How to have a great writing day.

Sometimes having a great writing day is just getting out and seeing the world around you.

This is Emerson. Emerson is a two year old elephant seal. They moult in the spring and he has chosen MacNeill Bay in Victoria as his spot. The wildlife people tried to relocate him somewhere safer ( he was crossing busy roads and exploring gardens) but he made the 150 km journey back in 5 days!

So not the beach area is cordoned off to keep him safe and to prevent stupid parents from trying to get videos of their toddlers touching noses with him. Wild animal people and he has big teeth!

In the US alone:

• Around 2.1 million deer-vehicle collisions occur annually.

• The collisions cause more than $10 billion in economic losses annually.

• Each year, they account for some 59,000 human injuries and 440 human deaths.

The problem is real in the UK, British Columbia, Japan, Australia and Germany, too.

And governments are worried about who uses what bathroom?

I have had numerous periods where I felt as if I didn’t have two brain cells to rub together, nothing to useful or relevant to say, what I do write is crap, and … why bother. I find myself judging everything I have created. I have days when I’m convinced that I’m out of decent ideas.

Over time, I’ve learned various techniques to rekindle my creative flame. Some, or some combination of these might help you as well.

lol i hate today’s era of absolutely zero nuance takes. a friend didn’t behave exactly as you’d wanted them to? cut them off. a guy didn’t text you back instantly bc he has his own life? he’s just giving you breadcrumbs. doing something makes you uncomfortable? don’t do it anymore. someone isn’t instantly available for you? disinterest. just absolutist statements that often don’t apply to the multilayer situations of everyday life. like. stop. literally just stop it
