okay so after re-watching across the spiderverse for the third time (yes I have a problem shut up) I basically BOOKED it to the theater that was playing the miraculous movie and although I can barely understand a word of french the animation was expressive enough for me to still have some thoughts though I’m sure they are limited without proper access to the dialogue (so keep that in mind if you care about spoilers lol) anyway I need a place to put all this so here we go (in no particular order):
- I completely forgot this was a musical until the first song played and so did everyone else in the theater based off their groans of indignation
- basically every time they started singing the whole theater groaned very loudly and it almost got annoying but that could be cause I can’t judge the songs properly yet as I literally don’t understand them
- they also groaned and laughed a lot whenever adrien was getting emotional which????? made me annoyed because he’s one of the few boys in popular media who is shown to be soft and emotional as a strength and honestly the movie just turned it around and played it for jokes and it lowkey pissed me off
- they played careless whisper twice during scenes where adrien is simping too hard and a lot of people found it funny but I thought it was weird and uncomfortable but maybe that’s just me
- oh and about the songs whoever the singer is for Marinette does NOT sound like the regular speaking voice actor and it sticks out like a sore thumb
- again this could be because I’m missing out on the dialogue but I fear some people on tumblr were right when predicting this interpretation of Marinette :/ her only personality traits are being clumsy, being anxious, being bullied, being friendless, basically being like Bella Swan which no disrespect to Twilight fans but I MISSED my Marinette :( the thing I love most about her is how absolutely batshit insane she is and how good of a leader she is and how even the things this movie portrays are almost coded like ADHD and an actual anxiety disorder in the show not just an “uwu sad I’m not like other girls” trait
- also while I’m complaining I’m so sad they didn’t delve more into some of the side characters from the show like I would’ve loved for the movie to focus on the OG team of Carapace, Rena Rouge, Queen Bee with the main two or even just if it has a side plot with Luka or something it would’ve been nice but I also kinda get it because a movie has significant less time than a show to go into stuff like that
- also Alya and Nino’s relationship was so botched too because Nino is like a blubbering mess around her which??? the whole point of their relationship is how Nino realizes he likes and then loves Alya because he DOESN’T stutter around her like he did when he had a crush on Marinette and it’s supposed to provide this parallel to Marinette to show how being in a relationship can be steady and calm but whatever I guess we don’t care about any of the side characters now
- anyway Tikki raps at one point and for that alone I think Jeremy Zag should be arrested
- GABRIEL HAD LONG HAIR WHEN HE WAS YOUNG AND HE LOOKS SO STUPIDLGJF
- someone on Letterboxd called Adrien a wattpad bad boy again idk if that’s true cause I didn’t understand the dialogue but pls keep it in mind as you watch it
- a lot of people are praising the animation and on the one hand I think it’s earned because oh my god the action scenes are BEAUTIFUL but on the other hand the characters sometimes have this weird flat, lifeless vibe to them like a character from an illumination movie and idk it was weird
- granted the flat lifeless vibe could’ve been from the weird editing there was such a lack of establishing shots for so many scenes it made me disoriented about where a character was or what they were doing
- also the director refuses in every scene with Marinette and Alya talking to frame them in any interesting environments or angles ever it’s always the same flat and boring shot where they face the front like a sit com character
- anyway the third act was the best because it’s basically all actions scenes and it looks fucking fantastic 😌
- THE AKUMAS WERE SO GREAT I LOVED SEEING THEM EVERUTIME THEY WERE ON SCREEN AHHHHHFH
- even Gabriel looked less ugly in his Hawkmoth mask believe it or not
- I think there’s a chance ladynoir stans might have a good time with this cause there’s a lot of scenes with that dynamic even if it is offset by musical numbers
- sometimes the animation for musical numbers was very very or pretty and sometimes it felt pretty corny which
- made me think that this could’ve been a better 2D animated film since they’re clearly trying to pull a Disney 2.0 Electric Boogaloo with this film (but I might be biased since I had just watched across the spiderverse for the third time like 3 minutes before watching this)
- but they never delved into any of the world building like ever :/ like they never really show anything about how the powers work so nothing is ever established and they don’t even show all the powers!!!! Marinette doesn’t even use her lucky charms once!!!!! wtf dude
- when Marinette meets Adrien for the first two seconds it’s cute but quickly I got annoyed because they didn’t have her start off disliking him because she thinks he’s like Chloe like they did in the show and I feel like that’s such an important part of their relationship that they just completely ignored
- sorry adrienette stans most of their scenes are just lumped together in a montage lmao
- rip stans for other sides of the lovesquare they don’t get any screen time I’m sorry y’all
-although the end scene being presumedly a school dance is dumb and cliche and way too American for a French movie I did love Marinette’s dress I think it’s very beautiful (though buggachat’s ballgown in beau is still my favorite)
- I swear to god I think the animators made a reference to the joker dancing on stairs scene in one of gabriel’s musical numbers but I could’ve imagined it it was so quick
- also the ending felt very weird maybe I’m too used to fandom interpretations where Gabriel and Adrien being revealed to each other is super angsty lmao but it really did feel too happy of an ending like I genuinely don’t know if this is realistic for the characters
- or maybe it is but it’s just realistic for worse versions of the characters !!! because although this could be cause I missed all the dialogue but I swear gabriel doesn’t come off as abusive as he is in the show he just kinda gives off the vibe of a regular bad father which is super lame because that’s another part of the show that I think is super interesting
- also I swear to god I think the themes of emotional maturity and processing your emotions in general are just??? not there???? I’ll have to update y’all after I watch it in English but I swear???????????
- this really does just feel like a miraculous version of the mario movie it’s like all the life of the original is sucked out of it and is replaced by hollow references and an implication that the audience already understands everything because they watched the show so the filmmakers don’t have to explain anything which??? bad film makers bad *sprays with a water bottle*
- and listen I get that it’s an adaptation and it’s not possible for it to include EVERYTHING from the show but I was at least hoping for the same heart and/or a different take on the concept but that’s not what this felt like it felt too cheap and corporate and american (derogatory) to even really try
anyway those are just my thoughts and opinions and I am very open to all of them changing once I watch this in a language I actually fully understand but until then WATCH ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE (unless you have light sensitivity issues then pls don't cause I don't want you to die ily) ok I’m gonna go shower now bye

⚠️Cursing Warning⚠️
Well, there’s been a long time huh? But you gotta do what you gotta do, so I will be reviewing today Miraculous Season 5 Episode Multiplication, Let’s get this over with
We start the episode with monarch monologuing to the city AGAIN that he got the miraculous, that he is God now, and that he will not stop until get ladybug and chat noir’s Miraculous
Writers, Astruc, we already know he got the jewels, you made a WHOLE EPISODE JUST ABOUT GETTING ONE OF THEM BACK, YOU DON’T NEED TO REPEAT YOURSELF
We cut to a reporter that isn’t Nadja, but at the same time I still don’t care about her, questioning to herself how monarch got the jewels, and ladybug tells chat that she thought Felix was actually Adrien, and then….
SUHAN! YEY FINALLY, PLS TELL HER HOW AN IDIOT SHE WAS PLSSSSSSSSSSSS
Ladybub: But I did protect the miraculous
Su-Han: then explain how they are no longer in your possession, the 15 are remain in the box including the rabbit!
YESSSSSS SAY WHAT THE FANDOM THINKS, SU-HIN
Ladybug: instead of blaming us why don’t instead you trust us for once
Su-Han: your right ladybug, I should have helped you, instead I let myself get distracted by the modern world
Su-Han: I’ve been a guardian for longer than you have, I’m more experienced and stronger, I should have been a protective shield
Ladybug: fine fine, but please, look everybody makes mistakes so just try find something you can do to help us,
Su-Han: Your right, I will come back to the temple to get some backup,
Su-Han goes away cutely*
…………what can I say about this scene, there’s so much things wrong with it
First of all, he already trusted you before, in the end of “Ephemeral” su-han trusted that it didn’t Mather that you didn’t know each other’s Identify, going against what he believed, and he trusted you the miracle box AND with the ladybug and black cat miraculous, the most powerful ones, he could have just take them away, But he trusted you, SO DON’T YOU DARE TO SAY HE NEVER TRUSTED YOU
Second, that’s the justification for Su-Han have disappeared? The modern world? Really? They are really going with it?
Third, Su-Han blaming himself it’s just so, like yeah he did make mistakes, like not training them, not calling for backup earlier to help defeat shadow moth, BUT MOST OF THE BLAME SHOULD GO TO THE TWO IDIOTS, IF YOU KNEW ANYONE COULD TAKE THE MIRACULOUS FROM YOUR YOYO, WHY DIDN’T PUT A SECURITY SISTEM??? YOU CAN DO THIS SORTA SHIT,
Forth: SU-HAN WOULD NEVER SAY THIS, HE IS SO OFF OF CHARACTER, HE WOULD HAVE CURSED UP EVEN HER PREVIOUS PARENTS IF SHE LOST ONLY ONE MIRACULOUS, IMAGINE THE WHOLE BOX THAT HAVE A MIRACULOUS THAT CAN GO BACK IN TIME
Su-Han, what did the writers did to you? They made you a Chloe, a character with so much potential, that could do so good to the show, but they just... put you away and made you a plot device, this episode officially made Su-Han a Chloe, and I am so sad, he could have trained them, he could have shown us the origins of the miraculous, instead we got… this
They eat the space upgrade powering up to, to? Man, I forgot their names, to… Aught I can’t remember, it was Cosmo bug and…. Star chat? I think that’s it. Sorry is just so hard to remember the name of characters that barely appeared
They upgrade and go search for Felix on his house, but find nothing then they go back home
Marinette goes to her room, and I really like this scene, Marinette comes home broken, knowing that all the kwamis were on monarch’s hands because of her, not knowing what he could do with them, he has a memory of the kwamis playing on her room, she take the box that she used to hide the miracles box, knowing that is over, she sits down lives a look to Tikki, trying to contain her tears, she smiles, and not knowing what to do anymore, she take her phone and call Alya and askes for her to go see her, this scene is so deep, and finally makes Marinette look good after doing a lot of bullshit, because she regrets not being able to protect them, she looks like. Dare I say, a Human being, maybe is just dramatic side speaking but, I love this scene, the purple light just gives more of the feeling to the viewer and the background music is perfect, I love it
While this happen Adrien also comes home, angry about what Felix did, and randomly comes to his mind to talk to his father about no being a model anymore, look I like character grow but, ISN’T THERE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS GOING ON ADRIEN? IT’S NOT EVEN PASSED ONE DAY SINCE IT HAPPENED... COULD YOU AT LEAST DO THIS TOMORROW?
Adrien: Father, I have something important to tell you, But I don’t know how…
Gabriel: get to the point Adrien, you see I’m busy
Adrien: I Don’t want to be a model anymore!
Gabriel: fine, if that’s what you want, is there something else?
Adrien leaves cutely*
Wow, was it that easy? No, I would understand if this is like a that thing “son is afraid of father but the father is a nice dude) but Gabriel Isn’t like that, and you’ve put so much suspense on this, to THAT be the resolution? Or why didn’t Gabriel tried to control Adrien with the ring so that he wouldn’t stop being a model? Who knows who cares
Marinette cries to Alya, saying how much of an idiot she is, and Alya assures her it wasn’t her fault, which is true Marinette was an idiot? Was, but it wasn’t all her fault, it was Felix, Alya is not saying “everything is going to get better” or “you aren’t a idiot” she is comforting her best friend, and saying that there’s no way she could have knew, like a god friend would do, so I am going to give you a point Alya, conglatulations
Mari: as long as I am fighting against monarch, I can’t be distracted by my love for Adrien, I don’t deserve him anyways, I can’t afford to make any more mistakes
Alya: hello, may I remind you, you tried to not be in love with him before?
Marinette: this time thought I’ll do whatever it takes! The safety of Paris is what matters! I have to be the guardian of the miraculous before anything else!
Adrien starts calling*
Alya: well, well well, a boy you don’t love is calling, are you going to pick up?
Marinette: no no no I don’t know him and I don’t pick up calls from strangers
Alya answers the phone*
Alya: Marinette du-pain Cheng assistance’s, who is this?
Marinette: tell him I’m not here
Alya: Marinette is telling me to tell she isn’t here, which is frankly embarrassing
youtube
FUCK, ALYA ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? SHE WAS WILLING TO MOVE ON, SHE WERE GOING TO HAVE CHARATER DEVELOPMENT, SHE WAS FOCUSING MORE ON PARIS AND LESS IN HER CIVILIAN LIFE, PARIS IS IN MASSIVE DANGER, MONARCH HAS THE FUCKING MIRACULOUS OF THE FUCKING GOAT, HE CAN MAKE A ROCKET FULL OF DYNAMITE AND FROW IT IN A BUILDING IF HE WANTS, SHUT UP, IF YOUR BEST FRIEND DOSEN’T WANT TO BE IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ANYMORE YOU SHOULD SUPORT THEM, THIS IS BASECALLY MR PIGEON 72 ALL OVER AGAIN, BUT WITH THE LITTLE DIFERENCE THAT PEOPLE MIGHT GET HURT, SNAP OUT TO REALITY ALYA YOU IDIOT, I’m going to take the point back, sorry not sorry
Adrien tells them he isn’t a model anymore and Marinette says that it is wonderful
Really when Adrien isn’t around, I think Marinette is really sympathetic, but is just her “PrInCe” show up and she became a freak, well there’s a lot of moments that Marinette becomes unlikable even without Adrien’s help, but with Adrien these moments increase, like a lot
Adrien flirts with Marinette, Marinette struggling to talk like a normal being because the show doesn’t know any other time of joke to do with her, Adrien flirts with Marinette, Bla bla bla
Alya: that’s it THAT’S IT, YOU TWO ARE FINALLY GOING TO FALL IN LOVE
SHUT UP ALYA
The next day, Alix’s dad (that I forgot the name) tells everyone that Alix is Bunnyx, why keep secret identities huh? Monarch can’t get her anyways, also isn’t there a tutelary council in Paris? I am not an expert but let your daughter don’t go to school and get in danger traveling from time is illegal, she should be on a orphanage or with some uncle, well they can’t get soooooooooooooooooooooo
The students talk about how they can help Ladybub and Chat Noar even without powers,
And start a montage, the heroes patrolling, Adrien tries to kiss Marinette, Mylene with her yoga classes, Alya sister training, heroes just chilling, Adrien tries to kiss Marinette again, and Alya tries to force Marinette to kiss him, what a good friend! Adrien and Lila scan themselves so they don’t need to model anymore
Yeah, Gabriel hasn’t akumatized anyone for the past weeks, one more for Gabriel is incompetent villain compilation, so everyone is just chilling, the heroes even got some uno, AND ADRIEN TRIES TO KISS MARINETTE FOR THE THIRD TIME, THIS IS ALREADY SEXUAL HARRASEMENT, but a villain shows up after weeks, Ikari Gozen
The heroes transform and go fight the we-are-out-of-money-can’t-make-new-designs villain, now with an upgrade, she can multiply herself just like the mouse miraculous,
Not knowing what to do, ladybug activates her lucky charm getting a fishing rod,
They make on of the copies to trap her sword in a building with the fishing rod line and break the sword, if Ikari Gozen has the multiplication power, why didn’t she just multiply to something smaller to free herself, Miraculous logic? Because there’s only 4 minutes left? Only the writers know, but M.s tsurugi isn’t with the miraculous, so they just give a magical charm and leave,
Then play an ad of a “alliance” that is basically a portable Alexa, and we get Gabriel’s new design,
Tumblr media
It’s just a cheap copy of Richard Sphinx, but worst, because its Gabriel, at least his hair is better than Gabriel original hair, but that doesn’t mean its good, I will give this a 6/10 better than a lot of season 5 designs,
So that’s how the episode ends
Hmm this episode is harder to give a score, unlike evolution it isn’t just bullshit
There are scenes I like, there are scenes I hate, but let’s see
The timing incredibly its not that bad, there’s a lot going on but is not rushed, exempt the akuma fight that was very rushed, I like how Marinette felt like a human and how she wants to became responsible (let’s see how much this will last) I liked the alliance ad, I like that they defeated the akuma as a team not ladybug doing all the work while chat is just on his couch, I like how the heroes got an uno, how ladybug is TRYING to be good hero AND bette person,
But this is miraculous, this isn’t just flowers, Alya is a bitch change your mind, Adrien is a sexual harasser, this episode pulls out of NOWHERE that Ms. Tsurugi and Gabriel are working together as villains, the secret identity rule gets kinda snap, a lot of times the characters just feel so off, like they are not themselves, the fight in a cartoon of ACTION doesn’t last like 5 minutes, Su-Han became a Chloe, people don’t use their brains, and Alya is a bitch, that’s all I have to say, I will give this episode a 5/10 a lot of bullshit, but it's an ok episode
Thank you for seeing and I see you in the next post

As someone who is saddened by the amount of crossovers in the world, have some Miraculous and Hat In Time crossover headcanons. Made it so that the miraculous are the time pieces and are scattered like the time pieces were. The Top Hat is Ladybug so Mari has it all the time.(pls don't hate on me for not canonizing ships):
• Marinette being a human like alien (Hat Kid) arriving on the planet and making friends with Alya (Mustache Girl) while they go around beating up akumatized villains that all live together in the same town (Mafia Town)
• Alya getting kidnapped by Hawkmoth (The Mafia Boss) and being freed by Marinette. But Alya decides she doesn't like Mari keeping all the miraculous (time pieces) to herself so they go their separate ways.
• Mari then goes and helps out rivaling movie directors Zoe and Luka (Conductor and DJ Grooves). She helps Zoe with her western action movies and Luka with his parade sci-fis.
• Mari then ends up in a haunted forest filled with ghosts and she's kinda creeped out (headcanon that Marinette is scared of ghosts) but ends up making a deal with Felix (Snatcher) who rules over the place and all the subconites. Mari loses her soul and ends up running around doing tasks for Felix. Including going to his ex's, Chloe's, manor (Vanessa's Manor). Mari has to fight Felix to get back her soul and leave but succeeds and continues on.
• Mari going to the Alpine Heights would definitely be fun. I think that it'd probably be similar to the temple we saw when we found about Master Fu's (I forgot his name lol sorry if that's wrong) background and that the goats are sentimonsters. So basically Mari has to fight all the sentimonsters that have gone savage before leaving.
• Mari then has a grand showdown against Alya who got ahold of a ton of miraculouses (wait isn't that the ending of season four?!) and all the people she met along the way sacrifice themselves to help her beat Alya.
Adding DLC stuff + side details around the game (and Chat Noir) below but tysm if you read this far! I hope you enjoyed reading the crossover!
Okay so:
• Mari goes on a cruise ship! Run by Su-Han who should not have hired the Kwamis as staff. Felix illegally snuck onto the trip and Zoe is there as well to take some time away from directing films. Everything ends up in chaos with Mari running around doing chores and accidentally crashing the ship (we all know what a klutz she is so yes with how much people struggled on Ship Shape I'm sure we can all agree she would've had to restart the level many times.
• Mari ends up in Nyakuza Metro, run by a gang employed by Chat Noir! (He's Empress, sorry I didn't feature him sooner everyone!) Marinette gets paid by Chat (we all know how rich this boi is) while he keeps the miraculouses she finds even though she'd rather be poor and have all the miraculouses. In the end Chat has to hand over her time pieces because the police showed up and heaven forbid he get involved with them.
(theres too many details for Death Wishes so I won't be including those)
Other side things:
• Nino is player two (Bow Kid!)
• The Owl Express band is definitely the band that the gang has in the series (I haven't watched Miraculous in ages I can't remember names 😫)
• The C.A.W agents (the crows) are all the reporters that keep trying to set up ladynoir.
Thank you everyone who read this, I had to note it down somewhere lmao. I'll try to draw some art at some point! Tysm!

Okay but like the Lukanette story in season 4 is so much more interesting than the Ladynoir story (in both platonic and romantic context). Like one is "two people wanting to date each other but it doesn't work bc one of them is a superhero, both are heart broken but eventually go back to becoming friends, until he finds out about her double life and falls in love even more but hasn't told her yet" and the other is just Chat being like "Ladybug give me attention pls:(" can I get an Amen
literally!!! (also sorry for taking so long to answer this :miss piggy in jail:).
like, you get people complaining about sappy, healthy, smoothly sailing relationships a lot on the bounds that "there's not any conflict" (and i will admit to enjoying the odd dumpster-fire of a relationship now and then, unhealthy ships can be fun) but in most cases, and especially in Lukanette, that's really ignoring quite a few pretty significant factors.
Like you said, the identity shenanigans (which honestly just make me think of Spiderman and Mary-Jane in all the best ways.) are the most obvious conflict, not to mention the conflict of Luka wanting Marinette to be happy and not sure if she’d be happier with him or with Adrien, torn between pursuing Marinette properly and letting her make her own moves for once.
There’s trying to balance out their two different personalities and creative types because Marinette, as much as I love her, is without a doubt an extrovert. She loves people she has to be around them, she feels energised being around her friends. Marinette is loud and bright and sunny. Luka...is not. He meditates and communicates with his guitar and fades into the background. He’s quiet and cool and calming. Trying to find a balance between these two is conflict enough lol, even as friends.
and like, Ladyno!r/ adr!nette hasn’t felt like anything but endgame in a long time. it’s not a question of if but a question of when and that just. it. like it totally nerfs the tension of the romantic plot. like lukanette and Adrigami were never treated by the show as valid threats to the love square shenanigans. Like it was never “oh Luka and Marinette are in such deep ~love~ and have been dating for a season will Adriboo ever win his dearest babysitter girlfriend back?” It’s always been “will Marinette ever stop being stupid and lame and be good enough for Adriboo already?? Jeez!”. The show has always steered the characters away from good alternatives, less by a gentle hand on the rudder and more by lassoing them and running back to the main path.
It doesn’t feel natural or make sense for this to be the narrative’s end, Adr!nette is so forced and clumsy by the writers constantly trying to stuff the ~love~ down our throats. They keep contriving circumstances for ~drama~ like Chat Blanc and Ephemreal to try and keep the attention on the square but it just. It sucks I don’t know how else to put it.

