Lovely Little Dreamer

Women’s heels clipped against the cobblestone of the street, echoing in Sirius’s ears. But he didn’t care. His attention was on the man seated across from him rather than the residences of the city.

“We should really get going,” he attempted to interrupt his companion’s reading with the suggestion. But Remus barely lifted his head in acknowledgment, still profoundly entranced by the book he had bought that morning. On Alchemy, of course, the way the muggles saw it.

“Do you need anything else, Monsieurs?” The waiter who’d been attending to them for the past several hours came over, not bothering to hide his annoyance at the lack of rotation to their table. 

Sirius finally kicked Remus’ leg, causing him to jerk in surprise and send their empty teacups tottering on their saucers. He glanced around frantically until he spotted the waiter. “Apologies, umm, no, no, we’re finished.” He started to reach around for his wallet, but Sirius beat him to it. He dropped several more bills than necessary on the tabletop as they stood.

“Thank you for your attendance.” He gave the younger man a tight smile. Upon seeing the money, the tension in his shoulders eased and he gave them a slight nod, returning Siruis’ smile before returning to the cafe. 

“Why didn’t you move us sooner?” Remus questioned as they walked off into the night, glancing back at their table longingly. Sirius threw his head back and laughed.

“That’s why,” he replied, glancing around before bringing Remus closer to meet his lips.

Sirius opened his eyes with a smile on his face, expecting to see Remus looking back at him. But all he saw was the mouldy stones of his cell and heard the cries of other prisoners. The dream crashed away with the persistent waves.

Happy 2024 Fic Challenge!

@jandjsalmon and I are here with the new fic reading challenge for 2024! Heck yeah! Jandy did most of the work this year, I'll be honest, and the new challenge looks great!

For the uninitiated, basically there's a bunch of tasks to complete as you read fanfiction over the year. For example, read x number of authors, read a new ship, read a fic with x in the title, etc.! It can be a fun way to challenge yourself, or to help you read more, or to discover new things you might never have tried!

But here, without further ado...

Remember that for any of these spreadsheets, you need to 'make a copy' for your own use. Otherwise you won't be able to edit anything!

We also have completion badges every year, and here are last year's as an example. (They are adorable.)

And, of course, there are rules (with a helpful FAQ).

Anyone is welcome to join, even if you don't hang out with us in the Discord! And the whole challenge is done on the honour system. You say you completed Extreme Mode? I ain't checking that out! :P

He pressed a kiss to Scorpius’s sleeping head before joining Hermione and her parents by the fire outside the cottage, wrapping her hand tightly within his own.

Harry Potter, his bare chest with its intricate tattoos on display, in his bed. A tangible being to replace the ghost of his dreams.

“If you’re not going to do something, Nott, I will,” Harry’s words came out breathless and Theo grinned, his hands moving to the zipper of his jeans.
