I want to talk about this moment. I love episode 5 so much..its just have soooo many goodies in it.
So episode 4, my heart went out to Angel Dust.
Episode 5, my heart went out to Husker. We didn't witness Alastor physically abuse Husker like how Val was brutal to Angel. But Husker appeared down right more terrified than Angel was in the last episode. I'm guessing Angel just grown a little more use to it, so his reactions are not as extreme when fearing for his soul as its more a common occurrence.
But it was heart wrenching to see a level headed, sturdy rock, stoic guy just shake violently in fear. I just wanted to hold and soothe the giant winged cat.
To witness Alastor be two faced...well, that's completely unfair, we know he capable of such an act. But to turn so quickly against his own "employees" that I assume is one of his top favorites.
Husker was only trying to give a caution advice/warning to Alastor before slipping a snide remark to cause Alastor to snap.
It was really, really bad timing on Husker part. I'm not saying he deserved it but he should have seen it coming. He knows Alastor most beside possibly Rosie and Mimzy, he observant and strong ability to read people and situations he must knew that Alastor was about to snap. The situation was basically the same as putting your hand out to pet a dog and the god responded super aggressive and snarling...only for the person to stick their hand out more and got surprised the dog bit. Tho, its unstandable Husker comments was out during the heat of the moment.
Alastor was already was beyond irritated. Lucifer has officially got under Alastor skin. Then Mimsey showing up, which I'm pretty sure Alastor has suspect why she showed up, to clean up her mess. Bad timing again. Then Husker stupidly pushed Alastor last button by slipping the comment of being on a leash. Which, on top of who controls that leash, along with what went on during the 7 year absence that Lilith also had a 7 year absence (possible together)...I also wonder HOW Husker knew about that. I doubt Alastor would confide to anyone about making a deal like that. So wither Husker was present when Alastor made a deal that made him on a leash or Husker as a gambler and bartender is just that good at reading people and most situations.
Did anyone notice when Husker pulled Alastor away from the tour group, Alastor (sounded he was restraining his frustration in) "What is it?" had no radio-ness sound to his voice? AM I the only one notice that. Or am I just crazy that I somehow not hear it.?
Can we talk about that please?! Someone talk about that!
If that isn't a tell Alastor wasn't completely at the edge should had Husker run for the hills.
This episode had so many Alastor slip ups/losing composure and Im eating it up. Especially Alastor leaning down to the King of Hells face to say Fuck you. Not witty banter. Just a irritated curse out. It was delivered beautifully. It's been 3 nights and I'm still riding that high.
I really have no idea where I'm going with this post and I'm probably rambling, but I really enjoyed this episode.

heyy dude i’m watching ur podcast video rn and i saw some of ur posts about it can you please go more into detail about ur thoughts on this charming man and byler cus i feel like i’ve been screaming into the void about the smiths LMAO. i didn’t really get it w this charming man but i wanna see what you think 🙏
okay so im guessing youre asking for an explanation on this charming man & dont worry i have also been screaming the smiths into the void lately. okay so my thing with this charming man is like, it doesnt fit entirely into the perspective of either will or mike but there are certain parts that i think are just so fucking byler. i think mainly the admiration that the speaker has for the charming man is what really sells it for me; it is very very clear in the song that the speaker has a real deep & passionate admiration for him (& maybe even a crush but i dont think morrissey is ready for that talk yet & also, as a jewish person, he can go to hell.)
we got the first verse & ough DOGGIE this one is real byler coded. "puncture bicycle on the hill side desolate" could be a lot of things but the specific bicycle imagery sticks out to me a lot for obvious reasons i'm sure, originally thinking i was going to talk about how the lyric could parallel the swing set meeting since mike too in a way was left stranded looking for help during that moment before he went up to will,
BUT, i think it fits in even better when you consider will's absence from hawkins. "punctured bicycle on the hill side desolate" could also be imagery of will's bike, because god knows where it is now, & mike is seeing it just in complete misery.