MIRACUCLASS B99 AU???
HEAR ME OUT GUYS HEAR ME OUT
- ok,,,ok listen,,,sabrina as the captain? i feel like that would be so cool?
- YOU BET YOUR SOCKS THAT JULEKA IS THE PERFECT ROSA DIAZ,,,BUT INSTEAD OF COMING OUT AS BISEXUAL, SHE COMES OUT AS LESBIAN (BUT EVERYONE SECRETLY KNEW)
- juleka: i’m lesbian. one minute for questions, go. marinette?
marinette: how long have you known?
juleka: pretty much since i was born. rose?
rose: will you fucking marry me
- but like,,,,alya would make an awesome amy santiago, secretly?
- SKDJSKSM ALIX AS GINA LINETTI
- so like, their entire precinct is a fucking mess mostly bc anarka can’t be bothered cleaning stuff up
- there are several animals which have taken up residence there, most notably a dog named mozzarella (get it?? cause cheddar?? no?...okay.)
- ok ok starting w characters. adrien is probably one of those ppl who mostly stay at the precinct and are completely happy with staying at the building and doing paperwork. occasionally sabrina forces him outside
- sabrina is the captain: shes older than everyone else (not by too much, maybe two or so years) and she’s married to aurore beaureal who stops by a lot. she’s not exactly sure how the captain-ing works, but she’s working on it
- also she adores everyone in the precinct and makes sure she says good morning to absolutely everyone when she walks in. (mozzarella also belongs to her)
- marinette is one of their best detectives, she’s super badass and has secretly been seeing kagami, one of the higher-up detectives
- (rose and juleka both have gaydars, she can’t hide from the lesbians)
- kim is out in the field a lot, works a lot in the shootings and stuff
- max is usually back at the precinct, doing paperwork and making calculations ig. nobody rlly knows what max does, he’s just there. so is sabrina. if y’all have any ideas then pls tell
- ivan and mylene are partners in cri- law, they’re always out solving cases and interrogating people together, and they’re fuckin awesome at their job
- ohhhh rose and juleka!,! they’re mostly in charge of a lot of the undercover type things, cause they’re really awesome at looking discreetly like just another gay couple™️
- ivan: why can’t me and mylene do a couples undercover case?
rose, wearing a matching pink striped dress with sunglasses with juleka wearing a purple counterpart: cause only we can really fucking rock it, ivan
- despite popular belief, rose swears quite a bit
- also juleka is usually the one everyone turns to when interrogations are hard because she’s just so scary when left in a room to stare at the suspects
- ahhhh, alix my beloved
- she’s pretty much a gina linetti, she’s like the unofficial receptionist/counter lady of the precinct
- she also does some cases, usually when everyone else is busy
- but alix mostly deals w the calls that come into the precinct.
- chloé!!! my beloved!!!
- her job is kind of a terry crews? i know it sounds weird but. she‘s the oldest and had a hand in training all these guys
- chloé likes to pretend she’s always annoyed but rlly she’s a total mom to everyone (except alix, who has been trying to serenade her for god knows how long)
- chloé: what’s burning?
alix, leaning on her table: only my love for you
chloé: alix…aliX KUBDEL THE TOASTER IS ON FIRE
- nathanael is the guy who does drawings of suspect’s faces?? yo yo in those shows where a witness describes the suspect and the dude draws them?? yeah that’s him
- marc, his boyfriend, pops in a lot mostly for mental and emotional support
- alya is amy santiago?? thoughts??
- mostly it’s cause i feel like she overworks sometimes to seem like she’s rlly awesome at her job even though she really is. and nino (who would make a freaking awesome jake peralta) is always there to support his gf and be the token straight couple in the precinct
- ok ok now general shenanigans
- juleka and rose are actually the people that most go to for relationship advice. like, if nino and alya are fighting or something, they’d both (separately) go to see julerose and ask them what to do (juleka usually says ‘bone’ while rose says something a bit better)
- also, everyone is convinced that juleka and rose ‘do things’ in the basement but nobody can ever catch them at it so they’re not sure
- ivan and mylene work so WELL together and it’s so awesome to see them out and about
- adrien and rose are in charge of lost kid cases and the such
- one time there was a baby left behind by his mother, and those two took care of him until they found an orphanage that could take in the baby
- (rose cried for a week straight after that)
- y’all don’t know how CRAZY birthday parties get….we’re not going to go into chloé’s birthday that one time……
- oh! luka and kagami! my children! luka works part-time at a pizza place and part-time at the pub that everyone in the precinct goes to
- he occasionally brings them a pizza while they’re working and hangs out w his emo sis and pink future sis-in-law
- kagami, i said earlier, works with the higher-grade detectives and police guys
- she does more awesome spy-like things, but she adores the people of the precinct and makes a point of stopping by (probably to look at marinette)
- aurore is sabrina’s wifey who comes along for cookies and emotional support
this is already too long i’ll write more later
*retreats into hole*

Move to Safety
After Adrien just happens to spy Nooroo in his father's office, he's sent into an panic. His father is Hawkmoth, which means that Adrien is in serious danger.
Thankfully the Dupain-Chengs are more than willing to step up to the plate and lend a helping hand.
links in the reblog
Tumblr media
Adrien didn't know what he was going to do. He paced, he grabbed at his hair, he made a couple stabs at making plans to run away but found big, gaping holes in his plans almost immediately when he actually managed to take a half-step back and look at them again.
His father was Hawkmoth, and Adrien Was Not Dealing.
"I can't sleep here, what if he finds out about me?" Adrien asked frantically for the twenty-fifth time, carding his fingers through his hair. "Or what if he already knows? What if he suspects something and decides to put up a camera on my window? What if-"
"Okay, first of all, I do check for things like cameras and hidden microphones all the time," Plagg said loudly, cutting through Adrien's panicked fog for the first time in- well, for the first time in however many minutes it had been that Adrien had been freaking out. "There aren't any over here or any even pointed in this direction, which is a bit odd considering how often you sneak out but maybe it's because people can't really sneak in this way. Second of all- can't you move out? You were planning on doing that when you went to university anyway, right?"
Adrien nodded, then shook his head. "I'm too young to move out yet, I still have a few months before I'll even be able to sign a lease. And if I move out right away- then he'll know that something is up. It's better not to arouse any suspicions, but I don't want to be close enough for him to get any suspicions about me."
"He's had years to get suspicious about you, though," Plagg countered. "It's not like you just started being Chat Noir."
"Yeah, well, I've had years to get suspicious about him, too, and look at where we are now!"
Plagg looked. His usually picture-perfect Chosen was a frazzled mess in the middle of his room, hair sticking up oddly from him pulling at it so much. He could see where Adrien had been pacing in the carpet, the little loops scuffed more than the ones around them. Scattered pages of notes from his half-baked plans covered the top of the desk, some things circled and others crossed out (and some circled and then crossed out).
It was a somewhat unsettling picture.
"Okay, so first of all, don't let on that anything is different," Plagg said, because apparently he had to be the cool-headed thinker between the two of them now. "If you do, your father will investigate. Second of all, you have locks on your doors, right? Lock them at night."
Adrien shook his head. "It won't make a difference. Father has the keys to all of the rooms. At best, I could set an alarm so that I would wake up if someone came in, but that would be hard to do without anyone noticing. What if I set it at night, had to go out for a morning akuma attack and forgot about it, and one of the maids tried to come in? Then the alarm would go off and Father would be so confused and annoyed and would investigate and-"
Plagg watched, unimpressed. "I think pigtails is wearing off on you with the over-the-top unrealistic panic scenarios."
"They aren't unrealistic! You've seen what Father is like. Paranoid and controlling and- he's a supervillain, Plagg, it's not unrealistic for him to notice something off in the room and wonder about it and then he would try to lock me down even more while he tries to figure out what's going on and why I have an alarm system set up on the interior doors of my room."
...his Chosen had a good point. So Plagg sighed, floated down to desk level, and actually gave it some more thought.
Tikki would be so proud of him right now.
"Okay, so you'll definitely have to tell Ladybug sooner rather than later," Plagg started, because while the discovery was earth-shattering for Adrien, he still had to think like a superhero. "And then, uh..."
Yeah, so maybe he was coming up a little blank.
"Yeah, that was about as far as I got, too," Adrien said moodily, flopping down in his desk chair and spinning around. "I mean, once I turn eighteen and can rent a place, I could just escape at night and run over there to sleep. As long as I set an alarm every night, I should be able to get back here before anyone notices that I'm gone. And I would only need to buy a mattress to keep over there, at least until I move out for good. And at least I can afford it," he added. "All of the money from my modeling and commercials and all the other stuff that I've done- that's in my account, and no one can take it from me. I made sure that the account was entirely in my name last year, when I started thinking about moving out. Neither Father nor Nathalie can touch the money in there, I made sure of that."
That still left several months between now and then which- well, again, not ideal. Maybe they would defeat his father before then, since they knew where to find him now, but if they didn't...
"Lots of sleepovers with friends, maybe?" Plagg suggested weakly. Adrien laughed, then sighed.
"Yeah, I wish. I think Nino might start to wonder if I showed up at his house every night for three and a half months, though. And his parents might call Father, and I don't want that." Adrien slumped in his chair again, then straightened with a yelp when he caught sight of the time. "Oh! Crud, I'm meant to be going over to Marinette's house today so we can all hang out today. I don't want to be late for that. C'mon, Plagg, let's go!"
Tumblr media
Adrien was undeniably, irrefutably, most definitely feeling off. And it was showing. He had lost the last three games of Mecha Strike to Nino, of all people- and he had lost badly. Thankfully his friends seemed willing enough to write it off to exhaustion from too many photoshoots instead of interrogating him on his distraction, and so Adrien got off scot-free.
That wasn't good if he was so obviously distracted, though. Nathalie would see through his squirrely behavior in an instant. She knew that he didn't have an overly loaded schedule- well, no more loaded than it usually was, at least- and she would be more likely to ask question.
He wondered if she knew about his father. She had to, right? There was no way that she could miss it when she was working in the same room as him day in and day out-
-she was Mayura, wasn't she. The thought hit Adrien like a brick wall, and he swallowed hard, feeling a little ill. His father was his family and Nathalie had been like family and they were the supervillains terrorizing Paris, the ones that he had to fight against almost every other day.
He was going to be sick.
How Adrien made it through the rest of his get-together with his friends, he didn't know. It seemed like time flashed by in an instant and then Nino and Alya were leaving, headed out the door together arm-in-arm and without a care in the world. Adrien was about to follow them- now that he was nearly eighteen, he was actually allowed to walk between Marinette's house and his own instead of having the Gorilla drive him for the few short blocks- when a slender hand slid around his wrist, stopping him before he could get more than a couple steps. Confused, Adrien blinked and turned around to see Marinette staring up at him, concern written across her face.
"Something is bothering you, isn't it?" Marinette asked, tugging Adrien gently away from the door and letting it close. "You've been off the entire time that you've been here."
Adrien tried for a smile. "It's nothing, just photoshoots-"
"You haven't had a photoshoot in three days, and you were just fine after the last one," Marinette shot back, and belatedly Adrien remembered that oh, right, Marinette had an open invitation to all of his photoshoots and knew when they were. "And if you were tired, you would have passed out on the couch while we were playing games. Instead, you were almost fidgeting out of your skin. And you suddenly got more distracted partway through- you looked like you were about to be sick."
"Start-of-summer cold?" Adrien offered up weakly. Marinette looked even less convinced, brow furrowed with concern as she gazed up at him. All of a sudden, Adrien couldn't do it anymore.
"My father is Hawkmoth," Adrien confessed in a rush, practically collapsing in on himself. "I was passing by his office today and I saw him talking to Noor- to his kwami, and it was a butterfly, and then he pulled off his necktie and was rubbing this brooch underneath it and why would he hide any jewelry if it weren't the Miraculous? And Nathalie knows, she has to, she's in the same office all day and she has to be Mayura and I'm living in the same house as two supervillains and I can't move out for a year without them getting suspicious and what am I meant to do?"
Marinette looked rather as though she had been hit by a truck, she was so surprised. Adrien winced.
...he definitely could have broken the news better. Maybe she wouldn't want to be near him now, because it would be dangerous to be near the son of a supervillain even though he wasn't a supervillain, he was a superhero, and wasn't that ironic? He had to fight against his own father.
That was really, really messed up.
Marinette's expression shifted from startled to confused, and Adrien heard her mumble "But how does he know what-?" before her grip suddenly tightened around his wrist and she turned his hand, just enough to see his ring glinting in the sun. She let a tiny oh, and suddenly Adrien knew without question that somehow she had just figured out his secret identity.
A soft thud behind them caught Adrien's attention next, and both he and Marinette swung around in time to see Mr. Dupain startle, righting his tray before another loaf of bread could fall off. His gaze returned to Adrien as soon as he had ensured that all of the bread was safe, and- okay, apparently Marinette's dad had overheard him.
He hadn't planned on letting people know, let alone this many. Marinette's family was perfectly normal and completely functional and he shouldn't be burdening them with his family's problems. But now Mr. Dupain was setting down his tray to come over and wrap Adrien up in a hug, and when had Marinette started hugging him? Adrien couldn't help but stiffen up in surprise at first, before practically collapsing into the hug.
Adrien hadn't been hugged like this for so long. Two sets of arms wrapped around him, and Marinette's hands were rubbing up and down his back. It was absolute unquestioning acceptance, and Adrien couldn't even manage to be embarrassed about the tears that he could definitely feel starting to leak down his cheeks. Marinette's cheek was pressed against his, and she clearly had no reservations about holding him close.
"Does your father know that you found out about him?" Mr. Dupain asked, pulling back but only enough so that he could see Adrien. "Or doesn't he know?"
"He doesn't know," Adrien said at once. After all, he hadn't lingered much in the atrium once he saw the kwami- Nooroo, Plagg had called him- before making a hasty (and quiet) escape to his room. In fact, he wouldn't be 100% sure of what he had seen if it weren't for the fact that Plagg had seen it, too, and had even zipped back to try to eavesdrop for a bit. "I left right away, and he wasn't facing the door. But I just- I can't believe that I've been sleeping under the same roof as a supervillain. Two supervillains, if you count Nathalie."
"You don't feel safe sleeping there anymore, do you?" Mr. Dupain asked at once. He was frowning. "I know that I wouldn't."
Adrien nodded, burying his face in Marinette's hair and trying not to sound like he was about to cry. He was pretty certain that he wasn't succeeding. Also, he was definitely getting snot all over her hair, and he would have to apologize for that later. "Yeah. I was planning on moving out once I started university, and of course I can get an apartment once I reach my birthday and then just sneak out to sleep there, but I would have to wait for that."
"And it's very possible that your landlord would still reach out to your father," Mr. Dupain said, and Adrien's head flew up in alarm to stare at him in alarm. He had only done a little research on apartments, enough to figure out that he had to legally be an adult to rent without a guardian's signature, but he had a source of income and a savings account of his own and surely that would be enough, right?
Marinette was frowning, too. "But surely if he asked the landlord not to say anything, they wouldn't?"
Her dad shook his head. "Not necessarily. I assume that you would pick something small and relatively cheap, at least for the time being," he said to Adrien, and Adrien nodded in confirmation. He didn't want to spend too much money right away, after all. "Right. Some of those landlords- well, they're not the best, to say the least. They would know that you come from money and they might try to exploit that. It's not legal, and all you would have to do to get them to back off if they were trying to push for more than what's in the lease is report it, but if something like that happens or you forget to pay on time they might go to your father, and once is all you need for him to find out."
Adrien nodded, his heart sinking.
"And frankly- Adrien, you're still a teenager. You're still a kid. You shouldn't have to be spending your money on essentials yet, and I'm not comfortable with letting you do that." Mr. Dupain glanced towards the bakery, where Mrs. Cheng was still working the front counter. "I'd have to discuss it with Sabine, of course, but- Adrien, we do have a guest room that rarely ever gets used."
Adrien's jaw was practically on the floor at the implied offer as soon as it sunk in. "I- I mean, that would be- are you sure?"
Mr. Dupain smiled, clapping Adrien on the shoulder. "You're a kind young man, Adrien. If you don't feel safe at home, we'd be more than happy to help. I will have to tell Sabine about your father, though, to convince her that we're actually helping and not just trying to steal you away from your family. Not that she would be entirely opposed to that, of course."
If it would get him a place to stay at night, that was fine. He would just have to trust that the Dupain-Chengs wouldn't get akumatized before he and Ladybug could take Hawkmoth down. "Of course."
"Good, good." Mr. Dupain gave Adrien's shoulder a squeeze before stepping back and picking up his tray of bread again. "Why don't you two head back upstairs then? If you can stay for dinner, Adrien, then maybe we can discuss how this is all going to work out?"
Adrien nodded obediently, glancing back towards Marinette. He certainly wouldn't mind staying longer- the Dupain-Cheng home was so warm and friendly, so very unlike his own- and he also had a few things that he needed to discuss with Marinette. Namely, the fact that she had figured out that he was Chat Noir.
Somehow.
Adrien's mind was racing as he and Marinette headed back upstairs. He was trying to figure out where to start. Should he try to deny her discovery? Would she even believe him if he tried? Something told him no.
"We're going to have to figure out how to time things so that your father doesn't catch on," Marinette said as she ushered Adrien back upstairs towards their living room. She sent him a sharp look. "Though I suppose that you being able to just slip in and out from your window makes things easier."
...yeah, he wasn't even going to try to deny his secret identity. Marinette hadn't phrased it as a question. She knew.
Adrien sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. Ladybug wasn't going to be happy about someone finding out his secret identity, but at least- well, at least they knew Hawkmoth's identity, too, so an end to this whole fight was in sight. Hopefully. "Yeah, it makes things a lot easier. But speaking of that..."
Marinette glanced up at him. "Yes?"
"We really need to talk."

