So maybe Bruce did some covers for a business magazine in his late teens or early 20’s and it went really well!!

a few luxury brands asked if this fresh-faced Bruce Wayne would consider being an ambassador. Maybe a brand of watches, suits, sunglasses, something business-like or old money

He agrees to work with some suit company cuz his dad loves the brand and he likes them too now

This earns him his first ever taste of A-List Celeb Status. He is on the cover of magazines, not just business and fashion: Gossip magazines. Tabloids. People recognize him and want his autograph. Paparazzi follow him to lunch dates with friends.

They want to know his favorite color, cereal brand, ice cream flavor, and not because they want to be billionaires like him (poor little nepo baby) but because they love him so much they want to know every little detail of his life.

He is given the title of heartthrob over and over again (and I mean look at him, ofc he is)

He despises it with every cell in his body.

BUT he keeps working for this one luxury tailor brand until his contract ends. Maybe two or three years?

He has a good relationship with them, still. Wears their suits mostly, recommends it to friends if they need a new one. But he’s decided it’s not for him anymore.

Now. Every year, during New York Fashion Week, Bruce is invited to walk in their show. (This brand gives all of their ambassadors the opportunity.) Sometimes, he says yes. Sometimes, he doesn’t.

He refuses for a few years (during his vengeance era) until Bruce Wayne changes and decides to make more appearances. NY Fashion Week comes around, and Bruce returns for one (1) show.

Bruce walks some new shows and agrees to pose for some magazines (fashion AND business, among others)

Vogue offers him the cover, which he accepts

They run out of stock.

(How is that even possible?)

Fancams of him walking down the street and attending press conferences crop up? That’s what surprises him the most.

He is still very camera shy but the more he gets to know the regular fansites, he feels more comfortable waving and talking to them. (And hopefully they don’t suspect a thing. PLEASE don’t suspect a thing.)

There are a lot of events where they’re not allowed in but if it’s a public event, they will be there

(There are some creepy ones tho, and Alfred handles them accordingly) (with a call to the police) (and occasionally a hose)

It’s fun tho, allows Brucie Wayne, Billionaire Nepo Baby Extraordinaire, to become separate from his nightly persona

Hyun-Su is such a lovely character to write and I'm so glad you're enjoying my take on him. on a tangentially related note, it's very funny to see so many fellow stays and other kpop stans following me since i've started writing for him, hadn't realized there was such a crossover between kpop and kdrama fans lol, though i guess i should have 😁

Anyway, I've written around 2k words for my next piece on him today, so here's a snippet featuring Hyun-Su's monster! Hope you enjoy it!

He shoots you a grin that makes you knees weak, and, as his blue eyes stare straight into yours, you finally understand what is going on.

You remember too well the state he was in last time you saw this— well— version of him, and your eyes run over his body, followed by your hands, checking for injuries. But while his sweater is in worst shape than usual, and you find blood that you think is fresh on there, his skin is intact under your fingers.

When you look into his eyes again, you find him staring at you, amused.

“You can keep going,” he teases. Your face starts burning and you take a step back, embarrassed, but he follows right after you, eyes devouring you. “Come on, you know you want to. Why not just give in?”

Your back hits the wall, and he leans closer, like a cat playing with a mouse. The difference is, though your heart is hammering in your chest, you don’t feel that scared. Nervous, sure, but there is no actual threat to his tone, or even to his attitude.

“I’m not— I’m not doing anything Hyun-Su wouldn’t want,” you answer, and you somehow find it in yourself to lift your chin defiantly as you do.

Meeting this version of Hyun-Su’s eyes sends a rush of heat through you once again. Beneath the amusement, there is so much more. Fascination. Adoration, even.

He lets out a brief laugh at your words.

“Please,” he practically purrs, “you can’t think that he doesn’t want this.” You stare at him, and his grin widens. “Maybe you should ask him, then.” He leans closer to you, mouth so close to your ear you can feel his breath tickling your cheek. “Ask him what he thinks about when he’s alone at night.” Your cheeks are on fire. “Ask him what he thinks about when you’re lying in bed next to him.” Your breath catches in your throat. “Ask him what he thinks of doing to you.”

