denki proposes to hitoshi in their apartment on they’re ‘middle birthday’ (the day in between both of their birthdays) when they’re 25, after 10 years of knowing one another and 8 years of dating.

denki locks their cats in the guest room so they don’t mess up the arrangement, the arrangement being thousands of different coloured sticky notes, ones that he’s collected over the years.

on each sticky note is a handwritten little note about small (or big) milestones in their relationship. the first one stating how cool he thought hitoshi looked, dating back to their first encounter, the time hitoshi threatened class a, just before the sports festival.

they’re all filled with denkis messy handwriting, saying things like “shinsou likes cats, i also like cats, coincidence?? -06.04.20**”, “he asked me on a date,,, this is where it begins boys -14.08.20**” and “i think i just fell in love with him… yup definitely just fell in love with him -27.11.20**”

(you’re probably wondering why he’s been writing these notes since the first time he ever saw hitoshi, right? well all i’m gonna say is that from the moment he first saw him, denki could tell that hitoshi was going to be someone to him, that he was going to be important to him, and guess what folks, he was right)

they’re all layed out on the floor, leading hitoshi from the front door to the door of their shared bedroom. he only skimmed the thousands of sticky notes, but he definitely reads the last one. it says “i’m about to ask you to marry me, wish me luck ! -30.06.20**” he reads it over and over again, he reads it for so long that denki has to call out from behind the door to get him to open it already.

“hitoshi please open the door my knee hurts and not in the good way, well yes in a good way but not like that good way y’know? for real though it’s kinda tiring can you hurry up a little, not to be pushy or anything like take your time if you need it but i’m shaking so much right now and you’re not saying anything, and i’m rambling oh god i’m ruining this aren’t i? hitoshi please open this fucking door and let me propose !”

“oh fuck sorry yeah okay” hitoshi snaps back to reality, opening the door as fast as he could, hoping to god he wouldn’t hit denki (he didn’t dw). when the door was finally opened, hitoshi looked down to see denki on one knee wearing a dark blue suit over a band tee and paired with his lil ducky socks, holding a sleek, black ring box.

the box was opened to reveal a black ring, a plain looking band, but as he looked closer he saw the engravings on the inside of the ring. ‘forever, my love’. hitsohi wanted to cry, it was perfect, it was so prefect, everything happening at that moment was perfect; denki, the ring, the sticky notes, everything. everything apart from the fact that he hasn’t said a single word in the past few minutes.

“yes”

“toshi, i haven’t even asked you yet”

“oh shit sorry,, go on”

denki let out a slight nervous laugh, he was so ready for this.

“hitoshi shinsou, my moon, my everything, my person, will you marry me?”

“FUCKING YES OH MY GOD YES”

later that night all that was trending on every site (for the next month at least) was denkis newest instagram post, it was a few of his favorite photos of him and hitoshi, ones from over the years, and ones from that very night.

the post was captioned “fiancé reveal lol”.

and in the very last slide you could spot the newest addition to the sticky note collection, it read “YOU SAID YES !!<333 -30.06.20**”

(<33 this is also my first attempt at proper writing instead of just head cannons (not that they don’t count but you know what i mean))
