oh yes on the topic of submissions...

i had one from someone in my inbox from YONKS ago that tumblr is not letting me post for some reason. that person also sent me an ask about whether i could provide links to the videos/places i found the comments on (i would just answer their ask but it explicitly references their submission which, again, tumblr won't let me post... and also it was from ages ago) so let me answer that here

unless i think that mentioning the source amplifies the comment, or provides some humorous context, i usually don't do that as a general rule. if someone asks for the comment source and i still remember what it was, i'll tell them, but i don't tend to mention it explicitly on the post itself

i don't tend to redact pfps or usernames (to give some form of credit to the authors of the comments, sometimes they make the comment better, they're already public on the internet & usually posted on videos by youtubers exponentially more popular than my blog & usually post obscure comments i had to scroll for quite a while to find anyway, it's fun when someone recognizes their own username, etc etc), so this is an alternate method of security against people trying to be weirdos to the featured commenters. most of my posts come from youtube, which doesn't even have a direct messaging system anymore, which is simultaneously why i feel fairly comfortable leaving pfps/usernames unredacted on these comments and why i feel it's better if i try not to provide TOO many context hints at least in the actual text of the post. just on the off chance some bitter weirdo wants to try being a bitter weirdo, you know? and if someone goes all the way out of their way to try and track these comments down explicitly to bully these people, then at this point, it kinda seems like redacting that stuff wouldn't have helped anyway. while i definitely do not condone harassing anyone from here, i also... don't think it'd exactly be My fault there, and entirely the fault of this hypothetical extremely brainrotted rando. this has, to my knowledge, never once happened, but just putting that out there

i do give little hints or context notes in the tags on occasion, under the general assumption that anyone following this blog knows that this is a place of comment appreciation, an art gallery of Internet Humans. usually it only extends to mentioning the youtuber or what type of video it was, but as a general statement. this is the other part of my philosophy here: i enjoy hunting for comments as a sort of peoplewatching-esque hobby and i think other people should try it out (so long as they have the self-restraint to NOT reply to people even if they make you mad. it's never worth it man.). i also think it'd be a fun treat for someone to only get a hint, figure out what video it was, and then go on their own hunt and see the comments in the wild. i often skip over Loads that don't quite make the cut so you'll probably find something else fun in there

does that make sense? it does to me. anyway if anyone ever wants to know where i found a comment just ask and i'll tell you, so long as i remember. fair warning, the older the post the comment is on, the more likely i am to have forgotten what specific video it was. i usually at least have a vague idea of the original poster and/or the content/topic of the video but sometimes i don't

#not comments #i can tell you right now anything 2021 or earlier was very likely from someone in the drew gooden/danny gonzalez commentary youtuber bubble #contemporaneously and as per my personal taste at the time: drew/danny/cody ko/eddy burback/maybe jarvis johnson?#never really been into kurtis's style so idk if there's anything from him on here #i watched jarvis back then the question mark pertains mostly to whether any of the comments came from his videos #danny has Loads of videos more subs and an audience that skews younger than the rest #(because his style of humor is more accessible/appealing to a wider audience than say drew's extremely dry humor)#(and also he's got a young face. people constantly comment stuff like 'i forget he isn't 16 until he mentions his wife')#so most of my posts are likely from a danny video somewhere #the hamster with a handgun was from his video titled something like DOGS ARE CANCELLED #there were approximately 500 other comments making that exact same joke but the hamster one was the funniest imo #i don't even care if it was a piggyback comment. '31 warning shots directly into his stomach' was leagues ahead of the rest #anyway. there's my tip and trick if you're curious about older posts #there are exceptions and anytjing 2022 and beyond is more ambiguous #cause my posts were more sporadic i think because video essays were getting more popular & i don't find as many postable comments on those #but i was and am addicted to them #so rather than being able to say 'oh probably a commentary youtuber it was all i was watching' the really good comments are like #'ummm... hmmm... well this one was on some random how it's made video... this was a minecraft video... this was jerma...'#anyway. i have gotten distracted. need to go do some non-comment writing. some big boy writing

Cody is actually really smart

All though Cody is considered as Geeky and perverted, he’s actually kinda smart, e.i he built Gwen’s face with a bunch of boat parts.

