The cosmic irony of wondering if there is ever going to be a new anime for Code Geass only to find out about Lost Stories last week and Roze of the Recapture today.

#you'll have to forgive me: i haven't touched code geass since r2 ended #and it was one of the few anime i watched all the way through as it aired #somewhere along the way i forgot about the film continuity plus the akito spinoff #and i could've sworn i read somewhere it was getting a new anime project #idk if roze should be considered that since it's been in the works for three years #hmmm. maybe this is a franchise i should get back into again...

hi, okay, so, literally no one asked for this, but while I’m working on some actual art to post on here, I’m just gonna..... share this.... thing.

SO, a few months back, I got into a heated debate about who to cast as the one-and-only Lelouch in a live Code Geass adaptation & my fixation on this question got... a bit out of hand. the culmination of this was me spending hours trying to cast just nearly everyone for the entire series during a weeb manic fugue state.

now, you may be saying - emily, you’ve got some big budget actors here in pretty secondary roles! what are you thinking?? BUT this is all imagining that I personally were the showrunner & the casting director & that this was a world where budget was apparently no issue because I’d geass’d the donors into sharing their full life’s earnings, and, on top of all this, yes, we could in fact also afford to render all the mechs! don’t ask questions. It’s My Fancast & I Can Run the Studio Into Unsalvageable Debt If I Want To!

....&anyway, thought I’d share this for anyone who cares or had their own fan-castings in mind, or else just wanted to bear witness my madness.

(thing is, I put this together in spite of myself, being someone who 99% of the time does NOT care for live-action adaptations to perfectly good animations.... BUT, in a world where all the loving work of adapting was my own... well, I just had to know.)

If the characters from K had been gives a Geass instead, what would they be?

I’m somehow imagining this as being like normal K but instead of King powers everyone gets their own fancy geass. I mentioned in a previous ask the idea of Munakata having the ability to see people’s future movements, like he can see just a few moments into the future and uses that in conjunction with his own insight in order to always remain on top of everything. Most people think Munakata’s power is all in his geass but really it’s a combination of that and his own skill, often when people think Munakata is using his geass he isn’t at all. His geass is fairly well controlled but imagine his glasses are actually like some special type of glasses which help control his geass too (and also help him see because he’s blind).

Mikoto I imagine having one of those double-edged sword type geass powers where using it weakens him and the more he uses it the more likely it is to go out of control. Like imagine rather than having actual fire powers he has the type of geass that makes anyone he chooses see hallucinations of fire, like he can make someone think that they’re burning to death. The power is even strong enough to make the person feel the heat of the flames and if used long enough can cause like a heart attack from the stress. Mikoto can only use it so long himself though before his own body starts to feel on fire and afterward he can’t use it again for some time. It keeps threatening to spread out of control too, like first it’s in just one eye and then in both and his fear is one day he won’t be able to turn it off at all and everyone he looks at will become affected.

Kokujouji probably has some kind of mind-altering geass, I could see him with the whole rewrite memories geass which he’s used in order to keep the peace in Japan the way he feels best. Shiro would probably have an immortality type geass, like his soul can leap into the bodies of other people but it’s not something he actually intends — say Weismann jumps into Hieda’s body when it looks like he’s going to be killed by Colorless but it’s not something he wanted to do and he’s trying to get his body back so he can free the poor kid he’s possessed. Colorless instead of stealing bodies maybe he has the type where he can take on other people’s forms, rather than stealing that person’s body he just takes their place. He tries to kill Weismann precisely to impersonate him and doesn’t realize that Shiro’s jumped bodies in the meantime.