Prompt: “I’m sorry things had to end this way.”
**warnings: major character death**
🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂
.
you’re the reason why i came here,
so please don't torture me anymore. . . .
IT’S his first battle without her, and everything’s different.
The new Ladybug is kind, fortunately, but even he, and the entirety of Paris, can tell that their superhero dynamic doesn’t work at all. She’s too headstrong and impulsive, like he is, and they end up clashing heads more than they do the villain.
He knows she’s trying her best— and it’s her first day, really, he’s expecting too much from someone who he’s only just met.
But even then, Chat Noir’s mind flashes back to his first battle with her, how easy it was for them to settle into a rhythm and work together like perfect clockwork.
When they were together, the pieces just fit together without them even trying.
She was— is his other half; and without her, everything just feels so out of balance.
Everything just feels wrong.
Chat Noir only narrowly misses the blast thrown in his direction, as the new Ladybug sharply reminds him to “stay focused”, briefly swinging his way before once again running toward the villain.
“Wait, we should think of a plan first—!”
“This is the plan!” She only responds, before the villain slowly turns towards her, moving with terrifying precision as a blast is suddenly thrown her way.
“Ladybug, watch out!”
He doesn’t hesitate to throw his body towards her, completely taking the brunt of the attack in her place.
(It’s the heroic thing to do. But if Chat Noir’s being honest, it’s more a gut reaction and instinct to sacrifice himself for Ladybug’s safety—
And if he’s being completely transparent, the Ladybug he sees at that moment isn’t the one that’s right in front of him. Because with the rush of adrenaline and that all-too-familiar red suit and expression hidden by a mask, he only sees her.
And saving her is as natural as breathing.)
The blast sends Chat Noir flying backward, as his body practically crashes onto a nearby balcony.
Somebody quickly comes to his aid, leaning over to carefully help prop him up against the railings.
Chat Noir slowly opens his eyes, wincing as the pain spreads throughout his body.
He looks upward, putting on the most appreciative smile he can muster.
“Thank you so much—”
And as the two of them make eye contact, he freezes.
The warm body pressed against his own suddenly feels ice-cold.
“Silly kitty,” she whispers teasingly, a bright expression on her face. “I thought cats always land on their feet.”
His mouth feels dry, and his throat closes up almost completely.
Chat Noir doesn’t respond.
“What?” She asks, smiling softly. “Cat got your tongue?” Her bright blue eyes twinkle, as she leans toward him. “I think I have a way to fix that.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, she presses a light kiss to his lips.
He feels lightheaded, and can only really say one word:
“... Marinette.”
Her smile is much more kind and real than one he’d expect from a girl who has no business being alive.
“Yes?”
.
.
“... how are you here?”
She pauses, a light laugh escaping her lips. It terrifies him. “What do you mean?” Marinette only asks, then points at him accusingly. “You’re the one who stopped by!”
“No,” he only responds, shaking his head to try and think of an answer. He raises a wobbly finger in her direction. “How are you here?” He repeats, then with increasing intensity and alarm: “Marinette, how are you here, how is this happening, how am I—?”
Her hands are quick to grab his shoulders, forcefully shaking him out of his reverie.
“What are you talking about?” She asks, face tilted sideways in concern. It feels so real. She feels so real. “Chat, are you okay? You’ve been really weird today. I’m worried.”
He’s weird? Is he the strange one?
“No…,” Chat Noir only says, backing away from her slowly. “This shouldn’t… you shouldn’t… none of this should be happening…”
“Maybe you should come inside,” Marinette says slowly. “I can get you something from the bakery. I could call your parents, too, if you want to go home. I’m not sure you’re feeling well enough to be here…”
“Wait,” he breathes, slowly. “Parents?”
Marinette only looks at him in confusion, an eyebrow raised. “Are you really not feeling well? I should—”
“I,” he only manages to say, choking up from the sudden revelation. Then, voice quiet, almost cracking: “My mom’s alive?”
Her concern and worry is evident. “Of course she is. They’re at a charity gala of your father’s, but I’m sure they’d come over if you needed them to.”
“Charity gala?” Chat Noir starts, incredulity event. “My dad? He never lets me get out of the house, much less himself—”
“Okay, maybe you really injured yourself,” Marinette finally says, putting a warm hand to his forehead. “Mister Agreste is always holding charity events, and he hates being locked up inside. Besides,” she pauses, flicking his head playfully. “If he never let you get out of the house, then we wouldn’t have met. And we’d never have gotten to date.”
“We’re dating…?”
“Of course, chaton,” she smiles. “I love you.”
In his heart, Chat Noir knows none of this could possibly be real.
His father being lenient, his mother being alive, him having the freedom to do what he wants and even dating Marinette— being able to hold Marinette in his arms, alive and breathing—
This is all a fantasy. An illusion.
(The akumatized villain and the blast hitting him square in the chest remains fresh in his memory.)
But as she looks up at him, eyes filled with love and light and almost bursting with life, Chat Noir can’t bring himself to feel that this an akuma’s doing.
This is everything he’s ever wanted.
It’s a literal dream come true.
“... I love you too.”
.
.
Chat Noir and Marinette go ice-skating.
They watch movies at the cinema.
They have milk tea together.
They have dinner at each other’s houses and bond with each other’s families.
He has meals and goes to parties with his parents.
His mother teases him about Marinette and falling in love.
His father insists that they go on father-son trips.
He hangs out with the rest of their friends without being watched over or following a curfew.
He has them come over at his house, and sometimes they even sleep over.
It’s everything Chat Noir’s ever wanted.
(More than that, even.)
But why does he still feel so empty?
.
.
“This really is the perfect life, isn’t it?” Marinette asks him one night, as they’re cuddled together watching some unidentifiable movie on television.
He smiles, though it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yeah,” Chat Noir only says as she curls closer to him, nuzzling her head onto his chest. “... I guess.”
She turns upward, then frowns lightly. “What’s wrong?”
“I just—,” he pauses, visibly hesitant, before heaving a deep breath. “None of this is real.”
“What? Of course this is, Chat, everything about this is—”
“No,” he only replies, voice stern. “This is a fantasy; a complex illusion conducted by the akuma. This is all a fantasy; all a ploy to get my Miraculous. And using you, of all people…,” he pauses, swallowing down the lump in his throat and trying desperately to keep the tears at bay. “Using that face, parading around pretending to be her… that’s the worst of all.”
“Chat…,” her voice is evidently hurt, and it stabs at him so much more than an illusion should. “I know you don’t mean that.” She grabs at his arm, pulling him closer. “Look, I’m here. I’m real and I love you, see? Please don’t push me away.”
He’s evidently conflicted and suddenly pulls her to him, desperation lining the expression on his features.
“Then if you really love me, please,” he whispers softly, nails almost digging into her skin. “Tell me the truth.”
Marinette pauses, and for the first time since he’d landed in the illusion, sees an expression of despair and loss in her features. “... can’t you just leave things like this?”
“Mari, what…”
“I know I’m not really her, but I have her memories, her thoughts, her emotions. These months we’ve spent together, did I really feel like a fake all that time?” Chat Noir looks down, knowing the answer deep in his heart. “Wouldn’t it be better to just stay here with me? Stay in this perfect world, with everything you could ever dream of?”
“You know I can’t do that…”
“And why not?” She finally cries, trying desperately to rip her hand away from his grasp. “What’s waiting for you there? A life of isolation from your friends? An absent father? A dead mother? Being regularly watched over by someone, never being free to do what you truly want to do?” Her voice softens, as she stares at him— lost. “A life where you’ll never be with me again? Adrien, is that really what you want?”
They come to a standstill.
Then, almost completely silent: “How do I leave?”
She sighs quietly; defeated.
“You have to kill me.”
He suddenly looks up, eyes wide with shock and horror. “What?”
Marinette smiles at him, though it expresses anything but joy.
“You have to kill me,” she repeats. “You have to get rid of the one thing that makes you want to stay. Once I’m gone, I’ll take the rest of this illusionary world you despise with me.”
Despise.
“But I can’t…”
Marinette suddenly snaps her fingers, as their surroundings swiftly demolish and rebuild into the top of the Eiffel Tower. The railings are gone as she’s left teetering dangerously over the edge— his hand, holding hers, the only thing that stops her from completely falling over.
“What are you doing—!?”
“I’ll make it easier for you,” she only responds, voice warm; overflowing with love, in evidently the worst way possible. “Just let go.”
“I could never do that, I could never—“
“You need to let me go, Adrien,” Marinette only says, voice clear and steady. “Let her go.”
“... then maybe I should just stay. I’m not ready to lose you all over again.”
“I don’t want to lose you either.”
“...”
“...”
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“I’m really sorry things had to end this way.”
She laughs softly. ”I know.”
Then, without another moment’s hesitation, Marinette falls.
Adrien doesn’t let go of her hand the whole way down.
.
.
He doesn’t land on concrete.
Chat Noir wakes up to an empty balcony, with the crushing realization that his entire world is gone.
(And she’s never coming back.)

Blanc Noise - Chapter One
AO3 / FFN
Summary:
It first began with the feeling of being watched and the flicker of shadows.
Then along came missing items being returned in the most odd places.
Soon it was the glimpses of blue eyes in the darkness and a silhouette of white that haunted her.
Marinette thought she saved him, that she saved her Chat Noir from the dystopian timeline.
She was wrong...oh so wrong...
A/N: Wassup mah d00ds! I hope you're all doing well and everything! Anyways, on tumblr, I made a quick AU of 'What if Chat Blanc comes back but as a ghost?' and it got lots of positive attention hence I decided to start a full fledged story. After all, I am a fucking slut for Mariblanc~ Big thanks to my good friend @/gale-of-the-nomads for the title name (sometimes, he has a good idea or two despite the amount of terrible puns he spews lol). Nevertheless, enjoy! P.S: The story takes place after the episode: Ladybug. Therefore, Maître Fu is still around, the love square is still going strong and Ladybug is not the guardian. Additionally, I've tweaked the timeline. The duo have now started their final year in collège in September (the events of Ladybug happened just before the summer holidays). Do I make myself clear? Good. Have fun! Song listened to whilst writing: White Silence - TK from Ling tosite sigure
~(x)~ . . . "MmmMhmm! That smells amazing! What have brought this time, My Lady?" The feline hero leapt to his feet, faux ears and tails wiggling with delight and pupils dilating with elation. Ladybug laughed softly at her endearing partner, sitting down on their favourite beam of the Eiffel Tower and beckoning the boy to come closer, wiggling the Tupperware in her hand teasingly. Chat Noir didn't hesitate to scurry towards her, plopping down on the spot opposite the heroine as she placed the container in his greedy hands. If he wasn't such a gentleman, he would have immediately tore off the lid and scarfed the delectable goodies down his throat like the alley cat his Lady proclaimed him to be. "Guess." Ladybug humoured him. "And before you ask, the clue is that it's a savoury dish this time. Don't shake it up too much." She playfully took it away from him and then placed it on the spot between them, grinning as Chat's face scrunched up into a thinking expression. Lips pursed, eyes narrowed and arms folded. Absolutely adorable. "Hm...it can't be steamed garlic prawns. You brought that yesterday." Noir mused. "And it doesn't smell like duck pancakes either." He added, scrutinising the mystery within the container. "You mean the Běijīng kǎoyā? Not after that horrible heartburn it gave you last week." Ladybug cheekily flicked his forehead, earning an annoyed grunt from him. "Geez no need to flex on the Chinese, Mlle. I don't know a lick of Mandarin." He tried to swat away Ladybug's hands when she attempted to poke him for making fun of her, chuckling at her mock angry face. "Okay okay! I'll behave- the heartburn was worth it by the way~ I started to crave for more days after, hahaha-" "I know SOME Mandarin, stupid!" "Insults and crude words do not count, My Lady." "Just guess the food in the Tupperware already or else I won't share!" Her threat froze the black cat comically. Chat quickly blabbered out apologies, clearing his throat and then eyed the container again. The sound of his stomach rumbling broke the silence, embarrassing the hero whilst his partner barely kept in her snickers. "Vermicelli rolls?" "Nope." "Kung-Pao chicken?" "Nah." "...wontons?" "You're getting closer," "Agh...okay from when I shook it, it sounded quite hard and crispy so..." He carefully shook the container once more, ears pressed against the cool surface as he tried his best to identify the treasures. Finally, an idea struck him, evident in the way his faux ears and tail shot upwards. "Aha! Spring rolls! It's spring rolls, isn't it?" His face looked like one who won the lottery and Ladybug couldn't help but coo internally. He was such a dork. "That's right, Chaton. Now, if you guess the correct fillings, I'll let you have some." Ladybug added nonchalantly, eating up the way Chat spluttered and the frazzled gestures he made, eyes begging to let him have the treats already. "Oh come on! You're not that cruel, Bug." He pouted but didn't attempt to snatch away the container. He directed his beady glare at his Lady, arms folded. "...La-aaaaady-bu-uuuuug..." He whined. "Just kidding~ Here, Bon appétit ," Ladybug didn't waste time, tearing off the lid and beckoning Chat to take some of the spring rolls. The boy's eyes widened at the sight of the delicious looking treats. The pastry was golden and crisp, the size of each roll were consistent and big enough to finish in three bites and the enticing, spicy scent made the feline salivate. And, they were still piping hot. Hell yeah, Bon appétit indeed! Without hesitation, Chat took a bite, unaware of Ladybug's anticipating look. . "Holy shit...I'm in heaven..." The teen blurted out, eyeing his spring roll with a tearful look, as if it was too beautiful for him to eat. He shoved the whole pastry in his mouth, moaning in delight without a shame whilst his Lady's tinkling giggles was like music to his ears. What a way to spend the last evening of summer before school. A beautiful summer night, a beautiful lady and amazing food! 'Yes, this cat is content for life,' He purred to himself, smiling at his partner as she offered him another roll. "Thank dieu you enjoyed it. I wasn't too sure if you were going to be keen on the secret ingredient I mixed in with the vegetables." Ladybug twirled her roll, cheeks ever so slightly flushed with happiness. "Is it that exotic spicy scent that I've been smelling this whole time?" "Yes. Maman's friend who's from the south-east gave her these homegrown naga-chillies. They're really, really hot on their own but without the seeds, they're bearable to me and make the vegetable filling taste so good." She bit into her roll as if to emphasise her point. She was blind to the way Chat Noir watched her with a pleasant, fulfilled smile. The warmth that pulsed in his stomach provoked his heart to skip a few beats or so- a standard reaction that the love of his life always gave him. 'I wish you would be mine forever...' His unsaid words were left floating in the back of his head as he nibbled on his food. The duo spent the rest of the night laughing, joking, exchanging bizarre stories without giving away their civilian lives and before they knew it, it was midnight. "Uh-oh...I'm turning into a pumpkin! Save me!" Chat Noir wailed dramatically, curling up into a ball and leaning against Ladybug. Her hearty laughter grew in volume, the girl clutching her stomach as she gasped for a breath only for Chat to join her with his contagious laugh. Soon, they calmed down. With the calm came the thoughts. The crescent of the moon shone like a beacon. The temperature of the summer air started to cool and the beautiful city lights below shone like diamonds. The two were hesitant to leave, wanting to prolong their last summer night. The older of two wanted to spend as much time as he wanted with the girl he loved. The younger on the other hand? She wanted to keep him happy and close. After all, She would rather die than fail her partner again and let him be akumatised. Little did she know how potent her sadness was. The atmosphere turned tense in a flip of a switch, sending shivers down Chat's spine and he was quick to glance at his now, forlorn looking Lady. As if they didn't just have a laughing fit and a mini picnic. It was that damn empty, distant looking face again. The boy under the mask absolutely despised it. He would do anything to get rid of it. "You know I'm always here for you, Bug." He placed his hands on her forearms, beckoning her to look at him. Ladybug refused to meet eye contact so he tilted her chin up with a finger, delivering a soft, sad grimace. "It's been months now and yet you wouldn't tell me what happened. Did you think acting more sweet around me would distract me from your tears?" The girl hadn't noticed her eyes were watering till her Chaton pointed it out and wiped away a stray tear. She knew he was much more smarter and perceptive than most would give him credit for yet she couldn't help but pray that he would leave her be. 'He's always been too good for you. You know it. I know it. So why don't you just hurry up and throw the earrings away so that someone else who's actually worthy of utilising the power can properly look after him?' "I told you, nothing happened. Just silly, civilian stuff." Ladybug tried to shrug him off, quickly wiping her eyes and trying her best to not sniffle. "Let's just go home-" "When will you stop lying to me?" The boy hissed out, tail lashing against the beams in anger and feline ears pressed against his dishevelled locks. His acidic green eyes pierced through Ladybug's being. A deadly scowl that would surely cause the blood in Le Papillon's body to freeze and petrify him. Ladybug tried her best to not show how he surprised her, keeping a poker face and swallowed quietly. However, with the way his hands were clasped around her wrists, she feared he could feel her rapid pulse. Why was it always her that caused his rare anger to rise on an occasion or two? It was simply not fair. How righteous his anger was towards her. A sudden gust of wind swept through their hair, ending the summer season and introduced the newly born autumn with a howl. It felt like ice seeping through their suits. Yet, the polka dotted heroine didn't dare move a muscle, observing her partner with a cool, neutral expression. Chat Noir hated it. He absolutely hated it. It was one of the few faces she made when she was forced to keep a secret away from him even if it took a toll on her body and mind. He felt disgustingly useless. "I'm fine, Chat Noir." Ladybug wiggled her hands to free them of his grip, bringing them to her chest as she glanced towards the city below. "Can we please not do this tonight? Please? I want it to end on a good note." Her wish was met with a defeated sigh from her partner, not flinching for even a split second when his tail whipped against a stray beam. An echo of his anger prior. Just as it was quick to come, it was quick to leave, thankfully. "I'm not give up on you," His resolute tone induced a quiet gasp from Ladybug, the girl herself cut her gaze towards him with parted lips. "But for tonight, I'll let you be." He didn't smile but...he didn't frown either. Reaching for her hands one last time, Chat Noir brought them to his lips. His bold, fiery greens never left her soft, steady blues whilst his lips brushed against her knuckles in a traditional kiss. Taking advantage of her lack of hesitation, he kissed the backs of her hands too and then brought them to his chest so that she could feel his fierce, beating heart. It began to lash against his chest when a light rouge tinted her cheeks. "I'm always here for you, always. No matter what, you can count on me to protect you." Then, with a determined nod, he launched forward and pecked her head before letting go of her swiftly and vaulting away with an impeccable speed. Ladybug remained frozen in her position, cheeks flaming until his figure became smaller and smaller in the distance. By the time she could no longer see him, she sunk to her knees, grasping her chest as her throbbing heart felt like it was going to burst out and explode. Millions of emotions ran through her body, fighting against each other as the memory of him kissing her head replayed over and over again. Like the sweetest of poison. Addicting but deadly. Despite the warm, fluttering butterflies, despite the smooth, softness of his lips, despite the comforting, protective touch of his, Ladybug couldn't help but have the memories of the other timeline flare in her mind like a warning sign. An unwanted threat that has never failed to wreck her mind. Biting her lips, she tried to keep her tears at bay, body shaking and pushing against the sobs that threatened to spill out. She was so tempted to run back to him and tell him everything. To care for him like the way he deserves. To love him like the way he needs. Yet the haunting, crazed ice blue eyes of the past invaded the temporary soaring feelings like a virus, eating away all the positivism and hope she tried her upmost best to maintain. 'You have no right to be happy...' An ugly gloom hooded her eyes, killing all her emotions as she staggered back up to her feet, using a beam nearby for support. The harsh wind clawed through her hair, ridding her trademark ponytails of their ribbons and blowing them away to the other side of Paris. Ladybug simply didn't have the energy to get them back, using muscle memory to swing herself back home. Her ribbons long forgotten. It was a cold, bleak September now. ~(x)~ It was quiet. Too quiet. Standing up from her crouch after detransforming on her balcony, Marinette immediately spun around and glared at her surroundings whilst Tikki hovered close. Not a single sound was heard. Not even the wind. Suddenly, Marinette's heart began to pick up pace as beads of sweat started to form on her forehead. The only thing she could hear was her heartbeat as she felt something weird. Her entire neighbourhood was asleep, evident in the lights out and the pitch black environment. The only source of light in her vision were the few lamp posts on the streets as well as around the park. Yet, she couldn't ignore the feeling of being watched. Not wanting to show fear at a possible stalker, Marinette took large strides till she was at the edge of her balcony, clutching the railings and scanned the scene with more scrutiny. One of the lamp posts merely flickered as moths buzzed around it. The trees simply swayed along with the inaudible breeze. The streets and roads remained empty. Not a single soul out. Marinette exhaled softly, eyes never stopping its study of her surroundings. She took a step back, tension leaving her body bit by bit, leaving an aching throb in her chest. The adrenaline that fuelled her veins vaporised. "I don't think there's anyone around, Marinette." Tikki whispered, clutching the girl's loose strands as she also watched for anything suspicious. "Can we go back inside? I'm cold." "...okay." Marinette glared at the scene from her peripheral vision once more, almost swearing that she saw movement under one of the lamps only to brush it off as paranoia and made her way back to the trapdoor. Since she wasn't paying attention, the teen bumped into her table, almost tripping over her feet but thankfully caught herself. "Eek! Are you okay?" The little Goddess freaked out, flying in front of her charge and scanning her from head to toe for any injuries. She was waved off with a tired smile. "Don't worry, it's probably just a little...bruise...?" A slither of red caught Marinette's attention from the corner of her eye only for her to gawk. There, on the railing of her balcony was... ...One of her ribbons. Inhaling sharply and leaping towards the railings, clutching her treasured ribbon, Marinette spied around the neighbourhood desperately like a hawk. Tikki's presence on her shoulders did nothing to alleviate her stress as sweat from palpitation grew on her palms. Her mouth on the other hand ran dry and she refused to blink. She didn't dare to tremble. She was Ladybug. Nothing should scare her. ...with her partner's possible akumatisation aside that is. Regardless, Marinette fixated her stare at the specific lamp post. The area where she brushed off momentarily. The light flickered back and forth whilst moths carried on fluttering around it without a care in the world. She watched. And watched. And watched. . Still nothing. Without looking away, knuckles white from her grip on the ribbon and her free hand cradling her beloved kwami, Marinette walked backwards, gingerly going down her trapdoor and quickly closed it till it was locked shut. . The silence haunted her all night. ~(x)~ "Ma-ri-nette!!!" Instantly, said girl was glomped by her best friend in a hug that would surely asphyxiate a commoner. Thankfully, Marinette was not only Ladybug in disguise but also trained vigorously in many of the martial arts by her dear maman. "Alya! I missed you! How was Morocco with Nino and his family?" Marinette leaned against Alya as the taller of the teens hooked their elbows together, leading them inside the school. "Girllllll I have so many scoops to share, so many deets-" "The million texts and selfies you sent me daily weren't just it?" "They barely scratched the surface! But anyways, it was amazing! I couldn't believe my parents were willing to let me go even when Nora threw a fit haha! I got to relax so much, spent quality time with Nino and his extended family, took so many pictures and tried so many different food. Ah~ Best. Summer. Ever." "Oh the food...I can't believe you shamelessly ate all of that without sharing it with me," The raven-haired girl teased, pushing her hip against Alya's who pushed back without a beat. "You wouldn't be moping if you came along, Mari. Remember the tagine you tried at the local restaurant nearby and you thought that was divine? Lemme tell you, it is nothing compared to the authentic, fresh tagine made by Nino's tante. One taste and I was in heaven. Absolute heaven." "Alya you're making me jealous, I get it, I get it." Marinette playfully scoffed but then her energy soon wore off and fatigue took over her body. Alya was quick to catch the tired girl as soon as she began to sway, perfect brows sculpted in worry as she eyed her best friend. "Marinette...girl...you do not look okay. I'm telling you this 'cos I love you. Go back home and sleep." The brunette brushed Marinette's fringe gently, noting the tired, dark rings under her eyes and the unhealthy paleness of her skin. It was as if Marinette avoided the sun all her life. "I don't wanna..." The stubborn girl whined but didn't fight back when Alya led her to a nearby bench, sitting them both down. "I've been missing you all too much and couldn't wait to see you all again," She admitted, earning a coo from the curvy girl and another hug. Alya's sun-kissed honey skin was a stark contrast against Marinette's pale, porcelain skin. "Alright then but I'll be keeping an eye on you, girl. I can see the effort you put into your cute bun and soft make up. How you do your eyeliner freehand without a guide will always baffle me~" Just as Marinette was about to retort back, the duo were engulfed by a surprise hug from the back. Neither fought back as the familiar laughter and soft, masculine brown arms were registered. "Babe! And dudette! My best girls!" Nino popped his head forward, in between the girls and squished their cheeks against his. "Heyyyy~" He waggled his eyebrows stupidly, his shit eating grin widening when his girlfriend burst out laughing and Marinette following with a quiet giggle. "Nino, g'morning," Alya quickly pecked his lips. To further his dramatics, Nino pretended to swoon and flopped backwards between the girls with a dopey smile. "Finally, a good lundi morning," Nino sighed with exaggeration, his girl still trying her best to stifle her laughter whilst Marinette fondly rolled her eyes at him. "I can now brave through these useless lessons and deal with M. D'Argencourt's bullshit rambles during registration. Oh how amazing the power of lo-oooove truly is!" "Oh yeah, I almost forgot that we won't have Mme. Bustier this year. Was about to say that I was gonna miss her but not gonna lie, she lost all my respect when you got expelled." Alya huffed, pulling Marinette against her like a worried mother hen. "To think that I almost had to spend my last year here without my precious Marinette~" "But Babe! What about me?" "You wish you were as precious as sweetcheeks over here." Alya blew a raspberry at her boyfriend, cheeky grin widening at his dramatics. Marinette on the other hand simply smiled, savouring every moment. The fact that there was a possibility that she would have had to attend a different collège for her final year without her friends made her quiver and she didn't falter in snuggling closer to her best friend. She's been through so much this year. Surely she deserved some sort of happiness. Even if she failed her partner at one point... Right? 'No. You do not deserve anything but pain and suffering you selfish, self-righteous brat. Because of you, how long did your beloved partner go through that hell? How many nights did he spend wide awake after destroying the world? Face it, you don't deserve him or your friends or any sort of love-' The dark, twisted, ugly thoughts and whispers that preyed upon her mind was quick to diminish at the sound of pure sunshine. "You guys! Hey!" Marinette didn't get a chance to look up fully as she and the rest of the small group was tackled by their loving blonde friend in a comfy, sweet hug. Her heart malfunctioned on the spot as all she could smell was the fresh, crisp autumn air that lingered in his soft hair and coat. Her mind rebooted over and over again at the feel of his strong, sturdy arm wrapped around her. Her lips quaked at the feel of his brushing against her cheek despite the gleeful smile he wore. "A-A-Adrien?" The model pulled back slightly to face the stammering girl, lips quirking into a silly but sweet smile. Not thinking twice, he pressed his forehead against Marinette's tenderly, their fringes intermingling with each other and their cool breaths hitting each other's lips. Adrien's eyes sparkled like emeralds and the aspiring designer couldn't help but be mesmerised. "Missed me~?" His nose was touching hers now and his pearly whites gleamed mischievously. Poor Marinette couldn't help but blink, blush already blooming in her cheeks. Dammit. They may have gotten much, much closer yet there were still times that the boy rendered her speechless! What's with the green eyed blonde boys in her life and making her heart a complete wreck?! "B-Bro...can't breathe...I don't wanna die!" Nino's muffled pleas shattered the moment and Adrien immediately broke the hug, snickering at the way Nino gasped for air and clutched a deadpanned Alya. Though, he took a seat besides Marinette and kept an arm around her waist, leaning against her as they watched the couple bicker and banter. "Enjoyed your holidays, Adrien?" Marinette began, playing with the fraying threads of her purse and peeked at him below her lashes. Adrien hummed, sitting up and then directed his gorgeous greens at her. 'Be still, my heart.' Marinette couldn't help but beg. "It was alright. Didn't leave Paris though and had too many photo-shoots. What about you? Didn't you get to go to Shanghai for a week?" Adrien's question almost went unheard as Mari couldn't help but be hyper-aware of the warmth of his hand on her waist. The way his finger casually tapped against it. The innocent smile he had on his lips. This boy was going to be the death of her. 'But you don't deserve him. You don't deserve either of them. Be lucky that they even acknowledge your filthy existence.' The eerie whispers clawed through her brain, her body begging to run away and cry. Yet, she forced her fingers to move away from her purse and pull on the seams of her navy pea-coat, smile never faltering. "Yes, I did. I really enjoyed it there. I wish I got to stay for lo-longer..." She trailed off, swallowing down any babbles or word soup as Adrien squeezed her waist as a gesture of comfort. He was being really sweet today... "I don't blame ya- all the pictures you posted online looked so cool. The skyline at night, the food, heck even your relatives! If I hadn't known better, I'd have thought that cousin of yours was your brother." "You wouldn't be the first to mistaken us as siblings," She giggled. "When we were younger and they came over to Paris to visit, some people used get mixed up between me and him. It didn't help that I had my hair really short at the time and wore nothing but blue and red." "That would have been really cute to see. Hmm, it also makes sense with how easily you accepted that Félix and I were just cousins instead of that weird conspiracy theory that Kim concocted up." "Oh I wouldn't say I accepted it too easily. You and your cousin are like mirrors of each other. It's insane! I thought for a minute that you had an evil twin." Marinette winked merrily, her giggles simply grew while Adrien rolled his eyes at her. "Come on. Not you too." His fake pout didn't last long and he quietly chortled alongside her. Just a smile from his Princesse was enough to brighten up his day despite the small fight he had with Ladybug eight hours prior. Yes, Ladybug was the love of his life. Yes, he would go to the moon and back for her. However, he would be an absolute idiot and horrifically obtuse to deny that his feelings for Marinette weren't as strong. With rare wisdom from his lazy kwami, Adrien learned that having feelings for more than one person was not only natural but also healthy in a way. It showed that he wasn't forever stuck on one person and it eased the pain of his Lady's rejection to his advances. Ladybug and Marinette were his best friends first and foremost and he wouldn't dare to sabotage his precious friendships. It didn't mean he couldn't wish for Ladybug to fall for him one day. Same for Marinette. He's still a silly teen; he could keep dreaming and fantasising! Till then, he was going to go with the flow and see what the future entailed. As far as he was concerned, his future was leaning more towards Marinette and frankly, he did not mind one bit. Abruptly, the morning bell rang, indicating that it was time for the students to head to class for registration. Grunts and groans were heard from the swarm of students in the courtyard, Kim's distinct "It's time for hell, bitches!" being one of the more prominent voices in the crowd along with Alix's curses. "Thank fuck Mari-bee was the class president last year and made sure that we got our class to be the same for this year. I'd have eaten my own hands if I had to deal with that one annoying kid obsessed with magic again." Nino shot a friendly punch against Marinette's shoulder and then wrapped an arm around Alya's waist as she led them to their new classroom. "Did he just indirectly mention that he'd rather have Chloé and Lila over Jean as his classmate?" Marinette huffed with endearment, taking the hand that Adrien offered to help her up. The sudden rush to her head caused her to wobble on the spot. Luckily, Adrien steadied her without a word, hands clasping her forearms. "S-Sorry..." She attempted to step away but the boy's grip on her tightened, halting her. Marinette glanced back at Adrien with confusion, cocking her head to the side slightly and lips pursed. "...you're not feeling well, aren't you?" A nail in the coffin. Adrien scanned her body from head to foot, frown growing deeper. "You can barely stand." "I'm fine. I just...couldn't get any sleep. I was nervous for the first day of school and also didn't want to oversleep." Marinette answered quickly, looking away from him. She didn't expect his finger to hook under her chin, forcing eye contact. For the first time, Adrien glared at her. Glared. He leaned in closer, bending down so that he could reach her height. "Are you lying?" Neither of them budged. The mutterings and chatter from the students that were around grew fainter and fainter until all that was heard was the classroom doors slamming shut and the echos of the teachers doing the register. Marinette wanted to quickly deny the allegation. She wanted to push him aside and run to class. She wanted to forget how she momentarily confused Adrien with her partner. Though, even the Ladybug could run out of luck. "Adrien," She began. "We're going to be late." Her stoic, cool expression showed that she wasn't going to budge, pissing off her friend completely. The model tsked with irritation, quick to grab her hand whilst using his other one to adjust the strap of his bag over his shoulder. He moodily led her to their class, refusing to utter another word. For a split second, the defiance and stubbornness in Marinette's eyes were a hundred percent identical to Ladybug's. He almost blurted out his treasured nickname for her. The annoyance of said stubbornness and refusal to accept his help grew stronger instead, causing him to try and forget about it and brood later on. What's with his treasured girls and their stupid reluctance to let him help!? . He wasn't aware of the horror that was plastered on Marinette's face. The girl refused to tear her eyes away from the main door behind them as a lone, torn up, dirty ribbon flayed in the entrance. A familiar ribbon that was most definitely not there ten seconds ago. When M. Haprèle closed the door, Marinette could have sworn... ...that there was a pair of blue eyes watching her right back. . . . ~(x)~ A/N: That's the end of chapter one! It's more like a prologue ish, slow chapter since we're building up- so bear with me, aight? I hope you enjoyed reading it regardless. I stayed up till 5am to write it after all :0 If this chapter gets at least ten comments, I will update! Till then, see you next time~

