I’m worried that fanonization might ruin Sanders Sides. As the hiatus goes on for longer, the idea of the fanon sides being equal to the canon sides roots deeper into peoples minds. Now, Thomas has 3 routes he might go with.

First is writing the series similar to the fanon interpretation. I know he says he doesn’t read the fanfics nor gives big plot stuff to the writer’s room, however he’s not completely cut off from fanon. What I mean is incorrect quotes and fanart. Now, reading and looking at these things isn’t necessarily bad, but with such a disconnect between canon and fanon as well as Joan (who some consider to be the main reason TSS is so good) being out of the picture, it can be very easy to accidentally affirm some of these fanon ideas.

Second is to try his best to stick completely to canon. This would be difficult seeing as how much the arcs of some characters like Logan’s are moving closer to fanon.

Finally, a mix of canon and fanon interpretation of the characters. Now, this is probably what’s happening now but the problem is how much closer to fanon he’s leaning towards.

Just sticking to Logan here, his slight and entertaining meanness was fun and a good way to start a positive arc. However, as we see in DWIT and WTIT, he’s moving towards a positive arc that starts from him feeling ignored. Now, this would be all well and good if he was actually that ignored. Most of the problems that occur in the episodes have the sides listen to him and solve the problem. Having this arc would be okay if there was a concrete basis for it. With this set-up, he can come off as overreacting. A logical conclusion to the arc based off of his past behavior would be him learning how he’s blowing things out of proportion. But with the “retconned” (I say it like that because his past interactions don’t line up with his reaction now) set-up, it seems like the way they would conclude the arc is with Logan “finally being listened to”.

Now, this is all speculation but it does seem like it’s finishing that way. All I can hope for is that his arc ends logically with him finding out that it’s all just an overreaction like the character would have wanted.

I don’t have much to add to this. I hope the series either starts feeling like…separate from the fandom again or fizzles out at this point, honestly.

So if season three ever happens I think they’ll get new outfits cause there’s gonna have to be a time skip or Something, so like. What fanon stuff do you think could effect that? Round glasses Patton maybe?

I like the idea that we have to have a time skip. Not because I agree with it, but because it is ... interesting.

I was just suspecting c!Thomas to continue to live years behind real time. I don't see the point of a time skip, because c!Thomas doesn't... have to live at the same time as us? It helps immersion with c!Thomas being a vlogger, sure, but it genuinely isn't necessary at all.

If anything, I think I'd prefer the time difference since it helps separate c!Thomas & Sanders Sides and real-life. (Apparently, people are still struggling with understanding they're different— if these tournaments are anything to go by.)

Also, we haven't even seen the szn 2 finale, so trying to figure out how szn 3 starts feels silly to me (same with people trying to theorise about Orange guy's name when we haven't even met him). (To be fair though, there's not much to do when you haven't had main-story content in 3 years.)

I DO, however, agree that it's likely the sides will get new outfits. They got them at the start of szn 2 & I think it'd be silly if they got more.

My only issue with getting new outfits is: there are certain sides that haven't even been in more than 2 episodes (cough, cough, remus) so like... having an outfit get made for you and then only using it twice is... such a waste. I would prefer to actually see the sides wear their outfits, before we start getting different ones?

ANYWAY. I DO THINK FANON THINGS WILL BE AFFECTING THE SIDES' OUTFITS. Thomas made a tweet (link) awhile ago saying, "You know what, fanartists, you are absolutely right. Patton should have round glasses, and Logan should have square."

I don't have an issue with fanart affecting canon*, especially with a guy who interacts so heavily with his fandom (though, can't seem to find the time to tell us anything about what he's working on). The thing I have the issue with is the fact he and his team stated they wouldn't be reading fanfictions, so fandom ideas didn't affect the story, but then will interact with fanart and let that affect the story? Like... it's very odd how people view fanart v.s. fanfiction and it's very hypocritical, I think.

We've already seen the popular orange eyes fanon affect canon (Logan in WTIT) and I am sure we will see circle glasses and rectangle glasses with Patton and Logan. Maybe more orange in Logan's design? Or Janus having scales on his hands (if he ever takes his gloves off again). MAYBE Janus with a silly sharp tooth. I don't think I interact too much with fandom to know what fanon designs are popular...

*thats kind of a lie... i kind of do... a little.

Meaningless Headcanons: 💙Logan💙

(first of all they need to make a dark blue so I can differentiate Logan and Patton's colors. For now Logan gets a blue heart)

• Logan agrees with Janus more than Patton a lot. He would never admit it, and he hates it

• Logan's desk and room is actually really messy. To anyone other than Logan, they would think it's Chaos, but he knows exactly where everything is

• Logan is always logical, but when Thomas falls in love with someone he literally stops working, which is one reason he didn't want Thomas to get too obsessed in Moving On

• Janus and Remus see a heavy potential in bringing Logan to the Dark Sides, which is why Janus added on to his being ignored in SvS and why Remus got him to get angry in WTIT

• One time when Thomas went shopping he didn't get Crofter's, and Logan was mildly upset (which is crazy for him) for the next few hours

• Pet bird

• Logan is deep into the Sherlock fandom. Like way too deep. Like tumblr users staying up until 5 am to make theories level deep. Like ships and fanart and fanfic deep

• The others love giving Logan these riddles or puzzles that are really easy to solve, but Logan thinks too much about them so it takes him hours. He's always so mad when he finds out Roman did it in like two minutes

• The others also buy Logan incredibly easy to solve puzzles that he does in seconds to make him mad. He feels it's an insult to his intelligence

• He always hid his deodorant and everyone made fun of him for it until they met Remus

• Logan is the only one that knows what to do when Thomas or Virgil have a panic attack because he doesn't touch people or make loud noises