He laughs again, and Lord, you don’t know how your legs haven’t given up underneath you yet.

“Come back to me if he still doesn’t have the guts to do anything,” he whispers in your ear. “For now, I think we’ll take a nap.”

That’s all the warning you get before he collapses into you and you can do nothing but slide down to the floor, holding Hyun-Su’s now unconscious body in your arms.

True but she didn't complain when she benefited from their focus on "short-term profits", getting playlisting that most BTS members and other hybe groups never got or when new jeans was being promoted at the expense of bts. And no shade but new jeans isn't a novelty to anyone aside of kpop, to everyone else they're just another kpop group who releases aesthetic music for social media posts, because that's literally the main reason their music is popular "aesthetics", Illit's song literally only went viral because the snippet was being used for picture edits. If a group from an unknown company had been the one to debut with that concept, no one would have cared and no one would claim they're some kind of pioneers. I feel like it's one thing that annoys me about new jeans stans and mhj, this claim that they debuted with something out of this world when no one would be saying all that if the debut had flopped. When it comes to concepts and other stuff, the only girl group I would consider a novelty is Loona.

Everyone gets copied, it's not the end of the world. And like everyone has said, name dropping those girls just like that is nasty work. I get that it's painful to see them become so successful through something you introduced to the company while it seems like those people who used to like new jeans are now gravitating towards illit, but they're children... They already got a shit ton of hate for being similar to new jeans and now she just mentioned them outta nowhere when it's pretty obvious that it wasn't even the reason for her actions and she's obviously been planning to go seperate right from new jeans' debut. BTS used to have all their concepts and roll outs plagiarized, and all they said was they don't care because they never do the same thing twice.

I talked about this before when I talked about illit and their similarities to new jeans, but I had so much hope that min heejin probably didn't care much because she was so "creative" that she could shake things up and introduce a new concept for the group, but I guess I gave her too much credit and she never had plans to do anything new with the group. Because that is the only reason why she would care about two groups having similar concepts. And other groups have copied new jeans, she only cares now because of how successful illit are. If they flopped she wouldn't be making a fuss over it.

Not to be that person but there's something about her that I just don't like, she seems shady and weird as fuck. So hopefully her and hybe both cancel each other out for my peace of mind.

If we go by the current roll out for new jeans comeback you can tell she's run out of "unique" ideas and just doing whatever to still keep that edge, so they should just bring in another talented creative director for the girls and all will be well. Everyone loves to act like she does something out of this world, but after studying her I think I could literally become a creative director and succeed at it.

Can you recommend like a fun, silly, summery drama? I'm looking for similar vibes as Cheer Up or Age of Youth (female friendships are a plus). It's hard to find something without melodrama.

And I definitely want to help you find something silly and easy to watch, especially as we enter the depths of winter! Some of these are a little less slice of life but still fun. Also I know you already watched/mentioned a couple of these but I'm adding them to the list for everyone else who might be game!

Light Hearted Fun K-dramas (little or no melo)

Soundtrack #1 (slice of life/romance) Best friends for almost 20 years, the two leads start having feelings for one another while working on a project. This drama only has a few episodes which is a shame because it's really cute! As a Park Hyung Sik Stan (sorry but Happiness broke me), he's great in this one and he hasn't lost all of his military weight yet which I LOVE :D

Fanletter Please! (slice of life/ romance) A sick child writes fan letters to her favorite star, an actress who for kdrama reasons is afraid of fan letters. This was a super sweet, short drama - I really liked it so much!

Into The Ring (workplace/romcom): The perfect slice-of-life rom com! Goo Se Ra has trouble holding down a job due to her passionate personality so after she loses her latest job working for the ML, she decides to run for a small government office position because it pays a salary. Literally she does it for the money which is just *chef’s kiss.* The show is about her dealing with local politics and it’s SO FUNNY and smart and the OTP is the best! 

