(yeah obviously this one is a modern classic) 10. viktoria - maria mena (sep 29 2012) (this is ok but it is a bit twee to me these days - i used to like that kind of tweeness but not so much now - i dont think it's terrible just not hugely my thing anymore, also maria mena so powerfully transports me back to when i was starving myself + liveblogging it to the internet + i would rather not listen to her anymore for that reason as well) songs i have actually been listening to lately: (with links! bc they're nice songs) 1. posters - long beard, ryan galloway - long beard is one of my favourite dreampop women - sweetheart is another one of my favourites by her 2. muna - the one that got away - i just love how gay everything they make is, and this song is very fun and dancey 3. welcome to my island - caroline polachek - she's so campy and fun i love her. when she's running on the beach hand in hand with a boar i just love it 4. flower in the dark (synthesised version) - maika loubté - french/japanese singer who sings in french/english/japanese, all these languages combined are v pretty to me 5. unfortunate love - hayden calnin - i think this is a really mid song and a shameless 2011 bon iver rip off to be honest. however it is also very inoffensive + useful if i just want sound in my ear while im doing somehing that needs a sort of melancholic atmosphere such as playing the long dark at night i wont tag anyone bc no one ever does it when i tag them :K and it takes so long to think of people im friendly with on here who wont feel pressured into it :K lol but if you think you'd enjoy it you can do it!! i enjoyed it :)

HIII TŪĪ!!! this was so fun to write thank you for asking!!

fave characters: i have a lot of characters that i love but my most favorites are kazuha, hu tao, xingqiu, chongyun, albedo, benny, ayaka, yoimiya aaand tighnari. there are a lot more that i like but if i had to select just some those would be it i think!

fave 4 star: def one of the three i mentioned before! either benny, xingqiu or chongyun, but its so hard to choose just one.... mmm i think im gonna say benny bc hes very dear to me and has been accompanying me since my very first days playing the game, he has never left my team and i dont know what i would have done without him (i do know, i would have died countless times for sure)

5 stars i have: ive been playing the game for like a year and a half so even being f2p im lucky that i finally have most of my faves! i have kazuha, ayaka, hu tao, albedo, kokomi, yoimiya, xiao, nahida and eula. and from the standard banner, can you believe i only have keqing and mona after that much time playing?? well thats bc i have keqing c1 and.... mona c4. apart from the first 50/50 that i lost, which was with keqing, ive lost ALL the rest with mona and at this rate im sure im gonna get her c6 :'))) hyv stop giving me monas and give one tighnari pls PLS

accidental pulls: i DID have one accidental pull very similar to your case with itto and it was with eula. it was right when i was starting playing genshin and she was actually my very first 5 star. i only did one (1) ten pull on her banner bc xingqiu was there too and i wanted him so bad, but instead i ended up with no xingqiu and one eula that came home at pity 15 and winning 50/50, the luckiest ive ever been and for what... (and the saddest thing is i also didnt get xingqiu until months later sighhh). okay actually it wasnt that bad back then bc i didnt have any more 5 stars at the time so i used her as my main dps until i got ayaka, but now i dont play with her anymore

5 stars i want: since i got kazuha, who i really really wanted and saved for him for more than a whole year bc i lost 50/50 on him the first time (and the second time too... but i was prepared and could get him regardless), now i dont have any other character that i very desperately want as it was with him. and its bc ive been lucky that ive been able to get the rest of my faves too! i mean sure, i do want MORE characters, the ones that id like to get are tighnari, scaramouche (hyv im begging let me win 50/50 this time), nilou, cyno and venti, but i dont have that level of obsession i had with kazuha alsjfdk but yeah when their banners come (back) ill def be pulling for them!

fave teams: and my fave teams!!! im not a meta player and i know there are probably better combinations than the ones i use but idc and im very happy with my teams. so im gonna put the names i have for each team and its members!

permafrost brrrr: kazuha, chongyun, kokomi, ayaka. i loveeee fighting and freezing all the enemies along the way, so this is one is probably my favorite from all these teams. before getting kazuha i used it with xingqiu (hence the name of the team, tho it still works) and i miss a bit playing with xingqiu and chongyun together in the same team but kazuha makes this team even more fun and i like a lot how these 4 work together!

