For Lord Hater and Commander Peepers :

Lord Hater is the self-proclaimed "universe's awesomest evil-doer", an immature, attention-seeking manchild with electric powers and a short temper. He rules the Hater Empire with Commander Peepers as his second-in-command (technically third, after his beloved pet spider-xenomorph, but who's counting), however it soon becomes *very* clear that the cunning, remorseless, hardworking Peepers is the *real* brains behind the empire. Peepers might be frustrated at Hater's incompetence at times and isn't above manipulating him to reach an end goal, but he'd never dream of usurping him because, well, he's really gay and in love with him (as much as he can be in an early-10s Disney cartoon, anyways). Hater might take Peepers for granted a lot of times, but as his oldest friend and closest confidante he's the one who Hater is closest to. Whether it's invading other planets or kicking puppies for fun, these two are *delightfully* terrible jerks and the epitome of gay wrongs. 

Commander Peepers is both Lord Hater's right hand man in villainy AND his jilted stay-at-home-wife-guy (Also in villainy. Hater is really good at getting distracted from productive and efficient villaining.) Lord Hater was the greatest villain in the galaxy thanks to how well he and Commander Peepers worked as an evil team to run the Hater Empire!

Lord Hater conquers planets and is such an edgy bastard. Peepers is the actual brains behind the operation. Peepers is often pushed aside by Hater, they are besties and yet Peepers is always pining for this guy who will never notice. Peepers is so horribly gay for him if you watch the show he wants his stupid boss so bad. Peepers is so scared of him season 1 but then starts yelling BACK in season 2 and has to deal with him like a babysitter or something and yet STILL idolizes him and that’s just such a fun dynamic. His password is H8RNP33PRS43VR (Hater and Peepers forever). They are so evil and everyone fears them and they are villains and they are gay and the side of the fandom that draws them as a married couple that needs counseling is absolutely correct. The fanart of Hater openly liking him back is wonderful but I swear you don’t even need that. They are so gay and villain you have to love them they are

For Basil and Sunny :

OK SO. I want to share this because Sunny and Basil are the literal definition of "be gay do crimes but taken a bit extreme" but in order to do so I would have to share explicit material. So. WARNING(s): HUGEEE spoilers for the game OMORI,  mentions of manslaughter, staged s//cide, and PTSD. Sunny and Basil were friends, best friends in fact. While they were not canonically a couple nor did they have CANON feelings for each other it is very much homoerotic (LOTS of handholding, the creator also made a tweet that just said "omg basil x sunny already", etc.). But one day Sunny got into a huge fight with his older sister Mari and then accidentally pushed her down the stairs, accidentally killing her. He did not know what to do. He just killed his sister whom he loved very much and he doesn't know what to do. Then Basil somehow comes into the picture, and helps him cover the manslaughter by staging Mari's death as s//cide (they hanged her body with a skipping rope on a tree in Sunny's backyard). By the way I forgot to mention both of them were literally twelve years old at the time. I don't know WHY Basil decided to help him stage the murder like THAT but ok?? Anyway.. Basil tried comforting him, telling him "Everything is going to be okay...", and Basil just wanted to stay with Sunny, to go through all the trauma together, to push through. Both of them felt extreme guilt and stuff. But then, Sunny, instead of going through the trauma became a hikikomori (a person who's severely socially withdrawn) and decided to isolate himself for four years and create a fake dream world where everything is fine, Mari is alive and no one can die. This made Basil extremely traumatized even further because not only did he just commit a huge crime but also his best friend and probable crush just abandoned him and everyone else during these hard times. By the way I forgot to mention Basil has abandonment issues caused by his parents that are never there for him. Ok I definitely went off topic.... Uh basically to summarize: Mari's sister died, Basil and sunny covered the murder (together!!), And then sunny left basil. Definition of be gay do crimes. But they were twelve and traumatized :( (and kinda gay tbh)

Case files 06.01

We've got a new monster! I repeat, we've got a new monster! Also this call was made just 3 days before Sam heard it! The monster is roaming the streets as we speak!

