I initially did this design for my friend to use this character in his webcomic 👀 it was really nice of him to ask me to design one that would play such a huge role in one of his arcs. Apparently he liked my design so much he just took it and ran with it by adding a lot of story tie-in elements to what I gave him ahhaha My prompt from him was essentially just, edgy circus master. And I'm like yeap, Maestro >:Uc The name 'Maestro' I put as placeholder was eventually used as well ahfjksdf Also read his comic heuheuheu https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/omelette-of-demons/list?title_no=512909&page=1

What the robot version of Birde and the other Sonic cast looks like to me.
I wish Tiger Electronics still made the Poo-chi line of toys.

Chirpy-Chi (チャピーチ), Sega Toys, Tokyo, Japan (2000). Chirpy-Chi is a robotic bird in the KOKO-ROBO series of toys. The Chirpy-Chi bird can sing up to 40 songs, turns its head and flaps its wings. It's interactive, reacting to light, sound, and touch, and it also has a magnetic sensor that enables it to sense the corn feed accessory.
"Congratulations! With your new Chirpy-Chi, you now have a special friend. Chirpy-Chi is the Interactive Bird that loves to play, sing and chirp! He also imitates other animal sounds as he gets older - see if you can tell which animal he’s imitating! Advanced biorhythmic technology enables Chirpy-Chi to have many different moods and feelings, watch his eyes and his motions to see how he is feeling. His biorhythms also enable him to grow and change from a baby bird into a mature bird. Because Chirpy-Chi’s behavior pattern does start as a baby, it is very important to feed him and play with him often while he is still “developing”. This will help make Chirpy-Chi a happier bird as he grows up!"

Wo-Chien + the other Ruins -
It's been quite a while since he thought about them. Chi-Yu is the main Ruin that's on his mind from time to time, mainly due to the fish being a source of very strong feelings of envy and jealousy that Wo doesn't want to see be cast upon any unaware humans or Pokemon.
He does reminisce about his 'childhood', usually when he's by himself in his shrine. Wo describes those moments as "Something to pass the time if I don't want to go outside.". When he does choose to do that, he tries to go back as far as possible too.
Back in 'The Old Eastern Territories', there were four villages, each being home to one of the Treasures. The village that was at the base of the region's dormant volcano had the beads, the one situated half-way up a snow-covered mountain had the sword, the one found within a dark forest had the tablets, and the one that was located in the remains of a sinkhole had the vessel.
Over time, the people of each village found themselves needing to create 'guardians' or 'holders' for each of the artifacts. After some discussions between the village leaders about what should be created, they settled on four unique creatures, each constructed out of the nearest available materials - a goldfish made of fire, a donkey made of hardened clay, a kitten/ferret hybrid made of ice and snow, and a housecat-sized slug made of vines, leaves and dirt. Once they had been created and brought to life by a life-giving ritual that was written on one of the grass village's tablets, the people got to see what their villages' leaders had been doing.
Until the 'carriers' got to hold the Treasures, the village leaders decided to introduce them to each other when they were able to recognize their surroundings. The four creatures spent time getting to know each other in their own ways, which helped to develop their own personality traits.
The fish was eager to gain attention from those around it and had a bit of a tantrum whenever it didn't succeed. The donkey was quiet and vigilant, looking around at everything and everyone with widened eyes. The kitten/ferret was very active, but often couldn't control itself whenever it got excited about its new friends. The slug was very fearful and skittish, preferring to stay out of the way while the others played.
Eventually, the young slug plucked up enough courage to start trying to make friends with the kitten/ferret. The latter was cautious at first, but soon learned that the one talking to him(in a combo of squeaky and chirpy sounds) wasn't someone to be feared. Soon, both of them became best friends.
The people of the villages decided to give them names after seeing them become friendly with each other. The names were connected to the item that they would end up holding later on. The donkey was named 'Ding-Lu', the fish got the name 'Yu-Yu', the kitten/ferret was named 'Pao-Jian', and the slug was called 'Jian-Wo'. As soon as they were made big enough to do so, the Treasures were given to them. Lu wore the vessel on its back, Yu held the beads around his eyes, Pao had the sword in a scabbard attached to a harness on his side, and, like Lu, Wo also had the tablets on his back.
After being given the artifacts, the creatures were given their roles by their villages. Lu was guided around and helped with carrying things from place to place within the village walls. Yu was situated underneath their village and helped to share the heat needed for various tasks between everyone living there. Pao and Wo ended up with similar roles within their villages - being that of the village messengers. They would take things that got written down across the region. Their traveling locations were different - Pao went across high-up and often quite dangerous places, while Wo dashed through fields and caves.
Soon, Pao and Wo were given combined delivery missions by both the grass and ice villages, mostly out of convenience. That did end up making both mons quite happy, as they had become quite close as they worked together on their previous assignments. During one mission, they ended up getting lost in the mountains. As a blizzard raged outside the cave that they had found, they held each other close, which helped to make them both feel safer.
--
The artifacts ended up being corrupted by one negative emotion over time. The beads collected the feeling of envy from those around them. The feelings then seeped into Yu's body form, making him feel the same way. The vessel collected fear from those around it, and, just like Yu, the feeling managed to get into Lu's body form, making him become overcome with anxiousness and paranoia. The sword gathered the hatred for those around it, but, unlike the first two, the feeling didn't alter Pao's personality, as the artifact wasn't directly attached to him. The tablets were the ones that gathered the biggest amount of negativity. Unlike the other artifacts, which only got one emotion, the tablets collected all sorts of different feelings. All of them, after they managed to get into Wo's body form, managed to completely overwhelm him. When that happened, the snail found himself on the ground, hoping that things calmed down sooner rather than later.
When the merchant came to take the Treasures, he found the tablets after Wo had become so overwhelmed by the negativity that they held that he had torn them off himself, falling over out of exhaustion when too many were removed. The merchant didn't need to do much when he obtained them, as Wo had become a pile of leaves, which got blown away as the tablets were being collected.
--
Nowadays, Wo-Chien is relieved to be the only one able to roam freely around Paldea, despite having the 'Ruin' title. He knows that Lu, Yu and Pao are not to be rediscovered, and warns anyone who becomes too curious about them to not try to do so.
Wo was the one who released the other Ruins before anyone else could do so. He didn't get to do much with Ting-Lu, and fought with Chi-Yu for quite a while before the goldfish burnt him and got away. After Wo recovered, he went after Chien-Pao. He chased the leopard until he managed to catch him, before they began to fight.
The fight lasted quite a long time, as it was frequently stopped by Pao running off and forcing Wo to chase him.
Eventually Wo managed to catch Pao again. He restrained him to stop him from trying to run off again. After subduing him with several uses of Giga Drain, Wo used a pokeball that he borrowed from a traveler to contain him.
The pokeball that contains the leopard is currently in a PC box in an out-of-the-way pokemon center that travelers rarely visit. Wo decided to do that to it to make sure that the leopard never sees the light of day again.
He wants to do the same thing to Chi-Yu, but he can't get near to him without running the risk of being reduced to ashes by the goldfish's rage.