pants on fire!: xingqiu, albedo, hu tao, benny. my team for hu tao! ive been using this one since i got albedo and hu tao last year and ive never thought of changing it ever since, im very attached to it

short kings: kazuha, albedo, xiao, benny. my team for xiao and yes i wanted a team where i could put all my bois together and this one was perfect. a friend that is very invested in meta told me that kazuha wasnt useful at all here but idc bc just playing with them together makes me very happy

papayas quemadas: xingqiu, nahida, kokomi, yoimiya. this team i created it very recently! i was struggling a bit to find the best team for yoimiya and when i got nahida i tried this one and its very fun im liking it a lot! (ajdflsk abt the name of the team it means burnt papayas in spanish, bc the flowers (?) you make with hydro and dendro i call them papayas and then with yoimiyas pyro they become burnt, so yeah :))

queens: kokomi, eula, fischl, beidou. this is a team i have meant for eula using electro and cryo to boost her phys dmg and kokomi too to create electrocharged. i tried it a bit and it was actually fun! but i still need to build the chars better and i dont like eula that much as a character, so i dont really use this one rn. but maybe one day ill finally build them properly and give it a try again!

this was a super long answer but anyway it was a lot of fun to write!!!

death by fright is fun with how it can escalate, ghosts killing people to create more ghosts killing more people... i enjoy the chaos of a very haunted house 😈

i assume this is more about ts4, i hardly ever see sims gain weight in ts2. but in either case nah

of course, i'm not much of a builder tho

hmmmm there's soooo many i consider essential but if i had to play with just one mod i guess it would be the sim blender

ts2 university! and it's still a fave, i love playing dorms

i always assumed it was like aLIVE until the behind the sims summit which was the first time i actually heard someone from EA say it out loud lmao. ive tried to adjust to say LIVing but it still sounds wrong

im gonna go with Clementine Bosden, the C heir of an alphabet legacy i attempted in 2011 (which got nowhere near Z, lol). she's a family sim with 1 nice point which is a hilarious combination to me. pictured here raging in the park for some reason & cheating at chess with her wife (an aged-up Chloe Gonzaga). ahhhh digging up these screenshots makes me wanna pick that hood back up again....

well i have a sub-account on my youtube just for all the sims youtubers i subscribe to so i can keep up with them without it all being mixed in with all my other subscriptions on my main account. but no i don't make sims videos myself. i do like to imagine the sims video essays i would make if i had a infinite time to spend on that sort of thing but i doubt i ever will 😅

20. How has your “sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

my MO is usually to start with one sim, have a bunch of kids & then a bunch of grandkids, get overwhelmed by the number of sims i'm managing & then abandon the family. but now i'm setting up an uberhood to play with LD's story progression and im very excited to see how it goes when i can just focus on one household and let everyone live their lives without me :)

these are so thorough and fun oh my GOSH !!!!

1– werewolves 100%. vampires are sexy in their own right but as a monster fucker i cant resist a big ole fuckin creature, and werewolves are the perfect combination of human intelligence and monstrous otherworldliness. they can be basically just a human with more hair and a tail or they can lose all semblance of humanity and be giant hulking beasts. they're perfect. 10/10

2– sans the skeleton, absolutely. i know he's been sorta transfigured into a meme and hes a silly little guy to me, too, but like also, really and truthfully, he (and undertale itself) came into my life during a time i deeply and desperately needed something to help me feel safe, and sans was that thing for me.

3– there were two, actually!! rise of the guardians and a monster in paris !! i still to this day absolutely adore a monster in paris, it's such a charming film and the soundtrack is phenomenal

4– my "type"..... man thats a hard question. i dont really have a 'type', per say? or at least i dont think so, but there are some qualities that i basically always find consistently attractive! here's a list of em

in reference to this post, here's my dabihawks love child oc

I'll be using multiple picrews to introduce her and compile all the links I've used at the end, in order of usage for better navigation (i edited some for her eyes). this is gonna be a long post lol rip ur screens

Name: Takami Hidori

Birthday: May 5 (Taurus)

Age: 23

Height: 5'8 ft (roughly 173 cm)

Quirk: Phoenix from the Ashes

I'll start her introduction with a story- I didn't plan her name. On the search for the characters that could translate to phoenix, I stumbled upon hinotori (火の鳥) (after rejecting houhou 鳳凰 out of fear I use it incorrectly/had little knowledge on its usage). I rlly liked hinotori and planned to just use that despite being kinda long, but when copying the characters I accidentally erased the "no" and we're left with Hidori, which is much catchier and literally just means fire bird. i think someone's alr taken this name for their oc- im sorry idek if im right- but my oc is completely unrelated to theirs, if so!!!

