicate with ghosts.
Tumblr media
Sissy Spacek starred in Carrie about a girl who has supernatural powers. She has Shatabhisha Moon
Tumblr media
Scott Bakula who starred in Quantum Leap, a TV series about a scientist stuck in time, has Shatabhisha Moon
I hope this post was interesting and informative, pls lmk if you have any other examples!!

(Disclaimer: this is my personal observation, take this like a grain of salt)
Those who have sidereal mercurial rashi in their natal placements when unevolved are too judgmental. The type of people who are too judgmental to the point where they feel perfect even though they have more flaws than the other person
(Looking directly at sidereal gemini and virgo specifically unevolved PUNARVASU and ARDA)
Anuradha men have anger issues
The unevolved dhanista women that I know personally are very thirsty for men's attention
Sidereal sagittarius men are generally womanizers
People with vimshottari nakshatra ketu are good at harnessing talents
Sidereal Leos are blind to their mistakes. After all, they don't know the word sorry
When it comes to transits, rahu and ketu (shadow planets) are the most reliable to observe when it comes to trends (in my personal opinion)
Rahu is represented by trends while ketu is past, The saying "History repeats itself" is connected to the rahu and ketu axis.
Although the sun is exalted in aries. Ashwini nakshatra men (first nakshatra in the lunar mansion) suffer when it comes to confidence. They don't know if it's too much or not enough.
If I compare the nakshatra arda to the quote, this is "work smart not hard".
shravana people naturally like to socialize even if they say they're quiet, they are the type who are quick when it comes to connecting with other people
Sidereal water signs are good at cultivating resentment, especially sidereal cancers, so maybe Mars is debilitated in that sign because, it takes a strong person to actually let go and that's the number one thing that sidereal cancers have a hard time with.
So maybe sidereal libra is infamous for the reputation that "tropical scorpios are great at transformation" maybe because of the resident nakshatra in sidereal libra. There is Chitra, Swati and Vishakha who are all about manipulating appearances and persona.
Example: Doja Cat and Eminem have a persona. The Era of Lady gaga in the FAME album.
Usually in the enemies I notice there is sun opposition moon synastry

Don’t Leave Me Alone
Pairing: Marcus Rashford x Black Reader
Words: 3.5k
Notes: ngl recent events have made me not even want to post but i already had this done and as i said, i do value that ppl like my writing enough to send requests. so here is this! hope u like it anon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They'd picked the summer time to move in, late May to be exact, and Marcus was sure it was the smartest decision he’d ever been a part of. The prem season was ended, Y/N was out for the semester, they both had at least five weeks free to travel and relax, and there’d be no cold for the mover’s fingers to go blue in. The transporting itself had gone smoothly, each of her things finding its place in the huge expanse of his house, and the past month and a half of eating, sleeping and waking next to each other had been as nearest to perfect as Marcus thought life might get. So he couldn’t explain what, in the last seven days, could have possibly gone wrong.
“Is everythin alright, love?” He asked over the dinner table, which was sanded wood and brought over from Y/N’s apartment, much smaller than the one he’d used before.
She looked up from her plate and blinked. “Do you mean about dinner? I think I finally got the potatoes right this time, yeah.”
“No, not the food.” The side of his mouth lifted. “You’ve just seemed a bit down, this week, I don’t know. Just wanted to ask, see if there was anythin buggin you?”
“Oh,” She passed a hand over her hair. “Just tired, I guess. It was a rough semester.”
“Yeah, it was – you smashed it, though. But,” He paused until she looked at him, and was immediately taken by her brown eyes, which, unreadable as they were, he’d always found incredibly beautiful. “If anything’s wrong, you can tell me. I’d want to help.”
“Mhm.” She replied, and flitted her eyes away, pushing up from the table. “Let’s clean up?”
He nodded, though he wasn’t convinced, and stood up to take their few dishes to the kitchen. They rinsed and loaded in a silence not as comfortable as it ought to have been, and soon finished, Y/N pausing in front of the rumbling machine. From behind, Marcus pulled her into an embrace, fitting his hands around her waist and mumbling into her neck.
“Wanna come cuddle wi’me for a bit? We can watch the next Narcos.”
He felt her take a deep breath, and then lightly pat the hand that held her.
“I’ve got a little headache, actually. Think m’gonna lay down for the night.”
Marcus frowned. “You want me to watch the next episode? Without you?”
“Yeah, go ahead – I’ll get caught up when you’re on your trip next week. I’d just really like to lay down.”
Fatigue colored her voice, and Marcus felt a little more sure that she really was just under the weather, and not anything worse.
“D’you want me to bring you tea? Water? Medicine?”
She shook her head “no”, and turned around, another sigh hitting the fabric of his t-shirt.
“S’alright, then. Hope you get feeling better, babe.” He leaned in, pressed a kiss to her forehead, and then two to the dark spirals of her hair. “I’ll be up in a bit. I love you.”
A near silent “thank you” left her lips, and she squeezed his hand once. And then Marcus was left in the kitchen alone.
~~
After a mild pre-season session the next day, Marcus skipped showering to go straight to his car. When he’d seen her that morning, Y/N had still seemed poorly – she hadn’t left bed for tea and breakfast with him, and no silly texts or memes had come into his phone, the way they usually did during his long hours of training. Leaving now, he'd felt a strange, strong urge to get to her, like the sooner he did, the sooner things would go back to normal.
When he keyed into the house, however, her usual lounging spot – in the center of the living room sectional – was empty. As were the kitchen, bedroom, gym and laundry room that he walked to after. He found her instead on the back patio, cuddled into herself on the sunbed, with her curls spread wild and loose about her shoulders. A book was opened up and settled on her knees, and a pile of crumpled tissues sat just to her right.
“Hey, was lookin for you.”
The jitters that assailed him finally began to slow as he approached her, but didn’t fade completely.
“What’s all these for? You wasn’t crying, were you?”
“No, no, not really. It’s just this book. It’s pretty sad.” She tried to laugh at herself, but the sound came out wet and dull. “Or maybe I’m just dramatic.”
A range of emotions swept over him as he considered her pink, puffy eyes, the way she still wouldn’t hold his gaze for too long. His anxiety flared again, but he continued on with the plan he’d devised in the car, hopeful that it might still work.
“Well, I’m just about to run a bath, didn’t have time to shower after training. It could cheer you up, maybe. Did you wanna join me?”
It’s something special they do, just for them, a quiet and closeness involved that Marcus enjoyed far more than he’d ever said aloud. He hoped it would be enough to break through the wall he felt sprouting between them.
“But you’re all sweaty.” She said flatly.
He sucked his teeth, and sat alongside her on the thin mattress.
“That never stopped you before? When we were squeezed up in the one at your flat.”
“Right.” Her face fell, suddenly, as if she’d remembered something unpleasant. “But I’ve already showered, actually, a bit ago. Went out for a run.”
“That never stopped you before, either” Marcus wanted to say but didn’t, and focused instead on fixing his face to not reveal his disappointment.
“Okay.” He stalled a moment, weighing his next move. “Babe, are you sure everything is okay with you? M’a bit worried–”
“It’s fine, Marcus. It’s going to be fine, just …” She closed her eyes, and they glistened when they opened, focused seriously on his own. “I’m fine. Just stop pushing it, please.”
She gathered her book and trash and walked back into the house, which hurt him, but her last sentences hurt worse. If he wasn't meant to push, then what could he do? Sitting back and watching her pull further and further away from him was tortuous and seemed the opposite of what a good partner should do. Still, he nodded, even though she had already gone, and let his head fall into his hands.
