Magpie
─ Strawhats, Heart Pirates & Kid Pirates x reader
─ Summary: you like shiny things and you may have a bit of diogenes syndrome, you just like to collect things!
─ Warnings: none
(Whitebeard ver.)
Tumblr media
─ Your strange nature was what made Luffy want you on his ship, he probably just saw you doing something crazy just because you saw something shiny and immediately needed it.
─ Nami and Usopp were not in favor at first, the others have already gotten used to their captain's stupidities, but these two are terrified that you could be someone dangerous.
─ They completely forgot when Nami sees you appear with a bunch of jewelry you found lying around as well as relatively good material for Usopp's (or Franky) weapons.
─ You're like an angel from heaven to the orange girl, practically a money maker!
─ And the others just love watching you collect things, even though it's mostly shiny things, you can always end up going astray when you find, for example, nice looking rocks.
─ You and Luffy have a collection of rocks together, they are all named.
─ Chopper always asks you for help collecting medicinal plants because you're just good at finding things, even though you get distracted by other small items along the way.
─ And that's not all, everyone named you Zoro's official partner, not only are you good at finding little things of interest, you also have a radar to find people! as if you were born with the orientation that the swordsman lacks.
─ Although many times you just get distracted following a trail of shiny things and lose Zoro…
─ Sanji asks you for help from time to time, there are many utensils in the kitchen and he has to move fast, if he loses something among the sea of food and utensils you are always there to give it to him because with a simple glance you found it.
─ The same goes for the parts that Franky needs, you could find that needle in a haystack without breaking a sweat.
─ And while they generally love your collector's character, sometimes you keep too much useless stuff, Robin is the one to let you know when to stop, much as she doesn't like to tell you.
Tumblr media
─ You probably ran into Shachi and Penguin before Law and they were the ones who saw you chasing a trail of forgotten jewels on the floor.
─ They thought you were adorable, they saw how your face lit up with illusion when you cleaned the earth of those shiny things.
─ And they probably asked you for help to find those mushrooms that their captain had sent them to look for, just a look at the image they held of the mushroom was enough to find a lot of them.
─ Law should definitely have you on the team, at least, that's what these two thought.
─ And indeed you ended up in the Polar Tang thanks to your more than useful little hobbies.
─ Leaving aside that you were usually the one in charge of finding all the rare medical things that Law asked for, Bepo ended up being your faithful collector companion.
─ When you two have a free day you always get lost on any island, although you love shiny things, you also chased little animals; frogs, lizards, butterflies… although all of these without catching them, just to observe them.
─ You have little competitions with Shachi and Penguin to see which one of the three gets the prettiest shell, Ikkaku is always the judge of the competitions, and she definitely has favoritims towards you so she lets you win most of the time.
─ You also help her in the kitchen, because despite the fact that most of the team is quite organized ─Law's fault─ they can always lose something or other inside the submarine.
─ You are a heart attack for Law when you mutter to yourself when you collect things, just adorable, although he will also tell you not to take so many things, you cannot fill the submarine with everything you collect.
Tumblr media
─ Oh boy, Kid is so mad, he's been searching for a specific screw for weeks and it just doesn't seem to exist in the world, then one day he bumps into you, pushes you and knocks you down without giving a shit, but then…
─ His eyes widen when he sees that when you fall you drop a bunch of those fucking bolts to the ground, his eye twitches in irritation.
─ For once he decides not to explode against someone, because he uses the gears in his head, if you have so many of those it is because you got them from somewhere, and you will definitely take him there, right?
─ Well, after that he practically kidnapped you because you didn't go to any stores or street vendors, you were just digging in the dirt and you kept pulling out valuable things.
─ Killer just silently watches you as you get on the boat following a handful of coins heading towards the Victoria Punk in a painfully obvious way.
─ Apparently they just needed to keep showing you brilliant stuff for you to stay, they have a lot of that here! so you were good.
─ You have a collection of necklaces that you share with Wire, charms or piercings that match with Heat.
─ Killer scolds you from time to time because you bring a lot of unnecessary things, but he will let you have your little space for some things.
─ Kid sees you as a tracking dog, you once bit his ankles because despite not denying that you were an excellent tracker, you had more honor than being called simply 'dog'.
─ The others also discovered that it was better not to touch your valuables because you would have no problem throwing fists ─or bites─ to defend your precious things.

Fear of You, Deep and Blue
Jake x Daughter!Reader
Tumblr media
if you want, you can set the mood by listening to james horner's fourth track on the avatar soundtrack called "the bioluminescence of the night". but anyways, enjoyyyyy <3
"Mom! Mom! Watch!" Lo'ak exclaimed, before charging at the pond, jumping up--balling his limbs to his chest in the process--and splashing into the water.
"Oh!" Neytiri exclaimed, laughing as she leaned away, shielding her hand in front of her face, "Lo'ak!"
"Woo!" Neteyam cheered, following suit as Lo'ak resurfaced from underneath the water.
When Neteyam jumped in, Neytiri laughed as she swam backwards. Her long limbs combed through the water, each movement causing it to ripple around her. She swam a few strokes before her arm connected with a smooth, floating surface. Turning around, she quickly realized that she'd come in contact with a small lily pad. Smiling, she made her way around it before ducking beneath the water's surface.
Neteyam and Lo'ak, who had been heavily occupied with splashing one another, slowed their movements. Neteyam was the first to scan their surroundings--the grand silhouettes of trees, vines, and leaves, the scattered fan lizards gliding above their heads, the gentle sway of overgrown plant tendrils and grass as the breeze agitated them. Neighboring planets gleamed above them within the deep blue, night sky. Though movement was happening, naturally, everything seemed to reach a temporary stillness.
Then, glancing over at the soft, grassy land--adjacent to the pond, which led back to the village--Neteyam released a breath when he spotted you. Occupied by your multicolored beads and strings, you hadn't noticed the sudden silence around you.
"Hey," Lo'ak called, making Neteyam turn to him, "Where's Mom and Dad?"
Just as he asked this, Jake and Neytiri broke from the water's surface, each parent grabbing a son before throwing him in the air. Neteyam and Lo'ak screamed, flinging their limbs wildly. The element of surprise worked against them as they fell back into the water, having no time to brace themselves. Both boys landed recklessly in the water.
Jake and Neytiri laughed, high-fiving before Jake maintained his grip on her hand and pulled it to his lips. As he kissed her knuckles, she smiled, shaking her head at him.
When Neteyam and Lo'ak resurfaced, they both began yelling in protest.
"What was that for?"
"Mom!"
"No fair! You ganged up on us!"
"Not cool!"
The commotion made you look up from your beads, curious to see what had your older brothers screaming so piercingly. When you saw your parents laughing at them as they complained animatedly, you bit back a smile before lowering your head again.
Jake chuckled before turning to check on you. As expected, you hadn't moved from the spot he'd left you at. His gaze softened as his smile fell slightly. Then, after feeling a gentle hand on his arm, he turned to face his mate.
Neytiri's gaze, as soft as his, shifted from him to you. Jake turned his attention back to you as Neytiri swam closer. As she reached Jake, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Absentmindedly, his large hands cupped her waist, pulling her closer.
"Ma Jake," she whispered, "There will be a time when this cannot continue."
Jake released a sigh, keeping his eyes on you as he nodded. "I know."
As Lo'ak and Neteyam began tackling each other, once again, Neytiri leaned in, positioning herself closer to Jake's ear.
Jake lowered his gaze, focusing on the luminescent pond floor. "She was just a baby," he continued, "I mean, she still is just a baby, but she couldn't even walk yet."
Guilt flooded his eyes, making Neytiri frown before cupping his cheek. She coaxed him to face her before speaking.
"Ma Jake," she breathed, "You are not to blame. She would have followed you anywhere."
"But I should've been watching her," he whispered, "Our baby girl, she--" He shook his head, closing his eyes before continuing. "She's traumatized by this. She's not gonna wanna go near another body of water again."
Neytiri rubbed his cheekbone with her thumb. Then, after planting a kiss on his skin, she leaned back and looked at you. Jake turned to look, as well, observing you quietly.
A small smile was plastered on your lips as you excitedly finished your last bracelet. Then, looking up, you met the gaze of both your parents, making your smile widen.
"Mommy! Daddy! Come see!"
Unable to help himself, Jake broke into a wide smile, feeling his heart swell at your high-pitched, enthusiastic tone.
Neytiri smiled brightly, tilting her head as she admired you. "Coming, my love!"
Turning back to Jake, she leaned in to speak in his ear. "She is still so young," she whispered, "It is better if we solve this now, rather than later."
Jake pulled back, staring at her for a moment. Neytiri raised her eyebrows, giving him an encouraging look. Then, turning around, Neytiri called to your brothers.
"Neteyam! Lo'ak! Come!"
The boys took one last jab at each other before pulling away. As they walked out of the pond, Neytiri raised herself to a standing position before following them out.
Padding across the forest floor, both brothers ran past you, not before placing a quick hand on your head in the process.
"Straight home!" Neytiri called after them, before kneeling in front of you.
"Mommy!" you called, smiling as she eyed you endearingly.
"Yes, my sweet girl," she replied, running a hand through your long hair, "What do you have for me?"
Raising your hands, you held the ends of a beaded bracelet, which was just long enough to fit around Neytiri's wrist. "A gift!" you answered, eyeing her eagerly for approval.
"Oh, ‘itetsyìp ," she cooed, grabbing your face and pressing her forehead against yours, emitting giggles from you, "It is the most beautiful!"
As Neytiri held out her wrist, allowing you to tie the bracelet on, the sound of rippling water caused you to look up. Jake stepped out of the water, tilting his head to catch a glimpse of the bracelet. You smiled up at him before completing the knot.
"Daddy!" you squealed, quickly grabbing your second bracelet, "Don't worry, I didn't forget about you! See?"
Jake chuckled, though his smile didn't reach his eyes, as he kneeled before you. "I get one too?" he asked.
"Mhm! Hold your hand out!" you instructed, making him smile again.
Following your orders, he held his wrist out, letting you wrap the beaded string around it. As you concentrated on tying, Neytiri placed her hand on your head and kissed your hair. When her lips connected with your head, she looked up, eyeing her mate.
Feeling her eyes on him, Jake looked up to meet Neytiri's gaze. His expression fell slightly as she pulled away, standing up silently. Giving him one last nod, she slipped away into the forest.
When you finished your knot, you raised your hands in celebration. "Done!" you exclaimed, making Jake turn his attention back to you, "Do you like it?"
Jake smiled softly, raising his wrist to admire your work. "Wow, look at that," he breathed, turning his wrist over, "My baby girl's the best bead artist in all of Pandora!"
You giggled, making his smile grow. Lowering his wrist, he held his hands out to you, motioning you over.
"C'mere," he instructed softly.
He watched as you stood up, brushing off your backside before turning to face him. Then, you took one small step forward, a mischievous twinkle in your eyes. Jake tilted his head, instantly picking up on your playful aura. When you took another small step forward, he raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, we're playin' that game, huh?" he asked, lowering his hands to brace himself.
Giggles poured from your lips as you braced yourself before sprinting in the opposite direction.
"Oh, that was a big mistake, baby!" he called, running after you.
You screamed, sprinting across the grass before reaching a tree. When you darted behind it, Jake reached it, grabbing onto the trunk. Your giggles grew louder as you peeked around the trunk, only to be met with your father's looming figure.
"I see you!" he exclaimed, making you squeal and run to the other side.
Jake laughed loudly, mimicking your movements as he switched sides. When you peeked around the opposite side, Jake hid his presence for a moment. Then, he popped his head out with a growl.
"You can't hide from me!" he barked, making you scream and run back around.
As easily as it would've been for him to catch you, a childish part of him thrived in the chase. So, he let you run around the tree before padding after you, reaching his hands out like claws.
"I'm gonna get you!" he yelled, quickly gaining on you, "Those little legs can only carry you so far!"
Jake dropped to his knees and skidded across the forest floor, sliding behind you and grabbing your waist. You screamed as he lifted you, flipping you upside down. Then, he pulled you to his chest, keeping one arm wrapped around your legs--which were kicking wildly--as he poked your stomach repeatedly with his other hand.
"Is this what you want? Huh?" he teased, switching to lightly wiggling his fingers over your soft stomach, making you go wild, "You want Daddy to give you some belly laughs?"
You shook your head, unable to get a word out through your laughter.
"No? You sure?" he asked, raising his tone to be heard over your laughs, "Because whenever you wanna provoke me, this is how we solve things."
You shook your head, raising your hands to cover your face.
"Ah, no you don't," Jake said, quickly digging into your hollows to make you lower your hands, "Don't you dare hide that smile from me."