There was also that one time he did some math in the fear-factor, with some sort of calculator(idk it looked like a whole ass phone)

He managed to trick Justin into thinking the paparazzi were there, quite easily too :/

Also not sure if this counts but he did managed to use Sierra not leaving him alone to his advantage when Al tried to get Sierra to vote for heather by photoshopping Cody and heather cuddling

Cody and Tyler’s friendship

Everyone says that Cody’s friends are Trent, Harold, Owen, maybe Noah, Sierra, and heather which is true.

But In some scenes, Tyler and Cody seem to be friends as they not only did Tyler cheered for Cody when he fell into the state of liberty’s boobs, he also work with him, DJ, and Owen.

Not to mention he also helped Cody take a picture of him and Gwen.

Those two are friends and I stand by that.

Cody might be a photographer

For context, I saw a video on TikTok that point out that one of the photographers in the intro for revenge of the island sleeves look awful similar to Cody’s sleeve

I wouldn’t be surprised if he really did just say fuck it and went to do photography.

I know it could just have been the animators just not wanting to make a whole ass new character just for a brief moment where we don’t even see their face…but the possibility is still right there.

Cody’s hinted parent issues

I know I already made a post about researching about his parents might being terrible at taking care of their child but thats still in a work in process and this is just a little thing I’ve found out.

In in total dramaramra, Cody makes a few comments about his mom that paints the picture that she never pays attention to him.

He either mentions stuff that his mom would tell him to do, like getting an app to make friends that aren’t even real, or like that one time he said that his mom puts him in a dog costume to sneak him inside airports/airplanes.

Heck even Cody didn’t seem to remember what his mom looks like since he once asked if someone he didn’t know WAS his mom.

There’s a bit more but this is about facts and stuff, not theory’s or headcanons.

Okay, anyone whose watched the season 1 might remember the time Cody got mauled by a bear and what he looked like after it.

He may have healed up and all but did you see how fucked up he was? BRO LITERALLY HAD TO BE PUSHED IN A WHEELCHAIR AND WAS COVERED IN BANDAGES.

Cody’s strength and speed

Just like with him being smart, Cody is shown to be somewhat very fast.

He explains that he used to get hit spitballs in school so he learned how to dodge them.

Not to mention he can be seen sprinting after grabbing a bag chips from the floor after Beth said no to heather.

I bring that up because literally his voice sounds like nothing to what it sounded like in world tour. It sounded like he was just talking in his regular voice.

he was in a boy band with Trent, Harold, and Justin so there is a chance he started practicing his singing.

Okay, so for years I've been sheepishly telling people that my favorite genre of music is video game music ("sheepishly" because even though it's true it also sounds super dumb). I haven't relented and given my second choice (these days probably folkpunk? if that's even a genre?) because it wouldn't be true (and also because I kind of like the confusion on people's faces). HOWEVER. Even I recognize that "video game music" is far too broad and varied to truly give anyone an idea of what I listen to (Are we talking Mario music or the Journey OST? Minecraft atmospheric or 8-bit retro soundtracks? Persona 5 or Skyrim?).

So. I've put a lot of thought into how I can better represent what I'm truly into in just a few words. The phrase is still being workshopped, but I think "strong vocals atop orchestral music" might be a good start. I'm talking Donna Burke's "Sins of the Father" , Hozier's "Blood Upon the Snow", Darren Korb's "In The Blood", but also Fall Out Boy's "I Am My Own Muse", Lyn's "Last Surprise", Cody Fry's "I Hear a Symphony" (!!!), Evanescence's "My Immortal"..

Basically, I'm a slut I fall for "band kid bait", as my puzzle-friend calls it.

I saw Dune Part 2 yesterday with some girls from my department and it was AMAZINGGGGG. I mean I loved part 1 and part 2 was also just so good, the sci-fi, the politics, the battles, all so interesting and well-portrayed and compelling and immersive.

