FINALLY SOMEONE BRINGS UP HANAHAKI WITH YANDERES, THEY'RE SUCH A GOOD COMBO THAT I NEVER SEE!

The best part of Hanahaki is just how many different variations there are to it imo.

For example for it to form does one have to actually get rejected? Or does assuming you will be, or them actually just not liking you work too?(imagine finding out your crush doesn't return your feeling by getting Hanahaki, quite literally the worst way to find out)

Is it fatal or just stay till you move on or they reciprocate? Does the surgery exist and if so what are the after effects if any(usually loss of feeling and/or memory of crush, or feelings as a whole)? Would the disease scar/ruin your lungs?

An idea I've had for Hanahaki is someone having to go back repeatedly for the same surgery because they either keep falling for or never fall out of love. Meanwhile their lungs just keep getting worse from their constant surgeries and the plants....

NO SHUT UP BECAUSE THE MOST PAINFUL HANAHAKI TROPES ARE "you can have surgery to cure it but you'll forget all your memories of the person you love" OR "you're dying BECAUSE they don't return your feelings and there's no way to save you even if you confess you're just dying knowing they don't love you back" and now that I think about it it was specifically the ultra sad fics that kind of drove me away from the trope, but.... it has its uses....

A yandere begging you to have the surgery to forget about how much you love them so you can live, and you'd rather die than forget all the time you've spent with them, what they mean to you, especially if they're your only friend or someone you've had all your life. Your yandere knocking you out and having you operated on against your consent, taking your love away, so you can live, even if it breaks their own heart, crying as they know you LOVED them but, soon won't even remember their name...

A yandere who, very happily actually, forces you to have the forgetting surgery because it's SOMEONE ELSE you love, not them, and once that person is out of the picture, well, your savior has a greater chance at truly wooing you, don't they?

A yandere who develops hanahaki and HAS to have the surgery to live, they can't protect you if they're dead, but they circumvent the amnesia by recording tons of videos first, talking all about you, about your times together, their memories of you, how much they love you, which things, why, and once they've forgotten you, they watch those tapes and their passion is ignited all over again

Honestly just the potential like... plot and obsessive potential from the yandere from you almost dying. Like. What obsessed manic possessive lover wouldn't absolutely dial up their behavior and devotion after almost losing you? What kind of self proclaimed hero wouldn't bend over backwards to cater to your every need when they see you so weak and wheezing and needing medicines and special care and maybe even mobility aids now? Can you imagine something horrible like, the hanahaki damaging your lungs to the point you temporarily or permanantly get winded with prolonged exercise and need a wheelchair for longer walks? Or it weakens your body so much you develop allergies or autoimmune issues?

There's just so much GUILT POTENTIAL too. Here's your stalker thinking they knew every little nook and cranny of your mind, obsessively collecting every last detail of your life, and they didn't know you loved them? Loved them so much you got sick for them? AND you were so scared and assured they would reject you, they wouldnt love you, the thought of which hurt you so much, you would rather die than hear them turn you away? Certain yanderes would CRY, they're like, begging for forgiveness at their secret closet altar of you, saying they WRONGED YOU, they PROMISE THEY'RE DEVOTED TO YOU, they'll spend the rest of their life proving it with every ounce of their heart, PLEASE let them prove it--

Of course I also can't help but think. You confess to cure your hanahaki and your yandere accepts you, but then once you're in their house and getting to REALLY know them, you're INSTANTLY "um actually this is. Gross. I'm not attracted to you at all anymore and actually now our entire friendship all these years feels fucking tainted and creepy because I was looking at you with love and you were like. Taking photos of me sleeping and stealing bristles from my toothbrush the entire time"

Finally, because we are so dramatic. We've discussed fandoms on here before where the series can delve into multiverse shit like Spiderverse or Justice League stuff. Imagine a version of your yandere from another universe coming after you because they watched their version of you wither up and die from refusing to confess but the yandere found out their feelings afterwards anyways and it drove them to their breaking point 💀like maybe your universe's version of this person is actually totally normal for you, but, in the acts of defeating this new threat, they realize how easy it would be for someone to hurt you, TAKE YOU AWAY, and one day after the battle to defeat the doppelganger is over, you're looking over at your friend and smiling, and they wait for you to turn your back until *cough* a few little petals fall to the floor....

A/N: Here ya go! Have some extremely self-indulgent writing here. I’ve been having a really hard time health-wise lately and it’s been making my depression worse, so I feel ya. Depression sucks y’all.

Astarion:

Listen up honey, baby boy could've written the book on depression, okay?

He’s extremely understanding, especially if your depression manifests as anger or irritability. The gods know how angry he can get thinking about how he was abused and subjected to Cazador’s torture for so long.

Astarion knows depression is more than a feeling of sadness- it’s a raging storm of emotions and behaviors that comes from a brain working in overdrive to survive.

He’ll do little things for you, like leaving you a bouquet of freshly picked flowers or a vial of a new perfume for you to try; just a lot of simple things to remind you how he cares about you, even if you don’t always feel like caring for yourself.

He will help you bathe and/or dress on days those tasks feel overwhelming. He especially loves it when you agree to dress in something a little more fancy. He enjoys getting to shower you with extra compliments as well as seeing the cute half-smiles you give when one of said compliments finally reaches you.

If you’re self-harming, he will take it upon himself to steal any and all pointy things from your tent. Nope, you don’t need them, so hand them over, please. He gets why you feel an urge to do such things, but he asks you to please not to. He suggests letting him feed on you if you absolutely must scratch that itch, so to speak. That way, he can sort of supervise it, and ensure you’re properly cared for after. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s a benefit for him. He thanks you profusely, hoping that one day you’ll stop seeing the act as a punishment and instead see it as an intimate gift, because to him, that’s what you are: a gift.

You are the most important person in his life. Your blood, your joy, your life, your everything is worth more than anyone in the world has to offer. Astarion doesn’t want you to think for a second that it’s something you should throw away, or feel the world would be better off without.

He knows it’s hard. Gods, does he know. And if you had asked him months ago if life were worth living, he might have said ‘no’. But now, he’s met you. And since he’s met you, he’s started seeing the wonder in things again. The beauty.

You are Astarion’s sunshine, his reason to keep going. Please, he asks, let him be your reason. Let him carry your weight when you are unable. Darling, he would steal the moon for you if you let him… don't you ever doubt that.

Gale:

Gale has also experienced depression. After being discarded by Mystra, and then cursed with the orb, he thought life wasn’t worth living anymore. He locked himself away in his tower in Water Deep, refusing to speak to anyone but his tressym, Tara.

He’s understanding when you confess how you feel but ultimately hurt as if your pain were also his own. He cares for you so much. And he thinks it’s such a shame someone so wonderful and bright feels as awful as you do. It’s unfair. And he wishes so much to change it, even though he knows he alone cannot.

He will do his best to look after you though. He’ll encourage you to reach into The Weave with him, to feel the force of magic flow through your veins. It invigorates him and grounds him at the same time. He hopes it does similarly for you.

Gale knows depression makes it feel like caring for yourself is a losing battle, one you simply cannot win, so why bother trying? Which is why he takes it upon himself to do the more basic ‘battles’ for you. He’ll cook and clean, and make sure you’re getting plenty of fluids and rest. It’s not up for debate. He’ll even sic Tara on you if he has to. You will do what’s necessary to heal. He can’t stand seeing you in pain. He just wants you to feel better, and as soon as possible.

If you’re self-harming, he’s saddened and confused. He doesn’t quite understand that it’s not reflective of a deficit on his part. He wonders why his love isn’t enough for you to understand how precious you are. You’ll have to explain to him, how even though you know he loves you, your brain doesn’t let the feeling of being loved in. You explain how you hurt so much on the inside… sometimes it’s just easier to hurt on the outside too.

Once he understands though, he does his best to not take your feelings or self-harming personally. He wants you to be stable on your terms, not only stable with him at your side. Gale knows firsthand that overreliance on a partner often leads to heartbreak further down the road. He’ll just have to become confident enough in your relationship to give you the space you need.

He’ll use healing magic to cover and fix any self-harm cuts or scars. As well as spells to help you sleep at night if you suffer from insomnia. Just say the word, and he’ll find the spell that eases your particular discomforts. Or ask for a simple night of cuddles under the stars. He’s more than happy to provide that too.

Gale loves you, quite possibly more than words could ever hope to convey. Your happiness, in some ways, is an additional extension of his own. He will do everything in his power to make you smile. Just seeing you happy is more than enough for him.

Wyll:

Wyll is a tragic hero in every sense of the word. He knows the lows of depression well.

He sacrificed his freedom to save Baldur’s Gate, and in return, he was disowned by his father, and forced into exile, all while having to serve a demon. He’s spent years mentally beating himself up for that sacrifice, and mentally chiding himself for ever having agreed to Mizora’s deal in the first place. On more than one occasion, he’s found himself wishing he could go back in time and choose differently. It’s an awful feeling to get stuck in, and he wants more than anything, for you to be free of such imprisoning feelings.

He’ll constantly remind you of all of your accomplishments: even the littlest ones- like if you’ve made your bed roll, or if you ate that day, or if you went for a walk, or made a successful conversation with a stranger.

He keeps track of your milestones but also keeps an eye out for any warning signs. He knows you are your own person and that he cannot stop you from doing something, not forever anyway. But he asks that you come to him instead of doing things that put yourself at risk. Please. The two of you can talk it out, or maybe he can show you a few moves with a sword to get that frustration and manic energy out. Whatever you wish, even if it’s just spending quiet time together, he’ll do it, if it means you don’t end up harming yourself.

He’s extra protective of you, especially whenever devils like Mizora or Raphael show up. He knows such creatures prey on vulnerability, and he’ll be damned before they ever take advantage of you. If any devil so much as even brings up the whispers of horrible things you think about yourself, he will dispatch them, immediately. He won’t hesitate for a second. How dare such vile creatures speak to you, an incredible and kind person, in such a way? He won’t stand for it.

He also tries to cheer you up and remind you how much you’re loved using the occasional grand romantic gesture. What can he say? He’s an old-fashioned romantic at heart. A candlelight dinner, a nice night by the fire in a private room at an inn… or even an evening of dancing under the stars; no gesture is too grand or too extravagant for the love of his life.

You are beyond special to him. You are his future. In a way, he sees you as a gift from the Gods, proof that in the end, good deeds do pay out. Can’t you see? You’re his cherished partner. Wyll would do it all over again, exactly the same, even his deal with Mizora, so long as he ends up with you at his side.

You brought a sense of family, pride, security, and love back into Wyll’s life. Let him do what he can to bring that back into yours.