the next line "will nature make a man of me yet?" okay when i tell you i have an interpretation for this one i MEAN IT. nature, in this line pretty obviously, refers to forces beyond one's control, & i once again think this is coming from mike's perspective (thought it could be easily applied to will's). okay hold onto your horses because this one is the wildest in the west
"will nature make a man of me yet?" – mike wheeler's internalized homophobia makes him unable to view himself as a real "man." by the forces of nature taking will away from him, perhaps he views this as a way of the universe trying to make him "man up" or whatever. i know that one makes me giggle so much. it hits harder if you think about it in terms of mike's obliviousness because ough thats so good, but it also can apply to will in the same way now that he's been separated from mike. but im sorry from mikes perspective it hits so much harder
OKAY now we're moving to will's territory. the next line i want to talk about is "why pamper life's complexity when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?" a big theme in this charming man is how the charming man is of a very higher class than the speaker, which can definitely be said about will & mike. so, this could be explaining will talking about how mike's situation is different than his, i have a deeper better explanation,
i think this line could refer to "why think about all the fucking shitty things ever when mike is so great." it's super implied in the show that mike & will always turn to each other when theyre going through a rough period, or that mike is always protective of will/wants to make sure that he's okay, so i think this may be will talking about why he should deal with the outside world, in terms of trauma or homophobia or whatever, when he can just chill out with mike & not have to worry about all that
okay, so. i don't want to talk about the "i would go out tonight" line because i don't really think it applies here & that's okay. but what i WILL go over next is the "this man said, 'it's gruesome, that someone so handsome should care,' " line because all i can think of when i see this scene is in s4 when mike & will are burying the body in the desert & will cant help himself but stare at mike. it's probably really "gruesome" (fucking AUGHHHH terrible) that someone as handsome as mike should care about him & his problems when he thinks that the probability of them getting together really sucks. even though his personality is great too, mike is a very good looking guy i will say myself & i have also thought this since i was a youngin. so the way that he is just so beautiful to will & also to anyone with eyes makes it even worse to be pining over him because god, he's just so fucking pretty?
"jumped up pantry boy, who never knew his place" once again talking about the difference in class between the speaker & the charming man. though i wouldn't go as far to describe will as a pantry boy. but guess what? will never knew his place until after he found mike.
okay finally the last two lines of the chorus but i analyze them out of order;
the "he knows so much about these things" is like OUGH that is VAN SCENE BEHAVIOR. i could 100000% see mike going "will knows so much about these problems i have & exactly how to fix them" or whatever, & in a metaphorical way you could make the argument that will is trying to communicate something along the lines of "return the ring" but trying to get a 1:1 match for that line is a bit tricky & a lot of a stretch since will is trying to convince mike to go for it, BUT what im trying to get at is that the line could parallel how will is giving love advice to mike in the same way that the charming man does to the speaker, & the speaker is as entranced with the charming man as mike is with will

You couldn't breath. You try to take a deep breath, it doesn't work. You couldn't stop thinking about it.
The sunset would have been pretty to most people, the way it was more red then orange. You swear you see pieces of the Creel House in the clouds.
The haunting shales reminded you of your time spent with him. Vecna.
It hits to close to home. Last year, Max almost didn't make it out from Vecna's spell. You had helped Lucas deal with Jason, and quickly slipped on Max's walkman. She was fine.
You weren't. He had taken you. But he didn't show you your fears he had anticipated. He had shown you max dying over, and over, and over again. And you couldn't stop it no matter what.
By some miracle everyone made it out alive. Not without scars littering their bodies. Night terrors haunting their dreams.
You try to think of the fact that Max is two trailers down, doing her homework. Safe. She is safe, she has to be.
You can't help it. Your heart is racing and your chest keeps tightening. You notice the lack of oxygen.