Today I'm thankful for a week of getting the apartment to myself!! It was such a lovely experience and I definitely learned that it's something I'll probably be looking for after this coming year. I've done the calculations and I can, in fact, make it work without fully sacrificing monthly savings. This spring/summer I'm going to check listings regularly to see what the market is like (you know, besides being wildly expensive).

giving camp camp characters a favorite song(s)

specifically camp campbell campers because i dont know enough about the other chaacters to really get a grasp of what their music tastes would be, and david and gwen are enigmas to me

preston: meant to be yours from heathers the musical. he appreciates everywhere at the end of time, too though, and the symbolism behind it. he's a big "what's the hidden meaning of this song" kinda guy. he definitely is the type for horribly romantic songs, i hear a symphony by cody fry and dramatic songs like that, and every single song from every single musical he's ever seen.

harrison: viva la vida by coldplay is his favorite song. it's probably his ringtone too. he likely listens to it on loop while doing homework. i like to think he likes the good part, 100 bad days, karma, and bud like you by ajr as well as high hopes by panic! at the disco, though. he probably really likes those songs but is the type to look into what other songs his favorite artists have made, so hes stuck listening to only those songs from ajr/panic! at the disco/coldplay.

nerris: tavern background audio music from youtube. you would think she was joking but she listens to it in their free time. just sitting there listening to wordless medevil tavern/festival music. they probably like critical hit by ghost mice too.

max: loved by fein. it's edgy but he'd blast it. he probably liked mccafferty before mccafferty turned out to be a shit human being. he likes the front bottoms and set it off too, but loved by fein takes the cake. he probably celebrated when mcr got back together, too.

nikki: doesn't often listen to music with words- it distracts her easily and she doesn't focus well with lyrics. so she usually listens to karaoke versions of songs.

neil: video game osts, minecraft, undertale, random obscure underground games, he has a playlist.

space kid: he likes whatever songs his mom likes. plain white ts, taylor swift, all of it. he hasn't branched out to many types of music other than what he's heard his whole childhood.

dolph: he's open to any types of music, but because he's literally nine years old (in my hc at least!!), he hasn't discovered many songs besides what comes on the radio in the car when he goes to school.

ered: similarly to max, she likes set it off and mcr, but she also likes rare americans (ryan & dave being her favorite) and lincoln (person who made saint bernard and smokey eyes)

nurf: i dont like him im going to add him in every one of these "giving camp camp characters X" lists just so i can make that clear. nurf hate club. eggs benefits ruined him for me im sorry

Here’s some things to know about me & my interests!

- I’m a 20-year-old cishet girl, I have been in a LOT of fandoms or more accurately, I’ve been obsessed with a lot of things and I never stop loving those things even when I fall out of my phases again and again, I eventually have a relapse in my obsessions sometimes. I joined tumblr bc I’ve heard that it is a very accepting place for fandoms and I’ve been on my Instagram fanpage/s for years where I have dealt with a bunch of unwelcome hate in addition to my real life middle school experience that still haunts me to this day, and I’m looking to finally have a safe social space where I won’t get any of that and I can be my true self and fangirl as hard as I possibly can. I’ve also watched Strange Æons’ yt videos about tumblr and I’m very interested in everything that happened in the world and on the internet when I was little and not allowed to have a phone (I’m a 2004 baby).

- My favorite YouTubers are Cody Ko, Athena P, Not Even Emily, ColeyDoesThings, Nickisnotgreen, Daz Games, HTHAZE, Smosh & their other channels, Strange Æons, TheOdd1sOut, Aaron and Jo, Jaiden Animations, Alex’s Corner, Chad Chad, Danny Gonzalez, Drew Gooden, Kurtis Conner, Duncanyounot, Rebal D, YAP TV, and lots more. I used to watch Amy Lee33 when I was 10 or 11 and now her videos are just nostalgic for me, and I used to love the Minecraft YouTuber, Aphmau until a little bit after she started posting content targeted at kids. I really miss her role play videos :(

- My favorite shows (including my childhood shows) are TMNT 2012, Lego Ninjago, MLP, VeggieTales, Manifest, Lucifer, Once Upon A Time, The 100, Merlin, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Boy Meets World, The Amazing World of Gumball, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Anne With An E, I guess I’m kinda invested in Riverdale, I haven’t seen every Friends episode but I’ve seen enough to ship Joey & Rachel, Martha Speaks, Dinosaur Train, Word Girl, Wild Kratts, Wonder Pets, Super Why, Jem and the Holograms, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Odd Squad, Horseland, and Olivia.