He flipped you right-side up, wrapping his arms around your tiny body and pulling you close. Your giggles died down as he pressed his face against the side of your head, nuzzling into you.
Releasing a sigh, he cupped your head. "My sweet girl," he breathed, "I can never get enough of that smile of yours."
Wrapping your arms around Jake's neck, you pulled yourself closer.
"I love you, Daddy."
Though he knew it wasn't physically possible, he'd almost convinced himself that his heart had turned to mush in that moment. Lowering you, he pressed your head against his chest as he began petting your head, working his hand slowly through your dark waves.
"I love you more, baby. You know I'll always protect you, right?" he asked, making you nod, "I'd reign all hellfire if anything happened to you."
Glancing down, he grew relieved as he saw your eyes drooping closed. However, his relief morphed into anxiety and guilt as he looked towards the pond.
A small noise came from your lips, making Jake snap his gaze back down to you. However, he relaxed when he saw that you'd simply let out a small whimper in your sleep.
"Shhhh," he hushed you, watching as your hand subconsciously slid down his collarbone before settling on his chest.
With every breath he took, your small hand rose and fell with his chest. Ever since you were an infant, you'd always found comfort in filling his heartbeat as you drifted off.
As Jake's mind wandered back to memories of you as a baby, he was unable to stop it from traveling to that night.
"It's mine!" Lo'ak exclaimed, charging after his brother.
"I had it first!" Neteyam protested, water splashing at his feet as he ran into the pond.
"Aye! Both of you!" Jake called, running after his sons, "Quit it now! Give it to me!"
Jake briefly put you down before climbing into the pond. Neteyam and Lo'ak had already made their way to the deeper end, much to Jake's annoyance. He began swimming after them, scolding them in the process.
As you watched your father, you let out amused giggles, clapping your hands. Then, as he got farther away, you frowned slightly, your instincts wanting him close to you again.
Since your only method of travel was with your hands and knees, you began to crawl along the side of the pond. You babbled as you followed Jake, continuing along the edge as he swam farther into the deep end.
"Stop! No! Give it to me!" Jake chided, gripping Neteyam's wrist and snatching the object from his grasp, "Both of you need to cool it. Now."
"Dad!" Neteyam exclaimed, pointing past Jake as Lo'ak smacked the back of his head.
"Aye!" Jake barked, snatching Lo'ak's arm, "What did I just say?"
"Dad!" Neteyam yelled again, eyes wide with fear as he continued to point.
Jake looked at Neteyam, following his finger before sharply turning around. He caught sight of your hand reaching the edge of the pond before you stopped, smiling as you realized that you had Jake's attention again.
"Y/N!" Jake yelled, eyes wide as he bolted back towards you, swimming furiously.
"Dad, get her!" Lo'ak yelled, panic echoing in his tone.
Jake had almost reached you when your hand went over the edge, causing you to plummet into the water. Though you were an infant, the feeling of the icy cold temperature rushing into your lungs--along with the suffocating gasp you took--would forever be ingrained in your mind.
"Shit!"
Your father's eyes expanded with panic as he took a sharp breath and dived. It took him no time to spot you, given that the pond's floor glowed with a radiance that matched the rest of the forest. Your tiny body squirmed as a confused panic overwhelmed your young mind.
Jake straightened his body, shooting forward with a fresh momentum before grabbing you. Within a couple of seconds, he reached the surface, raising you above his head in order to help you resurface first. As he gasped and blinked rapidly, your coughs and cries immediately triggered his panic reflex.
"Y/N!" Neteyam yelled.
Ignoring his sons' calls, Jake pulled you to his chest and hopped out of the water. Then, he began patting your back, coaxing water out of your lungs as you spit up repeatedly.
"Oh my God, baby," Jake cooed, voice shaking with panic, "Baby, baby, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
He gently bounced you once before patting your back again. "That's it, that's it. Get it all out."
Once your coughing was completed, it was replaced by crying. Jake cursed himself as he pulled you to his chest, bouncing you gently as he cupped your small head in his hand.
"I'm so sorry, baby girl. I'm so sorry," he cooed, "Shhhh, it's over now. Daddy has you. Daddy's got you."
Jake closed his eyes, feeling a fire spark within him as the memory concluded. He still held a great deal of anger at himself. In many ways, he felt as though he'd failed to protect you. Furthermore, he was reminded of it every time you refused to go near a larger body of water.
However, he also knew that his mate was right. It was better to get you over this fear now than later. You couldn't go your whole life avoiding water.
. *. ⋆
Releasing a sigh, you blinked briefly as a yawn pushed its way through your lips. As your vision began to clear, you leaned your head up. Immediately, you were met with the tender gaze of your father.
Smiling, you wrapped your arms around his neck. "Hi, Daddy."
He smiled briefly. "Hi, baby," he answered lowly, "Have a good nap?"
You nodded. "Mhm."
Turning away from him, you rubbed your eyes before opening them once again. As your surroundings materialized before you, a paralyzing panic shot through your entire body. Eyes widening, you looked around, moving your gaze from Jake's arms around your body to the pool of water that surrounded you. Turning frantically, you spotted the grassy forest floor, several feet away.
"No," you breathed, tears gathering in your eyes, "No! No! Daddy! No!"
"Y/N, Y/N," Jake called calmly, tightening his grip on you as you began squirming, "Baby, look at me. Look at me, sweetheart."
He'd never seen you break down so fast. Pure terror befell your eyes as you began screaming. Your piercing voice echoed throughout the entire forest, agitating a swarm of fan lizards as they took off above you.
Jake felt his heart shattering within his chest as he maintained his steel grip on you, knowing that he would need to tough it out for the results he wanted in the end.
Nevertheless, he couldn't help thinking that he did this to you. He was the reason that water terrified you so deeply. However, this weighing guilt gave him the strength to assure an end to this fear. Once you saw how harmless and beautiful water could be, you would be able to move past this.
"Baby girl, please," he begged softly, "Look at me. Look at Daddy."
However, the longer he held you, the more he realized that his words would do nothing to soothe your tears. This was pure, genuine fear, and you simply needed to cry it out.
So, after releasing a sigh, he pressed your head against his chest, once again. Bouncing you gently, he let you cling to him and scream at the top of your lungs. Closing his eyes and tilting his head back, he continued to remind himself that this was for your own good.
Jake didn't time it, so he had no idea how long you cried, but he'd never forget the relief that washed over him when you finally began to calm down. Opening his eyes, he lowered his gaze to you, watching as your hoarse voice began to quiet down. Keeping his vision trained on you, he waited as your cries turned to sniffles. Then, after a long moment, you grew silent, wiping your swollen eyes with your hands.
Before saying anything, he let you look around. He wanted you to observe your situation and process the lack of danger on your own. Still hiccuping with the occasional sniffle, you looked around, taking in the serene state of the pond.
Finally, you looked back up at Jake, eyeing him vulnerably. He released a breath through his nose, smiling softly as he tilted his head.
"You ready to hear me out now?" he asked.
Your small hand moved over his chest, resting over his heart. Lowering your gaze, you nodded.
"Okay," he began, tilting your head back up with his pointer, "I need you to know that I'm not gonna let anything happen to you tonight. Do you understand?"
You pouted, looking around before nodding.
"Water is not always scary. It cleanses us, relaxes us, hydrates us, offers us methods of travel," he continued, "and once your body learns how to interact with water, it can do so much for you, baby."
You released a breath, still eyeing the pond with uneasiness. Slowly, Jake began to lower himself. "There are countless situations where water can be harmless. I need to show you that so you don't have to be afraid anymore."
Whining slightly, you clung to him, wrapping your arms around his neck. Immediately, he stopped his movements.
"You want a moment?" he asked.
After you nodded, he maintained his position, allowing you to adjust to your proximity to the water. Once you grew comfortable, you looked back at him.
"Can I keep going?" he asked gently, earning a nod from you.
Jake resumed lowering himself, finally stopping when your feet were just above the water. He tightened his grip before speaking once more.
"I got you," he said simply.
As he slowly lowered you both into the water, you tucked your face into his neck, squeezing your eyes shut. You felt the temperature slightly drop around you. Once the water was up to your chest, Jake halted his movements, allowing you to adjust.
In the silence of the night, the only sound you heard was the soft rippling of the water that surrounded you. For a few minutes, you kept yourself tucked into Jake's neck, not daring to lift your head. However, after Jake placed a hand over your head, petting your hair, you slowly gained the courage to sit up.
When you did, you gasped, looking around at how close the water was to you. Jake watched you closely, monitoring your state.
Then, you released a breath, feeling your fear begin to slip off of you. Jake lifted his hand from the water, running it softly over the back of your head before lowering it.
"You okay?"
When you nodded, he sighed, smiling slightly.
"Okay," he answered, "Now, I've told you about holding your breath before, right? Let me see you do it."
Meeting his eyes, you took in a deep breath and puffed up your cheeks. Jake laughed, nodding briefly.
"Exactly. Good girl." He bounced you once, readjusting his grip on you. "Now, that's what you always have to do when you go underwater. No matter what, don't take a breath while underneath. That's how it hurts your chest."
Raising a hand, he placed it over your small chest. "Right here. But if you hold your breath, going under won't hurt you."
Releasing the breath you'd been holding, you lowered your gaze to his hand, which was still resting on your chest. Then, you looked back into his eyes--eyes that assured a sense of security that no one could match.
Jake shook his head. "That's all it is."
When he lowered his hand, wrapping it back around your body, you glanced around one more time. Jake waited for you to meet his gaze again before raising an eyebrow.
"Can we try?" he asked, squeezing you briefly.
You took a small breath and nodded.
Jake smiled, grabbing your hand and pressing it against his chest.
"Ready?" he asked, "Deep breath."
The two of you inhaled deeply before he lowered your bodies beneath the water's surface. The cool rush was a shock to your mind, but you found the sensation slightly refreshing. Opening your eyes, you were met with a view of your father, his eyes watching you as his queue floated freely behind him. He nodded to you, giving you a close-lipped smile.
When he brought you back up, you both inhaled deeply, blinking rapidly as water dripped down your faces. You panted, looking around as Jake held you to him.
Cupping your head, he raised his eyebrows. "You okay?"
As your panting breaths calmed, you felt a small smile tug on your lips. "Again, Daddy."
His eyes widened as he gawked at you. For a moment, he remained silent. However, his blank stare turned into a wide smile. Before long, his smile broke into relieved laughter.
"A-Again?" he repeated, cupping your cheek.
You nodded, unable to resist smiling with him.
Jake released a breath, shaking his head. "Oh, good girl," he breathed, squeezing you to him and peppering you with kisses, "Good girl, good girl."
You giggled as he leaned back, wiping some hair from your face. "My brave girl," he whispered, "God, I love you so much."
"Again, Daddy," you repeated, making him chuckle before nodding.
"Alright, we'll go again. Ready? Deep breath."
As you repeated your actions, you stayed underneath longer. Looking around, you took in the glowing pond floor. You felt as though you were seeing a completely different version of the world. Then, after looking back at Jake, you pressed your hand against his chest.
Jake looked down, smiling at your hand placement before pulling you close, holding you as your hair floated wildly around you.

You Know I feel like Rob Lucci snatched up Lizard in Water 7 by simply waiting for her to be alone and then taking her. Like before Robin boarded the train but after the reveal (that they were apart of CP9)
Like here's the thing she's not officially apart of the Straw hats (at the time) she's still considered to be apart of Baroque Works by proxy of her being the daughter of Crocodile. And so when Robin tries to argue for Lizard's freedom. Rob Lucci simply says "You said that the Strawhats were to be left alone. You never said anything about Crocodile's daughter. By the way until they reach Enies Lobby he only calls Lizard Crocodile's daughter after the reveal or little girl before the reveal. He doesn't refer to her as Lizard until she gets his respect when she throws her restrained self at Sandam and has to be physically dragged away from Spam face kicking and screaming demanding Spam's skull to beat him to death with his skull. Then he calls her Lizard and starts to become a platonic yandere for her and offers to pay for plastic surgery for her, so she can start fresh. Rob Lucci views Lizard as His cub that he must raise, nurture and mold into becoming the ideal assassin because as you said Lizard is cute which means that people won't see it coming
I got inspired and decided to write out the moment where Lucci officially becomes attached to her
Warning for acts of violence and a lot of blood mention. Also Spandam is here which is a warning in and of itself.
Lucci could not wait for Spandam to stop talking and dismiss them so he could leave and be doing literally anything else. Unfortunately, Spandam loved the sound of his own voice too much to ever be brief with his speeches, especially when he feels like he’s “accomplished” something. Not that he had any hand in the apprehending of the three individuals brought to Enies Lobby today.
