as the shortest player in the Generation of Miracles, or even basketball in general, he definitely understands the struggle of being underestimated at first glance… well, until they suffered an ankle breaker on the courts

that being said, he’s slightly more protective over you (or at the very least, keeps an eye on you) because he knows how some people can be nasty or judgmental, or maybe they’d take their comments too far about your height

why do I feel like he has the subtle vibe of “only I can tease you and no one else can?” it’s VERY subtle though, he’s exceptional at keeping that sentiment to himself

how much he teases you depends on how well and how much you can take teasing… are you sensitive? equally teasing? pouty mad? he observes to see where his boundaries with you are at // however, it’s important to note that his teasing is either mixed with such gentleness, amusement, and/or genuine concern

if you’re sensitive and soft: expect lots of fond teasing and gentle muses… like every time he’d kiss your forehead, temple, nose, cheek, WHEREVER he chooses to peck, he’ll slightly exaggerate his movement of bending down by the knees or dip his head to your level while giving that… all-knowing glint in his eyes and a slight curve of his lip

Naruto~

Oh, this boy… he’s too oblivious sometimes he doesn’t even know to be jealous. He was at a hot spring with friends once and someone says, “(Y/N) is so hot…” Naruto just grinned and said, “Yeah, she really is.”

But that doesn’t mean he won’t protect your honor. If someone says something a little too… risque like ‘Yeah, I’d tap that’ for example, get ready for more Narutos than you can count all charging you with a Rasengan.

He will not stand other guys cozying up to you. He’s the one who should be blessed with your hugs and cuddles. Won’t hesitate to cause a scene and yell to the entire world that he loves you and won’t let any other guy make a pass at you.

“Naruto, you didn’t need to go that far! You blasted him through three walls!” He’s endearing, really.

Sasuke~

Is jealousy an Uchiha thing or just a Sasuke thing? One of life’s many mysteries. Anywho, unlike Naruto, the second your name is brought up in conversation, he goes on guard and he’s listening closely.

If anything is said that he deems inappropriate, whether it be disparaging or otherwise, Sasuke had better be held back or he just might punch you into next week.

“Sasuke, calm down! He just said I had good taste in clothes!”

Even though he can easily get jealous, he knows the importance of freedom and he trusts you. He won’t come guns blazing (or sword slashing rather) and drag you away unless you need it of course.

The last thing he wants is for you to feel like you’re dating your dad or something. He’s very blunt and if he becomes uneasy with the way another male is talking to you, he’ll let said male know. Maybe after scowling with his Sharingan activated, however.

Neji~

Neji doesn’t really get jealous per se, more like offended on your behalf. Because of his upbringing, which taught him manners and the utmost respect, he really can’t understand talking about girls like they’re objects? Will never refer to a woman as ‘hot’ or anything like that.

If someone even dares speak of you like that, (even if you’re not necessarily together yet) he will fight them, and they will experience the 64 palms technique.

He especially hates people in your personal space. He really does trust you, just not others. Is not afraid to embarrass someone on your behalf. Half the time his glare is enough to scare them off, but some people are just clueless. (They wake up in the hospital)

“Neji! You can’t just throw me over your shoulder and leave! And that guy looked like he had seen a ghost?!” Needless to say, even cool, calm, and collected Neji has his limits.

Shikamaru~

Shika is too laid back to get jealous over little things. Somewhat like Neji, he doesn’t get jealous. He might feel threatened on your behalf, but never jealous. He can trust you with his life why shouldn’t he trust you with your relationship?

However, if someone is clearly harassing you or just generally making you uncomfortable, he will not hesitate to step in and make them leave. He won’t resort to physical violence (too much work), but he will intimidate them or put his genius to use and play some kind of trick on them.

He honestly has endless patience and at the same time no patience? Patience with you if you’re having a pleasant conversation with someone, but will go from 0-100 (or 50, really, anything more is a lot of effort) real quick.

“Shika, that guy thought he was really paralyzed, thanks to your shadow possession!” Being jealous is a waste of time, but clever revenge is always a treat for Shika.

Kiba~

So. Jealous. So. Easily. Kiba is naturally animalistic (in the best way) and just like a dog, can be very possessive. If explicitly asked, he will try to tone down his jealous fits, but will still be protective. If he does have free reign, however, oh boy…

No chill at all, whatsoever. Whether it’s absolutely destroying the object of his rage or just simply making out with you right there. No matter how annoyed he may get, he respects you with every fiber of his being and would never tell you to change or try to control you. He wouldn’t ever embarrass you (unless Kiba and Akamaru pummeling a room full of guys is embarrassing).

Just let him FIND OUT someone is making you feel the slightest bit of unease. One second, they’re chatting you up and then BAM! There’s a flash of white and a huge dog ready to maul them.

“Kiba, what do you mean they all looked at me for too long?! We walked in the door, of course, they turned to look!”

Gaara~

Gaara is a bit of a conundrum, but in a way that makes sense? Like, he doesn’t feel the need to get jealous of guys because when you leave, he’s going to be kissing you goodnight, and he’s the one who gets to spoil you.

However, he will get jealous of little things. Oh, you’ve spent a good amount of time playing with an animal/pet? Be prepared to walk in on Gaara giving them a stern lecture on stealing you from them. Gaara knows he has any potential suitors beat, but tiny adorable animals and children? In his mind, he can never be too cautious.

He gets a little pouty but that can easily be cured with cuddles, sometimes with that evil little pet that stole your affections from him. He can never stay jealous for long, he views it as an unproductive waste of time. He could be actively trying to get your attention, but instead, he’s going to be sulking in a corner? Yeah, no.

“Gaara! Stop scolding my cat, that’s not doing anything!”

Sai~

On the rare occasion that this cinnamon roll gets jealous, he’s confused and shocked. Like just imagine the surprised Pikachu face and that’s him. He knows what jealousy is, he can identify it just fine, but he doesn’t know why he’s jealous.

You aren’t doing anything, all you did was laugh at someone else’s jokes, but still… do you find them funnier than him? Are you going to leave him because he’s not that funny?! Cue the slow onset into insanity… Poor Sai is losing his mind to paranoia and made-up scenarios.

Will most certainly drag you away (gently) from whoever is taking your attention and leave. He doesn’t even bother with a fake smile, they don’t deserve it. He’ll explain to you calmly even though he’s panicking on the inside. Once he is back to normal he’ll show you his nearest artwork.

“What the-! Sai, you can’t just draw caricatures on people’s car!” You don’t even want to know how he figures out which car is theirs...

Kakashi~

Too cocky to be jealous. He has the right to be though because one glance at him without his face mask can cause instant pregnancy. Anywho, he knows you love him and some guy trying to hit on you like some high school douche isn’t going to change that.

He does like to intervene, however, just to flex like ‘yeah, I’m the boyfriend, now get lost’.

He’s not big on PDA, so he won’t start kissing you to ward off strangers, but he will wrap on arm around you or hold your hand and ask who your ‘friend’ is.

When there’s that one stubborn person who won’t take a hint, Kakashi doesn’t mind rocking someone’s world or getting kicked out, he needed to perfect that one offense technique anyways. He’s pretty laid back though, so it has to be somewhat drastic for this though, plus he knows you can handle yourself.

“A thousand years of death?! Isn’t it weird to be poking old men in the butt?!

Pein~

Pfft. Who does he have to be jealous of? He’s a god among mortals, after all. To him, you’re a goddess and as such you belong with someone like him, not the peasants around you.

But on the offhand chance that someone doesn’t heed his godly status, he will not hesitate to pull you into his side and yell ‘Almighty Push’ and totally obliterate that loser. (A/N: Holy crap I think that needs to be a one-shot cuz, wow, Pein being all protective is making me swoon?)

If it’s not a big deal, he’ll easily let you take care of it. If you’re strong enough to catch Pein’s attention, you’re more than strong enough to deal with some lowlife. That doesn’t mean, however, that they won’t feel his wrath too.

If you ever want to witness a true royal rumble, dare someone to mess with Pein’s S/O. It’d be an epic tag team match (slaughter, really) for the ages. One would d be surprised how quick he can lose his cool when it comes to you.

“Pein, that’s the fifth time this month! Kakuzu is going to murder me if I ask for money to fix this wall!”

Deidara~

Need I even say it? Jealous boy all the way. You’re his favorite masterpiece so why should let an uncultured swine who doesn’t even understand your worth touch you? Rhetorical question, he wouldn’t.

He is not above fighting or placing a bomb on someone who gives you one too many glances. He’d make sure they knew it wasn’t art, they weren’t good enough for that, before blowing the offender up.

No one and he means no one gets to talk bad about his S/O. If someone insults you in his presence they might as well as swallowed one of his explosives and trusted him not to blow them up.

Will one 100% hide you from view if you look too appealing. He thinks you look ravishing, but he’s the only one who should be able to think that, in his opinion. Don’t worry, no one’s ever gotten close enough to harass you with Dei around. His one-eyed scowl is a great deterrent.

“Deidara! You blew up my favorite restaurant! He didn’t even say anything to me!”

Sasori~

Would rather die before admitting he was jealous. As adamant about not being jealous as he is about art being eternal. That’s not to say that he won’t take action though. He will use chakra strings to make the perpetrator walk away, meanwhile making them bump into literally everything in the general vicinity.

The two of you don’t leave the base all that often so it’s unusual to see an envious Sasori action, but it’s a real treat when it happens. After he deals with whatever idiot crossed him, he’ll be a bit more affectionate that day/night.

Not huge things, but instead of working on puppets all night, he’d be more apt to hold you that night. Average people hitting on you make him insecure because he realizes he’s not that great at normal relationships but he still doesn’t want to lose you. That feeds into his jealousy and he figures the only way to get rid of it is to make sure those other guys can’t offer anything he doesn’t have.

“Sasori! If you wanted a hug, you could’ve said that instead of treating that guy like a ball inside of a pinball machine!”

