Music In The Narutoverse
I think in Kirigakure, most music that can be heard originates from either the union of fishermen or monks, as many cultures have been. wiped out due to their ongoing political unrest. As for the fishermen, some popular instruments are steel drums, which can sound like this or like this. Gamelans are often played near the temples up high in the mountains, the wind carries their sound across the village. Radios aren't really used.
Iwagakure's traditional music is very percussion heavy, using various kinds of drums and gongs. They have fallen in love with the guzheng, aka the moon guitar. Another instrument originating from there is the erhu, which Kirigakure citizens also really enjoy listening to and consider a high class/fancy instrument. These are the kind of songs Iwagakure ninja can hear in their radio, Onoki's favorite is this one. High up in the mountains, sounds like these can be heard. These horns are used to communicate between different valleys.
As a stronghold of trade, Kumogakure's music has been shaped by many cultural influences. One of the more traditional instruments in Kumogakure is the cowbell/agogo bell. Kumo citizens enjoy music from all across the shinobi world, including songs in foreign languages. As a rather technologically advanced village, it is not uncommon to hear electric guitars and synthesizers be used in their music. Here are some songs I think could be heard on the Kumo radio. As for Killer Bee, here are some of his faves.
In Uzushiogakure, an instrument that could often be heard in traditional music is the anklung, as well as the t'rung. Music was often performed for the whole village, and everyone was invited.
As for many western instruments, those have originated in the Country Of Knights. This country was only mentioned in the movies, but for the sake of it, I will consider it canon as well. While their traditional music sounded somewhat like this, sounds like these here weren't uncommon as well. It was popularized by immigrants from the country of knights.
As stated before, Madara Uchiha was a skilled pianist, his sharingan allowed him to read sheet music while playing, here are some of the pieces he played. Madara often played this piece for his siblings to make them laugh.

I forgot Suigetsu's birthday, I won't forget yours, Kisame. Congrats to our shark boy. I did this with the idea to use pastel colors and a scarf I saw on Pinterest, but now I have another party idea, hope I can finish before March ends

There have been several attempts on Mei鈥檚 life; I think. Constantly stamping down resurrectionists and whatnot. She took down the caste-system, so I imagine it was many who previously benefited who wanted to see her dead.
Terumi Mei, the Godaime Mizukage is many things, merciful, kind, intelligent, deemed the strongest in her village. None of these traits apply to those who endanger her home, and her people.
There are rumors of how Mei handles traitors, and none of them are pleasant.

My Fave Naruto OC whose name is Tsubasa Emiya(First Name inspired by Tsubasa Ozora from Captain Tsubasa,Last Name inspired by Kiritsugu Emiya from Fate Series.) Is such a troll that he goes on a trip and as he finishes a task,he gains the ability to manipulate his genetics and body thus changing his appearance permanently as he has been insecure about his looks for a very long time.
When he returns back to Konoha,Kakashi freaks out and people mistook him for a spy and wanted to have Ibiki to interrogate him but Tsubasa refused to cooperate and with Sasuke's help, they altered everyone's memories. And that's after Tsubasa goes to his parents and they scold him for what he's done and Tsubasa is like "i don't mind it as long as i'm proud of myself. Deal with it."
Like imagine he was masked, black hair and black eyes with fair skin when he left and in matter of four days he comes back white haired, left eye being icy blue and right eye being emerald green, with pale skin. He give himself heterochromia on purpose to so he never thinks of himself as a perfect being when looking in a mirror.
Tsubasa still wears the traditional ninja mask like Kakashi, but he attracts so many girls after "shapeshifting". He hates being in center of attention and chooses to be a loner. Ino(ESFP girl who complements INTJ Tsubasa) found him to be interesting and befriended Tsubasa when he was a child. After his tranaformation,Ino teases up constantly and wants him to date girls, but he is too depressed for that and prioritizes his career as a ninja and writer, aims to achieve happiness for himself and not mess up a girl's life.