Ahem. Let us begin.

What I think happened in:

Case 06.01, the case of "Prickly Hugger – a cautionary tale for muggers" or

"I'm scary and pointy!"

We've gathered here today to talk about Mr. Needles.

Who is Mr. Needles? Mr. Needles is a local. He grew up here (somewhere in London), and he'd seen the neighbourhood go from 'nice' to 'dreadful' over the years. (He had a hand in that, though he won't say how). He used to feel lonely and hollow, but has found something to remedy that. Some kind of mark. Don't worry about it.

Mr. Needles does not look dangerous. On the contrary, he seems like an easy mark, a perfect victim (a perfect lure). This particular night, some knife-wielding ruffian fell for it and tried to mug him. Mr. Needles let the mugger get very close, before deploying needles (they come out from under his skin from thousands of tiny holes). (…does it hurt? Every time. Mr. Needles doesn't mind. He's experimented with BDSM before).

He happily glomped the mugger and made sure to position himself over muggers face (and his eyes). The needles broke off after digging into the mugger's flesh. (It's OK. They grow back).

When the mugger was already on the ground, moaning and bleeding, Mr. Needles decided to call emergency service. This was not his first hmugger, but his first emergency call - he's not very clear on how exactly they work, but he does know where the local contact centres are located.

After a little bit of back-and-forth with the dying mugger and the various operators, Mr. Needles ended the call without actually stating their location, so it will probably be some time before somebody stumbles upon a body full of needles, lying in a pool of blood.

Somewhere in Lambeth, a police operator is feeling rather unsettled and will be looking over his shoulder on his way home for at least few days. (And maybe he'll meet an unassuming little man fond of hugging).

Other important things to know about Mr. Needles: Mr. Needles is a very scary monster.

He can smell fear. He can smell fear even over the phone (which probably means it's not actually scent he's perceiving, but that's just a technical detail).

If his scare-factor is challenged, Mr. Needles becomes agitated and rattles his needles like an angry metal rattlesnake. It is not advisable to question his scariness. He WILL take offence and threaten to stalk you.

What we don't know about Mr. Needles:

Sewing needles or syringe needles? I've seen fanart depicting classic hand-sewing needles, but I don't think that works for the simple reason that the mugger is said to be bleeding to death rather quickly, while the needles are still in him. Every stab-wound PSA reminds us to leave the 'weapon' in, because it slows the bleeding. So I posit that Needle's needles are hollow, promoting fast blood-loss. He even says "This isn’t some poxy blood test," when arguing his scariness, which I think supports this.

What is Mr. Needles? A monster-ified human, or a human-shaped monster? He says he grew up here – does it mean: - he was just regular boring human before he grew prickly (how did it happen?), - or was he once just a tiny itty bitty prickle of unease in the back of somebody's brain, before feeding on collective fear of the locals, and growing big and fearsome, until he could manifest as a fully fledged, physical monster (what prompted it?). - Or was he once a tiny baby monster, toddling underfoot and biting ankles? (kidding ;) Smart money is on the first option, but I rather like the idea of the second. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

How old is he? He seems to be rather new to the whole 'being a monster' thing, so whatever he was in his youth, I think he became Mr. Needles fairly recently. Like maybe...hm, about a year ago? When some other things started happening for no apparent reason?

Are muggers his usual prey? I doubt it. The line "once they realize their mistake" could mean "they thought I'd be easy mark – oops, surprise!", but it could just as easily apply to "this good Samaritan though I needed help," or "this random passer-by thought I was harmless and not danger to them". He also says he's proud of making the streets unsafe at night, so I think he is a predator that just also happens to eat other predators. Top of the foodchain kind of deal (or at least he likes to think of himself as such).

What is his name? The transcript says 'Needles' and I'm calling him this for now, but I don't believe it's what he calls himself. I bet when we meet him and he introduces himself, it will be with an overly long, pretentious edgy name, sth like Dr. Sharp, the Terror that Stabs in the Night, or similar.