- My favorite music artists are Marcus & Martinus, Tiny Meat Gang, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Harry Styles, Ricky Montgomery, and more. To be clear, some of the artists I listen to are artists that I don’t know much about, I just like their music and I don’t have the energy to get to know who they are but I know a bunch about most of the artists that I listen to. I also love a lot of songs from artists that make royalty free music for Epidemic Pop like Loving Caliber, Lvly, and Tape Machines which is all thanks to Aphmau for using their songs in her YouTube videos.

-My favorite movies are Peter Pan (the 2003 live action movie) + many other Peter Pan movies, Mirror Mirror, Rise of the Guardians, Mune: Guardian of the Moon, the 1968 Romeo and Juliet movie, every old Barbie movie, Turning Red (that movie got me obsessed with 4⭐️Town and made me develop a crush on Robaire), and the Tinkerbell movies.

- My favorite ships are Jelsa (Jack Frost from ROTG and Elsa from Frozen) a very nostalgic ship for me that I got obsessed with when I was 10-12 and I’ve never stopped shipping it even though I’m not as obsessed as I used to be, the love square from Miraculous Ladybug, Laurmau from Aphmau’s Minecraft role play series, especially MCD, I used to ship Garmau in addition to shipping Laurmau but I think Garroth’s silliness in Mystreet kinda turned me off from the idea of him and Aphmau together so I just shipped Laurmau. I only ship Aarmau in the Mystreet series bc that’s the only series where it feels right for them to be canon (except for their age gap when they first met😬). Jess wrote Aarmau as the canon ship in almost every series she has created (besides the series that don’t have the characters Aphmau and Aaron in them) and I got really tired of it and wanted something new so I became a BIG Laurmau shipper. Travlyn and Zane~Chan from Aphmau’s series, I’ve shipped Peter Pan with Wendy in the original Disney movie and almost every adaptation of Peter Pan while also having a crush on him, Shirbert (Gilbert and Anne Shirley from Anne With An E), and Jerranne (Jerry & Anne from Anne With An E).

- I’m not really much of an anime person but I’m really enjoying Toradora at the moment