@like-redhead-probably I sat thinking about this ask for a long time, because while I IMMEDIATELY thought of one for Elsa, Anna’s absolutely eluded me. And I know you were probably looking for a story, but I am unable to stop myself from first EXPLAINING my choices xD

I was already thinking about the myth of the Hulder (or huldra if we’re speaking of the creature in general instead of the specific Norwegian myth) for other story-related reasons, and as I did more research, I felt like the Hulder REALLY shared similarities with Elsa.

Generally speaking the huldra is a Scandinavian myth of a pale skinned, blonde or brown haired, attractive young woman who lives in the wilderness, often luring men away with song or dance to be killed or misled, stuck wandering forever. Sometimes she’s connected strongly to water, and instead of making men lost, she drowns them. Sometimes she is described as similar to an elf or fey-like creature, with characteristics related to other Huldufolk (we’ll get to them later) such as living in a parallel world, or a world Underground, and therefore preferring caves or appearing and disappearing suddenly. Sometimes she is depicted as having a hollow back, or a cow’s tail, which she hides out of embarrassment or to conceal her true identity. Which… how cute is that?

Before the 11th century, the myths were focussed more around the Huldufolk, which literally means “Hidden Folk”. There are lots of stories as to why and how the Huldufolk came to exist, but for the purpose of Elsa I think it most appropriate to look at the Christianization of the myths. Why?:

Frozen and Frozen 2 are modern movies made by an American company and Christianity is nigh untanglable with American culture, they take place in ~1840s Norway, F1 has a dedicated place of Christian congregation depicted in said movie, an official royal crowning overseen by a Christian faith leader, and the adaptation of Frozen generally comes from author Hans Christian Anderson and therefore should take his life and society into account, etc.

The Christianized myth says that one day Eve was washing her children (presumably after Cain, Abel, and Seth) in the river, when she heard God approaching. Ashamed that He would see her kids unclean, she hid the half she wasn’t done bathing, and when God asked, “Where are the other children?” Eve claimed that she had all of them present, indicating the clean ones. This gave God pause, but in the end He said, “Then let all that is Hidden, remain Hidden.” The children that Eve lied about became the Huldufolk, unable to live among humans. These people would eventually become characterized as dwarves, elves, fairies, etc., as time and interpretations rolled on, the huldra being just one of many mythical “species”.

So. Who is Elsa? She’s a:

fictional, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned young woman who led thousands of men wlw to wander helplessly into the dark caves and wildlands of social media with a power ballad and a jaw-dropping transformation sequence

Okay I’m joking… mostly…

In fact my interest in choosing the Hulder for Elsa lies purely outside of any romantic or sexual appeal, especially since Elsa as a character exhibits next to 0 romantic or sexual interest across two whole movies and an additional two shorts. Indeed, there’s a reason people headcanon her as either asexual, aromantic, or both! No, the reasons I chose the Hulder are:

Elsa’s name

Her upbringing

Her duty as queen, and

Her general behavior, specifically in regards to Frozen 1, as Frozen 2 Elsa is, at times, an almost completely different character

Elsa’s name was chosen very specifically by the filmmakers because it means “God is my Oath”. Oaths are binding, heavy, and invoke the maker’s or subject’s actions and personhood in the future. In Elsa’s case specifically, it invokes divine witness: perfect for a queen, someone born to rule. A promise to be fair, to uphold, to protect, to lead, to be a dignified and honorable face for the country. And Elsa was so ready to be that… except for the powers of course. Or at least, when they became something other than a magical gift of wonder and joy. When they became dangerous. Then there comes another oath, spoken to powerful creatures of magic, the Trolls, and born from parental fear: “She can learn to control it.”

Binding, heavy, invoking of Elsa’s future. As she grows, Elsa becomes closed off, quiet, hiding in her own home. She still takes her duties seriously, but now that she has been Other’d, taught to hide herself and her curse, she is just as much shadow as person. To young Anna, Elsa must have been almost ghostlike, disappearing right when Anna thought she’d cornered her, only to reappear sometime later down the hall, out of arm’s reach.

God promised Adam and Eve that their children would inherit the earth, even after leaving the Garden of Eden. Then suddenly that changed, due to Eve’s fear and shame of her unwashed children, and some would now inherit Underground, or somewhere else entirely. The lost children of Eve had become Other’d, needing to hide, disappear, and resort to inhuman tactics just to exist. Maybe they’re jealous, maybe they're just tricksters. But it’s not their fault. And it wasn’t Elsa’s either. Another reason they are similar.

Now, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Hulder, or for Elsa. While the Hulder is generally known for her more chaotic and negative attributes - just like our favorite snow queen, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. There are a few myths that say burning a charcoal fire -instead of a coal or gas one- is most pleasing to the Hulder, that she’ll even watch over it during the night, and wake the sleepers in case something happens. If a traveler leaves supplies behind with a note or offering for the Hulder, they will travel safely. In fact, some people leave caches for her, as though to cater to specific requests. Coming across the Hulder by chance can have a multitude of outcomes, but if an astute observer spots her cow tail and mentions it, she may become shy and run away. Don’t mention the empty back though, that’s almost certain death.

Basically my point is… trade out the word “traveler” for the name “Anna” and we can draw all the similarities we want. Anna did all of those things, in a way. Anna gave Elsa a little gift of their favorite snowman every Christmas. Anna knocked on Elsa’s door and spoke to her, treated her kindly despite the distance between them, literal and metaphorical. It’s not hard to imagine that Anna left little notes around the castle, hoping Elsa would find them, read them, and know that Anna still loved her, still missed her. And, well, hopefully Anna wasn’t setting any fires and falling asleep next to them - but Anna always kept a light on for Elsa, in her heart. And it flickered and wavered sometimes, but it was a strong fire most days. And we know Elsa was always drawn to it, drawn to Anna because she loved her right back. Loved her first, even. And because it was a warmth that pleased Elsa, she tended it, quietly, carefully, warmly. Like putting a blanket over an Anna that had fallen asleep in the painting room, refusing that slice of chocolate cake so Anna could have two desserts, and listening, for hours and hours, days and days, for the sound of Anna’s glorious bonfire-like soul outside her bedroom door. Even when her secret was revealed, Elsa believed that the best way to protect Anna’s life, her flame, was to distance herself, running to a secret, special place all her own - much like the Hulder might run away back to the Underground.

And this last part’s just me, but I’d like to think that if the Hulder was treated kindly, respected, and given dignity, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if someone came across her accidentally. That instead of being instantly drowned, or the Hulder becoming sheepish and attempting to run, it would feel recognized. It could be called by name. And instead of feeling the need to hide it’s Otherness, it could be treated as part of it, and cared for just the same. I don’t even need to be subtle here: Anna called Elsa by Name, really saw her, and reframed her darkness into light. Anna hasn’t fought God yet, but she did walk through hell and back for a sister that everyone else saw as a threat, monster, and sorcerer. A category 9 Other. Too bad for them, Anna’s got a Category 10 heart.

Speaking of. We finally got to Anna.

Anna was difficult to pin down because to me, Anna is so very, very human. That’s what makes her special! Yes, yes, you could throw any mythical creature at Anna and the fun part would be trying to make it work within her personality and characterization BUT since the question was Anna AS a mythical creature, that changes the game! The word ‘creature’ itself tends to conjure something distinctly INhuman. So I…. tried, and cheated maybe a little. Because I picked for Anna the Norse Valkyrie.

Most people know what Valkyries are so this one takes significantly less explaining. Valkyries are women that are warriors, shieldmaidens, and the hands of Odin, and they choose who lives and who dies during battle. Their chosen dead ride with them to Valhalla, while those they choose to live are usually granted honors in life. There are the darker sides of Valkyries that paint them as blood hungry maidens waiting on the sidelines before a war, singing the names of who will die with glee… but generally speaking the version of Valkyries that most people know and admire today are accurate! And thank goodness because attempting to depict Anna the other way would probably give me an ulcer.

Anna, much like the Valkyries, is a woman of valor and strength, who is perceptive, guides others, sees into people’s hearts and reveals their goodness. Valkyries are also warriors of prowess themselves, and Anna in Frozen 2 with that ice sword? We all know she was ready to use that for real. She also exemplifies traits that Valkyries both look for and have! Bravery in the face of danger: hello Marshmallow, Elsa’s own blizzard, Hans’ lethal sword strike, LIVING MOUNTAINS, and a damn collapsing.... dam. She also defends those who cannot do it themselves: saying publicly that, “My sister is not a monster… she was scared, she didn’t mean any of this,” even if that cast suspicion or doubt on herself, and the crown, as a whole. Anna knew and believed in Elsa, despite all the years and heartbreak and anger. Despite the impossible magic that literally just happened before her very eyes. Belief in character, despite appearances. And once they were reunited, Anna made every effort to stay by Elsa’s side because she STILL had that faith in her. Anna’s name means “Grace” or “of Grace”, and damn if she didn’t extend that to the person others found most unworthy, even to Elsa herself. Valkyries see what others don’t, and their decisions are final.

[Deep breath] SO! You asked for Anna and Elsa as mythical creatures. You got… a small academic paper, by social media standards xD. I intend to write a little piece about a Valkyrie who encounters the Hulder on the edges of a battlefield and… realizes she never made a choice about this particular woman. And wonders why she can’t ;). BUT I didn’t wanna leave you hanging any longer. Hope you like my choices!

Hello!! Thank you so so so much. This ask is so incredibly sweet, especially because NWH is all but abandoned at this point. I didn’t even know anyone still knew that fic existed considering I have not updated it in well over a year at this point.

I’ve always really enjoyed exploring the heavier dynamics. There’s life in angst. Beauty in it. For me, it makes the happy ending that much better. And for fics without happy endings, it makes it raw and real. Thank you for your kind words. 3. Are there any particular aus or plots that you’d really like to write?