What does he mean by "the land is marked now, same as me"? What happened to the land? Too much man-made destruction (physical mark)? Too many man-made tragedies (metaphysical mark)? An apocalypse seeping in from a nearby universe (eldrich mark)? Something else? All of them at once? What? *gnawing at my keyboard over a tiny inconspicuous remark*

So, I went looking up the translation of AFC Richmond motto, Gradarius Firmus Victoria, because I was thinking of using it in some future fanart. (And also because I’m a Latin Motto Enjoyer™️) Queue me stumbling upon maybe the funniest and most targeted Ted Lasso article I’ve ever seen, detailing the motto's janky latin. Which was then followed up with a second article after the official Ted Lasso Twitter account gave It’s in-universe translation of the motto/ reasoning for the butchered Latin. This is exactly the kind of indulgent nonsense I’m in love with.

Before I get into it, I absolutely recommend you go read the article! It made me laugh, gets delightfully technical about Latin translation and goes into a lot of depth about why the motto just does not work grammatically. but even outside of that it touches on other points such as the classism inherent in sports, latin, and linguistics, albeit briefly. Look, it's a 7 min read and a joy at that, it’s worth the time!

TL;DR: Dear lord, the mottos Latin is so janky. not only are the grammatical cases just strange, but it uses a mix of both masculine and feminine endings (which I admit, I’m embarrassed I didn’t notice till now.) to quote Ed DeHoratius:

“The Latin motto in the end is at best ambiguous and at worst as fictional as the show itself. Gradarius Firmus Victoria is, if correct grammatically, awkward Latin”

The article goes on to give a few possible translations, though they all require editing the original phrase to actually make it work, but ultimately the conclusion DeHoratius comes to is this:

“The strongest meaning is ‘A strong hand / coach guides us to victory’; that has the strength of other Latin mottos that I assume the show is trying to invoke. But that’s not what the Latin says.”

(Ok but side note: the bit that got me was that to modern knowledge, ‘gradarius’ has only ever been used ONCE in classical Latin. Which is just, so funny. Honey… how did you get into this motto??)

However, After this article was written the official Twitter account stated that in 1899, the AFC Richmond owner wanted the club to have a motto and that is should be “slow and steady wins the race.” But After local latin scholars refused to translate the phrase because they thought it was inappropriate for a team called “the greyhounds” he asked his 6 year old daughter to help with the translation.

Which, as an in universe thing? Kinda a funny detail! Seems like something a rich Victorian white guy would do! But that’s not *really* how the actual Latin came about now was it? DeHoratius himself in his article says he’s not sure if the bad translation job or an intentional joke. Which, yeah! Hard to tell! Though to me it does feel like it was an unintentional mistake that was pointed out. Take this all as your reminder to talk to your local linguists and classicists if you want something properly translated into Latin as a dictionary is only gonna get you so far. Frankly, it’s a good idea to get any translation to or from a language you arnt familiar with double checked.

Anyways what meaning will I go with? Personally I’m inclined to go with Ed DeHoratius’s translation, as I feel it more fitting for the shows Themes and Motifs™️

Ok, I'm just gonna give a little rant: I hate how polarizing it is to have a non-socially attractive nose is. I have a bigger nose, esp for my ethnicity, you know how much shit I get for that? Anytime I draw a bigger nose? "Are you sure you don't wanna make it smaller?" Anytime I draw a convex nosebridge? "Are you sure..." You basically aren't allowed to have a fucking nose, nor any nose diversity, without people throwing a massive shitstorm, and shaming you for have a BODY PART.

We need to encourage creatives to make different noses for their characters by insisting that every time someone uses a nose that's conventionally "unattractive," it means they hate Jewish people!

To veer back into seriousness, though, there's a reason why I've been using the phrase 'conventionally "unattractive"'. Because for all these people trying to turn Mimzy's nose into The Second Coming of the Third Reich -- which would technically be The First Coming of the Fourth Reich, but let's not be pedantic -- it's not even unattractive?!

