Your choice
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.
He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
That’s how today’s Gospel starts. Some see them as successful entrepreneurs leaving a thriving business. Others see them as poor fishermen who were barely getting by.
But, as Gregory the Great tells us, that’s not what Jesus is calling them away from.
“Some may wonder: At the Lord’s call, what or how much did these two fisherman leave behind? On this, my beloved, we should attend to one’s choice rather than one’s wealth.”
What Gregory is saying is that asking about the value of their business is the wrong question.
Jesus is calling them to come after Him, and to come away from their fishing. Not because there’s anything wrong with being a fisherman. But because Jesus is calling them to something more.
The right question? Not what Jesus is calling them from. But what is Jesus calling them to?
Jesus is calling them to make a choice. A choice to go from simply making a living to being truly alive. By making Him their focus, their priority.
Why is Jesus doing this? Because it kind of sounds like the world’s most insecure deity is looking for fanboys to shore up a fragile ego.
In a word, no. That’s not it, at all.
If that’s not it, then what’s the point? As Jesus will explain, “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
That is, put God first, and everything else will fall into place.
Not that life becomes magically easy with God. But if God is your focus, your priority, then you’re grounding yourself in the only constant in this life.
When you do, the God who loves you becomes your place of power and your place of peace.
Meaning that all of the changes and challenges of this life can’t push you around. Not like they will if you make them your focus.
That is the call. How you answer it – your choice – determines everything.

To my first love, Jesus.
There’s just one chief end to man’s purpose. One main reason for existence.
All man’s vain and high ambitions will one day be brought low.
To treasure You above all others.
To love You like we love no other.
Your greatness soon will be uncovered and all the earth will then know.
For you alone will be exalted in that day. Worthless goals will be exposed as idols that we’ve made.
For you alone will be exalted in that day. You’ll be seen as rightful King and from our hearts we’ll say that…
All is for your glory
All is for your name
All is for your glory
That in all things You may have first place.
That in all things You may have preeminence.
So put me anywhere just put Your glory in me.
I’ll serve you anywhere, just let me see your beauty.
My soul cries out for you the living Christ.
Let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
I have nothing to boast when heaven and earth passes away, but one thing do I boast in is just you my Lord Jesus.
All my life is for your glory.
I don’t want to be remembered, but I want those to remember the One who saved my wretched soul.
It will always be: “Yet not I, but Christ in me.”
-Song: All Is For Your Glory

Good Morning!☀️
0But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
Jesus had been addressing the issue of worrying. He pointed out that worrying did not change the situation:
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Matthew 6:27
He reminded those listening that just as God fed the birds and dressed the fields with beauty out shining King Solomon at his best, he would provide for those who trusted him:
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
[30]Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Matthew 6:26,30
Instead of worrying and running ourselves ragged trying to provide for ourselves, a better choice is to seek God's kingdom and the righteousness that goes with it. God promises that if we put him and kingdom living first and foremost in our lives, he will add food, clothing, shelter and whatever else we need.
Put God and his will first. He knows how to feed the birds and clothe the fields.  He can feed and clothe us!

Weed-free. When You Feel Like A Weed, not a sturdy tree.
Weed-free living should be our goal. I want to be spiritually weed-free but today I feel like a weak, wilted weed. And after that post yesterday! But that’s what happens when you let your routine get messed up. For trees to remain strong, they need to be regularly fed and watered. Now, while I have been reading God’s word and praying, it’s kind of been scattered. Ever been there? Routine matters…

(This was written in July oh dear-)
You know how in a lot of fics a de-aged Danny winds up in Gotham either via Clockwork putting him there, or Danny goes through a portal (either through his own volition or not) and ends up being taken in by one of the bats?
Okay that, but what if he was never picked up and ends up falling through the cracks and becoming one of the many homeless children wandering Gotham's streets, but unlike all the other street kids who know when to keep their head down Danny just doesn't have those fear receptors... like at all- It's almost scary with how the kid manages to just not give a single flying fuck about what is going on.
So after a while of wandering the streets and getting acquainted with the Gotham's inhabitants everyone slowly get's used to the kid wandering around, dropping their guard and greeting him with smiles when he toddles around the corner, looking for his next meal or piece of scrap clothing.
Perhaps it's this show of trust they begin to notice the strangeness that hangs around him like a cloud. The shifting coloured eyes, the coldness in his skin that never seems to go away no matter how much clothing the kid gets bundled in.
The fact that no one knows where he goes once they take their eyes on him? Spooky to say the least, but they're Gothamites! One shady, possibly meta, kid ain't gonna change anything.
So he becomes a staple in everyone's lives, and eventually learned his name is Danny. He talks about having an older sister called Jazz, two best friends and a puppy he named Cujo. (who let their kids watch Cujo???) They also learned he had an innate fear of The Bats, whenever one swept into the streets during their nightly patrol he would just... disappear. He became unfindable and wouldn't appear until the next day.
At first they thought it was him finding a safe place to sleep while the night rolled around and the Rouges came out to play, but that assumption was quickly squashed when he was caught wailing on one of the Jokers henchmen. The white makeup couldn't even cover up the black and blue bruises that covered his face.
It was comical, if not a bit frightening to see this small child practically a baby sitting upon a knocked out, grown ass man. His little stubby legs dangling off the side of his body, too small to even reach the ground.
Of course nothing stays under the Bats radar for long so he end up eventually getting spotted. However none of the Bats where expecting such resistance from the civilians when they offered to take the kid.
Now whenever the little tyke is bumbling around and a Bat (or any other vigilante associated with them) is in the area, it's all hands on deck to distract Danny and get him somewhere else.

The idea of poseidon only helping percy because he saw athena not helping annabeth is so funny because it shows how messy the Greek gods are like wdym you have a millennium old beef with your niece and the only reason you saved your kid it's so you can say you're better parent than her???