King The Land (rom/com): A cold chaebol hotel owner meets his match (literally and figuratively) who is a top notch employee. There's a lot of push pull and the ML (MY BIAS!) Lee Junho's character falls hard and fast. It does have slow moments but if you literally want to watch a happy couple be happy (plus the skinship is chef's kiss and there is so much of it) you'll enjoy this one.

Melo Is My Nature (slice of life): This drama is by far my favorite slice-of-life drama of 2019. Found family, strong and complex characters, I laughed, I cried. Plus a gay character that’s an actual character, with the gay as a casual side note (classy k-drama!!) It was just a perfect show for me. There’s romance, but all of the stories are super interesting.

Top Management (slice of life) I know this show is mainly on Youtube Premium BUT I just got an email from Youtube basically saying “hey we know you never want to pay to watch our shows so we’re just going to let you ok?” so that’s something… Adorable mini drama about a girl who can see the future and becomes the rookie manager for a kpop band. Fun and easy.

Business Proposal (rom/com) Seriously this drama is almost the exact same plot as The Secret Life of My Secretary. It's really fun and cute (just like the latter) and if you like one, you'll like the other ;-)

True To Love / Bo Rah Deborah (rom/com) Bo Rah is a relationship expert publishing her book. She works with a man who is her total opposite making it a cute enemies to lovers. Yoo in Ah is literally so adorable I love watching her! (If I'm honest I can't remember a TON about this drama but I do remember it being an easy watch).

Her Private Life (romcom): Park Min Young really knows how to pick dramas. I loved this one about a museum curator who is secretly a fangirl obsessed with an idol. It’s fun and fluffy but does have a very mild childhood trauma thing with his mother but I mean, 99% of dramas like this do? If you like this one, Touch Your Heart and Why Secretary Kim are by the same person and have similar vibes.

Touch Your Heart (rom/com) A sweet, silly and very mild rom com about a serious boss and his hallyu star secretary. This show was an obvious response to the chemistry that Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na had in Goblin so it was nice to see them together again. Yoo In Na is such a fun person to watch!

Fight for My Way (slice of life/romcom): I love this drama! Always a fave for me, this drama is funny and heartwarming! The leading lady is a strong female which I LOVE, and Park Seo Joon plays her really cute down to earth best friend. It’s a childhood friends to lovers trope with a group of regular people (no rich heirs in this show!) and has a happy ending and a lot of cute flirting, cuddling and kissing. Argh I love these two!

Age of Youth 1 (slice of life): Age of Youth/ Hello My Twenties is one of the best k-dramas that centers around strong female friendships. A group of wildly different girls find themselves rooming together in an apartment. Lots of romance too, but the girl’s lives and friendships are the primary focus.

Shopping King Louie (romcom): Ridiculously fun and lighthearted romp following a spoiled and useless chaebol with amnesia who is being taken care of by a country bumpkin in the city. Very low stakes, super adorable couple, and as many tropes as you can fit in your bag, this one is one of my favorites to recommend.

Eulachacha Waikiki / Laughter In Waikiki (slice of life comedy, romance) I hope you’re ready for a crazy amount of unlikely situations and nutty hijinks because this show is probably one the most silly ones I’ve ever watched. It follows a group of friends who own a hostel so it’s a slice of life drama. At certain points I was like “this is TOO silly” but I’m glad I stuck with it cause it was so hilarious. Plus, the baby is a star!

Wok of Love (rom/com) Despite the fact that the show was shortened by two episodes because of sports, this drama is a funny and quirky show worth watching. Many people dropped it because it was SO crazy for the first couple of episodes (it has a talking horse people!), but it does settle into a really sweet and fun story about a chef, a gangster and a rich girl and her family. If you love food, this show is for YOU!

And finally, if you don't mind a bit of melo, I highly recommend Run On!

pairing! boyfriend!fernando x fem!reader.

warning—or not a warning, being a kpop stan and dating fernando will be a great time. it took him a bit to understand exactly how kpop works but once he understood? he began to love it just like you.

comeback days with your favorite group and fernando is a mix of a few things. excitement, jealousy, and happiness. yes fernando is going to become super jealous over your love for your bias.