My Reaction and Thoughts to Monster Fu!
Spoilers below the cut! I'm going to be upfront and say that I saw the really dramatic promo that was shown during the episode, before I actually saw the episode. I waited to watch with subs. And well, I don't know if that made me feel underwhelmed as a result or what. But honestly, I'm thankful for it because I didn't scream or freak out once, which is a new record for me with a new episode. And I think it'll help ease me into S4 where I know I'm going to be screaming a lot lol
Okay, the rule where the Kwami should not be kept out in the open. I see why, they're almost like toddlers that don't listen to orders and cause trouble! Which is cute and adorable (and would make for some excellent content) but since our poor Marinette's been dealing with a lot, maybe keeping them around isn't the best idea. She should definitely follow that rule, at least somewhat. All the others... nah. I may be out of the ordinary as I know a lot of people were mad about seeing Master Fu returning already, but I'm so happy to see him again and get a feel of what his life is like now that his 170+ years of hard work are over. And let's not forget, Wayzz being so desperate to see him and possibly be touched by him, he's crawling around like an actual turtle. Like. That's his friend of almost 2 centuries. Gone just like that without a proper goodbye. Their bond is something we'll probably never fully grasp but that scene made me aww. Su Han totally panicking when he thought Plagg was missing 😂We sometimes forget that Plagg's super dangerous behind that cheesy smile and sense of humor. I love how everything's super chill with their discussion until Chat Noir hears that if they give up their Miraculous, Ladybug will forget him (and everything else for that matter. Yikes.) Then he's ready to fight until the death! That's my kitty. Gotta protect his lady! And Chat Noir being so encouraging is everything. Nobody can make her feel like she's worthy and can do anything but him. But this might be why I feel like the episode was a bit underwhelming for me. The only characters we see are Marinette/Ladybug, Chat Noir, Su Han, Master Fu, Marianne, Shadow Moth and the Kwamis. And a lot of conversation. Which is great! This was very important stuff for the storyline and it worked out great (more on that later in the post). It just didn't have any focus on her life outside her Guardian/Ladybug duties. Which we know will be covered plenty later, so it's fine! Okay Su Han, just go up to your former student who you see is a very old man now who has no memories and steal his cane and push him down by doing so. That's being a good human. Good job. :/ Also what is Master Fu hiding in that cane?? Hmmmm. I have a feeling Ladybug and Chat Noir will be in serious need of Su Han's ability to fend off akumas. If not during Hawk Moth/ Shadow Moth's reign, but his successor. Hopefully they'll actually end up learning it from him! Even without any memories except those he made after his memories were wiped or Miraculous to help him, Master Fu will not sit back and take someone trying to steal and harm him or Marianne. x3 Master Fu's a really cool guy without all the burden weighing him down, don't you think? (Seeing the difference of pre-S3 Fu to S4 Fu has me so worried for our poor Marinette, not gonna lie ;-;) Su Han's afraid of akumatized Fu. And lost against Ladybug and Chat Noir. Then just stands back and watches them fight while calling things out to them like... dude. I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed that her new design isn't going to be a fully permanent thing, but I'm really glad that we'll be getting it whenever she uses Lucky Charm, so at least once an episode! I feel like this was a way to give us something new without taking away her OG look as not to upset those fans, but also works as a way to test out what our opinions are of it so that it could become what she wears later. And really excited too to see how the new outfit came about, and if Chat's going to end up with one every time he uses Cataclysm. Though, when it comes to Chat's Cataclysm, that tends not to last around long like a Lucky Charm so it may not happen, realistically. :c Guess we'll see! Marinanne helping them defeat Monster Fu and doing the pound-it with them was so great. And these new charms that she gives akuma victims, pretty excited to see how that came about and then later obviously how they work exactly! Now that screenshot of a charm being handed over (probably by the new Queen Bee) makes a lot more sense. I really appreciate how in
the end Su Han got to really observe Marinette as Ladybug and the Guardian. He noticed qualities in her that Master Fu did and appreciates them and is realizing that unless she proves herself unworthy, she deserves to be the one to keep them safe. Very cool of him, I think. It wasn't a "everything's okay in the end, yay!" kind of ending, but a "I trust you enough with all this responsibility, which goes against every rule I've ever known and all my training, so don't let me down or there will be consequences." type ending. A bit different than a typical ending of an episode, I think! I also really like how he wants to stick around Paris awhile, hopefully he'll get to know Marinette more and can be that someone she can come to about things so she doesn't feel so totally alone. Like, I hope they build up a bond because I think that'd be so wholesome. And I appreciate that he wants to learn about this new modern world, he's been away from the world since the later 1800s! Must be a huge and probably scary change for him. Not to mention, I love how Marinette's willing to help him modernize so he blends in and gave him some brand new modern shoes. 😂 I'm hoping that now that it's out of the way when it comes to the Guardians from the temple worrying about the Miracle Box, that's one less thing on Marinette's shoulders to worry about. Not to mention, gives her more confidence in herself that even Su Han is allowing her to keep it! I only got to see the episode with subs once before it was removed (thank you to the two of you who linked it for me, I caught it just in time!) so I may have missed some details because of it. But I'm really looking forward to what's ahead (or well, behind chronologically?) to find out what led up to some of these new changes! Like what exactly prompted her to cover her windows. Maybe it was a certain sneaky cat since the Kwamis are hanging around now and well, they can't be photographed by anybody else that may look in and see them 4 floors up. Or maybe that's just me hoping for more Marichat content. I guess that's one of the many little details that could be interesting to learn about!

Oh well, guess its time to do it huh? Another miraculous review, I Don’t really know what to say at this point, let’s just get this over with
Today we’re going to review the fourth episode of season 5. Jubilation
We start the episode with Marinette doing a walk listening to rock, but then a billboard starts plating the alliance ad… again… breath aguinha... breath…. Astruc, buddy, Pal. COULD YOU PLEASE STOP TO REPEAT YOURSELF? WE KNOW THAT NOW THERE’S THE ALLIENCES, ARE YOU PROUND OF THE ANIMATION OF THE AD OR SOMETHING? STOP IT, I ALREADY MADE THIS JOKE 3 TIMES, MY FOLLOWERS ARE TIRED, SO PLEASE STOP.
Tikki asks why Adrien is in the ad if he isn’t a model anymore, because all kwamis that aren’t Plagg Nooro or Dussu are just morons, wait but if this ad is playing for some time now, wouldn’t they have seen it before? and Tikki would have asked this before wouldn’t she? I really bet Gabriel don’t have money to put this ad in more places, considering it was in a fucking billboard. So Tikki, w h a t ?
Marinette tells Tikki that this was just a digital 3d model of him, wow that must have been expensive, maybe that’s the reason Gabriel couldn’t play the ad more than like, two times.
But that’s just a theory… A GAME THEORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR- sorry
Tikki: you in the other hand are still in love with the real Adrien
Marinette: oh no that’s over, as long as I’m-
Marinette whispers: as long as I’m ladybug, I refuse to be in love with Adrian or anyone else
Aww Marinette, no need to whisper, just scream like you always do, no worries you can always count on plot armor
But I really like Marinette finally trying to develop as a person and just forget about love, she needs to worry about Paris, that’s cool, lets see how long it will last.
Spoiler: it lasted 2 episodes…
We see Mr. Damocles as “the owl” trying to save a kitty, dude haven’t you learned your lesson already back in dark owl? I know he is kind of a moron but that doesn’t make sens- OOH, DON’T TELL ME, DON’T TELL ME HE IS GOING TO BE JUST LIKE ANDRE, NO MR DAMOCLES, NO PLS NO, I DON’T CARE ABOUT U BUT PLEASE, PLEASE THAT IS A ONE-WAY STREET,
youtube
Mr. Damocles ends up stuck in an iron bar and his owl mask gets broken, Marinette tries to help him but a copycat Ladybug shows up and saves an old stupid man, yeyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Turns out, Marinette knows who is the ladybug copycat, a girl called soqcline, soucline? Wait a second.
Ohhh its Socqueline,Thanks google
So, they go to Socqueline mom’s stone, which a craft store
They talk a bit and we find out that Socqueline was a school friend, which sucks at first, like where the hack have you been for 5 seasons young lady? Have you drunk some invisibility tea or something? You weren’t in another city like Felix or Zoe-su SO WHERE THE HACK HAVE YOU BEEN?
Mr. Damocles shows up there to buy a new mask, while that Marinette tries to make Socqueline AHH I CAN’T, I AM NOT FRENCH, I AM NOT EUROPEAN, I DON’T KNOW HOW THE FUCK YOU WRITE THIS GIRL’S NAME AND I AM TIRED TO LOOK ON GOOGLE ALL THE TIME, SO I WILL JUST CALL HER BRITWO OK? SHE IS PRETTY MUCH IT JUST A CHEAP BAD COPY OF MY DARLING BRIDGETTE, THAT DIFERENTLY FROM HER HAS A PRONAUNSABLE NAME.
Marinette tries to make britwo confess she is the ladybug copy, which she struggles with, at first I thought, OK must be hard try to make her confess without saying you are ladybug, BUT WHEN BRITWO WAS SAVING MR. DAMOCLES MARINETTE LITTERALY TELLS “Socqueline?” SO IF YOU ASKED HER IT WOULDN’T REVEAL ANYTHING, THE HECK MARI?
Britwo uses her alliance to check the paint stock
Marinette: wow, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen alliance in person!
Britwo: It’s a life changer, it got everything, wanna try it?
Britwo: just start with the magic words, please alliance, how many steps have I walked today?
AA (Alliance Adrian): you’ve walked 520.32 steps today socqueline, well done
Marinette: wow it’s amazing
Britwo: right? Is like having an Adrian all for yourself! What a dream
Hmm She is a creep, got it.
Marinette: you can hardly tell the difference between this and the real Adrien.
Britwo: YOU KNOW HIM?
Sorry I just need to point this out, how the heck she found out? Just because you say a 3D model looks like the person that doesn’t mean you know him, I’m imagining this girl taking some friends to watch marvel, and then appears a 3D model of idk, iron man and then her friend tells her, wow man that 3D model sure looks like Robert Downey, and then britwo screams out of nowhere: YOU KNOW HIM?
Marinette then starts to tells britwo ALL OF ADRIENS PROBLEMS TO SOMEONE HE NEVER MEET, WHAT A COOL PROTAGONIST, KIDS YOU SHOULD TOTALLY TELL YOUR FRIENDS PROBLEMS TO SOMEONE HE NEVER MEET, THAT’S THE RESPONSIBLE THING TO DO 👍
BUT THEN, Britwo thinks Adrien and Marinette are together, which Marinette responds saying
Marinette: we’re just friends nothing more, its just like you, you’re just a high school girl who sometimes helps her mom, nothing else right?
Britwo: uh, exactly.
Marinette: just like Mr. Damocles, he is just a principal, right?
Damocles: no, I’m not a principal, I’m a superhero, I MEAN IT’S THE OTHER WAY AROUND
Marinette: well it’s a good thing you are not TRYING TO BE A SUPERHERO, BECAUSE ITS VERY DANGEROUS TO DO THE SAME THING THEY DO WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE MAGICAL POWERS OR SUPER SUITS
Britwo: yeah, but what if it is a relief to ladybug to have people to help her
Marinette: no way she would have want that, its too risky
Britwo: yeah, but you gotta know when to step in
Marinette: but in this circumstance it’s ladybug job to take risks and no one else, because if everyone takes risks ladybug may have to take more risks in order to deal with their risks, WHICH IS EVEN RISKER
Damocles: sounds like someone is jealous because she wants to be a superhero
Marinette: I DO NOT, I’M MARINETTE, I AM VERY HAPPY TO BE A NORMAL GIRL WITH A NORMAL LIFE, AND SO SHOULD EVERYONE ELSE
Ok 2 things, being a superhero is hard, you have to deal with more than just the supervillains, you lose your freedom, everyone expects you to be perfect, any mistake you make may have catastrophic consequences and you blame it all on yourself, you gain more traumas than a child in twitter, be a super hero is hard I understand your side Mari. SECOND, I hate Mr Damocles now.
WHAT THE HECK DUDE? FIRST OF WHERE IS YOUR DEVELOPMENT? I LIKED YOUR EPISODE, THE IDEA THAT PEOPLE CAN HELPWITHOUT PUTTING THEMSELVES IN DANGER IS SOMETHING I LOVE, I LOVE DARK OWL, THERE ARE SOME BAD PARTS BUT IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE EPISODES OF THIS GOD FOR SAKE SHOW, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HIS DEVELOPMENT? AND THE PHRASE “lOoKs LiKe sOmEoNe iS jEaLoUs BeCaUsE sHe wAnTs tO bE a sUpErHeRo” FUCK YOU, I shall not call you by your real name anymore, you will now be Mr Damoshit.
Mari uses britwo alliance to find out if she is or not the fake ladybug, save this information, its important, and found out that yes, she really is she impostor, good I don’t have many followers I bet I would get at least one billion sus comments if I were popular,
By the alliance Mari discovers that there’s dino’s attacking the city and transforms to go fight them, with britwo, Mr Damoshit is sad because of what marinette said, really dude? But then Marinette comes back and gives back britwo alliance, saying that she forgot to lock her scooter, but the alliance says that Marinette walked kilometers in just some minutes, but britwo think this is just a bug and life goes on.
With that said Gabriel receives a message from his alliance saying that a teen ran through KILOMETERS in just a couple minutes and that she probably was ladybub
Huh cool Gabriel use the alliances to try catch ladyb- WAIT A MINUTE, IF YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU DID WITH THE ALLIENCES, THAT’S THE WAY MARI FOUND OUT ABOUT SOCQUELINE, WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T USE THIS TOO? HE COULD HAVE SAW FROM BRITWO ALIENCE, SEE SHE IS THE FAKE ONE.
BUT THAT WOULD INCLUDE SEEING MARINETTE AS LADYBUG AND HER PLOT ARMOR IS BIGGER THEN THE FUCKING PLANET, SO THE WRITTERS JUST LET THIS PLOT HOLE,
Tumblr media
Gabriel transforms and akumatize Mr Damoshit. Into darker owl, stupid name for a stupid character, Monarch tells him that britwo is ladybub and gives him the power of jubilation.
Darker owl Appears at the craft shop which britwo record an audio with alliance, but darker owl just uses his gift in britwo showing her bigger wish, be a real superhero like ladybub and chat noar, takes her earrings but find out that she really isn’t ladybug,
Mari as ladybug shows up and discovers that the akuma is in darker owl’s mask by an audio britwo recorded in her alliance, see how this Socqueline is just a copy of Bridgette, they even copied the super intelligence my darling has, Adrien receives by the alliance a video from darker owl saying that if they don’t give him their miraculous britwo is going to fall in a can of paint and die, you are trying me to like you again by being a charismatic supervillain, but this is not going to work, do something really good and remarkable or your name will forever be Mr Damoshit.
Adrien transforms into chat noir and they both go fight darker owl
Chat noir saves britwo while ladybug just uses her lucky charm, pls mari the only good part of your character was that you always did the work, pls don’t be like Adrien and not just sit your big fat ass and do nothing plssssssssssssss,
The lucky charm is an alarm clock, but before ladybug can think of anything, ladybub sees that chat was going to be caught and go save him, which darker owl uses the gift in them making the biggest, no, one of the biggest shipping fuel I’ve ever seen in my life
The dream is about they defeating monarch and getting married, they show off the super heroes from the around the world specials to remember that those existed and that they were cannon, some chat blanc reference, they have the most DISGUSTING BABIES OF ALL CARTOON HISTORY, NO LOOK AT THAT
Tumblr media
I didn’t like steven universe baby designs but Jesus Christ.
But then they discover that this is a dream because of the lucky charm alarm clock, they have a sad moment and kiss, like that scene would have been better if it was after determination and if chat noir/Adrien wasn’t in love with Marinette, the way they put that just doesn’t make much sense
Ladybug wake up and start to beat the shit out of darker owl, chat noir also wakes up and starts to REALLY BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF DARKER OWL, ladybub even had to say for him to slow down
And then…. CHAT NOIR TRIES TO FUCKING CATACLYSM HIM, DUDE, WHAT THE HELL, HE IS HORRIBLE BUT JUST TAKE HIM OUT OF THE SHOW, DON’T FUCKING KILL HIM, THAT’S JUST ABSURDE MAN, OMG HOW IS HE STILL CONSIDARETED A HERO, JESUS CHRIST.
BUT chat decides to don’t kill him and just cataclysms the mask instead. They search for the pig miraculous but find nothing so just give Mr. Damoshit a magical charm,
Britwo apologizes with ladybug and Marinette gives her mom the paints she bought, and her mom gives her a gift, an alliance, but she gives it back because it’s too dangerous.
And then we have a scene where ladybub and chat noar talk about the fight with darker owl. And that’s where the episode ends
Really this episode is hard to give a note, it is the best one so far but yeah. I think Britwo was kinda annoying and kinda of a creep, Marinette wasn’t at her best but she wasn’t at her worst either like yeah that with Adrian's secrets where bad but not the worst she's ever done, chat noir didn’t show up most, he was just there to add some shipping fuel and to make him look bad I guess? No really what was the plan when they made chat almost kill someone? And Mr. Damoshit, do I need to explain myself
That’s kinda of it, I will give this episode a 6/10 its ok
Thanks for seeing see you in the next post