A few hours later, in the bath, the jacuzzi jets going but alone, nothing was as it should have been. Already he missed the slide of her wet skin against his, how the brown of it went faintly pink the hotter she ran the water, which was scalding enough by Marcus’ standards. Now it felt lukewarm at best, the bubbles even less fluorescent, less bubbly than usual, without her there to scoop handfuls of them to paste on his face and chest, making herself giggle and cleaning their bodies in the process. He missed that, too, he realized, her body – it’s softness and strength, and how easily it yielded and came alive under his hands, but more concerning was her mind, which was somewhere outside its optimal state, and seemingly getting worse by the day.
He leaned his head back against the tub’s edge and sighed. It was a soft sound, quickly lost among the hum of the jets and the noise of his muscles singing and thanking him, but then he heard something else. Crying. Quiet, choked-off sobs from the other side of the en suite door, that he knew Y/N was trying to hide, but didn’t know why. The sound alone carved a hole deeper in his chest.
Before he realized it, he’d risen from the bath, shampoo still in his hair, and pushed open the door to their bedroom.
Squinting through the dark, Marcus could tell she was in the bed, asleep, or at least pretending to be. He debated whether or not to wake her – his every instinct begged him to, but the noise of tears had stopped, and he’d been specifically, harshly instructed not to “push”.
He waited several moments anyway, eyeing her sleeping form, burning up inside, but when she didn’t budge, he stepped back into the bathroom, mindful of the growing puddle he’d created on the carpet.
Under the shower head, he rinsed his hair and dried off, putting on his lotion and moisturizer in record time, all the while his mind racing, trying to settle the unease twisting up his chest and throat. When he got to the bedroom, he set his alarm and settled in under the covers behind her, as close as he dared.
Though her breaths came and went evenly, something in him, maybe something of his own creation, told him she was awake, that she could hear him. He felt free to unburden himself, and say what he wanted her to know.
“M’here for you, Y/N.” He used one arm to hold her against his chest, and the other to fix her hair scarf where it had ridden up in the back. “Hope you know that. Whatever it is, we can … fix it, talk about it, at least, together. Love you ... don’t wanna lose you.”
He knew the words were true, and could feel their sincerity aching somewhere deep in his bones. But he feared he was running out of ways to make sure Y/N believed it, too.
~~
By the following day, Marcus decided “not pushing” was no longer a viable option. Y/N was gone from bed even before him, and he turned to his night-table to find a message saying she’d gone out for an early run again and to get coffee. It wasn’t a strange occurrence on its own, but the way the last few days had gone, weeks really, this latest change to their patterns was enough to set him on a nervous edge. All through the day, his head was gone, drifting and distracted while training, and his thoughts sprinting to the worst - Y/N wanted to move out, she wanted to break up with him – in any moment he had idle.
But when his third check-in text sent from the rain-wet bed of the physio suite went unanswered, as did the two facetime call requests, it became slightly harder for him to breathe. The PT scrunched his face, but Marcus didn’t explain, wasn’t sure he’d be able to speak if he tried, and he’d been forced through two rounds of deep breathing before he’d let him off the table.
As soon as the gaffer released them, Marcus raced home through the rain that had begun to pour, calling one more time to no avail, but trying to stay rational. He imagined her sat in her spot on the big sofa in the sitting room when he arrived, apologetic and with some perfectly logical story of what had kept her from her phone all day, and what had depressed her mood the past few weeks.
He opened the front door, however, to silence, and her car keys still gone. His stomach dropped, and an icy, despairing prickle crawled over his skin. Was he overreacting? Or should he have pushed more?
Somehow he knew the rest of the house and even the back porch would be empty, just as silent, and found himself climbing the stairs anyway. His legs stopped by the room he used as his office, and he threw himself into the desk chair. He felt more calm, serious in there, for some reason, and composed himself enough to check her location, which was inconclusive, and click her contact another time. It went to voicemail once again, and he cursed, pulling at his hair.
After one heavy, frantic beat, he picked up the phone again to dial the only other number that would be useful at a time like this. The call picked up on the second ring.
“Mum?”
~~
Marcus’ car had been in the driveway when you pulled up, but when you stepped into his house – your house, now – there wasn’t any trace of him. Late afternoon training usually left him in the kitchen or theater room, scarfing down whatever meals his nutritionist prepared before conking out in his-your bed for a few hours until dinner.
You checked your phone, which had been dead up until the last five minutes when you’d connected it to the car charger, and realized it was closer to dinner time than you’d thought.
Dropping off your raincoat and bag, you went in search of him. The blaring missed calls and texts deserved a response, as hard as it would be to face him in person. You didn’t want him to worry any more than he already did, even though you felt there was little, if anything, he could do.
“Marcus?” You called up the stairs, but there was only your footsteps, the patter of rain, in answer.
You began climbing anyway, sure the sounds of the house would lead you to him, and eventually heard his voice, muffled through the closed door of his office. You stopped, and leaned against the wall to listen.
“She won’t talk to me, mum, she won’t, I’ve tried everythin. She’s not physically hurt, no, but something is wrong. I know that much. It’s like she don’t even want to be around me.”
There was a pause, and an ache began in your chest. The distress in your partner’s voice was palpable.
“But I’ve gave her space. And I’ve even asked her up front what’s wrong, and still nothin. I'm leavin for my trip in a few days, and I won’t be able to fix anythin from there. Reckon she might even be gone by then.”
Each second you listened, you fell further and further into the mire of guilt, and it seemed impossible to get out. Some external force, whose name or origin you didn’t know, forced your hand onto the knob and pushed into the room.
You met his eyes, cautious, but found nothing but relief, unshed tears in them.
“Y/N. Baby.” His voice cracked around the words, and he flew to your side of the room, crushing you to his body, burying his face in your damp hair.
“Are you hurt? Are you okay? Where were you?”
You tried, but couldn't speak around the lump in your throat. All you wanted was for him to hold you again, and to apologize for everything.
“Y/N. You’ve gotta talk to me, please. M’goin mad here, I’ve been goin mad–”
“I’m okay, Marcus. I’m not hurt.” You squeezed at his hands, trying to loosen their tight grip around your back and also trying to ground him. “Went for my run and coffee like I said, and then around to visit my mates at my old flat. My phone died, and I didn’t realize. I should’ve known you would worry.”
He looked back at you with wide eyes still, nodding slow like it was taking serious effort to comprehend the words leaving your mouth.
“I’m okay, baby. I promise.”
When he finally spoke, his voice was gravelly, but much quieter, and none of the terror gone from it.
“Y/N, look, know you asked me not to push, but I can't just do nothin while–”
“Wait, Marcus – can we sit and do this? Please. And you’ve gotta get out of this jacket, babe, it’s soaked. You’ll catch a cold.”
The familiar sound of your fussing seemed to center him further, and he slid the jacket off, settling stiffly on the futon along the opposite wall. His legs were spread wide, and he raised his hands to his knees, fingers digging into them.
Hesitantly, you followed, standing between his legs, watching his eyes, which you’d missed, and his lips, which you’d possibly missed even more. You paused before lowering yourself onto his knee.
“Is this okay?”
“‘Course” He breathed out, pulling you the rest of the way down and rubbing his hands gently up and down your back. It was the first moment you’d felt at ease in the last two weeks, and you took the time to just hug him, wiping at a drop of water puddled along his hairline. Gradually, everything that had been pent-up seemed much easier to face.
“I’ve been real distant the past weeks, haven’t I.”
“Yeah.”
“It’s cause I’ve been confused.”
“Confused about what?”
The intensity of his eyes suddenly became too much, and you pressed your cheek against his shoulder. You made sure your voice still reached him clear.
“Confused about my feelings. About us, about us living together.”
His stomach had gone cold with dread again, but you took the silence as a license to continue. You knew he would stop you if and when he’d heard enough.
“It’s been great, it really has, Marcus. You’re my favorite person to be around – you know that.” His insides smiled at the mention, since the past week had convinced him of the opposite. Still, his expression remained the same.