Karlach:

Karlach may be a golden retriever in tiefling form, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know what it means to be sad. She was betrayed by Gortash, her mentor, and sold to Zariel who quite literally ripped Karlach’s heart out of her chest. There was a time when she didn’t think her heart would ever beat again, now that her physical one was taken. But she did what she had to, and she found a purpose amidst her betrayal using the skills she had to bide her time until she could escape.

For Karlach, she’s no longer in a depressive state. She’s overjoyed at the amount of freedom she’s gained- at the feel of fresh air and actual sunshine on her face. She’s so in love with life. She forgot what it was to live joyfully, and now that she’s remembered, she doesn’t ever want it to stop.

She knows you don’t feel up for it, she gets it. But she won’t stop dragging you to events and new places. She knows it takes time for someone to go through an episode, or episodes, of feeling like shit. She’ll gladly wait them out with you. But she won’t let you take those episodes lying down. She’s going to do what she can to put some joy into your life, whether you want it or not.

Karlach will constantly remind you of how lucky she is to have you. She tells you rather bluntly that she adores you, no characteristic or quirk is safe from her myriad of compliments and gushing. She also makes a point to talk you up to the others, especially after you’ve been self-deprecating lately. She makes it clear just how incredible you are. Everyone should know, especially you.

She will physically restrain you before she lets you self-harm. Although she has to be careful not to burn you accidentally herself, she much prefers holding you through a bout as opposed to asking you to stop and simply hoping for the best. She cares so much for you, she couldn’t chance it. The thought of you hurting yourself when she’s right next door is too much, she couldn't bear it. She’d feel awful like she failed you in some way.

She reminds you how much you do for everyone else, even when you don’t realize it. How you play with Scratch and the Owlbear Cub. How you help Gale find magical objects. Or how you always point out any flowers or plant life within Baldur’s Gate to Halsin to remind him of home. Karlach knows you think of everyone- you’re always putting them first. She wants you to know it’s okay if you have to pull back to put yourself first, to take care of your mental and physical health. It’s not selfish, it’s not rude. You’re doing what you need to do in order to survive. Who amongst you can’t say the same?

She ropes everyone in when it comes to looking after you. They all better be nice or they can answer to her and her big smoldering muscles. And speaking of big flaming muscles…

She knows she can’t beat the depression for you, but Karlach’ll be damned if you think you gotta go it alone. Even when you don’t feel up for it, Karlach will be right there, fighting by your side.

La’zel:

La’zel is not familiar with the idea of depression. Githyanki come from a society where any weakness, physical or mental, is frowned upon. It is considered a personal failure to let yourself fall victim to your emotions. As a result, La’zel is often unaware of how she feels about things.

La’zel may not be the affectionate partner, but she knows enough about herself to understand she likes you and admires you greatly. This makes your illness all the more confusing to her. She doesn’t understand how someone like you, someone she views as strong and capable could be all that sad on the inside. Perhaps you are mistaken? La’zel reminds you of how impressive she finds you, assuming that will be enough to snap you out of it. (It isn’t, of course.)

You’ll have to sit her down and explain what depression is; how it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with how capable someone is. It’s something that happens when the brain doesn’t work quite right, you can’t get the perspective everyone else has. La’zel asks if this is related to the parasite. In which case, it’s just another reason to defeat the Absolute. Once you make it clear, it has nothing to do with the parasite, she seems to accept the idea with less hostility.

La’zel recognizes this ‘depression’ as an opponent of yours. And of course, as your partner, she insists on working to defeat it with you. She’ll ask you to join her in her workouts, insisting that you spar with her only to secretly go easy on you, and let you win. She wants that boost to your ego to remind you just how proficient you are. To her, a victory is one of the highest compliments, and she wants you to feel complimented.

You are her partner, her zhak vo'n'fynh duj, her source of joy. She thinks the world of you. Even though she is not familiar with your culture or customs, she makes more of an effort to understand them, in hopes they will reveal secret knowledge about this ‘depression’ to her. She wants to know everything there is to know about this enemy. The more knowledge she has, the better she feels equipped to aid you in the fight.

If you’re self-harming, she may not notice right away. However, her suspicions arise when you are ashamed of what she assumed were battle scars. La’zel will not hesitate to pin you down if she catches you hurting yourself and holding you close until the urges have passed. She won’t take away any of your weaponry- she knows how important it is. But she will keep a close watch, and invite you away from your tent and your tools when she senses the urge to self-harm within you is great.

Githyanki do not beg. They are a strong, proud species. So it’s of the utmost shock when La’zel gets on her knees before you, taking one of your hands in between hers. She confesses how much she cares for you. And begs you, to please, please, continue to fight the good fight for her. You are her anchor to this world, to a life beyond orders and discipline, you’ve opened up her world to joy and acceptance. Please don’t leave her alone in it. She may be a proficient fighter, but her heart just couldn’t bear that.

Shadowheart:

Shadowheart may not remember much of her past before Shar, but she does know one thing for certain, and that’s how she feels for you. In the past, she’s found herself overcome by feelings of sadness and anger, so she’s no stranger to having to live with such unpleasant emotions. She’s also no stranger to living with chronic pain, her hand always existing as a constant reminder of what Shar took from her. And despite happy reminders and the sun always shining the next day, Shadowheart knows there is nothing that can change that. Until Shar grows bored, living with pain is something she will be forced to endure.

Having to live with that pain has made Shadowheart incredibly understanding when it comes to the ups and downs of your mood swings caused by depression. She knows the feeling of ‘it's not fair!’ all too well, and will never chastise you or shush you for bringing it up. It isn’t fair how some people go through like okay and other people have suffering planted inside them. It’s life, but it’s not fair, and you don’t have to pretend it is.

Shadowheart will always offer to help you with changing out of your clothes/armor into more suitable night attire. She has a routine every night that helps her decompress, and she’d love to share it with you.

On the days you feel nothing matters, like you can’t even get out of bed, don’t worry, she’ll be right there, outside of your tent, asking if there’s anything she can fetch you if there’s anything you need. And if you have no use for any physical items or healing spells, she’s more than happy to just sit with you, silently reading a book as you lay on your bedroll. It’s comforting, and reassuring, that you don’t have to say or do anything to be able to enjoy each other’s presence. It takes some pressure off of having a relationship.

If she ever finds you’ve been self-harming, Shadowheart will feel angry. Then hurt. Then disappointed. Then hurt again. She wishes you wouldn’t but at the same time, she understands why you would do something like that. A part of her might feel angry that here she is, forced to live with the pain she didn’t ask for, while you go around giving yourself pain necessarily, but given time, she’ll learn to compartmentalize that train of thought. Your self-harming isn’t about her, she knows that.

She will of course, always heal your wounds, unless you persistently ask her not to. In which case, she might relent, but she still insists on checking them to see how they’re healing naturally and at the first sign of infection or spreading, she will use her healing spells as a cleric to deal with them- no ifs ands or butts.

Shadowheart just wants to be able to make up for lost time with you. She wants a life with you beyond the horrors and the trials of the Absolute, beyond the misery of Shar. She wants the two of you happily living in a modest home, maybe somewhere with animals nearby. She wants you and her parents to get along. She wants your friends to visit often. But most of all, she wants you to be at peace, to be content with the life in front of you. It may take some time, but she swears one day, the two of you will get there. You may never be overly happy, but you will have found tenderness in each other.

Halsin:

Halsin is such a sweetheart, but despite his calm demeanor, he has more than his fair share of demons lurking just beneath the surface. Halsin’s lived a long life. He knows what it feels like to get stuck in a rut, and he knows the hopelessness that often comes with fighting an uphill battle. The Shadow Curse was once just a whispered threat before it grew concrete enough to take up much of Halsin’s life. Forced to always take care of others, and forced to put the greater good before himself, Halsin is no stranger to the slow silent depressive undercurrent that often wades into the stream of your life. Unfortunately, as an archdruid and leader of Emerald Grove, Halsin has had to endure such melancholy alone. As such, he wishes you never feel you have to shoulder your burdens alone.

There is a chance, thanks to the degree of his focus and admiration, that you won’t need to tell him of your feelings, that he will sense them before you do. Halsin won’t pry incessantly, but he does make it known that feeling low is nothing to be ashamed of and that he is always willing to lend an ear.

On the days you can not take care of yourself, Halsin won’t complain in the slightest. He’ll simply aid you in doing whatever needs to be done. He’ll carry you to the river to bathe just as he carries you to the table to eat. He’s so gentle with you, his large hands treat you as if you were made of glass as if he’s almost afraid to touch you.

And don’t worry about any emotional outbursts you might have, be it crying or yelling, or a quick succession of both, Halsin does his best not to take it personally. There is very little you could do or say, aside from causing great harm to another living thing, that he would not understand and forgive.

If you self-harm, he doesn’t react with anger. He does his best to look neutral although he is heartbroken on the inside. He sees you as his salvation, and to see his salvation do such a thing pains him so.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, or get frequent aches, he’ll use healing spells or old-fashioned massages to alleviate some of your pain. He’s quite fond of anything that lets him touch you as he cares for you, be it massages, bathing, braiding your hair, or simply holding you close as you sleep atop his broad chest.

If it’s too much, Halsin will understand your desire for space, and grant you it, he won’t force it on you. But for Halsin, that touch is a reminder you’re still here, that he hasn’t lost you yet, just as he has lost everyone he has ever loved previously.

He always encourages you in your self-care, be it eating or sleeping. He will offer gentle reminders throughout the day, and bring you food should he notice you haven't eaten in a while. If he could physically take on your burdens for you, he would. If it meant your happiness, Halsin would gladly suffer.

You showed him what it meant to live again. You rescued him from his depressive enemy- from the loneliness of the Shadow Curse. He sees it as his duty to do all he can to rescue you from yours.

Halsin knows he cannot ‘save you’ from your feelings. But that doesn’t mean he’ll ever stop trying. He cares so deeply for you. Trust that even though his heart may wander, he will always find his way back to you. No one else, not even your depression is enough to keep him away.

Minthara:

Minthara lives in a state of suspended fear, hidden deep down inside. The Underdark is a cutthroat place, full of betrayal and uprising. There is no such thing as ‘love’ or ‘friendship’- only strength and temporary alliances. But then again, that was before she was infected with the parasite, that was before she met you.

Now that’s grown close to you, now that she realizes the strengths of sharing vulnerability with the one you love, she refuses to live without it. You are her first true love. She will not settle for less. And she refuses to go through the rest of her life without you, readily at her side.