I know this novel is about Kakashi but the thing I'm most interested in is the little bit of worldbuilding we get about Kirigakure.
Spoilers for Kakashi Hiden under the cut:
(All of this is from pages 123 - 124 if you want to read it for yourself)
We've known pretty much from the very start of Naruto that there's been a pretty nasty class system in place in Kiri. We've also known that graduating from the Academy there involved killing your classmates.
But apparently, the only ones who had to kill each other were the ninjas from the lowest class. The lowest class ninjas were also the ones always assigned the most dangerous missions, regardless of skill. It was seen as a win-win situation - if the mission succeeds, great, if it doesn't, nothing of value was lost.
It also confirms that Zabuza (a lower class ninja) was a sweet kid before he was forced to kill his classmates.
I'm just...utterly fascinated. There's so much more I want to know. Are the other Mist characters we know - Mei, Chojuro, Ao - low born or high born, and did they have to participate in those lethal exams? What's been done to dismantle the class system, since Mei clearly expressed a desire to leave the ways of the Bloody Mist behind? Was Zabuza almost like a mirror of Kakashi - traumatized by what he was forced to do before letting it harden him?
Fuck man I just want a whole novel about Kiri ok.

Hii! I'm happy to hear you enjoy my ramblings about Kiri and my art!! Makes me feel like I'm not just screaming into the void.
cn: mentions of colorism, sexism and queerphobia
Gender Expectations in Kirigakure
Tumblr media
The role of women in Kirigakure
Generally speaking, it used to be rather uncommon for women to become kunoichi. One of the women who did was Ameyuri Ringo, who quickly became an idol to many young girls in her time. The idea of a woman swordsman was ridiculous - yet she fought her way up to the top. The shinobi affilitation was a very men-oriented field and those women who did became fully fledged shinobi were battle hardened and didn't take shit from anyone.
However, it was very common for women to be part of the workforce, since many citizens are on the poorer side, women from higher ranked families being the exception. The most common jobs taken on by women used to be rice and fruit farmers, seamstresses or business (co-)owners.
This has changed, however, once the fifth mizukage, Mei Terumi, rose to power. She encouraged young women and girls to fight for their dreams and become shinobi as well.
Women of the middle and higher classes are expected to take care of themselves, look pretty and be gracious, elegant and soft-spoken. Arranged marriages were nothing uncommon, often leaving the women with no choice in the matter.
Men's role in Kirigakure
Men are expected to be hard workers, providers for the family, but the image of the ideal man does differ from other cultures. Men in Kirigakure are rather comfortable in their femininity and it is not uncommon for men to wear makeup, do skincare and sleep with silken bonnets to take care of their hair. This often leads to Kiri men being seen as effeminate or flamboyant.
The exception to this are Kiri fishermen and sailors, who have adopted a more 'westernized' view of masculinity. Often foul mouthed and abrasive, they have formed their own subculture of 'new masculinity'.
Gender outside of woman and man
It is not uncommon for youngsters and teens in Kirigakure to reject the idea of being either a woman or a man, however it does lead to scrutiny and condemnation of Kirigakure's older population. People assigned female at birth are more often scruitinized than people assigned male at birth.
The beauty ideals in Kirigakure
Fair, pale skin Fair skin is seen as a sign of wealth and beauty in Kirigakure and a very desirable trait to many people. Skin bleaching creams are widely available and there are many problems with colorism in Kirigakure.
Long, luscious hair Another sign of wealth, long, open hair is seen as the beauty ideal because it means not having to work a tedious job where long hair would be seen as tedious.
Brown eyes In a country where people with kekkei genkai were frequently hunted down and killed, it is to be expected that anyone with a rare or unnatural eye color would automatically be seen as a freak, leading to brown eyes being the beauty ideal in Kirigakure.
A plump, well fed looking body This is pretty much self explanatory, as more plump bodies are seen as a sign of being well fed and able to afford leisure time.
That's all, folks!

This is Kaito Okomochi. He鈥檚 a former hidden mist ninja who works with Akanemai. He鈥檚 a non transforming Tatsu. Which means he can鈥檛 transform into a dragon form, but he has dragon strength. His father is from a clan of dragon slayers. I plan to tell more about his parents later. He is also looking for someone he cares for who has disappeared.
He was the fourth person to join Akanemai.

WAIT I JUST FUCKING REALIZED. HOW DID IT TAKE ME THIS LONG TO REALIZE-
is it. is it called the hidden sound village....because it's a bunch of tunnels. which leads to echoes.
like, the hidden leaf village makes sense, yeah, there's a lot of leafs in konoha.
hidden sand village? literally in the desert.
village hidden in mist? checks out. the village do be hiding in that mist.
kumogakure has an abundance of clouds, hence, the village hidden in clouds.
etc etc.
so, if otagakure is located within a tunnel system, the only real natural thing they would really be hidden in is.....sound.