You can't do this alone. You get off the couch and carelessly slip on a pair of sandals before blowing to Max's trailer.
you knock and can barely hear it or Max open the door over your racing heart. Max sees the tears streaming down your face and pulls you into a hug and helps bring you to the couch.
She pulls you half into her lap. She is holding you so tight there is not doubt. Max is safe, and she always was. You feel stupid for having been so scared.
"You're okay, baby," Your girlfriend whispers as she pushes some hair out of your face. You look up at her and still are barely heaving out breaths.
"Tell me something you can feel, five of them," she says. She holds you tighter as you try to feel something other than the weight on your chest.
"Your shirt, it's soft," you mumble as your hand fists im her shirt, "Your hair, it's silky," you continue as you run a hand through her hair. "You, you're safe," your voice is barely a whisper as you ghost a hand across her cheek, "Your jacket is rough but soft. The couch is rough," you finish running your fingers over the couch and her jacket.
"Good job my love. Four things you see," she always did them in random. Never I'm the correct order, she said it helped her and if you wanted it normal she could. You never did. You liked having to think about what you would have to find next.
"You," you cup your hand on her cheek and look into her eyes, "the table," you point to the coffee table a few feet away. Your heart was still racing. Your chest was still tight, but the tears had stopped. You could almost breath.
"The floor, and the record player," you finished as your breathing slowed. Max smiles and squeezes your hand. She slowly gets up and starts the record player.
'If only I could, I'd make a deal with god. Get him to swap our places'
Kate Bush. 'Running up That Hill' had been the two of yours dedicated comfort song for years. The sound of the music fills the trailer as Max sits down and pulls you in for a hug.
'Be running up that hill'
You hear part of a verse as you rest your forehead on Maxs. She leans in to the embrace as the two of you sit in silence
"I love you and I promise, everytime you come I will be here," she presses a soft kiss on your cheek as she grabs a blanket and pulls you into your lap.
"I love you to red. And I'll always be there, we killed that asshole," you say with a smile before sleep overtakes the two of you.
Max's mom doesn't question it when she comes home to see the young lovers entangled in the other, asleep..she smiles as she sees. Her daughter finally had someone she loved. And that girl loved her to.

“Jesus Christ, you can be such a dumbass, you know that, Bokuto?!” She ran up to Bokuto and pulled his leg covering up to reveal a bruise featuring a small cut that was starting to bleed on his knee. “I'm sorry, okay?” Bokuto winced as she ran her fingers softly over the bruise.
“No, it's okay,” she sighed, placing her hand on his lower back to lead him over to the bleachers to sit somewhere other than the floor. “Sorry you fell.” “Well, it was partially my fault since I was goofin’ around.” “Yeah, it was.” She smiled and turned to the rest of the team. “You guys can continue practicing, though your ace might have to be out of commission for a while.”
“What?!” She turned to Bokuto, who was already pouting. “You’re kidding, right?” “Bokuto, you can't jump and expect to land perfectly fine with a leg that looks like that.” “But-” “No! It is my job as this team’s manager to make sure you are safe and can play in tournaments. I just so happen to be lucky enough to be first aid certified. You can miss a couple practices. It's not the end of the world, dummy.”
“Uh-oh,” Sarukui giggled, turning to Akaashi. “Looks like Bokuto is in emo mode again.” “Of course he is,” Akaashi rolled his eyes, twirling the volleyball in his hand. “He’s probably super pissed that he doesn't get to play for a couple days.” “I mean, I get it, that would totally suck. I would be pretty pissed if I were the ace and I don't get to do what I do best for a couple of days.” “He’ll be fine though. I know he’s into the manager. It's pretty obvious. Has been since our first year. But the dumbass hasn't made a move in all that time.”
“Do you feel a little better, Koutarou?” She finished wrapping the bandage around his leg and he stood up, stretching a bit. “I feel great! Hey, hey, hey!!! Does this mean I can play now?! I can stand and I can probably-” “Don't even try it, Bokuto. Sit down.” She pointed to the chair and Bokuto pouted, slumping down. “This sucks.” “I know it does, Bokuto.” She sat down next to the chair that Bokuto was in and watched the team, turning to find Bokuto with a pouty bottom lip looking like he was about to cry.