She may not be the kindest when it comes to questioning why you haven't been as eager as usual. But once you explain your situation, Minthara comes to regard your condition with respectful contemplation. She tries to put herself in your shoes, so to speak, before making any future remarks. It is not easy for her, but she does her best. You will have to remind her often and explain each symptom of your depression separately.

Minthara discovers through your openness, that she has had such symptoms as well. The only difference between her and you is that she was taught to swallow such feelings, to never let them surface. It makes her all the more tender in the way she interacts with you. And she asks for your continued tenderness in return.

The two of you can express your darkest thoughts, and ruminations much more freely because of that. You know Minthara will not hold those thoughts against you, just as you will not hold hers against her.

If she finds you’ve been self-harming, she asks to watch the next time. It might strike you as an odd request, but it helps twofold: 1) It reminds you you’re not alone at such a time of deep pain, and 2) It makes you feel self-conscious, bringing you out of that self-harm spiral. It’s much harder to keep your blinders on when the person you love most is sitting right next to you. It empowers you to push such urges away, and instead spend time in the presence of the one you love, knowing she doesn’t think any less of you, and that you don’t have to hide any component of your suffering.

Minthara may be cold to others, and she is not one to languish in her depressed feelings, but she will tolerate sitting with you in yours. If having instances of momentary vulnerability will help you heal and make you stronger in the long run, Minthara is more than willing to ride those instances out with you.

ETERNAL LOVE: hidden love brother's story, modern, kinda like frenemies to roomates to lovers?, i don't remember much fem lead and male lead are classmates in high school who used to not be fond of each other and later as adults things happen and he becomes her roommate because his apartment is like undergoing renovations or something? there's some misunderstandings and miscommunications but it's a really good read though the art is changed in this from hidden love. ongoing.

BRIDE OF HABAEK: fantasy, god falls for human sacrifice au??? do not remember much i read it long back but like the fem lead is offered as bride sacrifice to the water god and thrown into some well or something and when she wakes up she's in his realm and he's like a child? he also has his adult form but around her he's in child form and she does come across him in adult form but does not know it's him. i don't remember more details but it's slow burnnnn and interesting pretty different from the kdrama. ongoing or completed? no idea but there's a hella lot of chapters and it's black and white.

I like to imagine the both of them already liking each other since their younger age. Especially Shachi. Shachi who had been protected during his childhood by Penguin decided to become stronger for him. Because of INK, my favorite artist, that drew a lot of ShachiPen, I have their version of ShachiPen stuck in my head. And it also became my headcanon. Shachi became a lot stronger than Penguin and it is now his turn to protect him. Hehehe. After Savaody I like to imagine that something bad happened to one of them. RE2 Leon Kennedy SFW Alphabet (A-M)

A/N: Just something I'm trying once again. Somewhat similar to what I did a few months back with the Genshin character hcs.

Warnings: None really, other than mentions of drinking in E.

Enjoy!

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

I'd say he's affectionate to a moderate degree. Not completely devoid of it, but also not totally clingy. I think he's a bit awkward, y'know? He'd definitely show affection by comforting or helping others when they're upset or stressed (or hurt), It's just in his nature.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

He'd be a pretty chill best friend. Very typical "childhood guy best friend" vibe about him. The friendship might start before Raccoon City, most likely when you two were younger.

Though, if you were there to survive the incident with him, I think there would be a possibility of the relationship becoming something even more than best friends...

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Kinda tying into the affection one, he wouldn't really cuddle much if he didn't know you too well, but if he happened to be more comfortable with you, he'd be more than happy to cuddle with you if you asked him to.

He'd be pretty gentle with cuddling. Maybe in the form of casually slinging an arm around you while you two watch a movie, or laying in your lap while you play with his hair (I think he'd especially like that tbh)

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Before Raccoon City happened, I think he envisioned eventually getting married to someone and having a kid or two. Now, he's not so sure he'd be ready for something like that after all that he went through.

As for cooking, I think coming from an Italian family, he'd be a really good cook. I can imagine a recipe or two may have been passed down to him before the death of his parents.

Cleaning on the other hand....oh boy. Honestly, I don't think he'd be a total slob, but I think he'd procrastinate on tidying up more than a few times...

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

I think he would avoid being the one to do it. The last thing he wants to do is hurt you in some way, so unless he was certain you two were on the same page about it, he wouldn't want to break things off right away.

On a separate note, I don't think he handles being broken up with the greatest either (ie: coping by getting drunk and almost missing your first day of work *ahem, ahem*)

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

He's very loyal so I think he'd have no particular problems about commitment if and when the time comes. However, he's only 21 and recently survived a zombie apocalypse, so I don't think getting married is the first thing on his mind at the moment.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

He's a pretty gentle guy physically, but since joining the force, had developed thick skin when it comes to more dire or serious situations.

It takes quite a bit to get him emotional, though I feel like even in the years following the incident, he'd cry most often in private to avoid showing vulnerability around others.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

He likes hugs but doesn't receive them often. He does, however give others hugs if they need them.

His hugs are very soft. He's got strong arms from training at the police academy, but he knows not to squeeze the life out of you lol.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

He’d say it early on, but not too early. I feel like “I love you” would be something he’d first confess in the heat of the moment, though he’d also accidentally (and awkwardly) make implications that he likes you pre-relationship.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

For jealousy, I think he wouldn’t seem like the type of guy to get jealous, but you’d be wrong on that.

It’s another one of those things that builds up on the inside for him. He’d make subtle but snarky comments and facial expressions related to whatever he’s jealous about. Though, if you confront him about it, he’ll deny it.

“What? Jealous? I’m not jealous, what makes you think that?!”

“Leon, you’ve been pouting this whole time”

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

I think he'd be a gentle kisser. He would also have soft, almost feminine lips, though I think they'd get chapped a bit easily too.

He loves kissing you on your forehead and cheeks the most. I feel like his ex wasn't super affectionate with him, so he feels most special being peppered with kisses on his face and neck.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Despite being an only child and probably growing up mostly around other adults, I think he'd be pretty good with kids for the most part.

He would seem a bit inexperienced, but definitely tried his best to become more experienced during the time he took care of Sherry.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Definitely wakes up early, it's something he does out of pure habit from having to wake up at the crack of dawn at the police academy.

Has trouble sleeping in on days he doesn't have to wake up early, though if he had it his way, he would.

As for spending it with him, I feel like he's the type of guy to force himself to go for runs in the morning. I can imagine that you'd be inclined to join him on occasion.

The pain in your chest bubbles knowing that what you want may never be yours. You're lost in a fantasy world, or consumed by what you wish you were or had as opposed to what you do. It's hard to appreciate what's around you when you're appreciating the hope of what could be instead.

07. FATHER'S SON

Breathe down your own neck, it's the sound of smashing fist against furniture in another room again. The wringing hem of cloth and pattern of an escalating heart. Love is tumultous to you. There is grief and disguised forgiveness to damp down the yearning. A permanent fear of tender flesh spilling out, still- you must refrain of growing attached to the fear you had installed into you. Let go of the notion that love is still to be cherished with a hole in the head. Scrub crimson ancestry off wooden floors and try again tomorrow when your hands don't shake cold from the blood loss. Love isn't a fist to escape. Fill the hole in your head with cotton and know you are to be adored. You are deserving of an embrace without flinching.

(Eh, not so sold on this one for Hunter.)

atoning (for someone else)

You are sweet, sweet sorrow. Parting ways at an intersection, an angel's footsteps walking side by side with your own, the shadows of the past looming, looming. You are apologetic-moon-light and loiter-at-the-back-of-the-classroom and stilted-silence and rich-with-life. You are stepping-on-eggshells your way through life, be less careful. Be less careful. You make mistakes, you made mistakes, and you will make mistakes, but imagine growing from them without the wish to go back. Stop restricting yourself. Take a breath of the clean air. Stop breathing in your own secondhand smoke.

(I think this is kind of true. Before dying, Hunter was holding back a lot of themself. Although, now they're more murder-y. So, uh, Good for Them?)

03. CUPID'S BROTHER

You have been love adjacent all your life. The faint spill of another story that softly grazed your shoulders when stood too close. Whether by design or not, you have yet to build a clear image of what love means to you. The interlocked weaving of a picture locket bound to strand of hair when hugged to tight, the sunpatch that meets your soles in glaring sun dried fields when running with a friend. You are not far from love, but moving between line of collision and avoidance at all times. A faint glimmer on sea lake surface of what could be. There is time to find what you want, find whether it's enough as is. Love is in you, breathing in another day. Continue as you are, realizing the love that is slowly blossoming in your life as it sharpens and clears in brushstrokes.

(It takes Riley a while to realize they are in love. So yeah, this feels pretty on brand.)

You are sunshine. You are too bright for this world and you know too much for your experiences. You are not naive, but you are not a cynic. You are not an optimist, but you don't see the point in pessimism. You are bright bells of energy and great pealing laughter and coffee-shop-dates and meet-in-person-lunches and you draw people to you like a magnet with the way you shine. You are bright and drained, drained, drained. You are restless nights, heavy days, broken moons. You deserve a rest. You deserve to release. You cannot carry the weight of the world alone. Share the tasks, be the light, and create the connections.

06. CANíBALES; DEVOURER

Love's a knife to skin to you, a vein to woven muscle, blood puddle before you. You listened to all the promises of a stranger's relief and feel the drain of a shower head running it all down again. You committed another murder; kissed and bruised skin with a clench to a quivering wrist and went home in the defeaning quiet of a taxi. There's mold covered rage within you. If to take a heart home with you, you'd bite your way through muscle and ribcage first. Pleasure comes, but there will be no devouring past it. There is fear in settling down and being seen. There is a glass screen between these bodies and you. Relax your tight jaw and feel the real canine fear beneath that scabbed up cavity. The sacrifice of opening up is needed if to be loved as you deeply wish inside. Desire doesn't discriminate between hands or spoken word. Why should you?

SUMMARY -- you've been in love with your best friend for a while now. it takes almost losing him to confess your love. WARNINGS -- kind of angsty, literally tooth-rotting fluff, first kiss but kind of badly written because i don't know how to write them, explicit language AUTHORS NOTE -- first eddie fic babey!!!! dedicated to my fellow twisted sister (who somehow puts up with my chaos) @starbxcks

It had been Dustin to tell you what happened. You had already known all about the towns supposed curse, and you knew what happened to Chrissy Cunningham, but what you didn't know was that Eddie and the others were going to the Upside Down to stop Vecna.

In all honesty, you're pretty pissed that he didn't tell you before he went.