“And you seemed so happy, having me here. But sometimes, lately, it got — I don’t know, overwhelming? Like, I had my friends in my last flat with me, and it feels like I spend so much time here alone. When you’re here, I don’t feel like that, but that don't feel fair to you either.”
He bit his lip. “I don’t understand.”
“I know, it’s confusing, but it’s like, I’m used to my roommates, us all together, a lot of noise – even when you’re alone you’re not really alone. So whenever you get here, I want to recreate that, spend every second with you, if I can. Didn’t want you to think I was clinging, though? ‘Cause I know how that feels, too.” You paused to take a breath, and Marcus rubbed your back, silent encouragement to continue.
“Thought you should be able to come home and spend your time on your own, too, if that’s what you wanted. So I was moping, but trying to give you that, for a while. Thought that if I could give you some space until your trip next week, I’d be okay. I could use that week to get myself together, stop being ungrateful. ‘Cause I am so lucky, aren’t I? To be able to live with this person I love so much. But I guess I only made it worse.”
“So it’s findin a balance, then, that was hard. Findin ... where you and I, personal time ends, and where “us” time begins.” Marcus summarized.
There was an unspoken “Why didn’t you just say so?” at the back of his statement that your partner was too kind and too patient to say. But you deserved it, so you said it yourself.
“Exactly. But I should have told you that it was eating me up. Not tried to isolate myself, or shut you out. And I’m sorry, about that. ”
Marcus let the apology ring out, and laced the fingers of one of your hands together, a quiet absolution. You felt lighter, now, after having spoken your piece, but knew that didn’t mean the conservation was over.
“Don’t think I need to say I forgive you, because,” He leaned his chin into his palm thoughtfully, before looking up at you. “Because I really get it, you know. I do. I understand that you need your own space, to feel like your own person still. And also that I’m gone, and it’s just you here, a lot, which is new for you. I get that it’s overwhelming, that findin the balance bit. But– I’ve never done this, moved in with someone before, either, have I? It’s excitin, but it’s a lot of other emotions, too. You can’t assume how m’feeling, or how I want to spend my time, just like I can’t read your mind about what's got you upset, innit?”
He paused.
“And it’s like, we’ve gotta figure it out together, don’t we?”
You nodded.
“So when -if, you’re feelin like that again, you’ll tell me? Even if you think it’ll hurt my feelings, or whatever. And if you need to go spend extra time with your mates to feel alright, we’ll sort it. And I’ll do the same. Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
"You promise?"
You promised, wrapping your arms around his shoulders, and chin against his head. With the most difficult part of the conversation over, your senses opened up enough beyond Marcus to notice that the sound of rain outside had ceased. The wet, grassy smell of his training kit finally entered your nose, and your good humor began to stretch its legs.
“So I don’t need to go pack my things?” You mumbled into his shoulder.
“No.” Marcus snorted. “Not unless you changed your mind the last 15 seconds.”
“Nah, I reckon I’ll stay. I'd miss the jacuzzi tub too much.” You sighed. “Saying no to that bath with you was the hardest thing I ever done.”
Marcus chuckled, enough air in his chest to do so now, and kissed you lightly on the lips.
“Fancy one now?” He repeated, and your “please” was fast and enthusiastic. He scooped you in his arms, and you held tight to him, murmuring quiet “I love you”s and knowing as you walked through the house –your house– that you were exactly where you were meant to be.
My parents are in town and we went to see a friend of mine from college who is a rare books librarian and found a medieval xtian text bound in fragments of Talmud. With my parents we were able to identify the text and guess at some historical possibilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Latin book is printed on paper, dated circa the 1480s, but the Hebrew text is handwritten on vellum and estimated at least 100 years earlier. By being used for scrap it may have escaped burning.
The text is this: https://www.sefaria.org/Yoma.68b.7
It's Talmud but formatted not how we learn that Talmud is formatted, because it's earlier than that convention.
My mother, whose Master's is on medieval Hebrew manuscripts, identified the writing as Ashkenazic. The printed book is from Ulm, so that makes sense, although she didn’t feel it would be unreasonable to find a Sephardic handwriting in that time and place. The only part I could read in the pictures my friend originally texted me was the mishnah, but in person my mother was able to read a lot more and we were able to follow the Talmud text as she was reading from the manuscript and I was reading on Sefaria.
I find the content of the fragment particularly touching, in this context. It's a description of the practices of Yom Kippur, but it's more than that:
In the Torah, the practices of Yom Kippur are laid out as they would be observed by a nomadic people with a centralized sacrificial system. In the Mishnah, they're recording the to-them-modern evolution of those practices as a people who settled in a certain location and built a large central temple in their biggest city to house the sacrificial system--but as they're writing it, the sacrificial system is coexisting with the system of verbal liturgical prayer, and they're encoding these practices in part to avoid losing them. That account would have been edited into cohesion in the 3rd century CE, at a time when they were facing the anxiety that their cultural practices might soon be lost.
The Talmud then takes the Mishnah and seeks to explain it, meaning that by the 5th-6th century they were again worried that comprehension of the Mishnah, where they recorded their interpretations of the earlier practices, might now be lost. In the Talmud they take the Mishnah line by line and discourse about it, and record the conversations they had including not only how to-them-modern people should be observing Yom Kippur, now in the full absence of any centralized system OR sacrificial worship at all, but also filling in the blanks of what the Mishnaic rabbis might have taken for granted about the worship they described, lest that information might soon be lost.
The medieval scribe who wrote the fragment we saw today might have been writing at a time when the most honored commentators on Torah and Talmud had living grandchildren. That scribe wrote out the text of the Talmud by hand, first the Mishnaic account of their soon-to-be-lost evolution of the lost Biblical practices, then the Talmudic description of their then-current practices and attempts to understand the lost Mishnaic practices, but already the commentaries of Rashi had been written, in 12th-century France, in which Rashi attempted to understand the Talmudic and Mishnaic and biblical descriptions, and filled in the blanks as he understood them, so that his readers would be able to envision the lost Talmudic practices. He wrote in Hebrew, because he was distributing his commentaries not just within France but around the Jewish world: there's evidence of Rashi's work being read in Yemen within the 12th century.
When the printing press was developed, the layout of a Talmud page that we take for granted today was encoded. It was developed so as to protect the texts on the page from water damage in order of priority: the Talmudic text in the center of the page, Rashi's commentaries next to the binding, his grandchildren's and later medieval commentators on the outside of the page, at greatest risk. This is in order of perceived sacredness: Rashi's commentary was by that point accepted as having a degree of importance that set it apart from other commentary
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talmud#/media/File:Labeled_talmud.png Here's an annotated page of Talmud identifying the parts of the page that's understood as standard to this day. Many publications of this also include more recent commentary of a variety of eras and nationalities.
And this past September, this book came out, after more than a decade in progress. https://global.oup.com/academic/product/the-oxford-annotated-mishnah-9780192846143?cc=us&lang=en&#
Tumblr media
They only covered the Mishnah, not the entire Talmud, in that time, despite having three editors and several other translators and commentators involved.
Looked at from where I stood this afternoon, touching that sliced-up fragment of vellum, and realizing that the function of this new translation is to make the same text--the same text--understandable to us, now, lest comprehension be lost, or looked at otherwise, because turning it and turning it, turning it over and over to look at more facets and turning it over to the next generation and the next, that's what we do, that's what we're for, that's what this living culture is. And there's a tremendous sense of holiness, then, to witness that fragment, cut up and bound into the flyleaves of a Christian text but still legible to someone who knows how to read it.
And yet.
I'm generally comfortable reading texts in Hebrew writing on parchment but I struggled with the handwriting. My mother could read it, with difficulty, because she got a Master's in it; my friend asked her how long ago and she pointed at me and said "that long ago." I'm almost 40.