“Tell you what, Koutarou, since you can't play for the rest of the day, let’s go somewhere. Get dinner and go on a walk so you can stretch out the leg a bit..” “What about bowling?!” Bokuto smiled at her, almost forgetting why he was upset. “That might be pushing it, Bokuto.” “Bowling mostly uses your arms, I promise I won't push it. I'll use a six pound ball and use that stupid kid thing. The one that’s just a big hill.” She giggled and ruffled his hair. “Sure, Bokuto. We can go bowling. But if I see you pushing your leg too much, I will send you straight home.” “Deal!” Bokuto jumped up and went to run off, but stopped himself when he could feel her eyes burning into the back of his head.
Bokuto turned around with a little smile. “Are you coming?” She walked towards him, locking arms. “I swear to god, your leg better feel good tomorrow, Koutarou.”

idk about an actual fic, but!
during starcourt, billy absorbs el’s powers and gets trapped in the UD. vecna is on the hunt for him, so billy spends his time in hiding, trying to survive. alone. worn thin. undefeated.
and then, max writes a letter. it’s exactly the opening vecna’s been looking for this past year. billy being remembered. being grieved for. the one thing vecna can hold over him, use to lure him out.
except max, unlike billy, has never been alone. she has a support system of friends, a family of her own choice. so when vecna gets its claws on her, on the one person who remembers billy, and misses him, and hasn’t stopped crying over him, she fights back. max, unlike billy, has the weapons to. she thinks about lucas and el and dustin, about inside jokes, and dances, and days spent wreaking havoc at the mall.
she thinks about billy. her brother, who woke her up at the crack of dawn for driving lessons before school. who pretended to be mad at her for stealing his new tapes, but kept leaving them on her desk after listening to them. whose life amounted to a leather jacket, and the smell of his cologne that wouldn’t go away, not even months after his room had been emptied, and two full notebooks, explaining. apologizing. confessing to a boy he thought could never want him back.
billy, who lived his life protecting her, and died protecting her, too.
behind her closed eyes, max thinks she hears a voice. probably just another one of vecna’s tricks. ‘let her go,’ billy’s saying, and when max opens her eyes, he’s standing right there, blood-soaked and bone-tired and so real it hurts.
the tentacles around her start loosening. billy yells, ‘it’s not her you want, fucker. i’m right here,’ and max falls to the ground, scrambling to get up, choking on billy’s name. trying to reach him.
it’s not a god her brother’s making a deal with.
there’s a blood-red storm brewing above them, billy in the eye of it. ‘mad max,’ he says, thunder crackling from his fingertips, ‘run.’

Thinking about the popular anti-christ movies and the names of the mothers involved. With all the mentions of the "spawn of satan" in st im surprised that The Devils Advocate is the only movie on the inspo board and not Rosemarys Baby or The Omen. But The Changeling isnt on the inspo board either and the Creel home is FULL of references to it.
I think the Changeling plays into the concept of the anti christ in The Omen very well, and there might have been a Rosemarys Baby reference in The Changeling as well but its a bit of a stretch. Both The Changeling and The Omen tell a story that starts with two boys being switched- one is an orphan ("Edward"?) and one is a boy born to a "normal" family (Henry?). In the Omen, the orphan boy is the Antichrist, the spawn of satan (read that with Victors voice). The Changeling doesn't have those sort of antichrist connotations but i do think this possible reference to Rosemarys Baby is interesting:
(both find a secret passage to secret room in their new home behind shelves leading them towards the child they are trying to find)
All this switching talk makes me think of Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) which directly references switching lives/places with someone else... which is an interesting choice of song for s4
But also the concept of children not being born evil and that the caretakers of the children should look in the mirror at themselves is very strong in ST. Its also something that stuck in the back of my mind while watching The Omen, how this little 5 year old boy is hated and looked down upon by his caretakers while just... acting like a emotionally distressed 5 year old boy ("she always hated me"). I understand with the context he is the AntiChrist(tm) but st always subverts.