"Y/n." Steve stopped you before you entered the room they had put Eddie in to recover. He could see just how worried and angry you were, and he knew it could be detrimental to Eddie's recovery if he let you in like this.

"Don't try to fucking stop me, Harrington" you snarled. You were not in the mood for games, or talk to anyone that wasn't Eddie. But the anger came second place to the worry that threatened to completely destroy you. "Just let me go and see him. I need to see he's okay."

It was a thirty second stare down before Steve relented and moved his arm from blocking the door. He catches you by the wrist as you're about to walk through it, "just be prepared okay Y/n? It looks bad."

You thank him, taking a deep breath in and out before you walk in. Eddie's laying in bed, eyes closed with his wounds cared for. At first glance, you'd assume he was asleep but you knew him too well. "Oh Eds." You whisper, sitting on the chair next to his bed and carefully holding one of his hands.

"Hey, sunshine." Eddie whispered, gently squeezing your hand before he opened his eyes. He tries to smile, but you don't miss the wince as he does, nor can you stop yourself from crying. "Hey, it's okay. I'm okay. Just a little banged up, see."

With your spare hand, you wipe your tears away before smiling at him. "You idiot, moonlight." Your voice is thick, and you're in disbelief that he survived. Especially if the attack was as bad as Dustin described to you. "I thought I'd lost you. What Dustin had said. Please, just tell me before you decide to do anything like that again."

Eddie just about garners the energy to nod, and you can tell he's worn out, "Go to sleep. I'll still be here when you wake up, I promise."

It's five hours before Eddie wakes up again, you had dozed off in the chair. Head lolling backwards, mouth open with a tiny slither of drool at the side, but Eddie swears you're still the most beautiful girl in the world. "Hey, sleepyhead." He squeezes your hand again, hard enough to wake you but not hard enough to hurt you.

"You feeling a bit better now?" You ask, Eddie nodding earnestly in response. He looks better, you admit, less exhausted and more alert. It's the sleep, and the IV rehydrating him, which does it you suppose, but Eddie knows that it's your presence making him feel better. Not that he'll tell you anytime soon.

"They're saying they might discharge me soon. They want to do one more wound check, make sure there's no infection, and they want to administer more antibiotics but then I should be good to go." Eddie tells you, a hopeful smile on his face.

You know what that smile means, "good." You express your pure relief at the news, "I hope you don't mind me staying. Because I'm not leaving your side until you're recovered."

Eddie doesn't say it, but he doesn't mind at all. He'd do anything to keep you by his side forever.

It's a long one and a half weeks before the discharge papers are signed. Whilst he's being instructed on wound care, you pack up everything that the two of you had to keep you going during the stay. "Come on, let's go home." You sling the bag onto your shoulder, car keys in one hand and Eddie's hand in the other.

Part of you knows you should take him back to the trailer, but luckily for you, Wayne already knew Eddie would be staying with you for the foreseeable future. "This isn't the way to the trailer park?" Eddie reminds you, evidently confused as you drive in the wrong direction.

You don't say anything as you drive home. The surroundings became slightly more obvious to Eddie, and he doesn't miss the way your breath hitches slightly. It's another fifteen minutes before you reach home. Turning the engine off, you grab the bag from the back seat before helping the man beside you out the car.

"I thought you lived with your parents?" Eddie questions, as you take him on a general tour of the small one bedroom house. He knew he might have missed some things whilst he was hiding out, and then in the Upside down, but he also knew you'd have told him if something happened.

"They kicked me out. But aunt Marjorie left me this house in her will anyway, so I would have left sooner or later." You shrugged, kicking your shoes off before flopping backwards onto your bed. Eddie removes his shoes and joins you, letting out a sigh of relief to be laying on something other than an uncomfortable hospital bed.

Eddie hums in acknowledgement, before trying to conceal a very obvious yawn. The unspoken suggestion of a nap was thick and heavy in the air between you, but neither one of you were weirded out owing to the countless nap dates you'd had before.

Eddie's quick to shed his jacket, t-shirt and jeans before climbing into bed and you join him once you're in more cosy attire. Both exhausted from a weeks worth of lost sleep, you're out like a light in seconds.

"Y/n!"

It's the yell of your name which wakes you up thirty minutes later, and you're confused before you feel Eddie thrashing about. "Y/n. No please. Don't leave, Y/n! Wake up!" Eddie yells again, face screwed up in his nightmare state. Fear wraps its cold, clammy fingers around your heart, and you shake him in a desperate attempt to wake him up.

Eddie wakes with a start, eyes darting around the room until they settle on you. It's easy to see that he is so clearly afraid of something, and it hurts to see him like this. "I'm safe, moonlight." You soothe him, the two of you now sat up. Eddie's not shy about placing his hand on your fabric covered chest, feeling your heartbeat to convince himself.

"I thought Vecna had got to you and I was too late to save you. I can't bear the thought of ever losing you, it'd be like losing half of my heart." He admits, and you can see it now. Eddie's so in love with you.

You don't say much, just adjust yourself so that you can rest your forehead on his with ease. Eddie's in love with you, and you're in love with him. And even though it feels like the wrong time and place, you ask the question anyway. Because you nearly lost him, and it felt like losing half of your heart.

"Can I kiss you?"

But Eddie doesn't answer. Instead, he cups your face in his hands and you could have sworn your heart was beating so fast it felt like it would explode. Eddie's breath feels warm, and if you were living in a cartoon you're almost positive sparks would be shooting off the two of you. And then finally, not a moment too soon, Eddie's lips meet yours.

You had plenty of first kisses with boys over the years, but none had made you feel as safe and loved as this kiss.

I must confess to you, fellow WIZ*One l, that I was one of those who wished to see the group disbanded. It isn't because I didn't love them anymore. Rather, it really hurt me to see their well-earned efforts being invalidated by those haters. I believe they only want to make us happy and yet, I for one cannot even do ONE DAMN THING to shield them from trouble since I cannot even approach them.

It really hurt me to see them part ways but still, I'm happy now that they're being recognized in their respective careers.

I wish that someday, when everything's okay, they can do a comeback. WIZ*One out.

I understand your point of view.

People love to invalidate IZ*ONE, especially on social media. I don't bother much with haters because come on, it's useless, but because I love the girls, I felt angry whenever people said their success was just because of a survival show. And when people said that the members were untalented and were only popular because of their visuals, which is insanely untrue.

While IZ*ONE are all beautiful, they each have their own talents that contribute to the authenticity of the group:

Yena, Yujin, Chaeyeon, and Eunbi are the aces of the group, and;

there's Ssamyul with their insane vocals.

Wonyoung's iconic lines and power as a center alongside Minju and Sakura are what draw people into the group.

Hitomi and Nako are the most stable vocal-wise and brought their knowledge of dancing to their Japanese groups after dizbandment.

Hyewon brings a lot to the group with her strong variety show personality and soft vocals that carry IZ*ONE's harmonies.

IZ*ONE went through a lot, too. Due to the pandemic, WIZ*ONEs weren't able to physically be there for them. Hyekkura always got hated on because they had zero lines and because they're falsely untalented. I was glad that they got to show off their voices (Hyem's solo, and Sakura's rap in Ssera.) People were hating on the "rigged" members even though the court declared that the girls were victims in the situation, too. Some creeps were sexualizing Yujin and Wonyoung even when they were minors. The best we could do was be their fans and report the pedos, and we did what we could, so don't feel bad.

I think they were held back in IZ*ONE, although they were excellent as twelve, so seeing them shine on their own makes me both proud and nostalgic. They're being recognized more and more. Eunbi's being called the best post-IZ soloist with her amazing discography. Yena and Yuri got their first win and are venturing into comebacks. Chaeyeon's song KNOCK is charting well. Minju and Hyewon getting modeling and acting deals left and right. Nako's on the path to becoming an actress, too, and Hitomi's shining as AKB's center. Annyeongz and Ssamkkura are now more popular than ever in their new groups and get to be the unnies like they wanted. I'm beyond proud of them and will support them forever.

I can only wish for a reunion, but I'll also support them if they wish to continue on their own paths because I love the girls.

So, I understand what you're saying and can agree with some. Let's all support the girls forever.

More (really really long, I have a lot of pirate brain rot) ofmd s2 thoughts only I care about:

One thing that I thought was handled somewhat poorly thematically this season was Ed's relationship to Blackbeard, and in turn how that affects his relationship with Stede. There were many highlights and good parts, but the overall cohesiveness of arc building that occurred in s1 is lacking.

There's a lot of words under this cut, but there was a lot to analyze.

So, there seems to be tendency both in canon and amongst fans to treat Blackbeard as a separate entity from Ed. There isn't anything wrong with this necessarily. However, it begets a conflict in which these two halves need to become whole for the Ed/Blackbeard arc to come to a satisfying conclusion. Ed's most coherent internal arc is acceptance of his *whole* self, not rejection of Blackbeard in favor of Ed. It feels like the season tried to do this, but in ways that weren't completely satisfying and were outside of the measure of quality I'd hold the first season to.

First, Blackbeard and the Kraken often get conflated within the canon of the show. However, considering Ed as Blackbeard confesses to not killing anyone since he killed his father, it appears that the Kraken is a more dark and worse version of Blackbeard, one more motivated by personal hurt and inability to cope with emotional pain and trauma rather than just the general need for survival brought on by a life of piracy. This is why Ed is afraid of the Kraken, not Blackbeard necessarily, because it's his darkest tendencies and what he believes makes him worthless and unlovable.

Ed is *tired of* Blackbeard, but *afraid* of the Kraken. They're not the same. Their relation comes from the notion that Blackbeard *leads to* the Kraken, with very little control from Ed.

The Kraken presents an even deeper insecurity than when Ed as Blackbeard leaves Stede with Calico Jack, although it's also possible the two are related - Ed is always afraid of an eventual return of the Kraken and what that means for Stede's acceptance of him despite the reassurances he received in the bathtub conversation after the Fuckery. "You were always gonna find out what I am" - essentially, even though Ed confessed to Stede about the Kraken and Stede accepts this part of him, he is still afraid that it will come out again and he will be rejected.

So, when we see Ed struggling with feelings of being unlovable in the gravy basket after literally being suicidal upon fully unleashing the Kraken, his worst self and worst fear, this makes a lot of sense. This is why The Innkeeper is one of the most successful episodes of the season, although there may have been some missed opportunity to incorporate images of the Kraken in the depths while Merman!Stede saved him (the merperson scene was already incredibly moving and romantic, though, so no complaints). He unleashed the Kraken, and Stede came for him anyway.