I’ve been toying with the idea of an au where Lyra takes her battleship to defect and become NOT a pirate, but a sort of maritime vigilante. She wouldn’t call herself a pirate and she wouldn’t raise a black flag, but she would be sailing without orders, challenging crews that bring harm to people, and trying to bring islands and towns under her dedicated protection in a way that she can’t do as a Marine (she would effectively be a pirate, because illegally sailing makes you a pirate however you wanna slice it, but she wouldn’t want to use the word because of old prejudices).

However... I just can’t see Lyra ever leaving the Navy. The way she sees it, the only way to fix the corruption in the Navy is to stay in long enough to fix it yourself by either advancing in rank high enough to effect change through regulation and law, or by training and producing generations of Marines under her with the same values as her own.

As for plots... it could be fun to write her encountering the Beasts pirates because as far as I know, don’t they collect Zoans? She’s a Mythical Zoan and I could see that bringing conflict about. I’d also really like to explore her worsening reputation among the Navy with other Marine writers, but we are few and far between. She’s a bit of a black sheep in the Navy in the post-Time Skip because of the limitations of her Fruit, so I wouldn’t mind writing that out a bit with someone who actually does treat her like a black sheep. Also, Lyra was trained by Vice Admiral Tsuru and sailed under her for the first fourteen years of her career, so a Tsuru or a Doflamingo/Donquixote Pirate to plot and develop a writing relationship with would be great, since she would logically have been close to Tsuru under her mentorship and she would have encountered and clashed with the Donquixotes numerous times because that’s who Tsuru chased. Come get you a hateship or a mentorship. : ).

13. Who are five of your favorite characters? (In the rp community or otherwise)

I’ll keep this to One Piece. I can’t possibly rank them, so this is in no particular order.

1. Smoker. Listen. Obviously, I am very biased towards Marines. I love that he fiercely loves and protects his redneck Marines (as a friend put it once). He executes the mission but he also knows when to call bullshit on unlawful orders and when to let people go. He was beaten to a bloody pulp by Doflamingo to let the Straw Hats and Law get away. He fought Vergo until he couldn’t move anymore because the guy betrayed the trust of his Marines and he was pissed. He can put aside his personal pride when it comes to the greater good. Smoker has an awesome moral compass but still does his damn job, and I love that. (Also, Vice Admiral Momonga and that female Marine on the Giant Squad get honorable mentions. I love that Momonga is one of the most formidable Marines as far as we know, he’s just a swordsman with no Devil Fruit. And that female Giant Marine gave 0 shits and attacked Oars Jr. head-on; she is fearless and I love her. )

2. Sir Crocodile. I’m a sucker for a mafia boss. Listen. Crocodile is just so cool. I love his attitude, his design, his laugh, the way he talks down to EVERYONE, his awesome sand powers, the fact that his own arrogance was his downfall, not necessarily the power of his opponent, and just... Every time Crocodile’s on the screen, I’m grinning ear to ear, loving everything that comes out of his mouth. I used to write Crocodile and I miss it. He’s a bad bitch and I love him so much. I hope he’s doing well in the New World; I believe in him.

3. Doflamingo. If you can’t tell, I love villains. I love villains with vast underground criminal empires and surrogate mob families and long eerie laughs. I love that Doflamingo is unquestionably evil. His background, his actions, his perspectives --- he has incredibly few redeemable qualities and the series doesn’t try to sugarcoat it. Even when he’s kind to his Family, you know it’s just because he’s using them. After all, he says he won’t forgive anyone who hurts his family, but he also asks them to kill themselves for him. He is straight up terrifying when he is angry, with those veins in his forehead and giant grin on his face. I love that his power of strings could have been so unassuming but he made it so insanely powerful. I stan (1) puppet-master. God save the rightful King of Dressrosa.

4. Warden Magellan. Listen up. I feel like people forget how unbelievably awesome Warden Magellan is. He was an absolute nightmare for Luffy. The only reason Luffy got out of there alive is because of Ivankov, just by a fluke chance, being there to save him from the poison, and Bon Clay, by fluke chance, giving them the escape from the prison by opening the Gates. Magellan, considering his power, could very well be one of the most powerful people in One Piece that no one remembers. He can literally wash hundreds of people away in a tide of poison and they will die from it so long as they don’t have special poison resistance and you can’t touch him or you’ll get poisoned, too. More important than his incredibly underrated power, when everything in Impel Down was going to Hell and everyone was freaking out because of multiple crises occurring on multiple levels, he maintained his composure and demonstrated INCREDIBLE LEADERSHIP for subordinates by giving concise and clear directions for them to follow and then taking the lead on challenging the most dangerous threat to them. He also imprisoned Shiryu because he was being cruel to prisoners, stating that the prisoners are just there to be held, they’re not to be toyed with. He has a heart, he‘s a good guy just doing his job of keeping the worst of the worst behind bars so everyone else can be safe. I love Magellan so much. I hate that he stepped down from his position as Warden because he literally did the best he could with the circumstances he was given; no one could have done better. I hope he returns to the series.

5. King of Wildfire. I’ve known of King’s existence for all of four days and I already love him. I’ve seen (1) clip of him and I read his Wikipedia. That’s it. I’m not that far in the anime at all, but the clip I saw... just showed me that he’s my kind of person. Something was happening so he went and fucking handled it. And they played heavy metal in the background while he did it. I’m all in on King. ALL IN.

Some Headcanons

I think by now everyone is aware that I love Echani.

I've loved them since I met the Handmaiden in KOTOR 2 and I've tried to find as much on them as possible. But as it is with most Star Wars stuff, it was rather lacking and not at all great in some parts, so I've compiled some of my ideas.

This are, of course Headcanons. You don't have to like or use them, I'm just here screaming my thoughts at the void that is dumblr.hellsite, that's all.

Fighting

So I like to imagine the style has basics, like every other style, but each individual takes those basics and morphs it into their own signature style, since that's also a form of communication.

I got rid of the 'They're all white and near identical!' bullshit by the way, so it's no longer a form of identification, but it's still a very personal thing, tied very closely to personality and the way each individual communicates.

Also, I picture the style to be like, a hybrid between Aikido and Tai Chi.

Being a very important and central part of the culture it's basically everywhere. Fighting/Dueling is basically a form of bonding, a way to get to know people, done for fun, a way to solve arguments, flirting/courting, for noble families and for important positions of power it's a way to prove someone's worthiness for the position or a marriage for example.

While they do a lot of hand to hand there's also weapons involved. I like to imagine everyone has a weapon of their choice, and part of coming of age is having a weapon forged.

And since I give 0 shits about canon they have Force forging so said weapon is attuned to the user even if they are not sensitive (They have special blacksmiths to make said weapons and everyone gets them, regardless of social status.)

There's also Firedancers, which are basically just a faction of warriors who like to set their weapons on fire and fight like that. Though there's special training for it, and it's considered a great honor since not everyone has the skill required to become one.

What has been changed from Canon?

They're not all white anymore.

They also no longer basically treat Tyrsians as second class citizens (FYI Tyrsians are dark skinned in canon. Like the implications there guys great job.).

Some more physical differences with humans, still working on them though.

Basically all I just said about fighting is new, and I made it so they're less neutral, and actually willing to side with the Empire more. They are kinda just fence sitting for most of the lore. And also, the Six Echani planets are no longer just 4 of them doing great while 2 get fucked over. (Also yes, said 2 planets are the ones with Dark skinned people....)

Also, Tyrsians and Echani are basically the same to me as a species, the difference is religion. Echani worship the Moon (Goddess) and Tyrsians worship the Sun (God) and both are chill with each other and live in a thriving society.

This is not to say it's perfect society, by any means.

I've also kept them being led by a matriarch.

How do they train their kids?

I like to think they start at around 4-5 years, with very mild and basic stuff like how to stand properly and such. Mostly just setting the basics for later fighting techniques.

But the important part of early training is that they teach the kids how to read body language and the value it has for them and all that. There's some minimal punch and kick throwing. It's more or less like playing and getting those fine motor skills ready for later.

Proper training starts at 7 and then they can start beating each other up gently

So...what's their communication like?

Okay, so this doesn't mean they are stupid at talking and that there isn't good verbal communication because Gods know fiction needs healthy communication.... It's mostly just their belief that body language has no room for lying.

They learn how to spot subtleties in other's body language. Awkward situation? They can read that by the way someone tenses, a tic in their face. Angry? The person throws punches a different way if they are, they stand in a different way. Sad? Fighting is more tame, they move in a clumsier way.

Basically, they just super read into body language. And that's the point of sharing so much time and sparring with other's. Just get to know them and how they express their personality through their body.

It's basically the psychological definition of "Attitude" which is "Body posture regarding a certain situation"

Its just been amped up for fiction.

Also, they wear super light clothing and armor because it doesn't hide the body or interferes with reading body language

Heavy armor outside of contexts that require it or covering up are taken as a signal that a person is hiding something.

Echani Special Weapon Stuff

Like I said, they all get one weapon that is specific to the person. This is whatever they prefer in a fight, swords, sabers, shamshirs, axes, staves, whatever weapon you can imagine under the sun, they can and will use it.

The specific weapon is basically an extension of the person, and it being attuned makes it feel off for anyone else that tries to use it and could even fail them. I like to think that sensitive couples that bond can use each other's weapons with no problem though, specially stronger bonds.

Once the owner passes away, the weapon is kept around to honor them, but it's not for others to use, if you use a weapon of a dead relative you're basically doing them a great dishonor.

Exceptions being self defense, or having the weapon with you at important events when the person meant a lot to you and you would have liked them to be present at it (A father missing at a wedding because they passed away young so the son/daughter takes the weapon with them during said event.)

There's family weapons, those are used for duels and training and whatever you can think of, basically. These are not special or attuned to anyone in particular, they're just weapons cause, Echani like weapons. And honestly who doesn't?

They can also be used as gifts, if someone is a close friend or as payment for something. Also, for those outside the Echani that get involved with them, to be given one of those weapons it's basically to be considered family already.