Gyro’s eyes are huge, opened too wide. He’d paused in the middle of cleaning his fingers, the smallest one still glistening with spit. His lipstick’s almost entirely gone, only a faint smudge of hideous green at the corners of his mouth. This close, Diego can see the hairs he’d missed shaving, the shadow of a mustache growing after a day without a razor. Traces of slickness still cling to his chin, his cheeks.

i really enjoyed writing it and i still think the d-rogier situation is SO entertaining. i really like the vibe that i managed to capture with this one and feel like it’s tonally consistent and fitting with the style of the setting, it maintains that fun fromsoft ambiguity and i just am really happy with it! yeah!

💡How many WIPs do you currently have?

uhhh. i’ve got…3 diegyro oneshots at various stages of progress, a separate document full of potential diegyro oneshot wip ideas, then i’ve got the two…three. three longfics (technically collaborations with per!) that are extensively bulletpointed and i think about them often but are likely to never be finished. one day maybe…i would love to bring at least 2 of them into reality. one is just kind of a steel ball run retelling/au situation that doesn’t have much to do with shipping, the second is a plot-heavy sequel to that retelling and it’s kind of a diegyro manifesto in a way. and the third is a diegyro “bad end” au that turns out…not so bad? it just takes years to get to that point.

i also keep thinking about writing a bloodborne au but that’s in the oneshots folder. i just started a bodyswap fic…sigh.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

oh jeez. i think rogier taking off the gloves or d trying to cover the armor’s eyes from the elden ring one would be fun. there’s some bits from some of my diegyro wips that i would loveeeee to see fanart of but they’d have to be finished in order for that to happen…anything to do with the corpse eyes and the doubling is always awesome though i get so excited. ugh or the diegyro nasty woundcare situation i’ve got cooking in a wip…or ok this isn’t my fic it’s one of per’s but the scene with dream gyro kneeling down to kiss diego and also take his head is one i’ve wanted to draw for YEARSSSSS but haven’t managed to yet.

Sketch dump.

First drawing is technically a design for a utau I made with a help of a friend, second character is another dumbass self insert, also one thing to note is that I’m falling back into drawing a bit of an ‘anime’ style. I do this mainly because it’s fun and also I just have the habit of copying styles whenever making fanart of media I like.

So for example, making fanart for an anime? Well damn I now have to draw in an anime style in order to draw the characters right. This in turn actually works in my favor because I end up learning new techniques from said styles.

Though eventually I just return to my own style, now with new quirks and slight differences.

Anyways, back to describing what’s above:

The next few drawings are all my persona/me, with the exception of 2P Alek (the one with a grumpy face) and 3P Alek (the one with a square eyepatch) being included. I love making AUs a lot so I even made some for my own persona.

Headcanon on how some nations came to be

You know how it’s with me, aka the usual:

-Russia (along with Ukraine and Belarus) were born from mommy Rus’ limbs as she started to split apart. In many ways like Athena born from Zeus I guess. Also I say mommy Rus but I have in mind an androgynous large muscular 230 cm warrior dude.

-Mongolia was once a wolf. I love animal origins yes. He was reborn so many times as other wolves and dogs and gradually became closer and closer to humans aka getting domesticated. Right before he became a nation he was a guardian dog of a proto-Mongol family, and upon his death his human owner wished for him to be reborn as human. Except he actually became an immortal nation and from then on he stayed with the Borjigins or Borjigid ancestors as a warrior.

-Kazakhstan was found in a Golden Eagle’s nest by Janibek and Kerey aka the founders of Kazakh Khanate. There was a bit of drama there as the two brothers (or cousins) wanted to kidnap a female chick to raise as a hunting bird (it has to be female because she is larger and stronger than male birds. Upon adulthood, she will be released back into the wild) but found a male baby instead, and at first they thought of him as bird food. They quickly realized that baby Kaz was in fact the eagle’s offspring, and that them finding him was a sign of something big to come. During this time, Janibek and Kerey were still part of Uzbeks but had started to oppose their Uzbek overlords.