Hidori's quirk is powerful, and her eyes symbolize the way Dabi's and Hawks' quirk harmonizes in hers. She inherited Hawks' wings, as well as his telepathic control over them (tho she's not as in sync with said telepathic powers over her feathers as her father, but still). Her bird instincts are kinda watered down tho, and it's mostly just in how her wings either harden (like knives) or soften (like how feathers are supposed to be) depending on her mood. She also inherited Dabi's fire- she can control it, unlike her emitter type dad; she can control the fire's path, strength and can put it out

When she was small, Dabi and Hawks had panicked when she showed signs of inheriting Dabi's fire. Dabi, especially, was scared of their child getting hurt by her power but a trip to the doctor's informed them that while Dabi didn't inherit Endeavor's more fireproof constitution, Hidori did, albeit it's still recessive and only won because Hawks lacked emitter-resistance genes. The doctor promised her body could handle it, and had enough resistance to handle even second degree burns without harm. Dabi still insisted on getting her blockers until she was at least in middle school and Hawks agreed

The biggest kicker of Hidori's quirk is how she got the name. Unlike Hawks who needs a week at most to recuperate from the loss of feathers, Hidori can regenerate up to three times in a single row by burning her wings and letting new feathers grow. Another trip to the doctor's confirmed that this was what her quirk thought was best when combining both of her fathers' quirks and no, neither the Takamis nor the Todorokis have a regeneration quirk in their near family tree

Her best friend (who claims to not be friends in a Bakugo reminiscent way) is Miruko and Shigaraki's child- Seiko. This picture was instigated by Hawks ofc. Hidori barely remembers anymore but apparently she had insisted on wearing the suit if she and Seiko ever got married, and Seiko had even agreed

Seiko inherited most of his mother's traits, and that included her height. By high school, Hidori was alr a head taller than him. Which was fine, he didn't sulk too much about it, he even rides Hidori's back sometimes and calls her a giant... dog. Like best friends do (ill def make another post for seiko lol)

Hidori cuts her hair on impulse one time- during a much due but constantly put off identity crisis. Her fathers let her do as she pleased ofc, Hawks even asked if she wanted to try out dyeing it when they went to the salon (she declined, bc she liked looking like the taller version of Hawks, but he didn't need to know that)

More about her:

- She is very dependable, but at the same time reckless. Sociable, but somewhat closed off. She's all of the best and worst of her fathers lmao

- She is pansexual and genderfluid, fine with any pronouns. She got top surgery later in her life too

- She is an underground hero. Both of her fathers tried to keep her away from anything related to heroism but when she persisted, they supported her

- She got Dabi's stubbornness and Hawks' natural charm, she's a menace when she wants something

- She is spoiled by the Todorokis. Shoto in particular used to steal Endeavor's credit card and buy her ice cream when she was small

- Speaking of, Endeavor really really likes her (he was closed off when he learned about Hawks and Dabi but warmed up to his grandchild soon after). Her dads make sure Endeavor gets as little time with her as possible tho

- She has plenty of aunts and uncles from UA bc of Shoto insisting she gets dropped off when he was still studying. Even now when they've graduated and are heroes, Hidori still receives a ton of envelopes in new years and her birthday

- She's a UA graduate herself, top of her class and class pres

- Tokoyami mentored her during a few work studies!!

- She used to get easily motionsick when she first started flying, but it thankfully got less intense when she started training

- She plays the guitar, often too

- She likes photography, catch her insta looking straight out of a Pinterest moodboard

- Her hair used to be such a mess esp since neither of her dads knew what they were doing. they're naturally curly, but when she grew it out it got less curly due to gravity (true story lmao)

- She used to model. Key words are used to (yes it was for the Bakugos leave me alone)

- She can't stand the cold, she and Hawks uses Dabi as a portable heater during winter

- Auntie Rumi loves to team up with her, if only bc her own child reminds her too much of herself

- She went through the seven stages of cringe grief during her teen years and no i will not elaborate

- She is very artistic, and in her days off work she paints- bc ofc she bought a studio for her art the first chance she got

stray kids x camp half blood

so,,, i love stray kids. a lot. i also absolutely adore the percy jackson series,,, do you see where I’m going with this.... yeah so this is my take on where i think stray kids would be at camp half blood!! this is going to split into 4 different parts, with two boys on each post!! first up is chan and minho !!