This is based on @beebeebombam ‘s body swap au. I took a few liberties so I could keep this as a one-shot, but I recommend checking out all the art that goes with this! (also, i’m sorry I took forever to write this)
Also, a huge thank you to @chatnoirinette for beta-reading. You are wonderful!
AO3
So That Just Happened
"Ladybug, look out!"
Chat Noir crashes into her, cradling her close as they hit the ground and roll to a stop. Too bad the misty, blue light still envelopes them.
Her heart lurches, skipping and jumping to her throat. Oh no. Any second she's going to be forced to swap bodies with Chat Noir, just like what happened to all of Switcher's other victims. Sure, it's better that it's him than anyone else since they're in the middle of an akuma battle, but still. This is a disaster!
His green eyes are wide and stare into her own. "Ladybu—"
But it's too late. Liquid ice rushes through her body and everything goes black.
oOo
"Marinette." Something taps her face. "Marinette, wake up."
She groans and slowly opens her eyes. Her own face is peering down at her. Her own giant face.
A shriek escapes her, and she throws her hands up as if to ward the face off, scuttling backwards like a panicked crab. Or at least she tries. Everything feels off, and the big hands holding her up stop her from going anywhere.
"Marinette, please calm down," the giant that has stolen her face says. "It's just me."
"Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down when—" She breaks off, startled by the familiar high-pitched tone of her voice. "Wait …"
She stares at her hands, which are tiny and red. So are her feet. Something twitches on her head, and her heart quickens like the fluttering wings of a hummingbird. Those are antennae. She has antennae and a red body, and she's tiny, and there's a giant Marinette holding her.
"T-Tikki?" she says.
The giant Marinette nods.
Her chest tightens. "Then we really …"
Another nod.
Oh no. Oh no, no, no. She cannot be stuck in her kwami's body. The akuma is probably still out there, which means Tikki has to become Ladybug, but Marinette is the kwami right now, and she doesn't know how to become a magical suit, and—
"Marinette," Tikki says in a soothing tone, "it's okay. There's no need to panic. We'll figure this out."
"But Switcher—"
"Has been defeated."
Marinette blinks. "What?"
"Plagg and I stopped the akuma. I purified it as well."
Two more blinks. "Plagg?"
Tikki grimaces, glancing off to the side. "That's the other thing. See—"
"Sugarcube!"
Adrien walks over.
Adrien.
And he's holding the black cat kwami in his hands.
Marinette's eyes bulge so wide it feels like they're going to pop out. Her jaw drops. The antennae shoot up on her head like exclamation points. "A-A-A—"
"Oh dear," Tikki says. "I was afraid of this."
The sound that escapes Marinette is like a dying wheeze mixed with a screech. It's the air rushing out of a deflating balloon, the ungraceful honk-hiss of a flailing bird. If she'd been standing, she would have slumped to her knees. As it is, she can only open and close her mouth, pointing at Adrien with one tiny red paw.
Adrien. Adrien is Chat Noir.
She has rejected Chat Noir multiple times, because she loves Adrien, who is Chat Noir, who is—
"I think the kid's face broke her," Adrien says with a little cackle.
Marinette makes the wheezing screech again.
Tikki rounds on him. "I thought I told you to wait for my signal."
"I did wait, but we don't have time for you to gently break it to baker girl that her crush is—"
"Adrien," Marinette manages to get out.
His beautiful green eyes fix on her, except the expression in them is all wrong. Not the right softness, not the right sweetness. These eyes hold chaos and secret smiles and far too much amusement.
"You," she says, her hand trembling. "You're not Adrien."
His teeth flash in a grin. "What gave it away? My superior sense of taste? My—"
Tikki elbows him. "Plagg, now is not the time."
Marinette swallows and shifts her gaze to the sleeping kwami cradled in Plagg's hands. "Th-then that means Adrien is …"
"Uh huh," Plagg says. "So now you see our predicament. The akuma has been defeated, the cure used, and we're still stuck in the wrong bodies."
Adrien chooses this moment to wake, sitting up with his little cat ears flicking this way and that. He yawns, baring tiny fangs.
That's Adrien. That tiny cat is Adrien, who is Chat Noir, who is Adrien, who—
"I think she broke again," Plagg observes.
"Stop teasing her. Of course this is going to be a shock."
Adrien blinks, glances up at Plagg, then over to Tikki, then down to Marinette. She's stiff like a statue, but she can almost see the pieces connecting in his head as to why his classmate and friend is holding Ladybug's kwami. His brow wrinkles, his eyes widen, and then a delighted grin splits his face.
"Not just an every-day Ladybug, huh?"
The wheeze-screech once more escapes her lips. This is too much.
oOo
"Okay," Marinette mutters, hidden inside the purse with a few cookies and other necessities. "This is fine, this is fine, this is fine. It's just a dream. It has to be a dream. Any moment I'm gonna wake up and realise how silly this all is."
She forces a laugh, just to see if it'll make her feel better. It doesn't. Instead, the purse swings a bit too far and a cookie hits her in the face. Her nose scrunches. She pats the cookie away, cringing at the sticky touch of melted chocolate. Is this what Tikki has to put up with all the time?
"Stop wriggling," Plagg says from somewhere outside the purse.
"It's your cheese's fault," Adrien grumbles. "It stinks."
"Stinks like heaven, you mean."
"Well, your heaven is trying to kill me."
"Shh." That one is definitely Tikki. "People will notice if you keep talking to your pocket. Here, I'll put Adrien with Marinette."
Marinette stiffens and makes a little meep sound. The purse gets opened and Adrien gets deposited inside without ceremony. Then the clasps click shut, sealing the two of them in together.
Her heart thumps and thumps and thumps.
"So," he says, rubbing the base of his neck, "guess this cat is in the bag."
Wait.
Did he just …
Laughter bubbles free of her lips. "I can't believe you." You dork, she almost adds. Of all the things to say.
His smile is shy but pleased. "Still made you laugh, didn't it?"
"It barely makes sense."
"But you still got it, and—" He breaks off, pressing his lips together with an oops expression, like he knows he almost blurted something he shouldn't.
She tilts her head. "What?"
"It's just … I'm happy to see you laugh."
Her heart skips and stutters. "Oh."
"Because you seemed kind of uncomfortable before." He shoots her a shy glance. "And I just hope it's not because I'm, well, me."
"Oh, Adrien, no. I could never be upset that you're Chat Noir."
His ears perk up. "You're not?"
"No. Not at all. I'm just—"
Madly in love with you. Still struggling to comprehend the fact I've kissed you twice, not to mention rejected you for you.
Also, did I mention I'm super crazily in love with you?
"—I'm just trying to process it all, I guess," she says. "This isn't how I expected our reveal to go."
He leans forward, wiggling his eyebrows. "So you did imagine it?"
Heat explodes on her cheeks. "Wh-what? No. I—no!"
He laughs, which does nothing to cool the blush spreading all over her face. But then his expression turns more pensive. He fidgets with his tail, lowering his gaze.
"I did," he says softly.
"Huh?"
"Imagine it. What it would be like to see each other without the masks."
The drumming beat in her chest gets louder and louder. "Y-you did?"
His gaze flickers to hers, so soft and so very Adrien, even if he is in his kwami's body. "Yeah. I thought about it a lot."
She licks her dry lips. "Wh-what did you imagine?"
"Well, first, we were actually in our own bodies."
She laughs, shy and hushed. He laughs too, which makes her cheeks warm all over again. How is it that he can have this effect on her even when he looks like a tiny cat with whiskers?
His gaze slides back to his hands. "I always wondered who you might be under the mask: whether you were a stranger to me in my civilian life, whether you were closer than I realised." A faint blush blooms on his face. "I … I hoped it would be the latter."
"That part worked out at least."
"Y-yeah," he says with an unsteady laugh. "It did."
The silence that settles is charged with an energy that makes her blood hum and her skin prickle as if touched by an invisible caress.
"What else did you imagine?" she whispers.
"Telling you."
His voice is just as soft, like something fragile might shatter if either of them speak any louder.
"Telling me what?"
Their eyes meet, and her pulse thrums in her ears as he holds her gaze.
"Telling you for real, no mask and no secrets, that I—"
The purse is opened.
"We're here," Tikki announces, gesturing to the bakery.
Marinette tries not to groan in frustration. Just when they were getting to the good part.
oOo
They shut themselves in Marinette's room and, with the help of all the kwamis under her protection, try to figure out a way to undo this mess. Now that she is the guardian, the pressure is on her. The problem is that she has no idea why only the four of them have remained body swapped. Neither do the kwamis. There is much discussion about side effects and kwami magic interference, but it's all so convoluted and technical that it gives her a headache. Trying to decipher the information she received from Master Fu will take forever as well. The whole thing seems hopeless.
"What if we're stuck like this forever?" Marinette wails, resisting the urge to bash her head against the floor. "I can't stay as a kwami. Plus, my parents will never believe that Tikki is me. We'll be exposed in a day!"
Tikki frowns, sitting primly on her knees. "I thought I did quite well at pretending to be you."
"Oh, sure, sure." Marinette forces a smile. "It's just, um … you also kind of …"
"Kind of what?"
"You sounded like you were from the wrong decade, sugarcube," Plagg says, leaning back on his palms and grinning. "Didn't you see her parents giving you odd looks?"
Tikki folds her arms. "I suppose you think you did better job?"
"Naturally."
Adrien purses his lips. "You asked them what cheese-flavoured things they had and bought five of every kind."
Plagg shrugs. "Everyone loves cheese."
"I don't."
"Well, I guess you do now."
Adrien's expression sours even more. "If you eat all that while you're in my body, I will throw your special camembert stash into the Seine."
"Not the special camembert!"
"Don't think I won't do it."
Tikki holds up her hands in an appeasing gesture. "Okay, okay. I think we can safely say that none of us are very good at being each other, so let's just focus on fixing this."
"But none of us know how," Marinette sighs, antennae drooping like sad flower stems. "We're trapped like this."
There's an awkward pause as everyone reflects on the truth of this statement.
"Actually …" Adrien sits up straighter, his brow creased. "There may be one thing we can try."
"What?" Marinette asks. Any suggestions are welcome at this point.
His cheeks darken. "Well, um, you remember that time I was under Dark Cupid's control? You were able to break the magic without using the cure, right?"
Heat crawls up her face. Oh. He's talking about that.
She scratches her cheek, looking off to the side. "Are you suggesting that we k-kiss?"
"I mean it worked then, so it's worth a try, right?"
Her face burns, spreading to the tips of her antennae. Adrien wants to kiss her. Adrien, who is Chat Noir, wants to kiss her.
Okay, she can do this. Just speak like a normal person. Play it cool, play it cool, play it cool. Do not let the reek of desperately and crazily in love and "yes, let's kiss right now" seep through.
"I guess," she says.
Success. Cool points have increased by one.
Adrien shoots her a shy glance. "Then should we …?"
"Yes!"
Damn. That was way too eager. Back to being a dorkasaurus.
Adrien does not seem to mind her explosive eagerness. His blush darkens and he shuffles over on his little kitty paws.
Paws.
That's when it hits her: they are stuck in their kwamis' bodies. This will not be the kiss she has dreamed of, because Adrien looks like a cat thing with whiskers, and she looks like a mousebug, and everyone is staring, and—
"Are they gonna kiss or not?" one the kwamis murmurs.
"Shh. You'll ruin the moment."
"It's already ruined."
"Shh!"
Adrien and Marinette blush, avoiding each other's gaze. This is so awkward.
"Um," he says, glancing at the others. "Could you maybe … turn away?"
Plagg grins and gives an unsubtle wink. "Sure thing, kid."
"Thanks."
Tikki smiles at Marinette and then ushers the other kwamis to give them some privacy.
Okay, that's kind of better. Now Marinette just has to kiss this tiny cat version of Adrien. Not weird at all.
He bites his lip and leans in, pausing when they're an inch apart to check if she's still okay with this. She closes her eyes, puckers up her lips. Gets a whiff of stinky cheese and cat breath.
This is fine, she tells herself. He's still Adrien. Still the boy I love. This is fine.
"Two carrots that they can't do it," Kaalki's voice drifts to them.
"You're on," Fluff says.
A chorus of groans.
"You ruined it again," Pollen complains.
"Just let them have their moment," Wayzz says, clenching his fist like one who has had their greatest treasure snatched from them. "My ship is almost sailing."
Adrien steps back and presses his paws to his face. "They're totally staring at us, aren't they?"
"Yep," Marinette says. "Not even attempting to look away."
They both laugh awkwardly.
He shuffles on his feet, looks down at the floor. "We don't have to do this if you don't want to. I'm sure—"
"Adrien."
"Yeah?"
She steps forward and kisses him on the lips. It's the barest touch, just a little peck, but the warmth humming through her face tells her she'd be redder than an overripe strawberry had she still been in her human body. Good thing Tikki is already red.
He blinks at her slowly, his mouth forming a small O.
Seconds pass.
"Nothing's happening," Kaalki says flatly.
Fluff nudges the horse kwami. "But they still kissed. You owe me two carrots."
A sigh. "Very well."
"Wait!" Pollen says, clapping their hands together. "What if Tikki and Plagg have to kiss as well?"
Tikki and Plagg share a startled glance.
"What?" Tikki says, going bright pink. "M-me and stinky sock? You want us to kiss?"
Wayzz's mouth twitches like he's trying very hard not to smile. "It is worth a try."
"B-but—"
"C'mere, sugarcube."
Plagg grabs Tikki's face, smooshing her cheeks slightly, and plants a kiss right on her lips, complete with a big, wet smooching sound. Marinette's eyes bulge. Adrien holds a paw to his mouth, all wide-eyed and shocked like some sheltered Victorian lady who has seen the forbidden.
"Quick, someone grab a camera!" one of the kwamis says.
Then liquid ice surges through Marinette's body and the world once more goes black.
oOo
"Marinette." Something taps her face. "Marinette, wake up."
She opens her eyes slowly and is greeted by warm green. Adrien's eyes. To the left are Tikki and Plagg, both in their kwami forms and smiling. Behind them are the rest of the kwamis, all peering at her in a mixture of curiosity and amusement.
"It worked?" she asked. "This isn't a dream?"
Adrien takes her hand and helps her to sit up. "It's not a dream."
"Oh, thank goodness!"
She crashes into his chest, hugging him tight. He melts into her without hesitation. It's warm and wonderful, and she is happy to stay like this forever. Then her brain catches up and starts what Alya fondly calls the Marinette Flailfluster Internal Scream, because this is Adrien Agreste, and right now they're in full hug contact, and—
And he's her partner. Her kitty. He's a total goof and makes the silliest puns.
Her shoulders relax. A soft smile curves her lips and she snuggles more into him. Tikki and Plagg soon join in, nuzzling up against their cheeks and laughing. It feels so good to be back to normal.
"Thanks, kitty," Marinette murmurs, pulling back to meet his gaze. "You really saved us."
His smile makes her warm all the way to her toes. "I'm just glad it worked."
Fluttering wings stir in her stomach. Yeah, she is still hopelessly and crazily in love with this boy.
oOo
It's much later when she and Adrien are able to get some privacy on her balcony. The sky is slate grey and has that heavy quality that promises rain, but that doesn't matter. What matters is this quiet moment: the hush that settles, the little shuffle of their feet like a shy tiptoe around each other, the way his arm bumps hers as he leans next to her on the railing. Warm and innocent.
"So …" she says.
"So …"
The corner of her mouth curves. He mirrors the expression, his eyes crinkling.
"I never got a chance to say it earlier," he says, "but I'm happy."
"About what?"
His hand comes to rest over hers. "That it's you. That it's always been you."
Her heart thumps faster.
Something shifts in his gaze and he leans closer, his voice softening as if he's about to share a secret. "Marinette …"
"Yes?"
"I love you."
It's like every bone in her body turns to jelly. She wants to melt, wants to scream, wants to jump up and down in unrestrained joy because this is finally, finally happening. But somehow she manages the restraint to smile and interlace their fingers. "I love you too, Adrien."