Regardless, I find it very interesting the name of the mothers on these movies and possible references in ST:
In The Devils Advocate, there is Alice Lomax, who slept with John Milton (Satan) once as a young girl and had Kevin Lomax (the son of Satan). She is a very christian woman.
In the Indianapolis Gazette, Edward's mother's name is Alice.
The funny thing is that the antichrist isnt Kevin in this movie but Kevin's prospective son that Milton wanted him to have with his half sister (🤮).
In The Omen, Damien's (lil antichrist kid) mother was a jackal buried under the name Maria Scianna, which translates to Mary of the Shadows, which makes sense given the whole "dark version of the virgin mary" thing going on here. Similar to Rosemary Woodhouse in Rosemary's Baby and Mary-Ann (Kevin's wife), who had a shitton of RB references attatched to her.
Rosemary Woodhouse brings me to Robin Rose Weaver and Nancy Ruth Walker, both having the exact same intials as RB, with Robins hair actually styled to look like a combination of s2/3 Karen and Virginia (Karens bangs and Virginias bob) with the charactersitic pink-white-blue color scheme of female conformity mostly associated with mothers
With Robyn even saying that shes looks like shes coming from an Easter brunch, which again more Christian mom subtext. Not only that but Christian mom subtext visiting a psychiatric hospital re: Virginia in the show planning to have Henry sent away to Brenner, Karen promising to not let Mike go at the end of s4, but also Billys mom with the big rose on her shirt abandoning him.
Which is a common theme amongst some of the movies above- mothers rejecting their son, upon finding out that they are "evil". The final lines of Rosemarys Baby:
You're trying to get me to be his mother
Also The Omen:
(therapist talking about Kathy, Damien's adoptive mother who doesn't know that he's not actually her biological son)
Which, I know I've mentioned this a gazillion times, but why does the rose-y urn that has been in the Wheeler home suddenly change during the earthquake in s4? Why is the Wheeler home full of references/callbacks to the stuff in the Creel home in Henrys unreliable memories, which is seemingly different to when the gang actually visit it in the show (different wallpaper, missing doorway, etc)?

but yes, i did actually dissect the lyrics. yes, i am actually insane. and yes, i love this au quite a lot.
here are my notes and what i think each song represents, tho its mainly just the vibes i get. i made notes as i listened to them

what difference does it make?: at first i was going to say its jophiel wanting to figure out what went wrong but azazel makes them promise not to, but i think its better suited for azazel understanding hes a demon, but he cant help but still have faith in the almighty
please please please let me get what i want: fuckkk is this about azazel being a demon but still wanting to do good 😭 short but still painful
ever fallen in love (with someone you shouldn't've): my first reaction to the title alone was like the second image of the kambucha girl meme. anyway i think this one is about them becoming friends (or more?? 👀) but knowing its seen as wrong. "And if I start a commotion, I run the risk of losing you and that's worse" makes me also think of jophiel talking to the metatron and realizing he shouldnt ask about azazel lest he risk the poor thing being smited.
nothing critical: ohhhh this one gives hella vibes of jophiel not trusting heaven and knowing "something isnt right here" in regards to the fall-- HOLD UP "I know, someone had to go, If not him it'd be me instead" HELLO??? aziraphale asking for jophiel??? is this like after he finds out what azazels name used to be??