“do you like him more than me? you’ve been staring at these new photos for way too long.”

“I can dance way better than that! have you seen my hips? I know for a fact that he can’t do that.”

although he gets “jealous” it’s all jokes and to poke fun at you which is his favorite thing to do. he’ll then want to learn the choreography and try to do it with you or he’ll do it to impress you obviously.

sometimes you think he’s most excited about the comeback days because he wants to see if he’ll like the song or not. he’ll even ask you to watch the teaser with him so he can hear what it’ll sound like.

fernando will take you out shopping for new albums or merchandise that you’ll definitely want. he’ll even buy a shirt or hoodie for himself with the group that you love on the front for support.

“what’s this new group? they haven’t debuted yet.”

“oh this member has to be your bias, I just have this feeling because he reminds me of myself.”

tries his best to stream the group you love so that they chart well even if that’s not necessarily a trend anymore to sit and stream. he’ll want to do it for you and their success. he knows you love that.

going to concerts with him will be different and by that I mean because he’s the tallest man there and he also is a famous baseball player. it doesn’t take long for a few people to recognize him at all.

fernando will be the loudest one there. yes, I’ve said it.. he will be louder than the fangirls themselves. he’ll aggressively swing the light stick back and forth and try to sing along with the lyrics.

“I don’t know the korean lines do you know them?”

he’ll start to mumble the korean lines and look around because he doesn’t want to look stupid or embarrass himself and you so he just cheers for the group on stage and claps for them. then maybe sing along to the few english lines that he knows.

fernando will follow or subscribe for all the new news about the idols and groups. if he sees anything quite shocking he’ll immediately text, call, or run to you and tell you about what he just read.

if you have a polaroid of your bias behind your phone.. fernando will recreate that same picture but of himself and make it a polaroid so you then have your bias and your boyfriend fernando.

he’ll become quite obsessed with collecting photo cards and when he travels for baseball games he’ll try his best to find kpop stores around the area to collect more albums for the cards inside of them.

“baby did you know that _______ group has keychains? oh! and I found stickers for you too.”

“I just found stickers of my favorite girl group. I’m going to use those while you use the others.”

fernando will watch episodes that your favorite group puts out with you. even if he’s not the best at reading the subtitles he’ll follow along and laugh when you do or he thinks a part is super funny.

he’ll then become a bit obsessed and ask you when the next episode will come out or ask if you both can watch old episodes he has never seen.

fernando being fernando he’ll make sure you get the tickets for high touch and he’ll come along with you. even saying he can’t believe he was able to give the group members a high five like that.

Then you heard glass break downstairs. 

You immediately jolted, thinking nothing of it.  Your brain was definitely playing tricks on you. 

Until you heard footsteps.

You sprung into action, scribbling at Minho’s neck to shift him into his kitten form before shoving him into the pocket of your coat. 

You woke up Chan and Jisung, and hid them both in your closet, terrified for their safety. 

You decided to head down. Giving Minho to Chan, and telling them to keep quiet, you grabbed your trusty baseball bat, and descended into the darkness of your apartment. 

You walked slowly down the steps, trying not to make a noise, wincing every time the stairs creaked. 

When you heard a footstep behind you, you blindly swung your bat around. 

Your bat was caught and thrown out of the way, and a hand slammed over your mouth.

You started struggling and thrashing as much as possible, trying to make it harder for the perpetrator(s) to cart you off. 

You jammed your elbow backwards, determined to hurt whoever had broken into your apartment. 

The person released you, and you immediately twisted around just to be met with a pair of antennas. 

Oh. 

Jisung rushed down to see the commotion, and you held him back protectively. 

Chris tilted his head. “Chan! Stay back.” You tell him. 

“Felix?” Chan grasped at the boy’s arm. ‘Felix’ groaned in pain, pressing against his chest where you had elbowed him. 

“That…was a nice hit.” Felix gasped as he recovered from the impact. 

“Thanks.” You frowned. 

“FELIX!” Jisung shouted, running over and latching onto the boy, who grunted. 

