#my teeth have been aching nd hurting on nd off for 5 months now >.< #but the past few days theyre aching almost all day :c it's so annoying nd i hate it sm i cant concentrate on anything #i cant rlly do anything either like mouthwash nd tootphaste nd flour tablets arent helping #i've been taking great care of my teeth for the past several years too like idk :// #im thinking it could potentially be acid reflux damaging the teeth #but i've already been to the doctors w it nd nothing helps :// #anyway i made an appt but it isnt until the 6th may #on top of that it's only an appt for them to check nd see nd then write a list of things that should/could be done #then i have to send it in for approval nd see what my wellfare will cover 😬 #it's not certain that they'll approve any of the recommended treatment #at least i've tried then #dental care is CRAZY expensive like it's fucked up #i wish i just had a job w a salary then i'd gladly take all my money nd go to the dentist #i HATE dental pain nd issues. i hate it sm!!!!!! i would give up my entire pay just to get rid of this #i'd start any job tmrw just so i could go to the dentist i absolutely abhor this #so yeah im struggling w this atm nd it's roughhhh #hopefully it'll calm down. i still have to think abt school nd do my assignments

i'm so bummed i accidentally turned town a job interview for a job where I could have worked with a good friend and mentor 😔

#i was telling her abt the preschool i got hired at and i was like yeah im worried bc the other teacher doesn't seem nice #and the student teacher ratio is really bad they're really understaffed and underfunded im just really worried it will be too much for me #and she was like oh you should apply to the school i work at bc we're hiring snd the ratio is great and the pay might be better also #and i never knew the name of the school she worked at until then #and its one i DID apply to but i told them nevermind after this one hired me 😬 #but now i really wish i'd taken that interview #i'm going to call or email first thing on monday tho and hopefullyyy i can get in for an interview before i start my new job on thursday #so i wont literally have to take time off for it #and then if they offer me i will be able to tell the new job nevermind while its still early #either that or i'll try to stick it out a few months then apply to the other one for summer or something #but im not sure whether its best to quit immediately or let them think im dependable and staying then leave in three months lol #but mostly for the other job idk if it would ruin the opportunity to tell them nevermind i want the job a week after i said no #compared to a few months later #they might have forgotten me by then which would probably be good #idkkk #my first reference literally works there which will hopefully help and maybe they'll give me a break #the pay scale looks the same as the one i just accepted but i think they'll offer less bc they're not as desperate #but i literally dont care its such a better working environment #and the pay scale is the same so they would give me a raise after a few months #and the work will be so much easier #and the commute #and i Definitely know i can work with my friend #vs the co teacher at this new job who seems really intense and unfriendly #anyway!! #im really anxious abt this new job and i'll stay if the other place wont take me now #but i really hope they give me another chance #also its super close and easy drive and the commute for the other one scares me a bit lol #this has been a shitpost

obviously i did choose to use the backstory from SM and Power-Pack #1 for my AU but that was largely for plot parallel reasons and tying together, basically, Peter, Gwen, Janine and Kaine all as parallel characters in a small way (though gwen will be spared for the most part but obvs still shaken by being attacked), but I'm ngl the more I have read of various comics, as well as screenshots of various scenes i haven't gotten to quite yet, the more it dooooes feel kind of believable as a backstory from a character standpoint

obviously peter has always been a fighter even as a child and got in 6v1 fistfights and so on, and that's something i always keep in mind cause his anger etc. is really so key to his personality including as a kid, but (and i don't mean in a shy quiet way but rather an inability to say "no" way) he seems to struggle a lot with asserting himself/his boundaries in unwanted romantic/sexual situations like... on a recurring basis (at least in the 80s but i wanna say it was other eras too), so the notion that an older boy who he thought was his friend would be able to coerce him that way doesn't feel like much of a stretch at all really, esp for a small kid who looked to be somewhere around 10 or 12 at the time

i guess it depends on what comics you look at though and how much weight you give to issues from specific years. i'm realizing a lot of the examples i can think of ARE from the 80s lmao