The knowledge ebbs and flows in and out of any of us.
It's no rarity to see older books cut up and reused to bind others in the 14th century, when the Xtian book of sermon ideas was printed. But for a Talmud text from that time to survive is rare indeed. And it's rare to me to have a friend reach out with questions just the weekend before my parents happen to be visiting and when we have the time to drive over and look at it in person and read from it out loud and translate it with the help of the same text, preserved, in an app on my phone.
PHARAOH'S GOTTA GO
In this week’s Torah portion, Vaera, God speaks to Moses and says “Go and tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites depart from his land.” (Ex. 6:11) God further specifies, “Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is coming out to the water….” (Ex. 7:15). According to Rashi, “coming out to the water” means relieving himself. But surely the all-powerful ruler of Egypt could use a golden commode in his own palace. Why go out to the river to do his business?
Pharaoh claimed to be a god, and gods don’t go to the bathroom. To prevent his courtiers from finding out that he was a mere human, Pharaoh left the palace to relieve himself every morning. It was a way to keep the grift going. God sent Moses to approach Pharaoh at the very moment that revealed him for the mortal and the liar that he was. After cruelly oppressing the Jews, Pharaoh was brought low by ten plagues, and the epic humiliation started when Moses caught him in an all-too-human moment by the Nile.
This might be a weird pairing, but can I ask for Jude/Marcus ficlet?❤️ I don't know if you saw the last england video with Dec and Madders, they were so funny. Maybe something fluffy and them bantering each other? Thank you if you take it!
jude bellingham/marcus rashford | new love ♡
As the morning training session wraps up at St. George's Park, most of the squad rush to the changing rooms, keen for some downtime.
Jude, however, with the ever-infectious enthusiasm of youth, stays to practice his finishing in front of net, scoring effortlessly over and over.
"Oi Rashy, bet you can't do this."
He shouts cheekily over at Marcus as he makes a point of taking his shot without looking. Marcus just shakes his head, a small smile playing on his lips as the ball slots into the top-right corner.
"You're such a show-off." He teases as Jude grins back over at him, his eyes lit up in the way they always are when there's a ball at his feet.
“Just trying to impress someone.”
Jude winks, his voice dropping to a playful whisper meant only for Marcus as he shrugs.
Dec, passing by and forever keen to hone-in on some banter, comments through a cackle, "Impress Gareth, you mean? Good on you, Jude."
Madders, following closely behind Dec, smirks, "Leave the lovebirds be, mate. We’ve got a game to prep for."
Jude's cheeks flush slightly, but he laughs it off like he always does, making a playful jab at Madders. Marcus, however, remains stoic, a fortress of calm, but Jude notices the hint of a blush on his cheeks.
As the group disperses, Jude takes a bold step, pulling Marcus to the side.
"You alright?” He asks more quietly, genuine concern in his eyes. He knows everything is very new between them and that it'll take some getting used to. Especially the banter from the other lads.
Marcus sighs, the weight of the new feelings and their uncharted relationship pressing on him, "It's just... new, Jude. All of this. I've always been more... private about how I feel. Even with my mates."
Jude smiles softly, reaching out to gently cup Marcus' face.
“I know, and that’s okay. But you don’t have to hide from me.”
Marcus leans into the touch, relishing in the warmth.
“I’m not used to someone caring this much.” He admits almost solemnly.
“Well, you better get used to it,” Jude teases then, the playful gleam back in his eyes, "I don't plan on going anywhere soon."
The two share a grin between them, the moment intimate and light. But as they make their way back to the locker rooms, Marcus’s phone vibrates with a message. Glancing at it, he can't help but chuckle. It's Dec.
“You’ve got a keeper, mate. I'm happy for the two of you.”
Marcus thinks it's a nice sentiment, even if the message is followed by a variety of suggestive emojis in true Dec style.
Jude unashamedly peeks over Marcus's shoulder to read what it says, “Dec’s got a point, you know.”
Marcus rolls his eyes, though his smile gives away his amusement, “Oh, so now you’re teaming up with Dec?”
Jude just smirks, pulling Marcus into a playful headlock, “Always good to have backup!”
-
The next day at training, the playful banter continues.
Madders is the key culprit, cheekily passing comments whenever Marcus takes a shot, "Trying to show off for Jude, eh?" or when Jude's busy chatting to one of the other lads, "Look at that! Marcus, you've got competition!"
But despite the jests and teases, it's clear to everyone that the bond between Jude and Marcus was only growing stronger and wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.
-
Before their first game of the international break, Marcus, feeling particularly daring, pulls Jude close.
“For luck,” He whispers, planting a soft kiss on Jude’s forehead. Jude looks pleasantly surprised but recovers quickly, testing the waters, “You’ll need more than that to last the match.”
Marcus chuckles, the sound deep and genuine, “You might be right.”
Jude, with a teasing smile, stands up from the bench to plant a quick peck on Marcus's lips. “There, now you’re set.”
Dec, who'd caught their interaction despite the bustle of the changing room, raises an eyebrow from a distance.
“Think we’ll win today,” He tells Madders.
Madders just smirks as he pulls on his socks, “With that kind of morale boost? Absolutely.”
And the two of them share a knowing glance, silently cheering on their two friends as they watch their hands tangle tightly together.
A delve into ancient scriptures over the astrological studies we're doing today. I take the time to reveal what the Greeks and the Jyotish had to say over the 12th zodiac. Curious?
We all know Pisces is a mutable, water sign ruled by Jupiter. Signifying unconditoonal love and abundant compassion, as it's the exalted domain of Venus. Yet what else could be shared about on this in-depth?
A 2nd century hellenistic astrologer, Vettius Valens, based in Alexandra, penned down his research over the dual signed constellation. "Pisces is the celestial sign which is feminine, moist, quite wet, bicorporeal, with many offspring, mossy, scaley, sinewy, humpbacked, leprous, two-formed, mute, motile, with rough skin, in conflict with itself because one Fish is northern, the other southern. It is moist, downward-trending, servile, changeable, with many offspring, bicorporeal, sociable/lewd, with some limbs missing, the cause of wandering, varied."
"Men born under this sign are unsteady, unreliable, changing from bad fortune to good, sexy, theivish, shameless, prolific, popular."
"As a whole, Pisces is cool and breezy. By parts it is as follows: the first parts are temperate, the middle moist, the last destructive and worthless. It has…stars. In the north the rest of Andromeda rises with Pisces, as well as the rest of Perseus—the parts on the right—and Triangulum in Aries. In the south the head of the Southern Fish rises. Neptune, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter. In the south Ara and the rest of Hydra set <when Pisces is rising>; in the north, nothing."
Tumblr media
The Greeks and Romans had their own backstory for the fish constellation. Rather over what it ruled, lands and territory.
"Pisces lies toward the north wind. It also lies toward the zone of the Red Sea, having not a few islands under its control, above which lie India and the so-called Indian Ocean. In its eastern parts Pisces touches Parthia, the land of the Indies, and the Eastern Ocean; in its northern parts, Scythia. In its western parts it washes with its waves Myosormos, Orthosormos, and the surrounding cities."
"The following zones are subject to Pisces: to the front, the Euphrates and the Tigris; to the middle, Syria and the Red Sea, India, mid-Persis and the neighboring lands; to the tail, the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea, and the Borysthenes river; to the tie of the Northern Fish, Thrace; to that of the Southern Fish, Asia, Sardinia."
~ Now let's look over to India. What more could be divulged about Pisces? As they call it, Meena, sanskrit word meaning 'fish'. The BPSH narrates the primary traits of the water sign, deemed the birth sign of Goddess Lakshmi.
Meena resembles a pair of fish , one tailed with the head of the other.
This rashi is strong at night.
It is a watery Rashi and is predominant with Sattva-Guna (pure)
It denotes resoluteness and is a water-resorter.