While the following episode, Fun and Games, is fantastic as an episode overall and Annie and Mary are entertaining foils to Ed and Stede's seemingly ongoing conflicting interests, it feels out of place as a means of developing Ed and Stede in *this* part of their relationship. It gives foreshadowing to some of the issues they will be experiencing in the future and as part of this season and possibly next, but doesn't speak to the issues they're experiencing *now*. Their issues *now* relate to the abandonment that Ed experienced while Stede worked out his own self worth and identity issues by going back to his family. Unfortunately, in place of Stede actually attempting to explain himself, we largely get a semi-generic love confession from Stede here. It's fine, beautiful as a confession, and it's something Ed needs to hear after all that he's been through, especially with only a vision of Stede as a merman for comfort. However, it's a missed opportunity, which happens throughout the season, for Stede to actually clear up the miscommunication that occurred. The conversation about whims is less effective than a conversation about Stede feeling like *he* was the downfall of Blackbeard/Ed would have been. Ed needs to understand that Stede loves *all* of him, not just Ed. His worry that he ruined Blackbeard is *part of that*,because Stede more than anymore understands Blackbeard as an aspect of Ed.

Still, the episode ends with a strong moment of development for both Ed and the Stede/Ed relationship. To watch Stede leave him again, even if it's to secure him a place back on the ship, then watch Buttons successfully complete his transmogrification spell, followed immediately by Stede returning for him is hugely powerful. It is a fantastic mechanism to show change as a general concept to Ed and challenge the beliefs he's still clinging to, and then apply them directly to his relationship with Stede. He watches a man literally change into exactly who/what he wants to be, then watches the entire situation with Stede play out the way he would have liked the first time. The selection is "Seabird" as the song here only adds to that. Good choices abound.

The Curse of the Seafaring Life does a great presentation of what the romantic resolution to the Ed/Stede problem is, intentionally or not. The scene with Ed in his little cat collar trying to get Stede to *ahem* captain him reveals a lot of what makes their dynamic work. Ed has trauma from overbearing and abusive men in his life, and Stede's "people positive management style" is essentially just what the doctor ordered. However, Stede's conflict with that is his own confidence in himself and his skills, of which he still has basically none. This is why his completion of the successful Fuckery at the end of s1 is so profound. He IS able to learn these skills and become a pirate captain like he wants to. Ed first starts falling for Stede when he is assertive and capable on the party boat, and again as he wins the duel with Izzy, and even to some extent when he tells Calico Jack to leave. Stede both needs protection (while he obtains the skills and confidence he needs and dreams of having) and is capable of protecting (through his emotional intelligence, even if he failed with that in s1e9). Blackbeard/Ed helps Stede obtain these skills and confidence, while Stede helps Blackbeard/Ed feel valued for more than just his capacity for violence. Stede's struggle with his "captain voice" in this scene is played off for laughs, but it really does highlight that Stede is capable as a means to an end - the end being protecting his crew, protecting Ed, etc. even if he struggles with confidence day to day. Ed needs this as part of his resolution of self, which is part of why he needs and wants Stede.

So, in this episode we essentially see Ed revert back to "just Ed" again, similar to when he and Stede are at the naval academy and after he returns to the Revenge. It makes sense that this would occur, because Ed has been Blackbeard (and the Kraken, in this instance) so long he needs some time to be Ed and reconnect with that side of himself. Now that Stede is back, he feels capable and safe to do this. This also makes sense and is an essential part of the arc of his reconciliation between his two "selves".

Then we get to the recreation of the "you wear fine things well" setup from s1. This callback is a brilliant choice and another one of the strongest moments from the season. The waxing gibbous moon in the background, still large and hopeful but not the romanticized fantasy setting it was, Stede now completely clad in the crimson color matching the piece of silk Ed gave away when he committed to being his worst - it all works. Even the addition of Ed's cat bell, signaling his intention to kiss Stede here when he didn't before, works so well.

Where it breaks down is when Ed asks to take things slow. I know, I know. It's a very popular moment, and it would have worked if the show had more time. But as it is, within the confines of the external forces on the show, Ed doesn't have this time. If this were a show with the budget it deserved and the time it deserved, it would have been a perfect writing choice. Here, and in the context of the following episodes, it eventually falls short.

That's because in the next episode, we start to see glimpses of the Blackbeard/Stede dynamic that reflect their strengths, which makes the scene in which they DO get more intimate make sense, even if it contradicts the prior request for slowness. For Calypso's birthday, while I think the idea of paying for a party to counteract almost killing a bunch of the crew is pretty weak overall, it's acceptable within the confines of the show and the amount of time they had. This party planning plus the unwelcome visit from Ned Low shows the Ed/Stede dynamic in all of its glory. Stede helps Ed with managing people and social interactions. When Ned attacks, Ed physically protects Stede. Then together they endure their torture, with their fantastic banter and chemistry front and center the entire time. Stede appreciates Ed's toughness and defiance (a defining feature of Blackbeard) while Ed is protective of Stede when he's being harmed by Ned. This is Blackbeard coming out in Ed in a way that's positive. And even better, it fits with one of the themed lines from the episode - "turn poison into positivity". His expression of violence is to protect those he loves - Stede, in this case.

We then see Stede's protective nature come out - this is how he achieves being a "real pirate". It's through his desire to protect Ed - not even physically, but emotionally - that he commits his first murder as a pirate. This is significant, because it indicates that he CAN rise above his insecurities and deficiencies in skill when needed to protect Ed. And that's because *Ed needs protection* - there IS a soft side that needs to be able to turn over burdens to someone else. In order to successfully integrate Blackbeard into his idea of himself, to reconcile Blackbeard/Ed, he needs to not have to be Blackbeard all the time, even when things are dangerous. He needs an equal partner. Izzy couldn't have been this for him despite his considerable skill as a pirate because he lacks Stede's emotional intelligence. That's what sets this pairing apart.

This is why it would make sense for them to come together (pun intended) after this moment - and why Ed's insistence that they take it slow is a hindrance to their progression. Yes, he's just finding out who he is. Yes he's trying to reconcile two conflicting aspects of himself. But the person who is the right one for helping him do that is here with him now. They've BOTH been craving this moment since they were parted in season 1, and boy have the fans craved it too. It's a good addition. The scene itself is both rough and tender. Ed is nearly swept off his feet by the force of Stede's love for him and then they melt into eachother. Stede being in "control" of this encounter makes sense for them as well, and lends itself to Ed being able to let go of control in a comfortable environment - unload the mantle of being a captain for a while.

It even makes sense that we see Ed try to completely shed his Blackbeard persona after this experience. By sinking his leathers, he's trying to shed Blackbeard completely. This could and is a narrative ploy - it's a mistake! He WANTS to shed Blackbeard and thinks that this symbolic action is enough. It's not. The audience knows it, and Ed needs to figure it out as well. He has to figure out that this is not as helpful as he thinks it is.

What happens from there in Man on Fire is where some of this development and the overall writing quality continues to weaken. Ed sees Stede start to get recognition from his newfound pirate status, which begins to antagonize his own fears of remaining attached to Blackbeard. This works as a means to tease the internal conflict to the surface. However, some of where this breaks down is the inclusion of Ed's prior request to take things slow. Instead of this being a conflict about Ed's fears, it becomes a disagreement over pace of the relationship. This feels superficial to an audience that deserves to see these two actually face their main fears, even if they don't communicate about them perfectly. Ed is not going to be able to perfectly articulate his problem here, but there were better options than "our relationship is moving too fast". Unfortunately, even putting Ed in Buttons' old jacket as symbolism of his want to change and transform can't really save this. He's not changing, he's regressing to the Ed that flounce about in a silk gown. This isn't and can't be Ed completely either.

Unfortunately Stede is somewhat out of character here as well. Stede has a tendency to be self involved and inattentive, but the idea that he would lose track of Ed after the night they had together is implausible, no matter how much he was being praised by other pirates. He has been solely and laser focused on Ed since the first episode of the season, and they've only been reunited for days. He's not gonna lose sight of him like that. Not the dude he watched come back from the dead, not the dude he jumped into the ocean for.

In any case, Ed deciding to become a fisherman as a solution to his perceived conflict with Stede's newfound fame and success as a piratr makes a certain kind of sense, especially if the season is trying to paint both of these characters as "whim-prone". I think it may be fine for the characters to believe this about themselves at this point, but Stede is not whim prone at this point. He has a much more established sense of identity than Ed at this point. He knows he wants to be a pirate and he wants to be in love with Ed. His whims are now things like picking up cursed suits.

I have my doubts about the viability Ed formulating a plan for self discovery that removes him from Stede. This is a man who was acutely suicidal without him. Instead of a conversation about leaving, and thus making Ed and Stede almost have an on-again off-again relationship style (something that undercuts Epic Romances, of which this is one), a better conflict may have been an insistence on Ed's part to quit piracy, thus placing Stede at another crossroads, or even having Ed almost insist on being a kept man aboard the Revenge and going back to the silk robe lifestyle.

He needs to figure out the parts of himself and Blackbeard that Stede needs.

In the final episode, when Ed goes off to be a fisherman, Pop-Pop tells him "if you were ever good at something, go and do that". The implication here is that Ed needs to return to piracy. This in and of itself is not a bad implication for Ed's arc. However, the way it's framed isn't strong enough to get the message across that Ed needs to approach his piracy from a place of love.

The thing Ed is good at, or should be at this point, is loving Stede. He has known he's in love with Stede through the entirety of the season, even when he was the Kraken. It's his love for Stede that keeps him going, even if it turns into a negative obsession. He was obsessed with the loss of the thing which has now returned to him. Being able to more accurately frame this as a return to Stede and the crew (that, ideally, he'd have made better reparations to) would better setup Ed's eventual return to Blackbeard as an aspect of himself that he has control over, rather than a fate he takes on unwillingly.

Unfortunately, because of lack of time and development and some unfortunate music framing choices , when Ed becomes concerned for Stede's safety upon seeing the destruction of the Republic of Pirates, it frames his final development within the season as returning to the Kraken. He doesn't face a fear about it, we don't see him decide that his skills as a pirate are something he can integrate into himself for the foreseeable future, there's no indication that he's taking this on willingly as a reconciliation and realization that these two halves of himself can exist to the benefit of those he loves rather than their detriment. The music that accompanied the initial introduction of the Kraken during the Fuckery, the song the Swede songs, plays lightly in the background as he grabs and dons his leathers and murders a couple British soldiers. It's a dramatic scene that's almost sad. It doesn't seem triumphant or like a real revelation.