“Hi Hannie!” Felix exclaimed, hugging the quokka back with equal intensity. 

“This is our…friend.” Minho gave you a sweet smile, and you could tell your face was beaming. 

“Jisung, a human…” Felix pointed weakly at you, clearly scared. His antennas were trembling. 

You immediately reached out to pet one, and Felix kinda relaxed into your touch, but he still looked worried. 

“We can trust this one, don’t worry.” Chan explained. 

“Okay! I trust them now. What’s ur favorite kind of brownie? And do you stan TWICE?” Felix asked, spitting out questions a mile a minute. 

“Uh-I like fudge, and yes, i do stan them?” You stuttered through your sentence, startled. 

“You are now one of my best friends.” Felix declared, giving you a big hug. 

“Oh, ok! What’s your power?” You ask. 

“Oh, i’m a day younger than Jisung, I don’t have one yet.” Felix admitted, giggling when you stared in surprise. 

“Can we tickle him now?” Jisung whispered in your ear. 

“Do you even know if he’s ticklish?” You whisper back. 

“We’re only ticklish on this planet. I’ve never been this sensitive back on WASP-104b.”(search it up 😉) He responds. 

“That’s the name of your planet?!” You whisper-yelled to him. 

“Ugh, we’re working on it! Aliens are very busy, you know?!” Jisung rolled his eyes sassily. 

“Whatever. You’re only ticklish here?! That’s so sad!” You whispered in his ear. 

“What are you two talking about?” Chan asked, crossing his arms. 

“Nothing.” You both respond in unison. 

“Mhm.” Chan was not convinced. 

Whatever. Let’s just say Jisung decided to find out whether his sunshine twin was ticklish or not, by poking a singular finger into his armpit from behind. 

Felix immediately jerked with a giggle and pried his friend’s hand out of his underarm, face turning red in embarrassment. 

“Aweee! You’re ticklish! Yes!” Hannie cheered, sending more random pokes at Felix’s body and pinning him to the floor. 

“What does thahat mean?!” Felix shrieked with laughter as Jisung dug his fingers roughly into the boy’s waist. 

“WHAHAHAT’S GOIHOHOING OHOHOHON!” Felix screeched when Minho grinned and grabbed at his thighs, leaving him kicking and thrashing as he tried to overtake the feelings. 

When Minho’s fingers found his sole, Felix flopped around in ticklish agony, cackling his head off and his antennas were flinging around. 

“NOHOHOHO! AHAHAHAHA WHAT!” Felix was incredibly confused as to the source of his boisterous laughter. 

“We’re tickling you! It’s super cute, isn’t it?” Jisung teased innocently, still digging into the lee’s highly sensitive ribs. 

“AHAHAHAHA!” Felix giggled and squealed through his laughter, he clearly couldn’t handle much, and you pulled Jisung off before the two managed to kill the boy. 

As per the drill, you rubbed at their antennas, got to know Felix, and falling asleep together. 

You just hoped that that happiness would last.

It's fine if you want to complain. Anyone who thinks other members' songs should be sent to radio is free to say so, tag HYBE, email BigHit, etc. You disagree with how BigHit/HYBE America is promoting the first full English album from a BTS member relative to the other solo debuts. Sure, that's valid.

All that talk about ethics and whatnot sounds insane to me though. There's no use saying it at this point but Anon, you've become completely sucked in, you've picked up the Frankenstein language of the overinvested stan transferring their aggression to Jungkook.

Getting songs sent to radio doesn't make one an 'industry plant', talk less the biggest one, and much less for a guy who could sell out stadiums if he announced a tour today. It would be great to hear Closer or Hectic by RM on radio, same with Amygdala or Polar Night; Future, Alone, and For Us would be great additions too. Heck, Coldplay literally wrote The Astronaut and it sounds like a radio hit so it should've gotten a good push as well. But they didn't and of course it's okay to feel upset and communicate that to the company. But I also love that Jungkook is getting this push, and with a full English album, the first run by HYBE America (by all appearances), I think songs sent to radio is what to expect. Nobody from BTS will likely ever get full Western validation, and Jungkook's back-to-back hits of mid songs certainly aren't helping all that much, but it's true Jungkook is doing well, making more fans and leaving his mark. Just as the other members have done and will continue to do with even stronger impact. None of them are stupid and they are aware of their situations. I trust them to handle their business.