It is footless and has a medium build.
It rules the North and rises with both head and back.
It is ruled by [Jupiter].
Another ancient text, Parashara, details piscean characteristics as follows:
They are very happy when they can spend their money to help others through charitable causes.
These persons are not steady .
They may change from one profession to another.
The married life of a Meena native is generally happy but they have a jealous nature."
"I Missed You Too."
Motoharu Igarashi x GN!Partner!Reader
Summary: Motoharu was gone on a business trip to Tokyo and because of this; you have been feeling lonely and missing him terribly. Sure you and him called and video chatted but you still missed him being there. Tonight's the night he comes home.
Staring at your alarm clock, the blaring numbers stare back at you. When you blinked, the time finally excelled one minute. Groaning in frustration, you sit up and leave your bedroom to get a glass of water in the kitchen.
"Igarashi should be coming home pretty soon..." You murmur, taking a sip of your water. Letting the cool liquid coat your throat. Placing the now empty glass in the sink you take yourself back to your shared bed... Alone.
Getting under the sheets and weighted blanket you try one more time in texting him:
"Are you-" you stopped your fingers from typing, "Wait... Isn't he driving or taking an Oober home??" You asked out loud, racking through your memories of the phonecall from yesterday morning. You let out a cry of frustration and toss your phone over towards Igarashi's side of the bed, the lack of sleep fueling your crankiness.
In the midst of your anger, you somehow managed to pass out during your little rolling fit. Wrapped like a burrito, angry and warm.
Igarashi unlocked the door of your shared apartment, jet lagged a bit. But he was sweaty and wanted no more than to bathe and cuddle up to his lovely lover. Dropping his keys into the bowl near the door, locking the door behind him and leaving his roll-on luggage by the door.
He sneaks quietly through his apartment heading up to his room. The door was wide open and he peeked in, he sees that the bed was a complete mess but that wasn't what had his attention. His eyes widened at the bundled up caterpillar on his bed, soft snores emitting from within.
Turning his head to laugh in his fist, he shook his head at how adorable you looked. A grumpy look screwed on your face just looked even cuter. "Ah, that could be a good book title: "My Adorable Partner Transforms into A Pouty Caterpillar but Only at Night." " Igarashi muses to himself. He hears you shuffle in the bed and turn over on your side, facing away from him.
His crinkle at the sides as he smiles at your sleeping form. Moving fast and quietly he gathers some pajamas and makes his way to the attached bathroom. Washing the hours and hours of the packed flight off his body, the warm water cascading down from his head and pooling around his feet.
After spending five minutes in the shower, Igarashi emerged from the bathroom, refreshed and clean for bed. Now here comes the hard part, getting into the bed without waking you...
Igarashi tries to unravel you from the blanket freezing ever so often when you would lightly stir. His patience was rewarded soon enough as he was able to unfurl the blanket from your body, he slides right in behind you. The sheets and blanket lightly tickling him, "Iga...rashi??" He hears you slur tiredly.
He kisses your temple, relishing in the softness of your hair touching his cheek. "I know, I know.. I missed you too, but right now. I just wanna fall asleep while cuddling you." He felt you relax right into his chest, tucking your head underneath his chin. Soon you fall back to sleep, making Igarashi chuckle and lightly tighten his hold around you.
Then he too soon fell asleep with a small tired smile on his face, " I'll be sure to make up for all this time that I've been gone." He makes one last mental promise before finally falling asleep.
AU Where Argyle was actually Billy’s first crush
He met Argyle at the beach near his house one summer at twelve years old. Neil never came to the beach with him, always at work, and Max was at the skate park most days during the summer. So Billy is alone, enjoying the waves and the sun. It’s his only freedom, and nobody questions a kid in a black rashie that covers his neck, his arms, his chest. Not when he’s riding waves on a board that he’ll start outgrowing real soon.
Argyle is the first kid to approach him on the beach, with his family. His older brothers are rougher than him, and he doesn’t have much in common with his sisters, so he just wanders. Of course, he’s amazed by little Billy’s surfing, having no knack for it himself and an avid fear of sharks that usually keeps him from going out so far.
Billy basically snobs him off the first day. Argyle wears braids and ponytails like a girl, and he talks funny, and he’s got chub and a round face with big lips that kids at Billy’s school would definitely pick on him for.
But Argyle keeps coming back to the beach to watch him, sometimes with family, sometimes without, and they strike up an unlikely friendship. Argyle is a nervous kid, talks a little too fast and shrieks when Billy makes bubbles in the water, convincing him it’ll draw in sharks to feast on him because he’s a brat who thinks it’s funny to torture his new friend.
Billy likes Argyle a bunch, and when school starts again, he’s upset that Argyle doesn’t go there to. He passes the beach every day after school, and every time, Argyle isn’t there. By the end of the fall, Billy forgets about his summer friendship. Argyle was probably only in California for a holiday.
But when the next summer comes around, Argyle is there to greet him with a ‘long time no see, amigo!’
Every summer, Billy goes to the beach to surf or swim and Argyle is always there, on the very first day. It’s like a ritual. When they’re both sixteen, Billy gets a summer job at the surf shed, and Argyle starts to smoke to calm his anxiety, so Billy and him share joints in the surf shed during Billy’s breaks, giggling and rambling about the universe the whole time.
Billy suspected he might be gay around his sixteenth birthday, but seeing Argyle again, this time in shades and smoke billowing around his features, he’s pretty damn sure he is. He doesn’t tell the guy, of course, but they definitely make out in Argyle’s new van from his part time pizza job in his last summer in California while high, because he knows his shitty dad is planning on moving them across the country real soon and he’s not gonna see Argyle next summer, or possibly even the summer after that.
The make out more than once while high, but Argyle never brings it up when the air clears, so neither does Billy. Not like he can entertain a relationship anyway, not with his dad, and not with the stupid fucking move to bumfuck nowhere. He doesn’t tell Argyle he won’t be back next summer. He doesn’t have the heart too.
Argyle comes to the beach everyday for two weeks before realizing Billy wasn’t coming back. It makes his plans on asking him out on a proper date fall flat, but he decides to find something else to entertain his time. So he joins a woodwork shop.
Argyle doesn’t have any friends, not since Billy left, but he thinks he might find a new one in Jonathan Byers. After all, his birdhouses are pretty neat, and he looks like he needs a smoke just as much as Billy did.
Revati's Mystery & Magic✨🐘🎭🌠
Revati is perhaps one of the most misunderstood nakshatras (although I'd say every nakshatra is misunderstood in one way or another because of how mainstream narratives about that nak focuses heavily on a few aspects and not others). Revati is the very last nakshatra and it lies entirely in watery Pisces rashi. It is also the concluding Mercury nakshatra. It is very interesting to me that the cycle of nakshatras begins in Ketu (Aswini) and ends in Mercury (Revati). Ketu is formless, it is the tail of the dragon and represents the subconscious realm or a state prior to the materialisation of spirit/form. Aswini is of course followed by Bharani nakshatra which is where creation takes root. The progression of nakshatras reveals a story about the development of humanity/civilization. It concludes in Mercury which is a eunuch/genderless planet and in the water rashi (the complete opposite of Aries which is a fire rashi). Once an individual has passed through all the previous stages, life concludes in water. (Proverbially life also began in water) and transcended beyond gender, concludes itself in a genderless planet, because someone who has integrated their masculine and feminine energies becomes unified; the true Androgyne.
Mercury represents the mind, both other Mercury nakshatras (Ashlesha & Jyeshta) belong to the rakshasa ("demonic") gana but as the concluding nakshatra, Revati belongs to deva ("godly") gana. All Mercury naks belong to water rashis (cancer, scorpio and pisces) however the fact that only Revati belongs to the Deva gana is very telling.