TITLE: tell me you love me, pls ( i beg u )
Fandom: Miraculous Ladybug Ship: The Love Square - Mainly Adrinette and Marichat Rating: T [ AO3 ]
Summary:
Adrien’s patience was hanging by a thread. Wearing thin, rapidly dissipating, dissolving, the way his father claimed teeth dissolved in aerated drinks, take your pick. In that moment, he felt like Tantalus, hungry, the fruit within his reach but just barely . So. Close.
He loved the girl, he really did, and though he did his absolute best to soften her nerves as he looked at her with what he hoped was a hopeful smile, he suspected that he wasn’t able to cut through her panic induced haze. He watched her stutter a little before she let her head fall on her desk with a wince-worthy thump, before she asked for his physics homework going off their (very, very well-rehearsed) script again . All he wanted to do was take her by the shoulders and shake her while screaming,
“ Tell me you love me, I beg you. I can’t stand waiting around this way!”
And then maybe kiss the hell out of her.
Hell, he wanted to kiss the hell out of her right now , but he couldn’t because there was The Bet ™ that he now felt, in hindsight, was stupid. Not that he would ever admit that to Plagg or to his Princess, of course.
Really, he wished she would hurry up with her confession before he combusted on the spot and did something uncharacteristically un- gentlemanly, like drag her off to the nearest empty closet and kiss her senseless. He was sure she wouldn’t mind, what with her accidentally telling Chat Noir her fantasy of being pinned against the wall while being made out with, but still . He couldn’t just do that .
Or could he?
Well, he could.
But he mustn’t.
Suppressing a frustrated groan, he looked over his shoulder at the love of his life as she opened her French Literature notebook with a miserable frown. He really was not looking forward to another torturous practice session that evening. He sighed softly to himself, determined to find out what went wrong this time.
-o-
“... And he was just…. SMILING at me,” groaned Marinette as she shoved her face into her pillow with a groan.
Chat looked at her blankly. “And that is a problem, because …?”
“He looked so cute ,” she wailed. “It’s not fair, my brain shortcircuits. Can you believe my stutter came back !? After almost three years of being friends with him!? I was mortified. ”
Chat couldn’t help the warmth that flooded his cheeks. “You couldn’t ask him out because he was too cute ?”
“Yeah, go ahead, laugh at me,” she pouted petulantly.
He smiled at her softly instead. “No, I think that’s quite… Sweet.”
Marinette scrunched her nose at him. “You weren’t there. It was my Top 10 Embarassing Marinette Moments.”
Chuckling, Chat pat her side to have her make room for him before sliding in next to her in the space she had created.
“So how was your day? How’d it go with your girl?”
My girl. Adrien liked the sound of that.
“I really, really wanted to ask her out today.”
“Did you?” Marinette asked, with a sly gleam to her eyes.
“ No ,” said Chat petulantly. “I’ll have you know that this gentlecat is very patient with the leading ladies of his life.”
“I bet Ladybug would beg to differ,” she replied mischievously.
“ Hey , I was a kitten then with a stupid crush!” Chat replied indignantly with a pout. “I did not know better.” Marinette chuckled quietly, patting his head.
“ Marinette, please ask your boy out so I can ask her out!” whined Chat.
“Careful, Chat,” sang Marinette. “Your impatience is showing.”
Chat groaned. This really was a bad idea. It was bad enough that what he considered a triumphant statement - I will ask out the girl I’m in love with, if you confess your feelings to the boy that you love. He was yet to figure out why that in itself was a good idea, but he just had to let himself be goaded into placing a bet on his patience.
“I don’t think you have the patience to wait that long, kitty ,” she had said back then.
“ Bet?” he had challenged, like an utter fool, because she was right , he did, in fact, not have the patience to wait that long. It’d been two weeks already.
“You don’t understand,” insisted Chat. “She- She sits behind me. I can feel her gaze on me, you know? It makes me want to turn around, lean over her table and kiss her.”
“You think, I have it easy?” Marinette demanded. “I can’t concentrate in class because he sits right in front of me. And my fingers itch to reach out to touch his hair and-”
“You should,” said Chat immediately, before coughing and continuing, “I mean, I wouldn’t mind if the girl behind me did that to me, so.”
“Yeah, that’s because you’re in love with her,” said Marinette rolling her eyes.
“Why do you still think Adrien Agreste is not in love with you!” exclaimed Chat.
Marinette worried her lower lip. “Chat, we’ve known each other for four years now, if he had any interest, he would’ve said something by now, right?”
Chat sighed. “Princess, we’ve been over this. You feel so much, but you haven’t said anything either, right?”
“Yeah, but that’s because he’s been clear on how I’m “just a very good friend”, you know!” Marinette said defensively, making Chat wince.
“Well, um, I friendzoned my classmate too, you know,” said Chat quietly. “I don’t know when I started to fall in love with her but I only realised two years ago and well, I tried everything in my power to get closer to her...”
He avoided tacking on During a road trip over the summer, when I had to watch another guy get really close to you, and I was scared out of my mind that you two would start dating because I know how in love with you Luka was, and I was torn between relief for me and concern for you when it didn’t work out and I still don't know what really happened because that would be one coincidence too many, he supposed.
“I… Did not know that,” said Marinette, clearing the bangs out of his eyes. “Why did you wait so long to ask her out, then?”
Chat gave her a wistful smile. “I was too afraid to ruin my friendship with her. She means the world to me, you know. She doesn't even realize how many times she's made my day brighter just by smiling at me."
He paused, before taking in a deep breath. "And well, about 6 months ago I found out that she used to be in love with me but had tried to give up on me..."
"Oh, Chat, I'm sorry," said Marinette, shifting closer to him. "Are you sure, though? Maybe it's not too late?"
"She, er, told me, actually," he said, not liking the dangerous turn the conversation had taken.
"She told you!? That's... Mean!" pouted Marinette.
"Oh, um, not to, um, civilian me," Chat admitted, a hand going up to rub the back of his neck to ease his nerves. "She told Chat Noir me."
Marinette blinked. "What? Really? Why did she-"
Chat chuckled and put a finger against her lips. "What're you, Alya Césaire? You know I can't answer all that without giving away my secret identity."
"Right," Marinette muttered, looking a little thoughtful.
"Anyways," said Chat loudly. "Apparently, she'd been in love with me since we met. Almost four years ago now. And-
“Wow, and you’d been friendzoning her all this while?” snorted Marinette. “I know exactly how she feels.”
“I’ll bet,” muttered Chat. “Your Adrien is as much an idiot as I am.”
“Hey, enough badmouthing Adrien and my kitty,” said Marinette sternly, wagging her finger in her face. “It’s not the end of the world you know."
Chat perked up. "Yes! I found out a month ago from um, mysterious sources that cannot be disclosed, that she did not succeed in getting over me!"
"And you say you have all the bad luck in the world!" Marinette beamed. Now’s your chance, ask her out.”
Chat scrunched his nose. “I can’t because of your stupid bet.”
Marinette cackled. “It was not my idea”
“Yeah, but you didn’t have to take me up on it, you know I say stupid shit all the time!” whined Chat.
“Sorry, kitty, you’re just so fun to tease.”
“ Marinette-!”
“Okay, okay,” she laughed. “I’ll try to do this, but only for you.”
“ Only for me, sure, sure,” said Chat sarcastically. “Not because you want to be able to get your Adrien by the collar and-”
She smacked him with a pillow. “Will you help me or no !”
Oh boy.
“S-Sure.”
They both sat up in her bed and Marinette schooled her expression into a serious one. “Adrien…”
Chat gulped. “Y-Yeah, Marinette?”
“I know this may seem strange and sudden-”
“It is not strange,” interrupted Chat.
“ Fine, ” huffed Marinette. “Adrien, I know this may seem sudden but there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time.”
She inhaled deeply.
“I’ve been in love with you since you gave me that umbrella, and I know it’s been a long time since then, and I don’t expect you to return my feelings but I just needed you to know that I love you.”
Chat’s breath hitched. “I-I love you too, Mari.”
“You say that everytime .” Marinette laughed breathily. ”You need to also prepare me for the worst case scenario, you know.”
“No need,” said Chat, his voice cracking a little. “I’m pretty sure he won’t say no to you.”
“You have too much faith in me, Chat,” sighed Marinette, leaning her head against his shoulder.
“You deserve every ounce of it,” he shrugged, hesitating only briefly before putting his arm around her.
“I’ll try to make you proud,” she giggled weakly. “I’ll tell him tomorrow.”
-o-
She didn’t.
Points for trying though, because clearly she’d asked him to come over for a round of UMS III to finally (finally!) tell him, but she didn’t ask just him, much to his chagrin. At least, he was sure she meant to, but Nino had invited himself, determined to beat the both of them at the game, and he wondered if he imagined the sly grin on Alya’s face.
“Sorry, sunshine,” she mouthed with a shrug, as Nino gushed to Marinette about having pastries while playing the game.
Well, subtlety has never been his strong suit.
Adrien wouldn’t deny that Marinette wasn’t cute when she got all nervous and blushy, but there was so much at stake, damn it.
He could still hope though, he supposed. Maybe Nino and Alya would leave early?
They did, which pleased Adrien, as he pretended to ignore the knowing smirks on his friends’ faces as they left.
And at one point, his heart was beating out of his chest when Marinette beckoned him to sit next to him, took his hands apprehensively in hers, said his name and then, he felt her breathing start to quicken.
This is it.
“I know this may seem strange and sudden,” she started, swallowing thickly. “But I… I- I mean , just sudden, not- not strange. Nope,” she laughed nervously.
Oh, Marinette...
He squeezed her hands gently, wondering if she could hear his thumping heart as he tried not to laugh and take her into his arms.
“Anyways, so, um,” continued Marinette. “The sudden… Thing . Um. I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time that um… Umbrella…”
“Umbrella?” prompted Adrien, trying to hold in his squeal of excitement. It is happening.
“Yeah, um, your umbrella,” continued Marinette, worrying her lower lip as she looked at him anxiously.
“My umbrella?” asked Adrien, pretending to be confused.
“The one you, um, lent to me?” said Marinette, “On your first day of school when I was… You know, being a bitch to you but then you were so nice to me even though I didn’t deserve it, and oh my gosh I was so mean , I’m so sorry about that Adrien! I cannot believe I-”
Digression! Digression! He thought, with alarm as Marinette deflated further and further as her ramblings turned a little incoherent.
“-It’s just that Chloe was such a Chloe back then, and I thought-”
“ Marinette !” he cut her off with a chuckle in his voice, tugging at her hands gently. She snapped out of him and blinked at him as if just realising he was here. “You were saying… Something about my umbrella?”
“What?” she asked, before shaking her head. “ Right. Umbrella. Um… I… I still have it.”
“Why?” he asked, quietly, scooting just a little closer to her.
Her eyes widened in panic, as her gaze darted around her room before finally landing on her closet. “Um… Um…. UM……. I- I just…. Wait a second!” And then she was ripping her hands out of his grip and running towards the closet where he knew she kept that umbrella.
This… This was not part of the plan.
Now he was in the dark , because he didn’t know what his Princess was thinking!
In seconds, she was back in front of him, the umbrella thrust out as she pushed it into his hands.
“I, um, just thought it was about time I returned it,” she said, almost hysterically.
Adrien stilled. “Is… Is that what you wanted to tell me? That you kept my umbrella all this time?”
Marinette nodded once, rocking on her feet as Adrien stood up as well. “Really, Marinette?” he asked, leaning in a little closer. She was right there. He could smell the vanilla and toffee off of her! He could, literally , kiss her right now.
To her credit, she didn’t flinch or move back. She did lie though - Of course, Adrien! Three years is a long time to be keeping an umbrella that is not mine, hahahahahah - not recognising Adrien’s attempt at giving her a chance to backtrack and go back to the script , for what it was.
He wondered if he should just go, To Hell With The Bet , and never admit that to Marinette; she’d made that bet with Chat and not Adrien after all. But then again, if all went to plan, Marinette would eventually know Adrien was Chat and then she would know that he lied, and she hated liars but then again, she was lying right now and not telling him she was in love with him and making this hard for everyone involved.
OH, GODS. The moral dilemma of it all.
He locked his fingers with her very loosely.
“Thanks, Mari,” he said, looking down at her as she still stared at him wide-eyed, with her bright baby blues. “For keeping it safe. And in such great condition.”
“N-No problem,” she said breathily, still when he tucked a strand of hair behind her hair. “A-Anything fo-for my good friend.”
Adrien startled at that, blinking at her as she let out a soft groan and deflated completely, and despite the amused hysteria seeping into him, he couldn’t help but hug her as her forehead came to a rest on his chest.
He thought he heard a muffled, “I’m such an idiot.”
He chuckled and hugged her tighter. “Oh, Marinette. You’re so cute.”
-o-
"He called me cute!" pouted Marinette. "How was I supposed to function after that!"
"What a funny coincidence, I called my girl cute today too!" Chat grinned. He didn't even try to tame the smug look in his eyes as Marinette spun in her chair, eyes on the ceiling, a dreamy smile on her face. "And the blush on her face was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. And honestly, if you could just hurry up, I'd like the chance to kiss my girl, please."
Marinette snorted. "Concede the bet, and you can."
"Never,"  he retorted, regretting it immediately.
-o-
Over the next week, Adrien had the honour of witnessing firsthand the numerous ways Marinette could sabotage herself, while simultaneously giving his patience a really good exercise.
(
“Adrien, do- do you want to go on a walk to the park with me,” she’d asked, picnic basket in hand, as she shifted nervously on her feet. “There’s something I want to tell you.”
“Of course, Marinette!” he’d said, gathering all his composure, as he followed her to the park.
“Any special reason for this?” he had asked, hoping that would prompt her into saying something.
Well, it did. But not the thing he wanted to hear. “Um, b-because the weather is so great,” she’d laughed nervously, before fumbling with her phone. “I- I should ask Alya and Nino to join us as well!! It would be rude of me otherwise, they’re our friends, right? Right.”
And he’d flopped onto the grass on his back with a groan to glare at the gReAt WeAtHer’s blue skies as she diverted her attention to invite Alya and Nino.
)
And one of the most emotional metaphorical roller-coaster he’d be on...
(
“ God, Adrien I love you!!!” she squealed as he handed her a roll of that fabric she’d gushed to Chat about.
His heart had seized, and the words ‘I love you, too’ were on the tip of his tongue, when she flailed, very reminiscent of his college days, and hurriedly backtracked, “I- I mean, as a good friend. A great friend who got me something I’ve had my eye on for days!!! Yep.”
In his mind, he’d fallen to the floor dramatically on his knees while apologising for calling Marinette his ‘good friend’.
)
He supposed that was nothing compared to that one night as Chat.
She was frowning at him, kneeling right in front of him as she glared at the tip of his nose.
“I can do this.”
“ Yes , you can. You must, Princess.”
“I will do this, even if it’s so you can ask your girl out.”
“ Yes , you will.”
"We both  deserve love, kitty."
"Yes, we do."
Then, surprising the everloving shit out of him, she took his face in both her hands, each of her hand splayed across his cheeks, thumb softly caressing his cheekbones as she held him. Her blue eyes were burning with seriousness, their faces inches apart. Adrien suspected that in that moment, he had stopped breathing.
“Adrien,” she said, and the thrill of when she said his name like that, made him shiver in her hands. “I love you, so, so much.”
And then, she proceeded to kiss the tip of his nose.
Chat Noir had never been so still in his life, except when posing for photos, he supposed. Though Vincent would have his head for the “stiffness”. Adrien could feel the heat on his cheeks, no doubt being felt by Marinette, who was now looking at him anxiously and god , she really needed to stop biting her lower lip like that.
He tried to say something, he really did. “Guh.”
Marinette withdrew with a groan, her forehead dropping on Chat’s shoulder. “That was too much wasn’t it?”
Just right , if Adrien was being honest. “Guh.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” said Marinette not paying his stupor much mind, sitting up straight again, waving her hand as if dispelling smoke. “I need a new strategy.”
)
It would’ve been so cute if it wasn’t so frustrating.
He also lost count of how many times he had contemplated just taking her face in his hands and seriously telling her how much he loved her before asking her out on a date himself, because his Princess was apparently courageous about everything except for confessing her feelings.
And hopefully kiss her some.
Sigh.
The kissing. Oh, how he wanted to kiss her.
She didn’t make it easy for him, or for herself it would seem.
It was endearing, all the same.
The resolution of his conundrum took about two more weeks of torturous nights of practicing and days of wanting to combust, but they both got there in the end. It was an uphill task, and involved one (1) iconic black umbrella, some roses and a box of macarons, but they did it.
Adrien decided that those weeks of thin patience, and wanting to combust on the spot were all worth it in the end.

Exiting the chilly confines of his ride to school, Adrien can’t wait to fall into the warmth that his friends emanate whenever he enters into their presence. They were waiting for him at the bottom of the staircase before heading to class together. Alya and Nino were talking among themselves, with Marinette slightly out of the circle listening and munching on her breakfast.
“Hey guys!” He greeted them as he arrived at their spot.
Nino fist-bumped him with a greeting, Alya warmly welcomed him, and Marinette just waved.
Adrien took a closer look at her and realised that she had dark circles under her eyes. She also looked unbelievably tired with how her eyes hardly focused on anything; he grew worried.
“Marinette, hey, did you sleep last night?”
“Don’t worry sunshine, she just woke up way earlier today to help in the bakery. She’ll be fine,” Alya conveyed what Marinette had shared earlier on.
Adrien, still concerned even with Alya’s assurance, opened his mouth to say something, only to be stopped by Marinette looking at him and lightly shaking her head, asking him to drop it. No one can know the sudden change in dynamics between them.
Adrien was clearly defiant when they talked about it yesterday, ever so slightly trying to push his luck, but he still accepted her proposal nonetheless. Though, it hurts that he can’t be there for his lady when he evidently had the power to do so.
But he wasn’t the Black Cat Miraculous holder for nothing.
They walked to their lockers to get their necessary items before heading to class. Adrien took his time to gather his items, making sure no one was left in the locker room. Alya and Nino chatted on their way out, unaware that Adrien had snatched Marinette away from their backs.
“Adrien!”
“I just wanted to make sure you’re okay,” he placed her down beside the door and released his hold from her waist, resting his hands on her shoulders. “Why didn’t you tell me you had to wake up earlier today? I wouldn’t have kept you up last night, would have let you get home, no questions asked.”
If he was Chat Noir right now, she would be able to see his cat ears and tail drooping down.
“Slipped my mind. Don’t worry about it, I’m doing just fine,” she smiled.
“You say that now...”
Marinette ran her fingers through his hair, “don’t worry your pretty head over this, let’s go before we’re late!”
“Marinette! You know I’m here for you, right?”
But she had already turned and left the locker room.
He huffed.
.
Adrien knew he was right to worry about Marinette. The moment he entered the classroom, she was in the middle of breaking up a fight between their classmates. True to his word, he could only sit there and watch her settle the issue like the class president she is.
He was starting to feel slightly tormented with the way things were, but he knew he had to keep his emotions in check. He didn’t want to cause more trouble than necessary and he trusted that his lady would come to him if she’s really feeling suffocated.
He’ll just try again later.
Throughout the day, Marinette attended to her classmates on issues they raised. She had also doubled down on her efforts to make sure no one gets akumatised, always on the lookout for anyone who’s feeling down and going ahead to comfort them.
The lunch bell finally rang, and Adrien was delighted that he could get to Marinette’s side. Until he remembered that he had to go back to the mansion for lunch. He cursed. He sent a text to Marinette, asking if it’s okay for her to meet up with him for the last 15 mins of lunch break.
She was okay with it.
.
His lunch was like most other days, alone, but he considered himself lucky as he’s able to get away from the mansion promptly. Adrien devoured his lunch in the most elegant way possible, Nathalie was still around after all.
The ride back to school was a blur, but he ran out of the car as soon as he saw Marinette sitting at the staircase. He was not expecting her to be here, but in the canteen instead.
“Oh, I was helping my parents, you know how hectic it can be once we have a massive order,” she filled in.
He frowned, “my lady, you could’ve told me, I would have brought a packed lunch for you.”
“Dearest Chaton, there’s no need to. I had lunch, I live in a bakery after all,” she giggled at his silliness. “Besides, that massive order is finally done, and I do wonder how you are going to bring lunch to me,” she teased.
Adrien flushed and led them to a secluded area, far away from the canteen. “A-anyway, is there anything I can do to help? I don’t want you to get overwhelmed.”
Marinette thought about it for a while, but Adrien just voiced his thoughts.
“How about the bakery? Allow me to help when there’s a massive order like this one.”
“You aren’t free either, Misterbug, don’t worry about it.” She brought her hand to the hair behind his ears and caressed it. “What you can do instead, is to make sure our classmates are okay. Reach out when they are feeling down. Same goes for you, don’t forget that.”
Adrien beamed, at her touch and at him being able to offer her his assistance. “Don’t worry Buguinette, you can count that on me.”
.
5 minutes before the end of class, Marinette told Alya to head home without her and excused herself to the toilet. Once she returned to class, the room was dark and empty, with her belongings all nicely packed and placed on her table. Marinette tiredly walked back to her seat and sat down, staring into space. She was so lost in thought that she didn’t hear the doors opening.
Marinette must’ve been worn out for the day if she didn’t acknowledge that Adrien had entered the room and plotted himself next to her.
Worried, he took hold of her hand and squeezed it. “Marinette, you’re not alone in this.”
“Mhm.” Marinette had turned her head towards him and muttered, but her eyes were not focused. Adrien was unsure if she actually knew he was there, or if she was still in a daze. At a loss on how to proceed with this, he did the only thing he knew that would get a reaction out of her.
He leaned in to gently nuzzle her cheek and purred. He continued his ministrations for a while longer before he felt a hand lightly settled itself within his hair. He stopped to look at her, Marinette now had her eyes closed and had her head slightly tilted away to give him more access. Her shoulders seemed to relax even more, and the hand that he held earlier on had squeezed back.
Adrien felt Marinette grabbed his hair and pulled his face to hers, to continue whatever he was doing to her. And he complied.
He nosed her cheek and purred, brushing his lips at any skin contact he had with her. That combination brought Marinette to pull him in even more, and Adrien changed his course to nuzzle at her neck. His free hand went to her waist and pulled her in closer, pressing her body to his and closing any gaps they had before.
“Adrien…”
Marinette sighed at the contact and he tightened his hold on her, his previously closed lips now grazing his teeth on her neck and placing open kisses wherever they went. Marinette gasped at his touch and Adrien nibbled in response.
“AHA!”
They jumped apart at the booming voice that came from none other than Alya.
“You two have been acting weird ever since this morning at the lockers—”
“W-what?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, Agreste. Stealing Mari from our backs?” Adrien realised that Nino was also in the classroom. “Seriously? You may be sneaky, but Marinette isn’t exactly subtle.”
He regarded Marinette, who was silently looking down. He panicked.
“A-Alya, w-wait! Not so loud!”
“What? Am I exposing something? Nino, can you believe this?”
“I-I can explain!”
“Oh rea—“
Everything that occurred in the next few minutes happened so fast that Adrien had no idea what’s going on anymore. He was currently standing in a park, hand still clutched within Marinette’s.
He just knew that Marinette had suddenly burst out laughing, grabbed his hand and their items, and ran out of the classroom.
“Oh my gosh, did you see their faces?” she cackled.
“My lady, I’m pretty sure my face right now matches theirs,” he chuckled. “Everything was in a daze.”
She laughed harder, and Adrien was delighted to see her enjoying herself at the absurdness of it all.
“Feeling better?”
“Yeah. Thanks, Minou!”
.
Marinette grinned stupidly at the fond memories she has had with Adrien earlier that day and was doodling nonsense on the homework she was trying so desperately to complete. A knock on her window brought an end to her endless replaying and doodling. She glanced at her window and went to her skylight to unlock it.
“How are you feeling, Buguinette?” Chat asked as they moved down from her bed to allow for more space.
“Oh you know, the usual. What’s that in your arms?”
“Oh! Um, just… something to remind you that I’m here always,” he said as he handed her a Chat Noir plushie and a black paw print keychain.
She took hold of them and had some ideas as to where to place them.
He scratched his neck, “it’s not much, but I hope it helps—”
Marinette tackled him to the floor, her gifts still in her hand. “Thank you so so much mon Chaton,” she enveloped him in a bear hug.
Chat took a moment to focus his sight before he wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled her hair. “Anytime, my lady.”
They stayed in the position for a while before Marinette pulled back, “which reminds me!”
Chat let go and looked at her curiously. She carefully placed her gifts on her table before heading over to her drawer and took out a macaron. Chat’s tail swung excitedly at the sight of it.
“Here you go,” she smiled.
“Oh my gosh, Marinette! Thank you! May I?”
She nodded and he began peeling the plastic wrap from the macaron and took a bite.
“Hmm!” He moaned. “It’s passion fruit! My favourite flavour! And it still tastes so fresh!”
“I bake them every Sunday. Who knows when the perfect opportunity is going to come up. It finally did after 4 years,” she mumbled her last sentence.
But Chat heard it nonetheless and started crying.
“C-Chat?”
“Marinette, y-you never gave up on us.”
“Of course. Never.” She held his hands and regarded him, wiping away his flowing tears. She hugged him and kissed his forehead.
Hand in hand, with the soft and loving gaze they threw at each other, they exchanged promises that regardless of what happens in the future, they’ll have each other.
Always.