They get this around their 20th birthday.

Biology Stuff

I like to think they have a faster heart beat than humans, are warmer than them as well, a lot more stamina, and a full Echani can live up to 300 years. Hybrids vary, depending on the other race. Human-Echani hybrids which I go for usually I hc live between 150-200 years.

The white/grey/silver hair is dominant in most cases. Like 95% of the time. The eyes too, but those can go with a whatever mix you want.

This are some thought al tuntún, I'll try to get some more ideas in order at some other point. Or more like, write them down, since I've some hc for their food, weddings and honoring their dead already, I'm just really bad at writing stuff down.

And on that note, thanks to @tinybuggy for asking me about this stuff on discord which finally led to me writing it down and to @emotionalsupportsith for saving it in a handy drive document because otherwise I would've never even tried to post the stuff.

(I low-key hate weddings and think the wedding industry is such a scam. So I’m doing this because I love you lol)

- Bucky doesn’t want anything big - But he didn’t even have to voice that for you to know - It’s just your immediate family, your few best friends, and the Avengers - The two of you decide just to have witnesses, instead of a huge wedding party. So just one person for each of you (basically a maid of honor & best man)- You didn’t really need one. But you knew it was important to Bucky for Steve to be at his side

- Bucky told the team that you weren’t a planner and the wedding was already stressing you out- So the team takes it upon themselves to split up the responsibilities- Pepper finds a venue and makes sure no one finds out about the wedding (no press finding out about this secret with Pepper Potts on the job!). She organizes the caterers and liquor and seating like it ain’t no thing. While you would be stressed out of your mind doing it, she makes it look fun. The only thing she asks of you is to make the seating arrangements. - Tony pays for literally everything no matter how many times you and Bucky insist it was unnecessary and far too much- Money means nothing to him- Sam finds the best wedding band to ever grace the planet. He thinks DJs are trashy and having a live band is way more fun - Natasha finds an amazing designer to make you a custom wedding dress - Wanda helps you with your hair and makeup. And she found the most beautiful earrings for you to wear - To everyone’s surprise, Steve helps with decorating. The two of you team up and you always forget that Steve’s an artist. He helped with the lighting and color scheme. He also gives his opinion on what photographer to choose. You trust his artistic eye and creative opinion- Vision helps hang string lights and speakers and any other labor that is required. He doesn’t fully understand wedding culture. But is so polite and supportive and helps any way he can- Bruce does his best to keep you calm. He keeps things in perspective whenever you start to panic about things and logistics- Clint makes sure that the wedding is fun. He make’s sure the dance floor is the right size and in the right place. He also helps Sam with the list of ‘must play’ songs for the band to play - Thor knows just as little about Midgardian wedding traditions as Vision. But it’s almost worse because he expects weird Asgardian traditions that make 0 sense to anyone. He’s kind of just along for the ride. But the moment anyone asks for his help, he jumps at the opportunity - It’s not until a few weeks before the wedding that you and Bucky decide that Thor would be the perfect person to officiate the wedding - Once T'Challa hears about the wedding, he offers to have a Wakandan seamstress make a custom-made tuxedo for Bucky - Bucky nearly cries at the gesture. Afterall, Wakanda is the place that made him whole again- T'Challa comes to the wedding with Shuri - On the day of the wedding, Steve has never seen Bucky look so calm - “You okay, bud?” He grips his shoulder- Bucky smiles, “Yeah, why do you ask?”- “You are being freakishly calm.”- “I’m marrying her, Steve. What do I have to be nervous about?”- Steve has to excuse himself because he doesn’t want to start crying in front of Bucky - Bucky wanted to cut his hair and shave his beard for the wedding. (He was stuck in the old mentality of being clean cut for one’s wedding day). He thinks it’s what you want - But you practically beg him not to - “I want you to look like you, Buck. The long hair, the scruff… that’s what the man I fell in love with looks like.” - You have a non-religious ceremony that involves Thor’s beautiful speech about love and how much he sees of it between you and Bucky - To your surprise, Bucky had decided that you two should write your own vows- Everyone know’s he’s a quiet man- He shows love in his actions and touches, instead of with his words - So you’re shocked when you hear what he has to say - “After all of the things I’ve done, I didn’t think the universe would find me worthy of love. So when I met you, I never thought I’d be lucky enough to even be your friend. Yet you decided I was worthy. And I’ve been trying to make sure I am every damn day. I love that, to you, I’m only Bucky. I love that you don’t treat me like I’m made of glass. You make fun of me and tease me when I don’t get pop culture references or mess up modern slang. You’re not scared when my demons make their way back into my life. You fight them beside me and treat them as if they’re your own. I will love you for the rest of my messed up life. Because…And I don’t think Steve would mind if I borrowed our line… I’m with you till the end of the line.”- You’re crying so hard that you can barely read your own- You and Bucky don’t stop smiling at each other for the rest of the night - Steve cries harder than anyone… because he’s so happy his best friend finally got something good in his life - People dance and drink and there was never a happier wedding in the world

WISHLIST, BE IT PLOTS OR SCENARIOS: I will eventually make a wishlist post for each and everyone of my characters. Though the ones that would be more interesting, for the moment, would be an arc for Milot in which he grows a bit from the idiot bigot child he is while getting some recognition for his abilities an arc for Feirun who has trust issues and would simply like to feel like she belongs somewhere, thus indulging in friendships — and an arc for Dianor regarding the Calling, to see where it could lead, whether to the finding of a cure or to his death.

THEMES I WON’T EVER RP / EXPLORE: There aren’t specific themes I will never explore, but some themes, however, like suicide, I’d be willing to explore if done with taste and regard to others and with a person who would be willing to explore it with me. I’m about realism, and given that some themes are a bit heavy for me as well I always do it in a manner that does not diminish neither the theme nor the person involved with it.

WHAT TYPE OF STARTERS DO YOU PREFER / DISLIKE, CAN’T WORK WITH?: I can usually work with anything, but one liners that feel empty in attempt are usually really frustrating.

WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTERS CATCH YOUR INTEREST THE MOST?: Going for the cliches: innocent young ones, honor-bound ones and villains. I don’t have much of a preference but these tend to be more fun for me.

WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTERS CATCH YOUR INTEREST THE LEAST?: Self-inserts that claim to be self-inserts and that end up being straight up mary sues. I like self-inserts when portrayed naturally and truthfully, even if it’s the type of character that doesn’t catch my eye at first.

WHAT ARE YOUR STRONG ASPECTS AS RP PARTNER?: I’m very laid back and I’m patient. Given that I actually spent a lot of my time on this site and know the kinds of people wandering these halls, I know who to avoid in case of senseless drama and how to handle it if directed at me or at my rp partners. I would also like to add feel lucky to have met people who are the same on this site.

WHAT ARE YOUR WEAK ASPECTS AS RP PARTNER?: It can often be consistency. I can be really pumped up for a plot, then be extremely slow in replying to threads. Right now it’s mostly due to the fact that all of these muses are new and I have to think about what they’d say and do. An initial idea shared with a rp partner, too, might fall apart the moment I realise that it couldn’t work with my muse for the same reason.

DO YOU RP SMUT?: YES / NO / DEPENDS on the character I’m writing. It has to make sense for the muse; if my current muses are, for example, Dianor, Vincent or Lottie, they have a higher chance of being open to smut. Others need an emotional connection or very specific requirements. I’m not against it entirely, though I’m terrible at writing it.

DO YOU PREFER TO GO INTO DETAIL?: YES / NO / DEPENDS.

ARE SHIPS IMPORTANT TO YOU?: YES / NO. Ships can be of any kind — platonic, romantic, familiar and so on. Human connection is important in stories, and to find some is always a good thing for me.

WOULD YOU SAY YOUR BLOG IS SHIP-FOCUSED?: YES / NO. I do have some ships going on but I’d still run my blog if there weren’t many. I like exploring different kinds of relationships, not just the positive ones.

For example, Feirun has 0 interpersonal skills and has never been with anyone before, therefore seeing her accepting the fact that she has feelings for someone, and growing a sense of worth that leads her to go for it, is fantastic. For Octavia, too, despite her lack of interest in sex, she can still be romantically interested in people, which happens rarely due to her difficult character; when it does happen, she tends to become a bit softer, and that’s my jam.

ARE YOU OKAY WITH PRE-ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS?: YES / NO / DEPENDS.

Tristan is an Inquisitor who only wishes to be strong enough to protect everyone, he can be all about love and support to other muses or create interesting conflicts. Feirun is a feral squirrel, honestly, but due to her background she can lead to interesting plots tied with Tevinter or the Qun. Milot is a young soldier who wishes to prove himself, he is often in need of guidance but he himself can teach a thing or two about being comfortable with one’s self. Vincent is a particular kind of abomination, thus it could be interesting to have him interact with other mages / templars / really, anyone who has a problem with demons. Lottie is an orlesian spy and a functional psychopath, it can lead to many interesting plots with a large variety of characters. Octavia could be one of the most interesting ones given her background, since the actions of whoever surrounds her in the Inquisition could lead her to find actual morals and discover emotional intelligence rather than having her stay the same person she was before.

WHAT DO THEY DESIRE, WHAT IS THEIR GOAL?: Dianor just wants to find a cure for the calling and live freely. Tristan thinks he wants to save everyone, but he really needs people who help him overcome his own issues. Feirun wants somewhere to belong, people to be close with, having been alone for most of her life. Milot wants to become a knight and be treated like the other soldiers, without the special treatment he often gets due to his age. Lottie just wants money, I think. Vincent wants to either find a way to get the demon out of his body or die. Octavia would like to take revenge on her father and go back to Tevinter, but she might need some emotional guidance at first.

