The Greatest of These Hope Faith Love These words are your strength. But your defining qualities feel unfamiliar to me. Have you seen love? Look into my heart; I could show you your god. Take me to confession. I would stay for days recounting each transgression. I could fall for you. That fall could be my salvation, if you would fall with me.

a reminder of love - 1 corinthians 13:4-7, 8, and 13 🩷 ; “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ; Love never fails. ; And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

“So these three things continue forever: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.” —1 Corinthians 13:13 (NCV)
“And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.” —1 Corinthians 13:13 (AMP)
Faith makes everything possible. Hope makes everything work. Love makes everything beautiful. May you have all the three as you begin each day. Amen. 🙏

Knowledge Puffs Up, So Here's What You Really Ought to Know:
Knowledge Puffs Up, So Here’s What You Really Ought to Know:
Counter-intuitive For a man who knew a lot, the Apostle Paul had some interesting advice about knowledge. “And if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.” (1 Corinthians 8:2 KJV) A long time ago I chose this as my life verse, thinking that having an arbitrarily closed mind is not really a Christian attribute, that knowledge in itself has limited value,…

No but I think it's so kind that in episode seven that officer died to save the kids and it was brutal and awful, but then it turns out he was already betrayed, he was already doomed. And that's terrible itself as well but it just feels so kind of the narrative to take that guilt off their shoulders, to say no, these children carry so much already, they don't also have to carry the guilt for that, the weight of how he would have lived if they had left. He wouldn't have lived. He died saving people. It's a cruelty but it's a kindness for them. Sometimes the narrative (a narrative about death and loss and incompetence and malice and cruelty born of cowardice) can be gentle in its own twisted way.