i have like screenshots and notes in my timeline doc lol but i'm just musing, not trying to make a like, Rebloggable Meta Post. just something i was thinking about recently after reading some miscellaneous comics including more of Jenkins' which arguably has at least two instances of (attempted) sexual assault if you count the symbiote bonding with Peter against his will (which considering the blatant domestic abuse subtext for venom in the comic, i think it's fair to count that as a parallel to sexual assault even if it's not exactly that), as well as, of course, the Spider Queen kissing him against his will while he's immobilized (though peter did manage to fight back)

of course that comic is from the early 2000s so it postdates SM&PP #1 by like. 20 years.—idk if Jenkins was thinking about that comic (but who knows, I'M using it almost 40 years after the fact so...) or if it's just that peter is sexually harassed kind of often enough in minor ways throughout regular-ass spidey comics for situations like that to just fall into place

for jenkins though it does make sense because the really strongly recurring throughline in his runs on spider-man just based on what i have read (piecemeal, randomly, probably about half of both?) have been peter's sense of being adrift, uncertain and in many cases helpless, and he explores that a lot via both current events in both his PPSM and TSSM runs (including the plot with flash's coma), as well as flashbacks to like, Peter's stage fright as a child—whether or not you consider that in-character (i don't think it's wildly ooc cause it does seem like peter's confidence is strongly situational but i'm never quite sure whether i think it fits or not. i'm certainly not opposed to it), it's definitely part of an ongoing theme in his Spectacular run specifically, juxtaposing his sense of being lost and confused with his anger and love and stuff like that (the contrasts between the gentle way he touches his loved ones vs. the vicious way he fights Otto... chef kiss, ty ramos). i thought the scenes in the final issue were also interesting cause it has the stage fright stuff but it also has the nightmare scene where peter is naked (again, helpless and vulnerable) and the villains all around him are threatening to do awful things to him which they refuse to tell him.

idk if i'd say it's fully at sexual assault symbolism but there does feel like a hint of that there just because of the lack of specificity and peter's nudity in the dream plus the earlier stuff i mentioned w/ venom and the spider queen. i do like the stage bow at the end cause there's this strong sense of spider-man being peter's shield against the world and the symbolism of him basically existing to protect his child self (also a theme with several of the supporting cast members, in other comics by other writers, namely flash and harry)

of course that's just one author (in case you can't tell i am a little bit into Jenkins' writing 😂😂😂 he does whiff sometimes (more than sometimes) but when he hits he just really gets it for me, personally)

other earlier comics like ASM #230 and issues relevant to that plot/its characters (from 1982, so pre-dating the child molestation PSA/backstory issue by a couple years in this case) are more lighthearted or humorous in their approach but i do think they take on some kind of discomfort in the greater context of spidey, tbh... the way peter struggles to refuse amy's advances is like, a little notable to me.

i'm sure there are other examples but anyway i was just rambling idk why i suddenly was thinking of this 😂

#i know a lot of fans (esp on reddit) go beyond the general ''yeah it's not really canon'' (which isn't untrue) to a like..... #vehement denial of it that comes across as kind of shitty lol #but you know it had a purpose as a comic and if you look at comments from readers who it helped feel better about their own abuses #then obviously it succeeded and that's more important than its canonicity or whatever #but like i said i do think it's more believable the more i've read though idk whether or not i'd call it strictly canon. #it's... extra-canonical i guess #nadia reads comics #nadia rambles #also it's insane to me when people say things like oh spidey is the least tragic superhero oh peter has it easy compared to other heroes #cause like if you look at his comics as a whole.... it's like.... he is deeply fucked up and deeply traumatized from very early on #not just the naughty nineties like dude has serious abandonment issues and a lot of death in his family and a lot of deeply buried trauma #that he just kind of......................... ignores until he can't anymore 😬 but. you know. yeah he's the ''fun'' one i guess 😂 #this isn't something you need to dig deep for either his trauma is present in some of his most iconic and well known comics lmao #ANYWAY

like he’s thinking “why would you wanna sit on my lap?!—sit on a chair or- just- somewhere else!...even the floor or something idk?!!”

but however you somehow convince him to let you, whether that’s bribery (swords or alcohol), sitting on him anyway or schmoozing him over into letting you,

you did it!!