WHAT CATCHES THEIR INTEREST FIRST WHEN MEETING SOMEONE NEW?: Dianor gets along with other rogues. Tristan is like a dog, happy to see anyone. Feirun has a particular interest for the Qunari. Milot greatly regards knights and people in power who show honor and integrity. Octavia likes people who do their job and are unapologetic about it. Lottie enjoys meeting any kind of character that she could get something out of. Vincent is often very happy to see other mages and men, honestly.

WHAT THEMES DO THEY LIKE TALKING ABOUT?: Dianor likes to tell stories of any kind. Tristan enjoys talking about plans for the Inquisition. Feirun likes to talk about lore, archeological finds, books and magic. Milot... likes to talk about battles, I guess. Lottie enjoys discussing Orlais fashion. Octavia loves discussing magic, blood magic specifically. Vincent likes to discuss art.

DID THEY EVER WENT THROUGH SOMETHING TRAUMATIC?: Dianor lost his best friend Tamlen and had to save Thedas, now the Calling is killing him from the inside. Tristan couldn’t save a clan of dalish elves being attacked by a Teyrn. Feirun was abandoned by the dalish when she was 8 and was beaten and hunted by Templars for a while. Octavia discovered she was an half-elf and fruit of scandal and went on the run for it. Vincent was friends with a spirit who turned into a demon while saving his life from templars. Milot saw his farm, his home being destroyed by battles between mages, templars and demons. Lottie... once wore bad shoes?

WHAT COULD LEAD TO AN INSTANT KILL?: Darkspawn for everyone. Mages for Milot. Templars for Feirun and Vincent.

IS THERE SOMEONE /-THING THEY HATE?: Darkspawn. Mages in general for Milot, he’s really afraid of them and would not hesitate to bring them down in battle. Feirun and Vincent detest the Templars due to the abuse they’ve faced because of them.

ARE YOUR MUSES EASY TO APPROACH?: Dianor, Tristan and Vincent are the easiest ones to approach. The others can be... difficult to handle at first.

3 points: (1) Your grammar got on my nerves more than the actual statement itself. (2) The term “waifu” is creepy, and I personally don’t use it except as a joke. (3) You can’t “steal” away favorite characters.

As for the “busy” portion, feel free to refer to my previous asks on what I think about your accusations of my blog activity. If you really wanted to motivate me to work harder, you could’ve asked nicely instead of giving me all this material to sass you with, y’know.

I actually ended up writing an entire grammar lesson devoted to #1 plus some ramblings about my issues with the term “waifu” in general, but I assume you’re the same anon who sent the previous ask, i.e. I know you hate my long-winded answers. You can find the non-tl;dr version under the cut, if anyone’s interested in learning about a tricky English grammar rule.

…but since I find it important, let me put the essential part of the lecture up here for people to see: STOP CASUALLY USING APOSTROPHES TO DENOTE PLURALS. IT’S WRONG. waifu’s → waifus.

All right, have your “Keep reading” thing now.

1. It’s “waifus”, not “waifu’s”.

I get that, for some godforsaken reason, people have it in their minds that adding an apostrophe + s to certain words creates the plural for those words. But it’s wrong. Let me say that again for emphasis. IT’S WRONG. You only use this form in very special cases for plurals - mainly, to avoid confusion. Here are some examples:

How many i’s are in Mississippi? I’m still triggered when I see 0’s because of that one LLS episode. There were countless “harasho’s” transmitted in the lobby of the EliRin Score Match. → Used when counting letters/numbers/words, though usually people (including me because I’m lazy) omit it. This is because “How many is are in Mississippi” looks hella confusing, while in most cases people will generally understand what you’re saying (i.e. you’re referring to the phrase “harasho” rather than some unknown word “harashos”).

I have B.A.’s in Politics and Economics. → Used for abbreviations with more than one period. Does not apply to abbreviations without periods, such as TVs. This rule is pretty much ignored too, since like I said before it’s not essential for clearing up any confusion.

You should use apostrophes for possessive cases and contractions, e.g. “I can’t handle this anon’s misuse of the apostrophe.” You could’ve said “I will steal your waifu’s love from you” and that would’ve been perfectly acceptable. TBH I’m actually more upset by your grammar mistake than the statement itself which probably says a lot about me as a person lol.

I know perfect grammar isn’t called for on the internet. Hell, I use “imma” and “gonna” all the time. But even slang follows certain structures - I’ve read papers on the subject and even went through a college lecture on this. The “you that busy” (as opposed to “you’re that busy”) works fine for slang, but the “waifu’s” thing? Nope. A lot of style guides argue over how to use apostrophes in different situations, but nowhere will you find one that allows you to use “waifu’s” as a plural.

So for the love of god, to everyone reading: STOP CASUALLY USING APOSTROPHES TO DENOTE PLURALS. Please. I die a little every time I see it, which is why I’m going through the trouble of pointing this out.

Addendum: If English isn’t your first language, I applaud your progress in the language so far, and hope that you consider this an informative lesson on the subject. If it is, please note that you’ve been upstaged by some punk who spoke Korean better than English until about age 7.

2. I don’t refer to Love Live! characters as “waifus”, so your statement is invalid.

I haven’t used the term for favorite characters since my high school days except to parody something (e.g. “rinnya aishiteru be mai waifu 4ever!!!111”). I don’t use the term “waifu” in the LL fandom - in fact, I don’t even use it at all outside of a joking context.

You might have noticed that I often refer to the LL girls in the following ways:

bless this child

look at my beautiful daughter

someone stop this kid

I’m Suwawa’s age, so do the math: I’m old. Though actually, referring to high school girls as wives is pretty creepy, regardless of age. Anyways, I’ve reached the point where I relate more to the parents going “omg this child is being reckless and doing stupid shit” instead of going “omg this superhero is being badass”. Seriously. I watched Spiderman: Homecoming recently and couldn’t stop pulling my hair out over Peter Parker’s stupidity. Instead of being impressed by the fight scenes, I was more worried about all the cars being destroyed in the movie (What if someone’s livelihood depends on their ability to drive to work?! Oh my god Parker, you just destroyed a car you borrowed from someone, that was an Audi do you know how much those things cost) and the poor saps who had to rebuild all the structures in New York and Maryland (You get a free suit from Iron Man, and you repay him by causing needless destruction to people’s homes and businesses?! Parker you little shit you go to a school for gifted kids so fucking stay in it!!!).

Whoops, got sidetracked. What I’m trying to say is, the LL characters are teenage girls. I’m not interested in them romantically. If anything, I see them as kids who need protection from all their haters and precious darlings who need to be shown the best of the world.

Do you want to know who I’ve used the term “waifu” for? Just two people.

The first is a living, breathing, actual person in real life who was one of my best friends in high school. I’m pretty sure you’re not referring to her. If you are, that’s hella creepy for a whole bunch of reasons, including “dude i don’t call her that now and she’s probably taken” and “that’s a detail from my private life, how the fuck did you even know about that???”. I nicknamed her “Waifu” for shits and giggles. Well, there was actually a reason behind it, but, uh…it’s a long story.

Anyways, there is exactly one anime character I’ve labeled “waifu”, and that dubious honor goes to Nagato Yuki of the Haruhi series. She was my first legitimate favorite character, since IMO characters like Pikachu and Sasuke don’t count (I just thought he was cool back when I was like 11, plus that was before he pulled all that weird shit with Orochimaru…oh god I feel old again). But yeah, instead of just going “I like her because she’s pretty/kickass” I was just like “omg she does so much to protect her friends and suffers so much, why can’t she be happy???”…which is, admittedly, a trend with my favorite characters…why am I like this…

Anyways, I’m pretty sure you weren’t referring to her, either.

3. You can’t “steal” away favorite characters, so your statement is still invalid.

Let’s assume that you were thinking of Rin and You (and maybe Shukashuu?) when you were sending in that ask. Here’s the issue - “your” waifus. Uh, news flash: you can’t steal away a favorite character. Like, my favorite color is red, and you’re allowed to have that be your favorite color too.

That’s partially why I detest the term “waifu” - it implies exclusivity and possession. They’re not “things” you can take. Also, I kinda hate people who bicker over who’s the #1 fan of a certain person or character. Bruh, if you’re a true fan you’d just cheer them on from the sidelines and want the best for them, rather than poisoning the fandom with your attacks.

And on the subject of that “(and maybe Shukashuu?)” above…referring to seiyuu as “waifus” is super-duper mega creepy. They’re real people, and they’re all pretty young, too. Please treat them with respect.

tl;dr: I don’t have “waifus”, and even if I did you can’t “steal” them away. Also, please fix your grammar.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

December 9: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

I feel like in recent years I've seen a lot of rhetoric claiming that this is the worst of all the Star Wars movies. But I've always felt like the prequels improve as they go, at least a little. Like, Hayden Christiensen might not be especially good, but he's an improvement on Jake Lloyd. Is there less of the childish stuff in this movie? Let's press play and find out.

Opening crawl is first mention of Count Dooku; seems like the previous stuff was resolved and a new story is beginning. Maybe that's why it's common for people to recommend skipping Episode I, like it's not actually necessary.

We also at this point in the natural chronology don't know anything about clones. Just the title here.

Another decoy-Amidala, but this one gets blowed up right away. And that's Rose Byrne, right?

0:07:30 - Obi-wan does a "oh… oh yes…. Mm mm mm mm mm mm" thing which is stupid and I don't like it.

Wait, no Rose Byrne is a silent handmaiden lady I guess. Unless they're clonesies. Are they clonesies?

Hey, a glimpse of Coruscant's colorful nightlife scene! Or at least some commercial advertisements. Feels like we don't see much of the lives of regular folk of Coruscant much.

Super pretty imagery of this city at night with its traffic and lights and I know I say that every time but it's great.

0:14:30 - Obi-wan shooting himself through a hole in the window in pursuit of that flying robot villain is exciting! And then he just hangs onto it, and then the sniper snipes him off it and he just falls and falls! This is a good action scene.

Then later, Anakin just jumps and falls and falls on purpose like and it's fun to watch.