Bang Chan- child of hermes

chan gives me big luke vibes except he doesn’t resent hermes that much (well a bit, but everyone resents their godly parent just a tiny bit). chan is the oldest kid at camp half blood and is the head of hermes cabin bc he just,,, exudes leadership qualities that he’s essentially chiron’s right hand man and helps him to organise all camp activites and timetables for everyone’s classes. chan’s been there for the longest as well, though he never divulges why he’s been there since he was like 5 years old. he’s the one that all the new kids look towards, especially the ones who haven’t been claimed by their godly parent just yet and when they do, he wishes them well and helps them pack all their stuff before leading them to their new cabin. “chan you’re just taking me to my new cabin please don’t cry it’s not that big of a deal” “oH iM SoRRy i RAiseD yoU sInCE yOu goT hERE?? you think im SCARED to cry nah these are manly tears i’ll cry enough to burst the dam,,, the hoover dam” “okay bye dad” “.... bye kid”. chan is also like,,, the best allrounder because quite frankly,, when you’ve been at camp as long as he has well,,, you get to practice a lot. he leads a lot of the sword practices, especially for the younger kids who just got there but y’all KNOW as soon as he gets an ares kid he just SIGHS and readies himself for how aggressive they’re gonna be, but he secretely relishes it bc,,, well 10 year olds are really boring to spar with. being a kid of hermes,, chan’s fast. like really fast. it’s not like superspeed or anything but it might as well be with how fast he just zips around and he’s also just really quiet when he moves around. Despite being a kid of the trickster god, he spends most of his time trying to stop his kids from pulling dangerous stunts and pranks on Mr D in particular,, tho if it’s funny,,, he might just turn a blind eye to it. so despite being the dad of the camp he has his own precious group of friends which surprises and also doesn’t surprise a lot of people bc he’s so friendly but like,,, a lot of the younger kids are shocked he’s so friendly with changbin and minho bc like,,, to the younger kids these older boys are scary but then they see chan tackle changbin to the ground in a bear hug and they’re like,,, okay damn I guess he really doesn’t care for the infighting between the gods bc they all get along so well ?? so yeah,, head camp councillor chan is just a big softie with a penchant for collecting kids and has a weird friendship group combined of people from different cabins that really shouldn’t work but it does. he loves them all tho.

lee minho / lee know- child of apollo

oh yeah i’m going there. archer extraordinaire lee minho himself. got claimed by apollo when he was like 8 when he was playing with his friends and he threw something and it was definitely going to miss but guess what,,, it didnt. apollo was like,, alright damn that’s my son guess i ought to get him outta here. next thing he knew, minho was at camp half blood not quite understanding what was going on. chan took him around on his first day and as soon as he saw the archery setup he rushed over and well,,, perfect bullseye every single time that even the rest of the apollo kids were like,,, okay what. so yeah,, he’s the ace of archery but he’s so damn annoying about it?? like no matter how many times chiron has to ask him to teach the kids he’s always just like,,, no they’ll never be as good as me (he does help them eventually bc he’s actually a great teacher and chiron knows it,,, minho just doesn’t like teaching that much,,, but when he sees the younger kids hit a bullseye for the first time he’s so proud of them, especially when they’re not an apollo kid bc he’s just that good at teaching!) minho being naturally talented at archery did not translate well over to healing,,, felix is always makes fun of him bc minho is just so good at being an apollo kid but he really isn’t that good at healing (changbin likes to say it’s because minho is apathetic, he gets hit a lot for that). he,,,, just isn’t good at remembering how to do anything more complex than cleaning a wound and sticking a bandage on it but he is EXTREMELY good at distracting patients and helping the other apollo kids who are good at healing, like if you’ve got a broken leg or smth minho is sure as hell gonna make you laugh and forget about the pain!!! all the new kids are a bit confused when they see minho as the head of the apollo cabin bc they’re like,,, he’s so stoic and handsome,,, and then he pulls a funny face at the younger kids and wiggles his eyebrows and they’re like okay no that makes sense now. minho may seem unapproachable but he’s one of the funniest kids at camp especially among his little group and has even been known to make the Aphrodite kids blush with how handsome and goofy he is. mess with his little brother felix though??? you better sleep with both eyes open bc he might just take one of them out if you only keep one of them open. (you think he’s joking,, and he is,,,, maybe). oh, yeah and he owns three rescue cats that had wandered into the camp by accident. yes they sleep in the cabin with him. Do not question him. (chiron already did and the whole of camp outvoted him so yeah,, the kitties stay)

