Most spoken language in each country
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had to separate the legend from the map because it would not have been legible otherwise. I am aware that the color distinctions are not always very clear, but there are only so many colors in the palette.
The legend is arranged in alphabetical order and languages are grouped by family (bullet points), with branches represented by numbers and followed by the color palette languages within them are colored in, as follows:
Afroasiatic
Chadic (Hausa) — ocher
Cushitic (Oromo and Somali) — light yellow-green
Semitic (from Arabic to Tigrinya) — yellow
Albanian — olive green
Armenian — mauve
Atlantic-Congo
Benue-Congo (from Chewa to Zulu) — blue-green
Senegambian (Fula and Wolof) — faded blue-green
Volta-Congo (Ewe and Mooré) — bright blue-green
Austroasiatic (Khmer and Vietnamese) — dark blue-purple
Austronesian
Eastern Malayo-Polynesian (from Fijian to Wallisian) — dark brown
Malayo-Polynesian (Palauan) — bright brown
Western Malayo-Polynesian (from Malagasy to Tagalog) — light brown
Eastern Sudanic (Dinka) — foral white
Hellenic (Greek) — black
Indo-European
Germanic (from Danish to Swedish) — light blue (creoles in medium/dark blue)
English-based creoles (from Antiguan and Barbudan to Vincentian Creole)
Indo-Aryan (from Bengali to Sinhala) — purple
Iranian (Persian) — gray
Romance (from Catalan to Spanish) — red (creoles in dark red)
French-based creoles (from Haitian Creole to Seychellois Creole)
Portuguese-based creoles (from Cape Verdean Creole to Papiamento)
Slavic — light green (from Bulgarian to Ukrainian)
Inuit (Greenlandic) — white
Japonic (Japanese) — blanched almond
Kartvelian (Georgian) — faded blue
Koreanic (Korean) — yellow-orange
Kra-Dai (Lao and Thai) — dark orange
Mande (from Bambara to Mandinka) — magenta/violet
Mongolic (Mongolian) — red-brown
Sino-Tibetan (Burmese, Chinese*, and Dzongkha) — pink
Turkic (from Azerbaijani to Uzbek) — dark green
Uralic
Balto-Finnic (Estonian and Finnish) — light orange
Ugric (Hungarian) — salmon
* Chinese refers to Cantonese and Mandarin. Hindi and Urdu are grouped under Hindustani, and Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, and Serbian are grouped under Serbo-Croatian.

I'm thinking about making the Legato Rozen Zulu real, but I'm definitely not dropping money on the kit just to fuck it up because I've never painted a plastic model before. I threw together a colour scheme for Grandpa using the same palette since you can get the entry grade for 8 dollars. Much less daunting

WAKANDA FOREVER : African Destination Wedding
Tumblr media
The Wakanda Forever Destination Wedding occurs in Zambia Africa at the Victoria Falls outdoor landscape and scenery area. The wedding ceremony includes a mix of traditional African rituals from the jumping of the broom, to libations for the ancestors and the traditional wedding money (prosperity) dance with African drumming.
Tumblr media
In much of Africa, drums are considered to symbolize and protect royalty. There are many kinds of African drums, including the djembe.
Tumblr media
Attire will include themed looks and colors from the Wakanda Forever movie. The color palette is Royal Purple and Glistening Gold with Warrior Red, Protective Blue, Earthly Brown and Compassion Green, Beautiful Black and Natural White.
Tumblr media
The African attire includes the Zulu inspired hat of the black panther mother called Isicolo and a distinctive style of blanket, known as Basotho blankets, worn traditionally by tribal people from Lesotho.
Tumblr media
Isicolio Hats: Can be traced to Zulu culture, where women have traditionally weaved hats from grass and cotton to wear on special ceremonies such as weddings.
Tumblr media
Basotho Blankets : The distinctive style of blanket, worn traditionally by tribal people from Lesotho. This blanket, commonly worn wrapped around a high-status person like a cloak.
Tumblr media
Aso Ebi : The word “Aso” means cloth and “Ebi” means family, so it literally means “family cloth”. It a way for friends to show closeness to the family during ceremonial events by matching.
Tumblr media
This ceremony is a private event for only a select family members and friends that occurs during the daytime right before the sun sets on a beautiful Sunday Evening.
Tumblr media
Jumping of the Broom : Some believe that it originated in West Africa. The broom is waved over the couple's head to ward off evil and than placed on the ground and the couple jumps over it for new beginnings.
Tumblr media
Libations : They pour holy water or alcohol on the grounding each of the four cardinal directions. They then recite prayers to the ancestral spirits, and calls out the names of those that have recently passed away.  This African tradition is aimed to appease the ancestors and bless the bride and groom.
Tumblr media
The 4 Elements : The Yoruba have a wedding tradition called the tasting of the four elements. During that ceremony, the bride and groom get a literal taste of flavors that represent the distinct stages in a marriage. A lemon slice is for sour to represent the disappointments the couple will face. A sip of vinegar is for the bitterness they must overcome in fights and trying times. Cayenne is a hot element to show a way of bringing spice and passion to the relationship. Finally, a sweet spoonful of honey to show the joy in marriage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The destination wedding guest will lodge and conclude the events indoors at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge restaurant.  The beautiful waterfall scenery has a resemblance from the Wakanda Forever movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cake is simple yet flows with the theme and the menu will be mostly vegetarian with fish and delicious but simple sides of rice, vegetables and dessert. Fruit baskets will be presented to the bride and groom along with other gifts found in their wedding suite.