MrBeast Announces Creator Esports League He’s Not Actually A Part Of

Eight of the greatest influencers will play in a variety of competitions over the course of the first season as part of the Creator League, which Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson has unveiled. Despite announcing the league in his most recent video, Mr. Beast isn't actually associated with the competition. When the info for the Creator League arrived in my inbox my first thought was that this was finally the news of MrBeast getting involved in esports, something he has said previously that he is interested in. But upon further investigation, MrBeast isn’t actually involved other than being paid to announce the league and give away some of his chocolate to those who buy in. The Creator League does feature some of the biggest influencers in the world, so why they chose to spend a ton of money on getting MrBeast to advertise it seems a bit strange, when just using the people they have signed up would create a massive buzz around the product. But the team at eFuse, who are organizing the league, seem confident it is money well spent. “We wanted to amplify with one of the biggest megaphones, if not the biggest megaphone, in the world with MrBeast's reach,” says Matthew Benson, founder of eFuse. “You're absolutely right, these creators that are a part of the Founders Edition and the first season of Creator League are probably more than capable themselves, but if you're gonna go for the big shot and a big splash with this cool opportunity, might as well make it as big as you can go. So that was kind of the mentality.” The Creator League is a tournament series that will feature teams led by top influencers. There are some big names involved, although some of them are not exactly veterans of the esports scene. There are some names esports fans will know with OpTic Gaming being represented by Seth “Scump” Abner and Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, then Fortnite pro Cody "Clix" Conrod is also involved. Then there are a few personalities who create gaming content, but not necessarily in the esports space such as Minecraft player Sapnap and the streamer collective OTK. TikTok star VinnieHacker is best known for his non-gaming TikToks, but does play a lot of competitive games on his Twitch. But there are a few influencers who seem a little out of place, iShowSpeed is a streamer who will occasionally boot up FIFA for a few games and IRL streamer CdawgVA sometimes streams some games, but both of their main content areas are well away from the esports space. And perhaps the strangest inclusion of them all is TikToker and musician Bella Poarch. These creators will each lead a team in the Creator League, which kicks off with a Fortnite custom map tournament. There is an open qualifier for the tournament, which features a $50,000 prize pool with the top players getting a spot on their favorite creator's team. After the open qualifier is done there will be a launch show where the creators will draft their teams, and from there the league will get underway with the final of the first split taking place in early October with a $200,000 prize pool. However, creators do not have to actually play in the tournament if they don’t fancy it, so it may just be a lot of fans competing. At a minimum, the creators will actively manage their teams and broadcast games on their channels. A key part of the creator league is the Community Passes, which you can buy for $19.99. Each creator in the tournament has their own pass, and you can only have a pass for one creator, although you can buy multiple passes for the same creator if you want. The pass gives you the ability to vote on some areas of the tournament, including the players that are signed to the creator's team, the rules for the competition and what format future tournaments will take. There’s also the promise of exclusive access to the creators, including Discord servers that feature AMAs and potential in-person experiences with them, although specifics have not been revealed. There will also be weekly community tournaments for pass holders and giveaways, but unless you are really good at Fortnite or very lucky they might not offer much value. I’m struggling to see why you would want to buy one of these passes when the initial tournament qualifier seems to be open to everyone and all the action will be broadcast for free. So $19.99 for some voting power, access to smaller tournaments and the potential to interact with a personality seems a bit steep, however, the team has said they know they need to offer value for people who buy these passes. “I think what we've tried to do is wherever you fall on the spectrum of your competitive skill or your fandom, we want to provide value to you in some form,” says Benson. “So there's all kinds of different value adds and at the end of the day it's a decision that individuals have to make, but we feel confident. And I think another point that's important to know is the value that's listed day one is not the value that is like stagnant, we're always going to be adding more and more and more to try to prove out the value.” No doubt the Creator League will bring in a lot of viewers purely on the star power of the people involved, but if it wants to have any kind of longevity then I expect they will have to add more value to the $20 passes, otherwise, they may quickly have a lot of people who feel they didn’t get much out of their purchase. Though, now that you think about it, exposed nudes would have been better than your Punk!Harry edit receiving almost a million views. God, your life’s a fucking mess.

Your fans aren’t the only ones out for info - you, too, are trying to decipher Rae’s message. Code: Barbecue Sauce. The two of you had come up with it roughly two years ago, around the same time when you promised that if you didn’t find significant others by the time you’re 40, you’ll just marry each other. It was one of the many rules found in your friendship codex. Barbecue Sauce signifies information - an exchange of information. And depending on how it ends or begins (”So I’m sitting there” alludes to Rae, “On my titties” alludes to you), secret data on that person is given away, usually free of charge.

But why? And to whom did Rae give away what? You had pestered her mercilessly and even sent some voice messages where you were crying. You were only crying because of a video of a grandpa smiling you saw on TikTok, but you are a snake, and so you put those tears to good use. If streaming doesn’t work out, you’ll just become an actress. Hollywood would love you. Your PR firm sure as fuck wouldn’t, though.

Rae was having none of it. She said you’ll figure it out eventually. Told you to channel your superior puzzle skills. You were quick to remind her that you can barely count to ten without having an aneurysm. Oddly serious, she admitted that she worries for you sometimes. Why only sometimes?! you demanded. You leave her for barely a week and she’s already neck deep in the gay volleyball anime, hoodie and cardboard cutout and everything. Your life is falling apart.

But Brooklyn is nice. It had snowed when you stepped off of the plane. Thousands of snowflakes sprinkling into your hair, dotting your cheeks and nose. You missed this sight back in Cali. You missed your parents, too.

Home cooked meals, old sweaters, your old room and about 40GB worth of old high school pictures on your computer. You went through them all one night. Some were stomach churning, cringe inducing nightmares. You were especially fond of those. Texted some of your friends that were still in Brooklyn, met up, decided to bake. Bad idea, Rae was the resident chef back in Cali. Besides laughing till your stomach hurt, and almost burning down your kitchen, nothing all that significant happened. Somewhere down the line, at about 3 am, half-way through a cheesy rom-com you had the overwhelming urge to text Corpse.