Daily Blog #3: August 10, 2021

Getting up today was weird: I woke up at 6:00 and couldn't fall asleep again until around 7:00, but then proceeded to sleep until 9:00. This gave me over 8 hours of sleep for the night, which should have been more than enough, but I was mysteriously tired all day.

I just went about my business, neglecting to eat breakfast, until my mother decided that she wanted to go out for lunch. She chose to go to China House, so I said to call and see if they had anything vegetarian, or else I'd just stay there and eat something else because, quite frankly, I didn't care enough to bother. She refused to call and made me go along anyway.

I didn't bring my keys or license outside, because she didn't bring it up, so she proceeded to oh so reluctantly drive my car and complain about it for the 2 minutes we were driving.

When we got there, she yelled at me again for not having my wallet, despite her not mentioning it at all, because that meant that she had to carry her own purse instead of putting her cards in someone else's pocket.

So the restaurant was closed, and I told her she would have figured that out if she called about the meal options like I asked, but she turned that on me and said that I should have called, even though I didn't want to go.

We ended up going to some other place, which was fine. Didn't really have any arguments there; I just ate.

We got home and I immediately grabbed my wallet and my bag and headed to Community Aid.

I hadn't mentioned up until this point that I was wearing some green skinny jeans and a blue top, which I'm honestly digging rn.

Btw, I use my shaping underwear several days in a row by wearing another pair of underwear inside of them so they don't get dirty. They're like $12 a pair, I'm not buying 5 of them xD. They're honestly great tho and I'm so happy that I bought some.

IN COMES MY MOTHER, AS IM WRITING THIS, TO TELL ME THAT I NEED COUNSELING.

I AM SO FUCKING fed up with her narcissistic, controlling, and manipulative ass. "Maybe the counselor can help you see that I'm not an asshole." YOU LITERALLY YELLED AT ME TODAY FOR NOT HAVING MY WALLET WHEN YOU DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING BRING IT UP!!! YOU SCREAM AT ME IF I MOVE YOUR PURSE TO USE THE TOASTER, AND SCREAM AT ME DOUBLE IF IT'S AT 10:30!!! YOU CALL ME A FUCKING WEENIE AND A PANSY FOR NOT WANTING TO KILL ANIMALS AND EAT THEM!!! YOU LITERALLY PUSHED ME BACK INTO MY TRANS CLOSET FOR A MISERABLE 2 YEARS BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T READY TO ACCEPT THAT.

And yeah. I need counseling so I can have a better relationship with you. That's the ONLY fucking reason she's given me; not so I can learn to love myself after spending 2 years forcing myself to believe I was a man and having issues with my weight that you put upon me. NOT so I can try and get rid of this disgusting internalized racism you've taught me or wean me off of my extreme dependence on my partner, shopping, and electronics from a lack of love and connection for 17 years, but so I'll like you.

FUCK OFF.

Anyway, I went shopping at Community Aid today for about 3 or 4 hours, and ended up trying on a ton of pairs of pants and a ton of tops, but only leaving with a bra, 4 pairs of pants, and 6 blouses that cost me $12 in total. Even though looking through every shirt they had felt tedious and tiring, it still beat staying at home, especially since I can keep replacing my male wardrobe now.

I got home and sat down to watch YouTube, but passed out for about an hour; like I said, I was really tired today for some reason.

When I woke up, I ate dinner and then grabbed the PlayStation, which I was yelled at for again despite my mother using the TV, and played some Apex and talked to people while my new clothes (and the ones I had worn throughout the week thus far) were going through the washer.

I put them in the dryer after a bit, put the game down, and started a movie, only to realize the right surround stopped working. This prompted me to replace the 8 different audio cables I was using to supply the 2 surround speakers with some longer, more durable ones I had just gotten from the school. They almost reached both speakers without having to combine cables, but the left speaker was a little too far away, so I just joined it with another cable and called it a day. Both speakers are working now, and that whole process took about an hour.