This is bad framing of Ed vs Blackbeard vs the Kraken is then reinforced in the eventual death of Izzy Hands and the moment they share as he slips away. Izzy essentially claims responsibility for Blackbeard and the Kraken, even if Ed tearfully apologizes for his behavior as well. With Izzy telling Ed to "just be Ed", any indication that Blackbeard can or should be successfully reintegrated into Ed's overall view of himself is shattered.

It's unfortunate, since Ed was just as much a participant in the creation of Blackbeard as Izzy. To deny that is to deny Ed's complexity as a character and make him a victim of circumstance. He's not. He's smart, cunning, and a little unhinged. These are all things Stede loves about him and things the crew and audience love as well.

This unfortunately ends up impacting the ending of the finale, with Stede retiring from piracy with Ed even though it's counter to his narrative development. He had just achieved notoriety as a pirate, and while he would follow Ed to the ends of the earth, retiring would not be immediately appealing to him.

Basically, while there were very strong moments of characterization, theming, and building character arcs that build the romance, the second season was not nearly as successful in this endeavor as the first. Unfortunately this led the season to a much less romantic tone overall despite the actual physical contact between the two characters.

It's still a great romance, still a good show. But there were unfortunate unforced writing errors in this seasons arcs and characterization.

Buddie fic idea "Best friend's brother au"

Buck was a match and the transplant was successful, Daniel survived. The Buckleys raised three children, but they basically made the same mistakes. They didn't notice Maddie and Buck, they're overprotective of Daniel. All kids don't like it. but the younger Buckleys are as close as in canon (all three). Maddie and Buck have the same stories before the moved to LA. But Daniel, tired of the guardianship of his parents, just like Buck he firstly wanders around the country a little, and then joins the army, where he met Eddie. For both of them it was the second round and they had become very close. Daniel looks after Eddie like his little brother(he really miss Evan, and Eddie is only 2 years older than Buck), and Eddie sees Daniel as the big brother he's always dreamed of. They shared family problems. They talked about problems with their parents, Eddie admited that his wife had decided to divorce him before this tour and went to another country, while Chris stayed with his parents. Eddie confessed that he doesn't want to live in El Paso with his parents. Daniel suggested Eddie move to LA: "Come on. You said yourself that you have savings, plus a pension. So money is not a problem.You have a family there. You will have me there. And my little brother. He is the best. I am not going to go back to hell called "the Buckley family house" too. I'm on my way to my brother's. Evan, or rather he prefers Buck now, said this city had given him a new lease of life. Maybe it will be the same for you and me."

Eddie agreed, but first he still needed to go back to El Paso to pack up all of Chris's things. Daniel, Abuela, Pepa and Buck "This is your friend Dan. I will definitely help with everything", find and furnish a house for the Diaz.

Buck and Eddie quickly become friends and fall in love little by little. They met because Buck offered to meet Eddie and Chris from the airport along with Daniel since the Dan doesn't have a car yet. Eddie and Daniel are a little worried about how Buck will communicate with Chris, but Buck is Buck. He charms Chris and Eddie in seconds. Buck was the one who persuaded Eddie to join the academy and help with training. But Daniel joins the dispatch with Maddie, who has returned to her brothers. The younger Buckleys are happy. Well, Daniel especially as he watches his older sister and younger brother find amazing partners and develop relationships, although both Buckleys are stupid to admit their feelings.And Daniel can't wait for the day when he'll give his speeches at the weddings

Also, hey, Reverse AU anon here! Wanted to give some thoughts.

I really like the idea of Issachar getting a demon in Naraku! I can imagine them having a special bond, with Issachar not wanting to fuse it away later when he gets a COMP and becomes a Hunter, despite the demon being weak. (I can honestly imagine a Mokoi with him, despite it being from the Night Race. It's pretty weak and I think it would be cute if Issachar tried to save it, risking his life when he saw it get bullied by stronger demons - something the small demon would want to return as a favour. I also read on the Fandom Wiki that Mokoi "kill those who use dark magic" which would be a funny little twist, considering what happens canonically with him (which is kinda black magic) - and maybe that Mokoi and Navarre could have a sort of beef with each other, since Navarre is the one using "black magic" here. Plus, I can imagine them fighting over Issachar's attention/affection lol.)

I kinda just imagined that Issachar would get past the Minotaur and Medusa by being both quick and lucky, running past them while they're distracted by demons. But now I'm thinking... Maybe Issachar's demon partner helps him out. When they first arrive, the demon seems visibly distressed, which makes Issachar alert, especially since he doesn't know what causes that distress. Then he sees it - the Minotaur, standing tall over the corpses of several demons. Issachar is no longer sure about this - he hasn't seen any demons like this while descending into Naraku. Isn't there a safer way to reach home? Still, he trusts his demon and they make a plan: the demon will anger a horde of other demons, luring them into the lair of the Minotaur. While the beast is distracted, the two slip by him, descending deeper down. I imagine the Medusa part goes similarly, with Issachar and the demon forming a plan to slip by her and avoid her eyes.

I also like the idea that Navarre follows the Samurai into Tokyo out of anger, but may I suggest: Navarre losing track of the Samurai and getting lost, just like Issachar did inside Naraku. He starts to wander and get even more angry that his perfect life was just ruined like this. All because of the Samurai! But he has to put that anger aside, having to find a place to hide and survive the night at least. People probably don't let him into the bunkers due to being a demon, so he has to sleep outside and learn how to hunt for himself. He's really bad at it, but he finds out the Hunter Associations and some "restaurants" often leave higher quality food in either the trash or inside their buildings, fairly unprotected. He decides to rob them occasionally since he "deserves" to eat better food - it still tastes shit tho, worse than the worst food back in Mikado. Food is food though and he keeps this habit up, making him a "pest" demon - that's where Issachar gets tasked to get rid of him.

Relating to this: Imagine Issachar meeting up with the Samurai and Navarre just building up the courage to confess his love for him (either platonically because that too would be a big deal for him or romantically) and then seeing his friend with his biggest enemies. The people who humiliated him, the people whose fault it is that he is here, in Tokyo. He runs away, not wanting to see Issachar again. Issachar, on the other hand, starts searching for Navarre, but he can't find him. He decides he must just be making trouble somewhere else, so he waits a few days. Still nothing. Another few days. Nothing. Has something happened to him? Maybe he got caught by a demon? He starts worrying, searching frantically for his friend. (I'll let you finish, but another idea I had for this is that maybe Navarre did get caught by a demon - that, or Issachar is the one who gets caught and Navarre has to save him. After that comes the "I still hate you" and them talking things over.)

Another fun idea: Issachar doesn't use magic. He has refused all of his demon's offers of demon whispers, saying they might "taint" him (a nice mirror to canon Issachar). So the one using magic is his demons and Navarre. Kinda like early SMT Heroes and Heroines lol.

Another fun idea for a drawing: Issachar offers Navarre some Nue burgers and Navarre is utterly disgusted by the idea Issachar would eat that (let alone offer it to him).

Also, relating to my last ask, by "buying some suspicious amount of junk food at the bar", I meant Issachar buying both himself and Navarre food. While I don't think they live together (yet) I like the idea that he brings Navarre food and they eat and discuss current events in some quiet corner of Tokyo where not a lot of demons or humans roam. And anything Navarre doesn't eat is just extra food for Issachar or his demons.

Also, sorry for the long ask! These are just the stuff that came to mind.

Aaaaa- These are all great additions!!

I am enamored at the thought of Issachar befriending Mokoi! I think it's fitting considering that Issachar is good-at-heart but still has a darkness following him. And of course, the potential shenanigans between Mokoi and Demon!Navarre having a kind of rivalry with each other. Seems that Issachar is just a magnet for mischief no matter what he does! As for the Minotaur--yeah I could see it where they incite some sort of war or uprising with the other Naraku demons to distract the Minotaur. Then have to run as fast as their legs can go (Issachar having to carry Mokoi probably) while the other demons literally get slaughtered behind them. I think getting past Medusa would comparatively be a little easier. Just a little.

Dumpster Demon Dumpster Demon Dumpster Demon!! Navarre would be SO miffed. And more annoying to the populace than any real danger to them. They approach Issachar like "Hey, can you get rid of an absolute freak of a demon over there?"

Ohh!! Scathing drama!! I can imagine Navarre being SO torn between his fury, confusion, and intense jealousy at seeing Issachar with them of all people. Maybe even a feeling of betrayal. Worse of all if Issachar finds out what Navarre's been up to from the other Samurai. Although it pisses him off that Navarre tried to eliminate his childhood friend Flynn, he still cannot get over his worry at Navarre's sudden disappearance either. Mokoi may deep down be a little worried too, but ultimately think that Issachar is panicking over nothing--either Navarre's ditched them or has gotten himself killed. As for Navarre, maybe in a twist of irony, he gets caught in some demon's domain while running off (just as fate would still have it!). He isn't discovered until a few days later when Issachar, having now reluctantly resigned to Navarre's disappearance, goes to eliminate the domain as part of a quest and is genuinely shocked to find him again. Of course there'd still be a lot of anger and hurt feelings between them to work out, but they're just so exhausted and relieved that each other's safety becomes far more important in that moment. Navarre is sincerely touched that Issachar went through all the trouble of searching for him.

I especially like the idea of Issachar having no magic and especially being adverse to demon whispers. It also fits with his actual demon self in-game lol, since he primarily uses physical skills as that. I think it also serves well as a boundary between him and Navarre's persuasive trickery too--but he'd become a little more open to at least hearing him out as they grow closer.

Navarre would definitely appreciate the shared food, even if he won't admit to it or act disgusted all the same. It's better than digging in the trash and far easier than hunting something else to eat. It also helps Navarre gain an acquired taste for the food, less because of the taste and more out of the sweet gesture of Issachar sharing his earnings. But never for Nue Burgers. Never that.

And no worries about the long ask, Anon! I really love getting asks and, if I'm to be honest, these are always such a joy for me and positively make my day. I can't overstate enough just how much talking about IV and my faves means to me and rekindling my love for them. Sappiness aside, these are really fun. Thank you for sharing!

As a new member of the Toten BBF fanclub I present you some of my own scenarios:

1. The two going on a pranking spree. Their main target is Hawks cause they see him as both a ShigaDabi threat and they can tell he's sus as hell. Dabi approves for the latter and Spinner approves for the former.