Cutty Flam, or Franky as he called himself, had given them the most trouble, but even that was minimal. Nico Robin was easily coerced into cooperation with her newfound weakness with the Straw Hat Pirates. (Y/N), a former warlord’s daughter, had been the easiest. Not only did she not put up a fight, she boarded the train on her own once Kalifa confirmed that Nico Robin would also be there. The complete absence of fear had been intriguing. Lucci wasn’t sure if the child was truly fearless, or if she was simply intensely naive.
He’s sure that the answer will reveal itself soon enough.
While Nico Robin and Franky were actively arguing with Spandam, (Y/N) was just standing there and glowering at him. Her disdain for him was palpable as well as amusing. Understandable, too.
It appeared that Spandam had finally had enough of Robin’s protests, and decided to make it abundantly clear by punching her. The woman hit the floor hard and struggled to get back onto her feet. Lucci just rolled his eyes, he knew for a fact that the only reason Spandam was able to do this was because of the weakening effects of the sea prism stone handcuffs. If they were absent, she likely wouldn’t have even stumbled.
A flash of movement caught his eye. The once passive (Y/N) charged straight at Spandam. Since his back was to her, he didn’t get a chance to see her coming and only became aware of her when she rammed into him.
Spandam tripped over Robin and toppled onto the ground, slightly dazed. Before he could react, (Y/N) was on him. The teenager raised her foot and brought it down directly onto his face with a resounding crack. The impact most certainly broke his nose.
She didn’t stop there, however, she kept going. (Y/N) was repeatedly stomping on his head with precise and consistent blows. These weren’t the random, desperate kicks of someone acting out of fear. No, this was nothing but concentrated fury. Her once neutral expression was contorted with rage as she cursed out the chief of CP9 with vitriol dripping from each word.
Everyone was watching this in a stunned silence. Robin had entirely stopped trying to get up and was staring at (Y/N) in horror, Franky was in a similar state. The rest of CP9 was gawking at the display, none of them had anticipated the abrupt turn in her behavior.
While this was all extremely entertaining, it did have to come to an end before Spandam did. Jabra sprung out of his chair and rushed over to the girl. His hands clamped onto her upper arms and lifted her up and away from her victim. This was not enough to deter her. (Y/N) flailed and tried her damnedest to kick Jabra, albeit unsuccessfully.
“Quit! You’re just making this worse for yourself, kid,” Jabra tossed the teenager away from him. She rolled across the ground, but quickly got up and sprinted towards Spandam again. Jabra blocked her path, but that didn’t stop her from screaming at the crumpled form of the chief, “If you ever fucking touch Robin again I’ll fucking kill you, you piece of shit!”
Kumadori had abandoned his own chair to check on Spandam, who had now shifted onto his side and was violently coughing and hacking. Blood was gushing out of not only his broken nose but also his mouth. He spat onto the floor and one, two… Four teeth fell out. Oh wow, impressive.
“Lucci! Keep that monster away from me!” Spandam clung onto Kumadori’s hair as he attempted to get to his feet, “I knew you were involved with your father’s business! You were probably his best assassin, you little psychopath!”
Lucci snorted at the thought. Nothing about her actions indicated that she was experienced. Though he would admit that he could see some potential. Lucci grabbed the chain that connected her handcuffs and pulled her back a few steps, she shot him a venomous glare over her shoulder, but otherwise cooperated. Her shoulders were heaving from how hard she was breathing, moreso out of anger rather than exercise if he had to guess.
Spandam had managed to get himself upright with help and was trying to wipe the blood from his face with a handkerchief. He slapped away Kumadori’s helping hand and stomped towards Lucci and (Y/N).
He leered at the girl, “You have no idea what you’ve done! In case you forgot, I’M IN CHARGE OF YOU NOW!” Flecks of blood sprayed out of his mouth and got on her face. Shockingly, she doesn’t flinch from it and keeps her face neutral. “I’m going to make whatever is left of your miserable little life absolute hell and kill you the second you’re no longer worth keeping alive!”
Lucci saw Spandam becoming increasingly aggravated from her giving him no reactions to feed off of. His scowl shifts into a smirk and he gets right in her face, “Or maybe I’ll take this out on Robin and make you watch as you’re powerless to do anything.”
There was a pause. And then she spat in his face.
A couple of the CP9 agents snickered. This was honestly the most entertaining thing they’ve been subjected to in their time under Spandam. Even Lucci felt a grin tug at his lips, this girl was proving herself to be more and more interesting by the second.
Spandam recoiled and aggressively wiped at his face, only to yelp in pain when he brushed against his broken nose like an idiot. His eyes zeroed back in on (Y/N) and he reeled his arm back, “You little bitch!”
His hand swung towards her to slap her across the face, but that’s not what happened. With an honestly impressive speed, her head snapped forward and her teeth sank into his hand. Spandam screamed and tried to shake the girl off, but she only bit down harder and snarled.
“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GET HER OFF ME!” The screech was so loud that it made Lucci’s ears hurt, but he obliged. An order is an order after all.
Lucci yanked her back by the handcuffs while Kumadori was pulling on Spandam. This girl was holding onto that hand for dear life, and it took some genuine effort to separate them, but with one final tug they were pulled apart.
This was accompanied by a snapping sound and even louder screaming from Spandam who was holding the bitten hand to his chest and doubled over. Kaku could be heard muttering out a ‘good lord’, and before Lucci could investigate to see what prompted such a reaction from a trained assassin, (Y/N) spit something out onto the floor.
A couple of quiet thuds were heard, and when he looked down, two fingers were rolling across the floor with blood spurting out of them. The pinky and ring fingers to be exact.
“I TOLD YOU TO KEEP HER AWAY FROM ME!” Never one to take accountability for his own stupid actions, Spandam was quick to direct his rage at Lucci.
“I did. But then you chose to approach her again,” it took everything Lucci had to keep from openly mocking him to his face.
“Boss, maybe we should get you some medical attention!” Kumadori was lightly pulling him towards the door, desperate to leave the situation before their moronic chief could possibly make it any worse.
Spandam was pulled out the main door and could be heard hurling obscenities from down the hall.
The room was dead silent and all of the eyes were on (Y/N). Robin and Franky were slack jawed, while the CP9 members appeared to be surprised but also mildly impressed. Not that she was paying them any mind. She was more focused on spitting out the blood in her mouth and trying to wipe off what remained using her shoulder.
Jabra strolled over and lightly nudged the disembodied fingers, “Damn, and you did all of that with your hands behind your back. I almost want to see what would happen if the cuffs came off.”
“Then do it.” She leveled him with a hard stare. Blood that wasn’t her own was smeared across the lower half of her face, “Uncuff me and see what happens.”
“No can do, kiddo. As much as everyone here might love to see that, we’ve got jobs to do.” Jabra flicked her forehead playfully and laughed when she tried to bite him, too. Lucky for him, she wasn’t quite fast enough to get him.
His eyes briefly flickered up to see Lucci’s face, and he cringed at the sight, “Hey kid, you might want to tone it down a bit.”
“Why?” Her response was snappy and sharp.
“Because I really don’t like the look on Lucci’s face right now and I’m pretty sure you’re the cause of it.”
She looked over her shoulder with an annoyed huff, but froze up once she made eye contact with the man holding her. A wide, malicious grin was plastered across his face as he leered down at the girl.
It was in that moment that Lucci knew he wanted this girl to live to see another day and not rot in prison. Letting someone with such a natural propensity for violence die now would be a horrendous waste. He knows that under the right supervision, this girl could be shaped into a damn good assassin, and he knows just the person that could train her.

Companions reactions to Sole getting surprise adopted/kidnapped by a Mama Deathclaw who is very protective of her young, which just happens to include Sole now?
This one is refreshing. Thank you for the challenge, I hope to be up to it!
Cait : The young fighters is frozen on the spot.
When she witnessed the massive thing take over Sole, she was certain it was the end of her partnership. Who would survive being eaten by a deathclaw?
But the matriarch wasn't eating Sole. She carried them.
Cait followed, despite her better judgment. She was unable to convince herself to leave her friend.
She is now hidden in the creature's cave, watching the monster... Take care of Sole?
It appears that the creature decided that Sole should replace her offspring, whose bodies have been decimated around them.
She is currently attempting to persuade the Sole to consume radstag... raw. And Sole doesn't appear to enjoy the harshness.
"Hmm, yes, yum yum," they pretend to eat.
The deathclaw isn't looking persuaded, stuffing the piece of meat against the human mouth.
Cait tries not to laugh. There is nothing to laugh about here—
Finally, a commotion outside the cave catches the reptilian mother's attention, and Cait seizes the opportunity to approach Sole quietly.
"Looks like you made a parent…"
"Laugh, but we have to get out of here before she comes back."
"I told you that this power armor made you look like a lizard…"
"Will you help me find a passage?"
They continue searching the rubble for an access route, if they can impossible to follow by Mother Deathclaw, but at this point, any path at all. They don't find any. These beasts aren't foolish enough to let their prey escape.
Cait turns to notify Sole of her failure, but the words remain stuck in her throat.
The Deathclaw is there, standing above her, threatening with claws and jaws to "protect" her tiny one.
Sole stares at Cait with horror, but it is too late.
The monster will have another type of meat to serve to his child.
Codsworth : The butler panics. He panics, goes in circles, and turns on himself. He noticed that the Deathclaw did not kill Sole, but he left with him. He panics and has no idea what to do. His circuits will burn if he does not find it.
Against all conventional sense, he resolves to do the only thing within his power. He rushes forward with a battle cry, later blaming himself for his barbaric behavior, which is unworthy of his code. He charges ahead and strikes the creature's bottom without hesitation.
"I may not be a Mister gusty, but you will not take away my master/mistress!"
Everything in the way is engulfed in flames.
The monster leaps into the air before clinging to a cliff. Codsworth wonders how to reach him for a minute, but the creature merely places a dazzled Sole on the plumb, pats their head, and turns to face the robot to returns to the battle.
Oh, Codsworth now understands.
"You…you think it's your…child?"
"Cods!" Sole exclaims from their headland. "Don't oppose with the lizard! Run away!"
"I will never abandon you, Mum/Sir."
"Save yourself! I will get through this."
"Are you sure?"
"Run! Go find Preston! Do not fight this creature alone!"
Codsworth, hesitant and dubious, slowly withdraws. The deathclaw does not appear to intend to fight. Her priority appears to be to get Sole into a shelter, and when the menace flees, she does not follow it.
Codsworth sighs with relief. His circuits may not have withstood the clawed assault.
But now he needs to find Preston.
He is unsure how his poor master/mistress would cope with the beast's overly rustic treatment.
Curie : "Is it the habit of these creatures to choose a human as their offspring?"
"Not at all. Are you helping me or not?"
"But she don't! want"
Curie attempted to approach, but Mother Deathclaw, who tolerates the Miss Nanny in her cave, does not allow her to be closest Sole.
"Then go get help!"
"What help?"
Sole opens their lips to respond, but then holds back. Do they genuinely want others to know about their situation?
"Do you know what? Nevermind. We wait for her to fall asleep. Walk away and get to the isolated cabin we saw higher up the hill. As soon as I get out of this mess, I will join you."
"Sure."
Curie turns away to obey Sole without asking any further questions. Even if she has to wait many days in the cab for her companion to arrive.
Danse : When the Deathclaw attacks Sole, Danse opens fire. The creature glances over its shoulder before fleeing with his loot at breakneck speed.
The paladin struggles to follow the track, much slower in his power armor, but he eventually reaches in the place where the monster brought Sole.
And the scene he unexpectedly encounters perplexes him.
The mother, in her empty nest, tries to feed a dull Sole.
The Brotherhood freezes for one moment. His subordinate is not actually in danger. And what he sees is so bizarre that his mind pauses.
However, the hesitancy is short-lived.
"Ad Victorium!"
He targets and shoots the beast, hoping to eliminate it as soon and easily as possible.
And the creature turns out to be a very easy target, focusing all of its efforts on "protecting" Sole, exposing itself to unnecessary risk.
When the battle is ended, Sole walks south without speaking. Danse immediately catches up to them.
"Soldier—
"A word in a report, and you will never be able to call me a soldier ever."
Danse doesn't insist. He is unsure whether he can obey Sole on this point, given the importance of the reports, but a glance at his companion makes him question whether he should make an exception.
Deacon : "What I find awful is that no one will ever believe me."
Sole stares at the spy.
They were on their way to Coastal Cottage when a familiar Deathclaw from Sole emerged on the road and snatched them. Deacon was so astonished that he didn't even consider shooting. When he saw his comrade being placed on the lizard's shoulder, he did not dare to shoot either, waiting for the appropriate moment. And the monster led them to the bottom of a ravine, where he had built his nest.
Another little deathclaw was anxiously waiting for them.
The matriarch sat her guest on the floor and offered them a good, bloody radstag. Deacon understood right away.
