Fic Recommendation #274
Comments: This is the latest thing I have read, and I do quite enjoy it. It begins with regular Fenton family antics – and then of course brings in some Batfam antics – to make this wonder fic.
Title: Vacation Crashers
Author: Imp_y
Fandom(s): Batman and Danny Phantom
Synopsis: Batman crashes in the wilderness following up a lead in a recent case.
Meanwhile the Fenton family was having a camping trip to celebrate Jazz's last year as a "kid", but considering who suggested the location, it spelt disaster.
Now Danny and Jazz have to survive an onslaught of ghosts, take care of an injured Batman, and while worrying about their parents.

Fic Recommendation #273
Comments: Interesting concept, AMAZING fic. I love Stiles and always love a good fic with him in it that fits my tastes. Longer fic for sure – hopefully I can come across a short one to recommend soon.
Title: Frost Bite
Author: Nyxelestia
Fandom(s): MCU and Teen Wolf
Synopsis: The last living relative of Bucky Barnes seems to be a normal teenager in a quiet and weird little town in California.
The keyword being 'seems'.
“You’re Captain America!” the boy shouted in disbelief.
Steve smiled and nodded sheepishly. He glanced at the sheriff, whose eyebrows were also going up as he looked Steve over, and then looked back at the boy.
“Yeah, I…I am. The original one,” Steve added, focusing on the boy. “Your grand-uncle…Bucky Barnes was my best friend growing up, and his family practically adopted me when my own died. I…I always planned to come back to his family, even after he died. When I…woke up, a few months ago, I looked for his family. And that’s…well, you.”
Stiles’ mouth opened and closed as he gaped in shock.

Fic Recommendation #272
Comments: Oh my gods, I loved this fic. I have lived too long without reading this, though I first read it right around the time it finished. I would recommend this a dozen times over. Love the author, too, as they are my favorite Merlin author as well. Could very well be my favorite Percy Jackson fanfiction thus far.
Title: Fishing in Alaska
Author: CaffeinatedFlumadiddle
Fandom(s): Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Synopsis: “This… this would qualify as a mental breakdown, right?” Triton asked, frowning over his shoulder to where Percy was still fuming in the corner. The lady at the counter curiously glanced over before lifting a questioning brow. “My brother – half-brother, technically, I have much better breeding – decided to run away from home to where our father can’t reach him and now he won’t leave. And now I can’t leave unless he leaves,” Triton continued. Percy opened his mouth to object that wasn’t what happened at all, but the tyrant only waved a hand to silence him. “He’s seen war or whatever, so if you could maybe just drug him then I’ll throw him into a suitcase and we can be out of here by the Summer Solstice!”
Silence. Finally, the woman cleared her throat and turned to Percy.
“I’m guessing he’s the one you want checked into the mental hospital?” She asked. Triton gasped as Percy punched the air in victory.
“Aha!”
Or
Getting in trouble works a little differently when your parent is an all-powerful god. Sometimes you have to escape to the land beyond gods and get your immortal brother turned human to drag you back so you can be exploded a million pieces. You know, normal teenage stuff.

Fic Recommendation #271
Comments: Love this short little fic. I know I don’t post much in terms of strictly Danny Phantom, I rather like the crossovers, but this is a pretty good short fic to read.
Title: when I am dead, my dearest
Author: redrobin1989
Fandom(s): Danny Phantom
Synopsis: Valerie knew logically that ghosts were created from the souls of dead people but it was another thing to be confronted with that knowledge from her greatest ghostly enemy. How is she supposed to deal with Phantom knowing he died and no one in his family noticed?

Fic Recommendation #270
Comments: Cannot remember the last time I recommended a fic from my favorite tv show, other than one that stole my heart, Every Letter That You Write Me. This is the same author, my favorite Buffy author, coming back after finishing the formerly mentioned fic to write another masterpiece. Not finished yet, but I believe in this author and this fic wholeheartedly. I hope other Buffy fans enjoy this as much as I did.
Title: Dress My Body All in Flowers White
Author: othellia
Fandom(s): Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Synopsis: The year is 1878. William Pratt is a timid auditor for the Watcher's Council. Buffy Summers is an angry, recently kidnapped Potential. When Buffy refuses to obey the Council's orders, William is forced to make a choice—stand back and allow the girl's execution... or take her and flee.