0:20:00 - Does the sniper have a weird disguise that goes away when she turns her head? Is that what I saw?

"This weapon is your life" says Ewan McGregor doing his best impression of Alec Guinness. I think it was supposed to be funny. And I think it succeeds. Helps to remember that EG's natural accent is Scottish. And you know what? Maybe a little bit ago when I didn't like EG's hammy delivery, I should respect that he's embracing the need for him to embody a young version of Alec Guiness's character, figuring out what that would look like while honoring the director's vision.

They're in a nightclub, and I think there's some genuinely imaginative vision around what people are doing in there.

Ooh! The sniper got sniped by someone else, and the shot of that second sniper zipping away on a jetpack is I like it.

Senator Amidala gives Jar Jar the important job of substitute senator while she goes and hides. Yeah right. Not very credible.

Now Anakin is venting to Amidala in a way that shows how cocky he is. He does the flirtation stuff so that we'll think he's sexy like Han Solo, but also visibly flawed with impatience. Meh. Okay.

Whoa, Rose Byrne just did some acting! She spontaneously shed a tear in a way that looked authentic! Acting… in a Star Wars prequel!

0:31:50 - A greasy spoon diner! I don't remember this. Obi Wan is doing some intel gathering and George Lucas decided to go all in on having this be a 50's-style neon urban railcar slop counter!

The romance. Anakin and Amidala. GL is also going all in on the overtness of that plot. Maybe it's fine? Anakin seems like a horny and awkward teen with a huge crush on someone out of his league but he's going for it anyway. Maybe we'll be convinced that she'd succumb to his charms?

0:39:00 - We're back on Naboo… this scene is oddly non-CGI-looking. Did they film this in a real place with that actual architecture?

The tension they're setting up between Anakin and Amidala is moving in a direction of NOT growing fonder of each other. She looks irritated, and rightly so. This is a move that experienced romance plot makers make, but will GL pull it off?

Meanwhile Obi-Wan is doing spycraft, going to the clone planet place and pretending he's the one who ordered the whatever. "That's why I'm here!" Kinda funny.

0:44:45 - Okay, another A&A scene. He has that line about sand getting everywhere. She looks really damn fly. They kiss a bit and then she changes her mind. See, this is a weak link in the romance plot. We don't buy it. She's not such a sucker that she'd want to kiss him now. She didn't go, "oh he was so charming when he talked about where sand goes that now I'm not only less annoyed by his churlishness but I'm actually turned on". Or did she.

There's something about Obi-Wan's intel gathering, realizing that this huge army of clones is being put together, that's very James Bond-y. I mean that in a good way.

Naboo countryside is hella pretty.

Oh ick. A very very stupid romance scene just happened. See, Anakin fell off a blob creature and it looked like he was hurt! This worried Amidala! She ran to him but it turned out he was okay! They laughed and laughed at this merry misunderstanding and rolled around together! Oh merry! And…. SCENE.

Now Obi-Wan and Jango Fett are having a fight on a platform place and it's pretty exciting and still kind of like a Bond movie. Even more so because of "gadgets" like the devices on JF's outfit. And a dippy little "this is not good" comment from Obi-Wan that would fit in okay coming out of 007.

A&A go to Tatooine and talk to the salvage dealer who used to own Anakin. I like where that CGI character visibly starts to recognize the grown-up Anakin.

Obi-Wan followed JF & Son to a pretty red planet with an asteroid field and it's fucking beautiful and they do this wicked sound effect with bombs and it looks and sounds mother fucking amazing. Seriously god damn. The SOUND.

1:11:40 - They're at what will be the moisture farm of Luke, et al. "I'm Owen Lars and this is my GIRLFRIEND Beru." See, because this is BEFORE they're married. She's JUST his GIRLFRIEND.

1:14:20 - Okay, they just did a weird thing where A&A have an exchange, then hug. But the camera just shows their SHADOWS. And Anakin's shadow looks like he maybe kind of has some semblance of a VADER HELMET. I'm not even that convinced that that's what they were going for. If it actually conveyed that, it'd be cooler. As is, it's a little awkward. But I wouldn't discourage a director from going for this kind of thing.

Anakin found the Tusken Raider camp where they'd brought his mom and he found her just in time for her to die. Like she was just hanging on long enough for him to witness her death. Melodramatic. Then he goes and slaughters everyone… this turns out to be important because it's the catalyst for him turning dark, but it's sort of a weak explanation for something so important.

So HC just did a rage monologue about how he killed everyone, and okay it's not good, but I really don't think it's HC that isn't good. I think he did his very best with really dumb writing.

1:34:30 - Ooh, we're back in that neat senate hall. Jar Jar was suckered into proposing that Palpatine be given special powers, and it's super easy and it just works, and the Jedi are like "oh, hm, bummer". I'm just not impressed with the story.

A&A have arrived on Geonosis and it's quickly quite actiony and rather like a video game where they have to fight robots and hop on platforms at just the right time. I dig it.

It's a little odd now… so I already forgot how A&A got captured in the video game factory place, but they're quickly hustled to an execution arena to be munched to death by monsters before a delighted audience. With Obi-Wan. Just a little odd, but now it's pretty fun action.

Oh yeah, Mace Windu cut Jango Fett's right head off! Forgot that. Another case of an interesting villain ending disappointingly. Except that it's important because his "son" witnesses it and looks vengeance-y.

1:56:40 - Yoda heroically shows up to save the good guys with a force of soldiers that look kind of like Stormtroopers. Those are clones, right? I guess so, but the movie didn't quite ensure we know that. I mean, if they're going to treat the audience like children with their jokes, maybe they could extend that same expectation to plot explanations.

Okay, so now they're in a much bigger battle. I like the flying thing that delivers a walking tank thing! Lots of exciting things to look at. It's not that clear which side is which, not by looking at the battle, but maybe that doesn’t matter too much.

They shoot down a globe-shaped ship as it's taking off and it's pretty. So is lots of this battle stuff.

How does Anakin have a lightsaber now? His was broken earlier. I'm probably not the first to ask that. I probably overlooked the explanation. Seems like they trimmed stuff out of this part of the movie to improve the pacing.

2:07:50 - This is the part that worked well enough that it's probably the main factor in holding this movie's reputation above that of Episode I: the light saber duel with Yoda! Those of us who had played the Dark Forces PC games were already familiar with how it would look to see a Yoda-type wailing on someone with a light saber, but it was a pleasant surprise for many, and it definitely worked.

Then Dooku escapes on a ship that does a really sweet-looking panel-unfurling thing. Love it. And then he goes to Coruscant. Very visibly. Which is for me to love some more.

The movie ends right after that, with Yoda observing that it's dumb to think of this as a victory because now the Clone War has started. Then we get suitably disturbing imagery of the Clone Army being imposing with, significantly, the Imperial March in the background. It's okay. Then a shot of A&A getting hitched. With, a little less significantly, the new tragic-love theme in the background which John Williams was probably pretty pleased with. And over. Okay.

Yeah, better than Episode I. Less childish. Although it's harder to point to a climax, it somehow seems less anti-climactic than Ep1. No less impressive visually, but with new locales compared with the first one. And it's true that you can get all the information you need by starting here instead of with the first one.

Arplis - News: My 22 Goals for 2019

Goal #1 — Spend More Time Doing What I Love Little Miss Lucy Goose met her new vet this week and absolutely loves her. The fact that they give Lucy little treats while she’s getting her mani/pedi has something to do with it. Also, she is having a blast running around the yard now that it’s all fenced in. And just in time too! Three days after we finished, the ground froze. Goal #2 — Garden, Garden, Garden The day before the ground froze we planted a row of arborvitae trees along one side of the fence and moved 6 peony bushes to the side of the house. I would have liked to have gotten more done before the weather turned, but I am so very much ready for winter and all the calmness it brings to life here in New England. Having 4 true seasons, rocks. And I am looking forward to a restful winter. Goal #3 — Plant an Orchard {Calling it Quits on this one.} We are almost there!!! The first harvest could be anyway now. I’m just waiting for the color to deepen a bit. Goal #4 — Gussy Up the Potting Shed Done! I gussied up the potting shed at our old house, but I would like to add some sort of “potting station” to the backyard here somewhere, but I’m not sure where I would put it yet. Goal #5 — Grow Enough Extra Vegetables, Eggs and Flowers to Earn $1500 at my little roadside vegetable stand. It was totally my intention to grow a ton of fruits and vegetables to sell at the farm-stand when I made my list of goals for 2019 last winter, but then we moved. So, that whole goal was sort of a bust. Goal #6 — Finish Every Single Unfinished Rug Hooking Project in My Pattern Bin + 10 Things from back Issues of Magazines/Books I’ve Been Meaning to Make. This week I didn’t hook a single rug, but I did hand dye and put together about 100 bundles of wool for my Etsy shop. I still have a few more colors to do, but after that, my Etsy shop should be stocked well into next year and I’ll be able to start hooking in earnest again. 73 rugs in my pattern bin {now down to 27} 183 hooked flowers {finished 150, now down to 33} 10 “things” from back issues of magazines {finished 0} Goal #7 — Create 12 New Rug Hooking Patterns {with at least half of them being large ones} DONE! So far this year I’ve added 12 new rug hooking patterns and 13 beginner rug hooking kits to my Etsy shop. Thanks to the stress of moving and just getting outside and walking around more and working in the yard, Muffy has melted away. Goal #11 — Run, Walk or Crawl a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon You are not going to believe this. The Girl had to work on Saturday, and so I asked my husband if he would do the 5K with me and he said YES. I couldn’t believe it. Luckily I had chosen a 5k with a run or walk option and so with it being a whopping 28 degrees outside, we weren’t the only ones there in jeans. 😉 The proceeds of the race went to Honor Flight Maine {a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s Veterans for all their service and sacrifices. Honor Flight Maine transport America’s heroes to Washington, D.C. to tour, experience and reflect at their memorials.} Now all that’s left is the Pastry and Tea Half Marathon before I can check this goal off my list. Goal #12 — Read or Listen to 26 New Books {21 down, 5 to go} Still listening to Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan. Following Atticus Goal #13 — Try 52 New Recipes. 33 down, 19 recipes to go. Last week I shared a recipe for Turkey Salad. It’s the perfect recipe for using up those last pieces of turkey from Thanksgiving dinner. Goal #14 — Clean Up 52 Old Recipes on the Blog 9 down, 44 to go. I should get moving… because at this rate, I’ll be in the kitchen cooking the entire month of December. The poor bakeries. They’re going to suffer because I won’t be able to leave the house. Goal #15 — Fill 100 Canning Jars 48 down, 52 to go. No canning this past week and because I want to finish getting all that wool dyed, I won’t be canning anything this week either. Oddly enough though, I’m totally not even worried about reaching this goal. Peeps need their holiday jam, I’ll get it done. 🙂 So far this year I’ve I canned: 7 jars Peach Jam 7 jars of Strawberry Jam 15 jars of Carrot Cake Jam 15 jars of Spiced Pear Jam 4 jars of Almond Pears. Goal #16 — Finish Furnishing Our House I found a cadet blue vase at the thrift store this week {I found a pretty good one in town I like to pop in and check out every week} and brought it home. I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do with it yet, but I like it and didn’t want someone else to snatch it up. We also hung a reproduction vintage map of Maine that was printed with the E.B. White quote “I would rather feel bad in Maine than feel good anywhere else” in a handmade barnwood frame on the wall in the family room. I am going for a coastal look in there and things are starting to come together. I still need to make the roman shades and find {create?} a few more things for the walls, but I’m on track to get the room completed by the end of the month. Goal #17 – 52 Dates with the HH {38 down, 14 to go} We went on a lunch date to The Cheese Iron and walked a 5k together. 🙂 Goal #18 — Take One Adult Education Class Done {I’ve taken 3!} Block Printing Class with my neighbor. Spoon Carving Class with Heather. Mini pottery lesson {I loved it! and now I want to sign up for a full class} Goal #19 — Secret Holiday Project{s} One of my secret holiday projects this year was block print towels and another was to make a few seed packet wreaths. I do have a couple more projects that would be perfect for gift giving up my sleeve, and plan to share those on the blog soon. Goal #20 — Create 12 Wowie Zowie Party Platters 6 down, 6 to go. I need to get my game on. Seriously, I am running out of time. Goal #21 — Visit 12 General Stores 9 down 3 to go. The HH and I have plans to check out another one this week. 🙂 🙂 🙂 H.B. Turning 25, Adulting and Avoiding a quarter-life crisis 💫

