Armand Hammer & The Alchemist - Haram
Armand Hammer is a fucking dream team of underground rap legends with Billy Woods and Elucid. This album is definitely one of their strongest. Especially considering that The Motherfucking Alchemist actually produced this record whos a legend himself.
This one is choke full of references to the rap scene. Probably my favorite is when Billy Woods says “Kendrick Lamar where you at??” This was during that huge gap after Damn where he disappeared. This feeling that the last great has left and that the scene is devolving. The apocalyptic aesthetic mirrors their political commentary about the end of the devolving nature of American society.
Basically this is two legendary rappers rapping over production from a legendary producer. Fucking LISTEN TO IT!

A Ghost's Pumpkin... Spice?
youtube
I made this jazz-hop cover of "Pumpkin Hill", aka "A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup" on a whim last month, and decided to release it for Halloween weekend. No vocals on it, just jazzy hip hop vibes. Grab it on your favourite music platform, and let me know what y'all think.
Single artwork was provided by the homie Newtaboot.

Ghostface Killah / BADBADNOTGOOD- Sour Soul
This album I feel is so fucking underrated because it’s a collab between two artists who’s most popular work was either a good while ago (Ghostface) or hasn’t resulted in people checking out their other music because they got tik tok / fantano cursed (BadBad). But this album is incredibly fucking good.
The beats are all amazingly smooth. They feel like nice cool polished wood. They slide and bounce and are perfectly produced. In addition, Ghostface is rapping his fucking heart out on this thing. You can tell he didn’t just want to put out some late career money making record and really cared about the shit he was talking about on here. So many of the lines on this thing are ingrained in my brain from so many listens. The way the instruments pop into place with Ghostface riding along. It’s just such a beautiful record. Absolutely a must listen imo.

A2G EP (1999), Nia (1999), Blazing Arrow (2002), The Craft (2005), Blackalicious
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Few artists’ legacies could withstand something so wincingly, catastrophically uncool as Daniel Radcliffe rapping the entirety of one of your tunes on late night telly, but Blackalicious’ rep seems mostly intact. While much of the duo’s rippity-rappity bar-slinging might now seem very dated, one cannot listen to these tunes without hearing incalculable influence over the sounds, styles and approaches of several decades of underground hip-hop.
Pick(s): ‘Deception’, ‘Shallow Days’, ‘First in Flight’, ‘World of Vibrations’