Fic Recommendation #269
Comments: I have read so many ML fics from the various times that I hyper fixated on them tbh. Love this one and I hope y’all do, too.
Title: Missing
Author: ChaoticNeutral
Fandom(s): Miraculous Ladybug
Synopsis: Marinette and Ladybug are one and the same. No matter what happens, she is always helping people, regardless of the form she takes. However, with time and kindness comes expectation, and it can be easy to miss just how much good she does or overlook what she's accomplished, especially with the current conflict regarding Lila. But no matter what happens, people can take solace in the fact that she'll still be there.
At least until there's a battle against an akuma with the power to erase people and Ladybug is hit.
Fortunately, Ladybug remains standing tall and ever present.
But the "Everyday Ladybug" isn't.

Fic Recommendation #268
Comments: Okay, y’all, hopefully this is the first of many fic recs this year. I’m truly a sucker for DPxDC fics, as my favorite fics when I first started reading fanfiction were often under that category. I love the concept of Danny being Damian’s long lost brother for approximately the same reasons I like crossovers where he is the long lost brother of Dick Grayson, which I don’t know how to elaborate. I could consider this perhaps my second favorite fic of this crossover with this concept, though I am certainly the kind of person to read the same trope over and over and never get bored. Tomorrow will be a ML fic, I believe, so stay tuned!
Title: Phantom Children
Author: apotheosis_avaritia
Fandom(s): Batman and Danny Phantom
Synopsis: DANIEL JAMES FENTON WAS DEAD. Or, at least, dead-er, though only very few people would know of that fact.
His body was found at the bottom of a cliff, under a particularly sharp turn on a very windy road. The car he had been driving crumpled like an assignment found at the bottom of a backpack that was two weeks due. He is found by a search party two days after he had been reported missing; the authorities ended up identifying him from his driver’s license, tucked away safe in his back pocket.
/
Or: Once upon a time, Talia al Ghul gave her first child away to a family that would keep him safe. But Danny Fenton is more like his parents than anyone realized, and Ra's al Ghul is very curious of his grandson who defied death till the very end.

Y’ALL
I was getting some posts queued up for the next week, as I’m still trying to be better about posting, and I realized that we’ve reached 200 followers! Never thought that would happen, tbh. I will start getting posts up and I will be developing a spreadsheet so that people can scroll through what I’ve recommended in the past. Plus, I’m a big fan of spreadsheets. I have through Friday queued thus far. Everyday there should be a post around 4pm Chicago time. Love y’all, hope you guys had a good winter break and some nice holidays!
P.S. For those who are curious, I have a link to the spreadsheet right here. If you feel things should be added to the spreadsheet to make it better let me know. I’ve only just started it so it only has the first forty fic recs from this blog up thus far. Throughout the week I will work on getting it completely up to date.

Me, realizing that I haven’t posted in ages:
Tumblr media
But for real, I plan on trying to get a regular schedule up by my birthday (12/18/21) if not by tomorrow. Finals are finishing up tomorrow afternoon. I have plenty of fics I’ve been reading, I just haven’t been rec’ing. I will likely be abandoning the Weekly Book Rec, however, because it seems like other bloggers could do it better and I frankly am so absorbed by fanfiction that I rarely read books anymore. I may start a new weekly thing with the 300th fic rec, but I am undecided. If there’s anything you want to see in the next couple weeks, let me know!

Book Recommendation #11
Comments: Loved it first because it had dragons, and it kept me interested with all the worldbuilding. Nice that it had a glossary of spells in the back of the book.
Title: Eragon
Series: Inheritance Cycle
Author: Christopher Paolini
Synopdsis: One boy...
One dragon...
A world of adventure.
When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.
Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands.