There comes a point when a girl stops being a little less "excited" about her birthdays, because it usually brings up her age, which meant she's getting ~older~. For me, it was 22. After the year that iconically has a right-of-passage-song attached to it (if you've been living under a rock, Google Taylor Swift's 22), I feel like my age has stopped and I'm forever22, and I'm no longer aging LOL Now that I'm 25 this May 25, I wanted to share my thoughts about how I'm currently handling adulting and how I'm trying to avoid a quarter-life crisis, in the best possible way I could think of, by doing a fun shoot of course! 💁🏻‍♀️️

I could still remember, when I was 7 years old, I said to my mom that I couldn't wait to turn 20 and already be a young adult. She replied to me with a sigh, "wag kang nagmamadali anak, you won't notice how fast time will pass by." At that time, I didn't understand how that could be pagmamadali, as in my mind, turning 20 was like so so so so long from where I was before. But, come my 18th birthday, I had a traditional debut celebration here in the Philippines, 18 roses and all, that's when I realized what mom had said. That's when life was starting to shift gears and pick up the pace a lil bit faster.

18 was the year I decided to shift courses. From BS Applied Physics, I decided I wanted to do something else in my life. I just couldn't see myself in that path. A little back story - I only took up Applied Physics cuz it was a premed course in UP Manila, and I had an inclination to medicine, but again, I just couldn't imagine myself in that path anymore. I was always inclined to the arts. But I wanted a course that would challenge me (ohh and challenge me it did!) in terms of it not only being purely arts. I wanted it to have math and science too. That's why I chose BS Architecture!🌃

Okay, fast forward, I successfully shifted to UP Diliman, but there was a little bump in the road... Actually, it wasn't little. It felt like a big mountain that I had to hike over! Even though I passed all of my subjects from my first two years in Applied Physics, I had to go back to first year since Archi semesters required to have 1 Design class per semester, and they didn't allow them to have 2 or more in each sem! I WAS SHOOKT I TELL YA!! 😱Going in, I thought I could take all of these archi subjects together, but imagine my surprise during the general assemble when the College Secretary was explaining this. WHY wasn't this explained to us when we were shifting???

Come December of my first year in Archi, that's when I first started to feel it. The heavy feeling of being "late" in life. I know, it may seem OA for some, but really, it was so hard! You see your HS batchmates start to post grad pics of themselves (DLSU peeps have 3 year courses, and technically this is my 3rd year in college, so that's why they're already posting grad pics) and you're here, restarting your 1st year, one can't help to feel a little miserable (add to the fact that you're still finding yourself amidst the design insecurities that one might have, as expected of any art course!)

Fast forward again to third year aka hell year, and then fifth year which was thesis year, both years were difficult, the latter being the toughest! But I managed to graduate with flying colors and even bag a latin honor 💁🏻‍♀️

It was the start of a new chapter for me. Sure, it may have taken more pages compared to others, but I wouldn't tear off any page from those added 2 years in my life. If it weren't for those years, I wouldn't have met the people that are close to me right now, I wouldnt have experienced all of the fun things I enjoyed in college with them, and as cliche as it may sound, those years gave me character building.

Adulting is a whole 'nother level from college guys. In fact, I can't say that I'm already 100% adulting. I'm still under the gracious house of my parents, so I don't have to pay my own rent, electricity and water. But it's the start of making a conscious effort of trying to make ends meet.

As a fresh grad of Architecture in the Philippines, I'm so mad at our industry. I know not everybody knows this but, architects are already so under appreciated in our country, imagine how they treat those who haven't had their boards yet? (archi grads are required to take 2 years of ~working experience~ before being able to take the boards) It's a sad pill to swallow, but we have to keep moving forward. One step at a time. I'm currently taking it one day at a time and keeping my eye on my next target, which is the boards gahhhh it gives me so much anxiety thinking about it! 😭😅😂

With all of these things, come turning 25, you'd start to think about exactly where your life is going... is this the right path? Am I on time? Can I save enough money to buy my own house by the time that I turn 30? Will I have enough savings for my future wedding?? CHZ 😂 And if you really delve into these questions, you'd start to have what we millennials like to call, a quarter life crisis! 🙃

Sure, it's good that you're thinking about these things and planning ahead, but the moment that your thoughts become toxic and it paralyzes you, that's when it becomes worrisome. Don't dwell on your problems. Try to make concrete steps on how you're going to solve them. No matter how big or small each step may be, it's still a step towards growth and self betterment!

Generally speaking here are my big goals for now, finish my 2 years of work experience, and pass the boards. After that, I'm still planning what to do next. As for my little steps, I learned to take care of myself more and not be too hard on myself.

1. Give yourself a breather

After graduating, if you have the time and means, give yourself a break before starting to find a job. I'm glad I had one, and all of my friends who immediately started working regretted not having one. It was the perfect way to detox and recharge yourself. And if you're already working now, do give yourself breaks where you get to relax and not stress about anything! Life's not all work.

2. Do what you love

In that period of break, try to do as many things that you love! Hobbies and activities that excite you. Things that you didn't have time when you were focused on your studies during college. For me, it was my b/vlogging. There were busy months wherein some of my friends and family thought I've fully taken on the b/vlogger life because of the back to back events, but as much as I'd love to, I know I wanna be an architect someday, so that's my main focus. And now that I'm working, I try to squeeze in my hobbies every now and then to make each week happier and more exciting. You have to have something to look forward to!

3. Take care of your body - Physically

Having 8 hours of sleep, eating healthy and exercising regularly can make all the difference to your mind and body! Okay so this part, admittedly I'm having a hard time as well. Having 8 hours of sleep is a struggle for me as I'm always busy, I try to eat as healthily as possible so that's why I bring baon to work so I don't have to buy fast food, and as for exercising, I'm too tired after work that I don't have time for it anymore. My goal now is to incorporate these more in my life and be a better version of me. Who says resolutions are only for new years?

4. - And emotinally/spiritually

Now, I don't want to sound all preachy, but I really do find peace whenever I talk to God. During those toughest times, I always prayed to Him and asked for his guidance and holy spirit to help me find my way. If you find going to church isn't your thing, try to find a quite and safe space where you can meditate. Clear your mind and just release all the negative energy.