As the concluding nak, it represents how once an individual has gained mastery over everything, the only terrain left to conquer is themselves and their mind. We are all capable of both creation and destruction, just like water which is simultaneously life-sustaining but also capable of great catastrophes.
Revati has the largest yoni animal; the elephant. This refers to the immense capacity Revati possesses to hold within itself a diverse, vast and wide rage of skills, talents, knowledge and wisdom. The emotional reservoir runs deep.
The other Mercurial naks have the smallest yoni animals (cat & rat/rabbit) and restriction/limitation is a major theme through both those naks. However Revati is boundless and vast. It is NOT infinite however since water is very much a finite resource. Revati natives have a lot of energy and enthusiasm but they also feel drained and depleted after a point. This is in contrast to the infinite cosmic space and abundance possessed by Punarvasu or Swati; they simply NEVER run out of gas in their tank, they can give give give and not feel exhausted. This is a cosmic capacity given to a few. (I must add that both Punarvasu & Swati are also Deva gana nakshatras).
The word "Revati" in Sanskrit means "wealth" and while this manifests literally in the lives of many natives, it also points to spiritual wealth and the inner reservoir of these natives. Not coincidentally, many Revati natives experience extreme financial situations in their lives; usually following a very rags to riches path. Often times they are born into great wealth as well (as Claire Nakti's Nepo Baby research proved- Revati was the top nakshatra among them).
Those natives who grow up in dire circumstances are forced to cultivate other talents, skills, charisma etc that will later on help them build very abundant lives.
Revati has the cosmic purpose of "moksha" or "liberation" (the others being Artha, Kama & Dharma). When one has transcended all other previous stages, all there is left for one to do is seek Moksha.
Revati is said to be endowed with all 6 opulences beauty, wealth, fame, knowledge, strength and renunciation.
Revati natives have a certain natural flair for things, the combination of Revati's mercurial prowess with Pisces' Jupiter influence, endows these natives with an uncanny charisma and ability to read people/situations well and respond accordingly. Revati natives often have ✨presence✨there's usually a very ethereal, otherworldly charm to them; they do not seem to belong to this world, the rules dont seem to apply to them.
Obviously, they are often also naturally skilled at "manifestation" which is the art of creating your own reality. Jupiter's influence grants these gifts to a native.
One reason why they are so misunderstood is because they are so detached, they are kind of dreamy, kind of passive and distant. They are very self contained and this comes across as aloofness. They are by design unattached to things most people regard as precious; this is not because they are uncaring but because being the final nakshatra, they have surpassed all levels of pretense and value judgements; being misunderstood is hurtful but they can't stop being who they are.
They are eccentric, kinda offbeat and a little weird and they are largely detached from conventional society and trying to act "normal" in order to fit in.
A lot of people think they're crazy or weird and they are labelled as such but their madness is what makes them who they are.
One underrated aspect of Revatis is their geekiness tbh
Tumblr media
Cardi B, Revati Moon
Cardi was on an episode of Hot Ones recently and spoke about how much she loves reading about history and WW1&2 and she geeked out about visiting Roosevelt's house/office and how that was such a big moment for her.
Tumblr media
Angelina Jolie, Revati Moon
She has described herself as "I’m a closet foreign policy wonk. I’m a bit more boring than people would think… I’m a bit of a geek." and read any magazine interview of hers and you would know how well informed and educated she is about all the issues she puts her weight behind.
Tumblr media
Kim Taehyung, Revati Moon
He loves art and has a lot of seemingly random trivial knowledge about a lot of different things. He's very diversely talented and has lots of random interests.
He said this in an interview:
"I’m someone who just really loves watching movies. Whenever I do, I find myself naturally drawn more to the villain characters rather than the heroes. When you watch a film, you have to look at the big picture, or the forest for the trees. I think that villains play a very big role in making that overall picture complete; they really have to sell their own charisma to make the movie come to life. If the villain doesn’t really have depth to their character, or if there’s no chemistry between the characters, then the hero can’t really shine either. So I always end up watching the villain characters closely. I’ve told a lot of my friends and people around me that I now have this ambition to play a villain at least once."
A lot of Revatis express feelings of being misunderstood and empathising with villains seems to be a running theme among many Revati natives.
This is Angelina Jolie's 2015 speech when she won Best Villain at the Kids Choice Awards:
"When I was little, like Maleficent, I was told that I was different, and I felt out of place, and too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in. And then one day I realised something, something I hope you all realise. Different is good. So don’t fit in, don’t sit still, never try to be less than what you are, and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud. And as your villain, I would also say - cause a little trouble, it's good for you."
Revatis are not a monolith and this nak manifests very differently in people (also affected by the rest of their chart) but I've noticed how many famous Revatis have battled substance abuse and other mental health struggles. Ex: Heath Ledger (Revati Sun & Rising), Angelina Jolie (Revati Moon), Jamie Lee Curtis (Revati Moon), Kevin Spacey (Revati Moon), Jared Leto (Revati Moon) many Revatis have also experienced abuse either as children or from their partners, this again includes, Jolie, Rihanna (Revati Moon & Rising), Shakira (Revati Rising), Whitney Houston (Revati Moon), Tori Amos (Jupiter in Revati atmakaraka), Maya Angelou (Revati Sun conjunct Jupiter), Ashley Judd (Revati stellium), Marilyn Manson (Saturn in Revati atmakaraka)
The thing about abuse is that you live with a lot of shame and are made to feel "different" from others, most abusers try to paint their victims as the bad guy who deserves to be "punished", this does explain part of Revati's association with villains (they're made to feel like the villain).
Tumblr media
in her video Claire Nakti had explored how men who have played the Joker onscreen tend to have strong Revati placements, tying into how Revati is associated with the trickster archetype.
I think this has led to a lot of misunderstanding in the vedic community regarding the nature of Revatis.
Joker's origin story is that of a man who, while disguised as the criminal Red Hood, is pursued by Batman and falls into a vat of chemicals that bleaches his skin, colours his hair green and his lips red, and drives him insane.
It is a traumatic event/accident that drives Joker to the point of insanity and turns him into a psychopath. With that in mind, I'd already stated above how many Revatis seem to have suffered abuse in their lives (unfortunately) but I feel like especially among Revati men, suffering from abuse/experiencing trauma makes them more prone to being evil whereas it usually makes a Revati women more empathetic, kind and caring.
I'll use Jeffrey Dahmer (Revati Moon) as an example. He was largely neglected as a child as a consequence of which he had abandonment issues. Obviously not everyone who's neglected and abandoned grows up to be a serial killer & a cannibal but I feel like more often than not, Revati men are susceptible to the nakshatras darkness and instead of trauma being something that acts as a vehicle for radical personal change, they tend to be cruel and evil as a result of it.
Jeffrey Epstein, Kevin Spacey, Tony Robbins, Jared Leto (all Revati Moon) Alec Baldwin, Russell Crowe, and Steven Seagal (all Revati Sun) have all displayed varying degrees of cruel & evil behaviour.
Tumblr media
in the movie Maleficent, the titular character is not inherently villainous, bad or evil, she starts out as a regular gal and experiences horrific abuse, the trauma and pain of which makes her "villainous".
There is a very painful scene in the movie (spoiler alert!!) where Maleficent's wings are cut off by someone she considered a friend when she's in a drug induced slumber.
Angelina Jolie herself confirmed that the scene was a metaphor for rape.
"We were very conscious, the writer [Linda Woolverton] and I, that it was a metaphor for rape,' she explained of the act of violence that takes place as her character is in a drug-induced sleep. 'And that this would be the thing that would make her lose sight of that. While it is 'an extreme Disney, fun version of it', at its core, the film is about 'abuse, and how the abused then have a choice of abusing others or overcoming and remaining loving, open people'. 'The question was asked: "What could make a woman become so dark and lose all sense of her maternity, her womanhood and her softness?" Something would have to be so violent and aggressive.' [We] created a past for her that led to the moment in which she curses Aurora, then takes us past that moment from Maleficent's point of view,' she said."