2. Marathon movie night. Toga being scandalized when she learns Geten never watched any Disney/Pixar classics or just pre-quirk classics in general. She makes him watch all of then (princesses, Fox & the Hound, Great Mouse Detective, Robin Hood, Aristocats, Toy Story, Wall E, Monsters Inc, Lilo & Stitch, all of them). Afterwards, they experience Barbieheimer (in costume of course). Barely holding back tears with Everything Everywhere All at Once. Falling in love with period dramas, specifically Jane Austen stories (2005 Pride & Prejudice, my beloved). Watching ALL the shitty Netflix romcoms, not because they like them but because they're so bad that it's become a type of anger outlet for them (Twilight, Kissing Booth, 365 Days, 50 Shades of Grey, etc). Dabi once made a comment about how Dead Poets Society sounded boring and it got UGLY.

3. If Curious somehow survived, Geten furiously defending Toga from his bitch of a coworker. Out of all the MLA, Curious is the worst when it comes to dehumanizing the LOV and no way would the persistent journalist stop when they become the PLF. She's borderline harassing all the LOV, but especially Toga. When Geten starts warming up to Toga, he breaks into Curious' things and destroys her incredibly insulting article on Toga. He starts physically getting between the two and acting like Toga's shield. If Curious manages to reach Toga when he's not around, all Toga has to do is send a quick message and Curious barely avoids an ice shard to the head. This along with Geten’s constant glares and both Shigaraki & ReDestro ordering her finally gets Curious to back off.

4. Geten and Toga having sleepovers with late night conversations. Geten confessing his insecurities regarding his own personal identity outside the PLF (now that he's finally had chance to develop). Toga confiding in him all about her different crushes. Sharing their respective pastsand comforting each other. Just two besties being super soft with each other.

5. Baking together. I hc that out of all the LOV the best cook, Dabi is best cook. The rest are all disasters in the kitchen or never had the proper chance to learn. If you're sick of convenience store food and want something nice and homemade, you got to Dabi (he's too soft to say no). The domesticity of it and it baing made by Dabi make his cooking on very high demand (to the point the LOV ignore the professionally made 5 star meals). Geten hears about this and doesn't believe it. He is absolutely shocked at how delicious Dabi's cooking actually is (I'm talking like Shirou Emiya/Chef Bakugou levels) and being Geten, vows to surpass him. Surprise, surprise, Geten is part of the "disaster in the kitchen" group. But he turns out to be a pretty good baker/pastry chef, something Dabi never got the hang of. Capitalizing on this, Geten gets very good at making sweets that are both delicious and are super detailed/very artsy. He gets especially fond if making ultrarealistic cakes cause it's fun to surprise people with them. Toga wastes no time in joining him on his pastry quest and becomes his right hand man. Turns out Toga is very good with making details and with coming up with new patterns. Geten himself prefers bitter sweets but he doesn't mind sweeter flavors cause Toga and most of the PLF prefer them. Also they have pranked the others with the ultrarealistic cakes by taking objects and replacing them with cake. Also Geten helping Toga make Izuku & Ochako Valentines chocolates. The heroes in question are disturbed at how said chocolates came into their possessions but delighted at the taste (they were scolded by Eraserheard for not checking for poison or smth)

Bestie toten is already the ship name of Tenko x Touya, so we need to find a better name for the Toga and Geten friendship!!!

1) I think Geten would absolutely hate Hawks 'cause he'd see him as a threat to ReDestro too. Also Geten doesn't trust in Dabi having friends so wjdjdnjdjd Toga's in for the funsies

2) They are wasting ReDestro money again on streaming services but it's okay! ReDestro thinks it is wonderful they are getting along!! Twice's constantly joining the marathons and soon some of those nights become the PLF official movie nights (not all of them, not that often, just occasional). Geten is fascinated.

3) Curious is 100% because Toga make sure of that herself, so 😏😏 peace of mind.

4) Imagine how tragic this would be if those nights started soon before the big war event. Sorry sorry, I love the angst but-- Geten and Toga sharing those fears in a moment of pure weakness and then regretting it 'cause they are friends, but well... it's hard to fight back years of trauma.

5) I think Geten and Dabi would easily easily destroy one or two kitchens in weird cooking competitions. Easily. Also Toga is a master of the knife (to no one surprise) and Compress decides to act like the host of the event just for the jokes. PLF pure chaos!!!!!

YES WHY AREN'T PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT MR CHIDOUIN MANIPULATING KAI

Bro literally fooled him into thinking that he was finally part of a family again and that he was loved. I'm so sure Kai projected the family he couldn't have into the Chidouins... loving present parents (father especially) and a sibling he can now successfully protect. his second chance. and mr Chidouin fueled all of this and no one talks about it 💔

IT'S... HEARTBREAKING! i personally interpret a lot of kai's resignation toward gashu as something that was present years before he met the chidouins. the wake of the assassin's trial wore on both of them, and i'm sure the frustration only grew between them with kai's refusal to fulfill his role as an assassin - the best outcome is asunaro would switch his field of expertise; the most likely outcome is that kai will be executed. in his desperation, he's always pushed kai to his limits; by the point he weans off of this is the point at which gashu is accepting kai's as good as dead (and, from that, ends up surrounding himself in theoreticals, those what-ifs: what if kai weren't so compassionate? what if kai had no choice but to act upon resentment? what if sei survived? so on, so forth... all present within the ranger project, drawing from both of them.)

gashu and mr. chidouin both have an issue where their cruelty stems from how much they love those they're abusing.

however, gashu - at least, by the end of it - is clinging to the idea of kai more than kai as a person. gashu evidently cares for his (biological?) family and places priority on kai over sei for this reason. the disconnect only grows once kai is essentially... as good as dead, to the organization. and that's why gashu begins on the ranger project... he wants confirmation, any at all, that there was a possible outcome for either of his possible successors that didn't result in death. but, he's only left with the awful truth that there was nothing he could've done. even ridding them of their compassion, making them ruthless without abandon, wouldn't grant them anything but ire from the organization. asunaro may be a yakuza, but it's much more involved in its technical side than brute force, and when that inevitably clashes with its ideals (regardless of its reasoning), they will be duly executed.

(ultimately, as of the second main game, the only one who accepts that role is michiru - who has witnessed the death of all of the satous who were accepted by asunaro, due to their devotion. in a sense, michiru falls victim to that same complex of being all too devoted to one thing (her ambitions) and that being what asunaro intends to prey upon, making her the perfect successor. but i digress...)

unlike gashu''s fruitless attempts, kai's given his "second chance" as you've said! one that's possible only by mr. chidouin's grace.

though kai's status has significantly fallen, and he's been outcast from the organization with no intention of returning for such a menial task of data gathering. as i see it, kai shares a similar mindset to many asunaro agents in that he's... restless. beyond the fact he stands as an omen for the chidouins, proof that asunaro's going to seize them when the time comes, the work he's assigned is mind-numbingly repetitive and meant to break his resolve down. he's newly isolated from asunaro (which, for better and worse, was his only source of stability; a constant he could rely upon) and must keep up a lie before people who deserve much better than himself.

kai's initial phrasing of being "disgusted" with mr. chidouin for treating him as if he was family has always stood out to me. it's very upsetting! i believe this feeling brings about the point where kai ends up confessing the homemaker work is a facade, and begins laying out asunaro's intentions in sending him here. it's been confirmed through the ministory that kai will at least tell mr. chidouin of his past in asunaro, and mr. chidouin has always been implied to hold him to a certain standard/distance from sara because of the danger kai embodies - i believe part of the reason kai revealed this, other than to help prepare the chidouins for what they're up against, is to let them cast free judgement. no longer putting up that front of the polite caretaker allows them to see him as he 'truly is' and decide whether or not he's still worthy of that affection. with all the cards laid out, all the blood on these supposedly kind hands, their judgement now has unclouded basis.

...& yet, they decide he is worthy of love. for all the harm he's committed, the very fact he confessed this truth before asunaro could go any further means compassion still lays within him. this was the start of kai being allowed to live, rather than survive.

however, kai satou was never meant to 'live'. i've mentioned this before, but i see kai's first trial as not taking place within the death game, but in the seven years before he was sent to the death game. this was mr. chidouin's way of making sure kai was of use to the organization in one of two ways:

1) kai has had asunaro's purpose ingrained enough such that he will remain a neutral, compliant party to sara's capture for the ultimatum. meaning compassion is not his driving force, as many had thought, and they may start anew in testing his loyalty in another field that did not require being the one to lay the final blow (as has that has always been where he falters, though he'll stand by to another's death). or 2) as it happens in-game, mr. chidouin manages to take advantage of a moment's vulnerability from kai and build that bond. kai is now loyal to the family, and indirectly: asunaro. though his execution is inevitable, there will be far less struggle: kai will become a willing sacrifice for its purposes. with this life granted by the chidouins, he will give it up for their sakes without protest because he's learned to love and trust them.

however, for either of these outcomes, mr. chidouin took a large risk in accepting kai as a guard for his family at all. building that trust was crucial. if kai were to discover mr. chidouin's connections to asunaro, the likelihood he would be hurt (if not be the push for kai to finally kill; he's still an assassin, after all) was extremely high. the fact he took this risk at all was likely out of respect for the satous' work & kai's own supposed victory of the assassin's trial - as well as some curiosity to see what such a valuable piece was worth, were he able to get him back on his side.

of course, kai is not stupid by any means. he was raised in an environment where deceit is commonplace, and would've immediately recognized any false front mr. chidouin put up if he were only ever looking to use kai. instead, mr. chidouin began with cautiously learning about kai as an equal (a possible enemy), and held genuine respect for him as an individual. unlike gashu, he was never looking for how to force kai into fitting asunaro's orders - but instead, how to clearly identify kai's motivations and connect those to what asunaro needed. this sort of deliberation requires empathy and understanding on a very personal level.

which... is where i disagree with the idea that mr. chidouin was only ever leading kai on with false ideas/promises. kai didn't catch onto any ulterior motives because there were no ulterior motives to find - though he's been prepared for years to be hypervigilant of such things. kai is smarter than that, and mr. chidouin wouldn't take the risk of himself/his family being killed if he didn't respect kai in some regard. he could've let kai die as is, but remained confident he could connect with & lead kai to a more satisfactory execution - one he felt kai deserved.

mr. chidouin invited him to the chidouin home because he wanted to examine what future kai should follow - none of that is a lie. he wanted to know kai's perspectives on the orders asunaro has given him in the past, on how kai sees the world after having been raised by asunaro, or even - kai's feelings toward the chidouins... and there's no way to falsify his hesitance when he tries asking if kai intends to give them up to asunaro. the anger, as a father, if kai would still put sara in harm's way (as far as kai knows of asunaro's intentions, it'd reflect poorly upon kai himself to do so). none of this is falsified and seems fitting of a normal civilian who's been forced to balance this target on their back. beyond asunaro, too, he manages to slip into kai's life in small ways - remind him that he's here in messages, calls, or with physical touch. he'll encourage kai and praise him for improving upon his homemaker work or cooking, and he'll share in any joy kai offers. if kai asks about him, he'll say what he can... and kai rarely questions the few times he leaves anything out, because of how he's been raised & reminded to not impose due to his position in darkness.