He settled within earshot, but not to claw reach. The mother was clearly annoyed by the intruder at first, but she did not strike him until if Deacon try to approach.
She only gives him a dark glance on occasion, which pales in comparison to Sole's.
Deacon already has a plan. As soon as Mama Deathclaw and her child fall asleep, he will join Sole and use Stealth-Boys to escape. But, in the meantime, he breaks the crust himself because he has nothing else to do.
And laughing from time to time…
Dogmeat : The dog reacts with astonishment and growls. But every time he takes a step, he crosses the path of the massive lizard. However, the matriarch does not reply forcefully to the bothersome creature. When Dogmeat leaps to bite her, she cups him like an overly eager puppy.
Surprised, Dogmeat realizes he have not the weight. And that the monster does not harm his master/mistress. Confused, he follows them to the cave containing the deathclaw's nest.
The mutated chameleon mother clearly sees the human as her offspring and promptly feeds them with good food. Dogmeat is ecstatic to have his fair share of raw meat.
When Sole moans and collapses to the ground, the dog casts him an intrigued glance.
The monster does not harm them and provides them with food, what more could Sole want?
Elder Maxson : Despite his physical and mental strength and training, Maxson completely freezes. Not for long, but completely.
He is actually paralyzed, the terrible memory of his first combat with a Deathclaw returning to him at the same time as the phantom pain in his face.
But it doesn't last very long.
Maxson shakes himself as the matriarch took Sole on her shoulder.
"Ad Victorium!" he yells as he rushes to save his Knight.
The weapon brandishes, without hesitation, he let rains on the beast all of the bullets in his magazine.
This is insufficient to kill the beast, but it does allow Sole to get to the ground and position themself by his side.
They worked together to put an end to the monster's reign of terror.
As they leave the scene, Sole turns to their superior, ashamed.
"I know I don't have the right to ask, but—
"Do you want me to keep it quiet?"
The elder's comprehension appears to relief Sole.
"Please."
"I don't see how killing a monster that threatens civilians is shameful."
"You know—
"I know you shot a monster by my side, threatening civilians."
Sole smiled. They let out a tremendous sigh as they set off again, knowing Maxson would cover their embarrassment without hesitation.
Hancock : He has no constraint in laughing. Not for one moment. All the way to the monster's lair, he laughs so hard that his ribs hurt, and when Sole gives him a dark glance, he laughs even harder. He even takes one or two dosages of Jet to prolong his pleasure.
"Can you help me instead of making fun of me?"
"Can I help you? But mom is there to take good care of you, don't you see?"
Hancock was taken aback when the Deathclaw grabbed his partner and nearly attacked. But something hold him back. In the creature's mentality. She didn't seem to intend to harm Sole. And now she carries them around like they're her own little one, tries to feed them, and, in general, taking care of them.
Hancock finds the scenario hilarious. Especially since she recognized that he did not want to hurt her and that she was leaving him behind.
Yes, he will help Sole out. The beast will ultimately sleep. But, in the meantime, let's have some fun.
Gage : He stands up, frowning.
"Hey, Boss, she seems to love you very much, the Madonna."
Sole just grunts and crosses their arms, humiliated by being hoisted on the monster's shoulder.
"Can you give me a gun if you don't decide to kill her?"
"Kill her? Why? She wants to protect you. An Overboss with a Deathclaw as a guardian is a thousand times better than anything I could have imagined for fucking the dog with the young hoodlums."
"Hey! I am being held captive by a monster! Are you helping me, yes or no?"
"Shit. I'm not going to risk my life in a situation that doesn't need it. She does not want to consume you; she wants to feed you. Open your mouth wide, please."
"You're foolish, huh—
Sole is interrupted by a piece of bloody flesh forced into their mouth. They spits out, much to Mama Deathclaw's displeasure.
"Oh, don't offend your mother like that. She bothered to hunt; now eat."
"BUT YOU'RE REALLY STUPID!"
"Eat!" commands Gage, the beast carrying out the directive.
MacCready : "500 caps!"
Sole stares at their partner.
"Seriously? Isn't that a little redundant?"
"500 caps, and if I don't live, you'll give them to Daisy for Dunkan. I won't move unless you promise me."
"I promise you!"
Mac stands with his trusty Mighty, aims at the monster's eye, and shoots. The Deathclaw doesn't even have time to realize out what's going on, he falls, dragging Sole with him.
The mercenary rushes to assist the other in getting up, but he is welcomed coldly.
"My life for 500 caps…"
"What, you weren't worth that?"
Sole merely growls away, clearly humiliated and irritated. Mac looks at the thing.
"So this monster, he thought you were his little one?"
"Shut up!"
"No, but it's true you're cute."
"SHUT UP!"
"Didn't you like your porridge?"
Sole no longer answers to him and moves forward with determination. Mac soon follows them, vowing to tell Hancock about their adventure when they return to Goodneighbor. Maybe even charge Piper for the juicy narrative...
Nick Valentine : "Well done, kid/doll. Now you may brag about showing me everything."
Sole simply grunts as the Deathclaw places her «little» on the ground.
Nick realized quickly that the creature does not want to hurt his friend, but he should remain at distance. He tries to think of a way to get Sole out of this predicament, although we must admit that the situation is quite amusing. And he won't miss them with it.
Piper : "It's… too… CUTE!"
Piper beams right in front of the attractiveness of the setting.
Mom Deathclaw dealt the reporter a severe hit when she stole Sole, and she had to recover before tracing the beast. However, when she discovers Sole in the nest, being fed by the creature, she can't help but melt in front of the monster's tenderness.
"You didn’t catch! A Deathclaw takes the Sole Survivor for his child! It'll sell as a title."
"How dare you?"
The matriarch turns, apparently displeased, towards the intruder. The young woman moves back and raises her hands in front of her.
"Woh, Mom, calm down. I don't want to hurt your small one. But if you'd pose, I'd like to photograph that moment."
“At this moment, I feel a great want to kill you,” Sole answered angrily.
Preston : "You really have a thing with deathclaws!"
Sole cannot laugh. Not at all. They feel foolish being carried around like a potato bag on the large mutant lizard's shoulder, and the movement will soon make them sick.
Preston followed them, chuckling, as if he thought the scenario was immensely hilarious.
"Remind me to help you again the next time you're stuck by a deathclaw," Sole says sarcastically.
"I think you're doing very well!" the Colonel says, trying not to laugh.
That is not that the situation is not critical. It may easily turn sour if the monster realizes Sole is not a newborn deathclaw, but he believes he and his partner will get away with it eventually.
In the meantime, he can't stop thinking about how the audience will react when he provides this story at the bar.
Strong : The Super Mutant does not hesitate, jumping on the creature's back and circling her neck with his massive arms. And the monster is not scared of fighting and fling the Super Mutant to the ground. She growls angrily, forming a shield in front of Sole. When Strong gets the situation, he scratches his head.
"Deathclaw not eat Sole?"
"I…I think she thinks I'm her kid."
Strong takes a step forward, and the matriarch rumbles lightly but she does not move forward, as if she does not want to leave Sole.
"Puny Human really in strange situation."
"Throw me my rifle that I've dropped, I'll show you how I get out of strange situations."
Strong grabs the weapon, but as he bends over, the deathclaw attacks and knocks him down. Sole, shocked, jumps in to assist Strong, but the mother lizard repels them effectively.
"He is my friend! Don't hurt!" he pleads fervently.
The mother pushes them away again, as if they are beginning to irritate her, a clawed leg on Strong. Sole insisted and threw themself onto Strong, shielding him from their own body.
"MINE!"
The mother appears bewildered, yet something brightens in her eyes. She grasps Sole over one shoulder and Strong over the other.
"Raaah, Rwine," she says.
Strong grumbles against the humiliation. Sole sighs.
"Yeah, there's two of us…"
X6-88 : The Courser remains undisturbed in front of the beast.
"M'dam/Sir, it seems that this creature has developed a will to take you under her protection and care."
"It seems," Sole scolds cynically. "You free me?"
"It is against our objective to enter this creature's den, so I will proceed—
"PROCEED, DAMN IT!"
The Courser does not think twice and kills the monster who turns out to be an easy target, doing everything he can to defend Sole at the price of his own safety.
X6 kicks the corpse after taking him down to ensure it does not react as Sole rises up.
"I believe his behaviour was still unusual. It's unfortunate that we had to put an end to a type that was not a threat in the first place."
"You'll tell me so much."
"Do you think it was your smell or appearance that misled this matriarch?"
"Do you know how to shut up?"
"It would be interesting to share the specifics of this event with the Institute's researchers—
Sole abruptly turns to his Courser and places a palm on his chest, fairly aggressively.
"You say a word of anything to anyone, and I personally make sure that Ayo erases even the slightest memory of the existence of the slightest cell of your brain and that your body is converted to household chores."
X6 looks noticeably surprised. Very shocked. Sole has never expressed interest about memory wiping, mostly the opposite. And now they are threatening it. The Courser realizes that it is best to remain silence. But within, he is asking himself a lot of questions.

Well fellow Callowmoores, it's almost 2024 and that will potentially be the year we see endgame of Campaign 3 - given how we've returned to the Bloody Bridge and likely intend to throw down on Ruidus and fight Predathos (somehow). Nevertheless, we're about halfway through our three week wait for another episode and since we're on the verge of intense and emotionally-charged battles ahead there'll probably be little time for romantic activity - little does not mean none, mind you - during it. Last time we had a wait like this I did a post on some underrated Callowmoore moments from the Shard Incident episodes, but since others have already wonderfully dissected the recent Feywild episodes' romantic moments I'm afraid I don't have much else to add to that. I do, however, have a bunch of mental scenarios that didn't come to be, or have yet to come to be in different contexts to how I previously thought them up. So I thought; it's the new year, why not indulge the artists and fanfic writers who can do a better job than I can with it?
So if you like some of these things, treat it as a free prompt; draw, write, flourish however you see fit, and have a Happy New Year!
If you kept reading after that awesome, I was a little worried the main thing would be a tldr situation, and still could be I didn't expect the bullets to be as long...they were actually even longer at first so not sorry but also sorry? I guess. But anyway, we know what you're here for so let's go.
Note: The scenarios were devised to keep me from suffering crippling doubt and mental shutdown between episodes so mostly they'll be fluffy and comfort-oriented than angsty.
As mentioned before, Fearne pickpocketing the Ashton doll Laudna made to practice talking to Ashton, building up to it or luring Ashton over. Ashton's awareness of the pickpocketing can grow too or they could simply allow it from the get-go "I let her take whatever she wants."
Dancing, low-hanging fruit maybe but always good for chaos, awkwardness, wingman activity, and high energy, but I'm talking folk dancing like in Titanic not ballroom dancing, that's not their or the Feywild's style
"I'll be the judge of that." specifically for when Ashton feels they're unlovable or doesn't deserve to be loved. There's also "Then I guess I'm crazy." and "You've always deserved it."
Pickpocketing one another has been their game, but I can't deny that the thought of Ashton making something for Fearne was highly appealing too, I had them make a bracelet from melted down jewelry and gems they had on them (plus a compartment with an Oleander seed and some water from the Feywild in it), imperfectly made but sturdy and still pretty. Bonus for Ashton reverse pickpocketing it onto her.
"You've always been perfect to me" is another one I mentioned before, I usually have Ashton say it (and sometimes post-Fearne taking the shard reiterate that Fearne keeps becoming more perfect in their eyes) but it can go either way.
Sleeping beside each other's a common one. Not even sexually, often it's for comfort, soothing pain/nightmares or reassuring each other, and - if Fearne hasn't disappeared beforehand leaving Ashton waking up feeling a comforting presence missing - usually not wanting to get out of bed the following morning.
Similar to the above is short rests in close quarters, a specific one is Ashton using their primordial earth powers to pull up a discrete wall for the group to hide behind and rest a little, melding into the actual wall to offer a polymorphed Fearne (a small fire lizard usually, sticking on Orym and Ashton's heads) more space so she can rest too, albeit very snugly and pressed against them - easy opening for kisses under the jawline btw.
Metaphorical but Ashton's reassurance of "You could never hurt me" regarding Fearne's primordial fire was used a bit, plus it aligns with the recent "I'll take my fire damage now" when they hugged Fearne.
Fearne being open to Ashton about her fears of being the dark version of herself, bonus quote "I don't know that person, she's not you, never will be, you're better."
Fearne pulling the Uno Reverse "The shard hurt, but knowing you were there made it hurt much less." and/or "Thank you for saving me."
Also similar to the one above are conversations post-Fearne taking the shard exploring newfound empathy for each other's (albeit more extreme) positions at Whitestone; Fearne experiencing the intensity of the shard's fire, and Ashton experiencing the dread of seeing Fearne in pain from it and being afraid to lose her.