Ancestry wise tho, Kazakhstan is pure Golden Horde. Part of his country especially in the southern part was Chagatai Khanate, but his Khans traced their lineage to Jochid Khans only (precisely Ordaid Khans). In my OC lore I divide Golden Horde into two aka Batu’s Ulus (White Horde) and Orda’s Ulus (Blue Horde), both represented by different guys, but it’s White Horde who’s generally regarded as the whole Golden Horde. This has historical bearings because the Khan of White Horde was also the Khan of the whole Golden Horde. But of course, when you see Blue Horde around he is technically Golden Horde too sorry if it’s complicated lmao.

Anyway Kazakhstan is like a child between White and Blue Horde, born from their ashes and bones.

-Uzbekistan is an mpreg child of Golden Horde and Timurid Empire LOL but basically he is a mix of them ok. His lands he got from Timurid but his Khans from Golden Horde… you get the idea. Timurid doted on him so much and was secretly proud that he beat him (who was already weakened anyway). These days Uzbekistan usually says he only has one dad aka Timurid Empire, and he reveres Tamerlane so much.

-Turkey is one of the many children of Göktürk, aka the ultimate daddy of Inner Asia yes. He never really saw him irl tho because his people, the Oghuz Turks, took him (and some siblings) away to Central Asia where he became an Oghuz state and ultimately Seljuk Empire. Age wise maybe a bit younger than Mongolia idk, I personally don’t get how in some fanarts kid Mongolia and Turkey met because afaik they didn’t actually meet until adulthood, but yeah.

Anyway, I haven’t really settled on Mongolia’s age myself, but I think at some point he saw Göktürk around. Basically the second Turkic Khaganate was also founded by Ashina clan so it might be Göktürk reborn and not exactly a different person, so…

What’s DSAF? I’ve been seeing fanarts about it. I thought it was like FNAF but apparently is not?

Hey anon! So, DSAF is short for Dayshift at Freddy's! It is technically rooted in FNAF, and there is some stuff referenced from it, but it has its own lore! I'm not giving any heavy spoilers since it's best 2 experience it urself, but basically the whole jist, at least for the first game, is that you're some orange guy (nicknamed as "Old Sport" by your very nice and bff forever Dave) who works at Freddy's and you have a choice to either 1.) Save the kids, 2.) Fuck around with your eggplant bestie 3.) Other things!

DSAF is a trilogy, and the games themselves are free on gamejolt if you so wish to play them yourself, since I believe it's better if ya do. While you're on there also check out dialtown, since the same guy who made dsaf ALSO made it and that game is worth every penny ok?

DSAF's more of a visual novel of sorts than base fnaf but there are some non-vn parts too. Primarily it's one tho.

following on from @withercrown and @snarwor 's conversation about what's wrong in dinluke and din xreader fandom and i gotta say: god i love being the second-smartest one in the relationship

witty used the phrase "early fandom consumers and late fandom creators" and this REALLY stuck out to me. i'm so much more interested in the creation side of fandom than the consumption side. imo fandom is at its zenith when:

there are creators who all separately love the source material

because they love it, they all have something to say about it

because they are all different people, what they have to say is different too

they come together to share their love for the source material AND to show off and share their ideas with each other

this constitutes 'fandom'

when i was on the old dinluke server, a large number of fans AND a large number of PEOPLE ACTUALLY WRITING FIC had never seen the original trilogy. they had only read fic. they weren't writing luke because they had no idea who luke was or what his story was about. they were writing an OC.

there's plenty of mainstream - straight, normative - fandom for star wars. these are fans who share a love for the source material AND are satisfied with the romance already served up in commercial media. lgbt fans, who want a love story they can relate to, typically do not fit in very well with this part of fandom.