And that’s all that matters :)

While you sit on him he’s usually sleeping sitting up, drinking alcohol or just relaxing with his eyes closed

When you sit facing him it’s a little more comfortable for him

he prefers it that way

sometimes you lay your head on his shoulder/chest and fall asleep on him

he’ll scoff either way but he gets a bit annoyed if he was trying to do something that requires getting up

Like training for example

If he wasn’t too busy in the first place then he just scoffs and probably takes a nap himself

if he’s not tired he waits for you to get up

he doesn’t like to stir you from sleep but if it’s important like a ship attack he’s kinda rough about doing so- 😀

Just the fact that if an attack comes your way you won’t be able to dodge—and protecting someone isn’t his thing when fighting, he always tells you to go hide if your weak

When you sit with your back to his chest its comfy but like don’t be surprised if he picks you up and turns you around (i don’t wanna hear anyone saying they’re too heavy bc you obviously must not have seen the weights he lifts on a daily)

sitting like that’s kinda annoying bc having to crane your neck back and to the side is not fun 😬😀

plus you probably hit his jaw a lot-

Or things like

1) he bites his tongue

2) his teeth hit your head (and it hurts for both of you)

3) he spits his alcohol in your hair (when you hit his jaw with your head)

4) you hit your head on his nose

So yeah this position is less common for you guys

Bonus if your hair is long

then he gets his fingernails stuck to it too :)

he prefers you don’t sit on his lap in public

mostly because he doesn’t like the stares that come with it 💁‍♀️

If you once again somehow convince him to let you in public however…..

it’ll be the type where he man spreads and you sit on one leg facing him

that way he has a bit more space to move and one of his arms is free

That being said, I think that someone *cough cough* could write a 5 + 1 ficlet about Sirius trying to get laid, and he fails 5 times because no one is impressed with his fame, and succeeds once because, idk, Kingsley is more famous than he is. Shit. Sirius shoves his list into his pocket and pops the collar of his coat in an effort to shield most of his face from the cameras. He’d purposely come to Diagon at ass-o’clock on a Sunday, hoping to get his shopping out of the way before the crowds arrived. He’d managed to get gifts for everyone on his list, too, except for Harry.

Harry is the one he always has the hardest time shopping for, because the gifts have to be perfect. He accepts nothing less for his son. 

And now the paparazzi have spotted him, which means that he has to put off shopping for Harry until another day. He briefly contemplates setting the street (and the reporters) on fire as a distraction, but that would only draw more attention.

Instead, he ducks down an alley and Apparates home.

“Don’t tell me,” Sirius sighs.

“Yeah.”

Sirius steps into Remus’s office, and the whole room falls silent, sixteen pairs of eyes staring at him in astonishment.

“Er,” he says eloquently, “hello.”

Pandemonium breaks out after that, students clamoring for his autograph and his photograph and wanting to shake his hand. If he’d known that Remus held office hours at six o’clock on a Thursday of all days, he wouldn’t have stopped by to visit his friend after the Board of Governors meeting let out. 

“I’m going to kill you,” he mutters under his breath at one point, while three awestruck first-years try to get his attention. 

“No, you won’t,” Remus says cheerfully. “You need your best man intact for the wedding.”

Sirius can’t help it. Curious, he twists around in his seat to find a young girl glaring at him. She can’t be older than Lily Luna, and she’s dressed in a frilly princess dress for the show. Her mothers gape at him.

“Oh!” the one holding Melinda exclaims. “Oh, Lord Black, I am so sorry--”

“It’s quite alright,” he says, giving Melinda the patented and dazzling Black smile. She remains unmoved. “I am very tall, aren’t I?”

“I wanna see the dancing,” Melinda pouts.

“Why don’t we switch?” Kingsley suggests, and he swaps seats with Sirius. 

“You’re too tall, too,” Melinda informs him. “Mummy, can I sit on your shoulders?”