"Whatever happens, promise you'll come back to me" is a pertinent one for the current setting too.
What is that? 1, 2...12! One for each month, there's of course more, some are simple low-hanging fruit or more detailed (no seriously I trimmed a lot of these bullet points down in detail) but for the sake of length we'll stop here. Once again, Happy New Year my fellow Critters and Callowmoores!

I’d be interested in anything Matt Casey.
I just wrote the most weird little thing so here you are. 🤣 Brettsey around 2 years into their relationship, so kind of au.
+++
“How’re you so cold natured? You’re like a little lizard,” Sylvie asks one night, giggling when Matt burrows himself against her side in bed.
“Mm, at least we’re not both cold natured, or we’d be miserable. You know you’re meant to be when one person is the cold one and one person is the hot one,” he laughs, nuzzling her neck with his cold nose, which makes her flinch slightly.
“Yes, but when someone is hot natured and they have a bunch of warm clothing and blankets against them-“
“Don’t worry, once I’m warm enough I can start shedding my little lizard skin.”
The moment he says it Sylvie fake gags, scrunching her face up.
“Ew! Don’t say it like that!”
Matt laughs and kisses her.
“Oh I’m so sorry, my deepest apologies. I forgot big brave Paramedic in Charge Sylvie Brett doesn’t like talking about lizards.”
“It’s not lizards!” She huffs and narrows her eyes. “It’s talking about shedding your skin!”
“Eh, same thing,” be grins, waving a hand in the air.
“You are so lucky I love you.”
“Or what?” Matt asks, eyes going wide and teasing. “You’d leave? You’d take away my warmth? I’d die, Sylvie!”
“Oh my god….”

summary: a day in the life of Bucky's baby where Natasha babysits you for an evening
⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ ⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ ⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆
Bucky was always grateful for his money, but he found a new appreciation for it when he met you. Before, he’d buy fancy watches and cars he didn’t need to feel something. Now, he was less interested in his personal spending and utterly devoted to spoiling you.
Most of this spending was done on your playroom. Bucky made sure every square inch was exactly what you wanted. He even did the whole project himself, partly because he didn’t want to trust someone else with something this important, and partly because he wanted the pride of knowing that he did this for you. Him. Not one of his employees or some fancy designer. Just your daddy doing something sweet for his baby.
You loved everything about your playroom; however, there was one corner that stood out.
This corner of the room had one of those rugs protecting you from the hardwood, but you barely made contact with it because of all the other soft things Bucky had gifted you with. There was a beanbag chair, floor pillows, blankets, and so. many. plushies. It became your favorite part of the house. Whenever you felt overwhelmed or scared, coming to this corner and burying yourself under the weight of your fuzzy friends always helped.
Bucky knew how much this space meant to you, so he made a silent promise to keep it well-maintained. He kept the proper plushie cleaning supplies on hand, and only his most trusted employees could wash the blankets and pillow coverings while you two were away. He also stuck to buying you stuffed animals that were made of a fabric you liked, large, and without any hard or overly detailed bits. He wanted you to feel like you were laying on the softest cloud.
Not all of your plushies fit his rigid expectations, though. You had your plushies from before Bucky became your caregiver, gifts from loved ones, and if you saw a plushie you wanted, Bucky would always get it for you. Sometimes you’d get poked by a dragon scale or land part of your body on a dense plush and part on a flimsy one, but your stuffies were your friends. And you could simply say “excuse me, miss rabbit” and place her next to your stuffed lizard while you placed the much softer elephant plush behind your back.
It was 5 pm and Bucky was on his way home. Natasha was lucky enough to be in charge of watching you while Bucky was working today. He always had at least one bodyguard stationed to protect you. You weren’t always aware of this, as Bucky didn’t want to scare your little self, but he felt it was necessary. If you weren’t aware of the bodyguard, it was because you were feeling a bit bigger. On those days, the bodyguard only had to keep an eye on the security cameras outside and occasionally send someone to check the perimeter of the house.
Today, you were feeling very little. You were especially clingy towards Bucky in the morning, crying whenever he tried putting you down. He hated leaving you like this, but he had a very important deal to manage and his associate surely would’ve pulled out if he wasn’t there in person. He called Natasha because she could provide the companionship and protection that you needed. You were still fussy when Bucky tried handing you off, but Natasha’s promise of playing games and ordering pizza convinced you to let go of Bucky.
Throughout the day, Natasha texted Bucky pictures of what you were up to. He especially loved the picture of you cuddled up to Natasha with the most wondrous look on your face as you rewatched Aladdin for the thousandth time. It was killing him that he couldn’t come back to you right away or even stop to take a call, but he couldn’t risk alerting more people to your existence and possibly putting a larger target on your back.
On his car ride home, however, he immediately facetimed Natasha so he could hear your voice and see your sweet face. He was disappointed when he didn’t see or hear you. Usually, you’d insist on being the one to answer the call or be hiding just off-screen, but unable to cover up your excited giggles.
“Where’s my baby?”
“My day was great, thanks for asking.”
Bucky huffed. He didn’t have the patience for her sarcasm today. She knew how much he’d been missing you, and she and Bucky had been close friends for so long to the point where these formalities were unnecessary.
“Real funny, now put them on the phone.”
“Your baby’s asleep in their pile of stuffed animals, we had a dance party and they wore themselves out.”
Bucky narrowed his eyes slightly. “You danced to their disney playlist?”
“I merely observed and kept an eye out for any threats like you hired me to do,” Natasha said, nonchalantly looking at her nails.
Bucky chuckled to himself, he knew Natasha was softer than she let on, especially with you. Your little self was just so loving and kind, it was impossible to not melt into a puddle of goo around you and do absolutely whatever you wanted. He sometimes came home to the two of you taking a nap together with you clinging to Natasha as she laid on the side closer to the door and shielded part of your body with hers.
“Alright, Natty I’ll be there in three minutes and I want you out of my house by then.”
“Yeah I didn’t wanna see your sick face in person anyway.”
With that declaration of gratitude and undying friendship, they hung up leaving Bucky to think about what he’d do with you when he got home. He gave the chef the night off so he could make you your favorite pasta. Bucky didn’t always have the time or energy to cook but relished the moments where he could do it for you. The simplicity and domesticity of it all made him feel grounded. It also made him feel good to provide for you, and he couldn’t resist your hums of satisfaction or when you’d say that no one made pasta as good as he did.
Although, it wasn’t dinner time yet, and Bucky’s perfect baby was currently dozing off in a mountain of softness. He hoped you’d be up for staying in the cozy corner for a while and maybe watching a movie there after dinner. He couldn’t wait to snuggle up with you in your nest.
The car finally pulled into the driveway and Bucky sprinted inside the house, up the stairs, and to your room. You were exactly how he pictured, nestled in the middle of your stuffed animal pile with a blanket covering you and a plushie in your arms. As to not disturb you, he quietly went next door to his room so he could change into some cuddle-appropriate attire. When he came back, you were slowly waking up, blinking away your tiredness.
“Natty?” you croaked.
“Hey, munchkin, it’s me.”
Your face lit up as you gasped and made grabby hands towards Bucky. He joined you in your pile, caging you in his arms as he peppered your face with kisses.
“Did you miss me, bubs?”
You grabbed his face with your hands. “So so so much!”
He scrunched his nose as you returned his flurry of kisses, inviting you to end your attack with one kiss on the bridge. He joined you under the blanket, arranging you so you were laying on his chest.
“What did you do with Natty today?”
Bucky listened as you gleefully told him what you and the redhead got up to. You told him all about the dance moves Natasha did, your eyes widening when you realized what you had just said. He managed not to crack a smile when you made him promise not to tell Natasha that he knew about her dancing today. She hadn’t sworn you to secrecy, of course. You just caught onto the fact that she didn’t show parts of herself to other people and assumed that she was shy. While you weren’t entirely correct, Bucky loved how observant and considerate you were.
Eventually, your stomach grumbles alerted Bucky to the fact that it was dinner time. He carried you downstairs and let you sit on the counter as he prepared your pasta. He let you pick music to play while he cooked, dancing with you as the water boiled and sneaking a kiss every now and then. He also let you stir a few times and place a garnish on the two dishes.
“This looks delicious, bubba! Thank you for helping me cook.” Bucky held you as you wiggled happily from his compliment.
You skipped to the dinner table with Bucky following behind, carrying the food. Following his caregiver duties, he pushed your chair in for you and poured some juice into a sippy cup. He also decided to feed you because you were still feeling very little.
You ate your pasta without any fuss like a good baby, even letting Bucky wipe your face with a damp cloth after and saying thank you. He carried you back upstairs and gave you a quick bath before changing you into some pajamas and sitting you on the bathroom counter as he took a shower. He wanted you to wait on the bed, but you didn’t want to let him out of your sight.
Your full belly and warm bath were starting to make you sleepy, but you powered through it so you could soak in this time with Bucky. After he was clean and dressed, he picked you up again and put you in the same position as before in your cozy corner with you on his chest. This time, he brought the tv remote with him and put on one of the animated films you had been dying to watch.

Ty for opening my eyes to the truth that Aegon I was really just a kind of boring literally sterile blank slate everyone else projected their needs onto and Visenya capitalized on. All he had going for him was the biggest lizard and being a dude. Visenya was given a fail husband and she turned that into 300 years of targ rule. What a queen
Any thoughts on Rhaenys I? Despite the horrible death and mutilation she still is the luckiest of the three bc Aenys was born with white hair and her just fucking around and having fun as far as we can tell was largely ignored/accepted/dismissed by her family.
in fire and blood aegon i is such a cardboard cutout and i want to believe that it’s commentary about how people who cast such large shadows in history are cursed to never be fully known or understood as humans. but maybe he’s moving in silence and just happened to never write anything down or say anything particularly exciting in front of witnesses for the historical record.
Rhaenys i is an enigma to me. I think she gets remembered as the woman one and not an individual person by a lot of people within the narrative but i think it’s more fair to say she’s the most human of the three of them. She’s the Renly of the three. She seems to be the most in touch with the cultural and social aspects of conquest and ruling so it’s not super surprising that things go right back to fuck it we’re ruling through fear when she dies and leaves Visenya in charge. Also fucking bards on the low and having her son by one be the king through which all targaryens are descended from was pretty cool and i mean that 100% seriously

(Here's another screenshot edit I commissioned from @paimaniagalaxia. This is from 'The VVV' episode. Right now, that one is my favorite because we get to see a lot of Black Hat. As you can see, there are stark differences in Esther and Black Hat's facial expressions. Even though she loves her Uncle, she doesn't always condone his actions. For example, making Flug fight Mascara Macabra while he was controlling Dementia. Here's how I think this scene would play out with Esther.)
Dementia straightened up as the mask finally took full control of her. "Yes, yes." She said as she turned back around. Her voice was synthesized and sounded like both her voice and a mans were talking at the same time. "This host is so much stronger. Esto es increíble! This girl is a real monster." She flexed and felt her biceps. She glared up at the screen with a big grin on her face. "Well, Charrito? How many more do I break for you to come down?"
Black Hat merely cocked his eyebrows at her and Esther looked up at him. Everyone else in the arena turned to Flug, who now had a spotlight shining on him. The scientist made some terrified noises as he realized that he was going to have to go up against Dementia. Everyone started laughing.
Dementia briefly look of disbelief on her face. "What? You're kidding me? That lunch bag?" She started laughing as well.
Black Hat threw down his glass of 'wine' and laughed as well. Esther had a look of fear and worry on her face. They couldn't really expect Flug to fight her, right? When she felt her Uncle wrap his free hand around her to hold her in place she knew he ment it. She leaned against her Uncles chest and tried to find some form of comfort in his heaving form.
Black Hat spoke when he was done laughing. "Doctor, be a lad and bring her back."
He gave his boss a nervous look. "Uh, sir. Wouldn't it be easier to put a job posting online instead?"
Black Hat gently nudged Esther off of his lap and she moved to stand beside his throne. He literally phased through the screens with a terrifying look on his face. He glared at Flug and drooled a bit. "OBEY!"
Flug was transformed into a luchador uniform. A purple mask with red accents around the eyes appeared on his paper bag. He now sported a purple tank top with red accents on the straps. A sandwich picture was plastered right in the middle of the tank top. A white elbow-length fingerless glove covered his left arm. Instead of a glove on his right arm, there was a gold-colored wrist cuff. His shorts were also purple with red on the bottom. His shoes were red as well and he hand on white knee braces.
"Sorry, sir." Stammered Flug. "Just getting rattling, sir."
He made his way to the wrestling ring. "Of course, it had to be me." He fumed to himself. "I don't get paid enough to clean up after this lizard brain mess everytime-" He cut himself off when he tried to climb into the ring and briefly got tangled in the rubber wires.