it is not ok to have to choose between mainstream straight fandom and a fandom inundated by people with only a light-touch interest in the thing they're purportedly a fan of, in favor of recycling yet more het romance tropes forever. fandom is at its nadir when spaces that should be for fans who were inspired by the same book/movie/whatever and want to create something out of it for themselves, instead become oversaturated by orbiters, bullies, and clout-chasers.

i think statistics like hits, likes, and kudos have seriously spoiled the atmosphere of fandom. they encourage people to be seen by mimicking whatever currently has the largest number of clickable heart jpegs attached to it, rather than by creating something fresh or unique. they facilitate cults of celebrity that are cringingly inappropriate in fandom. and they incentivize and reward authors who write for the lowest common denominator - the largest spread of appeal across the board.

snarwor is right to say that luck is a significant proportion of what causes a fic to gain a high popularity metric, but it's not the whole story. not all ships even have 'top-rated' fics! as in, there might be a fic that is technically top rated but it doesn't have that many kudos and the spread is more even across fics for that ship as a whole. banality and het-compatible tropes make a fic far more digestible to a large number of people, and that's a feature that is frequently essential for something to gain a high number of likes/kudos.

especially as fandom becomes more mainstream and increasingly less marginalized people take an interest in fanfiction and fanart (which was NOT the case 20 or even 10 years ago), it's pointless trying to pretend that the endless, exhaustingly bland heteronormativity pervading the most popular works in these fandoms doesn't precisely echo the endless, exhaustingly bland heteronormativity in mainstream commercial media, which imo is because it's exactly the same.

the focus on statistics and kudos rewards work that falls just the right side of inoffensive across the greatest spread of people, which is pretty much the exact opposite of 'work that has something to say'. and exactly like in commercial media, this occurs completely at the expense of marginalized creators, whose takes and experiences are generally less easily digestible and therefore all the more important to be heard by people who otherwise would not encounter them. the place for marginalized creators to be seen and heard is supposed to be fandom communities, which imo have been essentially gentrified into sort-by-statistics ranking boards - and this can't coexist with the concept of a community of creative equals.

the extent to which a fandom is a community vs the extent to which it is a league table varies, and many fandoms are still more community than not. i'll still be creating for those fandoms. if you're the least bit concerned about fandom becoming an atmosphere best suited to mainstream heterosexist romance, misogyny-lite tropes, bullies, and commercialized clout-farmers, i think it's worth considering how the statistics mechanism - if you will - un-queers the pitch for everyone involved.

When did you start making music and art? And do you have any tips for making music and art? I'd love to see what you do, I love getting art from others it makes me really happy 💜

Ok so uhhh ART. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember (yes, cliché). I think I started taking it more seriously when I got a drawing tablet, so 2013 or 2014? I can't remember. Some advice I can give is not to focus on every single pixel, unless you're doing pixel art. I made that mistake when I was younger; nobody is going to see 1 pixel not filled in on a 3000px canvas, it's a waste of time to bother. Focus on simple shapes first then the complex shapes when sketching and try not to do chicken-scratches, try to make continuous lines as much as possible. Here's sketches from 2016 (first) and a sketch from 2022 (second). Just looks cleaner, more dynamic and less clunky. Try practicing that when sketching, it's helped me.

Experiment a lot, don't focus on one thing over and over to avoid sameness across drawings, like the same pose or faces. Like I said in a previous ask, study everything around you and the art you see, even when not actively drawing. I have so many references downloaded and things that are aesthetically pleasing or art that I really like. That helps too with inspiration and learning how to do stuff. Another thing that's helped me a lot is doing foreshortening like this, it's a simple technique and I do it a lot. And then all the things you've probably heard 1000 times, study anatomy and color theory and all that boring CRAP. Ok now the MUSIC. I started making music in 2015 (maybe before that if you count Mario Paint Composer lololol). Study MIXING and MASTERING as soon as possible. I never really did that until recently and I get mad at myself that I still can't do it well and think I'm an idiot. I can compose ok, my sound design is sexy, but my mastering is actual dogshit because I didn't learn it early and I've been struggling with it. The technical aspects of music making trip me up so much and I thought it would be okay to not bother looking into it. Learn dat shitttt cuz I didn't and I'm paying for it. It's not all about the composing. I also listen to all kinds of music all day and I try to study everything within the music, like all the instruments and sounds and how they're placed together. Even music I know I don't really like, I can listen to it and appreciate it in another way. Uhh put a limiter on your master track, especially when experimenting with shit. Be mindful of your volume, don't blow ya fucken ears out, take care of your hearing. Experiment with stuff a lot, don't be afraid to learn how to use new things and play around with them. I don't have a lot of tips when it comes to making music lol.

