Permaculture instructor Andrew Millison journeys to India to film the epic work of the Paani Foundation’s Water Cup Competition and Farmer's Cup Competition. We tour the village of Pemgiri, in Maharashtra, who competed in the 2019 competition to install the most amount of water harvesting structures in a 45 day period, and competed had farmer's groups compete in the Farmers Cup Competition in 2023. Guided by Paani Foundation’s chief advisor, Dr. Avinash Pol, we visit the work and see the effects of a watershed-scale groundwater restoration project that has dramatically improved the lives, economy, ecology and stability of this village, and experience the feeling of deep stability that comes with a healthy and abundant landscape.

Farmers could continue to produce high crop yields with far less use of artificial fertilisers if they adopted environmentally sustainable practices, an academic study has shown for the first time.
Techniques such as adding manure and compost to soils, growing nitrogen-fixing plants between crops, and cultivating a wide range of produce instead of sticking to the same crops, can all increase yields while protecting and improving the natural ecosystems of farms.
Chloe MacLaren, a plant ecologist at Rothamsted Research in the UK who is the lead author of the paper published on Monday in the peer review journal Nature Sustainability, said: “Reducing reliance on chemical fertilisers would help to buffer farmers and consumers against economic shocks, such as the current spike in fertiliser costs and consequent increase in food prices. Widespread uptake of these practices could also contribute to a more equitable global distribution of fertiliser.”

Nido di Seta, an agricultural cooperative that was founded by three young friends in the Calabria region of southern Italy, is working to restore silk farming and traditions that once flourished in the area, but that had been lost in recent times. Regenerative agriculture, a pillar of Gucci's nature-positive approach, rebuilds and strengthens nature rather than depleting it, helping to protect and restore the biodiversity of plants and wildlife while also bringing diverse environmental and social advantages.

As part of this approach, the House is supporting a pilot project with Nido di Seta, working towards the creation of a new silk supply chain in Italy and the production of Gucci's first scarves made with silk thread that comes from local organic farming practices over the next years.