5. Celebrate yourself!

Self love isn't selfish! Give yourself a pat in the back. You worked so hard, don't wait for anyone's appraisal. Treat yo self. With your fave food, drink, movie, or anything actually (in my case, a fun shoot with a creative photographer and hmua team hi josh, danica and camille 💁🏻‍♀️)

NBA ROUNDUP | Cavs still searching after loss to Kings, Warriors bounce back

AFP The NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers’ struggles continued with an overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday as the Golden State Warriors got back on track with a victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Not even a second straight triple-double from superstar LeBron James could lift the Cavs, who fell 116-112 and have lost their last three games and six of their last eight. “Just try to get better,” was James’s prescription. “We’ve got to get better that’s all. “We had our opportunities. It don’t matter who we go against, if they’re sub-.500 or plus-.500, we know we’re going to get everybody’s best, so we’ve just got to be better.” The comments were tame compared to the tirade James delivered after Monday’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, calling the squad “top-heavy” and questioning management’s commitment to retaining the title. Cavs general manager David Griffin met with James about the outburst, saying it “certainly wasn’t appropriate from a teammate perspective”. Although he and coach Tyronn Lue said the air had been cleared, the Cavs couldn’t reverse their fortunes on court in Cleveland. After Aaron Afflalo’s three-pointer with 30.8 seconds left in overtime put Sacramento up 115-112, James missed a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining and Kings star DeMarcus Cousins capped the scoring with a free-throw with five seconds to play. Cousins scored a game-high 28 points with 11 rebounds, nine assists and three steals for the Kings. James scored 24 points with 13 rebounds and 11 assists in defeat. “It seems like when you’re losing, you’re not playing well, every ball bounces the other team’s way, every mistake you pay for it,” Lue said. “That’s what’s happening right now, so we’ve got to dig ourselves out of it.” The Golden State Warriors, in contrast, wasted no time in righting the ship after a shock loss to the Miami Heat on Monday. Thomas was asked if the chants meant more in a game in which Houston’s Most Valuable Player candidate, James Harden, was on the floor. “No,” he said. “It always means a lot with the best fans in the world. Why I Quit Smoking Cannabis

I’m writing this for anybody who wants to quit smoking cannabis, as I’m sure by sharing my journey letting go of this plant, that it will help many of you who are also struggling with letting go…

First, let’s give some background story:

My Personal Journey

I started smoking when I was 15, and from the age of 16 – 19, I was smoking a LOT.

I used cannabis to help me with bodybuilding (gaining weight), and learning online marketing, which is what these years of my life were dedicated to.

Since that period, I have had a relationship with it, on and off, where I would smoke every day for periods of time (weeks to months) and then take a break…

But the cycle would continue, and I would find myself smoking cannabis unconsciously and excessively (in my opinion), and ultimately seeing that it was taking away from my life…

It’s Not About Cannabis

Before we dive deeper, let’s clarify one thing:

“It’s not about the plant, it’s about the relationship we have with it”

As with anything, it’s not the plant/medicine/substance that is the issue… it is the RELATIONSHIP with it that matters.

So we need to see that cannabis isn’t the enemy, but it’s our RELATIONSHIP with it, that any conflict or difficulty comes from…

I Need To Take An Honest Look At Myself…

Before I decided that this is why I quit smoking cannabis, I realized something first…

There was this recurring pattern in my life:

No matter how long of a “break” I took from cannabis, something would trigger me, and I would start smoking again. Then I would smoke more… until it was daily. Often smoking from the morning until night.

I would find myself with lower energy, and a lower desire to do the things that were important to me. Like workout or meditate for example.

“But It Improved My Life!”

I had this ongoing theme with cannabis, thinking that it would improve my life, or make me more creative or focused, which is why I would come back to it whenever I did…

But when I really look at myself…

I would see that the overall net effect on my life was more negative or detrimental, than it would be positive.

Cannabis and Co-Dependency

One of the things that I realized the most, that really made me look at my relationship with cannabis…

Was seeing how whenever I would smoke, I would always want to smoke more.

There was never a middle-ground for me.

It’s like with cannabis, I had absolutely 0 capacity for moderation.

So, whenever I would smoke, even if it was just once, it was like clockwork:

The next day, I would have cravings, and want to smoke again.

Until I did, and the cycle repeated itself.

Now, I had to know more…

My Personal Experiment

In seeing this pattern, I then asked myself:

“I wonder if I could have a healthy relationship with cannabis?”

So I played around with testing different “rules” I would make for myself, to help me have a better relationship with cannabis.

I found it hard to completely stop smoking cannabis, especially when it is was such a big part of our culture…

And honestly, I didn’t want to give it up.

So I played around with seeing what would work for me…

“The 4:20 Rule”

Which is simple. I wouldn’t smoke until past 4:20pm.

Because if I smoke too early, I smoke throughout the day… and end up feeling really lethargic and tired by the end of the night.

And I find the contrast of time when I’m smoking and not-smoking makes my experience with the medicine always so much more insightful and opening for me.

Otherwise, if I’m constantly smoking, the deep expansion of awareness just diminishes… until all that’s left is a feeling of heaviness. Do you know what I mean?

And…

“The 3 Day Rule”

Which would mean I would smoke only once every 3 days…

That would mean two full days before smoking. (3 sleeps)

In order to really emphasize the contrast of perspective that I just spoke about.

And also…

“The Once-a-Day Rule”

This one was honestly one of my favorites.

I would take time in the morning to set my intentions for smoking, honor it and meditate with it, and then only smoke once that day…

But To No Avail…

After years of testing out if I can have a “healthy” relationship with cannabis…

I have come to the conclusion:

I can’t.

I honestly don’t know what it is.

Karma.

Past lives.

Whatever it is, there is this deep energetic tie that I have with this plant…

And whenever I smoke, I can’t help but want to smoke more.

WILL POWER

This is one of the most powerful, rare, and LIMITED energies we have.

Imagine it this way –

You only get 10 points of “Will Power” every day.

How will you spend those points?

Once they’re spent, they’re spent.

To me, no matter what rules I set out for myself, I COULD follow them…

But it would take a lot of my will power.

And I realized, I would MUCH rather use my will power to CREATE amazing new habits, or powerful things in the world, rather than pushing away a desire to smoke cannabis…

Agitation and Irritability

Another huge factor for me, and why I stopped smoking cannabis…

Was because I noticed something else about myself…

Whenever I would smoke every day, for whatever length of time…

When I would “come off” of smoking cannabis, I would be incredible irritable and agitable.

I would be very easily triggered.

Things would bother me way more than they normally would.

I would find it really hard to let go of being upset.

And I would find that I wouldn’t treat everybody with love and kindness…

Yeah, it’s hard to say and admit, but this is what taking an honest look at myself has truly shown me…

Another Negative…

From lowered concentration, to cravings, to agitation, and even needing more sleep…

I found another big reason that made me want to stop smoking cannabis.

I call it “Instant Gratification Mode”.

When I smoke cannabis, I’ve found that all I really care about is what I want in that moment.

Rather than thinking long term, or what really supports me in the big picture, I just care about what I want instantly.

That’s led me to spend more money, eat unhealthy, and just “consume”…

“All We Are Is a Compilation of Our Addictions”

One of my mentors shared this with me, many years ago…

And it’s so true.

We are addicted to so many things…

Not that it’s a bad thing, because it’s true.

But let’s create HEALTHY addictions.

Like addictions to working out, eating healthy, uplifting others, or spreading joy…

Personally, I believe the Spirit of Cannabis, and the root energy of this plant is extremely powerful, and can teach us so much…

This is why we are drawn to it in the first place…

But if we don’t come to this medicine with a positive intention for ourselves, it can very easily take us off of our center…

I believe that Man has tainted the pure essence of cannabis.

As it has been used hugely to generate money, profits, and to feed the deep-seeded greed of man.

Personally, if I am to come back to cannabis, I want to plant my own seeds (which I would germinate with my own saliva) and grow my own plant with love, care and attention… asking for it to heal me, and give me what will serve me in my highest, for the greatest good of all…

This I feel is an important step for me in my journey with this plant, and what I feel could really be a huge turning point for helping me have a healthy relationship with cannabis…

Why I Quit Smoking Cannabis

I’m writing this for anybody who wants to quit smoking cannabis, as I��m sure by sharing my journey letting go of this plant, that it will help many of you who are also struggling with letting go…

First, let’s give some background story:

My Personal Journey

I started smoking when I was 15, and from the age of 16 – 19, I was smoking a LOT.

I used cannabis to help me with bodybuilding (gaining weight), and learning online marketing, which is what these years of my life were dedicated to.

Since that period, I have had a relationship with it, on and off, where I would smoke every day for periods of time (weeks to months) and then take a break…

But the cycle would continue, and I would find myself smoking cannabis unconsciously and excessively (in my opinion), and ultimately seeing that it was taking away from my life…

It’s Not About Cannabis

Before we dive deeper, let’s clarify one thing:

“It’s not about the plant, it’s about the relationship we have with it”

As with anything, it’s not the plant/medicine/substance that is the issue… it is the RELATIONSHIP with it that matters.

So we need to see that cannabis isn’t the enemy, but it’s our RELATIONSHIP with it, that any conflict or difficulty comes from…

I Need To Take An Honest Look At Myself…

Before I decided that this is why I quit smoking cannabis, I realized something first…

There was this recurring pattern in my life:

I would find myself with lower energy, and a lower desire to do the things that were important to me. Like workout or meditate for example.

“But It Improved My Life!”

I had this ongoing theme with cannabis, thinking that it would improve my life, or make me more creative or focused, which is why I would come back to it whenever I did…

But when I really look at myself…

I would see that the overall net effect on my life was more negative or detrimental, than it would be positive.

Cannabis and Co-Dependency

One of the things that I realized the most, that really made me look at my relationship with cannabis…

Was seeing how whenever I would smoke, I would always want to smoke more.

There was never a middle-ground for me.

It’s like with cannabis, I had absolutely 0 capacity for moderation.

So, whenever I would smoke, even if it was just once, it was like clockwork:

The next day, I would have cravings, and want to smoke again.

Until I did, and the cycle repeated itself.

Now, I had to know more…

My Personal Experiment

In seeing this pattern, I then asked myself:

“I wonder if I could have a healthy relationship with cannabis?”

So I played around with testing different “rules” I would make for myself, to help me have a better relationship with cannabis.

I found it hard to completely stop smoking cannabis, especially when it is was such a big part of our culture…

And honestly, I didn’t want to give it up.

So I played around with seeing what would work for me…

“The 4:20 Rule”

Which is simple. I wouldn’t smoke until past 4:20pm.

Because if I smoke too early, I smoke throughout the day… and end up feeling really lethargic and tired by the end of the night.

And I find the contrast of time when I’m smoking and not-smoking makes my experience with the medicine always so much more insightful and opening for me.

Otherwise, if I’m constantly smoking, the deep expansion of awareness just diminishes… until all that’s left is a feeling of heaviness. Do you know what I mean?

And…