I hope these help somewhat, even if sorta generic. I'm not good at advice and these are just things that have helped me or I wish I knew earlier.

At a first glance, Cassunzel and Reylo would seem to have nothing in common. One is gay, non-canon, and from a spin-off of a movie made for little girls, while the other is from a movie series whose former primary audience was men and little boys. Former bcs the sequel trilogy is for the girls and the gays I am claiming it

At a SECOND glance, you would see there are actually some similarities. I don't even know where to start bruh.

Source material: Rapunzel is based on a fairytale. I'm pretty sure George Lucas once described Star Wars as a fairytale too (google says yes). What a co-winky-dink?!?!?

The characters:

Guess who! A person who was isolated since childhood not by their own or their parents own choices but because of powers that they were born with due to super old stuff like powers or magical whatever. Their caretaker did not really care about them. They became friends with a little cute thing that doesn't speak english. They have freckles. They're the happier character while also being deeply traumatized. They were brought away from their situation by a dude who was running away from something.

Guess who! A dark-haired angsty type with an evil figure in their lineage. They were affected very badly by the abandonment from their same gender parent. They were taught to be a fighter for protection of people. They are manipulated by a really old evil person who disguises themself. They fight with a sword.

”Okay, plenty of characters are similar. Can you talk in specifics? Plus, what about the character dynamics?"

OK YES BUT FIRST AESTHETICS WHICH IS SHORT BCS ADMITTEDLY THEY AREN'T THAAAT SIMILAR IN THAT WAY

So Kylo in the beginning of the story is red and black as his main colors but he is evil in the beginning. Then, for his very short time being not a baddie, his color is blue!!!

This is literally the exact same and opposite of Cassandra at the same time. Cassandra starts red (ok she wears blue first but that's not rlly her main outfit ) when she is not evil and then becomes blue when she's evil.

"Um, what about when she's green?"

Well you can say that Ben was green when he was being taught by Luke he was in green light that time 💀 so there, exact opposite!

For Rapunzel and Rey, technically they both have brown hair and Rey's lightsaber is yellow. Rey wears beige and blue-ish grey. Blue is basically purple. Also, her outfit has long strips of fabric which you may be able to compare to long hair.

Now, to the promised, Character Dynamics and suspicious similarities, but stay tuned after this for one last secret category of comparisons.

So obviously both of their ships fit into 'Grumpy x Sunshine' and also ngl they're both a little toxic but in different ways. Both pairs physically fight each other.

Kylo gets his face sliced by Rey and has that for a while until she heals it near the end while making him not DIE. Cassandra gets her hand withered and it is not confirmed if it was healed or not but probably it was when Rapunzel was also making her not DIE.

Both of the ships talk as kind of friends at a time while the bad side is still being bad.

THEY BOTH SEE EACH OTHER MAGICALLY WHEN THEY ARE IN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLACES AND NO ONE ELSE CAN SEE/HEAR THEM only happens once for cassunzel but STILL!!

Then, they stop acting as friends at all for bit when one closes a door on the other in some way. The difference here is that Rey just closed a door on a force bond while Cassandra actually left Rapunzel to die...

One of them dies and the other holds them while on the floor and brings them back to life using that super old power. The difference is that Ben saves Rey while Rapunzel saves Cassandra and they are the opposite characters in the situation. But, at least at some point it was the angsty ones being dead.