Dementia laughed when he fell flat on his face. "I’ve had tacos with more spice than-"
Flug stood up and brushed himself off. "Shut up, you uncreative parasite!"
"Let's find out if your whole body fits inside that little bag!" She then charged at him on all fours.
Flug flinched. "That must be a metaphor, right?"
The announcer popped in behind him. "No. No, it's not."
He gained a hard look on his face. "Is that so?" He struck a pose. "Hat bots, attack!"
Two huge hat bots landed in the ring. One had on a leopard print luchador uniform and the other had on a green and pink one.
"What a twist, ladies and gentlemen!" Exclaimed the announcer. "Will El Alebrije be able to defeat that pair of mechanical grills?" Flug turned to leave but was stopped when the announcer spoke again. "Aaaand, they're junk."
The scientist turned back around in disbelief. "But, how?"
Dementia laughed on top of the now ruined robots, their heads in her hands. "You're next, bolsa!" She literally ran her tongue over her sharp teeth.
Esther glanced at her Uncle and noticed he was completely engrossed in the fight. She quietly took a few steps back and teleported herself next to the ring. Summoning a small glass platform, she hopped on it and peeked into the ring. She looked just in time to see Flug starting to panic. He turned to the crowd and quickly found 505. "Quickly, 505! Hand me the Tranquilizator!"
The bear turned to him and shrugged. It looked like Flug was trying to not lose it. "What do you mean you don't have it?! I thought we brought it!"
He turned around to see Dementia wrap her hair around him and toss him across the ring. When he sat up she was looming over him.
"What's wrong, chico holgado? Are you scared?" She said mockingly.
Esther couldn't take it anymore. She climbed into the ring and ran straight for Dementia.
"Dementia," Said Flug. "stop this at once."
She wagged a finger at him. “There is no more Dementia. Just Mascara MacabraAAAAHHH!”
She yelled when Esther pulled on her long hair. Flug jumped and his sights immediately went to the small preteen. “Esther?!”
“Esther!” Thundered Black Hat. Fear could be heard seeping into his words. “What do you think you are doing, young lady?!”
“Saving Dementia!” She answered.
Dementia yanked her hair out of her hands and turned to her. “Kid, get out of here. I don't fight children. They’re too easy to beat.”
Esther glared at her and kicked her in the shin. The older woman merely grunted. “Let Dementia go right now!” She made an attempt to punch her, but the older woman grabbed her by the back of the shirt. When she was lifted at eye level with her she took the opportunity to kick her in the chin. “I said let her go, right now!”
Dementia rubbed her chin as Esther tried to reach for the mask. “Okay. I’ll make an exception for you.”
The small preteen was about to say something, but Dementia threw her out of the ring before she could even make a sound. Before she hit the ground black shadows swallowed her and she was dropped onto someones lap. She looked up to see her Uncle.
“That was idiotic and dangerous, young lady.” He scolded as he wrapped his arms around her. “Let the adults handle this. You’re much too young to be getting directly involved with advanced villains like Mascara Macabra.”
Esther sighed as guilt gripped her. “I know. I just wanted to help. I’m afraid for Dr. Flug and Dementia.”
Black Hat briefly petted her head. “I know, baby.”
“Am I in trouble?”
“Not this time. I’m not going to punish you for trying to help someone. But, I except you to stay with me until this is over. Understand? You gave me quite the scare”
“Yes, sir and I’m sorry”
“Good.” He shifted so she would be more comfortable and kissed her on the head. “It’s okay. Now, let’s see how Flug handles this, shall we?”

UT Month Day 11: Grillby
“well, the weekend’s over. back on that sentry grindset, i guess. first though, give me the usual. how about that good crystal glass your ancestor brought from the surface, huh?”
Actually, it was plastic, and Sans had to know that at this point, but nevertheless, Grillby filled it with ketchup, plopping in a few ice cubes, and set it in front of Sans, who sipped it daintily.
“BROTHER!”
The second skeleton brother stormed in, holding hands with the ‘weird-looking monster child they adopted from the capital’. “SANS, ARE YOU ALREADY ON BREAK?! WHAT TIME IS IT?!”
“hmmm…” Sans glanced at his wrist.
“WELL???”
“i dunno, bro, i don’t have a watch.”
“SANS!!!!”
“hehehe.”
The human child (that’s what they really were, Grillby knew, but who was he to judge by species?) giggled. Papyrus sighed. “YOU HAD BETTER BE BACK TO WORK BY TEN MINUTES OR I RAISE THE ROOF!!! NYEH HEH HEH!”
‘Piggy back?’ signed the little human, tilting their head.
With dignity, Papyrus lifted up the human child and placed them on his shoulders. “NOW, OFF WE GO! WE’RE GOING TO CAPTURE…SOMETHING! NYEH HEH HEH!”
Grillby tapped the table. He communicated in morse code, with the red bird lady supposedly translating for him. But…she didn’t actually know a lick of morse code. He said, ‘I wonder what they’ll do if they actually find a human.’
“Grillbz says the crystal glasses are in unusually good condition for glasses so old,” the bird lady explained laconically. Everyone–Sans and Lesser Dog were the bar’s current occupations–ignored her.
‘You really can’t translate morse code,’ Grillby tapped. The sound of his taps were surprisingly echoey and orotund. And Grillby couldn’t shake the feeling that the bar seemed emptier than usual.
“Grillby says thank you for translating, and someone should totally go out with me,” announced the red bird lady.
No one paid the slighted attention. The red bird lady probably should have tried that when more people were around.
After ten minutes passed and Papyrus didn’t immediately charge in, Sans got a bit uneasy. Or, as uneasy as you can get when you were Sans. Grillby noticed, but didn’t pry. Sans ordered another ketchup, and another. Before long an hour had passed of Grillby filling up fake crystal plastic goblets full of ketchup and washing them and filling them up again.
Finally, Sans stood up. “welp, look who’s outside again.”
Grillby looked around and tilted his head.
Sans chuckled. His pupils disappeared. Grillby was one of the few who wasn’t the least bit bothered by this. It seemed more desperate to Grillby than menacing. “looks like my human kid is treating the timeline as their chew toy. or, are they? sometimes it feels like there must be someone else pulling the strings.”
Grillby stared. Sans, what the hell are you talking about? And why do I feel like I’ve been here before?
“see ya round, grillby.” And with that, Sans swerved and took his leave.
No one was at the bar anymore. Time passed.
Grillby couldn’t tell how long it had been. Usually, Grillby’s was bustling with gossip and activity and failed flirters. It was so rare that no one was here at all that Grilby had no idea what to do with himself.
His identity, he reflected, was largely centered around other people. Despite not even being able to communicate with them, he was almost always around other folks. He was the observer, the listener. Simultaneously he was completely isolated and totally social. He had even taken to writing a (fireproof) book about the people of the town. But he had read Miss Buncle’s Book and wasn’t sure if he wanted to take the risk to show his writing to anyone. Not that he could say “Hey, I’m writing a book, wanna read it?” No one here knew morse code.
And yet, Grillby had an ominous feeling, like Grillby’s had been like this before, and it was totally unnatural.
The door creaked open. A yellow lizard monster hurried in. “Grillby!” she exclaimed. “A-are you okay?”
‘Yes,’ tapped Grillby, but he had long since given up on an answer.
The lizard monster’s eyes widened. “Oh my goodness, y-you speak in morse code! Okay, okay, I’m a little rusty b-but…” The lizard monster tapped ‘We have to evacuate you’ onto the table.
Grillby stared blankly. First of all, meeting another monster who knew morse code was a shock after all this time of thinking he was the only one. Second of all…what did she mean, evacuate?
“I-I’ll explain when we get to our safe space. For now, we need to r-reduce your body mass and put you in a jar for transportation,” began the monster.
Grillby raised an eyebrow. ‘Why?’
The lizard monster took a deep breath. “A k-k-k-killer human is loose and k-killed m-most of the r-residents of Snowdin. I-I’m surprised they p-passed you up, but…th-thank angel they did…”

Lizard: *who just came from the CP island is looking like this:*
Tumblr media
and this
Tumblr media
Lizard: Hey guys. You look great.
Chopper: *extremely concerned* What happened to you
Lizard: Oh you know landed on a island. Turned that the CP goons were there and old Rob won't let me leave until i trained with him and then I had to beg him to train me and he said that even through he agreed to train me. He wasn't gonna let me leave unless I beat him. I greatly overestimated my strength.
Zoro: Well done in beating him Lizard. I didn't know you had it in you.
Lizard: *laughs manically* I didn't beat him.
Sanji: But you said..
Lizard: I Know but hes just super strong and he wouldn't hold back. So I had to trick him and run. So....
Nami: So what
Lizard: We have about five minutes or less until he gets here to drag me back.
Nami: LETS GO. MOVE IT PEOPLE
Robin: COME ON WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAY LETS GO GO GO NOW
I think that once she's training with CP9 and really starts bulking up, she realizes she has secretly had the same kind of build as her father this whole time she just couldn't tell because she wasn't able to fill it out properly.
Lizard probably ran up to the Thousand Sunny screaming to get the boat ready to go and naturally they did not question this and set sail with Luffy being in charge of pulling Lizard on board.
She explains the deal her and Lucci had, and how she has been making attempts to leave for the past three months. None of them worked because Lucci is just as hard to trick as he is to fight. They ask how she got away, and she gets this guilty look on her face.
Lizard: Well... I talked to Kaku and was able to get him to fight Lucci long enough for me to run.
Zoro: I didn't think you two were close enough for that.
Lizard: We're not, I kinda had to make a deal with him.
Lucky, getting nervous: What did you do?
Lizard: I may have promised that I would... um... getyoutogooutwithhim?
Lucky: Why would you do that?!
Lizard: I was desperate! Besides, Lucci probably killed him when he realized what he was doing, so it's fine!
Kaku is not dead and he fully intends to cash in on this favor once he's recovered.

A Dragons Refuge In Frost
Tumblr media
This story is for random-vore-blog and using their OC Titanus Thiro Gengo
Warning:This story contains soft,safe,half-size vore,fearplay,unwilling pred,aftercare
Gengo POV.
I glance at the giant ape who drags me by my wing and I weakly attempt to charge my laser but he just swats my head with the back of his hand and the already weak yellow blast sputters out.He approaches a large lava waterfall and roars at a few other great apes and they throw a few boulders in front of a lava waterfall which splits and I see a cave behind it as he raises a large whip with a crystal at the end and I hear a loud roar shake the earth and the other great apes run as fast as they can away from the opening.I'm shoved towards the cave and a giant white titan with bone chains wrapped around its neck.It looks at me and says"Oh,hello"In a very pained tone but with a gentle undertone and a soft look on a very strained face when the Great ape says"Ice beast, eat this intruder”before holding his whip up at her and she looks at me in horror before jerking her head down and snarling in pain and I scramble back to my feet and open my wings to get as far from the titan as possible but the moment they are fully open I feel a sharp pain lash though my left wing and I turn to see the tip of the whip going straight through the membrane and tearing down my wing for at least twenty meters.I turn and see the giant titan walking towards me and softly saying"I'm sorry,I'm so sorry"I turn to run but realize that the great apes are blocking the path and I feel a long scaly appendage wrapping around me and turn to see her tail around my midsection. She lift me into the air as I flail and begin charging another laser but am cute off as she flicks my mouth shut with her tail and fear seeps over my body and I begin slowly shrinking down as the tail tightens to match the smaller size that I have reached and she look at me with interest when she jerks over from pain and looks at me as I feel tears welling up in my eyes"P-please don't"I say in a shakey tone. She stares at me and I see tears appearing at the corners of her eyes but another pained expression appears on her face and she opens her mouth and a strange blue glow emanates from inside of her.She gently places my head onto her tongue and I feel cold breaths flowing over my body with a shiver as I burst out struggling and hear her whimper in pain but she continues pulling more of my torso into her maw and my head reaches her throat, punctuated with a deep swallow.Tears stream down my muzzle and I try to open my wings to make myself impossible to swallow when she simply opens her mouth wider to take the wings in and only now do I realize how much smaller I've turned. She easily swallows me down and I bring my wings closer to myself to stop them from being broken. She swallows heavily one last time and I'm pushed fully into her throat.
Shimo POV.
I sadly swallow down the last of the dragon-like titan and send her down into my crop. The horrible ape points the whip back to my cave and I walk back in with a small jolt of pain. The lava closes behind me so I listen carefully for the ape to leave before looking down to my chest and saying"He's horrible isn't he?”I hear a shaky voice say"P-please,d-dont kill m-me”I rub where my crop is and say"Don't worry,I can't digest anything in my crop,it's not even a stomach but the act of swallowing was technically following his order, you're okay"I hear them sigh in huge relief before saying"Can you let me out now, please?”I give a sad growl and say"No,sorry,he'll kill you if he sees you again,I'm sorry but I'm not gonna let you out, yet”I feel them roll over and say"W-when will you let me out?”I softly say"Whenever I can little one, whenever I can"I squeeze my crop around her softly before laying back down and let myself drift off to sleep.