over time, mr. chidouin preys upon that subtle fear and inferiority kai feels: believing himself to be less deserving (or... human) than civilians are. kai's been stained by darkness, cursed to be no more than a shadow such that he'll never destroy sara's light, so on, so forth... and it only reinforces how strong and forgiving mr. chidouin is by contrast. despite what mr. chidouin says, kai's left with the feeling that anyone else would rightfully condemn him or be afraid of him. mr. chidouin's hope that kai can improve and find something for himself is something that's... so important to kai, because he emphasizes the idea that kai can eventually forge his own path - something asunaro repeatedly denied, so intent on bending him until he broke.

anyway, just. with all of this, and mr. chidouin's personal balance of light/darkness & understanding of what social situations ask of him -- kai was blinded by it. mr. chidouin's scary because he's all too genuine, most of the time. he genuinely wanted to give kai another chance to prove himself to asunaro before he died because he was such a strong contender - and from that, he eventually wanted kai to have a life he felt fulfilled in. seeing how much kai learned and how much more. open he became as time went on was something that made him feel... proud. and i'm of the belief that there were some moments he wouldn't document for asunaro because he felt they were too personal. things he felt special for being able to learn about kai, where even his father couldn't pry any of that from him.

mr. chidouin learned what kai wanted, and, as you said, fueled that desire to have the chance to protect people this time. gashu was long-gone. sei was sacrificed. kai wasn't going to allow the chidouin parents to be ill-prepared for asunaro's manipulation, nor let sara be sacrificed to the ultimatum to bolster whichever victor rose upon the ashes. mr. chidouin listened close and agreed to kai's plans to save them, only to relay every part of that to asunaro. that preparation is exactly why they were so prepared when kai's betrayal finally came and were able to organize it so quickly.

kai's attempted betrayal of the organization that raised him was met with betrayal of his own family. mr. chidouin fostered their bond to the point that... i honestly don't think kai could stop caring about him, even if he finally broke that trust. the love he granted was genuine, and it's difficult to discard that when it's the very reason for him doing... everything to prove kai wasn't yet useless (to asunaro).

i've gone on far too long, but. gestures. i'm shaking your hand so much... i really like talking abt kai's different feelings toward gashu v. mr. chidouin's treatment and how each paternal figure had envisualized kai's future. gashu was stalwart in the idea kai couldn't die (and leave him alone; he even made up that absence with ranger...), whereas mr. chidouin accepted that as necessary and wanted to have kai thrive & reach his potential until that inevitable point in fate. it's very interesting seeing how that slight change of acceptance can affect their treatment of those around them and affect their perceptions so heavily.

I JUST FINISHED EPISODE SEVEN AND AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Well technically I finished it like 20 minutes ago (11 pm ish) and was in such shock that I rewatches some scenes several times and then looked at Tumblr for a few minutes lol. There were also a few minutes total of zoning out in shock and just going o.o in there lol. Anyway!

I LITERALLY GUESSED THAT SEB WOULD GO UP AND KISS HIM DURING THE PERFORMANCE OH MY G O S H H H H AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! :DDDDD

Also at first I was a bit disappointed it was in the gym (for like two seconds lol) but then I realized :'DD it's paralleling season 1 :')) and they're back with another High School Musical musical :'))) 😭😭❤️🥰. Like, Ricky pausing when he saw his mom and his dad but keeping going :'DD? That's the healed version of Getcha Head in The Game 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️🥰. The whole thing is a great parallel :')). Like, now that I think about to, Kourtney being nervous like Nini was because her life is changing relating to school - AAHHHH :'))). I just love them all so much <3333. And I wonder if we'll get a phone light moment :'D. If we don't though lol, I think we've had enough of those <333 so we'll survive :'). But even though it was kind of a parallel relating to Nini, it's kinda Kourtney as well :'). And hey, then it would be a reference to Nini <333. Ah, anyway :'). Big Red confronting Antoine was AMAZING LOL!! It's especially hilarious considering he and Ashlyn aren't even dating anymore, but you know, some guys are just jerks xD. Anyway, I'm super glad he's here :'))) <33. Also phew his hair is better lol 😌! XD.

EJ :DD! His scene with Gina was so 😭😭😭😭😭😭💔❤️❤️. I can't even <333. I am really glad she apologized though :') - I understood where she was coming from, and you have every right to break up with someone for any reason, but I always felt like she was being a little hard on EJ last season. So seeing them have a mutual apology and understanding was really nice :')). And discuss Ricky lol? EJ is the best <3. Also I swear if EJ ends up as Coach Bolton xD. Lowkey, I'd prefer Seb or Big Red since they're still in high school, but EJ alluded to being on the stage again and he fits the role more 👀. Hm, interesting :). Also him talking to Ashlyn 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️. Your honor I love them so much :')). And I love him <333.

Ashlyn!!! AAAHHHHHH SHE'S GONNA TELL HER :'DDD!! I want to know what's in the box o.o 👀. Less shocked and more just EYEING on my part lol. Also her scene with Dewey Wood was so sweet 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️. Ay, that's another person who's back :D!! I love him, he's great :D <33. And hilarious xDD. Anyway, SLFJDHKGS her pretending to date Big Red xD. But also noooooo Maddox 😭😭😭😭❤️. Emmyyyy!! She's the only one who knows about Miss Jenn o.o. Of course she is though, lol xD. But anyway, she's slaying too, as Taylor :'DD. And I love how she was kind of being like, the Bailey there :')). I love her and Miss Jenn's relationship, even if we haven't seen much of it <33. And I love her 🥰❤️.

Jet is going through it lol xD. Poor Kourtney just is not picking up what this man is putting down :') xD. Or she is and is ignoring it lol. But, hey, he tried at least xd. I think he's gonna confess, but I don't know if she'll reciprocate or not 😬. Still, I'm proud of him no matter what :')) <33. And he's slaying so hard as Chad :D!! Also, he's being an amazing brother <333 :'D.

Maddox, my girllll 😭😭😭😭😭💔❤️. The balloons for Madison making the board break :'(((. It is sweet of her but like xdd <333. Mr. Mazzara is slaying SO HARD :DDD!!! But seriously who is gonna take over 😬. Also dang he keeps having moments with Miss Jenn and the girl just dips and leaves him hanging 😭 xd. Oof sorry man, lol xDD. Anyway he does SO WELL as Coach Bolton :DDD!! Also, he's adorable, thank you very much <333. Like we especially see it in the beginning:'). I love him so much <333.

Back to Gina, she's playing as Gabriella 🥰🥰❤️. Also why does her mom like only watch her scenes 😭. Chill girl xd. Anyway, I wasn't thinking she's gonna go? ALSO LAST EPISODE AS WEL AS THIS EPISODE, WE GOT A "HONEY" AGAIN!!! THE RETURN OF HONEY Y'ALL 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰!! AS WE D E S E R V E!!! Anyway xd. Y'all I am living my best life lol, this is exactly what I wanted xD. Cute after the angst, lol xDD 🥰❤️❤️. How they managed to fit BOTH a cheating recovery storyline (with several twists) and a coming out storyline I have no idea but XDD. Lovely lol. I needed a bit of fluff and a couple kisses and that's what I got so no complaints here 😌😌 XDD 🥰🥰❤️. My babeys <33. Anyway!!! Like I said I loved how you could really see their growth with this :')). Like Carlos could tell Seb was trying not to lie and actually asked him about it, and Seb came back later to talk :'DD. Though "are we using words now, honey?" BRUTAL man XDD dang Carlos lol. But seriously I'm really proud of them both :')) <33. Also thank goodness there were some really funny moments throughout their storyline 😭❤️. We needed it xD. Listen I'm just glad we get close to normal Seblos for while :'). Because if we didn't get anything significant of them after getting back together I would've needed another season so I could see them be happy LOL. Anyway xD 😭❤️❤️🥰. In all seriousness I did really like their storyline this episode <333 :') ❤️❤️😭🥰. And describing it as an Afterschool Coming Out Special from the 1980s was hilarious XDDD. But let's go back to what I mentioned at the beginning of this post because

I LITERALLY MESSAGED MY SIBLING WHEN SEB SAID HIS DAD DIDN'T KNOW LIKE "he's gonna kiss Carlos in front of him/everyone isn't he lol" AND OH MY GOSH I WAS R I G H T!!!! I DON'T KNOW IFI SPECIFIED ON STAGE BUT IT WAS ONE OF MY GUESSES!! I was also like NOO they wouldn't BUT THEY DID :'DDDD!!!! OH MY GOSH I LOVED THAT SO MUCH 😭😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. Also the way the whole audience was like 👁️👄👁️ WELL ALRIGHT :DDD!! XDDD!! Plus a Rina kiss right after that so the audience must just be going with it xD. Maybe Seb's playing the young version of the nameless Scott Hoying character lol and we just connected it to HSM4 XDD. Oh and "THIS MEANS WE'RE A THING" S T O P P P P HE IS THE MOST ADORABLE EVER 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰. Also how his dad immediately turned to (presumably) his mom to talk to her XDD. But he was smiling next so I think we're good :')). Maybe we'll see a talk next episode or a meeting but who knows <3333. I'm happy either way 🥰🥰.

Anyway that was the most adorable thing ever and I love them so so much <33333 😭😭❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰.

And y'all the MUSIC THIS EPISODE!!! ALL THE SONGS WERE SO GOOD :DDDD!!! Y'all know I love Now or Never xD but SERIOUSLY they were all amazing :DDD. And can we talk about the set and blocking/choreography with it as well??? I don't know how they had time for all that but it's a SLAY!!! Though I suppose they did show us with the dancing in episode 2 that they learn quickly lol xD. Anyway 🥰! Night of Nights was amazing (plus Seblos kiss at the end of the song 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️ perfect timing by the way Seb <333 xD)!! I Want It All was SUCH A SLAY!!! And like I said, I adore Now or Never xD. Mr. Mazzara just WORKED in it too, he was perfect :D!! Anyway, yeah, it was all wonderful 🥰🥰🥰❤️.

Y'all I loved this episode so freaking much :')). I'm scared for the next one, and DEFINITELY not at all read, especially considering it's the finale 😭😭, but I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!! I am gonna miss this show though :'). So, so freaking much <333. But yeah - this episode was AMAZING!! I'm glad we're getting a lot of the performance, too - we deserve it :'D.