By this point, my clothes were done drying, and I grabbed them, folded them, and put them away; I know I'll be wearing one of those blouses to work tomorrow.

I sat down in bed, told my partner I was gonna write this, started writing it, got interrupted by my mom, as you have just read, and that brings us to where we are now, with me finishing this story up. All-in-all, not the worst day I've had, but it could've been a lot better. Oh well.

It's not all bad; at least I get to be myself when I'm not home.

If you've read all of this, thank you. Means a lot that I can just talk and rant here; really helps me out. I think I've been feeling more mentally healthy since I've started this blog.

Hello! I am sorry to bother you but I am a senior getting ready for college this year. I am in the US and I wanted to major in the same thing you did, do you have any possible tips for me? I still haven't even looked for colleges that would be best for animation majors so I figured if you were up to giving out any tips/saying any basic ideas if you wanted to/if you had the time to then maybe I'll have a better idea! I apologise for if I sound weird! I'm tried to word it correctly but I can't 😿

hi!! i’m totally down to share my experiences! someone else also had some questions so i’m going to put them all together in this post haha, hopefully this helps! it’ll get pretty long so apologies ahead of time but art school is a lot to think about so i wanna be as helpful as i can around it, its a lot of time and money. I’m gonna put it all under a read more cus it is really really long!

i wanna start off with the fact that I had the privilege of attending school in a financially stable environment, my parents were/are really supportive so w merit scholarship i only came out with around 20-30k in debt and i also had housing support my entire time in school. they were ok with me focusing on academics so i didn’t hold a retail job unless i was out of school like summer/winter break. Ofc though i regularly take commissions/do merch/cons to try and pay for all bills that arent rent cus i did want to be financially independent where it was possible. I also did try and work during the semester but everytime i did my body would deff start to breakdown from the fact that i didnt wanna compromise schoolwork with jobs.. so just read ahead know this experience is from a student who was able to attend focusing only on school work for most of the time!

the biggest thing is knowing art school is not required to become a professional in either freelancing or industry! there are a huuuge amount of online tools and classes these days that provide the exact same education and for cheaper too. i think it depends on what experience you prefer/can handle/want but it’s definitely possible to make art/animation art your living without higher education. the thing that college will for sure give you though is the ability to meet deadlines, work even when you dont want to, and connections with peers+teachers. i think the connections part is invaluable because you’re basically coming out with a network of people you already know and who know you!

also its good to know if you want to attend/can handle art school! it’s a lot of time and energy and students get burned out really fast. the best piece of advice i got before going was ‘if you draw every single day, even if its for only like 5-10 minutes or a doodle for a whole year you should be fine’ consistency is super key because you’re attending school to draw, and you’ll have to create work for stuff you aren’t excited for at some point or another. burnout is extremely real and the only reason i didn’t experience it was probably because i got super into drawing naruto fanart again inbetween sophomore and junior year! it helped give me something to draw seperated from school which is the only thing i was drawing for since i had entered rip. a heads up id also consider myself a workaholic so i fit in ok with the ‘art school’ environment but it is suuper unhealthy. if you are fantastic at managing your schedule then it’s definitely possible to take care of yourself! freshman year i got 8 hours a sleep a night and only pulled all nighters for some second semester finals at the end. sophomore year + up though i ended up prioritizing hw over sleep and like for sure, definitely shortened my life span. there’s another q down below where i’ll go more into detail but ya, be careful w ur work balance!

another tip especially for animation is knowing for a fact what type of animation you’re looking to go into, and what the school is offering. I didn’t think i’d get into art school at the time so i only applied to two places + decided if i didnt get into either id attend community to get credits out of the way while building portfolio. honestly? i did not do a lot of research LOL but like i did end up having the chance to tour and stuff! just know that each school will have a very different curriculum. The main differences are schools that prioritize 3D (cg animation, cg modeling, ect) and 2D/traditional (hand drawn, ‘oldschool’, digital or traditional based) this is a huge difference so make sure you do research for it! in most cases a 2D/traditional program will also offer 3D since it’s at the forefront of the industry animation wise rn. My school taught 2D but like hand drawn on physical paper 2D, frame by frame. while it was a good experience it’s super outdated because digital tools make it way faster + easier! i’d recommend looking for a program that is digital 2D over traditional 2D.

if after your senior year covid is still affecting campuses in the US to keep them shut down i’d recommend attending a community college to get credits and then transferring into school. one of the negatives is paying money for gened classes when ur not there for them; if you can get them out of the way sooner and cheaper there is absolutely no negative + you could graduate earlier or use the extra time for better work or to work a job!

these are all the general tips i think i’d give on like a broad basis of attending or not to think about? let me know if u have more q’s! someone asked q’s im answering below that go more into personal experiences + work culture so heres those:

- how many hours a week do u spend studying, in class, otherwise making art? like how much of ur life does it consume?