(LATE) NaNoWriMo Day 4
Daminette pls. But going off the “Wonder Woman’s mother was a Ladybug” thing. Sister/mentor/(personal favorite) treating Marinette like her mom. Whatever you like.
Okay so this turned out as a general “found family” kind of thing and Daminette doesn’t happen until later. Adrien is a decent human being in this because I’m so tired of writing and reading salt that I’m just going to leave the readers to assume Adrien actually had character growth in the show and stopped being a pushy, petty, sacrificial child.
Anyway, this thing was 2340 words so buckle in babes!
Diana Prince perhaps should have been aware of the Hawkmoth problem, seeing as she was an employee of the Louvre. But do not blame her, she would have known the problem her city was going through if she hadn’t been on leave to deal with the other side of the world’s problems.
It was a year before she finally got to return. A year that had so much happen within it. She finally learned of the Hawkmoth issue when Hal was complaining about this reoccurring video about “Miraculous” that also managed to delete itself. If he got to watch it as soon as it appeared, he could only get halfway through before it disappeared again. He couldn’t trace it to the city it came from. Ladybug and Chat Noir never said where they were from before the video deleted itself. But he was also complaining about the Miraculous. What were they? What did they do? Ladybug and Chat Noir only said they held those Miraculous.
Diana knew. Diana nearly threw a fit at the knowledge that the miraculi were active again, somewhere in the world, and she never knew.
On her first day back at the Louvre, her boss filled her in on everything that had happened and she wanted to strangle this “Hawkmoth” and “Mayura.”
Representing the Justice League, Diana, as Wonder Woman, managed to find Ladybug and Chat Noir while they were out on a patrol. Ladybug was stiffly polite and Chat Noir was acting like a puppy getting adopted. Several meetings later, Diana learned that Ladybug didn’t know how to respond to the daughter of a previous holder.
In her meetings with them, Diana could only keep thinking of one thing: whoever their previous mentor was, they sucked. Ladybug and Chat Noir didn’t know much about their powers. They didn’t know the history of their Miraculous. They didn’t know how to properly fight and had been winging their battles since day 1.
Diana found herself connecting to the two strongly. Ladybug was like the little sister she never had. Chat Noir was like a son who melted in any show of affection - which strangely also included compliments on growth.
“I think what you two need is to get out of the city and learn how to fight from someone who has taught kids how to protect themselves quickly,” Diana found herself saying during a break in a training session.
“But what if Hawkmoth sends out an Akuma while we’re gone?” Ladybug fretted.
“You have the horse miraculous, yes?” Diana nodded to the egg box.
“Oh… you want me to take that with us?” Ladybug’s brow furrowed even more.
“Of course! Right now, I’d say nowhere is safer for the miraculous than with you. The temple is still regrowing, they won’t know what to do with your box while it is still incomplete. But, if you are so anxious about leaving Paris, I might be able to convince my friend and one of his sons to come here instead.”
“Really?” Chat Noir perked.
Diana gave him an easy smile. “I’m sure he’d be happy to.”
“For us?” Ladybug asked.
“You two are like my family by now,” Diana held out her hands. “And my friend will do anything for family.”
Bruce and Damian Wayne were in Paris by the end of the week. 16-year-old Damian was still a brat, but he was still a growing teenage boy forgetting old customs and learning about the real world. Bruce thought getting him around other young superheroes might help- he was horrendous at socializing with civilians due to still believing he was superior.
That was a horrible mistake, Robin’s first act was to insult everything about Ladybug and Chat Noir. After a good long lecture from both Bruce and Diana, Robin apologized to both… in a way that left them more confused than accepting of him.
A week later, Bruce tried the “let’s have a civilian day” card. Ladybug nearly threw a fit.
“We aren’t supposed to know each other’s identities!” She recited.
“Why not?” Robin scrunched his face. “I know all of-”
“You’re Gotham’s superheroes,” Chat sighed. “You don’t deal with a magical emotional terrorist. Ladybug and I are not immune to Akumas, we aren’t immune to strong emotions. What if one of us gets Akumatized and we know the other’s identity? We could tell Hawkmoth. We could succeed in taking the other’s Miraculous. And then what? He wins. We have to stay secret until Hawkmoth is gone.” He said it with practice, the concept having been drilled into his mind by Ladybug during their earlier days.
“I’m sorry, Batman and Robin, we would like to, but please understand that for the safety of Paris, we literally cannot,” Ladybug gave a sad smile.
They were there for another week before Robin, after pinning Ladybug with the end of his katana, suggested just hacking CTV cameras to track Akumas.
“It might work,” Chat grinned, before getting a light punch to the stomach and a “constant vigilance!” from Batman.
“I surrender,” Ladybug told Robin before pushing Robin’s katana away and pushing herself into a sitting position. “It might. But I don’t have high hopes- kwami can’t even be seen on camera. What’s to say the effects of a Miraculous can’t either?”
“But,” Chat was buzzing, “you’re Cure always does! We’ve seen it on the news enough times.”
Ladybug pursed her lips. “I don’t know the first thing about hacking.”
“Good thing we do,” Robin cracked a grin.
“Do you normally find such joy in illegal activities?”
“Are you kidding me?” Chat’s voice was shrill and Ladybug had turned to Diana with wide eyes.
“Is it true?”
“We didn’t tamper with the footage besides getting it, if that’s what you’re asking,” Robin shrugged.
“But- but-” Chat sputtered, his cat pupils in fearful slits and tears glossing his eyes.
“Chat?” Ladybug softly called.
“That’s,” Chat’s bottom lip trembled and he looked between Ladybug and Diana. “That’s my house. Hawkmoth can’t be my dad- he can’t be!” Chat shook his head in denial.
Ladybug paused in trying to comfort Chat, now realizing the boy before her was Adrien, the boy that used to be her crush. She was unsure on how to continue.
“Chat,” Diana spoke, moving forward to slowly place her hands on his shoulders. “Whether or not your father is Hawkmoth, somebody is sending out Akumas from your house. Since this is personal now, do you want to go with us? We’ll understand if you don’t.”
Chat blinked several times and looked between each person in his company. “I- I’ll go. You’ll need my help to get inside anyway.”
And so, in the middle of the next almost harmless Akuma attack, Adrien stayed in his room rather than go out. He popped open his window. Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, and Ladybug swung inside and they began their journey through the house. Adrien led them to Gabriel’s study and faced the portrait of his mother.
“There’s a safe behind the portrait. It’s where I found the grimoire. And now that I think about it, the peacock miraculous was in there too. I didn’t think much about it at the time,” Adrien rubbed his arms. Wonder Woman reached out and he grabbed her fingers in comfort.
“What’s done is done, do you think the portrait could also lead to where Hawkmoth is?” Batman asked.
“I think?” Adrien scrunched his face.
Robin walked up to the portrait, running his fingers around it. “There certainly are buttons on this, under the guise of being mosaic pieces.”
Adrien stepped up to it, fitting his fingers onto the supposed buttons, and before anyone could protest, he pressed them. The floor below them opened up and the elevator began to descend. They quickly fitted themselves into the tiny space.
Gabriel was standing in the middle of a garden, before something brightly white.
“Father?” Adrien’s voice was hardly audible but Gabriel Agreste still whipped around and saw the group of five.
“Adrien!” He barked, unsure of who to call. “My son…”
“Father, no,” Adrien moaned, backing away. “How could you!”
“Adrien, I’ve been doing this for us! I’m bringing Emilie back. Don’t you want to see your mother again?” Gabriel stepped aside, tilting his head towards the coffin.
“I would, but not this way,” Adrien shook his head, looking away from his father and the coffin. “I’ve grieved and moved on. Mom is dead and you shouldn’t be trying to change that!”
Gabriel frowned and narrowed his eyes. “Fine then. Nooroo, Dark Wings, Rise!”
He called his Akuma back and sent another one, to whom they didn’t know. But what they were trying to do was get the brooch back. Gabriel, Hawkmoth, had almost lost from the shock of seeing his son transform into one of his own enemies, Chat Noir.
Mayura joined, but Robin was quick to bring her down when she had doubled over from the sickness her Miraculous was causing her. Volpina made another return, hindering a good portion of the entire operation. Chat Noir had accidentally cataclysm-ed the entire platform, sending everyone down. There, in the dark and in the knee-high water, they continued the battle. Hawkmoth’s cane was shattered and he hid behind Volpina and her illusions.
Volpina held up a good fight, but her mistake was physically attacking Ladybug. That had cemented her as the real Volpina.
“Finally,” Volpina screeched, hands on Ladybug’s earrings. “Finally! You little bug will finally be gone!”
She had gotten one earring out before Robin had sent a flying kick towards her, and the two of them began wrestling in the water. Ladybug was slowly disappearing, and the familiar form of Marinette was coming out of the suit.
“Tikki, Spots off! Where’s my other earring?” The two of them began hunting the earring.
Chat Noir’s timer was finally up, and he returned into Adrien and was kicked away by his own father. “Plagg!”
Diana finally managed to shove Hawkmoth’s face under the water and rip the brooch off and left Gabriel to find Marinette. Batman held the struggling Gabriel by his arms.
“What’s her Akuma?” Robin called, having learned the same trick.
“It should be her necklace! Don’t destroy it, we need Ladybug to purify it!” Adrien responded, finally finding Plagg and giving him a soggy slice of cheese. His night vision back, he dove under and plucked the earring from the ground and pushed it into Marinette’s hand.
“Tikki, spots on!” Marinette called and Ladybug shot at Volpina and ripped the necklace off of her. The familiar sound of the Akuma’s wings managed to be heard over the infuriated screeches of Lila and the struggling grunts of Gabriel. Ladybug caught and released the Akuma.
Emilie’s coffin was found in perfect condition after the Cure was cast. Gabriel and Lila were given to the police. Afterward, Adrien and Marinette were standing in front of it.
“Do you think perhaps she isn't actually dead?” Adrien asked, reaching out to touch the coffin while Diana came walking up behind them.
“A misused Miraculous can be damaged, and a damaged Miraculous will injure anyone who uses it,” Diana explained, taking her circlet off.
“I had thought Nathalie was sick with the same thing as Mom, they both started coughing before it began to actually start crippling them. I wonder why she was using the Peacock, then,” Adrien trembled.
“The temple might be able to help,” Marinette suggested. “They are the ones who know everything about the Miraculous. And, now we finally have the whole box.”
“You might be right, sister,” Diana placed a hand on Marinette’s shoulder. “But don’t put all your faith in them. They might not be able to bring her back.”
“If-” Adrien began, his voice trembling. “If they don’t, where am I going to go?”
Diana offered her hand again and he squeezed her fingers. “If you want, I would take you.”
“You would?” Adrien raised his eyebrows.
“Of course,” Diana grinned. “Marinette is like the little sister I never had. You, you are like a son to me. Marinette has her family and has grown with guidance. You… when I came, you were like what I imagine Bruce feels when he found his sons. Someone who needed guidance. Someone who needed an adult there who cared.”
Adrien looked on the verge of tears.
Emilie truly was dead, when they gave her to the temple. Adrien changed his last name to Prince and stayed with Diana. Marinette let him keep Plagg, but changed Tikki for a zodiac, taking Mullo. She didn’t want both the black cat and the ladybug active at the same time anymore.
Diana stayed around in the bakery while not on Justice League business or at the Louvre, and got to know Tom and Sabine quite well. Marinette and her relationship strengthened, and Marinette quite liked to tease Adrien at school by calling him “her nephew.” Nobody really knew why.
As they grew older, Adrien and Marinette kept in touch in their civilian lives and stayed as partners in the superhero world. But, Adrien never re-entered Marinette’s love life. No, he got his kicks out of returning Marinette’s teasing here.
Damian Wayne and Marinette had gotten to know each other in the month he and Bruce had been in Paris. Marinette had a delivery to them, and then continued having deliveries. That was on Bruce’s part and him trying to set Damian up. Well, it worked, and the two fell into an awkward “I like you” stage after the downfall of Hawkmoth. When Marinette graduated, she had gone to Gotham University so she could be closer to Damian and they really did start dating then.
Adrien got his kicks from this. Whenever Diana came for a visit, Adrien was with her and always asked how Damian was treating his aunt. There were normally angry, muttered snide remarks in Cantonese from Marinette and smug replies in Mandarin from Adrien.
Life was as peaceful as the life of a superhero could be for our young, found family.

There Was Only One Bed
Pairing: Adrienette
Warning: Highly NSFW. Basically smut.
Read on Ao3
I’m going to try this thing of putting my fics on Tumblr as well as ao3, pls enjoy
Marinette had been excited for a road trip across Europe, taking in the sights with her friends and enjoying a few weeks of just sheer fun before starting university. The group of four were all going to stay in Paris, so they would see each other, but it wouldn’t really be the same. This was going to be their last hurrah.
It was really a miracle that Adrien was allowed to come along. His father laid down some strict rules, of course, but it wasn’t much of a fight. Gabriel had been a lot more easygoing as Adrien planned for university, perhaps realizing his iron hold over the young man would be ending soon.
Privately, Marinette thought that the elder Agreste’s attitude change coming right around the time Hawkmoth stopped attacking was something to consider, but she didn’t want to worry Adrien with those concerns.
Which meant she never told Chat, either—the two had revealed themselves to each other, and while nothing seemed to change between them, they were better friends from that point, relaxed around each other and comfortable teasing and joking.
Marinette, Adrien, Nino, and Alya found themselves at a hotel in Lagos, Portugal. Adrien was the best at Portugese, so he talked to the check-in manager to book some rooms.
“It’s nice that Agreste Senior is paying for all our lodging,” Alya commented as the other three waited.
“Yeah, but too bad it was just so Adrien wouldn’t stay in a hostel with peasants,” Nino muttered.
Adrien returned with four keycards. “Okay, got the rooms.”
Alya snatched two of the cards out of his hand. “Dibs on sleeping with Nino!”
“No one was fighting for that,” Adrien said with a laugh. “So, Mari, I guess that leaves you with me?”
“Y-yeah,” she said, her cheeks turning pink. They were just friends sharing a room. There was nothing to read into that.
**
As Adrien opened the door to the bedroom, Marinette saw a problem right away.
“Uh—there’s only one bed.”
“Shit,” Adrien muttered. “They did say the hotel is almost sold out…I swear I said two people in the room, though.”
“M-maybe they thought we were a couple?”
Adrien glanced away from her, and said, “So, I’ll take the floor.”
“No,” Marinette replied. “You’ve been doing most of the driving today. Take the bed.”
“I’m not going to leave you on the floor,” he said. “You take the bed.”
She bit her lip, glancing at the bed again, noting how large it was. “We could share? I-I mean, we’ve been in tighter spots before…”
“Yeah,” Adrien said with a grin. “We’ll share. So, uh, do you want to take the shower first?”
Marinette nodded before darting into the bathroom. Once Adrien heard the shower running, he started to move the suitcases, setting them both at the end of the bed before lying on the mattress to see just how big it really was. There was definitely room for two people there, but it was going to be very close.
He’d stopped flirting with his partner after discovering she was Marinette. The poor girl never seemed quite comfortable around his civilian side, so he didn’t want to cross a line and lose the most amazing person in his life.
He stripped out of the clothes he’d been wearing all day and stood in the room in just his boxers, grabbing a fresh pair to change into after his shower. He tried very hard not to think about the fact that on just the other side of the wall, Marinette was naked and wet and…he focused on reciting the periodic table in his head instead.
The water stopped, and not long after Marinette emerged, a fluffy white robe wrapped around her body. She gave him a small smile and murmured, “I, uh, forgot to bring a change of clothes in there.”
“No problem,” he said, his voice catching half in his throat. He headed into the bathroom, praying that Marinette wouldn’t glance down below his waist.
There was no way he was going to survive the night like this—so he took some time in the shower to stroke his cock, letting his fantasies run wild for just a little while. He imagined Marinette slipping into the bathroom, pulling back the shower curtain to join him. Would she touch him with her soft hands, or move to her knees to wrap her pink lips around his cock?
He felt a little dirty thinking about his sweet friend like this, but he knew he’d feel even worse if he let his dick accidentally poke her in the night, so fantasy it was. Fantasy Marinette wasn’t going to judge him for wanting her.
He washed the evidence of his fantasizing down the drain with the soap suds and pulled on a fresh pair of boxers before leaving the bathroom. He didn’t see the need to sleep in anything different just because Marinette was there—and he hadn’t actually packed pajamas, anyways.
He was ready to go back out into the hotel room and face her again. Or, at least he thought that, until he saw her dressed in pink satin pajamas, a tank top and shorts both lined with black lace, sitting on the edge of the bed brushing her hair.
Of course, he wouldn’t know that she’d held onto this particular pajama set just for a moment like this, and her heart was racing as she was highly aware of just how much skin she was showing.
Her hairbrush hit a snarl and she whimpered as the brush tugged at her head. Adrien didn’t realize he was stepping towards her until he asked, “Do you want some help with that?”
“Are you good with hair?” she asked, but she handed him the brush.
He sat beside her, trying not to focus on how her wet hair made her shirt cling to her skin, her nipples poking against the fabric across her breast. He gently ran the brush through her hair, easing out a knot with his fingers. The still-wet strands slid across his fingertips like silk.
“That feels nice,” she murmured as he worked out the knot and pulled the brush through her hair. He pushed gently on her scalp, letting the bristles press against her head, and she moaned.
It was a soft sound, but enough to get Adrien’s dick to respond again. He glared down at his lap before handing the brush back to Marinette and saying, “Well, I think I’m going to go to sleep now.”
“Y-yeah, good idea,” she said, her heart sinking slightly at how quickly he moved away from her, practically diving under the covers. She stood to slip into the bed on her side, turning off the bedside lamp before crossing her arms over her body, trying desperately to avoid touching Adrien and make everything even more awkward.
As she started to relax, her hands slipped to rest beside her body, and she ended up with one palm resting on Adrien’s leg. She didn’t want to move it—she was comfortable, and his leg was a safe enough spot.
“Uh, Marinette?” he asked suddenly, his voice sounding strange. She reflexively flexed her hand and that was not his leg.
“Sorry!” she cried, snatching her hand away. “I—I really should just sleep on the floor.” She started to get out of the bed, but suddenly, he was holding her hand.
“Stay, please,” he murmured. “I’ll give you some more space.”
She glanced at him, trying to read his expression in the dim moonlight that streamed in through the window. “A-all right.”
She settled back into the bed, turning onto her side so she could face him.
“What is it?” he asked, also turning, towards her.
“I—um. It’s nothing. Never mind.”
“Marinette,” he murmured.
“It’s, um—is that, uh, because of…me?”
“Is what?”
“You know,” she muttered, her eyes flicking down, looking in the general direction of his dick.
“Oh,” he replied, his cheeks turning red. “I, uh—yeah—I’m sorry, this has to be too weird for you—”
“No, it’s fine, I shouldn’t have—”
Their eyes met, and they both started giggling, a small sound that soon turned to loud laughter.
“I just don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” Adrien said.
She nodded. “That’s what I’m worried about too. I don’t want to touch you if you don’t like it—”
He tried to stifle another laugh. “My Lady, not liking it is the opposite of the problem.”
Marinette sighed, and shifted in the bed, moving closer to him. “Can we just get comfortable to sleep? And whatever happens with what your body parts or my body parts do—we can ignore it. We’re both adults, we can handle this.”
“Sure,” Adrien replied. He moved slightly, angling himself closer to her, letting one arm drape around her waist. Their legs were tangled together, his thigh resting between her legs. It was much more intimate, but it was comfortable.
She shut her eyes, and he watched her, the way her eyelashes fluttered against her cheeks as her lips parted. He could stay awake all night, just watching her, knowing he was lucky enough to hold her close like this—but his erection was pressed awkwardly against her hip and he wanted so much more.
“Marinette?” he murmured, and her eyes shot open. “I—if you don’t want to that’s fine, but—can I kiss you?”
She smiled, but instead of answering, just pressed slightly closer to him, her lips so close to his, letting him close the last few millimeters.
He kissed her, finally, and her lips were so soft against his, her hand resting against his chest, her legs clenching, holding him tightly against her. One small, sweet kiss turned to two, three, and they were less sweet, more passion and more hands roaming, until she let out a soft moan.
“Make that sound again,” he muttered, his hands at her waist, slipping under the hem of her shirt. “Please.”
She gasped, and her hips rolled, the apex of her legs pressing against his thigh. “Oh, Adrien…”
He pushed up her shirt, and she shifted, moving to straddle him as she tossed the shirt to the side of the bed. He sat up so he could keep kissing her, lips on her neck, trailing down to her exposed breasts that he cupped in his hands, each small touch pulling more moans from her. His lips found her nipple, sucking at the peak, gently taking it between his teeth.
Marinette groaned, her hips pushing against him, and he could feel her heat against his cock through the thin fabrics that separated them. He moved his head, turning his mouth to her other breast, as his hands wandered lower, gently tugging at the waistband of her shorts.
His fingers rested there, unsure if he should push any more, until he heard her whimper, “Please, Adrien, touch me…”
He pushed his hand down into her shorts, and was instantly rewarded by the feeling of warm skin and the knowledge that she wasn’t wearing underwear. He brushed his fingertips over her folds and felt how wet she was, so wet that his fingers slipped inside her easily, making her moan loudly, beautifully.
“God I want you,” he murmured, lifting his head again to kiss her lips, her jaw, her neck. “I’ve wanted you for so long…”
“I’ve dreamed about being with you,” she admitted. “This is so much better...don’t stop.”
He wasn’t planning on stopping. His fingers curled inside her pussy, and she whined, her hips moving faster as she fucked herself on his hand. He watched her breasts bounce each time she rolled her hips, and he knew he could never go back to just imagining her again.
Her breathing picked up, and she kissed him hard before abruptly pulling back. “W-wait,” she managed to gasp.
“What is it?” he asked, pulling his hand back.
“I—I want to come with you inside me,” she said quickly, unable to look directly at him.
Adrien just smirked and casually licked her off of his fingers. “I think I can do that for you, my Lady.”
She moved her hips away from him, just long enough to shimmy her shorts down her legs while he kicked off his boxers. He turned with her in the bed again, moving to kneel over her as he kissed her.
“Please, Adrien,” she groaned between kisses. “I’ve wanted you for years, please don’t make me wait any more…”
“Years?” he asked, the new information suddenly catching him off guard. “My Lady, you know I’ve loved you since we met…”
Her eyes widened. “But—you stopped all that flirting after you knew who I was—I thought you didn’t—”
He cut off her words by kissing her deeply, trying to communicate years of love and want through his lips. “I didn’t want to lose you as a friend. You’re so important to me, Marinette.”
Her lips curved into a smirk. “Prove how important, then.”
He grinned as he gripped her hips, gently angling her so he could line up his cock with her entrance. He slowly pushed himself into her, watching her expression melt from the teasing smirk to a pleasured, wordless cry. He held her tight as he settled his cock into her, feeling her clenched tight around him.
“I love you,” she murmured, her head lolling back in pleasure. “Always loved you…”
He kissed her neck, his hips starting to move faster as he thrust into her. “My Lady, my Princess…”
She smiled, moving her legs to wrap around his hips. “Ohh, my Prince…”
Words were lost to them as they moved together, the only sound in the room their groans and the soft slap of skin against skin.
Marinette’s groans became whimpering panting cries as she clung tightly to him. “So close…Adrien…Adrien!”
He watched her as she came, searing her face and her moans into his mind, his own orgasm following soon after. He kissed her fiercely as he spilled into her, letting himself be completely enveloped with Marinette.
When they parted, she smiled at him softly before yawning. He chuckled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “We should sleep, huh?”
“Yeah,” she murmured.
“Can I keep you in my arms all night?”
“You’re so cheesy,” she replied. “But yes. Of course yes.”