Weird dream I had:
I saw some silly straws at a shop with Chirpy-Chi figures on them and one with a Meow-Chi figure. The figures weren’t too small. A Chirpy-Chi one I saw was silver and looked like a battery-operated toy, and another one I saw was yellow and it looked a little different from Chirpy-Chi. It had missing pieces and looked like it was made out of cheaper plastic (possibly a bootleg?). Iirc, it was either missing its wings or had them molded on, and there were green plastic dots where its eyes were supposed to be but it looked like they had gone missing. I stopped walking to pick the silver one so my mum could buy it. I looked at the boxes they came in and if I remember right, it looked like the rights for the toys had been passed onto another company which was selling them instead of Hasbro and the boxes didn’t label the toys as Robo-Chi pets. The packaging looked a little like something a generic toy would come in. When I got home to see if it really did need batteries I found out I somehow ended up with the yellow broken one instead and was wondering if I had picked the wrong one.

Ok there’s something that’s bugging me. Kari skogland has said that tfatws is “the most important show of the century” & I’m just ????? Ma’am it is a superhero show pls sit down. It really rubs me the wrong way when compounded with a lot of the other stuff she has said. It just feels like both she & spellman have just gone around patting themselves on the back. & while yes I do think it’s important to be passionate about the projects you’re working on I just felt like this was such an over exaggeration. Is the show important, particularly in regards to representation? Yes. But saying that it’s more important than any other show made this century is just waaaayyyy overkill & comes across as really egotistical
For anyone interested, her full quote is here:
I believe this is the most important show of the century. We were taking on a Black man picking up that shield and what that meant and what that was going to look like in a very racially charged time. That was a really important image to look at and to explore. We had to not pull any punches and really dig into it.
Look, I know what she's trying to say. For Sam to take on the mantle of Captain America, for our world's America, it is momentous. It should have been treated with care and thoughtfulness and been made the focus of the story.
My beef was always that the MCU is so considerably different to our world that without establishing the parameters within the MCU, I could never transpose what was happening in our world onto the MCU, but the series expects a lot of assumptions and emotional baggage to be pre-existing in the audience. For example, while watching Shang-Chi, I would never for a moment imagine there was any parallel with our world, because imperial China would not have accommodated someone like Wenwu (or he would have usurped the emperor himself and stayed in power for millenia).
My other beef is that the show and movies never define what "Captain America" means. Bucky said, "that shield means different things to a lot of people" (or was it "a lot of things to different people"?) and I bet you that's true in the audience too. If you ask 100 MCU fans what "the shield" and "Captain America" mean, you'll get at least 50 different answers. But the show expects us to function on one definition which it then avoids defining.
As for the hyperbole of "most important show of the century", that's Americentricism speaking again. If there's one thing that TFATWS has done, it's to exacerbate the Americentricism in the fandom, with a lot of loud voices expecting the American experience to be the true and universal human experience.
I kinda really want Cap 4 to be a happy fest of Sam just kicking ass, you know? I feel like black people in America have had a really rough two years, and do you really want to see Sam go through the wringer again? Why not do something light-hearted and triumphant, and show Sam having the support of his community and his people? The MCU was content being a chirpy escape fantasy for people like Peter Quill and Tony Stark, why can't it do that for Sam?