What ticks you off is that you feel you'll have to stream more, buy more, put more effort in than JJKs to get the same results. You're pissed off more for yourself than you are about Jimin. Which is fine. But Jimin is fine too lol. The way y'all talk about that man makes me wonder if you actually know him, or if when we talk about Jimin, we're talking about the same person.

What Jimin wants, he ultimately gets. When he really wants something he makes sure he gets it, in the way that works best for him. I've seen him win, get his way, make his way in moments, weeks, months, and years. His documentary is literally around the corner that will confirm yet again, that this is the sort of person he is. I'm not trying to be clever or make excuses, in my mind this is really what I think. It's fine if you disagree but don't send me asks like this chuck full of your frustration. I really don't relate.

People will come at me like usual but that's how things are, I guess. My thoughts may change later but right now this is what my brain feels:

You acknowledge that what pjms initially said is nothing compared to what the kths and jjks said yesterday (and always). Ok.

I follow your posts for a while now. They really making my day! Want to thank you for that first.

So I just wanted to add some thoughts to the subbing discussion here. Thanks to you I just started another Love by Change re-watch. As you mentioned in another post the Youtube and Viki subs in Englisch are quite good here. (For YT JayBL‘s english subs are just amazing just adoring the subber until now.)

But I just realised again how great the german ones are! The subbing group not only explained the usage of P‘, khrab and sawadee . They also managed to convey the more informal/partly rude way of talking by Ae and the more formal way by Pete. That‘s so astonishing! That‘s also why LBC is one of the rare cases of BL I watch with german subs. (Well besides there aren‘t so many BL‘s with Ger sub for now. But Viki is on it.)

Actually the ger and eng LBC subs on YT inspired me to provide ger subs myself for Gameboys and partly UWMA. It wasn‘t an easy task, but so fulfilling. It made me quite sensible for subs now. The ones on Netflix for example are my personal nightmare. It seems to me the translators there are generalising a lot.

I was thinking, if with the existence of fan-made subs, so people who care to explain linguistics (like honorific’s, idioms, pronouns, etc.) in that specific cultural background and even keep them in the translation, a new group of bl consumers are growing up now, accepting the mixture of language or even create in the bl-fandom bubble a new transnational language? (Sorry the german in me got the better part of me here on sentence length‘s…)

I love this! And yes it does feel like it’s happening. 

I makes me think about adoption of the term tsundere into the lexicon around anime in the 80s and 90s and now geeky fandom, or kishotenketsu among the literary sets. 

There’s a lot of niche fandoms that adopt terms, and those terms become global lexicon. 

It happens in academia and in concentrated work environments as well. You get to the point of specialization where you can have whole conversations with someone, using entirely technical terminology (think about programming languages, for example) as a lingo localized to a subject matter (rather than region). I’ve had these conversations with colleagues who don’t speak English. Like the verbs are different, but the terms are global. This can happen at conference or a convention or amongst staff on a movie set, or in a post production room. The way sound tech people talk to each other is like... whoah, what did you just say?!? 

I can get this way around BL tropes where I just throw a term out there (like pratfall kiss, or there’s only one bed) and I just assume everyone here knows what the hell I’m talking about. 

I’m sure the linguists have a technical term for this kind of language, like a combination of auxlang + jargon, but I don’t know it. 

It makes me think a lot about the IRL evolution of Wittgenstein's private language, and how his (argued) innate unintelligible nature is counteracted by the moment of adoption into a small group. But that an outsider unfamiliar with the source subject matter would still hear it as primarily gobbledygook. (One of my minors is in epistemology.) 

I think an even bigger version of the specific aspect you’re zeroing in on, is already happening around Korean via Hallyu (especially Kpop & Kdramas). And not just phrases like “stan” and “bias” and “bias wrecker” or sasaeng, hyung, and maknae, but whole linguistic concepts that run adjacent to these ideas around social structure and fandom.  