Just days after beating The Riddler at his own game, the same teenage girl holds off The Joker until Batman arrives!
“We had to amputate him below the knee,” Arkham doctor says. “There was too much glass in the wound, it cut several muscles, tendons, and arteries. The shattered bone didn’t help.”

oooOOOooo
Their trip to Gotham was ending early, all because of her.
Marinette woke up in the hospital. Professor Mendeleiev was there. She apparently fainted due to asphyxiation. She had a cut on her hand, and rugburn on her feet, and had been out for nine hours. The doctor told her it was a miracle she wasn’t more heavily injured after encountering the Joker. Professor Mendeleiev glared at them until they stopped talking about it.
She was discharged soon after. On the way to the hotel, Professor Mendeleiev told her what happened while she was out. The rest of the trip was canceled because of two students being attacked by the Joker, though Marinette’s confrontation with the Riddler hadn’t helped the case. They would be going home that evening. They’re leaving for the flight in two hours – 3:30pm.
“Bruce Wayne graciously paid for our flight back,” Professor Mendeleiev said. Marinette would have felt sick hearing it if she wasn’t so numb from everything.
Her parents had been informed about what happened. She should probably call them soon.
“Your friends tried to visit you in the hospital,” Professor Mendeleiev finished as they pulled up to, the now heavily guarded, hotel. “Unfortunately, only your guardian for the trip was allowed visitation, which is me.”
Her mind instantly went to Damian but- “Friends?”
An almost sad look appeared Professor Mendeleiev’s face, but it was gone so quick Marinette believed it to be imagined. “Yes. The Wayne boy and some classmates. Kim and Alix.”
Her heart lurched to her throat. Kim? Alix? She didn’t think anyone else cared anymore but…
She and Kim had distanced over the years, but when they were younger he was like her brother. She and Alix hadn’t talked much. She didn’t think either of them cared anymore.
She got out of the car. Professor Mendeleiev had brought Marinette some of her other clothes so she wasn’t wearing the bloody crop top and pajama pants. Her t-shirt and jeans were plain enough that she might be able to slide past the others she could see in the lobby.
Marinette hoped.
She walked in, Professor Mendeleiev behind her.
“Marinette!” A huge body slammed into her. Its arms wrapped around her and soon she was spinning.
“Careful, idiot,” she heard Alix say. “Don’t break her!”
The arms set her down and – oh it’s Kim. His eyes were red and puffy. A glance showed that Alix’s eyes were too. Why were they like that?
“I’m glad you’re okay,” he said genuinely.
“Me too,” Alix playfully punched her shoulder. “You beat the Joker! You’re bada-”
“Get away from her,” Another voice cut in, sharp. Marinette glanced up to see Alya keeping her distance from them, standing in front of Lila. From what she could see of the Italian, her hair was now in a single much shorter ponytail – or bun? Maybe it was a braid.
Alix crossed her arms in front of her chest. “What if I don’t want to?”
“You heard what Lila said,” Alya’s voice was angry. Marinette was numb to it. “She-”
“Alya,” Professor Mendeleiev chose that moment to step in. “I don’t care what Lila has been telling you, but stop yelling at her and her friends.”
Marinette jolted at the word. Friends.
“She needs to go to her room and pack for the flight back to Paris tonight anyway. Allow her to leave.”
Her class, most of them surrounding Lila, stared in stunned silence.
After a moment, Marinette went to the Elevator. She was given a new room key during the drive to the hotel.
She felt like the hallway security police were staring at her as she walked to her room.
They thought she was a freak. Everyone did.
When Marinette entered her room, she was immediately hit in the face.
“Marinette!” Tikki whispered, knowing there were others outside her door. “I’m so sorry, I should have gone with you I-”
“It’s okay Tikki,” Marinette was still numb, but it was better than dissociating. It was better than crying.
“No,” Tikki’s eyes were filled with shining tears. “It’s not.”
She opened her mouth to respond, but she couldn’t.
Because it wasn’t alright.
Instead of answering, she focused on her room again. She still remembered everything from the other night, but this would be her last time seeing it.
The sheets are scratchy, she remembered. The fabric was still clearly cheap.
The bed was stiff. She knew it was hard sleeping on it, but it was hard sleeping anyway for her.
Her entire hotel room was bland. A mess of off-white and white. It was bright, and it needed more color. More design to it.
She could see the creepy painting of two children in a bucket on the wall from the door. It was black and white except for the blue color of their shirts. Their eyes were still wide, but they seemed to stare at her now. Maybe they thought she was a freak too.
The familiar surroundings made it easy to spot the not-so-familiar changes she made. Her sketchbook was brightly colored, closed on her desk. Her dirty clothes were on the floor in the corner. The entire room was a mess of cut fabric and cardboard from the previous hours she spent designing and making-
The Thing.
She’d taken to calling it The Thing. She felt that if she acknowledged what it was, even in her own mind, she would break. She would break and someone would have to pick up the shattered pieces.
She cleaned up the mess. The few scraps of fabric left weren’t enough to make a design out of so she threw them away.
Marinette repacked her suitcase and backpack, making sure to account for absolutely everything. She checked once, twice. Tikki checked. Then she checked again. The only things she hadn’t packed were her phone and her sketchbook, both of which currently laid on her bed.
She still had an hour before they left to go to the airport.
The Thing was still hanging in her hotel room’s closet. It was small and cramped with only two hangers, a small shelf, and no door. She had shoved The Thing to the very back so she couldn’t see it unless she stood directly in front of the closet.
She went there now. She was staring at it.
She didn’t break, but she could feel cracks. Chips and pieces of herself fell to the ground.
Marinette’s hands shook as she took it from the closet.
She glanced at her sketchbook.
oooOOOooo
“Hi Maman, Papa,” Marinette greeted her parents.
After she finished with her little project, Tikki convinced her to call her parents. Though, she didn’t need that much convincing. It was a long flight, and she wouldn’t be able to call or message them while on it.
She still had fifty minutes left until she needed to go to the lobby.
“Marinette!” Her papa’s eyes were red and puffy too. Maman was still crying. “My little girl! Are you alright?”
“I’m okay,” her voice sounded wobbly and wrong. “I wasn’t even heavily injured.”
“That doesn’t matter,” Maman’s eyes had a fire in them. Marinette wished she still had hers. “I’m just glad you’re coming home soon.”
“We’re going to wrap you in bubble wrap,” her Papa’s voice was also wobbly. “So this can’t ever happen to our baby girl again.”
Marinette tried to imagine that, for a moment. Ladybug fighting akuma while wearing bubble wrap armor.
“I’m okay,” she said. “I know it was scary-”
“Understatement of the year!” her Maman grumbled.
“But I lived!”
“Yes, you did,” Her Papa’s voice was still wobbly, but proud too. Marinette felt her heart lurch to her throat again.
She hated it when people were worried about her.
“You not only lived,” her mother wiped her eyes, “But Marinette, they had to cut off one of his legs-”
What?
“He’ll be down for the count until he can properly use his prosthetic!”
She what?
“You may have saved more people, doing that-”
She… she did that…
She permanently and irreversibly damaged someone beyond repair.
“They even did a news article about it! My baby girl, making Gotham’s news!”
The entirety of Gotham knew she hurt the Joker. Hurt him so bad he didn’t have all of his body left.
“She’s anonymous in it though, Tom.”
No wonder the security guards were staring at her.
“Even better! We know who she is but others don’t! I’m even more proud.”
She wasn’t just a freak.
“You would be, darling.”
She was a monster.
“Marinette?” Tikki whispered.
“Honey?”
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” she tried to sound normal. Look normal. Hide her claws and flaws.
She’s a monster.
“I’ve got to finish getting ready,” she lied. It was heavy on her tongue but she didn’t care. Guilt was heavy, too heavy, but she didn’t care anymore.
“Thank you for calling us!”
“Try not to look for anymore villains!”
“I won’t,” That, she could answer honestly. “Goodbye, Maman, Papa.”
“I swear you’re her favori-” her father’s grumblings were cut off as Marinette hung up the call.
“Marinette?” Tikki tried again.
Marinette stared at her hands. She couldn’t see the blood, it wasn’t there anymore, but she could still picture it there. Blood that she caused.
She was a horrible person. Her actions were inexcusable. Monstrous.
Guilt was crushing her. It weighed on her shoulders and tongue, pushing her down and down. She waited for it to squish her like a bug. She hoped it would squish her like the bug she is.
Someone knocked on her door.
Marinette was numb. Like a zombie, she got up to open it. She already knew who it was.
Damian’s hair was messy. He wore a gray hoodie. She suspected he had the hood up until recently to try and conceal his identity as Damian Wayne.
She remembered how as Robin, when she punched The Riddler, he had been messy then too. Now she knew why – he had rushed to change into costume to help.
The memory hit her hard. She could see both of them standing there – Damian and Robin.
She looked at him. She didn’t break. It was a close thing.
His eyes weren’t red or puffy. His hands were stuffed in his pockets.
He looked normal.
Marinette wondered how much makeup he wore to hide his lack of sleep from being a superhero. She didn’t have hers on right now.
“Angel,” His voice cracked, and he cleared his throat. “Are you… okay?”
She managed to smile. It was fake. “Why wouldn’t I be?” she tried to joke.
It fell flat.
Without another word, she stepped back and opened the door wider for him. He walked in, pausing on the creepy painting.
“I know,” she mumbled. “It’s weird.”
He huffed.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you,” he says, and Marinette understands.
She knows he isn’t apologizing as Damian. He’s apologizing as Robin. She can remember doing this when she had friends who got hurt. ‘I’m sorry, I should have been there.’ She knows what the meaning is beyond the words he actually says.
She knows he’s apologizing to a monster.
“You didn’t have to be,” she says, speaking to Damian. “I would have been too worried about you to… to…”
The words die in her throat but she knew what they were. To hurt the Joker. To damage him beyond repair.
“I was still,” he seemed to fight with his words too, “worried.” He spits it like a curse, like he hates saying it. Like he hates her.
Marinette could understand that. She hated having to be worried about Lila last night.
She ignored the hurt.
“You don’t have to be,” she mumbles, going over to the desk so she can sit.
“Are you fully packed?” he changed the subject.
“Yeah,” she sat at her desk. Her sketchbook, missing a few pages, was on it. Her phone was in her pocket. The rest of her suitcase and backpack were gathered by the foot of her bed.
The clock on the bedside table had a bright red glow. It was one of those electric ones.
She had forty-five minutes left.
The conversation lulled.
“I’m a bad friend.”
She ignored the pain.
“What?” Damian jerked. “What makes you say that? Why would you say that? There’s no reason for you to think that, Ange- Marinette.”
She tried not to flinch.
“There is,” she said slowly. “I don’t deserve you. You shouldn’t have to suffer a friendship with me.”
“What? Angel-”
“I’m a horrible person, and you shouldn’t have to deal with me.”
“What are you saying?” His eyes were wide, almost frantic. “You’re not making any sense.”
“I’m not supposed to,” she could feel a tear slide down her cheek. “You… you’ll understand soon.”
Damian looked lost. “Angel-”
“I’m not an angel,” she got up, heading to the closet. “I don’t deserve that name.”
“Please, you’re not making any sense,” she paused outside of the closet. Why did he sound so hurt? He had to hate her.
She was a monster, and monsters deserved to be hated.
“I’m an awful person, a horrible friend,” she whispered. “I’m protecting you from me.”
“I don’t need prote-”
In one quick move she grabbed a shoddy sketchbook paper-wrapped rectangle and threw it at the bed next to him.
“That’s yours,” her voice was wobbling. Tears were falling off her face and onto her shirt. “Open it when I leave, then you’ll understand why I can’t be your friend anymore.”
This was the most expressive she’s ever seen Damian. His face seemed to fall, and he picked it up carefully.
“You don’t want to… to be my friend?” he whispered. His eyes were shiny, and he sounded like he was about to cry. It was probably from relief.
She was a monster, and monsters didn’t deserve happiness.
“I don’t deserve to,” Marinette corrected.
She betrayed his trust. She went behind his back and discovered something about him that she wouldn’t ever be able to forget – not in this universe.
He didn’t deserve someone like that. He wasn’t a monster like she was, and deserved someone better to be his friend and to comfort him and-
“I need to call my parents,” she lied again. She loathed liars and now she was one. But that was okay.
She was a monster, and monsters deserved to be loathed.
If anything, Damian looked even more hurt. He didn’t say anything though, simply taking the package and walking out the door.
He didn’t slam it. He closed it with a soft click.
“Marinette,” Tikki sounded horrified. “What did you do?”
“He-he deserved better,” Marinette sobbed. “He doesn’t-doesn’t deserve… He doesn’t deserve…”
She broke down into sobs then. Ugly, horrible sobs that her hotel room pillow didn’t fully muffle.
“You can still fix this!” Tikki cried. “You can call him, you have his number, or-”
Marinette shook her head. She couldn’t.
She was a monster, and monsters didn’t deserve to love.
Oh.
Oh no.
She loved him.
She…
She was in love with Damian.
Marinette’s tears started fresh. She was in love with Damian. She couldn’t pinpoint a when, but she was…
It felt soothing, for a moment. It was not as obsessive as her crush on Adrien was, but something calmer. It flowed like a stream, natural.
But now, the stream was boiling. It hurt to breathe, to move, to think, because she loved Damian.
And she didn’t deserve him.
She now felt all of the hurt, the pain, everything she had been ignoring, full force.
It was mint it was chains it was tight throats and burning lungs and sobs.
It was painful.
oooOOOooo
Five minutes until they leave the hotel for the airport. Marinette had her backpack on her back, her suitcase in hand, and her sketchbook under her arm. Her phone was in her pocket and Tikki was in her backpack.
When she arrived at the lobby, everyone was waiting in groups. She saw several red and puffy eyes, none as worse as Lila Rossi.
Oddly enough, she sat alone.
Kim was the first to see her. He was pacing and looked up when he heard her quiet footsteps. “Mari,” he breathed. “I’m so sorry.”
What?
“What?” she asked. Her voice wasn’t wobbly, but it cracked.
“I’m sorry too,” Alix piped up. “We may have gotten suspicious toward the end, but we still believed Lila for years. I’m sorry.”
What?
They… didn’t believe Lila?
Other classmates began to step forward, shame-faced. Rose was still crying. Juleka’s hair hid one eye, but the other was still shining as well.
“Marinette, I’m so sorry,” the small blonde cried. “Lila, she did that, and-and you’re you and you don’t deserve it and-”
“What?” she was still confused. What… what happened? Why were they…
“Damian Wayne was here earlier,” Alix stepped in. “He called Lila out on her bullsh-”
“Alix!” Ms. Buistier cried.
“He called you out too, you know,” Alix snapped back immediately. “And don’t think I’m not going to bring up all the points he argued about you to the school board.”
Ms. Bustier paled considerably. Marinette was worried she’d faint.
“The point is, he called Lila out for all the lies she told,” Kim frowned. “Well, the ones he knew of. The rest of us filled in the blanks for him.”
“It helped when the police showed us the security footage of last night,” Juleka mumbled. “Alya couldn’t argue with facts.”
Alya, also sitting alone, flinched.
“You don’t have to forgive any of us,” Rose was still crying. “We don’t deserve it. But I- I still wanted to apologize.”
“Same,” Alix grumbled. Kim nodded.
Marinette was still confused.
She was a monster, and monsters deserved to be detested.
But they didn’t detest her.
At least, not anymore.
Professor Mendeleiev clapped her hands to get the class’ attention. Everyone began to file into the bus to go to the airport.
The security officer policeman nodded to her on her way out. Marinette wished they hadn’t seen her.
On the bus, she still sat alone. She knew they wanted to give her space, but Marinette didn’t care.
Her phone was in her hand. She opened up her and Damian’s text chat. She was going to delete all the messages. She had to delete them. She had to…
She didn’t want to. These were the only proof she had that their friendship existed.
She found herself rereading messages on the way to the airport. She’d never find a nickname for him in the chat, she realized. Her endeavor failed.
But Marinette already felt terrible, so what was a little more scorn? After all, she betrayed her best and only friend. She betrayed him. She ended their friendship because he deserved better. She made sure he hated her. And she couldn’t even delete her only reminder of the whole thing. She was pathetic.
She didn’t break.
She wished she did.
