I feel like the question about "do you ave any hobbies outside of media consumption" got so so fucking close to dissecting how capitalism affects media in a way that the reader/wathcer/fan is expected to be a consumer and just watch/read something mindlessly before moving on to the next to gain the next seratonin boost thus genarate views and growth but instead the concersation ended up being My Hobbies Are Better Than Yours

I promise you most people that read a lot of books either also write themselves or analayse/debate/criticise them, most people that watch a lot of cartoons are artists themselves, film fans are often, shocker, into filmography, and music fans make music themselves. And you can mix it up! How often do you see someone drawing stuff inspired by books they read? Or perhaps someone writing based on a show? Or making a song based on a movie?

Most people who "consume" media in reality interact with it and get inspired by it.

And sometimes they dont do all that. Sometimes they do just watch tv or play games or whatever to shut off their mind and rest, but then they probably do other things, usually a hobby or even just a job/school work that doesnt leave enough free time to do much else.

Every time Obie pulled me aside from that point on, I couldn’t help but wonder “is this it?” I was sure he had a plan, but did he have a ring? We’d never discussed rings.

The rest of the trip was full of sun and fun; but all too soon it was coming to the end…