I'm finding, just in normal every day conversation with native English speakers (yes, this is the kind of thing I talk about regularly in my workspace) that I have to explain what a "linguistic register" means less and less these days, particularly to those younger than me. 

It's kinda awesome. 

I suspect Hallyu is partly behind this, but also the general nature of growing up with globalization and the internet age. (Not to mention my own propensity to gravitate towards geeky types who are fans of more niche aspects of a greater fandom, and thus are, by their nature, increasingly global in an effort to connect with those few others who share their obsession.)  

Here’s an example of a jargon rich sentence:

I don’t really stan a tsundere uke who's the maknae of the found family group, I like it when they flip the power play of the age dynamics or make him more of a sunshine cinnamon roll, although I forgive everything for Taiwanese chemistry and an “only one bed” trope. 

Now you can tell me whether you understood it or if I cross hatched too many of my fandom jargons at once.

I’m curious what draws you/keeps you following shinee?

i just love them! i have for a long time. i've been listening to their extremely diverse and high quality discography since 2010. their music is the main thing, their songs and performances are genuinely very very very good. they are very talented and their tracks are truly some of the best of kpop, just very good across several genres and styles. there's a shinee track for every person, every emotion, every situation. it's comfort music and daily music for me and their discog is so big it never gets boring. including their japanese discog they have at least 150 songs and with their solo careers its probably like 300, i have yet to listen to every shinee song after 3 years of stanning and i will maybe never run out.

i'm a p recent fan of the rest of their content (variety content, their musicals and acting jobs, livestreams, etc). i started officially stanning (or deokjil in korean) in 2020 when i was miserable because of lockdown and it improved my life and my korean skills a lot. they have over a decade of work that i could find and enjoy and that's just nice to have. i like them because they're funny and good at their jobs and i admire them as artists and public figures. i admire how they relate to their work and their audience, and how they handled their very visible grieving after jonghyun's passing and continue his legacy in their work. watching them grow and mature as people and artists and never lose their original charm, sweetness, and drive is really inspiring to me as someone who wants to be an artist as well. i'm interested in their art, i'm rooting for their careers, and being their fan makes me happy.

i can’t stop thinking about wonyoung being brought up in the age discussion still, not because her debut at 14 being weird isn’t valid but because she’s literally 19 now. the fact that one can say ‘it’s weird that you guys stan xyz who is 13’ and someone immediately claps back with ‘well what about wonyoung!!!’ is concerning because she’s become the fall guy for every single argument kpoppies have with each other. too young, too cringe, too untalented, too this, too that. she debuted too young at 14, yes. so did other idols that nobody is mentioning obsessively or rallying mass-hate against. someone making a gifset of 19yo wonyoung will never be the same as a 30 year old running an entire blog dedicated to the n//ewjeans maknae, who i believe is 14/15. i don’t know what it is about wonyoung that gets people so worked up. her debut at 14 is vile but she’s not to blame for that — she was a kid who wanted to debut like many others, her debut was presumably paid for, like the rest of the girls in the group, but the public happened to adore her regardless. her being 19 now is basically average maknae age so it’s not actually that concerning that she’s active in kpop. i know she can sing because i’ve heard her sing live, not just drawn my one-off conclusions from seeing her lip syncing while sitting down one time. she’s not ugly and she’s not cringe, but if she was, that would be my analysis as someone in his mid-20s and her demographic is 15-20yo girls. wonyoung is probably one of the few kpop girls people should leave alone and not worry about on any capacity but people find a way to bring her up in every situation regardless of her relevancy. i feel so bad for her, i really want her to find peace and be surrounded by people who love and appreciate her; i don’t think it’s normal at her small age to hear that people love you one time and break down into tears so clearly she’s really affected by everything but people are consistently so awful to her. every year or few years there is a tragedy we can’t come back from in kpop and every year people campaign for less hate towards idols and yet it just gets worse and worse. it’s sad.