I was basically working on art.... 24/7! since i wasnt working a job at the same time i crammed as many credits as possible into my schedule so on avg i did 18 credit semesters (around 6 classes) art classes go for 6 hours and non art go for 3, so i’d spent around 30-35 hours in class a week! hw wise it varied on the class but combined it would be around 35-50 hours a week... im guessing? on average studio classes would have 8-10 hours of hw, maybe 5 for a light week, and gened classes 5 hours w them all combined. or this was probably how things were before junior year? junior+senior year i had thesis + everything else ontop.. i’d spend around 30-40 hours on thesis a week with other classes ontop of that bc my film was super long cus im a dummy!

- is it hard going to art school n realising that altho u were probably quite talented… so is everyone else? Like. all of a sudden. ur not special and everyone seems as good as u, you know? More generally, how do u deal with comparison?

kinda?? i think instead of the idea of like you vs others it feels more of like a competition at first to be the best. this varies hugely on school culture though; my animation year was really friendly with each other and get along extremely well, so my answer to this is v different than some others who attended different schools. i think that the idea of ‘comparison’ only lasts a portion of the first year because at some point you realize that it’s not a who’s better as much as its a ‘these are my coworkers’ type thing? like healthy competition 100% because we’re all working to improve but i think most of us learned pretty early on that viewing each other as peers going into the same workforce helped a lot. also at some point everyone develops their own style/starts to develop their artistic preferences so there isn’t a way to compare whos 'better’ anymore? i dont think there ever is tbh because style is appealing based off of an individuals preferences. If anything realizing everyone else is also amazing makes you wanna work harder ig? or thats how i felt! it’s inspiring to be surrounded by so many people who create such amazing work.

- is there a lot of workaholic culture? all nighter culture?

100000% there can be a workaholic and all nighter culture. i know people who avoided it and thats honestly fantastic because i fall super easily into that pit. sometimes i’ll pull all nighters on a personal project just because i really want to finish it... i am definitely considered a workaholic all the way through and its not healthy rip... i’d estimate at the worst i was pulling 2-3 all nighters a week and only 4-5 hours of sleep on the nights i didn’t? that was only for one year tho, after that i was like yeah ok this is really bad for my health in the long run LOL so i tried to cut it down to one all nighter a week and around 5-6 hours of sleep the rest of the week! by senior year my decision to cram in full semesters paid off and i was able to consistently get around 7 hours of sleep a night + no all nighters minus finals since my schedule was lighter despite thesis 😭 while there is that culture i don’t think people view it as like a badge of honor or something to be proud of anymore which is good, we mostly view it as a flaw of the art school system and something that needs to be fixed!!

- are you glad u did it? how did u know it was what u wanted?

i am glad i did it! i’m definitely in a limbo right now of if it was worth both my time, money, and my parents money rip but i think with what i got out of it i definitely wouldn’t be as far skill wise or knowledge wise when it comes to the art industry. i would say it was only worth it for be because i had so much support going in though so i was able to focus so much on improving. if i had only been able to put in part of the effort and not make full use of the resources provided i would honestly have a different answer..

i knew it was what i wanted when i realized i really couldn’t see myself pursuing a different profession happily! despite all the bumps and stuff im fully in love with drawing still and feel honored that it’s a field that can provide a living. my second profession choice was to go into culinary school? and third option i think going was into music cus i was also a band kid hehe.

- how do u cope with ur hobby becoming ur job? how do u deal with art going from something u do for fun to something u do on command constantly?

i think seperating work art from personal art is important! in my case im doubling naruto into being personal work so i have something to fall back onto that isn’t work related. its been a hyperfixation for 12+ years? so drawing it at this point is just like personal art imo. some people have hobbies outside of art and only draw for their job! i think after attending classes for so long the idea of hobby turning into job feels extremely natural? also i enjoy doing it so thats a huge plus!