Fic Recommendation #267
Comments: Love me a Merlin fic, especially when our two main characters are doing their usual dumb shenanigans.
Title: A Waiting Game
Author: CaffeinatedFlumadiddle
Fandom(s): Merlin
Synopsis: In which Arthur slowly loses his mind after legalizing magic in Camelot because his idiot of a manservant still won't admit he's a freaking sorcerer... No worries though. He has a plan. A well-developed, patented, highly intelligent plan that would absolutely lead to Merlin becoming his court sorcerer (because the one he has right now was a complete dimwit).
Too bad Merlin also has a plan. A well-developed, patented, highly intelligent plan to not tell Arthur he has magic under any circumstances whatsoever.

Fic Recommendation #264
Comments: So, my dudes, ignoring the fact that it’s been a couple months since I posted, this is an amazing fic. It is also my first Percy Jackson fic in awhile that really caught my interest. AND it’s got a sequel, which I personally cannot wait to read.
Title: Hold Tight and Pretend It’s a Plan
Author: Rynna_Aurelia
Fandom(s): Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus
Synopsis: Olympus has fallen.
The second Gigantomachy has ended far differently than the first, and in Gaea's triumph, the world has been torn apart. But the Fates have seen what ends their failed meddling have brought, look on at the dead—and undo what should never have happened the only way they possibly can.
Perseus Jackson, son of Poseidon, is returned to his twelve-year-old self, memories intact and determined to save everyone he can. But he is not alone.
The Moirai underestimated the strength of the Lord of Time when stealing his power, and there is something about this particular demigod brat that intrigues him. . .
Perseus Jackson came roaring to life with a violent gasp, green eyes wild. After a moment of panicked flailing and struggling to breathe, his fear-filled gaze settled upon a girl with blonde hair and stormy grey eyes, her face stern and unimpressed.
"You drool in your sleep."

Fic Recommendation #263
Comments: Unfortunately there’s a bit of Adrien bashing in this, but other than that I really enjoy this fic and I hope y’all do, too. P.S. I typed this on mobile so I apologize for any formatting issues.
Title: No More Dead Robins (or little Ladybugs)
Author: Runespour
Fandom(s): Miraculous Ladybug and Batman
Synopsis: Fresh out of the Lazarus Pit, Jason had one plan: Take up Talia on her inter-continental training montage until he was strong enough to take out Batman. When his training takes him to France however, Jason learns about the newest supervillian on the streets. Correction: The newest supervillain and superheroes. Seeing an untrained tiny thing flying around the city in red and black was a bit more triggering than he had expected. One dead Robin was more than enough for Jason and he is definately not going to let this little bundle of sunshine and rainbows end the same way he did.

Book Recommendation #10
Comments: Alrighty, the book recs are officially moved to Fridays, as promised. This particular book is based in the Avatar the Last Airbender universe and, as someone who loves Avatar, I find this book to be quite enjoyable.
Title: The Rise of Kyoshi
Series: The Kyoshi Novels
Author: F.C. Yee
Synopsis: F. C. Yee’s The Rise of Kyoshi delves into the story of Kyoshi, the Earth Kingdom–born Avatar. The longest-living Avatar in this beloved world’s history, Kyoshi established the brave and respected Kyoshi Warriors, but also founded the secretive Dai Li, which led to the corruption, decline, and fall of her own nation. The first of two novels based on Kyoshi, The Rise of Kyoshi maps her journey from a girl of humble origins to the merciless pursuer of justice who is still feared and admired centuries after she became the Avatar.

Fic Recommendation #262
Comments: Love this fic, I just went and gave it a reread yesterday. It’s Bucky-centric for a bit and then shifts to more of Peter’s point of view. (I would apologise for the lack of follow-through on this blog but y’know, it’d start to sound like a broken record). Hope y’all enjoy this read as much as I did!
Title: we leave through the fire
Author: justanotherblond
Fandom(s): MCU
Synopsis: They called the soldier into a training room where he saw his son hanging upside down on the ceiling.
“Hi Papa!” He cheered, waving with a big smile even though the soldier never gave one back.
“Look, Soldat, your son is a miracle,” an agent cackled, yellow teeth shining in the fluorescent lights, “crawling the walls like a little spider!”
***
The soldier doesn’t remember his son’s birth or how he came to be. He doesn’t remember bedding a woman and watching her belly swell, but they said the boy was his. He does know that he will protect and teach the boy within the confines of their cell walls. Even when the handlers berate him. Even when the good guys take him away
