I finished my second last assessment on Sunday night. In just under a week the final assessment will be submitted and I will have completed my Honours degree. I'm not sure what my grades will be like and I'm trying not to care. For the first time in my life I don't feel terrified of the future. I just feel happy knowing that whatever comes, I can handle it.
Stay safe and be kind,
Love Bean xx
P.S. I handed in my dissertation too!!! ❤️❤️❤️

It is done!!! ☑️🎓 My thesis of veterinary medicine is finished, after taking a year in between my bachelor's and master's degree, so I could spend more time on it and also get my honours certificate! It was so much work, I was so so so nervous to present, but everything went great and our entire group got awarded their diploma's. So proud!! 🥹🥳

26.04.2023 || It’s been many years since I’ve posted here, but recent thesis deadlines are demanding a level of romanticise-academia-to-hustle-some-results-in that I haven’t needed in a long time. So here’s to some long study days and a conscious effort to avoid burnout (if those two things are capable of coexisting).

your honour the opposition counsel specifically asked me-
"Aaj phir ek behes haar ja, aaj phir yeh taaluq bachaa le."
and I vehemently replied -
"Aaj phir ye taaluq bach jaega Kal phir ye mazeed sataega"

2023 fantasy challenge update
babel (r.f. kuang), 5☆
particularly liked the etymology bits as a vital part of worldbuilding and narration
when the angels left the old country (sacha lamb), 5☆ *
the friendshipTM made me cry multiple times and the writing is simply delicious
the priory of the orange tree (samantha shannon), 5☆
re-read? more like treat! shannon just knows how to write fantasy
a day of fallen night (samantha shannon), 5☆
pure joy to dive back into the roots of chaos universe and meet new characters (I might even like this one more than priory). I'm gonna need to cuddle an ichneumon real soon please
* fyi, I only put this down as romance subplot bc i didn't know where else to put it for this challenge but I wanted to mention it because I Loved it so much and there is indeed a romance that is very much a subplot not a second plot or anything. the focus is very much on friendship, what makes a home, standing up for yourself and an angel and a demon being awesome

Study Tips 101 from an honour student
Third Place in my Cohort
Annotations
This is my personal favourite. When you get your test back or an assignment, you should note on them. Write little things on the side about what you’re thinking about your test. Example, if you got a question wrong, at the side write how you should fix it or why you got it wrong. It’s a fun thing to do as well because there’s no limit to HOW you annotate. It’s a you thing, you can write the notes however would suit you. I personally write stuff in a humorous way because I wouldn’t really show anyone my annotations nor do they even know I annotate. I once just wrote “I still don’t get this, future me please answer this next to a question on a past test when I got it back. That was actually really sad now that I think about it, that one question cost me my last mark and I got a 98% not 100%.
Pointed note taking
When you’re taking notes in class, instead of trying to keep up to your teachers and literally writing every single thing. Try write little dot points, jot it down quickly. If they’re speaking really fast, don’t even write every point, just do the things you know you won’t remember. My teachers upload the PowerPoints they use on the school server we use per class so I usually review it when I get home and neaten up my notes. Which is the next step, when you get home - take the time to make the pointed note taking you did and make it neater. Or else when you do need them you probably won’t get it.
Revising, 10-15 minutes
This is different from homework. When you revise, just look over your notes again, reading them as a habit will help you insert the information you need from your short term memory to your long term memory. It helps when you have a test and there’s so much material to study and it’s so much stress because there’s so much things you don’t even remember.
Habit Tracker/Homework Diary
This is one that was advised to my class when I began High School. My English teacher back then had taught for almost 40 years so of course I took this advice, and yes it truly helps. As you move on upwards, your work eventually piles and piles even more. I’m incredibly thankful for this piece of advice (she is still my English Teacher to this day) from her as my schedule is very packed. From Head Girl to Volleyball Co-Captain and two part time jobs while maintaining my academic status in top classes as third place in my cohort, keeping a homework diary or even a habit tracker helps. I would recommend the app called Habit for this.

friends who are older and wiser in the ways of higher education than am I: if an application for a program asks for a writing sample and says you can use a previously-composed piece of classwork or write a new piece specifically for the program application, which is the better option? as in, which makes you a more attractive candidate for the program and increases your chances of getting in?

I need to document how excited I am to begin honours!! It’s the end of week one but I haven’t had time to do work this week between my birthday and bachelors graduation (I now physically have a degree!). The research project I’ll be working on across the next year is a perfect combination of my interests: machine learning with images and planetary geology. Gosh, I’m so hyped.
It’s taken the perfect combination of units I studied, my grades, and networking to get me to this point and I have really felt God guiding me towards this. Now I’m praying it all goes well and I grow in my skills as a researcher. And then, by the end of this, I figure out which direction I want to take my career (industry vs research).