Inspiration and more notes
Had a challenge to make a 'music sting' for a video card and it was a fun challenge. 5 -8 seconds to make a background mood for a video. Set a mood. The editor chose a iphone recording of me humming and having fun on acoustic instead of the thing I threw together quickly with layers of moody chords.
Sound and mood are the palettes of color we paint with.
Also listening to a podcast that is giving me inspiration to woodshed and refine things - Questlove interview podcast with jazz players (and other musicians). Aside from the personal connections and history of some of those musicians, just hearing some of the love of craft and the aspirations that drive them- huge inspiration. 'all musicians suck at laying back and doing less, want to hear the truth, listen to them play a ballad'. Stuff like that is a shot in the arm.
Also the new Depeche Mode release is surprisingly true to their pop synth sensibilities.
Am considering selling an instrument.
Recently a friend sang for a wedding and really shined. The reception featured a 2nd line performance at the end of the night- The Tramps (Zulu Tramps?) were fucking amazing. Pure skill at making a huge crowd drunk on sound and the feeling. Six guys playing marching style rocking a couple hundred people's face off.

What brand of eyeshadow are you using in the cat girl /maid outfit? For some reason pink eyeshadow doesn’t show up on my eyelids that well despite being fairly pale lol
I use combos usually, so I used the shade Libra from Huda's Mercury Retrograde palette and a hot pink shade from Juvia's Place The Zulu and for the shimmer I used from Mercury Retrograde the shade Cosmic 💗 Hope this helps, but I also got some better advice, always use concealer on your lids and around the eye so the shades will stick and pack the eyeshadow first, then blend, first a more neutral color close to the shade u want to achive then go in with a darker shade, pack and blend. Also u truly don't need Huda (I got most my Huda palettes as gifts or from wishlist) there are cheaper alternatives that might even be better like Juvia's Place, they are so worth it and also u can buy second hand artistry palettes, they are safe to use once u disinfect them and the brushes matter as well, loads.

W11: Objects Update - x10
I have updated the descriptions of each object on the poster to meet the word count of 50.
My object descriptions are now sitting between 40-80 words each. I need to find out if it is strictly 50 words max, because I cant find it on the brief anywhere. This was quite hard and I had to cut out a lot of information that I thought was relevant. Most of the objects still have their importance come across in just 50. I would like to go deeper into many of them, but I could use the essay for that potentially.
This bottle has been kept for many years, and lies among a collection of jewllery. Its origins unknown. A message in a bottle is the essence of storytelling.  It is innocent, hopeful and mysterious. It is a story without even being opened.  The bottle is repurposed and creates new meaning, but the original story of the remains.  It invokes curiousity and imagination to viewers. What could the message inside be? As designers we connect with this concept by creating work that holds the same qualities.
This beaded necklace was a gift from family. It to portrays the history and interest into African cultures and society.  The necklace resembles the Zulu jewellery. The Zulu are South Africa's largest ethnic group. They have produced craft objects with beads for ritual and other occasions since the early 1700s.
Collected over time, these sheets serve as colour codes and shades. They show the connection to the current design work through printing and paper. Having a colour palette like this to compare printed colours and digital colours is vital for a designer. This is my personal collection and commonly used tool when designing.
My art journey started with sketches and doodles as a child. It eventually moved onto pastel and paintings, resulting in an interest in digital art and design. This reflects the modern era which is digital and social media influenced. I liked BTS at the time and started creating digital fanarts with fantasy themed aesthetics. It greatly improved my art and illustration by practicing with fanarts that I was passionate about.
Threaded magazine is an award-winning design studio from New Zealand. I aquired it through a lecturer at AUT. It is beautifully illustrated and designed, featuring local and international creatives. Their mission is to creative positive change and interaction with local communities.  They love cultural and social contexts which is prevalent in all of their work. This magazine connected me to many amazing designers that are potentially part of my future career.
This represents my culture, origins, and love of stories. There is a humourous story behind this bracelet. In Europe, you will often find people walking around popular tourist locations, with a range of trinkets like jewellery. They attempt to sell things, often in scam-like ways. We paid a very cheap price by handing over South African currency. The bracelet has since gained my affection through this story and my love of Africa.
The newest addition to the design collection, is a flyer from AGI-Open; a design conference held in my area. It hosted many famous creatives and designers revealing new names and designs relevant to my career. This community taught many valuable tips and lessons for design. The flyer holds the timetable, logo and speakers list. Using it as an object also hints to connection with papers and printing.
A mousepad like this is few and far between. It was gifted by family and comes from the game, League of Legends. Their character splash arts and story-lines are absolutely amazing. This object represents my gaming interests and love for fantasy-themed creations.
A weave of metals and wools connecting to eco-friendly sustainable work. This is a current project of mine, that hopes to create a new surface and structure by combining two unqiue materials. It contains the experimental and opportunist personality with the unique and abnormal design concepts.
This bottle has been kept for many years, its origins unknown. A message in a bottle is the essence of storytelling. It is innocent, hopeful and mysterious. It is a story without even being opened. It invokes curiousity and imagination to viewers. What could the message inside be? As designers, we connect with this concept by creating work that holds a similar power.
A very badly put together teddy bear was the start of my crochet journey. The pattern and material were gifted from a graduation bag leftover from AUT graduates. I became interested in wool shortly after because of its sustainable qualities compared to the plastic and polyester materials. It holds interesting properties like flame retardant,  good insulation, and soft comfortable textures. Being sustainable and thinking about material qualities is something I hope to hold in regard at all times.
Photography is an assisting of how design became my profession. Photography is an interest that comes in phases, but is a necessary support for design. Even if you are an illustrator, product designer or brand designer etc, you will use photography to capture your inspiration, work in progress. Photography is a necessary skill for design.