Also, despite their endings being different, each 'grumpy' does basically sacrifice themself for their sunshine partially to make up for their past mistakes/evil-doing and partially bcs THEY LOVE THEMMMM.

Then, the angsty one leaves. The difference is Benny boo fucking dies and Cassandra just goes to find her 'destiny' whatever that means. Though, both of the things have themes of 'destiny' in them, so...

there's totally more similarities so tell me any you think of.

Now to the secret category: Fandom Perception

There was a fandom for both of them early on and they were both easily shippable with scenes that can be seen as having tension or just somehow shippy . Reylo mostly the former and Cassunzel mostly the latter. my fave is "what you do when no one's looking is your business" They also both have some frequently quoted/well-liked shippy moments in their books.

They both have some people in the fandom who dislike or even hate them because there's another ship with a nicer dude that the sunshine character can be with which is deemed healthier.

Both are sometimes claimed to be siblings.

This is so specific. What the fuck.

Oh, there are haters on the villain character who say they are a bad villain and are worse than another villain and then just make fun of them for no reason. The difference is with Cassandra they are just slightly correct while with Kylo they are not really at all because that's just his character and the haters are dudes who love senseless violence... btw both of these characters are my children so I do not condone hating on either of them.

I've never seen people call Rapunzel a Mary Sue BUT I have heard of people who blame Rapunzel for every bad thing which I guess you could say that's slightly similar if you really wanted to idk.

You know, as a shipper, there is something deeply frustrating about playing RPG’s with Build-Your-Own-Avatar style protagonists. Like, the game is designed in a way that makes sure you feel like your character is invested in the world and the supporting cast, sometimes with blatant romance with your character in the game. And because they only ever give you 2-4 dialogue options, it feels like the game has written this character for you and your just discovering them. And when I can’t sleep ‘cause of whatever, there is zero cute fanart to look at and fanfics feel like an old timey prospector trying convince themselves the fool’s gold is worth something.

Like, let’s say I’m in the mood for a Dragonborn x Skyrim npc. I got to go be all like:

Male or female?

Argonian, Nord, Kajit, or Breton?

Actually, there’s no nords. Is imperial ok? Fine, close enough.

Let’s see. There’s only three. One has a murder hobo weenie who hates magic. That’s not the options I picked. The second is an isekai where the Dragonborn is some guy from Wisconsin named Kyle. And the last one is a rewrite of the murderhobo story… fine, let’s just what Bretons have.

No shade to kyle or the murderhobo, but as a non creative person, it’s sad knowing that you accidentally found an otp for a character that is technically in the game, but will only ever exist in your own head….

i know i said this is a blog just for my oc art but hhh. it's tempting to break this rule. yesterday i sure did some neato art. two of them is technically bkdk/bkdk-related.

but noooo i need this to be a sacred space for my babies. (the utena meme was an exception.) fanart can occupy my twitter/instagram!!!

anyway! about this piece! just for the hell of it (ok it's because i messed up inking a kacchan and wanted to hide the mistakes), i threw acrylic paint on the paper. to my surprise, it actually took the paint. so did it again and that's why we have this piece. i didn't want to waste the paint that i had taken out.

i think a lot of the things that i've been feeling but was too much of a hassle to write down came out in this piece. i really was feeling like yatora (from blue period--one of my favorite manga!!)

if i was an outsider looking at this picture, my interpretation is that the blue is my constant depression, but it's still colorful because i do, admittedly, funnel it into art as fuel. all the dark gray is the nihilism of the world. and the character is red because they feel angry and passion about everything but... well. how does it come out? when it touches the blue, it doesn't stay red. it gets tainted, becomes purple... as for the red at the edges? "the world is on fire." lol. and the speckles of orange, i was thinking of them as inspiration points (in the sense that they would be things that inspire someone to act.)

also. yes. the title is from DICTATOR by REI AMI. that song alone inspired 3 pieces i drew last night. i uploaded a speedpaint of the first piece (it's BKDK) on my youtube channel here. i'll upload the second piece later (referenced earlier.) this piece was the last one for the night.