“No, baby, I don’t think the theater would like that very much.”

“But how am I supposed to see Clara?” Melinda demands. “And the dancing?” 

“We’ll switch seats with you,” Sirius says, and both of Melinda’s mothers look mortified.

“Oh, no, Lord Black--”

“We couldn’t possibly--”

“I insist,” he says, getting up, and Kingsley follows him. The two women get up after a moment’s hesitation and take their seats, Melinda on one lap. “Is that better, my lady?”

“Yes,” Melinda says, not sparing him a glance. 

“Melinda,” one of her mothers scolds. “What do we say?”

Melinda turns around to look at Sirius. “What’s your name?”

“Sirius.”

Her nose wrinkles. “That’s a funny name.”

“Melinda!”

“Thank you, Sirius,” Melinda says primly, and then she turns around again, Sirius utterly forgotten.

Her mothers are bright red. Sirius leans forward.

Since you liked my rambling abt my random Nimona headcanons, here's part 2

- Starting off with the queen (rip), I think her white hair is actually a wig and she has some gorgeous greying tight curls under it

- There was a thingy "the Boldheart project" which was created when Bal got accepted into the Institute's knight program. "The project" followed his progress in training to figure out if commoners were able to train as good as nobles. If he completed the course successfully, the reform would be set (sry I like talking abt fantasy politics- yea, putting responsibility on a literal child to become a figure of "equality" is... Sure a strategy)

Let's stop with the politics amirite

- Ambrosius sings in the shower. First it was like quiet humming n stuff but when him and Bal start living together this guy's shower was akin to opera (hah- soap opera- get it-)

- Ambrosius would be a type of a rich dude who fantasizes about living on his own and providing for himself and having this sweet humble suburban way of life with his husband until he actually starts living this way (he's a literal nepo baby- cmon the habits will be there even if he tries being independent)

Ambrosius: Bal, I don't get why I keep burning my bread! It's the second time I fail!

Ballister: Practice makes perfect, darling

Ambrosius: But these KitKoters make it look so easy😭😭

- He catches up gradually tho. Bal is very understanding, Nimona is having a lot of fun with this

- Does fun include bullying Ambrosius for not knowing how to remove plants to the bigger pots?. Yea kinda

- Nimona's hanging out with the kingdom's kids from time to time. She goes out of her way to make them laugh or make them feel happy in general. It heals her inner child, in a way

- Even though she hangs out with them from a perspective of a cool older shapeshifting punk sibling, she still feels like their peer and can't help but transform into her child form sometimes

- idk I think Nimona shapeshifts into a child pretty often if she feels overwhelmed or emotionally devastated or just wants to be taken care of

- Ballister does take care of her

Wow this got sad fast. Anyway

- Ambrosius is left-handed but was forced to relearn because the perfect descendant of Gloreth cannot be left-handed, it's abnormal🤓

- Ballister can't help but go 😬 when either Ambrosius or Nimona take food with their left hand while eating. Yeah technically eating with his flesh hand would be easier for him. No he won't do that for the life of him (saying hi to all Muslims out there)

- Ballister decides to grow out a real beard and Nimona thinks it's the coolest thing ever to play with during their family quality time. Ambrosius also likes this change in his looks but for rather uh... gay different reasons😁

If we're talking about gay stuff I might just as well talk abt some Goldenheart hcs

- When they've only started dating Ballister had a really difficult time with the eye contact bc Ambrosius's loving gaze was too much to handle for him. He'd see how gentle and soft his eyes are and how they're filled with complete adoration to the top and just look away all blushy and smitten

- I think we as a fandom agree that Ambrosius's love language is arm chopping physical touch. Have you considered how important kisses can be to him in expressing his love tho

- Ambrosius LOVES kissing Ballister. He's probably kissed him everywhere if you think about it-

- But yea. He steals kisses from Bal as often as he can. Boo goes to work? Kiss him goodbye. Boo gets back? Kiss him goodhi - doesn't matter where😉

- His favorite place to kiss is probably Bal's neck bc he just likes nuzzling into it and making him all flustered