flowers never bend with the rainfall: hmm... i feel like this is a plot point song. not sure why. but "And I hide behind the shield of my illusion" makes me think it pertains to azazel
bird in space: oh this ones a bit tricky. i think ive reached the songs that no longer fit the lore we've been given thus far. so the only thing i can think rn is jophiel enjoying earthly pleasures? not rlly sure

the stranger: first of this is a bop and im loving it. very groovy. the first thing that comes to mind is the "choose your faces wisely" prophecy. ooo is this about jophiel trying to convince azazel hes still meant to be an angel? that he wasnt meant to fall? also, the last verse is sticking out to me... not sure why
all i think about now: fuckkkkk this is giving me the vibes of jophiel finding out azazel Fell cuz of him and feeling guilty about it. "If I'm late, can I thank you now?" FUCKING OW?? oh yeah for sure this is about jophiel finding out and being sucker punched with guilt

the moon will sing: i fucking love this song but i dont think ive ever looked at the lyrics so lets goooo. right away i see "I could have been anyone, anyone else. Before you made the choice for me" and think of aziraphale asking and falling for jophiel, and in a way making the choice of jophiel staying an angel. "Instead, I made a bed with apathy" jophiel trying not to care about a random demon. "I shine only with the light you gave me" jophiel giving azazel ideas on how to do "good" while being "bad". also with that line, thinking of azazel saying that to god and being sad about having fallen

Hi! What's your favorite season of stranger things, and what's your favorite episode overall (from any season)?
my favorite episode by FAR is dear billy. im rewatching the fourth season with my friend rn and we just watched that one today. running up that hill is my favorite st scene ever. max is my favorite character and i really love that shes the center of undeniably the best scene of the entire show. i sobbed my eyes out when i first watched it. their song choice is fucking perfect for what max is going through. “i’d make a deal with god and i’d get him to swap our places” and then max later admitting that she wished she died after billy did?? AAAH!!! and just what they did to that song to make it more epic and orchestral oh my god its so fucking perfect. now im listening to that version because its so good.
the way that entire scene plays out is perfect. the ticking sounds when they go back to the real world where the guys are trying to find the tape, a portal to the real world opening when the song plays, her lifting in the air right at the chorus!!! THE FLASHBACKS!!!!!!!!! her running to a portal as everything is falling on her god ITS SO SO FUCKING GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! that scene alone would be enough for me to call it my favorite episode ever but its not even just that.
theres also the one take shootout in cali which is SO well done and so impressive i love that they did it all in one take its so fun to watch. i love mike and wills talk about mike losing him and wanting to be a team. i love hoppers escape. everything about that episode is so perfect. but obviously running up that hill is the biggest reason its my favorite.
as for my favorite season its really hard for me to decide between 2 and 4. i always said 2 was my favorite before 4 came out. but not for byler reasons, i just thought that was a really good continuation of season one. its hard for a debut season to be that amazing and successful and somehow top it with the second season. i loved the whole lab plot and the demodogs and i love that will is the center of the entire season.
but season 4 hawkins plot is really fucking good. if we’re talking about whats going down in hawkins alone i’d probably say 4 is my favorite but the other plots kinda takes up more time than i wish. like s2 its still kinda divided but its all hawkins. i kinda wish the russian plot was shortened or at least joyce reunited with hopper earlier.
i think im gonna say 4 is my favorite season tho. i love how much more horror the whole season is, i LOVE how they had so many call backs to the first two seasons like showing how will talked through the lights and bringing back past monsters like the og demogorgan and demodogs in russia. i like that el was more independent. i obviously love all byler’s moments, but also lumax!!! i feel like s3 they barely showed them but i love how they wrote them this season. its just a really good season.
also unpopular take but i hate when people say they hate the last episode when they obviously only say that bc of the monologue. like ok DID YOU NOT SEE THE EPIC SYNTH VERSION OF RUNNING UP THAT HILL TO THE MONTAGE OF EVERYONE BATTLING VECNA MILES APART FROM EACH OTHER??????!!!