That’s where the problems really started. God, you missed California, missed being in the same timezone with a guy you hadn’t even met yet, how embarrassing is that?! You missed skating around and taking pictures of the beach in the setting sun, sending it to him, silently wishing he was with you to admire the view.

You really want to call him. And to hang out with him. But for some reason, the thought of that springs up immediate anxiety and you shy away from asking. Him sending you cute good morning texts doesn’t help, either. Maybe it’s better he doesn’t know that you’re a blushing, stuttering mess each time you read “baby”.

Late evening. Your stream is already set up, people are slowly trickling in and you greet them with a grin and a soft “Hello! Hi hi!”. You did your best to make your room a perfectly chaotic backdrop - led lights, an embarrassing amount of anime merch and plushies. You always try to balance out your weeb side by dressing hot as fuck for your streams - today’s inspiration just so happens to be egirls. Mostly because you watched one too many egirl make-up tutorials on TikTok, and also because you’ve been listening to Corpse’s song all day.

Yeah, no, who are you kidding, you dressed up this way because you were hoping Corpse was watching your stream. You didn’t forget your cat headphones, either. You know he likes them. You want to make him suffer. Perhaps then, finally, he will ask you out, so you wouldn’t have to.

Another twenty minutes trickle by and you’re trying to lure back a panda from the jungle when there’s a knock on your bedroom’s door. Whipping your head to the side, you slide down your headphones. At the same time, your mom pokes her head through the ajar door, “MOM!” You scream, “Get OUT of my room I’m playing Minecraft!” But your yell has no actual bite to it, as you don’t manage to hide your smile. Your mom laughs, doing some sort of sign language and motioning for you to follow her with her head. That or it’s some sort of performative dance.

“I’m live right now,” You tell her, pointing at your screen. She knows this already, though, “do you want to say hi?”

The roaches spam the chat with friendly hellos. You mom, quite impatient now, waves you over.

“Sorry, roaches, mom needs something. Be back in a bit!”

Stopping the stream, you rush out of your seat and pleased she slinks into the hallway. “What’s this about?”

“Your pizza came.”

“My what now?” You echo, confused.

“Domino’s. You ordered pizza?”

“What? No? I was busy with the stream, I never--”

Thankfully, you had managed to grab your phone from your room before you exited. You almost choke on spit once you read the messages.

It’s a sad sight, chewing and crying; your mom winced when she saw your state - disheveled hair and rundown eyeliner and everything. “D’aww,” She had muttered, caressing the top of your head, “don’t cry my little raccoon.”

If anyone was ever to ask you where did your chaotic nature come from, you’d answer with my mom. To make yourself feel better, you took a selfie - duck face and peace sign and the horrible 2000′s angle. Sent it to Rae.

You couldn’t just leave things as they were. Once you calmed down, you wanted to text Corpse, but how would you follow up the ungodly caps lock and screeching? Impossible. An idea sprung to mind, one that was brave. Taking the first step.

You voice still sounded a bit raspy. His reply was instant. Your heart skipped a beat. He sent a voice memo back.

Din tries to follow Paz’s recipes from his YouTube, and it always turns out badly and you have to come in and save it

Din gets frustrated with social media and ends up just making an empty account so he can follow you and watch videos, but after the whole Pedro Pascal disaster he never posts anything

When Grogu goes around telling the kids at school he is the mandalorian he just sighs

And when all of the kids start quoting the show, he just starts quoting them back so they will stop bothering him

When Din announced the pregnancy Paz got so excited to have another nephew/niece

Paz lets Din hold the baby shower at the restaurant and he makes all of the food, including little gender reveal cake pops

Paz gifts the two of you a photo album at has pictures of the two of you and grogu, but it is still half empty so you can add more memories of your expanding family

Boba just hands Din house keys a day says the place is paid off and he's covering the bills for the first year (he also had a nice play set built in the backyard for Grogu)