- Ballister loves kissing Ambrosius as well. His favorite thing ever is press kisses into Ambrosius's hair while they're lying down on the couch, Ambrosius's head on Ballister's chest n his arms around Ballister's torso. It makes them both feel very soft and warm and safe❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

- (teenage years) You know this type thing when kittens playfully fight each other and jump onto each other and bite and stuff? Yea that's teenage Goldenheart

- (a little older than teenage years) current sparring trend in the writer part of the fandom. That's it. You know damn well what I'm talking about

- At some point their private training sessions became the reason they succeeded in combat and got the highest of marks

Okay gay stuff is over

- Nimona has some pretty dark humor but draws the line at the things that could really trigger her or other people. Joking about burning everything down? Of course. Joking about... Well... The act 3 of the movie? Nope, never

- Nate Knight (do ya remember him?) does drag in his off-duty time haha RuPaul hi

- Ballister snores in his sleep bc he's a dad like that

- Ballister also is a type of dad to sleep on the couch while watching TV, and when you turn it off he wakes up and tells you he's been watching it this whole time

- Both Nimona and Ambrosius encourage Ballister to speak his mother tongue more often bc he used to hide it at the Institute

- Nimona scrunches her nose when she tries to remember things

- Ballister snaps his fingers while remembering stuff, especially in "Huh... What's the word for..." situations (he just like me fr)

- Nimona loves biting pencils and pens but sometimes she bites too hard and they break in half or something

- I feel like her stomach is iron. This punk can eat an eraser or swallow a knife or drink lava-hot water and all she'll do is burp maybe

- After leaving the Institute Ambrosius would have one hell of existential crisis. All he's dedicated his life to for all these years were lies and propaganda, what's the purpose of his life now? He tries out as many new things as he can - baking, painting, singing, playing musical instruments, photography, even science (with Bal's help ofc) my dude has tried it all. He sometimes felt worthless bc his life had no greater purpose but Bal and Nimona would reassure him that living happily with people who love him is more than enough and that you don't have to be the greatest person ever to live the best life. Find joy in the smallest of things n stuff😌

- Ballister has found ways to renovate his arm and made a bunch of new prosthetics for different purposes. I feel like he'd use a hook as well sometimes (as I've heard from the disabled community, hook is a very comfortable aid). No I'm not talking about that one post about his prosthetic's... renovations (😳) from the fan acc I follow

- It’s so cloudy and dark—it must be the fall season going into winter

- Wrecker AND Crosshair making lady friends…I see what you’re doing there Jen

- Also this is the first time we’ve seen Crosshair without his outer pauldrons on!! Now he can’t stab someone’s eye out if he stands next to them 😆

- Oh yeah Omega go walk into the scary cave that Batcher is afraid to go into. And walk up to a strange ship that you don’t recognize 😅

- I do honestly wish Ventress’ character reveal had been kept a secret and wasn’t in the trailer. This moment would hit so much harder. But it’s very good to see her finally show up.

- Love the subtle nod to how Hunter seems to hear Batcher first, and Crosshair sees her first, showcasing their different skill sets and how well they work in tandem.

- I kind of really love the seaport vibes and the neutral lighting here. I can just see Omega as a fisherman’s daughter or running off to be a pirate in another life

- I do find it interesting that almost no force user ever explains what reaching out “feels like” when trying to teach other people about it. You would think they could come up with a better description so that people can grasp it more easily. Unless their goal is that you can’t unless you have perseverance and/or capability

- Welp. This is probably one of the most powerful instances of a force user connecting with a creature to calm it/communicate with it that we’ve ever gotten

- Interesting that her take is that omega would have to be trained, when decades later Ahsoka’s response to Grogu is that he shouldn’t be trained at all and should let his powers die out due to attachment.

- LEAVE PABU BOYS. She’s not warning, she’s telling. Ya know, not like it’s the title of the episode or anything

- “You’re not worried about the empire coming after you?” Love how even after all that and all his distrust, Hunter is still capable of caring about her well-being