@wibble-wobbegong i am half awake and im putting this here so i dont forget bc i saw one of ur posts about max and mike briefly and smthn abt mike getting stuck into the ud and i might be totally off base and looking WAY too deep into shit but. mike and max might actually also parallel two of my favourite silmarillion characters, Maglor and Maedhros- those two even have the same hair colours as mike and max And similar personalities.
however im having trouble figuring out who is who. maedhros has red hair, yes, but his death is a self-sacrificial active suicide where he jumps into a pit of fire and then is sentenced to the Everlasting Darkness in death until the oath he took is fulfilled by somebody else which ties more into mike imo whereas maglor is doomed to roam the shores of middle earth basically for eternity. maedhros is more openly snarky than maglor, but maglor is more passive aggressive imo.
maedhros is also described as having been 'reborn' after he was captured by sauron (much like max being attacked by henry and then being trapped even after el revives her). however, maedhros ALSO loses a hand, which makes me think of mike losing an arm in the s3 dnd game. Im also staring at mike and ‘hellfire club’ and him being burnt when jason lights the hellfire picture on fire & how maedhros cast himself into a chasm of flame.
but heres where it gets even weirder: maglor and ARWEN parallel eachother too. they essentially have a very similar fate although for different reasons. arwen is a half-elf and therefore can choose a mortal fate, which means that a.) she will have to wander the shores of middle earth until she dies eventually and b.) she will not pass into the halls of mandos in death and instead will face the 'fate of men' which is generally mysterious. Maglor, on the other hand, did not fulfill his oath (just like maedhros), and so, will be sent to the Everlasting Darkness when he dies (just like arwen he isnt getting the ‘right’ afterlife), but in the meantime, still wanders the shores of middle earth.
this is beginning to smell like 'mike gets stuck in the ud'. OR 'max is stuck in the ud/void for the next while'. im leaning towards max almost, because while mike has arwen parallels, the max-arwen parallels are more blatant.
and here's the thing: i know that st seems to reference lotr more than the silmarillion, but maedhros and maglor are some of the ONLY silmarillion-only characters who are still very directly tied to LOTR, as maedhros and maglor raised Elrond together, and Elrond's knowledge of Maglor's fate is what causes him to fear arwen suffering the same fate. so maglor and arwen are paralleled, and maglor is also technically arwen's 'adoptive' grandfather. So somebody like the duffers/the st team, who are DEFINITELY lotr fans, are VERY likely aware of maedhros and maglor, it’s not like maedhros and maglor are some niche characters from the corners of the silmarillion.
SO! I'm not sure if Max is Maedhros or if Mike is Maedhros or same with who is Maglor, but they could also be mix and matching elements of both of them for each of them.
and like. im thinking about all of the 'deal' imagery with running up that hill and 'making a deal with god' because thats LITERALLY what maedhros and maglor did. The gods of tolkien (the valar) are literally SPECIFICALLY known for living on a hill, and maedhros and maglor, alongside the rest of their brothers and their father, swore an irrevocable oath to retrieve the silmarils (which, THOSE arent just gems- they’re representative of LIGHT, they literally hold the light of the two trees inside of them, theyre very very much a literal and metaphorical representation of light in tolkien), and this vow was literally like a deal, that they would retrieve the silmarils and would not rest until all three were retrieved and when tolkiens says ‘they could not rest,’ what he actually means is ‘no afterlife for them’. And so like i mentioned earlier, maedros’ death is a self-sacrificial active suicide where he jumps into a pit of fire and then is sentenced to the Everlasting Darkness in death, possibly until the oath he took is fulfilled by somebody else somehow buts thats not full clear- he cannot even go to the afterlife until his oath is finished, he is stuck in limbo in the Everlasting Darkness.
Smthn smthn max and mike possibly both trapped somewhere, maybe in diff places (mike in the void like maedhros vs max in the UD somehow/henry’s mind, like arwen and maglor wandering the shores), cant come back until they get the light (the silmarils)/their good memories smthn smthn making a deal imagery smthn smthn swapping places imagery
idk what the full tie in is yet. but. many thoughts.