This is not to say all Revati men are evil or unkind or that this nak manifests positively only for women.
Tumblr media
Ben Mendelson (Revati Sun) is an actor known for playing the bad guy in most of his films.
"I think you've gotta enjoy the bad guys, to a certain degree. Unless what they do is so terrible, I think you're supposed to enjoy the bad guys. Vincent Price was probably one of the most enjoyable and successful bad guy actors of all time. He was doing terrible stuff, but we enjoy watching it. To me, that sort of character is what you want to aim for. You want to be enjoyable for an audience. What happens when a bad guy is enjoyable is that the audience gets to be bad for a little moment, too, and that's nice. It's nice, within the confines of watching a film, to get to be the bad guy."
This is far more mature and healthy response from an evolved Revati native.
Tumblr media
A scene from Girl, Interrupted starring Revati Moon, Angelina Jolie
Sometimes Revati natives play into the shocking and weird nature that people expect from them. They often play a caricature of themselves but due to their inherent watery nature and expansive Pisces tendency, its hard for them to do this for long, so they do things people dont expect of them, further confusing their audience.
The nurturing aspect of Revatis are often overlooked. The fact that they're tricksters and jesters doesn't take away the fact that they're highly empathetic and kind. The brighter the star, the darker the shadow, Revati natives are some of the most naturally gifted people, be it their beauty, charisma, talent, personality etc, they are so naturally abundant. However one must understand that abundance does not exist in a vacuum, there is a downside to every blessing. Its wise to not dwell in it too much but one must recognize it.
Tumblr media
Rihanna (Revati Moon & Rising)
She's a singer, actor, businesswoman, billionaire, fashion icon and humanitarian and she's been doing al this since she was a teenager. Rihanna is a great example of the range of Revati in every regard, she's had her own fair share of pain, trauma, abuse and hurt but she's also a million other things.
Claire said in her video about Revati's hypersexual nature and fascination with sexual taboos. However I think Revatis have a very dual nature where they're either celibate and chaste or extremely indulgent.
In a 2003 interview, Angelina Jolie said this:
“I went for about two years with absolutely no man around me and then decided to get closer to men who were already very close friends of mine,” says Jolie, 28.
in a 2015 interview, Rihanna said this:
"I honestly think how much fun it would be to live my reputation,” she said. “People have this image of how wild and crazy I am, and I’m not everything they think of me. The reality is that the fame, the rumours — this picture means this, another picture means that — it really freaks me out. It made me back away from even wanting to attempt to date. It’s become second nature for me to just close that door and just be okay with that. I’m always concerned about whether people have good or bad intentions."
Rihanna, 27, is single and has not had a serious relationship since splitting with rapper Chris Brown, who assaulted her in 2009. She told Vanity Fair being famous had taken its toll on her love life, adding: “I mean I get horny, I’m human, I’m a woman, I want to have sex. But what am I going to do — just find the first random cute dude that I think is going to be a great ride for the night and then tomorrow I wake up feeling empty and hollow?I can’t do it to myself. I cannot. It has a little bit to do with fame and a lot to do with the woman that I am. And that saves me."
Revati natives radiate a very androgynous energy and have a highly integrated masculine & feminine nature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Angelina Jolie (Revati Moon)
Karina from Aespa (Revati Sun atmakaraka)
Tumblr media
Seonghwa from Ateez (Revati Sun & stellium)
Tumblr media
Kristen Stewart (Revati Sun amatyakaraka)
Naks that serve the cosmic purpose of Moksha (liberation) tend to make its natives very playful and suggestive. Its unsurprising that April Fools is during Revati’s season.
Revati individuals love to play the devil's advocate, they often like to be the contrarian purely for the heck of it. They live for the shock value and love to get reactions out of people.
Most of the time, its harmless, however of course, there are certain individuals who take it too far.
Tumblr media
(im sorry that this whole post heavily features AJ and a few others, its just that their lives are heavily publicized so there are more examples to draw from😔😬 a lot of Revatis are super private otherwise)
From kissing her brother, openly talking about her interest in BDSM, knife play and wearing her husband's blood in a vial around her neck, Miss Jolie is Revati's trickster energy at its peak.
Tumblr media
Rihanna has definitely earned the "bad gal riri" title for herself. In the late 2000s & early 2010s she drew a lot of flak for posing topless and nude, going back to the boyfriend who physically abused her and even releasing music with him in the face of public outcry, often showed up high out of her mind to events and shows and made many many controversial statements.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jennie's career has been mired in controversy from the day she debuted. She has Ketu in Revati. She posted this iconic picture during the height of her dating scandal which featured several personal pictures being leaked (or were they photoshopped?).
Tumblr media
Cardi B (Revati Moon) is always in the news, mired in one controversy or another, from her admitting to drugging and robbing men as a stripper, to throwing hands and mikes on people to plenty of other things, Cardi loves to shock people.
Tumblr media
Taehyung (Revati Moon) as Joker for Halloween many years ago.
Revati is the birth nakshatra of Saturn and the exaltation of Venus.
Pushan is Revati's deity and endows the natives with the shakti to "nourish and protect", these natives have a deep love for animals and children.
Pisces is ruled by Jupiter whereas Revati nakshatra is ruled by Mercury.
Revati is such an interesting and slightly unpredictable nak because of the combined energies of Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn & Venus. This can manifest as brilliance and giftedness or this can make an individual go astray into the darkness. Natural talent can make people lazy and arrogant.
Revati is also a Mridu nakshatras, noted for their 'soft, mild or tender' nature <333
This nakshatra belongs to the Shudra caste which is one of the lower castes.
Revati natives often feel like outcasts in group settings, like they don't belong and struggle with fitting in.
Their struggles can manifest as nihilism, make them cynics or turn them towards spirituality.
Revati has Kapha dosha which contributes to the sluggish nature of Revati natives. They have a frenetic energy but they're also a little slow and dazed if you observe them. This is the dreamy quality we associate with these natives.
Belonging to Pisces rashi, I feel like many Revati natives could fit the bill for ADHD and perhaps suffer from insomnia or narcolepsy.
Tumblr media
the movie Angel's Egg (1985) is a very Revati coded film
it was a collaboration between the artist Yoshitaka Amano and Mamoru Oshii.
Amano has UBP Sun, Revati Moon (and stellium, with Mercury & Jupiter, his amatyakaraka and atmakaraka respectively).
I dont want to spoil the movie because its a dialogue less vibey 1 hour animated masterpiece.
The art that Revati natives make are very disorienting and confusing for others although they're perfectly sensible to the natives.
Human nature can be strange and disturbing, but due to the expansive nature of Revati, it can hold many contradictory thoughts and ideas. The final nakshatra is one which encompasses all the teachings of every other nakshatra, it contains the sum of everything, joining the cosmic ocean where it unites with consciousness and returns to nothingness.
In Ancient Rome, there was a senator Terentius Lucanus who brought a slave named Terence to Rome. He took him under his wing and educated him and soon freed him out of his amazement of his abilities. Terence went onto become a famous playwright around 170 BCE. One of his famous quotes was:
“Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto,” or “I am a man, I consider nothing that is human alien to me.”
This is the best way to sum up this nakshatra. Out of unfairness, misery, poverty and darkness, these natives rise, overcome their challenges with ease and don't hold it against anybody. I am human so nothing human is strange to me.
I’ve spent the last day and a half whittling down a 2.5k excerpt of in the morning i’ll be with you into a 1.5k sample to submit for an application, and holy shit has it been SO fun to really work at honing my word usage and sentence structure. Here’s a bit I’m extra proud of (CW for canon-typical self harm mention and implied past abuse):
Dazai sighs. “I’m not in the mood for a lecture.”
