Frozen Flotsam by 馃摲 Petri Varsa
Via Flickr:
A frozen log rests on the ice of the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I think it’s kind of interesting that the log ended up on top of the ice. Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2002. Canon FTb Kodak Kodachrome 64 Scanned using a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED with the FH-835S 35mm strip film tray.

Canon FTb on the Rocks by 馃摲 Petri Varsa
Via Flickr:
A Canon FTb body with FD f2.8 200 mm prime lens rests on the river bed of the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I don’t usually take shots like this. I don’t know what came over me. Perhaps I took it because this is the first time I ever had two camera bodies in my camera bag? Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2002. Canon FTb Kodak Kodachrome 64 Scanned using a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED with the FH-835S 35mm strip film tray.

A Brace of Mallard Ducks - Kodachrome by 馃摲 Petri Varsa
Via Flickr:
A paired couple of mallard ducks swim in the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Eventually, I will post a similar picture taken using Kodak Royal Gold 200 film for comparison. (I accidentally got my film uploads out of order.) I had two FTb camera bodies at the time, and it became my habit to load slide film in one, for art, and negative film in the other for snapshots. However, sometimes I took comparison shots like this. Although I really liked Kodak’s Royal Gold line of negative films, I think the Kodachrome shot has better colour. I guess that is not too surprising. Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2002. Canon FTb Canon FD 200 mm f2.8 prime lens Kodak Kodachrome 64 Scanned using a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED with the FH-835S 35mm strip film tray.

48 St. and 32 Ave. NW by 馃摲 Petri Varsa
Via Flickr:
A residential street in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I lived at the corner of 48 St. and 32 Ave. NW in Calgary, AB. Calgary uses an intelligent grid system, so that one can “easily” find any address, just from the street name and house number. Unfortunately, stubborn geography often got in the way. At this intersection 48 St. magically turned into 50 St. when you crossed 32 Ave. So people driving West on 32 Ave. would not be able to find the house, since the house numbers would jump over the whole block that contained my house. It was hell to order a pizza or call a cab. I always needed to wait at the window for them to call me after they couldn’t find my place. Good times. Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2002. Canon FTb Kodak Kodachrome 64 Scanned using a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED with the FH-835S 35mm strip film tray.

Contrail by 馃摲 Petri Varsa
Via Flickr:
A contrail as seen in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is really just a test of a Canon FTb camera body I had recently purchased. I paired it with a 200 mm lens to take this test shot. Meh. Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2002. Canon FTb Kodak Kodachrome 64 Scanned using a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED with the FH-835S 35mm strip film tray.

An Alberta Alley by 馃摲 Petri Varsa
Via Flickr:
A back alley in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In Calgary, they are still fond of developing residential neighbourhoods with back alleyways for parking, pedestrian use, and refuse collection. It was a system that I was not used to, and it’s annoying because they are not cleared of snow in the wintertime. However, they do improve the curb-side appeal of a home. Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2002. Canon FTb Kodak Kodachrome 64 Scanned using a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED with the FH-835S 35mm strip film tray.

A black rabbit hides in the shadows in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A little more shadow detail would have been nice with this exposure, but at least you can see the stare of his sloe eyes.