Two years later
I reel back in pain as the giant lizard titan slams into me and knocks me against a building when I notice a smaller ape slamming the ax into the horrible crystal and I watch in wonder as it shatters. The lizard titan says"Well, are you gonna take revenge, you have a chance now?”I turn and realization spreads over my face as the ape yells”KILL THEM!”At me.I open my mouth as blue light begins filling my mouth and I fire at him, striking him straight in the chest, freezing him solid. The bigger ape steps towards the frozen one and stares at him for a moment before lashing out and shattering him into pieces.I turn to the sky again and say"Oh,oh no,the ice age,it's starting"The lizard-like titan aims into the sky and another one of his lasers begins charging and he fires it straight up,splitting the ice storm.I feel a tired movement in my crop, turning to the water I tread out and easily stride over the rapidly freezing water and after a few minutes of running I arrive at an abandoned island.I lean forwards and open my mouth widely before tightening the crop and pushing Gengo up.They slide up my throat and I open my mouth before gently laying them at my feet and happily wait for them to wake up.
Gengo POV.
My eyes open slowly as I roll onto my back in the……warm sand.I look up and cover my my eyes from the light, what happened?I blink for a good five minutes before my eyes adjust to light again and turn back to see Shimo standing there with a happy smile and I question"Is he…….?”She nods excitedly and say"We’re free now my friend,we're free"I charge at her and wrap my wings around her as best I can in a hug.I have already returned back to my normal size long ago but it feels so nice to finally stretch my wings out again. She uses one leg to hug me to her chest and purrs happily"I forgot what you looked like,it's been so long since you've been out"She happily says.I respond with"Me too,but now we can finally see each other"She smiles at me before looking down and stopping for a moment before looking up with a slightly forced smile and I say"What's wrong Shimo,I thought you'd be happier for our freedom?”She looks at me and I see small crystals falling from her eyes before she says"A-are you going to leave now?”In a clearly upset tone.I stare at her in shock before saying"You protected me from that monsters cruelty for years, comforted me during rougher days no matter how horrible I was to you,you know me better than anyone and I think that I know you as well,I don't think I could leave if I wanted to"She holds her front legs out to me and I walk up to hug her.She lets me go before slamming her legs into the ground and says"How about we play something, hide and seek,I win and we get more cuddle time, what do you want if you win?”I think for a second and say"I don't know but I'll think about it"She look up and says"You have two minutes,go hide"I run off onto the island as I quickly shrink down and slip into a cave so small that there is no way Shimo will even see it.
Shimo POV.
One hundred and eighteen, one hundred and nineteen, one hundred and twenty.I open my eyes and yell"READY OR NOT,HERE I COME"I walk through the dense forest and notice a small golden glow under coming from a cave I never would have noticed.I walk over to the cave and lean down to see them staring at me.I smile and step back as they crawl out and I lick over the entirety of their body.I use my tongue to pull her head into my and get saliva all over her as she pulls back and shakes it off onto my face.I pull back in disgust but lay down and say"I win,now we cuddle"They roll their eyes but lay against my stomach and I curl up around my little friend.I notice how she leans into my touch despite how she finally has a choice not too and realize how touchy of a person she is.I gently snuggle up to her when I hear a confused growl and look up before seeing the ape from earlier,I snap into a protective position and rapidly pull Gengo under me before snarling down at him.He quickly says"I'm not your enemy, just came to check on you,is that your friend"I begin slowly swaying my tail back and forth before saying"Yeah, what of it?’He nods before confusedly asking"Where were they?”I point down at my crop before saying"That ape tried to make me eat them,I didn't kill them"I lower myself and wrap around Gengo again. The ape turns to walk away and I wave at him as he enters the water, leaving for wherever.I look down at Gengo and say"I'm going to find us a new home, hope you don't mind being stored until then"They shake their head and I open my maw before gently slipping their head into my mouth, swallowing them down gently and reaching halfway down their body, where they carefully pull their wings around themselves.I quickly finish swallowing before approaching the water, which freezes under me.I rub my crop and say"Let's find us a good home, somewhere we can live and play, without interruption"I hear them jokingly say”How about the arctic"I laugh but quickly stop and say"Wait, maybe that will actually work?”She rubs the wall of my crop and says"Wherever you decide,I'm just along for the ride,my friend”

rivers run dry | gally x oc
masterlist
summary: the four times gally cried in the glade, and one time he cried while escaping it.
word count: 4k
warnings: suicide, death, suicidal thoughts, nightmares, knives, blood, bodily fluids
a/n: so gally is my sweet baby boy and i have a feeling he masks his feelings and never lets himself cry. this one shot started out from that basic idea and then i decided to add in a love interest oc. jaelin is definitely flawed as you'll see, but she's also my baby and i will probably write more about her.
jaelin is named after "jael" from the bible. when israel was getting attacked by (some foreign army), the guy in charge of the israelite soldiers chickened out, and the leader of the attackers escaped, but jael, an israelite woman, lured him into her tent and was like "take a nap here while i make you a snack" and then while he was asleep she hammered a tent peg through his temple (he died lol). so she became the hero of the battle! pretty badass, if you ask me.

jaelin is played by jasmin savoy brown
In all his time in the Glade, Gally had only cried four times. He'd felt close to tears hundreds of times; at least once a week if not once a day, but the tears only fell four times. He only let them fall four times.
The first time Gally cried in the Glade was when he came up in the Box. He was jammed into the tight, confined space with what seemed to be twenty other boys, with no memory of who he was and the sinking feeling that he was hurtling up towards death. The smells of vomit, sweat, and urine mingled in the air, Gally unsure if his neighbor had pissed himself or if Gally himself was the culprit. When the Box slammed to a halt, the possibility that he'd pissed his pants became less of a priority, the crying and yelling of the boys pausing when a tall boy at the front climbed out of the Box to check their surroundings.
“It's a clearing, surrounded by walls too high to climb,” the boy observed, as he scanned the dark, evening-shadowed Glade. “But nothing too dangerous. It looks like it's made to be lived in.” At this affirmation of safety, the sweaty boys started clambering to leave the confined space. Gally hung back, not wanting to be trampled—or, considering his large frame, accidentally trample someone else. Eventually though, he was pulled out of the Box with the other stragglers, a wiry, tall boy with sharp eyes and brown hair taking control. Thin, wire-frame glasses sat on the bridge of his nose. Trying to assess the situation, the boy asked,
“Does anyone remember anything?” A chorus of names rang out but no other information seemed retrievable, some boys still at a loss for what their names were. Gally had remembered his name as an older, dark-skinned boy had helped him out of the Box. “I'm Nick,” the self-appointed leader stated. “That's all I remember, and it seems like whoever put us here might have made us forget everything on purpose.” A murmur of agreement rose amongst the group, one blond boy remarking,
“They've given us supplies to start a homestead in this Glade, whoever they are.” Gally noticed an interesting lilt in his voice. He was British. Gally also noticed that he was right. The supplies in the Box were for building; starting a life here…and that scared Gally.
The dark-skinned boy who'd helped Gally out of the Box was standing next to Nick, obviously taking the spot of Second-in-Command. He addressed the group, “My name's Alby. And I think this blondie here is right. What's your name, Blondie?”
“Newt,” the Brit answered.
“Like a lizard?” another kid spoke up. Newt rolled his eyes,
“No. It's short for Newton. I just have this feeling that I was always just Newt, before. Whatever before was.”
“Newt, it is, then,” the other boy shrugged. “I'm George.”
“Alright, introductions later,” Nick interrupted. “For now, let's unload the Box. Then we'll figure out where to go from there.” In robotic, shocked motions, the boys got to work, Gally's mind numb and void of memories, but buzzing with an odd feeling about something important.
It hit him then, how shitty and confusing this situation was. He felt so utterly alone. He had this sinking feeling that loneliness had been a common variable in his before, and he had a feeling that would remain true even now, in the Glade.
Much to Gally's chagrin, tears pricked his eyes as the panic caused by the amnesia found a grip around his heart. The boy tried to hold the tears back for as long as possible, but the desire—the need—to cry was overpoweringly large, and as quick as they'd formed, droplets were rolling down Gally's face and onto his shirt.
Gally was sobbing, and anyone could see him.
Newt was the only one brave enough to approach Gally. Every other boy in the Glade had shrunk back, obviously intimidated by Gally's height and strength, despite his current state. However, Gally's height advantage over everyone but Alby didn't seem to intimidate Newt.
“Hey, Bud, are you alright?” Newt asked, placing a gentle hand on Gally's broad shoulder. It took Gally a second or two to gain enough composure to whisper,
“Yeah.” Of course, that was a lie; none of them were fine, but Newt let it slide.
“What's your name?” the British boy inquired.
“Gally.”
“Well, it's nice to meet you, Gally. You're pretty strong, it looks like. Care to help move and sort these building supplies?” The offer was an olive branch, and Gally knew that he wouldn't be judged for refusing and staying here to cry some more. But the word “building” seemed to reignite a spark in him; give him a reason to get up.
“I think I'm supposed to build stuff, he mumbled, the epiphany lighting up a once-dull face with hopeful determination.
Newt looked surprised, but then grinned, declaring, “Then build, you will!” He offered a hand to Gally, who let himself be pulled to his feet. Newt looked his age—maybe younger, even—but there was a nurturing air about him that made Gally trust him enough to follow him.
Drying his tears, Gally followed Newt to the building materials, ready to jump right in.
The second time Gally cried in the Glade was when Jaelin told him she wanted to die. Jaelin was the only female Glader, and her intended role was still unclear—at least, as far as what the Creators wanted. However, she'd adjusted well during her first year in the Glade, almost becoming “one of the boys.” She'd made it clear that she wasn't interested in romance, and was badass enough to kick your ass if you tried anything funny. The first two guys were humiliated enough for all the other Gladers to get the memo—you did not mess with Jaelin.
Jaelin could see past Gally's tough exterior to the light within, even when he couldn't see it himself. She had this talent of bringing out the best in him. In everyone. He trusted her with his life. All his struggles, secrets, and slip-ups were hers to know.
He always felt extra special when she'd share something in return, but he never could've prepared himself for the way Jaelin's sunny face dropped, her body slumping against his as she mumbled, “I'm so tired of all of this. Of the monotony. The loneliness. I want to end it.”
Gally's heart immediately skipped a beat, his mind racing as he muttered, “No, no, Jaelin. No, you can't. Jaelin, please.” The teenage girl just looked up at him pleadingly, those doe eyes filled with desperation.
“Gally, you don't get it. You don't understand what it's like.”
“I know I don't, but I care too much to let you give up,” he argued, unsure of how to show her that she was needed. A blurry image of him chiseling a line through her name popped into his head, and he felt tears rush to his eyes, seemingly out of the blue. “I know it's selfish as hell, Jae, but I can't lose you,” Gally confessed. “I don't know how I'd survive without you.”
Almost of their own accord, his arms wrapped around Jaelin, enveloping her in a warm, secure embrace. She didn't fight it, slowly wrapping her own arms around Gally's waist. She could feel his face pressed into her hair—which she didn't mind, seeing as her face was smushed against his chest—and from the vibrations of his sternum, Jaelin had a feeling the boy was crying. She'd never witnessed him crying before. She knew he was being exceptionally vulnerable, all in an attempt to reach her and pull her from such dark depths.
Gally knew his tears were dripping down his face and onto Jaelin's hair, and he truly hoped she didn't mind, because there was no way he was letting go. He'd hold onto Jaelin for the rest of time to keep her safe, if need be.
“Jaelin, please don't go,” he murmured, body shaking as tears poured from his eyes. “I'll do anything.” Gally felt the girl's body go completely lax as a small wet mark appeared on his shirt, right where her eyes were. She was crying, too. “Jae?” he asked, concerned.
“I'm okay,” came the soft reply, Gally becoming hyper aware of Jaelin's warm breath blowing across his chest through his thin shirt. Gally's hand automatically found her hair, running through it in soothing repetition. Of course, he'd done that before, but this was a different dynamic. A different purpose. Not playful or teasing, just “I love you and I'm here.”
“Are you?” Gally questioned. It wasn't that he didn't believe her—far from it—but he just wanted to make sure she had a good grasp on her mental state.
“Well, I'm doing better than a few minutes ago,” Jaelin clarified. Gally nodded,
“Good. Now, is it safe for me to let you go? You're going to be smart, right? You're not going to try to hurt yourself, right?”