“Let me take care of you, then.” Oda skims his knuckles over Dazai’s ribs, careful not to let the touch linger as long as he wants.
(And he wants, he wants—he has always wanted Dazai, but has never needed him. This has made all the difference.)
“Rub the marks out, at least,” he continues, swallowing hard as he pulls his hand away.
Dazai’s breath shudders, and he bows his head to hide behind limp hair. “Okay,” he says after a too-long moment. “But it’s not beautiful—know that.”
“You don’t owe me beauty.” Oda cups Dazai’s cheek, smiling sadly as he guides Dazai back into the dying sun. “You don’t owe me anything.”
A grimace flits across Dazai’s face before he twists out of Oda’s grip, silhouetting himself against the Yokohama twilight with a scoff. “I don’t need your pity,” he says. “Or your help. But…” He slumps forward as he digs his fingers into his arm. “Look. See me for what I am.”
Oda sits still as the bandages unwind; ever-dutiful, ever-attentive. Dazai’s beauty doesn’t make him easier to look at. His skin is mapped with scars and bruises, a riot of stark white and fading plum. As more is revealed and Dazai begins to collapse into himself, Oda struggles not to let the unsolicited grief blooming behind his gritted teeth take root.
Like this, Dazai is no executive. He’s not a merciless force of nature, not the man who commands attention through his simple existence.
Like this, Dazai is weak.
The bandages have dappled him, leaving his thighs rashy. Near their junction, a few inches down from his curls, several rust-red stripes split the skin of each. They look fresh, but Oda’s learned to stop kicking himself for not being able to predict and protect.
“There.” Dazai crosses his arms and looks away. “Nothing much.”
Oda offers his hands, ignoring his trembling fingers. “Come here.”
Dazai’s feet whisper across the carpet as he drags himself forward to push Oda to the bed and climb astride his hips. “Two days ago,” he says when Oda’s touch ghosts across the edge of a cut. “Don’t worry about it.”
“You can’t stop me.” Oda presses up to mouth along the stark line of Dazai’s jaw, pausing below his ear to just breathe. Dazai smells of gunpowder and salt, the sourness of being bandaged under the oppressive heat.
At least he doesn’t smell of death today.
A tremulous chuckle stirs the air between them before Dazai rolls off, one arm wrapped around his chest. His spine strains against his skin when he curls forward, and he shivers when Oda trails a finger down the knobs. “I need to shower. It’s been a trying few days.”
Without a word, Oda stands and scoops him into his arms, ignoring the grumbled, half-hearted protests that fade when he squeezes gently. Dazai noses against his cheek before initiating a clumsy, fumbling kiss and whispering, “You’re a menace.”
“If I’m a menace, what are you?” Oda asks.
“A nightmare.”
“Well, I’ve always been a dreamer.” Dazai flushes deep into his chest at that, and Oda allows himself a smile as he turns on the water.
He doesn’t stop clinging until the spray sluices over them both, and it isn’t until Oda asks if he’d like to shower just like this that he climbs down and shoves the shampoo into Oda’s hand. Oda is careful as he works to wash away sweat and whatever sins Dazai is chewing on. His touch draws out a quiet groan, and then a thin, reedy whine that bounces off the tile.
Oda hums, carefully cataloging each noise as he curves his hands over Dazai’s shoulders and down his hips, and Dazai stiffens when the touch skims over the SLUT carving in bold scar tissue across his right thigh. He doesn’t speak of his time with Mori; Oda has never asked.
“I’m sorry,” Oda says.
On the heels of a steadying breath, Dazai shakes his head and laces their fingers over the scars. “You wouldn’t ever do this.”
“No.”
“Mn.” Dazai winds his free hand back into Oda’s hair, pressing himself against Oda’s chest. “Touch me.”
Ango once said—voice thick, something akin to regret lurking behind his glasses—that it’s a privilege to be treasured by an executive.
He’s wrong.
Loving Dazai is the privilege. To devote himself, and to have that devotion repaid in quiet smiles and late night drinks at the Lupin. The privilege is knowing every puckered scar that mars Dazai’s skin, and to be honored with the trust Dazai grants no one else.
Hello! I've been interested in vedic astrology since some time. I have been into tropical one and it was somewhat accurate. But i wanna know about what vedic placements say about me. Can you please talk about my placements? Because I'm unable to understand them really.
From what I learnt in nakshatras here are my placements:
Ashlesha sun (I'm actually a Leo sun in tropical astrology and that suits me well, I wonder how this placement turns out to be)
Swati moon (scorpio moon in tropical)
Hasta rising (libra rising)
Ashwini mars (pisces mars)
Uttara phalguni venus (leo venus)
Purva phalguni Mercury (virgo Mercury)
I'm sorry i'm quite confused that's why I wrote the tropical placements too 😅 Also i saw your blog you follow loa. It's quite fascinating. I had been wondering how to use astrology for my desires. Aslo, it's alright if you don't feel like answering, no pressure. Thank you so much. 💖
Hii. Apologies on the late response.
I'm going to touch on the most important placements I see.
Ashlesha is a Mercury ruled nakshatra. It is symbolized by a Naga/coiled serpent. Ashleshas tend to look like snakes.
(Ashlesha Asc Alexa Demie)
Tumblr media
They hate superficiality and are all about preservation. They're very similar to Uttara Bhadrapada, both symbolized by the Nagas which maintain the cosmos. (Ashlesha - ground Naga. Uttara Bhadrapada - water Naga). I bet you're elusive.
Swati is ruled by the deity Vayu, the God Of Wind. And the nakshatra is in an air sign already. Which can indicate that you stay in your head too much. Also, it has a combination of Venus and Rahu. Rahu creates illusions and amazing realities. You might be driven by your imagination. Very artistically driven and can share amazing projects to the world. Also, question, have you been stalked?? Or the stalker? 💀 (just wanna see something)
Hasta Ascendant omggg and I just posted my moon nakshatra part 2 post today. But Hasta women are different. Since Hasta is symbolized by the hand and the word Hasta literally translate to that word, I must ask if you're crafty with your hands? Or, you must have amazing hands.
Hasta is ruled by the Sun God, Savitur. So you're very solar by nature and you may find yourself a lot of admirers or people who are curious to learn from you. Hasta is in the Virgo rashi, so I can clearly assume intellect, the need to master what you put your mind to or just curious about. You shift through interests but this makes you very knowledgeable in a lot of things. Hasta being co-ruled by the Moon can give you a mystical presence. You're probably quite feminine and reserved.
Mercury is your Chart Ruler and it is in Purva Phalguni which is Leo. Purva Phalguni is co-ruled by Venus. Again, I'm sensing creative talents here. Leo, which is ruled by the Sun, shows you're unashamedly yourself. Your Chart Ruler being conjuct your Venus, my goddd you couldn't be any more Venusian maaaaa'am. 👀
Purva Phalguni literally means place of peace/calmness. And the nakshatra is ruled by the diety Bhaga, who gives you the goods in life. Prosperity, abundance, peace, marriage, love etc. He was blinded by the Creator which gives a lesson to natives of nakshatras to enjoy life or make something of themselves and leave what's unimportant behind.
And yesss I'm definitely an LOA follower although I don't reblog much of that content anymore. I'm just silently manifesting and purifying myself ☕
Vedic Astrology is fun to study but I disregard whatever doesn't fit. How I use Astrology post the law of assumption discovery, is that I use my chart to confirm to my inner standards of how I want my reality to be. I'm like oooh I got exalted Venus yass that means I'm the baddest bitch everr etc. There is no "bad placement" in my chart. I've learned to make my own interpretations because I can only be the creator and interpreter of my own damn reality and no one else.