“Right,” Jaelin agreed. “I'm going to help you finish Builders' inventory, and then eat dinner with you, and then hang out with you.” As she said this, Jaelin used her long sleeves to dry Gally's face of the remaining tears he'd shed for her, the small but kind gesture making the teenage boy's heart soar.
“That sounds like a good plan,” he chuckled, standing up and pulling Jaelin up with him.
“Where to, Captain Gally?” the girl joked. Gally laughed, accepting her offer to link arms.
“To storage!” And off the mismatched pair went.
The third time Gally cried in the Glade was when he was stung. Now, Gally wasn't stupid—he knew that as a non-Runner, he wasn't allowed to enter the Maze. And Gally, being the stickler for rules that he was, would over the rule of the Glade till his dying breath.
But, of course, everyone has a weakness. Everyone has something that would make them risk it all, just to secure some kind of finality for whatever that something is. Or in Gally's case, someone. Jaelin.
Looking back, it was clear to Gally that Jaelin was just as much of a rule-follower as he was. Jaelin would never enter the Maze when the rules clearly forbid it. She appreciated order; swore by it. No, Gally should never have thought that Jaelin might have entered the Maze. It wasn't in her nature. And he learned from this mistake; Gally did. Yes, he suffered for it dearly.
It had been a few weeks since Jaelin had opened up about being suicidal, and much to Gally's relief, she'd remained open and happy to accept help. She even told Gally herself that she was doing better, which he was glad about. And seeing Jaelin smile again? Gosh, it made Gally's days complete, filling his stony heart with meager fragments of hope. Small, but definitely there. Everything felt as it should be in Gally's book.
But then one day, Jaelin was nowhere to be found. Gally checked all their usual spots and even the obscure ones, several Gladers helping, but the girl seemed to have vanished. No one could figure out what happened. And then Gally found the note on his desk that simply read, ‘“I love you ~J.” His breath caught in his throat, mind racing to connect the dots as he came to the conclusion,
“She went into the Maze to end her life.” Alby just stared at Gally, not moving, and the boy grew impatient, grunting angrily, “Fine! I'll go after her myself!” Before anyone could stop him, Gally rushed into the Maze.
Jaelin, who'd retreated to the tallest tree in the Deadheads in an attempt to be alone, didn't become aware of what was happening until she heard the screams of a stung Glader being rushed to a Med-hut. As a Med-jack, she was supposed to be there. The girl found herself rushing there as fast as possible in order to find out who the unlucky sting victim was.
When Jaelin saw Gally thrashing against his bonds on a medical cot, her heart stopped.
Her first thought was that as a Builder, Gally never should have been in the Maze. So why the hell had he gone into the Maze?
She got her answer when the boys surrounding Gally saw her and gave varying exclamations of,
“Jaelin!”
“Where were you?”
“We've been looking for you!”
Jaelin was confused by this, questioning their concern about her whereabouts with a quick explanation as to where she was, confused and shocked when Newt cussed loudly.
“Will someone tell me what's going on and why Gally got stung?” the girl pleaded. Of course, the answer was not one she expected—or wanted—to hear.
“He was trying to find you,” Minho said flatly. “Found your note, convinced himself it was a suicide note, and ran into the Maze.” Jaelin's jaw dropped, hands coming up to cover her mouth as guilt started to toss and turn in her stomach.
“So why'd you leave a note like that if you weren't going to kill yourself?” Newt snapped. Jaelin winced, knowing this was a touchy subject for the second-in-command. “Jaelin, that's basically the exact note I left Alby, and Gally was here, then, remember?”
“It was a love confession!” Jaelin spat out, embarrassed to admit to it, given the circumstances, especially. “I didn't think of the similarities to Newt's note, so I'm sorry about that, but honestly, it was just a love confession. If he'd flipped it over, he would've seen that it said, ‘If you feel the same, meet me at the tallest tree in the Deadheads.’”
“So you aren't going to commit suicide?” Alby clarified.
“No!” Jaelin exclaimed, walking over to Gally's side sorrowfully. “It's not even an option. I stick with you guys.”
A look of relief passed over the faces of all the boys in the room, despite the circumstances. Jaelin ignored this, too guilty to think of anyone but Gally.
He'd stopped thrashing, instead trapped in his own head, trying to separate nightmares from memories, which is difficult when most of your memories are as horrific as nightmares. Jaelin was able to loosely clap his right hand in both of hers, his hands significantly larger than hers.
“No!” Startled, Jaelin looked down at the boy, who was still trapped in his mind, obviously recalling something awful, because he was whimpering and murmuring phrases like “It hurts” and “Please stop.” Jaelin felt her heart fracture slightly, once again overwhelmed by the thought that this was her fault. It was only made worse when the tears started leaking from Gally's eyes and rolling down his face, sobs becoming more pronounced. The words he'd been muttering became unintelligible, drowned out by his cries.
There he was, Jaelin's strong rock, crying in the middle of the Med-hut.
The girl felt her own eyes start to water at the pained noises coming from Gally's mouth, unable to imagine how much physical and mental pain he was in. Gally's eyes flew open, blue orbs finding her chestnut brown ones, before he screamed,
“Stop! Make it stop!” When he broke down into sobs again, it became clear that he'd been reliving a memory verbally, Jaelin still unable to do anything more than hold his hand and whisper reassuring comforts, placing a cool compress on his forehead to combat his raging fever.
Jaelin used a rag to gently wash Gally's face, removing the tear stains on his cheeks. His tan skin was flushed pink from fever, face breaking out in severe patches of acne from the stress of the Changing. She did her best to treat that, too, even going so far as to wash his hair after his second day, the fever causing extra sweat to find a home in his sandy colored hair. She found herself struggling to leave his side, growing heavy with guilt whenever she tried. So she just stayed by his side, holding his hand, for five days.
“Jae?” came a raspy cough on the afternoon of the fifth day. The girl immediately woke up from where she'd dozed off in the chair next to Gally's bedside.
“Gal? You're back?” she asked, excited but tentative.
“Yeah,” he answered, “I think it's over.” Jaelin let out a sigh of relief, only hesitating for a second before leaping onto cot with Gally to give him the biggest hug she could.
It was Newt, however, not Jaelin, who explained the note and everything that had happened, Jaelin unable to find it within herself to explain again.
When Newt told Gally the vital piece of information he'd missed—Jaelin’s note was a love confession—the boy gasped, a dopey smile landing on his face as he muttered,
“Can you get Jaelin for me?” From the look on his face, Newt assumed the boy returned Jaelin's feelings, but this was confirmed without a doubt when Jaelin walked to Gally's bedside, unable to make eye contact out of nervousness, and Gally whispered, “Jae, look at me.” The girl obeyed, warm brown eyes meeting Gally's deep blue ones. Before Jaelin could say a word, Gally reached up and cupped her face in his hands before guiding her lips to his in a gentle yet passionate kiss.
It was a ‘finally’ kiss, symbolizing two kids finding love against all odds in a place resembling utter hell. And so when Jaelin pulled back for air, a surprised look still frozen on her face, Gally confessed,
“I've had the biggest crush on you for fucking ever.” Newt clucked his tongue, leading Gally to revise his statement. “Sorry, I've had the biggest crush on you for shucking ever.”
Jaelin's face broke into a wide, ecstatic smile. “Really?”
“Yes, Jae, for real,” Gally chuckled.
This was all it took for Jaelin to full-on leap into Gally's arms, the medical cot shifting in protest at the sudden addition of weight. The two teenagers didn't seem to notice or care, too set on colliding with the other's lips again to worry about something so trivial as the integrity of the cot. Jaelin's lips, chapped from nervous biting and dehydration, found Gally's, which were surprisingly soft, mouths brushing in romantic, teasing kisses before she pressed her lips firmly to his, unable to resist the promise of making out with her long time crush.
A low whistle caused Gally and Jaelin to pull apart for a second, observing Minho's triumphant stance in the doorway as he crowed, “Knew it!” Rolling their eyes, the two lovesick Gladers went back to exchanging kisses, all tears from days prior forgotten.
The fourth and final time Gally cried in the Glade was when Jaelin died. More specifically, when Jaelin went crazy and then stabbed herself to death.
Everyone swore they didn't see it coming—didn't expect the self destructive desires in her head to win—but every single one of them was lying. They'd all seen Jaelin start to spiral. But none of them had known how to help her and so, like the cowards they were, they left the girl to sink or swim.Gally hated every single one of them now, himself included.
Jaelin's role as a Med-jack meant that she didn't have one continuous work day, like with the other jobs. Rather, once she finished her daily tasks, she was free until someone called for a Med-jack. She spent lots of time with Gally while he built, and otherwise hung out in the Deadheads to journal. This solitude was good for her—but it ended up being her downfall.
She spent too much time alone with her thoughts, and it made her go insane.
Gally had been working on a building project when it all happened, Jaelin's screams in the middle of the Glade drawing everyone's attention. Gally immediately hurried down the ladder, dropped his tools, and sprinted towards Jaelin, who was holding a knife up to ward off Newt and Alby's attempts to talk her down.
“Jaelin, put the knife down and we can talk about this,” Newt reasoned, Gally falling into place beside the Second-in-Command.
Jaelin's eyes flickered to Gally's for half a second before she turned back to Newt and spat, “No, I won't. I hate it here.” Gally winced as Alby interjected,
“Why do you hate it here?” Jaelin scoffed.
“Why don't I hate it here? I'm stuck in a Glade, surrounded by a Maze filled with monsters, with only guys as company, harboring that knowledge that if at any point you all turned on me together, I'd be powerless to stop it.” Jaelin's chest heaved with emotion as the knife she held in front of her shook.
“We won't turn on you,” Gally insisted firmly, but Jaelin's eyes just flashed,
“Until you do. Until you're all so desperate that you gang up on me and grab me and rape me until I bleed out and die.”
Alby's jaw dropped, Newt shuddered, and Gally's eyes started to water.
“What?” Jaelin screeched. “It'll happen and you know it!” Gally took a step forward, hands outstretched as if to seem unthreatening, but Jaelin screamed again, so he backed away.
“Have you been stung, Jaelin?” Alby asked bluntly, earning a dry chuckle from the girl.
“No, Alby. I'm very much in my right mind at the present. I'm a Realist. I'm thinking realistically.”
Gally shook his head, unable to keep quiet now. “No, Jae! This isn't realistic. And you can't do this. I love you too much, remember?” He got choked up as the first tear slid down his cheek. “I can't survive without you.”
Jaelin's eyes grew cold, “Then die, too.” The girl stabbed the knife into her stomach.
“No!” Gally screamed, floodgates bursting open as Jaelin let a pained yell, yanking the knife out of her body before stabbing again, this time a little further up. “Stop!” Gally begged the girl, who let out some kind of agonized shriek-cackle, her face a confusing mix of defeat and triumph.
As if she was winning and losing at the same time.
She'd stabbed herself at least five times now, blood gushing from seemingly small cuts. Jeff and Clint had rushed over quickly, but she was crazed enough that no one could get close enough to subdue her. Gally tried, but got pulled back by Frypan and Winston right before Jae's knife would have slashed his carotid artery. The blood was coming too fast, anyway. She'd already lost too much.
The girl's grip went slack, the knife sliding out of it in time to hit the ground with her body. She immediately went still, sprawled across the ground, Jeff and Clint hurrying to try and save her, but it was too late. It was only a few minutes later when they got up solemnly, Jeff whispering, “I'm sorry.” Clint practically collapsed into his arms, both boys starting to sob as the death of their fellow Med-jack became real.
Gally stood staring at Jaelin's body numbly for a few moments before trudging over to her still form. He cradled it in his arms so gently that it surprised some of the other Gladers, but he didn't care. All he knew was that the love of his life had just died. Had wanted to die. He placed a tender kiss on her forehead before tilting his head up to the sky and, without warning, letting out a long, loud, anguished bellow.
“Fuck you!” he screamed at the Creators of such a hellhole; such a nightmare. No one had the strength to chastise him for cussing, not even Newt. Then he broke down in pained, heartbroken sobs again, the ache in his chest akin to a thousand splinters driving their way into every vital organ.
Without Jae, part of him—a large part of him—wanted to die, too. And that part grew and grew, slowly taking over until it was almost the only thing left. It ate away at this once untouchable boy, stripping him of his defenses and hope.
The next time he cried, he was barely even Gally anymore; just WCKD's puppet with Gally's face. He had lost the ability to fight their sick programming, and now, it had taken over. No, Gally wasn't truly living that last time he cried.
Without Jaelin, Gally would never truly live again. After all, when you give someone your heart, you place your life in their hands. And so when Jaelin died, Gally did, too.
Two rivers, running dry.
the end
